Absolutely delicious, authentic cuisine. When dining out for Indian you want the best blend of flavour and heat and this restaurant delivered both for our mixed group of spice sensitivity (from hot to not). Very very impressed and will see you again soon. Thank you.

First meal in Cardiff, and I can say it was the best decision.
Aromatic, flavoursome dishes that were very authentic.
Nice open kitchen layout, and right in the heart of the busy city centre. Proper street style food cooked by experienced chefs, and prices were reasonable.

Went for the first time today, I will definitely be back! I love Indian food and everything was so delicious, the smells hit you as soon as you walk in. Was a lovely atmosphere, very busy but the food was quick. Cocktails were really well priced as they were £5.50 and were quite big and strong compared to other places in the area that charge £8 for weak cocktails. Can’t wait to come back and try more things on the menu! (I got onion, spinach and kale Bhaji & chicken momo for starter and the chef special Thali)

A nice indian restaurant in the city center of Cardiff. Average food, highly priced and very small portions. Probably won't go there next time. But one has to go there themselves to explore it.

I was blown away by the exceptional Chai here. It’s been 3 years that I found proper masala chai in Wales and boy was I happy! The ambiance is really good and they have a great menu too. The staff and pretty friendly and chatty like yours truly which was an added bonus for me! It’s now my go to place 💯

The pricing was fair. The service was respectable and efficient. The food was delivered at a brilliant pace. Delicious flavours and presentation. Had a wonderful night with my boyfriend and parents :) will be coming back!
P. L.
Awesome food.. we took vegetarian and non-vegetarian thali.. it was delicious.. staff was friendly and helpful..
2 downsides though :
Very expensive - Single roti can’t be 2.50£
Washroom was not clean
R. C.
Nice cosy spot fusion Indian street food but limited interactions with customers and nit the ideal service you would expect considering a 10 percent service charge is added automatically.
E. M.
Great little restaraunt with lovely choice of Indian street food. Highly recommend a visit when in Cardiff.
V. D.
Had an unexpected wonderful meal at Chai street, very close to the authentic indian food in taste, the spice levels being just perfect :)
The staff are absolutely down to earth making the environment welcoming and warm, special thanks to Atul and Nishant for coming to our table for a chit-chat.
A must visit when in central Cardiff.

Amazing food, super friendly and should be full to the rafters. Cannot wait to go again, chicken kati was superb

We phoned to book and they were able to accommodate a party of 11 at short notice. We were multi-generational with young children in tow and everyone enjoyed their food. The cocktails were lovely and the thali was amazing. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. If we lived in Cardiff we’d be back every week!

Quite nice restaurant, I ordered Biryani Chicken and it was good taste and price but food packing is not that good. I feel staffs need to trained to welcome customers better.
Recommend for dine in (I tried takeaway)

Tasty food with lots to choose from, both food and drink. Service was a bit slow, albeit a busy day. Price reflects food. Lychee cocktail was delicious!
D. Š.
Yeah, I liked it here. Delicious indian cuisine and OK staff. I can recommend this restaurant.

Authentic North Indian food. I would highly recommend this place.
M. C.
Amazing food and great prices. The menu was limited but everything sounded good. What we had was spicy, had a depth of flavour and texture. One of the most enjoyable Indian meals we've ever had.
N. K. J.
This was a completely surprising find! On a Saturday evening when the street was buzzing with activity, this colorful food joint offered its own unique identity. Go in to experience an authentic Indian cuisine experience with an amazing set of helpful staff. A rare place where you get fresh chai made to order rather than being delivered from a machine. The place lives up to the name. The vibrant colours and ambience inside almost takes you back to a place like Jaipur or Delhi instantly. Highly recommended!
P. R.
Good place to have some Indian cuisine near Cardiff Castle. Slightly mis-managed (saw people who ordered after us get food first even though the food items they ordered were same as us). They acknowledged the delay and gave some complimentary papadum. This is amongst good Indian restaurants in Cardiff and way better then a few over-hyped other ones like Vegetarian food studio.
S. A.
Great tasting food. Nice decor and friendly staff. Really enjoyed our first visit and will be back.

First visit. Delicious food served in time. Good selection of food and drinks. Staff very nice and excellent service. Looks a bit rough inside, could be a bit cleaner but not put off. Will definitely be going there again and regularly order from here.

Variety, freshness, interesting piquant flavours, Chain Street Indian Restaurant throws excitement into the dining experience.
I was well accommodated from the time I entered till the time I left. The warm staff assisted me with my every need. Her recommendations were spot on. All I can say is “try the thali”. I had this in addition to small buckets of samosa and bargees. Everything was cooked from scratch and delivered quickly. The food is well presented and tasted absolutely beautiful.
Chai Street also have an outdoor eating area on the high street to allow you to person watch or just admire the castle in the distance.

Chai Street Cardiff bay would for sure catch your attention when you are passing by the lanes in Cardiff bay!
Reasons the flashy decor, Colourful theme and Indian menu - they do serve some great Tea - Indian Version
Decor - 4/5
Loved the flashy bright vibrant decor this place has.
Its converted to a well lit place that seems like a Dhabha - with open trucks
then at the entrance we have a bar at the entrance. and then the seating options are quite comfortable too
The place has bollywood theme to it and has some old posters of Sunildutt and other bollywood actors movie posters .
They play some good bollywood numbers that adds up to the theme
Food -4/5- we choose to try the vegetarian biryani and Chicken handi biryani
The biryanis were served along with curd raitha papad and some pickle
The mix veg pickle did not go well with the biryani though
The curd raitha is great again.
Then comes the main show stealer biryani
The vegetarian version is a mix of all veggies paired with some delectable spices like cardamom , dalchini and the rice used to cook is basmati
the rice is really aromatic and tasted good
Then comes the chicken biryani the meat is cooked well and has loads of simple spices.
then rice is a bit over cooked but liked it as it tasted great.
WE tried some drinks on the menu and they are pretty descent
The bill came up to 25 pounds of two of us with drinks
Service -4/5
The staff in here are dutiful
and polite
they make sure they do the needful and are attentive too
VFM - 4/5
Keeping in mind the location , the taste of food and service this place deserves a big round of applause
The food options are quite good. Will come back soon to try out their other delicacies.

I use to go here a lot when I worked in Cardiff, so glad to see its still booming and food still tastes great, I'd recommend the Thaali or the Samosa chaat 👌🏾
S.
The venue (Vegetarian and Vegan friendly)is quite central (Near the train Station), the food was of good taste, though I though they had a little less variety compared with a few other places, the food, Value and service were Great, I would definitely go back. It's baby friendly too, however they don't have a designated bin for nappies.
K. L.
First visit. Delicious food served in time. Good selection of food and drinks. Staff very nice and excellent service. Looks a bit rough inside, could be a bit cleaner but not put off. Will definitely be going there again and regularly order from here.
Y. D.
Flavoursome food. Thali is definitely this restaurants speciality. I'd definitely go for the medium to large as the small option doesn't have much meat. The mango Coco drink was delicious.
E. R.
Very good Indian restaurant one of the best in Cardiff. Food is delicious and not expensive. We have been eating there regularly.

Very tasty food😋. I am eating here almost everyday. You can customise food as well as per your requirement. Staff is very helpful and polite. Wonderfull work guys👏👏
K. N.
Ordered the paneer makhani - was excellent - good authentic Indian flavour (only slight improvement would be to add some extra fresh cream). Naan was done well and of good size. Service was fast and Ridwaan, my waiter, was friendly. I would definitely come back.
T. T.
Just a brilliant little place!
They made sure my food was cooked vegan, rather than vegetarian as per the menu, nothing was too much trouble. All members of staff friendly and accommodating. Fantastic atmosphere, liked the decor and music, really transports you to an exotic Indian place, even though you are right by Cardiff Castle.
The kitchen is in full view at the back of the restaurant so you can see everything being cooked. Food is fresh and really outstanding.
More southern Indian style dishes available than your average Indian restaurant, definitely come here if you want to try something new.
So good we came back again, and would be top of my list anytime I'm eating out in Cardiff. Have recommended it to others who also had a fantastic experience.
S. K.
Food and cocktails were amazing and service was really attentive. Will definitely be visiting again!

Such a great little find! We were wanting something relaxed, but filling and this was the perfect place. The food was delicious, service was fast and super friendly. Great flavors!

Brilliant restaurant. Beautiful curries and a full range to suit all diets from omnivore to vegan. And Kingfisher in tap. Highly recommend.
h. s.
Food is excelente. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.

Convenient location, tastes alright (ie great for global non India non U.K and Ireland Standards, but doesn't compare with others I've tried in the U.K. and Ireland). The dal had a very slight unfresh taste. Convenient location in the city centre.
P. H.
Amazing food and cocktails. Brilliant service from all the staff. Highly recommended!

After the disheartening scoreline at the Cymru v Ffrainc match on Saturday 22 Feb 2020, my friend and I enjoyed what can only be described as the best Indian food that we have ever experienced. I would recommend 5 stars for the amazingly authentic food, the attentiveness and helpfulness of all the staff, the decor and above all the relaxed ambience of the venue. Try the Thali selection and the moreish Mango Coco. Cannot speak highly enough of this restaurant. Namaste, Chai Street.
C. R. C. (.
This place has a great atmosphere and colourful interior design and music. Nice vibes. The menu has a good variety of expensive and inexpensive meals and cater to most dietary needs as far as I could see. Good vegetarian options. The food arrived quickly and it was nice, but nothing special. The rice tasted like instant microwave rice but the naan was fresh and tasted incredible. Curry was good. The waiter was really lovely and attntive to our table. He was only too happy to explain what the different dishes were, which were vegetarian, which weren't ect...
10% student discount too! Woohoo
S. B.
Very few India restaurants live up to thier name and chai Street is one of them. Liked the ambiance and food.Veg thali was excellent and must try. Dont forget the mango lassi. Hope they can make the experience and food consistent.
T. M.
Food was average. Pleasant taste but nothing overly special or delicious. Portions were quite small considering the $$. Service was on the slower side. Loved the atmosphere
s. r.
If you are looking for the best south Indian Kerala food visit this place you will be in awe 😍
R. A.
I would say the food is slightly toned down in spices & flavours to suit the western palate. Still tasty & flavourful. Good decor & ambiance.
R. P.
Really nice food and good value! Can't complain at all! Finished the meal feeling very satisfied
G. P.
Service is very slow and staff dont smile or engage but the food is decent for now and again. Could do with more interaction with customers and quicker service.
L. s.
Ordered chicken noodles, and it was Brilliant. Probably the best I ever had in UK. Just ask to add extra spice. Can do better with quantity though.
W. w. P.
Being British I’ve had a lot of Indian food
This is possibly the best bhaji I’ve ever had
Also a steal price wise it’s very reasonable
J. J.
Quality food as always. Great atmosphere. Lovely staff. A pleasure to visit.
J. B.
Great meal and service. Thali was amazing value. Would definitely return. Suggest going a bit early as can't book if less than 4,we got a nice table by the window, and the place was quite at 5pm on a Saturday. By 6.30pm, it was full and people were starting to queue. Couldnt recommend more!
J. K.
Food is OK but wouldn't rave about it.. On entering we were unsure where we should wait as no one acknowledged us, we figure out where to stand and it still took 5mins before anyone acknowledged we were there and a while longer to be seated. Staff were pleasant but not very customer focused. Papadums were good but a very stingy pickle tray for 2. The chefs non-vegetarian thali (odd description!) was reasonably good if not unimaginative and the fish thali fairly bland.

Excellent food. Brought back memories from back home (Mumbai) will be going again soon.
Went again there today 25th March excellent food and excellent service...love it.

A must visit restaurant for Indian street food experience at Cardiff city centre. Great host, excellent service and delicious authentic food 🤩
S. T.
Awesome food! And I like the feel of the restaurant! We did the set meal! Really value for money!
c. r.
Very good food, especially the Thali. The jackfruit curry was amazing, my first time eating jackfruit and now I'm a big fan of it. Prices quite high but worth it for food and pleasant atmosphere. Staff quite professional.
P. S.
Really friendly staff! Food was swift and super tasty! Will come back again next time im staying in Cardiff for sure!!
A. E.
Best authentic Indian food in Cardiff. The food is nothing like we’ve had before and is consistently good which is a plus point. Service is great, staff very friendly and efficient. We have become regulars and food/service has always been first class can’t fault it.
M. B.
Good lunch deals. Had the tandoori naan box and healthy box is also nice. Could have done with a proper salad instead of a few leaves and a little bit more mint sauce but otherwise enjoyed it. Been here for sit down meal before had the taali which I felt wasnt tasty or good value for money.
N. K.
Great place to visit in Cardiff for good and authentic Indian food. The staff is also very polite and friendly. Tried some of their dishes like Noodles, Thali and Chicken Curry and they all are amazing :) :)
I. K.
Nice place with very good food.
Not your usual curry house, more of a 'street food' kind of offering. So it was interesting to try unusual things, but very enjoyable. Recommended if u fancy a change.

Very good super Indian dishes , great spice , love it so much and am coming back at least once a week. I really recommend and also there is 20% discount in some of menu
A. M. J.
Food (Tawa Fish & Chai Express meal Indian Masala Chai ) was really good but it is small portions for the price £20
T. M.
Great food & friendly staff reminded me of my time living in Delhi. The best thali in the UK full of all the right flavours & spices. I will definitely be back next time I am in Cardiff.
P. M.
Something quite different as curry houses go but very pleasant and certainly worth a visit- meals aren’t expensive and offer something different- they also serve Indian red and white wines - actually quite good and a change from the normal fare. Try the veg or meat special for a genuine Indian street meal
H. M. (.
Food great. However, I became a year older before getting my food
L. R.
Visited on a busy Saturday evening amazing service all staff were really friendly and fun can’t fault it one bit. Delicious food and even better cocktails. Great seating area outside with wicked music and atmosphere definitely worth a visit if your in Cardiff city centre
H. M.
Excellent food. Probably the most authentic Indian food I have had in the UK. Nice cozy place and awesome cocktails. Highly recommended.
G. V.
Great service, delicious food and amazing non alcoholic cocktails served by friendly staff. Perfect Vegan food
C. A.
Great place with many different dishes to try!
R. T. R.
Very nice food considering how well even a vegetarian dish is cooked. Staff are warm too. After the dinner staff came to enquire how the food was and chatted with us.
H. S.
Nice aubergine curry and tiger prawns
A. B.
Can’t rave about this place enough. Have recommended to all friends and family. Hidden gem in Cardiff - food is to die for, the service is impeccable and the cocktails are fabulous. Definitely making this place a regular spot.
G. B.
First time at Chai Street. Called in of the off chance and really enjoyed.Great service wirh a relaxed atmosphere. Staff member took time to explain dishes and came back after we needed more time to decide. Ordered the Lamb Thali plate with a couple of side orders and really enjoyed the mix of flavours. Menu was simple but has enougg range and offered a variety of meals. Will definetly return 👍🏻
D. H.
Thoroughly enjoyed the Chicken Thali - every element tasted great. Good service too.
M. C.
Excellent food, friendly staff
R. M.
The food was superb very tasty great variety to suit everyone. Busy evening and the service we received was very good efficient and friendly. Relaxed atmosphere, with fantastic cocktails and great music.
S. S.
The food was fantastic, reminding me of home cooked food. It is authentic Indian Cuisine. The only downside was the customer service which left us a little bit wanting.
A. L.
Popped in today, friendly service, lovely cocktails, ice cold beers and absolutely beautiful food. Can't wait to go back.. Great place. Thanks 👌
I. G.
Very authentic Indian food outside of India, great location. Best Indian food in the area. It’s nice to be able to see the chef’s cooking the food. Food did take a little while to come out but as they were very busy it was expected and it didn’t disappoint, great flavours. service was really good too. Only downfall is the restaurant needs a bit updating as it seems quite old although it’s clean but it gives a real feel of being back home in India.
J. S.
Really lovely interior, knowledgeable and friendly staff, amazing fresh food and the prices are reasonable
R. M.
3.5
Being Indian I think my review will be biased as I expected a different (read more rich ) flavour from the food !
The staff was friendly and helpful.
The chhole bhature were soso and so was the chai. .
Tandoori chicken is the highlight of our meal as it was served on a fancy sizzling hot plate with some fries and dips.
The samosa chat was decent and went well.
The gajar halwa was disappointing - just a lump of boiled carrots with almost no flavour or 'bhuna texture'
Overall not bad for Wales standard !!
L. H.
Most authentic Indian restaurant in Cardiff. Food service is quick, fresh ingredients and proper chai too! Real tasty food!!
S. L.
Great food full of flavour very tasty but the portion sizes are quite small considering the price and the service was quite poor asked 3 times for some water but never got any and gave up asking in the end... The cocktails were nice too no dessert menu either came away nearly 50 quid lighter for 2 people and still not full
G. P.
My preferred restaurant when working in Cardiff. Really relaxed atmosphere, accommodating staff who can tweak menu to your liking and I like being able to see a kitchen making it all fresh for you. Recommend the vegetable thali. Very good for dietary restrictions as well.
V. K.
Indian food you can get it here.
We have chicken and mutton thali .which has lots of item in plate.
M. H.
Great freshly cooked food, attentive staff
Y. K. (. K.
Great main dish, food had great flavour and portions were okay. In contrary, the desserts were very very small and therefore way too expensive. Strangely, it took very long for the dessert to be served. The taste was still okay though. Service was kind of negligent, but friendly. It was also a bummer that half of the menu was 'out'. We also saw one of the waitresses go out for more groceries, not very professional.
M. P.
Really excellent small, cafe style restaurant. My chicken dish was really tasty, served quickly by the nice guy at front of house.
g. m.
One of the finest Indian restaurant in Cardiff. A bit above average cost.
P. F.
Never try the limbu (Lemon) Soda as they use lemon Syrup instead of fresh Lemon. It was tasting no where close to Lemon. Guess how much they charge for that? It's 3 pounds. Lamb curry was good but achari chicken was no where close to achari chicken. In no angle it had achar flavour.
A. D.
Lovely food, great staff.
T. I. J.
The Food was amazing the service from the lady was great very friendly and welcoming. i had the Thali, Very tasty, i will be back again.
T. S.
One of the best Indian restaurants in Cardiff. Once you get your head around the menu.
The food was amazing would highly recommend. Not given a 5 as the service was a little slow. The restaurant is very small so can be busy at times. Wish you could give half stars as 4.5 I feel would be more appropriate.
M. B.
Such a delicious food & nice staff 👌🏻

It’s very good place to eat with family lots of different menu options.especially my daughter loves lamb biryani.very good and friendly staff.planning to visit again
O. R.
Great staff. Food was not the standard "I'll have this" usual order and actually encourages you to try something new. Recommended.
R. H.
Ate lunch here today, the food was spot-on & the staff were lovely. Extremely reasonably priced for the centre of Cardiff, All round good experience.
M. M.
Very nice small restaurant staff were very polite and helpful would recommend a visit and will definitely use again

I always visit Chai street and the Indian food is just amazing. Staff is so friendly. Alex, liz , Nishanth and lvan will take care of your drinks and food which is just amazing. You should visit the restaurant and you will love it!!❤️
C. P.
Delicious food, though the biriani had little meat - yum nonetheless. Reasonable price - £30 for 2 without drinks. Nice and lively venue. However, below average service - we had to request our own menu, request to order, and waited a long while before being able to call the waiter over to request the bill.
L. C.
Really liked the food, lots of choice and some really interesting dishes on the menu. Will definitely be going back.
H. T. S.
A wonderful experience! Far more authentic than your "standard" Indian restaurant. Kind staff, short wait times and brilliant food. Had a great time. A lot of options for vegetarians!
r. r.
Wonderful authentic southern Indian street food. Simple and flavoursome, decent portion size. Bit addictive really - the lamb and the fish are so nice it’s hard to give it a miss!
A. J.
The best starter I’ve had in a long long long time. Highly recommend the chicken 65 it’s fantastic!! Friendly staff and reasonably cheap. If you want a curry in Cardiff city centre this is the only one you should try!!!
Update - the new menu is great, great to have a bit more choice. The toilets however are disgusting. We changed our newborns nappy and the changer looked like a murder scene. A huge improvement needed.
M. P.
Authentic Indian cuisine in the centre of Cardiff. Really like the vibe in here. Delicious food prepared by a chef in view of the diners - I recommend the chickpea bhatura!
Very reasonably priced as well so worth a regular visit. Will be going back for a fourth and fifth visit :)
J. s.
Just ordered take away via just eat as sadly can’t dine in at the mo. Wow the food was amazing as always. Missed this place. If you haven’t tried it you NEED to!
A. B.
Great welcome. The menu was well laid out, and all questions answered. These are simple, delicious plates of food. Plenty of choice, and although at first you may feel the portions are small, they are tasty and filling. An Indian version of Tapas, sort of! A party of four, we had two starters between us and a Thali each. A nice bottle of wine, two deserts and a cocktail each. The cocktails were a surprise offering on the drinks list but well worth it!
Our only, very minor niggle was the very low level of lighting. In the evening I'm sure it is atmospheric, at lunch time for four young at heart 60's it was a bit drab.
j. r.
The food is okay and the portions are small. Although, I really liked their sambhar.
P. G.
Loved the food a lot and bollywood songs as well at this place . Restaurant with great ambience and lovely staff.Highly highly recommend 👌

Brilliant food and service! Cocktails were amazing too!! Defo worth visiting

Had a good time at chair street. The food was delicious and the staff were very polite. Definitely will visit again.

Visited for first time on a very busy Saturday evening after the rugby Didn’t have to wait for to long for a table, ordered some drinks at the bar while waiting for the table.
The atmosphere was fantastic, considering they were busy the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Me and my partner both ordered the tahlis, food and flavours were absolutely spot on, portion sizes just right.
we love an Indian and have tried many places in Cardiff got to be said chai street is probably the best by far.
The flavours were very authentic, not something I have eaten before. Can’t wait to return to try many of the other dishes on the menu. Compliments to the very talented chefs and thank you to the staff who made the experience of chai street even better!!!!
L. T.
We were looking for a good Indian restaurant in cardiff town and came across chai street. We were unsure from the outside but decided to go for it. When we entered the staff were really accommodating and friendly we were shown to a table close to the kitchen. We ordered some small plates to start and some curry bowls with rice and naan. The food was exceptional and the flavours were nothing like I’ve tried before!
Would recommend this restaurant and would definitely return
Y. A. H.
Came with family last week food is so tasty and good. Looking for good Indian food best resturant for proper Indian taste and food in Cardiff service is a really freindly and she was really polite and check on table to see if we need anything else and really nice talking to my children we will come again thank you.

Sunday night dinner, quiet but a decent atmosphere. Very interesting interior. Menu takes some understanding, but has lots of interesting options. We had two chicken starters, both of which were very tasty and some poppadums, also good - not too greasy. Pickles/suaces were a little stingy and the yogurt/mint one didn't taste right so we gave it a wide berth. Keema and bhatura mains with some rice. All very tasty (bhatura not too greasy again). Really nice flavours and a nice place for casual dining. £30 for two including a couple of beers is damn good value.
s. w.
Good food, great staff. Chicken was super tender, prices for a main £10_15.nice atmosphere. Worth a visit for a modern take on classic Indian food.
M. W.
Visited chai street this evening, second visit. Amazing food. Fabulous service, the lady who served us couldn’t do enough for us. She recommended a few dishes which were fantastic. Love the new menu. Will definitely be visiting more often.

Amazing place was recommended by a friend. We loved it food was top notch. service by I think his name is aj possibly Australian guy was of a very high standard. Will definitely be returning.

Awesome food, lovely staff!
We went for a meal on a Friday night and we don't regret it one bit!
The street food and thali style means you get lots of small dishes and they were all fantastic, unusual and tasty!
Go!

Chicken Thali was great. Well worth a visit

This was a great place to go on a match day. Good variety of food with impressive veggie options. Had a thali which was all excellent, perfectly cooked and spiced. I will definitely be heading back here when I'm around next time.

Authentic taste of India. I had a lamb curry it was beautiful. Very friendly staff and very good price. 100% recommend. Fell upon this place by accident and wish we had one back in plymouth
P. S.
Cardiff is a place where you will get really amazing Indian food. This place is worth visiting not just because it has Indian food but due to its richness in flavours and excellent customer service. After cricket match I happened to explore this well known restaurant on High street Cardiff. I ordered Chicken Thali and chicken biryani ( that’s all I could eat). Chicken thali- consisting of dal, rice, one vegetable, chicken curry, pickle, pappadom and naan- good quantity and tasty. Dal could have been better. Chicken Biryani and raita satisfied my taste buds. Couldn’t finish all of it but the quantity was worth the money I paid. Well cherry on the cake is they have 10% student discount as well. The Indian girl in the restaurant was very humble and quick in taking orders and serving. Quality great, quantity great, customer service excellent.

Great food, fantastic flavours , great staff, will be visiting here again.

Properly delicious, honest Indian food. They were accommodating of us as a large group despite not booking, and the food was universally devoured by all. I had the special non-veg Thali and was not disappointed. Highly recommended.
l. f.
Visited while busy, service a little slow but friendly and accommodating. The tikka masala was beautiful with the peshwari naan. Also the aubergine vegetable dish was gorgeous!! Always enjoyed the food!
W. F.
Tasty Thali for adults and spiced up naan bread pizza for the kids. A lovely meal.
N. J.
One of the very few authentic Indian restaurants outside London, that too in the middle of the city centre! My mother and I were only stopping by briefly in Cardiff for a weekend break in Wales and highly recommend the Fish Thali at Chai Street.

Absolutely delicious cocktails and food was amazing . Staff could not do enough,
P. L. M.
Good food and great flavour. Service could be a little quicker.
N. K.
Food was reasonably good. Unfortunately they did not have any fishes which was disappointing. Thali was good but expect smaller quantity.
I. S.
Amazing authentic Indian street food with fantastic cocktails!
F. F.
The best Indian restaurant for me in Cardiff
K. C.
Polite service and lovely food! Our first time visiting and we will be back for more :)
T. J.
Delicious food, lovely service and a delightful night out.
D. W.
A stunning indian style cuisine with a different take to your average indian style restaurant. Inspired by street food the Chia Indian restaurant is a favourite of mine and deserves a 5 star. The drink selection is very well varied as you can select an actual ipa ale chia style specially brewed from Brecon brewery. Fantastic service and well worth dining too.
n. c.
Amazing homemade Indian cooking at it’s finest. Would never go anywhere else after tasting chai street.
Only downfall portions not big enough as so delicious.
A. F.
Great casual restaurant. The menu contains small plates suitable for a snack or larger portions if you are looking for a full meal. The food is simple and delicious and it's well worth ordering a range of items - some of the dishes were unfamiliar to me and a treat to try.
D. M.
Always excellent food for a very reasonable price. The thalis are particularly good!
G. M.
Quite disappointed with our visit today. The tables were dirty and there used glasses, plates over the bar area. Food was good, I had the mix meat tahli. And a chai latte, that had to have extra milk in it.
N. V.
Food quality is awesome and Staff really friendly.. very nice atmosphere with Bollywood song and them..
If you are in Cardiff then this one is the best option for food on daily basis.
C. M.
Lovely food, really tasty, however, prices dont include tax and service charge. I Felt upset for the group of friends that came out for my birthday. We all felt like we were swindled.
s.
I don’t usually leave food review, but in this case I thought I would make an exception. In short the food here is absolutely amazing....one of (if not thee) best Indian restaurants I have been to. Definitely recommend to anyone living in or visiting Cardiff 👍
C. L.
Lovely lamb vindaloo 😋
M. W.
Lamb Pallipallyam is worth a visit on its own. Otherwise, the food is very good, but from a limited menu that is comparatively pricey. The seats are quite uncomfortable, the space cramped and the room noisy. This, I assume, is to reinforce the "Street Food" chic. It works on a novelty value level, but would not persuade me to return.
D. N.
Fantastic, never been before will be going back again food is excellent so is the decor, try a King Kobra for a drink.
I. G.
One of the authentic Indian food in Cardiff I ate today.. most of the Indian restaurants are not run by Indian chefs so they don't get an authentic taste although they are nice... but this restaurant is really nice and I loved the Tandoori and Chicken Biryani .. it was just perfect
A. r.
Amazing food and service by the restaurant crew. The cocktails are pretty good too.
S. P.
Amazing place for dinner. Nice Indian spread and yummy. If you are in Cardiff it is a must try. I tried this place 5 times until now and it's never a disappointment.
R. L.
Hands down the best indian food I have tried amazing fresh food brilliant service really enjoyed the atmosphere there aswell
F. B.
Great little Indian restaurant with quality food. More biassed toward Goan style food in my opinion. Not your tikka masalla or vindaloo place basically so if that's what you're looking for there are other places. Well worth a visit. Part of the Mint and Mustard group.
T. J.
A simple very relaxed place with Great cocktails loved the Long island ice tea! The street food was real Authentic indian cuisine! We travelled there this year and it took us straight back 😊
k. 2.
Food was good but sort the menu out its so complicated telling you to refer to a poster which is silly. Does nothing to highlight dairy free meals and almost made us consider leaving and going some where else as we had to keep coming up to the bar and asking someone to explain the menu over and over
E. F.
Chai stree indian is a little beauty. The staff are lovely & the food is absolutely delicious. We have never had an indian like it 🥰
F. H.
The only place I like to eat this kind of food. Normally if you go out for curry or something similar it's covered in oil. But not here! And they have some really interesting dishes.
Service could be a bit more professional and on the ball as they forgot a couple of things but I'd definitely eat again, sometimes it's just what you fancy and nothing else will do
A. N.
Moderate eat in facility. Food is more or less okay, but nowhere near to Indian taste.
Staff interaction /hosting needs a lot of improvement.
J. A.
A must. The food is amazing the service is superb JP and Glen an awesome bunch.
S. S.
Nice venue but the service was a bit poor.
I felt like their focus was on another couple
S. U.
Great service , great food ! Great place highly recommend .
D. P.
Tasty food, great beer and good prices
L. S.
Me and my friend Lisa went there for a change and we both had different meal's and it was lovely service wws good
S. J.
Truly lovely Mothering Sunday afternoon spent with very attentive staff. Excellent food and drink
R. H.
Truly wonderful food at a reasonable price, and a warm, intimate atmosphere. The service isn't the most attentive but with a biryani like this you won't really care.
S. S.
Very good place to eat osm food
G. H.
Very impressed withmenu and quality of dishes. Delightful.
S. M.
If you are craving for something Indian then must try their Thali, its more than enough for two and very tasty..cant express how you feel if you have a good food after a tiring day ...strongly recommend
M. L.
Lovely food, service quite slow for those sitting outside. I preferred the one in Cowbridge Rd.
b.
Goan fish curry was devoid of onions n garlic which I normally associate. Only 3 pieces of fish. Could do with a couple of small pots of raita and chutney to make it more interesting
L. P.
Very reasonably priced with good selection of items on the menu. A bit crammed but you will not be disappointed if you want good Indian food.
A. K.
Amazing food , lovely atmosphere & very kind staff
J. W.
Friendly staff, basic service, excellent curry. Loved it. 👍

Amazing food, super friendly staff and kind, This place is owned by an Indian hence food is authentic, very nice ambience gives dhaba like feel. It's a must visit when near the port.
M. D.
A little gem of a place with a nice calm atmosphere, ideal for an intimate evening ♥️
C. B.
Great food, friendly service.
N.
A little gem. Incredible flavours and very reasonable prices.
F. N.
Chai Street has been one of my favorite places to have Indian food at. It is different from your local Indian take away or even sit in, in that the menu is more diverse and hence less common. I have been there several times and tried different things on the menu, but I must say that the Thali does stand out and is full and bursting with flavours, something often lacking in your classic Indian restaurant. The atmosphere was quite nice as well, as you felt transported in another world with the dim lights and well-picked decorations. I enjoyed a nice Masala tea at the end of my meal!
D. C.
Fantastic food and service. Great evening spent with friends. We all enjoyed our meals.
A. W.
Love this , fantastic food and staff
H. R.

G. H.
Very tasty food and you could see it being cooked. Prices reasonable. I would go back again.
L. J.
great food and sexy waitress
K. P.
The food was ok. Masala chai was way below expectations. Chai should be with more milk not just water with masala in it. Rates are reasonable.
C. S.
Amazing food and cocktails service a bit slow
D. H.
Authentic presentation and taste to food. Exceptional service including recommending dishes as part of the Thali. Would fully recommend eating at Chai Street as I have also ate at the Cardiff Bay restaurant that was equally as good a dining experience. Wellfield road restaurant topped it!
r. g.
