J. D.Lovely quirky themed restaurant. Went there for lunch the staff are friendly, service was quick although it was quiet at the time. The food was really tasty with generous portions. Returning for Father’s Day!

The food was great. The Mrs loved her ribeye. Ive had more tender T-Bone elsewhere but it was of high quality. I think I'd try another steak next time.
The sides where really good and I'd say the Mac and cheese could be a bit thicker in terms of cheese and sauce.
The desserts were amazing I had the brownie. Thanks for letting us switch up the ice-cream as opposed to the menu offering.
The decor was great and the staff were very knowledgeable including the lady who had only been in the job 2 weeks. Good for you two. It's nice to get a bit of back story and history on a restaurant.
All in all a great night and good food. We will be back. It was a unique experience being so few people dining in the restaurant but we were able to explorer the whole place and interact better with the staff. Felt very VIP. THANK YOU. 👌

J. T.Expensive. Nice scenery and booths but steaks were not amazing or worth the price. Had a tbone steak. It was okay not sure if it was seasoned enough. Steaks don't come with any real sides. It's annoying that charges are automatically added to bill and we're expected to awkwardly ask if we want it removed.
It's probably worth ago once if you're looking to splash out.
H. W.Been here with my girlfriend for our anniversary. It is a cozy place with a very nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was delicious and very well cooked!
Two things I would like to see improved is the following: the menu could be enriched with more dishes and it would be nicer for the staff to not assume whether the person who is with you is a friend or your partner.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

The two ladies working last night were exceptional, although they were clearly short staffed. There should have been at least someone else on shift.
The steaks were very tender, although my partner had a T bone and the fillet was very small. Steaks do not come with any sides, other than half a grilled tomato. Customers are expected to pay separately for a side of chips. They offer fries and chips. I ordered chips and was disappointed they came with the skin.
Other steak houses which have an excellent reputation may charge you a little more for the steak but their meals are served completely, with chips and salad. Furthermore, the sharing board with cured meats was not worth £16.

A. M.I'm a huge Doctor who can so imagine the excitement when the waitress said we could seat in the gigantic dalek. Have nothing bad to say about this place. Had an amazing meal, I had a steak with chips and an amazing peppercorn sauce. The chicken wings were delicious, not too spicy and my boyfriend's satay chicken was really good too. It all ended with some ice cream. I recommend the salted caramel! The staff was also very nice and they didn't make us wait long at all. Definitely coming back.

l. p.It was really quiet when we went in. There is a one way sydtem in place due to covid but that helps in getting you to see all the themed booths. They've taken a few tables out to meet with social distancing rules, but thats taken somevof the atmosphere away unfortunately. Staff are really nice and helpful. Food tasted great but gutted tbat you had to ordet anything with your steak as a side order which bumps up the cost a bit. £3 or £4, for each item. Drinks are resonably priced for Cardiff.

The staff were lovely and friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Service was quick and we never felt like we were waiting for anything. The food though was something else - completely.
We ordered 2 starters to come out with the main, and were amazed at the quality of the food. Everything was cooked to perfection. This ranks up there with some of the best steakhouses we have visited - to the point where we discussed coming to South Wales from Oxford just for the food from steak of the art again!
The decor is amazing as well - totally quirky, and it gives something to talk about besides how good the food is!

N. D.This is a relaxed open, airy, high-ceilings steak house with interesting decor. I had a sirloin at mid rare which was cooked perfectly; the bernaise sauce seemed to be homemade by the taste of it. There is an art gallery upstairs which hosts local artwork from local artists. The price is reasonable, I’ve had worst steaks in Cardiff at a more expensive price. There is also a nice little bar which serves cocktails and unusual beers on tap. I will be coming back here 😀
D. S.I came to the restaurant on a Saturday, it was quite busy, however, the service was outstanding. The ribeye was beautifully cooked, perfect medium rare, and the sweet potato fries was really good. My mate had the bbq short ribs and they looked amazing, next time I’m back, I’m definitely having that.

Waited half hour just to be served our soft drink, after I had to ask. So disappointed as we loved it the first time. Still though, not a bad place! Just got to catch them on the right day / night.

We both had ribeye which was very bland the chips wasn't like they used to be proper chunky chips used to be delicious not sure what has happened. Spent about £100 gutted we won't be going back

m.Food was excellent and absolutely exceptional service, if I could give this 10 stars out of 5 I would. I would definitely recommend this, the best meal of our trip by far we so appreciate the care given by the waiting staff.
C. W.First time going here, so didn't quite know what to expect. Quirky decoration, which gives you plenty to look at. I particularly liked the table set inside a dalek. As it was just the two of us, we were (understandably) shown to a standard table as the tables in the "art" are bigger tables that sit a minimum of 4. The table was pleasant, although there was only one napkin and my place settng was directly on the table which isn't ideal in the current climate. It's possible that the one napkin had been taken by another table as opposed to being missed when the table was being set, but this should have been noticed when searing any guests and the seeing should have been refreshed as a matter of course as the cutlery had been in contact with the table surface regardless.
There was a decent wine list on the menu. They only had one of the two Malbecs available, but most places only carry one Malbec anyway, so this was hardly an issue.
The portion of sweet potato fries was bigger than the portion of normal fries which was surprising. Sweet potato usually costs more and you get a smaller portion, here it costs more, but you actually get a decent portion size for the money.
Now onto the steak, the main reason people go to a steak house. The flavour of the actually meat was superb, but the cuts themselves contained quite a lot of fat, even in the fillet. The butter was nice, but had obviously come straight out of the fridge and was so cold it was cooling the meat, rather than melting over it. As a comparison to Miller and Carter (probably the closest steak house to here), the cuts of meat here are more fatty and chewy, but considerably more flavoursome.
Overall, I quite enjoyed it, so would probably return.

The steak is delicious, I ordered a fillet steak and it was perfect, no fat at all! Halloumi fries and onion rings also very nice, however the sides are quite small, so not really suitable for sharing and you may need to order more than 1! I had the Creme Brulee cheesecake for dessert which was really nice!
We sat inside the Dalek (I requested this table when booking), very cosy and private and makes for a unique dining experience!

The food was good, possibly a bit overdone for a medium rare, but a good attempt - the lack of side options wasn't ideal, but again there were enough to be reasonable. What sides we had we're well done and the drinks choices were reasonable.
All in, for the price, probably one of the best, but not in the top tier of food by any means.

R. H.Came here as group of 10 blokes a couple of weeks ago. Had a semi-private dining room. Felt very well looked after by staff. We pre-ordered and my order was mixed up - I received a well-done rump steak. Didn't like it at all (well-done is not my thing), but staff happy to replace with a delicious rare steak. Feedback to the place is that I'd rather have fries than fat-cut chips, but that's just a personal preference!

We were ignored for almost half an hour to get our food while other people who arrived after us already started to eat. Afterwards we waited for another half an hour when someone finally came to clean our table. We don't wanted to wait any longer so that we went to the counter to pay our bill. In general, the service really ruined our good mood of enjoying the artistic vibe and good food.
T.This place is still fantastic, still my favourite restaurant in Cardiff. Both the food and the customer service are excellent, all credit to Liam and the team
F. Y.The venue is amazing, incredibly imaginative & art orientated. It's worth a visit purely for this reason! I must admit though, this was not the best steak I have ever eaten, it was acceptable, the sauce was tasty, the homemade fries take a bit of getting used to, super chunky! Our cheesecake desert was disappointing, very small & didn't taste that good! I would go again as I love the venue but I would try something different & probably not go for a desert again as I felt it was a rip off!

Decor is nice. If money is not an issue then definitely a good option, especially if you are staying in the Premier Inn directly above it.

The food is okay. Didn't set the world on fire and considering steak is in the name, it could have been better. That's not to say it's a bad steak, it's just not as good as some of its local competitors.

T. L.First time visiting tonight and we were blown away by the food. It was outstanding. The meals weren't very big but enough for you to enjoy. They add a 10% tip automatically to the bill, but the service was excellent
C. F.This was amazing, the ambience and design of the place is beautifully whimsical and the steak is fantastic. I recommend getting the additional smoked feather steak, it melts in the mouth and has such a strong slow-cooked smokey flavour. And how many steak places have two fancy stouts? Not many I'll tell you. My wife said the smoked tomatoes were a flavour sensation and made her meal.
I will say we are ready for a nap now thought.

My only complaint would be that the wooden board my steak was on leaked blood/steak juices all over the table... A bit of a shame to a really good meal.

This place is amazing the decor well couldn't stop staring.Have never been to a place like this.Food was excellent and the puddings were great too.Service was great nice polite and happy to talk bout the place.Think even the owner or manager was happy to talk to us.Only thing didnt like was if didnt want to pay the service charge we had to speak to them,thought would of been nicer for them to firstly mention there is a service charge and when paying is it ok for us to pay it.
We were going to leave a tip but made us feel uncomfortable as felt had to pay it.

C. A. P.Order the Chateaubriand for two. It's enough food and it's amazing. These days you should be able to have your steak cooked how you want it but a lot of places just can't get it right. We ordered medium rare and by god it was medium rare. Best steak we've had in ages! Lovely place great service and great art. Especially the little duck drawing. Go here you won't be disappointed.
O.We went here on a Wednesday night in January. The service was very good with the lovely Ellen, the food was delicious and cooked well (Tbone and Ribeye with several sides), with a cocktail and a dessert (loved the creme brulee cheesecake). When we arrived we were told (to our surprise) it was 25% discount in Jan! Overall, really impressed and would definitely return.

If you want the darlek booth (sits up to 6 people) you will need to book at least a month in advance as its their most popular feature! However any seat in the house has its own theme well worth a visit! And I must mention the staff and how helpful they have been on each visit thanks for making are time at steak of the art so enjoyable!!

D. K.Eclectic decorations and seating in a restaurant offering standard pub fare mainly on a meat-based menu. Not large portions but reasonable prices and tasted ok. Service fair too. Won't bother going back though - nothing special overall. And contrary to one other reviewer's statement, they do add a service charge to your bill.

G. T.A fantastic steakhouse with a funky interior showcasing local art and offering the option for a unique dining experience (including dinner inside a Dalek or a Hot Air Balloon cubicle). It is on the pricey side, but to be expected given its prime location. Menu isn't enormous either. Food was tasty, service was great, decor and atmosphere were up to scratch. We will undoubtedly visit again. Worth booking if you're heading to a show at the Motorpoint Arena just across the road!

I had a Sunday roast with a sirloin steak, this was accompanied by roast potatoes, honey glazed carrots, parsnips, gravy and a huge yorkshire pudding. It was immense, the best place I've ate out in for a while. The decor was also funky, atmosphere was really nice and staff was friendly.
J. H.The service was okay, nothing particularly special, but nevertheless polite. I ate the 8oz rump, while my partner had the 4oz, which was notably different. Unfortunately her steak came in two pieces and (imo) had a touch of the Weatherspoons about it, bland, dry and chewy. Mine was better, although still a little ordinary and almost grainy. I'm tempted to blame the meat rather than the chef, but a poor show for a £24 dish.
The atmosphere is good and the venue pleasant, however with just an okay overall impression, this place deserves three out of five.

J.steak wasn’t bad (i ordered a sirloin) but the chips that came with it were horrible - i couldn’t even eat them! when i complained about them to the manager, she was very rude - but did (reluctantly) give me a replacement side. my mate who ordered the same thing didn’t like them either, but ate them anyway, did make an observation to the manager about their taste, and instead of apologizing, she kept going on about how the server came over to check up and how we should’ve said something then. very bad attitude!
K. O. (.Steak of the art is a great place for those wanting to enjoy good food in a relaxed enviroment. Its not as classy as miller ans carters but it is more fun thanks to the many themes inside the restaurant. Also while your waiting for you meal there is an on site gallery to enjoy.
J. B.Eaten here a fair few times now and is fair to say that Steak of the Art is one of my favourite places to go for a meal.
The food is always of a very high standard, well cooked, presented and seasoned. Being a fan of a steak that is still mooing and that a good vet could bring back to life, the chef's here have always done a brilliant job of cooking up a rare steak.
The staff are extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming, from first arrival you will be greeted and made to feel right at home. The service overall is brilliant and really makes you enjoy your meal and look forward to returning!
A wide variety of drinks are on offer, being a lager / whisky man I can only say I have sampled somewhat of the selection, but nonetheless very impressed with the drinks.
The decor is one of Steak of the Art's biggest USP's as it does not conform to the expectations of a archetypal steakhouse, finding yourself more of a converted art gallery. With Willy Wonka carved out of wood, horses, statues, balloon booths and much more, the whole place is very engaging and interesting to say the least.
On one visit they had a caricature artist in, Picasso Griffiths, which was great entertainment and he sketched caricatures while we waited for our meal at no cost just included in the evening.
Very fairly priced for what it is, I would rate Steak of the Art as very good value for money. It is not a 'cheap' restaurant, but is in no way ridiculously expensive either, for everything mentioned above, in my opinion it is priced just right.
Would definitely recommend to anyone, will be back for more myself!
S. A.Lovely rump steak, beautifully tender, came with a choice of chunky fries or salad, or sweet potato fries for £1.30 supplement. I started with a goat cheese salad, which was delicious, but heavy on the rocket, with very little cheese, beetroot and walnuts. The salad at £5 was not good value. Rated 4, not 5, as it does not cost a lot to put a small garnish on the platter with the steak meal.

Starters: squid (tasty but small) and wings (very hot)
Mains: kids burger is decent. T-bone, Fillet and Rib Eye. All very good. Sides are small, especially chips.
Desserts: sticky toffee is brilliant. Espresso panacota too sweet (coffee syrup too sweet). Creme Brule cheesecake is just cheesecake.
Come for the steaks and you won't be disappointed

As I thought it was kids to experience the fun of the themed reastarnt ,Lovely young man came up to us and ask for our drink order
And when he saw the kids in the DALEK TABLE,,
SAID THAT THE TABLE WAS FREE.
And if the kids what they could have there food in there.
BRILLIANT we thought,
But or no the manager came over
And was not happy with the kids on this DALEK TABLE.
So he told the kids to get out.
So I explained that the waiter said that the DALEK TABLE was FREE Tonight as the people who booked the DALEK TABLE had not turn up
1 hours later so he didn't think they were going to be coming.
So the manager had a RIGHT GO
at the young waiter who was Brain's of the place.
And made the hole experience of the place for us great really enjoyed the food.
And the Mad manager came over to tell us that he had text the people who booked the DALEK TABLE to see if they were going to turn up.
It was a Sunday night and he told us that we couldn't have a table later than 7 30 as it was Sunday and they close early on Sunday's
