Visited this place in Cardiff years ago on a mates stag do, and when I went back with my wife a few weeks ago, I had to take her. She's American and loved the "Britishness" of this place and loved her vegetarian pie. Strongly recommend going here!

N.If you're looking for something a bit different then this place is great. You might think eating out in a pie place sounds a bit "heavy" but the pies are actually quite small. All of the food is quite small. Prices for food are reasonable though and the quality is really nice although drinks prices are about average for a restaurant . Service is excellent. We had a friend with us that turned up late and was a little flustered and I felt they came across as a little rude to the staff but they still went out of their way for her and were great (I did call her out on it btw). They have a decent range, from fancy stuff I wouldn't personally go for, to your normal steak and kidney etc. There's veggie and gluten free stuff too. They were out of rosemary fries on the day I went which was devastating but forgivable I guess. The atmosphere was nice, there was a large rowdy group but they were put out of the way downstairs. Toilets were great. All separate standalone gender non specific toilets instead of male and female communal bodily function spaces. Love this place.
S. P.Best pie I've ever had! Pies are smaller than you'd expect, but paired with a hefty portion of fries, gravy and mushy peas it really hits the spot. Comfort food done well without breaking the bank.
V. P.Pleasant experience at Pirminister in Cardiff! We went on a Sunday evening and we found out there was a special "Sunday roast" menu and we just few pounds extra we managed eat a nice meal still including the classic pie but with the Sunday roast twist! Very happy about it and we left absolutely full!

I myself had the 'mothership' which consisted of a bed of mash, moo dog pie (braised beef, onion in brewdog 5am red ale) on top of the mash, minted peas on top of the pie, crispy onions on top of the peas and gravy to top it off!!! N. A.Lovely experience. I thought the food was excellent. I had the Heidi (Goats cheese) and cheesy mash, it was really tasty. Everyone in the party of 6 liked their meals too. Only downside was when we asked for the bill the guy seemed to be messing about and chuckling with other members of staff behind the bar before fetching it too us. We weren't in a rush so no huge deal - just seemed unprofessional.

L.Came here as looking for somewhere to eat with gluten free options.. really pleased with the separate menu for gf as you feel like it will be taken seriously. Pies were delicious, both off the regular menu and gf. Also gf beer option which can be hard to find in restaurants. Service was relaxed but quick and prices reasonable. Will definitely be back to try the other pies!

R.Ordered via a delivery app. Food was tasty, my partner had a pie and I had the chipotle patties. Only complaint was that was two patties for £5 on the take out app but restaurant only sent one, so ended up as hungry as I started. £5 for a singular patty smaller than the palm of my hand is a bit of a rip off, especially when it’s 3 for £5 in store.
B.Great food and a great atmosphere. Went after a rugby match and didn't have to wait to long for food and service was brilliant.

S.The nice young lady with the green hair was really lovely, kind and patient with us despite being very busy. The sticky toffee pudding and the ice cream was amazing - best I've ever had. The ice cream was like a vanilla custard texture and oh so delicious! Thanks for your excellent service lovely green lady!

I had a house later which had an unusual taste but I enjoyed it. Great decor and seemed very popular with a younger crowd. Prices are reasonable and service was quick.

Otherwise loved it! Good value for money and deliver too though often wish delivered a little later! Very nice place to visit for a casual meal and well placed in the city centre. Can guarantee multiple visits after trying it!
p. t.Pieminister is great. They do a few things and do them well. You're out of luck if you want a range of desserts but if you want stonking quality pies this is the place for you.
Best option seems to be a pie and two side dishes for 9 quid. My preference is the blue moo but there's something for everyone here. Service is a little slow but the pies are worth it.
J. C.Great place for some great food. Never fails to impress. The press are fabulous. Of you enjoy a good or then this is the place to go. My 17 yr of is a first Easter and she loved the Heidi (goats cheese and veg pie). A regular family restaurant for us.

Staff were friendly and helpful. I had the Heidi pie with cheesy mash and minty mushy peas followed by cherry pie sundae. Good portions and delicious. This place is easy going but provides good food and good service.

It's in a very central location in Cardiff so easy to find. Would highly recommend.

The mushroom pie was pretty good. Great pastry, filling a little tasteless though. Peas were nice though too salty for me.
My main concern is that it was all a bit expensive (£7.50 for pie and peas) considering I got it as a takeaway. Would have been a reasonable price for a sit-down meal, I suppose, though a little mediocre.

We were a fairly large group, but before our desserts had even arrived we were being told that we would need to be quick as they needed the tables. Perhaps we should have been told there was a time limit at the time of booking?

E. F.I stumbled across this by accident but what a find. I went for the chicken of aragon with mashed potato and garden peas. It even came with a small gravy boat. Not huge amount of food but it was enough for me. £8.95 which I thought was good value and the food was delicious and was served hot!

J. H.Being gluten free I find it hard to find good food that isn't overly prices, so I was delighted to hear about pieministers gluten free takeaway menu. I had the steak and ale pie and it was amazing my only complaints are that the bottom of the pie was stuck to the paper in the takeaway box so i was unable to eat tue bottom of the pastry and the pie itself could of been bigger but over all a good experience, would definitely recommend to anyone that's gluten free.

I went for lunch with my wife and the food was absolutely wonderful.
The staff were perfect. Very friendly, helpful and professional. They were attentive but in no way intrusive or overbearing.
I can easily see this becoming a regular haunt!

No where does the menu or any signage state that all types of gravy are made with alcohol. One of our party doesn't like food with alcohol in it and was told there was no alternative, so had no gravy. If a recovering alcoholic had eaten the gravy without knowing there was alcohol in it, the consequences could have been dire, for the customer and the restaurant. The assumption seems to be that all the customers will be people who can and will eat anything. Suggestion: Print all ingredients clearly on the menu please!

Despite being located at a busy street in Cardiff and the place being busy on a Halloween night it was not noisy in the restaurant. We enjoyed a comfortable and stomach-filling diner. The pies were super yum and the service friendly and chill. *both thumbs up*
O. W.Pies were lovely although service left us feeling a bit rushed. We were billed as soon as we finished our plates and hadn't even finished our drinks. I would understand if it was busy however there were 5 + tables free. Felt like they wanted us out which isn't great considering it was Valentine's and we had pre booked.

So much so that I even recommended it to my mother who was over from the US to visit me for a couple of weeks. Absolutely fantastic! I had the goats cheese and sweet potato pie and Mum had the chicken and tarragon. We both halfed our pies and shared, she was very happy and throughly enjoyed her meal! Food did take abit of time to get to the table but there were a fair few people ahead of us so it was no bother at all. Molly our host was very attentive and made us feel right at home. Great selection of beers and decor is cool too. Music was also very good. Can't find a bad thing to say rearly. I'm a meat eater but the vegetarian options are honestly my favourite! Thanks Pieminster for a lovely dinner! PIE ME!!

F. B.Awesome meat pies. We are tourist from the states and just arrived into Cardiff. We were looking for some British food and meat pies is something I have recently fell in love with here. The meat pie had beef and bacon and a gravy boat. Our sides were tried were cheesy mashed potatoes, cheesy macaroni, salt and pepper onion rings. The onion rings were the best. Prices were alot lower than what we we're used to in London.

Would recommend the sweet potato fries, halloumi sticks were amazing and the pieminister slaw was so flavoursome.
Wouldn't recommend the skin on chips (more fries than chips), pies or pigs in blankets. Pig in blankets tasted like they were those 50 packet sausages for a pound.
But that's being pretty harsh.
