c. i.Fantastic food and drinks. Had 6 tapas dishes, all so well cooked and fresh! Not the quickest service bit the food made up for that!
2 cocktails for £12, bargain! Again took a while to arrive but they were lovley!.

D. H. J.The food here is very good. The problem is the slowness of service. Only 6 tables occupied when I was there on the last 2 occasions. 2 bar staff and 3 waiting staff but it took about 10 minutes for 2 bottled beers and a glass of wine to arrive, each time with ordered the wine with a dash of lemonade (I know, horrendous) and each time no lemonade. We went in a Groupon deal and they are missing out on further sales as they did not come back to see if all was ok with the meal or if we needed any further drinks. It's a big place and has the potential to be great but they need to get the service better.

The service was great, Miguel & Josh were very helpful. Special thanks to the floor manager Patricia she is great at her job and made our experience here perfect. The venue is way too big for the number of guests they have seated at one time. Very strange feel inside as the decor felt off and parts felt really empty and almost half finished. BUT the food was great and very reasonably priced as we're the drinks.
One huge downfall is no system in place to tip unless you have cash? Given how hard true skeleton staff work this is the least the management could do to reward such hard working staff. Most systems let you do this on your pdq machine whilst paying the bill?

N. H.1st visit: Popped in just to see what it was like, lovely staff and wine.
Only had two starters, texas chicken wings were nice but must have been quail wings, Absolutely tiny. Chicken tikka nice flavour but dry and strange oil salsa as a dip.
Decor and atmosphere strange, had a laugh.
2nd visit:
Had a Groupon voucher and decided to try some curries, had the the chicken tikka and lamb rogan josh, both Absolutely stunning! proper authentic taste, can't think of any I've had that's better!
Decor still needs changing, get rid of the awful green walls and will massively improve this place, would also just focus on the curries! Upped my rating from 3 to 4 👍

Downfall is adverts in window for happy hr buy one get one free etc are totally misleading they knew this but basically they chamged changed it to fosters only
I don't mind spending £6 a pint without any offers and certainly have no issues paying but this was the decision maker with a group of friends on a budget from going into other venues

M. S.Went Saturday night for a birthday meal with my friends. The decor was beautiful inside was beautiful and the staff were all a delight and the table service was amazing. The lemon cheesecake cocktail was amazing and there was a great selection of non alcoholic drinks for my friends that do not drink. The chicken burger and that I ate was very good as well as the chicken satay skewers. And to top it all off the selection of desserts were amazing and tasted so lovely. 😍😍Definitely recommend this place for a nice meal out with friends. Thank you to all the staff at Blue Jay for our amazing night.

L.Went for a birthday meal with my girlfriend, the service was fantastic from the moment we came through the front door and were greeted at the bar, not sure if he was the manager but he was very friendly and helpful and set us up with a server straight away and wished us a pleasent evening. H. S.I went to blue jay bar and restaurant Saturday night for a meal with my parents before a movie at cineworld. The raspberry nojito was very tasty. There was a very nice atmosphere in the restaurant and the waiting staff were all lovely. The chicken sensation pizza was sensational as well as the chicken wings. I will definitely come back here with my friends.
M. M.My husband and I stumbled upon here when we was out walking our son outside of St David’s centre and it’s become our favourite restaurant when we are in Wales! I brought my mother and father here too who absolutely loved it! The staff are still shy but I really hope they see this review and gain confidence, you’re doing amazing! The manager was a bubbly and welcoming gentleman who made me cocktails he was still trailing, I loved that little touch! I felt so special after a day of driving back to Wales, I love Blue Jay and can’t recommend it enough! I hope it has all the success in the world but remains the little gem it is!
S. Y.What a lovely place, so clean and beautiful decor. The staff were attentive and helpful and extremely efficient. The food came out hot and well presented and thoroughly enjoyable although I had to swap as they mixed up our steaks (not a problem at all). It's a lovely new dining experience and I recommend it 110%.

However, there is a waiter here (Tom I believe) that made me and my date very uncomfortable when joking about taking customer's mobile numbers from the track & trace paperwork you have to complete at the door. We did tell another member of staff while we were there in hopes of it being passed on to a manager.
I'll likely visit again but would ask for a different waiter.

We loved our evening out and will come again. The party room upstairs is welcome addition for family parties or professional meetings.

H.Went along tonight for what was the opening night of a brand new business, on the first day that guests are allowed back inside restaurants since the most recent lockdown - and it absolutely did not dissapoint. The interior renovation has been completed to a very high standard with stylish lighting, wall decor and graphics, giving it a very relaxed ambience. The open kitchen looks very impressive - brand new and looks really well equipped. And the most important bit, the food, was fantastic. Four different types of cuisine available in starter and main (Italian, Chinese, Indian, Grill). Tasted 4 different starters and they were all top quality and really tasty. Great start and I'm sure it'll only get better from here. Impressed.

A. T.Went on opening night the 17th May 2021. Its nice to see another restaurant with a clearly visible kitchen and prep area, no chef Mike to be found anywhere! Had the squid starter and blue Jay pizza as a main. Also sampled the chicken satay and tikka starter, first impressions were very good food all round.
Authentic and well presented dishes flowed from the kitchen all night, I really wish I managed try to onion bhaji as it also got rave reviews on our table. I would recommend any of the above choices as time and effort had clearly gone into the preparation of these excellent dishes.
My favourite by far was the squid, it's not oftern you get carefully cooked fresh squid. There's nothing worse than over done rubbery rings fresh from the freezer, especially at a restaurant.
By contract the Bluejays squid was lightly coated and delicately fried. The fragrant oil seasoning, coupled with citrus notes and carefully selected herbs completed the dish in an exceptional manner. I quite simply could have had another portion especially as it was so light. No what I expected and probably far more then I deserved at the listed price.
A very nice addition to the Cardiff restaurant collection. Would happily recommend to anyone looking for a nice restaurant experience in Cardiff.
