My boyfriend and I went here for Valentines Day and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. My boyfriend is even a meat eater and he loved his meal! I tried the tofish burger which was nice, I did get envious seeing other people's burgers as they looked delicious too. The gherkin golf balls with cheeze sauce were so tasty, and the mac and cheese. Definitely recommend visiting here if you are vegan, veggie, pesci, or trying new things!

absolutely loved it! everything we ordered was SO delicious and the portions are amazing! my eyes are definitely bigger than my stomach so I didn’t finish it all, but managed to get some to go containers😌 The staff are very friendly as well, overall a wonderful experience! Can’t wait to go back again!

Went for the first time and won't be the last. Neither myself nor my partner are vegetarian but we absolutely appreciate good vegan food and our burgers didn't disappoint. We were first seated in quite a loud area next to the kitchen but after explaining to the staff I can't handle much noise (anxiety etc.), she happily moved us. We ended up outside which seems like it would be a great seating area... I think the day we went it wasn't really set up for customers so outside wasn't the comfiest. Pallet seating with no cushions etc. Other than that, great place and would definitely go again.

Wow....amazing. The best vegan food I have eaten in many many years. You must try the Asian Fusion. Everything looks amazing. Just wished I lived in Cardiff to eat my way round the menu. And...I was able to bring my dog which some of the other vegan restaurants in Cardiff don't allow.

I’ve been a vegetarian for five years. I’ve only been a full vegan for six weeks. This restaurant serves some of the best food I’ve ever eaten, regardless of the vegan ingredients. They do an amazing daytime menu, see photo for their fake kebab meat salad. It was so stunning we went back three days on the bounce to get more. In the evenings they do vegan Chinese food. The tofu rice is amazing, the peeking crispy tofu is exceptional, they do the best salt and chilli chips you’ll ever taste, the black bean crispy tofu is very nice indeed, and the new udon mushroom noodle dish is bonkers lovely. They make the nicest Chinese in Cardiff; arguably the country. You don’t need to be vegan to enjoy it either. I was torn whether to submit this review sharing just how good this restaurant is because if they get inundated I might not be able to get a table. However, they deserve everyone’s custom. Seriously, if you try this place you’ll be back again and again. Just had a Chinese from there. Want it tomorrow now again. Mental. It’s so nice you won’t believe it.

I have eaten here twice during a visit to Cardiff. The menu is more fast food than gourmet, with filling portions. The staff were pleasant and welcoming and there was a lively atmosphere. My favourite selection from the menu was the Arabian Bowl and I also loved the macaroni 'cheese'.

I'd been meaning to book Anna-Loka for some time after seeing it on Dirty Vegan and reading the positive reviews about the food there. My partner and I have recently gone vegetarian, so I finally booked us a table for our first vegan experience and it didn't disappoint. We had the sharing platter for our starter and the menanam burger for our main. It was quite simply delicious! The deserts were great too. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the service very swift. We left the restaurant feeling very content and will definitely be visiting again. Well done, Adam, you've created a fantastic little restaurant here!

Thank-you to Aaron and the team at Anna Loka for hosting and feeding our party of 20+! The restaurant is a lovely venue and was perfect for my partner's surprise 40th birthday party. We pre-ordered food prior to the evening, and all went as smoothly as hoped for. We had lovely relaxed service from a friendly team. The location was perfect for pre-gig food before going on to The Globe. We will definitely come back!

People were nice not as busy as it used to be, I think it’s been taken over by new owners. I didn’t feel the professionalism as it did once before. I ordered a tofu fish and triple cooked chips. The tofu fish was very nice the triple cooked chips came out cold in the middle they were not cooked properly through. I told the gentleman who was serving me he offered to refry them or cook a new portion. Obviously I decided on a new portion. I didn’t get as many as I did 2nd time round and they were very greasy and didn’t taste great they were ok at least I didn’t get food poisoning. The gentleman asked me if I liked the tofu fish to which I replied I did but I mentioned they may want to reconsider they’re triple cooked chips because they wasn’t very nice or could be the cooking oil who knows.

Reviewing this as a non - vegan, who went with my vegan girlfriend. Very friendly, chilled restaurant. A lot on the menu that I was interested in. Arrived 20 minutes early and we were still shown to our table and had our order taken. Staff were polite friendly and explained some of the dishes to us. Very impressed, will definitely eat there again.

Came across this place by accident and was very pleasantly surprised. So many amazing vegan options it was almost impossible to choose but went for the pancakes with vegan bacon. It was the best began bacon I have had in my 3 years of being vegan. Staff were all so friendly and accommodating and the place was decorated so cool.

It’s something that is not just a trend is what is should be everywhere. Take it as an example. A nice cool vegan restaurant in the heart of Cardiff City, Wales. The interior is so beautiful with stone carved walls. Quite a hip rustic design. Pure vegan restaurant with a lot to choose from. Had the Krishna bowl and vegan burger with sweet potato fries. There are some vegan cakes too! Recommend the lemon cake. Highly recommend visiting this place.

Enjoyed the food, the atmosphere was great so overall very pleased. Great cake selection! Would recommend the tofu wrap over the burger. Only criticisms would be that upon seating us and giving us the menus, we weren’t told that only the Sunday menu items are available on a Sunday, which meant we had to choose different things. Why not then just have these specific menus to hand out on the Sundays? And also, just like in any other vegan food establishment, there was something that they had ran out of and couldn’t serve.

I was doubtful about this place as the dine-in was not available as per google due to COVID, however when we called up they confirmed that they are operational. Had the Krishna’s mighty bowl at this place and it was unusually good as the combination was very different from what I’ve had before.

Been waiting so long to try the new vegan Chinese food and the old items from the previous menu. Couldn’t be more happy with the whole experience, we had travelled down from London to come down and the owner was so welcoming to allow us to come during their break hours as we were having a really bad day due to the traffic and our hotel cancelling our reservation. The owner went out of his way to help us find and book accommodation for my family. Not to mention the food was absolutely delicious and out nothing in our home comes close to the food experience we had. Really loved the idea of being able to create our own secret sacred juice by picking the off the list of ingredients options, 100% recommend and ask for Aaron if you’re ever in Cardiff.

Had a great evening at Anna Loka. Aaron and the team made us feel very welcome and cooked us a range of starters, mains and desserts, that we all shared. The range of dishes were prepared and presented expertly. I had originally made the booking as a treat for our vegan daughter. She loved everything about the evening, but all of us non vegans in the family really enjoyed the food and relaxed atmosphere too. The dishes had some real distinct and varying flavours that reminded us of meals we had enjoyed together on our travels around South East Asia. Will definitely be back when next in Cardiff.

Well, it made the list of the most instagrammable breakfasts in Cardiff, and rightfully so - the Cali breakfast is really beautiful, I definitely recommend getting the jazzy beans on the side, as the flavours of the breakfast itself are mostly quite simple. The dollop of ketchup on the switch sausage is scrumptious but not enough for this sauce-lover! The tofu scramble couldn’t done with a bit more pizzazz I reckon - maybe some veggies in it? Chilli sauce? Not sure but it was all delicious though, and impeccably presented! We also took a slice of cake to go and it was huge and yummy!! The space is cute and quirky, and was full of reserved signs on tables when we snuck in early(ish) on a Sunday morning - so I’d recommend booking to avoid disappointment. Lovely staff, helpful and friendly, excellent service and food.

The Rodeo Burger was absolutely DIVINE. Divine. Zeus himself would’ve ordered it if he was vegan. To be honest you don’t even need to be vegan to appreciate how lush the food here is :D I actually looked forward to my burp so I could taste it all again, highly recommend!

Delicious, well-presented food and great communication throughout the process of using Anna-Loka to cater for a small-medium sized birthday party, would highly recommend! We asked Anna-Loka if they could cater (not knowing if this was possible) for a 20-25 people gathering in Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan due to having several guests who are vegan, veggie and/or gluten intolerant. Spoke to Aaron (recent new owner of the business) about portions and what food could be made suitable for ‘buffet style’ type catering and he was more than happy to discuss ideas and cater for our needs and at a good price. He was able to deliver the food to our doorstep on the day which was very convenient. The food was delivered fresh to our house at the time discussed and kept warm with foil dishes and containers provided by Anna-Loka. The food looked and tasted delicious, it was clear a lot of time and effort had gone into making the food and every single guest commented how tasty it was and some of the best vegan food they had eaten in a long time. There was plenty of food which was lucky due to more guests arriving than planned although it went down so quickly we couldn’t take any photos. We had a range of food- the Donner/Arabian bowls, all the starters and sides and a range of crispy tofu dishes and dumplings so there was something for everyone. The whole process was very smooth, from ordering the food to delivering Aaron made sure that we were happy with the service and the food which we very much were. I look forward to eating in the restaurant soon and supporting Cardiff’s independent restaurants, do not hesitate to go .

This is such a fabulous place to eat. The drinks menu is excellent for health drinks and smoothies. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The only negative was I did come out smelling of oil which wasn't very nice.

It was a last minute decision to go there, recommended by my daughter. We rang to book a table given that we were due there around 8.30pm and knowing they closed at 9 that evening and they were very happy to accommodate us. On arrival the staff were excellent. Ordered rodeo burger with seitan that was extremely salty and very crumbly falling apart. Onion ring sith on tomato that made it so soggy all the fun in eating crispy coating gone. Sadly low rating also due to service. Order to take away-asked to come back in 5min than stood for 10min or being ignored by all staff. Food was ready packed under the counter. Disappointed!

Had a breakfast bap when passing through (Well, I say passing, we went out of our way on our way back from the Welsh coast into the middle of Cardiff just to eat there). Fantastic! The food was out of this world, some of the tastiest and most satisfying food we have ever had. I'm not a vegan, though I do have a very controlled diet for health reasons. However, if you aren't vegan either then don't overlook this absolute gem of a restaurant based on that minor detail. You would be missing out on some truly amazing food that is not only delicious but full of the good stuff as well. I had the Krishna Whole Food Bowl, which was sensational. A generously portioned dish that is bursting with flavour in every mouthful. The service was excellent, very friendly and welcoming and an all round pleasant atmosphere. My sincerest compliments to the chef and the waiting staff. They have a wonderful little place in Anna Loka. My only issue is why did it take so long for us to discover this place?! A 10/10 and highly recommended. We will certainly be back again.

My aubergine was very tough, the other bits and pieces can be looked over. I’m pleased there’s a vegan place in Cardiff, but I’m not sure it was worth the £25-30. I’d also like some healthier flour alternatives integrated into the menu. Worth a visit if passing.

Overall: Amazing food, Depressed staff, Long wait times, Auto included service charge. Came without a booking, they were able to seat us but instantly the staffs demeanor was awful. They seemed very lifeless and down, might be a management problem? Who knows. Took our order swiftly (doner wrap and breakfast pancakes), but the food took a long time to arrive. The food itself was very good 5/5. Maybe a bit expensive, but totally worth it for such a lovely meal with nutrition restrictions. Sadly, they also automatically include a service charge on the bill, of which you have to ask for it to be removed, which is incredibly demeaning. Furthermore, we waited for over 15 minutes just for them to get us the bill, and a further 15 for the card reader.

Popped in for a vegan dinner here while staying in Cardiff. The BBQ Seitan Toast starter was sensational, one of the best I've ever had. The burger was pretty decent too. Only downside was that the restaurant said they don't serve sides of vegetables, which seems ironic for a vegan restaurant. Overall a good experience, just lacking Broccoli and/or carrots!

Absolute perfection! We found this little gem on our way out of Cardiff, and what a find it was. Such a beautiful and cute little place with a wide variety of options. I’d heard a lot about Anna Loka and it didn’t disappoint, we had the breakfast with vegan sausage, bacon and scrambled egg. I have to say it was one of the best non meat breakfast we have had. Full of flavour and interest, the only sticking point is the price. 2 breakfasts cost £25. I know a lot of creativity and effort goes into creating the elements but that’s just a bit too much for a regular thing. We had to pay extra for the jazzy beans which really should have been included in the price of the breakfast. If it was more like £8.50 per breakfast we would be there every week, but it will be more of a special occasion treat as it stands.

Honestly the best breakfast I've ever had! We all had the Cali Breakfast. It was fresh, delicious and not too heavy. Visited this restaurant with some vegan friends, as it was one of the few vegan eateries that was open in the evenings. Although not a vegan myself, I thought the food was delicious. The menu was not huge, but still more extensive than most vegetarian/vegan places I have visited. Service was ok, although I found it quite difficult to attract the attention of staff at times. We all had different main courses and were all really impressed. Starters were ok, but perhaps could have been a bit more imaginative. I'm knocking a star off because I phoned up to book a table, and was told there was nothing available until an hour after the time I requested - surprising for a Monday night. As it happens I turned up early, and found the restaurant to be half empty. Had I just turned up at the original time I am fairly certain I would have got a table without difficulty, so not sure what that was about. This will not stop me going back again though, as good vegan restaurants are hard to find.

My non-veggie partner took me to Anna Loka for a surprise. It was the first time he’s visited a vegan restaurant. He said him self, he thought the southern fried seitan burger was delicious and he was “pleasantly surprised”, which is massive as he very rarely doesn’t have meat in his meals. I had the rodeo burger and thought it was delicious too. We’ve finished our meal with a peanut butter milkshake and an almond butter protein milkshake - both of which were really thick (that’s a good thing!) and full of flavour.I would definitely recommend this place.

I'm slowly working my way through their menu, I would recommend the chilli dog with sweet potato fries..... That garlic mayo is something else. Even if you don't need food they have a good range of smoothies (vegan of course) and fruit juices that are hard to beat. I would recommend booking ahead if you plan to go in the evening (lunch time also gets busy). It's a small restaurant and their tables fill up fast. BUT if you need a fix and have left it too late then they do deliver via one of those delivery apps.

For my main course, I ordered a Caribbean Curry, which was merely decent, though well garnished. The main part of the dish tasted like a standard (if that) Indian Curry, which was kind of watery and diluted, yet spicy, but ultimately devoid of interesting flavours. On the side was some flavoursome rice mixed with a pleasantly mild creamy sauce (the best part of the dish), a spicy and creamy dipping sauce, and some deep fried banana (though plantain would've worked better). 3/5 On the side, I had a delicious milkshake with chocolate and banana among other flavours. It was thick, creamy, and desertlike, easily the best thing I tasted there all evening, though not complimentary to the food. To be honest, I could've gone without my dessert and just had that in its place. 5/5 My dessert was really disappointing unfortunately. It was a raspberry and orange spongecake, though it hardly tasted of those fruits, as the natural flavours were so drowned out by artificial sweetness, which made it sickly and cloying, particularly the icing. Not awful though, as it was edible enough to finish. 2/5 What I tasted of someone else's dessert seemed nicer (it was a raw cake), so perhaps I just made bad decisions about what to order. However, I've eaten there twice and I remember being disappointed the first time by the texture of my seitan sausage, which shredded like duck. The people I was with though, who made different orders from me, seemed to enjoy their food more than I did. Though I would recommend Atma Cafe any day over Ana Loka. Overall, 3/5 stars.

My second experience of a vegan restaurant. My first was greazy vegan, the less said of that place the better. Went to Anna Loka to keep my veganuary going. Walked in and was greeted warmly, sat at a table towards the back. Ordered a starter, burger and cheese cake. All 3 dishes were amazing and I'm far from a vegan. The staff seemed happy to be there and very knowledgeable about the food. Even though I more than likely will revert to my omnivore eating by February I would go back here again as a non vegan.
