The best meal I've ever eaten!! We had the tasting menu and it was exquisite, the combination of flavours were delicious and very well thought out. Every dish was well presented. The service was excellent with each dish explained and the atmosphere was great. Will definitely be visiting again. Michelin star quality.

We had the August tasting menu and it was absolutely incredible, the attention to detail in all dishes was outstanding as were the flavours and presentation. Really felt like Michelin star food! Very accomplished kitchen, been a couple of times now and both were great. Only slight minuses are music sometimes a bit loud and lighting too cold and direct in the evening. In summer eating outside on the terrace is delightful.

I tried the taster menu at this restaurant on a family night out. This restaurant is situated a bright and well presrnted venue in Pontcanna. Parking can be a bit of an issue so plan your transport ahead. The dishes on the taster menu were beautifully presented and prepared. I highly recommend trying this menu. The staff were very knowledgeable and courteous. A fantastic experience.

Absolutely blown away by the brilliant food here. We had the set menu and the value and quality of the food was seriously impressive. With the menu changing to regularly I think you'd always be in for a treat. We'll be back again to try out the tasting menu!

What an amazing lunch. Outstanding food and great service. Can't wait to go back again. Our sourdough bread with marmite butter to start and a little taste of pork belly with mint sauce started the meal. Both were delicious. Then I had the crab custard and tomato tartlet with smoked sardine and lime mayo. Every mouthful was delicious. My main meal pork belly, cheek, scotch egg and beetroot looked too pretty to eat but, again, it was amazing. The scotch egg had a taste of curry and the pork belly was amazing. Every mouthful had something different to enjoy. My dessert chocolate, banana miso, Jerusalem artichoke and walnut finished off the meal perfectly. The chocolate was so smooth. I finished with coffee and another little extra a creamy piece of Fudge!!! It was lunch heaven. Well done!!!

Just a fantastic experience from start to finish. My wife and I have wanted to visit for nearly two years now and we both went for the tasting menu. Standouts for us were the plaice dish and the fermented oyster. The sourdough with marmite butter is fantastic. Special mention for our main server Claudia who was a credit to Heaneys. Amazing restaurant that lets you enjoy exquisite food in a relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere. The menu offers unique and interesting small plates that taste incredible and are perfect for sharing over a glass or two of wine. The staff are friendly and attentive but not over-crowding and have a good knowledge of the food they serve. The only tiny critism I have is that the chairs don't pull into the tables very well so my partner (who is of small stature) felt a bit far away from the table and was a little uncomfortable. But this in no way took away from the general experience and we were both very pleased with our meal. Definitely would go back for more!

True fine dining; visually stunning courses that backed up their looks with great flavours. The tasting platter showcased a great variety of flavour profiles, from subtle oysters to punchy duck croquettes. It's very easy for this style of food to become lost in its own pretense, but Heaneys gave the sense that it was staying unwaveringly true to its core goal of making food that looks good and tastes good. Great staff, too. Very happy to explain each ingredient and it's contributions to the dish, even giving simpletons like us easy to understand flavour references.

FOOD AS ART NOT AS SUSTENANCE I find writing a review of Heaneys a difficult task, the food was some of the nicest I have ever tasted, but the overall effect of the meal was to leave me hungry and needing to eat something when I got home from the restaurant. This seems strange as Tommy Heaney is an Irish man and I have always associated Ireland, both North and South, with generosity, especially of food, be it the famous Irish Fry or Ulster Fry or the food I’ve experienced at Richard Corrigan’s or Clare Smyth’s restaurants and elsewhere. The concept of Heaney’s with its multiple small plates is a clever one as it allows for a wide range of flavours and textures, but the execution of the dishes makes me wonder if the chef was forced to eat his vegetables as a youngster as, apart from the sprouting broccoli, any veg was in the form of a tiny dice or a cream or gel. This meant that I felt the need of a dish of vegetables, or new potatoes alongside the small plates, and these options weren’t available. In the end I added two orders of chips, and these were excellent chips, but they weren’t enough to stretch the menu from an exploration of food to a real dinner. I know all that sounds negative, but I reiterate that the experience of Heaneys, apart from the meanness on the food, was an excellent one. The service from walking through the door and the attentiveness of Oliver our waiter and the other serving staff was of the highest quality. The setting is also a pleasant one, with well used lighting and enough space between diners so that the space does not feel cramped. My partner and I followed the suggestion of our waiter and ordered a selection of dishes and were really pleased with them all. A lovely selection of flavours, with well-cooked food, served with care and attention. But why, oh why was there not more vegetables or something of substance, so that the diner leaves not only feeling they have had an artistic demonstration of how food can be prepared but also dinner which feeds them.

We went with option of tasting menu menu and since I don’t eat meat they accommodated us with fish and vegetarian options. Food was good overall however there are certain elements of the dish such as sauce lacked flavour. We were also served smoked salmon with paprika on its own which can be a little too salty. Four stars for his efforts. Also good selection of wines and cocktails.

My wife and I have been eager to visit this trendy foodie establishment for some time, and we loved everything about it. We went on Valentine's day in the evening where a 10 course tasting menu was served after a welcome glass of fizz. Every course was balanced, flavourful and apportioned. Nothing overly rich or lacking in punch. Almost half of the courses were wonderdul fish dishes with amazing variety. Overall a lovely evening. Highly recommended. Thanks to all. Will be back soon...

Looking through the reviews I’m beginning to think we missed something. Perhaps we caught them on the wrong day. Overall the food is good quality however 80% of our dishes on the tasting menu were fish based which was a bit much, especially when they’re cold. A lot of the ingredients were involved in a number of dishes which did detract from the concept of a tasting menu as a lot of the flavours blended across the dishes. We didn’t enjoy the caviar or the foam which appeared in a number of dishes. One detail that is easily fixed is the acoustics of the restaurant, we really struggled to have conversation at our table as the noise was very loud as a result of the hard furnishings and questionable choice of music. These are easily fixed and actually with a handful of changes this restaurant could really elevate itself to a high level. Clearly a talented chef and service team, with some of the above points taken on board this would easily be a 5 star potential. Unfortunately in London restaurants like this are 2 a penny. This said, overall, we still had a decent evening. Cocktails and wine menu were very good.

Their Sunday roasts are the best I've had but, like anything that's this good, you'll have to book well in advance for a table. Went for Sunday lunch. I cannot fault Heaneys. Their attention to detail and quality is exceptional. Served in chic modern surroundings the food and service were top class. All the dishes were excellent, but it was the small embellishments that really elevated the experience. Whether that be the mint sauce for the lamb, the oxtail croquettes or a frankly astonishingly fantastic dessert containing miso banana. These made already good dishes into something special. The only marginal fault was the roast potatoes, which may have benefited slightly from being a bit smaller. At this price point (32 for 3 courses) you could not do any better. I will be returning whenever possible and look forward to trying their tasting menu.

Always a pleasure...so much so, that if we don't eat here at least once a week, we have withdrawal symptoms 😋 Tommy Heaney tweaks the menu regularly and his food is always seasonal, so we can eat here regularly and still be delighted with new dishes ❤️ The food is excellent value, given it's consistently high quality and originality, and Heaneys has a good selection of wines including some excellent Coravin vintages 🍷 Tommy and Nikki have wonderful front of house staff, who quickly remembered our preferences which gives the restaurant a friendly, personal atmosphere...we almost feel part of the family having eaten here regularly for nearly a year 😘 We love Heaneys and have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant...do try it...you won't regret it 👍

A-ma-zing! A truly memorable meal for my "special" birthday. Didn't know quite what to expect, but the staff put us at ease and guided us through each exquisite course. Had excellent Sunday lunch “to go”. (due to COVID precautions) Starters: Fish cake, Beetroot. Mains: Ribeye & Brisket beef roast with Yorkshire pud, Lamb rump roast. Both with excellent vegetable selection. Dessert: Chocolate/ Hazelnut & salted caramel. All well packed to take away. After 4 mile car drive home. Starters ready to eat and enjoyed, mains onto pre heated plates and seconds in the microwave. Gravy 30 seconds in the microwave and the main course is served. Ample beef & lamb per serving. Then after time to let the first two excellent courses go down, the dessert was sublime. Starters & Desserts near Michelin standard with the main courses plenty for most. This was our first experience Heaneys Restaurant and we will be returning, highly recommended.

Food was very nice although very small taster plates for the price. For me they need to get their service right, not very attentive leaving you eye searching most of the time to order more drinks, dessert and coffee, all items they lost revenue on during our visit as we would have ordered a lot more if they had been regularly visiting our table. No matter how good the food is, you need the service to support it. I am trying not to be too harsh as the staff were lovely!

There were 5 of us for dinner. We ordered one of almost everything on the menu, which more or less worked out. The server’s description of dishes as ‘between tapas and Full meal size' was incorrect - they are tapas sizes, so could be shared between 2 or sometimes 3 at most In the case of the oyster – unsharable. And dishes came one or two at a time which meant sharing was tricky as someone had to miss out and wait for the next ones to arrive. We’d have preferred everything to arrive together. Still, everything was exquisite, original and delicious and we’ll certainly return for more of the food, despite the very echo-ey and noisy atmosphere which made conversation very difficult for the older members of our party – which was all of us. We appreciated the continuous free water, both still and sparkling (though a minor misunderstanding with the waiter at drinks ordering time – “I’ll just have water” - led to one of our party receiving a separate glass of still water with ice for which we were charged a few pounds). I think we’ll try for lunch next time, it feels more like a midday type of menu.

Disappointed at the way we were rushed through the courses with minimal explanations of the.food that were told to only 2 out of 6 of us.
