My first time at this restaurant and it will definitely not be my last. The staff were fantastic, courteous and extremely efficient. The hostess Claire was superb. I ordered the steak with garlic prawns. Wow! By far the best steak I have ever tasted

It’s good, but I think there are ways to improve. The service was fantastic. Sometimes a little too eager but that’s fine, it’s something to learn from as staff. Food wise, adored the starters, the scotch egg is a fantastic option and worth going for. Sever with a creamy mustard sauce which pairs so well with the yolk of the egg and the meaty flavour. A real highlight! The French onion soup was very tasty, it seemed like almost a more of a tomato base rather than a beef stock, none the less very enjoyable. The mains were a little bit of a let down, the roast chicken was very moist and flavoursome, as well as the mushrooms. But the fondant potato seemed under seasoned, the same goes for the spinach. They stuck out a lot on the plate as not reaching the flavour of the chicken and mushroom. My partners steak was cooked slightly under for the order. Same complaint about the spinach, and the chips we’re very good. Just a matter of seasoning, tightening the edges. Finally the mouse was superb with chantilly cream. Drinks were also fantastic, with a massive selection. Menu helpfully sets wines into their flavour profiles. Overall a good meal, but the mains a little bit of a letdown for the price.

As we were staying at the hotel attached to the restaurant, my husband and I made a booking for the three course set menu. Please be aware that this option is not available in the evenings (we did not see this stipulation when we looked online). We both found the venue to be very Covid-safe. We were not seated too near to anyone else and the menu we were provided with was single-use. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and accommodating, giving us excellent food recommendations, despite it only being her first week! We both had the Welsh rarebit, followed by the steak. For dessert, I had the bread and butter pudding and he had the chocolate ice cream. The food was delicious and the steak was the highlight of our meal. For just under £22 a head it was incredibly good value.

Fantastic meal, started with the scotch egg which was very tasty and then the fillet steak with peppercorn sauce, the steak was cooked to perfection and the chips were thick and very crunchy. We will definatley go again.

Had a fabulous bottomless brunch at MPW last weekend. The prosecco was delicious and topped up very regularly, the options on the menu were varied, although they were out of a few things on the day. That being said our excellent waiter Paul offered us alternatives which ended up being lovely. I opted for the shepherds pie which only came with peas and didn’t have potato on it, however Paul gave us a free portion of chunky chips due to the inconvenience which finished the meal off very well. For dessert I opted for the chocolate brownie and it was gorgeous. Overall the staff, food and drink was superb and the atmosphere at the restaurant was spot on. Would definitely re-visit and recommend.

I had high expectations when booking a meal at Marco Pierre Whites stakeholder bar & Grill, to be disappointed. Well I understand why restaurants have turned to paper menu's due to covid, the purpose of this is diminished when the paper menu's are reused. The Scotch egg starter was excellent, but Goat cheese on the beetroot and goat cheese salad was non existent and the prawn cocktail was very basic. The Main courses were very nice Cheese cake dessert was excellent, but the apple and almond crumble was again basic. Service left alot to be desired, there was no salt in the salt cellar, I asked for this was replaced only to given another empty cellar, when I brought this to the attention of the waitress she laughed. When the waiter brought the main meals to the table he didn't ask which meal was which giving people the wrong meals

Came here on a whim for a meal and was not disappointed. I had the pork á la milanese and my girlfriend had the colonel burger. Portion sizes were larger than anticipated (as is evident by the towering burger pictured) but not a negative. Pricing a little more than usual but still appropriate for the service and food we received. Definitely worth going to for either a one off or semi regular visits. Really nice setting and atmosphere even if you want a few drinks instead.

Indigo is my favourite place to stay in Cardiff so thought it was about time we try out this restaurant! Firstly they were very good at finding us a table on a busy Friday night at short notice. The food itself was pretty good, but not to the level of hype the brand is given. I also felt the menu was quite limiting around steak sauces, instead of giving sauce choices they offer the same steak with different toppings. The big let down to us was service, I don’t think our waiter had been given enough training, when we asked about a particular wine he had to ask if it was red or white, when we ordered a cider he came back and said it wasn’t in stock. Food came quick enough but we were never asked if we wanted any more drinks. We got a discount being hotel residents so turned out to be good value, and with a little improvement could be very good. Not sure id visit when full price though.

Recently revisited MPW for afternoon tea for my mums birthday. A very good experience great ambience lots of good hight quality food with friendly staff who were very open to us boxing up food to take away. Also live music which was very good, musician was excellent and added to the good experience. After our first visit we were a little disappointed but glad we went back as first experience possibly an unfortunate blip as things return to normal. Sadly we had a bad experience after going for a special occasion. Ordered mojitos and they weren't a good standard. We ordered the fillet steaks medium rare and when they came it wasn't well cooked. We had to complain and to be fair manager was apologetic and did compensate us. Hopefully just a blip bedding in new staff.

Wasn't sure what to expect here, but the food was incredible. The panco bread crumb chicken burger with triple cooked chips was a crunchy delight. The Perfect Eton Mess??? Yes, indeed. Soft, chewy, crunchy, juicy and mouthwateringly goodness. I would highly recommend Marc's Cardiff to anyone!

Oh my goodness. What. A. Meal. Came here for our wedding anniversary and left in a food coma. Started with the Welsh rarebit for me, the calamari rings for my wife and chicken crunches for my son. Amazing. Then had 10oz sirloin with chips and bernaise sauce. I've. Never had a better steak. It melted and was cooked to absolute perfection. My son had a burger which was equally amazing. For dessert, I had sticky toffee pudding, my wife had billionaires shortbread and my son had chocolate brownie. Unbelievably good on all counts. Would recommend to absolutely anyone.

Whilst we were staying in Cardiff we found a groupon deal for 2 courses. It's not the easiest place to find as it's situated in a hotel that previously was a shopping centre. When we arrived our first impressions were very good. We decided to both have a starter & a main. I had Welch rarebit & shepherds pie & my friend had smoked salmon & as burger. it was delicious. See photos. The toilets r on another floor which was a bit of a hike hence only 4 stars as not sure if they catered for disabled guests unless u used the lift to go down one floor.

Review for 28/01/2018 Just had lunch @MPW and it was a very different experience than from dinner back in December. Issues included poorly cooked food, questionable quality and unmentioned substitutions (confirmed in later emails) and general slow service. I did wonder about other reviews I'd read and now I've witnessed the other end of the Jekyll and Hyde like experience. Have told them I won't return until they sort it out. (star rating adjusted as an average) Review for 15/12/2017 Had a staff party there tonight and could not be better! Service, food and ambience could not have been better. Normally, if I get something half edible at a Christmas party booking it's a good start, so tonight was just a delight. Everyone had a great time there and I look forward to coming again in the new year with my wife.

Great atmosphere and great food. Our waiter Steven was super nice and helpful, he made sure that all my plates were suited to my nut allergy without making a fuss about it or making me feel out of place. Between the 4 of us we tried 3 different starters, 3 different main courses and 4 different desserts - and we enjoyed them all! Highlights were the camembert starter, charcuterie sharer main and the Eton mess dessert! Make sure you try the triple cooked chips!

Nice location, OK food, great service. Set menu very limited and uninspiring. If you’re planning on eating steak with the Groupon deal you paid in advance just know the ribeye comes with an £8 supplement. Also a shame that on top of the mentioned set menu we were charged an extra £9 for a bottle of water + service. 3 stars for the great service but -2 for the disappointing food and extra charges.

I was very dubious about eating here after reading all the poor reviews. However, I had bought a voucher before reading anything so had to go. It did not disappoint! We had 3 courses and every one was delicious. We had a chateaubriand for our mains and it was cooked to perfection and really tasty. The only negative I found is that we normally share a sauce for the steak but found the sauce portions were very small. Also the restaurant is very nicely decorated and the chairs were super comfy. Overall it was a very good experience.

As you would expect the food and service was excellent, the portions were generous and filling, I did not have enough room for desert which was a shame as they looked gorgeous, perhaps next time. Celebrated our anniversary at MPWS. Warm welcome from a great team of staff. Covid protocols were excellent - check in, masks and distancing. The menu had a good variety of choice and I opted for calamari as a starter, ribeye steak and a dark chocolate mousse for desert. My wife had calamari, chicken and bread and butter pudding. Each dish was outstanding in terms of presentation and taste (portion sizes were very good too). Staff were friendly and attentive throughout our visit. I would strongly recommend this restaurant and we will both return in the future. A lovely way to celebrate a special day.

Built on the top floor of the old Dominions Arcade office block and the conversion is a real success. Tasteful design and a well laid out restaurant and bar area. There is also a small outside balcony with views of the city centre and Principality Stadium. Staff were welcoming and service efficient. We enjoyed the food and it's nice to see a slightly expanded vegetarian section. Overall pricing fair, although some of the bottles and steaks were a little top heavy. Overall an excellent night.

Ate there on Saturday 19th September 2020. Carpet around our table had not been swept and could see other empty tables with flood on the floor too. Not keeping the floors clean really let the place down and would expect this to be part of the clean up process when dinners leave. During COVID-19 you only have 110 minutes to eat and they are clear on telling you that. My other half had steak and wanted it medium....it was more medium to well done. I had shepherd's pie....nothing spectacular even though the waitress recommended it. I"ve made better myself and did not think it was worth the price tag. Disappointing for a Marco Pierre White restaurant 😕

We enjoy the experience of afternoon tea. Attended Thursday, comfortable restaurant, and enjoyed the food provided. However have to say, the portion of cream for the scone element was the smallest ever received for one, let alone for sharing. Visited New Years Eve. Lovely restaurant. Great ambience. Staff very attentive and immaculate (other than the supervisor, of all people, who looked a bit scruffy). The evening started well with delicious starters... then our mains arrived. This restaurant sells itself as being a steakhouse but the beef Wellington let the meal down badly! Couldn't get a knife through the tough overcooked meat. Asked for a steak knife but still struggled. My partner''s lamb was overcooked too. Ate about half of my meat then complained. The supervisor, who although apologetic was quite surly. Demanding why I hadn't complained sooner. I said we had not had a check back to enquire whether we were happy. His response 'oh yes you did, you asked for a steak knife'. That was NOT a check back but me asking for that correct cutlery for the meal ordered as the normal knife couldn't do the job properly! When the bill came they had not taken the deposit off, to which the response was 'did you pay a deposit?' We were told when booking as it was NYE all bookings had to pay a deposit... if the staff on the night didn't know this requirement, how many other people were charged the full price of their meal not realising the overcharge. There was also a gratuity if £37 on the bill.... £37 for a meal for two... disgraceful! We were given a 10% discount for the inedible mains but if a steak restaurant of this calibre cannot get their signature dishes right, there is no way we will be returning

My partner booked a table for our anniversary. I walked in and was immediately greeted with an offer of drinks, my coat taken and guided to our table. I was impressed with the decor and diligence of the staff. Unfortunately, our table was squeezed in the middle of two other tables which reduced the ambience of the restaurant. It took away the intimacy we had hoped for. I couldn't help, but overhear conversations from both sides. This was off-putting. The servers did come over quickly and were efficient. I found their approach a little too sterile with no warmth of personality and no introduction of who they were and an explanation of the menu etc. I would expect this from this sort of restaurant I.e more up-market. We both ordered a steak. It was mediocre at best. It was satisfactory and tasty, but not exameplary as expected (due to cost and reputation ) with some rather fatty bits which I had to disgard of. The staff tended our table throughout, but did not ask whether our meal was OK. The bill arrived and the receipt already included a service charge, I think this is a bit presumptuous. I think tipping should be to the discretion of the diner rather than a presumed entitlement. The toilets were on a different floor which was a little annoying, bit of a trek mid meal, but the toilets were nice and clean with full sized mirrors. Great for us ladies! We paid the bill and the server didn't really make any conversion, nor did they grab our coats. We had to wait at the exit for our coats and then we hadn't been given a ticket for our coat so had to pick it out. Overall, it was all right, but definitely room for improvement.

I booked this as a birthday meal for my boyfriend. We both had the camembert for starter (1 each) which unlike other places was a perfect portion per person, it also tasted delicious. The staff were absolutely amazing and friendly and so polite. The staff knew a lot about the menu, when I ordered the rib eye and asked for rare, the waitress went on to explain that with that type of steak it would be rare for the most part but as you got closer to the bone it would be blue. The steak was genuinely the nicest steak I've ever tried, I don't know if it was a sauce, glaze or that the steak was marinated prior, but whatever it was tasted amazing. It was definitely a restaurant to keep in mind for the future, my boyfriend and I loved it!

Excellent very modern rooftop (6th floor) restaurant. Impressive from the moment you step out of the lift. We had lunch with adequate range of European dishes available to choose from. Everything was beautifully prepared and presented. Service was friendly and excellent. Good drinks menu. Very nice coffee to finish, which we could have taken onto the small rooftop veranda. Good rooftop view over central Cardiff including Rugby stadium and castle.

Pleasantly surprised with this place, a real hidden gem in Cardiff. A nice place, modern and good atmosphere and most importantly the food was good. I want for the 'T' bone steak that was lovely and had a few sides that were nice however pretty small, most steak places sides are usually big enough to share but these weren't sadly. All in all a good place with good food and staff.

I had purchased a two course meal with wine on Groupon, I was unsure of what to expect as I had read mixed reviews online before our visit but I have to say the food was very good and the wine was delicious. First time to this restaurant. For a MPW restaurant I didn't feel that overwhelming wow factor when walking in and during the time spent there. The singer was good but maybe a little too loud. My food was good but don't know that I loved it enough to say I want to return. I was out for this meal with my children and brother. He said the oil was old (whitebait to start) and by the end of the evening was repeating on him terribly. The children's chicken goujons were over cooked. It was nice to have had the opportunity to try a celebrity restaurant but don't know that I'd rush back.

Absolutely stunning restaurant, the food was beautifully cook to perfection. Welcomed upon arrival, shown to our table nothing is to much trouble for the staff there very friendly and welcoming always smiling which I find heart warming considering most restaurants you go to these days the staff are miserable and are obviously only there because they "need" the job. Appeared short staffed as left waiting on arrival for the maitre d . Been there quite recently. We have been given a groupon code for christmas. I have to admit food is quite tasty. But there were few things that were rather disappointing. The first, was the poached egg on my asparagus that wasn't poached. It was cooked to be runny, and just peeled after. I have even found a bit of egshell still sticking to the egg. Not to mention that the egg was cold. Next thing is when you have a groupon, be prepared not to be informed that you will be charged for everything. I dont have a problem for paying for extras, desert, tea coffee and etc but I would like to be informed beforehand. But no one tells you that the bottle of water that is served on the very begging is paid extra. Then when when I couldn't decide what sauce I would like to have served on my main course, I have been told that I have to pick one, and that I can't have that dish without a souce. Now the interesitng fact is that the sauce was £3.50 extra on the bill. In the end all the extras were worth more than the groupon itself. Next thing is that there was a service charge on the bill, 10%, fair enough. But then it was deducted from the full quote, and the groupon cost was wisible on the bill. Lets imagine someone gets a groupon like us and would not buy anything else. First of all, he will know how much someone spent on that gift, secondly, will he be charged 10% of the groupon? 3stars only. Food was fine, but the experience itself left me feeling tricked into spending more. It wasn't clear what was in the deal and that everything was extra, even the steak dish wich was extra by it self(that actually was mentioned in the menu)and that i was forced do pick a sauce that was extra again

What can I say? Visited on 24th February to celebrate our 15th Wedding Anniversary and it was fantastic. From the moment we arrived on the 6th floor everything was excellent. The restaurant was contemporary and relaxed, the staff were friendly and the food was impeccable. There was live music which was played by two female solo artists with gorgeous voices which complimented the atmosphere in the restaurant. Yes, it maybe more expensive than other restaurants but the quality of the food and the service we received more than outweighed the cost.

If you wish to waste your hard earned money, then don't!, walk across the street to Greggs and get a Steak Bake, and then buy yourself a new top, you'll save money, not be disappointed and you'll not have your night ruined by the service and the quality. Does MPW actually realise what goes on in his restaurant? Or does they just pay to use his name? Will regret even giving this one star.

The food was delicious, compliments to the chef, but the service is slow, waited 20 minutes for our prosecco, and when it did come the waitress apologised for the glasses she gave us, she said the flute glasses had been broken earlier, we had great Gatsby glasses, but I liked them, waited 40 minutes for our main meal, but it was delicious, then at the end of the meal was asked if we wanted coffee, we said yes, 20 minutes later no sign of the coffee, there was only three tables occupied, so was not busy, so asked for the bill, apologies were given and we were offered a free coffee but we declined.
