n. l.Service was really good. Waitress was super sweet and helpful. The place was comfortable to sit in. I sat outside in the arcade area. They had heaters set up there. The food was okay. I wasn’t very impressed. It tasted a bit bland to me but nothing too horrible. Not bad experience. Would go again to try a different dish.
I. R.Having read several articles which referred going to Bill's as a must, decided to take the plunge and go there for our first meal while visiting Cardiff. Went to the one in Wyndham Arcade. Needless to say it didn’t disappoint. The decor, the service and the food were simply amazing. Kudos to them in making the patrons feel welcome. Also, lots of praises to Antonia who waited on us. She was extremely helpful, and her recommendations were brilliant. Started with the Devilled chicken skewers then had the fish pie as mains. We also had the x-mas burger as mains and then finally finished off with triple chocolate brownie for desserts. Everything was done so well, and the quality was amazing. Definitely a great place to go and have a good time. Especially the warmth and friendliness just added to the whole experience.

Regarding the food, I visited the restaurant on the morning to have my breakfast there. I ordered pancake and black coffee. The coffee arrived before the pancake and it got cold waiting for the pancake. When pancake arrived was very good looking and nice taste but I think it was not freshly baked.
Table was not cleaned very well and it was sticky !!
T. A. h.Nice outdoor seating and welcoming waiters. Seemed like a good bet. Had to sit outside because we had the dog with us. When I asked for a dog bowl, was told they only had 1 and it was being used by another dog. Waitress was lovely and helpful but the wait times were long for all courses. The cutlery and crockery was a little grubby and nobody wore masks. Maybe that is normal for cardiff now, I don't know. We ate the nachos sharing plate which was quite interesting. My vegetarian soulbowl was soulless and tasteless. Apparently the burger was very edible but the minute steaks and chips were disappointing. Bills in London was really good so I was disappointed with this one. Nothing to recommend except for location and friendly staff.

We visited on a Sunday morning and the place was full, a couple of people waiting for a table at the door also. Luckily we’d booked and were sat down relatively quickly. The menu sounded delicious and they didn’t mind when I ordered the big breakfast & asked for poached eggs instead of fried and some hollandaise with it.
The staff were friendly and efficient. The food came out surprisingly quick considering how busy it was and it was incredible. Great quality and quantity. I love Bills anyway but first time visiting the Cardiff branch and I’ll go back again. And again…

Courses and drinks came very quickly and we're of a good standard.
I believe everything is slightly over priced but it was tasty. My only small criticism is that we were seated by the Till at what I assume is shift change so there was a lot of staff essentially on our shoulders. So I wouldn't sit there again.
A. W.Absolutely amazing.. I would highly recommend the seabass curry and the calamari. But the star of the show was Bella our waitress, she made the whole experience perfect. So friendly and went above and beyond for us. If I owned a restaurant I'd be hiring her! Great night 👌🏻
E.We went for Valentines Day day and the set menu was so good! I was really impressed that there was a vegan option for all 3 courses and that they were incredibly tasty. First time we've been there for dinner but will definitely be back.
M. S.Really depends on your waiter and host, but we got lucky. I would have given 5 8d the kitchen staff hadn't messed up my Creme Tea order - which quickly fixed by my legendary waiter - Tomek. The strawberry sugar donuts with white chocolate were yummy though
N. W.I really don't know how to rate this place which is unusual for me. It rustic sort of decor. You can eat outside but its with everyone passing to & from the railway station so high footfall. The stairs to the toilets are a nightmare and the loos are so small you have to press up against them to get in cubicle 😝 the staff are friendly and attentive and you get table service. We had chicken with mash which was well done and a decent size but the mushroom sauce was watery and spoiled the meal a bit.
I did feel it was expensive but then looking at what I had it wasn't all at the same time. I think the drinks cost more than I would normally pay. I would say that I read bills carefully and I noticed there were 2 different totals. One being the food and drink, the other with a service charge applied that was optional, so if you are not careful you may tip twice. Too pricey for me 😓

A. P. N.I went on a date here and my, the food and service were just amazing. I am a vegetarian and my partner was upset they didn't have many options for me, but I still got the' Dirty Vegan Burger' and it filled both my heart and hunger! The ambience is rusty and warm- the right ingredients for a perfect dining experience. I guess, if you are looking for a quiet dinner dining, ask them and choose a timing past 8. If you like the crowd and voices, go ahead anytime, and get their Banana Split- you won't regret it!
i. c.The three of us turned up unannounced and they managed to squeeze us in. Ordered drinks with some garlic bread to keep us going until the main arrived. The garlic bread was amazing. Not overpowering and slightly charred just the way I like it. I opted for the Festive Burger and Chips (I'm not a burger person and originally went for the Boxing Day curry but it had sold out).
Anyway. The burger arrived and I wasn't disappointed. It was simply wonderful. A moist burger layered with bacon. It's probably the nicest burger I've eaten. My children had the classic burger, which I tried and it was nice but nowhere as flavoursome as the Festive choice.
Service was quick and friendly. The place was clean although my table felt a little sticky hence the 4 stars. Otherwise defo 5.

Took 20min to take drinks order, then another 20 for food order. Quality of food was excellent, tasty & plentiful, loved the variety available on the menu. Good decor & atmosphere. Unfortunately the poor waiting time for service spoiled the evening - luckily we had nowhere to go afterwards!!!

L. D.Spent a few hours in here on Monday night, it was this long mainly due to the hour and ten minutes it took for six meals to arrive. Luckily we were enjoying good company so not too bothered about the delay. Think this is a common problem for businesses who are getting back to normal after lockdown. Food was good, not amazing, and the desserts were probably better than mains for once (chocolate and caramel tart in the photo). Staff were very pleasant but we were constantly waiting too long for things to arrive, one lot of drinks sat on the bar for at least fifteen minutes until staff were prompted. Probably wouldn't choose this as an evening venue again despite the pluses of nice decor and good location.

Prices have increased since I last had a Bill's breakfast (a few years ago) but the overall quality and service and jumped up a few notches.
The food was delicious, the coffee was quite good. I really enjoyed the decor and feel of the place, it is very light and spacious and feels fresh.
Highly recommend a breakfast visit.
A.Bills always a good bet. Be warned that its busy and space is extremely limited, so tables are tiny compared to the plates. Service is good, staff are very good, food was good.
But, glasses and cutlery need a upgrade.

P. D.Really enjoyed my early afternoon brunch solo dining experience. It was very busy, but I got seated and served quickly. Staff are great. I ordered a crab cake Benedict from the all day menu and everything was perfect. 👌. Eggs perfectly cooked and warm, toast crisp, 🦀crab cake not soggy. I got a juice to follow and while it may not be the giant smoothies you'll find in some places it was very fresh and delicious also. Feel revived and ready to rock. 😎 Thank you Bills!

We were met by cheerful staff who looked like they actually enjoyed their work. Our server was CRISTINA who was very helpful and knowledgeable with our food selections, not only that but she also chatted with us about her home town, traditions, and food whilst she was also looking after her other customers. Give that lady a pay rise👍, thank you for a lovely dining experience and yes we'll be definitely coming back here, great food, staff and ambiance 🤗🤗🤗🤗

We got a table, not a problem, the waiter was a little slow coming to our table, he took our drinks orders, there was only two of us, then went off, it took a little while for them to come so we asked for the bill immediately, after 20 minutes my daughter had to go and speak to him to get the bill so we could pay. The drinks however were really delicious which made up for the slow service.
C. G.Great food, comfortable seating, well spaced out. Despite it always being busy and the staff rushed off their feet it's a relaxed atmosphere and the staff a mostly very attentive. Don't like the steep stairs to the toilets but they do have a disabled toilet downstairs. Definitely recommend Bills and definitely recommend the halloumi and avocado burger, I always mean to try something different when I go but I just can't resist it!!

S. E.The food and service here were lovely - I did have to queue for a while despite booking but I appreciate this is hard to avoid with all of the regulations. Our waitress was absolutely delightful - I believe her name was Grace (I could be wrong) and despite it being a busy day she was incredibly attentive and never made us feel like we were bothering her. The food was also very tasty and quick to arrive.
Watch out for the service charge if you visit - they automatically add 12% which never tends to go directly to your server so if you really want to help out a waiter/waitress, take off the service charge and then tip them directly!

The food was good, not worthy of the service charge they automatically add to your bill, be aware. If you feel the service you received didn't warrant a service charge, ask them to remove it as I did.

N.Food was good and service was efficient. Mid-priced wasn't expensive and not cheap. The food was great though and worth it. The staff let the place down though. They just weren't exactly warm and welcoming. We kind of felt we were intruding. Our server started off a little cold but she warmed up by desert and was a little nicer. Id usually put this kind of thing down to somebody having a bad day but nearly all the staff were the same from what I could see apart from the girl at the entrance and a blonde boy at the bar. Four of us had lunch on a busy Saturday but despite this we felt safe and comfortable with the COVID-19 precautions in place. The four of us had sharing platters and bread to start which were great. We each had different main courses which were all excellent, I’d recommend the green curry.
The service was friendly and efficient and we didn’t feel rushed at all despite an obvious queue of potential customers outside. We booked our table well in advance and I’d recommend doing that for weekends.
A.Great atmosphere, lovely food (especially the calamari) and hats off to the staff for dealing with such a busy night after an international rugby match. Could not fault it.

Venue was exceptionally well maintained and clean. My partner and myself were struggling to find an atmosphere which suited what we were looking for and would accept our dog. The first member of staff through to the last couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. The food was lovely however the sea bass was cooked in far too much butter as well as the side dish of asparagus and spinach (which was swimming) however all in all was a lovely meal and a lovely service. Bill’s happily seated my party of ten and served us all with grace and kindness. They were keen to ensure my friend with a nut allergy was served by a manger, and she had a label on her plate indicating her allergy.

Staff were very attentive and did the usual check-in to make sure all the food was alright etc etc. But it was done in a non patronising way, which was nice. The place has a nice casual relaxed atmosphere, well it did when we were there.. it's not cheap for a breakfast in the brunch but then you do get what you pay for.I would definitely go back there again but there's also a lot competition in Cardiff for nice bistro type cafes like this.

Even though we had already ordered our starters and main courses we had to explain to the staff that we wanted to cut the meal short. The staff were so wonderful and very understanding of this and even though we offered to pay for all of the food that we had ordered they only let us pay for the starters that we had had. We will definitely be returning here and hopefully finish a whole meal!

N. J.I have been there twice. The waitress was always really nice. Also helpful with what to choose. We had fishpie (cca 16£) and it was awesome. I also algae the fishfingers (cca 10£) and they were good as well. I would definitely recommend also for nice atmosphere. I am not giving five stars for two reasons - first the bathroom could be nicer, second I didn't like that much how they approach my allergy in the first time, when they first gave me allergic menu and then the other waitress had to come - we all had to wait longer due to this. It was much better second time as the other waitress just took our order and made a note to make sure there won't be alergen or to come back if there would be. Otherwise I definitely recommend!

P. J.I love Bills, frequenting both the Cardiff Bay and city centre location. Great service by friendly staff, who couldn't be more helpful. Being a Coeliac with a vegetarian partner the glutton free menu is especially welcome while my partner tells me the vegetarian options for her are excellent. Prices are reasonable considering the prime locations with attentive but not "in your face" service. Good food, good prices, good service, good decor, good location, friendly service ... what more would you look for?

But my most recent couple of visits have left me wanting for the Old bills, everything now feels a bit "chainy" as if you know it's been so standardised it's lost its soul. E.Tried to book for lunch on a Saturday but all booked tables allocated were taken.we decided to try anyway and were given a table for 2, but it was right by the cash desk where the service staff gathered so did feel as if I was sharing my lunch with them. Food was good quality and promptly serviced and staff were polite.

S. D.Great food and atmosphere, £34 for breakfast for two wouldn't be every week event. Celebrity breakfast visiters with Ronnie O'Sullivan on the table next to us. I had a Garden plate, veggie breakfast and was delicious, and my wife hade the English breakfast which was also superb.

The portions were okay but the amount of hard gristle I had to spit out from the chicken left me a bit fed up as it seemed to be every other mouthful there would be an uncomfortable crunch which would interrupt my enjoyment of it.
I'll definitely give it another go but couldn't help but be a tad disappointed
