A. S.Wonderful Tapas restaurant. The staff were friendly and engaging and knew their menu well. The food was excellent, and although not all traditional tapas items certainly were worth the price.
On top of this, the drinks selection was incredible. All cocktails were very well made and the range of beers, some of which are very uncommon in the UK, were the final touches to the experience. The venue is on the upper end of pricing, but in my view is worth every penny. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Cardiff.

The waitresses were excellent and friendly, with great knowledge of the menu and the food came out nice and quickly. They recommended six dishes for two people but I'd argue it depends what you want as some dishes are quite small. We ordered eight. Also the male toilets need improving as there are just two urinals and two toilets, and considering it's shared with the bar, that's not enough, (was a queue when I went in) so that's why I've given 4 stars and not 5.

My only complaint was that some of the patrons were ruining the atmosphere, being unnecessarily loud and obnoxious and making a nuisance of themselves (business suit lads, you know the type), but staff were understanding and politely shooed them out as soon as they could. Lively place with a great, bustling atmosphere on a Friday night and a great selection of tapas - ranging from sublime seared tuna to the finest Spanish ham to tempura spring onions (a must try). Never disappointed here and never had a bad meal. Loads of variety and ingredients are both fresh and top notch. Great wine selection - the Rioja was sublime. Surely one of the best restaurants in Cardiff?
G. T.First Tapas meal in years, and Bar 44 didn't disappoint. The good was utterly divine. Indeed, my husband & I ordered 10 dishes between us and went away fit to burst! The food was fresh and mouth-wateringly flavoursome. The service was cordial and expedient. The decor & ambiance are relaxing and pleasing. Pricing is in line with most central Cardiff restaurants. I can heartily recommend Bar 44, and we'll doubtless be back at some point.

It didn't make sense so I rang back and spoke to someone else....we could have two tables for 8 with no set meal. Perfect!! The tapas was delicious, good sized portions and good service. Pros: Prawns, patatas, and jamon croquettes are delicious. Excellent service.
Tapas bars in spain serve food for free with drinks so calling this place a tapas bar is a stretch tbh.
T. B.Food somewhat hit and miss, quite expensive and ok service. Is a shame as some nice produce on display and some good ideas.
Common temperature problems: battered hake not hot suggesting not freshly fried, tuna tartare too fishy and warm i.e. not fresh enough, ox cheek also lukewarm so not as rich as should be.
However, some great sauces e.g. the aioli, piquillo and the corn and bone marrow.
If it was either ~15% cheaper or employed more attention to detail, I'd certainly be back and recommending it.

G. F.Visited this place a few weeks ago on a recommendation from a friend and have never been so pleasantly surprised. By a long way the best tapas we have eaten outside of San Sebastian. The lamb and the pork Belly sensational, as was the berry sangria. Service impeccable and every dish delicious. The dinner was so good we booked for lunch the next day which was equally good!

J.Fantastic quality and quantity of food. The staff were extremely accommodating despite us turning up without a reservation on a very busy night.
The menu is simple, but delicious, focusing on quality of dishes rather than the massive array one would normally associated with a Spanish restaurant, but still maintains enough range that there is something for every palate.
I cannot fault the staff at all, every member of the team worked seamlessly to ensure that everybody had a great night.
When running out of some dishes, the staff were genuinely apologetic, and worked for find a solution.
Very well worth a visit!
J. M.Great food and great service. Went as a party of 7 adults and one toddler, they had the table ready with high chair and crayons for the little one. A couple of us were late for our booked time, but this didn't faze them, we never felt at all pressured to order or eat quickly. Food came promptly and was utterly delicious, there was barely any crumbs left over! Would definitely recommend to tapas lovers.

I appreciate you can order as much as you like but we had already got to £30 a head and was still hungry and we do not have massive appetites...i appreciate it's tapas but portion sizes let them down. Shame as a nice place. If we had carried on and drunk and eaten more the bill would have been over £50 a head making this an expensive place per meal.
C. G.Great tapas and lovely staff. Popped in hoping it would be decent but for the food, service and price it was exceptional. Beautiful tortilla was the highlight but really good seafood too. My colleague ordered a second drink which the waiter forgot and when she asked again he apologised, brought it immediately and then told us he was removing it from the bill. Really lovely guy, and things like that make you appreciate well run places with staff that care about what they do. Highly recommended.

I have been a few times in the past and this was definitely the best experience I have had. Every mouthful of food was as enjoyable as the last, the service was great and we didn't feel pressured or rushed by anyone. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone.
M. T.If someone told me they only had one night in Cardiff, I’d unflinchingly tell them to head to Bar 44. Tapas is one of my favourite types of food and man, they know what they’re doing. I’ve been here for dates, birthdays, hen dos, the lot, and it’s classy and delicious every time. I reckon by now I’ve eaten every meal on the menu, and I sometimes dream of the teeny duck burger. I’m only being a little dramatic. Book in advance, they get pretty busy.
P. F.I have now been to Bar 44 several times and the range and quality of tapas is excellent. However, on my last visit my partner and I had the Sunday Roast. It was by far the best Sunday Roast I have ever had. We had the braised lamb and several varieties of vegetables. They were all beautifully cooked and presented. The wine was recommended by the waiter and the owner and it was so good we had a second bottle. The ice cream was made on the premises I think and that ,too, was really lovely. The best meal we have had in Cardiff in a long while. All the staff were helpful and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Well done, Bar 44. Peter Fowler

Although there were amazing places in Barcelona to experience tapas, you need to really eat here and experience this flavorful menu that Bar 44 has to offer. ABSOLUTELY delightful! Every dish was carefully prepared with love, with one goal in mind: to blow your mind! Seriously, if you want a nice night out with culture and amazing ambiance...look no further. This is the real deal in South Wales.
The staff is amazing, the owners are so nice and thoughtful, and the Gin drinks are fantastic! I am so glad to have found this place. Booking my next night here this week as we speak.

A. C.Enjoyed some tapas from the lunchtime offer here recently (3 for 10). The food was great with portions decent enough to fill two people and the staff were really friendly.
As is almost essential now in a Spanish restaurant the gin menu is pretty extensive and their selection of beers is diverse to match this.
The atmosphere was relaxed.
T. H.We were a large group of about 50 and they looked after us really well and kept the food and drinks flowing. The dishes all looked amazing but personally I found some of the dishes very bland and a bit disappointing. The appetising look didn't translate. Thank you for a great evening

The food is imaginative, varied, with great portion sizes! They even have a Vegan wine list! Staff were excellent. Can not rate this place highly enough for Vegans!

The food was stunning to say the least and the waiting staff couldn’t do enough. I was very touched and grateful at how our waitress was and how she treated me especially. Im a celiac and it can sometimes be abit awkward because it’s so important for me not to consume any gluten. she made me feel as if it was absolutely no trouble atall. There was plenty of gf options to choose from but she went above and beyond and asked the kitchen to make most of the other dishes gf for me too so I could fully join in on the feast. I would like to say thank you to her and the kitchen staff. I wish I could remember her name she had a super sweet accent and a fairish hair colour. You made my evening keep doing What your doing lovely 😊 xxx

M. W.Pre show dinner and wasn’t too sure what to expect but very pleasantly surprised. This is a smart looking restaurant with a good atmosphere, staff who smiled and made you feel welcome. Our waitress was Italian, very bubbly and professional and recommended a good bottle of red as we perused the tapas menu. A good start. We chose some initial dishes including juicy anchovies, sourdough with tomatoes and oil, Serrano ham and padron peppers. All great and ordered a second portion of anchovies and sourdough. The next courses included crispy hake, seared tuna, beetroot & goats cheese, bravas and beef with caramelised onion. Again all great. We settled up at this point as needed to get to the show
