From first impressions the place from the outside looks great, family friendly and inviting, the decoration is cosy, clean and relaxing. The food I would say was average to good which was a bit of a surprise but still a very nice Sunday lunch.

Came here on a Sunday so didn’t get to try the notorious steak that people had been raving about but that being said they give above standard portions. I had the roast beef which was soft juicy and tender I will also give a special mention to their pickled cabbage (was absolutely amazing 😉) my only negatives is that the Yorkshire was a little bit doughy and cauliflower cheese a little bit too hard for my liking. So to wrap this up this place is exactly what it’s name is a great atmosphere and up to Society’s standard. 4.5 🌟

I guess this is trying to be a hipsters bar/restaurant with school chairs and retro finishing. The bar offers mad dog brewery offerings but not any draught lagers. It's a take a number and order at the bar kinda place. The food served on bread boards and I half expected the drinks to be served in jam jars but I think they drew the line at that! Food however was good. Mac and cheese was tasty, others had mussels and chicken which went down well. Nice desserts and all in all great value for money. You wouldn't hang about on the hard school chairs mind but if you want cosy go to harvesters.. If your under 30 and have a beard then this is for you...

Great Bar and the food is superb. Brilliant atmosphere, and a really nice choice of ales, beers and soft drinks. The menu is quite short although I have been here probably over 30 times now and it is my go to local bar/restaurant if you want an ideal setting for social gatherings or dates.

Reviewed 20152016. Edited 2022. My fiancee and I went for lunch. I had a Cubanos made with Italian bread and wafer-thin ham 🤪 The cuban style sandwich was fine but not worth £8.50. My fiancee had a vegan salad priced at £9.90. She too considered the food too be fine but not worth the price. The atmosphere was ruined by toddlers running around. We decided that we wouldn't bother going back.

Lovely place. A group of 10 of us came here for a Sunday Roast at about 3pm - the place was quite busy but had a great atmosphere, the place was really well designed and the industrial decor was very cool. Portions were large, and came with everything you'd want in a roast dinner - would happily come back.

Nice food although I thought the normal mac and cheese didn’t really taste of cheese, too plain. My main was lovely, burger and chips very tasty. Extremely dark in there and bit loud. We’re a party of six and they didn’t have a table available so they offered two of us going on one table by themselves, and the rest of us on a table for four alongside them but with an aisle so people walking up and down constantly in between us. They don’t let you book on Saturdays for some reason (takes too much money away apparently from people not turning up) and they failed to let us know when another table was available. Would give a lower rating because of this however the food was quite nice.

I really like the chill atmosphere here! It feels warm and relaxed. I had the broccoli and chimichurri mac and cheese, which was legitimately excellent. I kind of can't stop thinking about how good it was. Service wasn't what I'd call lightning fast, but that's totally understandable to get that home-cooked comfort food vibe. I don't mind them taking their time over it. Overall, highly recommend.

Just had a great lunch with all the family. Staff were very busy but nothing was too much trouble. Food arrived without having a long wait, even though the kitchen staff were very busy and under great pressure. Everything was piping hot, lots of it, well presented, and cooked very well. To notch grub. I come here after work or with my kids as they offer a good range of vegan options. The seitan burger is a particular favourite. It's meaty and flavourful and most importantly entirely cruelty free. There's a fair few gluten free and dairy free options as well. Good selection of beer and spirits. Staff are friendly and welcoming and the whole place has a relaxed vibe which is what I look for when choosing a place to eat or have drinks after work. It's the wife's favourite too. I would recommend Society Standard to anyone.

We commented on the Coke being flat, but it was having to wait over 20 minutes for our sundaes that was far more annoying. Understandable if it had been busy, but it was almost empty. A lot of work appeared to have gone into the sundaes, and they were well above average. Pricey, I thought, and yet the burgers we looked at on the menu looked fine for price, and when carried past our table, they looked good too.

The Society Standard is one of my new favourite bars. The staff are terrifyingly good, adept at catering to wildly different tastes with skill and intuition. The drinks menu is varied and eclectic, and the food is sublime. My one reservation is the cost: £7 for a wine is London standard, not Cardiff society, so I question the branding. But with the added benefit of a gorgeously painted smoking area and excellent raw brick ambiance, I can't Dock a point for price. You get what you pay for... Thank God.

The food was enjoyable and good quality, but you would expect that as reflected in the price. However, when you pay above average prices I don't expect to have to wait ages for staff to clear the empty plates from our table. Attentiveness is one of the key skills of good waitering so maybe this place has become too trendy for it's own good and forgotten the basics of attending to the needs of the customers who's money keeps the place going!

Stopped by for lunch and both of us had a really lovely meal. Both ox cheek sandwich and the smokey bean chilli were amazing. Mothers only complaint was the sandwich was served on a chopping board, which she found a tad small. Loved the artwork on the walls. Another reviewer commented on it being cold, but I'm someone that always is, and really feels it and I didn't feel cold in there at all, very comfortable temperature. If I'm ever in Cardiff again, I'll definitely be going back!

I did order a child's portion for my nan and it came on a tiny plate, would have preferred a bigger plate and there were no comfortable seats for my prego gf.
