This Toby restaurant is newly renovated and looks really fresh and inviting. The carvery was delicious. The Chef came to serve us as soon as we arrived at the counter and was very friendly. The food was cooked to perfection all the serving bowls were full so a good variety of food available. Loved the beef dripping roast potatoes they were amazing. The Waiting staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall a very pleasant and enjoyable experience. Well worth a visit.

The staff were very helpfull and polite, service was good and prompt. Only had a couple of drinks in the bar area, but food smelt & looked very good. Chloe was lovely on the bar. This isn't Ruth Royal, I have her old phone, my name is Howard Williams. Well done, it should be a given, but to find decent service in this country is like Chickens Teeth!! It made such a refreshing change. Very Well done.

Just got back from there this just wanted a quick bite with my partner. Was pretty quiet there, quieter than expected but was very satisfied with food and staff. Manager went out of his way to provide extra meat for the carvery as it was a slow evening. Even threw in some free sausage, that’s a win in my book and top notch service. If ya reading this mate, thank you for that made my evening 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Super busy, but the queue moved fine. All the staff were working very hard, nobody was idle. The first server who took our order forgot our drinks, but we asked another server who brought them super quick. The first server had also charged us for 3 carveries instead of 2, but the second server apologised and fixed that too. The food was great, plentiful, hot and tasty. However, the vegan meatballs we ordered were really quite awful. They were mushy, the sauce was sour, and they look very unappealing, we tried one but could not eat them. The second server took one of the orders off our bill for us without us having to ask. Really impressed overall with the service and food

Went here today with my boyfriend and it was last minute arrangement for early dinner. Its the queen's jubilee and the place and staff really we re in the spirit. No issues parking or getting a table. Staff really chatty and helpful. The Chef was very welcoming and the carvery looked fresh and well kept and replenished. We were not rushed and our visit exceeded expectations 100 percent. Been a while since I d been here and as always an awesome experience.well worth the money and an A++ rating 😀 we ll be back! THANK YOU 😊

It is SO disappointing when you have such a lovely , well cooked meal one week...and then
on returning the following week you have a different experience! The first week we had some lovely, tender cooked beef, the following week you could have tacked your boots with it ! Impossible to chew with big lumps of gristle.
Waited too long for the beef dripping potatoes so sat down without any, no one to take the heavy lids off of some veg so the guy next to me tried but they were too hot and heavy.
The staff were doing their very best. It's not their fault that there is not enough staff on when Toby has a half price promotion on !
The general consensus when stood waiting is that there needs to be 2 meat carvers there like there was a few years back. Too much carving for one guy causing a big back leg of hungry customers ! We love the refurbishment...and the staff are very courteous.

Service was great, from booking a table online right through to leaving again!!! Our waitress was very friendly and helpful - it's always nice to have a little chat with someone when you can! The food was fantastic as always. Very clean, super atmosphere and the decor made us feel comfortable too. Highly recommended 👌🏼.

It's a pub with a restaurant thrown in. Food was ok but nothing to write home about. They are very diligent with food allergies and we had to fill out and sign a form to say we had read the allergy book and been made aware of what we could and couldn't eat. Even after all that, my son, who has a dairy allergy couldn't have the vegan dessert he wanted as they didn't have it. Counter service could have been a bit friendlier as the chef's who were serving seemed like they didn't want to be there. The waiting staff, on the other hand, were great.

We were greeted by a lady at the door she took us to a table far end in the restaurant. She said someone will be with . 2 other family came after us and we were still waiting,
A young lady came after 10-15 min started taking other tables order .
She took order of other table who came after us and we were the last one who was served . Restaurant wasn’t busy at all.
Our server Loretta apologised and said that she just started her shift .
So my question is that First Lady who sat down us knew no member of staff were working in that section and after someone started she didn’t bother to come and brief her . Very unprofessional.
However Loretta was amazing and with her beautiful manner kept everyone happy . Well done to her . I’m sure she would’ve done a very much better job as a person in charge.
In regards to the food , not very happy with beef , very very thin and small slices full of fat . To be honest you didn’t need a knife to cut it , fork would’ve been enough .
Variety of Vegetable and freshly cooked.
Other issue was carvery queue was too cramped and people were too close to each other .

Had lovely carvery first class ingredients including cauliflower cheese which is my favourite really tasty gravy. Staff were welcoming and friendly especially our server Della who served us very well. Will definitely return
R. P.
It was a great place for a large family gathering, and relaxed (not formal). Food, well a very big plateful if you wanted it, but veg a bit overcooked and my lamb was a bit stringy.
Not sure it is value for money, if you pay a little more elsewhere you get much nicer food!
C. c.
The staff here have been lovely and very helpful. Needed some where to do some uni work and have breakfast. Definitely recommend.
Informed me when breakfast was closing which was nice.
Only downside was cereal was not part of the breakfast offer which is slightly disappointing as the breakfast offer is all you can eat.
K. W.
Visited today for my daughters birthday. Service was quick, although the lady looking after us seemed really fed up and a bit sad. We asked for 3 pepsi max but realised after I'd paid i was actually charged for 3 refills which was over £3 each! Such a waste as the first drinks weren't finished.
Food was hot and delicious. Would return but won't get stung with drinks again!

Great place for a lovely cooked traditional lunch. Very pleasant staff. Della is always very efficient, friendly and deserves to by top employ of the month and year. John and Jackie Perkins ❤
P. F.
Highly recommend food was lovely and the young manager Thomas was very friendly, polite and made us feel very welcomed. Will definitely be returning the first place in a long time we've felt comfortable at🙂

The food was outstanding and the puddings were exquisite, and our waitress catlin was really nice. And the Yorkshire puddings where humungous. I will definitely be coming back. Review written by Elijah and Gabriel Harris.

Food was delicious 😋 their vegetarian sausages were really nice too. Very polite and professional and was offered to have it brought to the table. They was so kind 🙂
J. M.
Got a magic bag from them via TooGoodToGo app. I got the vegetarian bag from them and everything was really nice. It’s just a bit of a shame it didn’t include any vegetarian meat replacement and instead it was just veggies. Still strong 4/5

I have eaten here on two occasions now this occasion just happened to be Father’s Day extremely busy. Managed to get a booking at short notice did have a bit of a queue at the service stations however food was amazing, really hot, also serving lamb
M. C.
Well what an I say we were dri king here contemplating eating here and a massive fight broke out litrally people swinging at everyone we ran to another place to drink and eat as we were dying at the hotel behind a travelodge we were s ared to go back eventually we did omg it was the most frightening time of my life met some of the I hired party fifa t sleep all night as the guests in the fight were few doors down from our room
M. B.
Despite being left at the reception unattended for 5 minutes, we had a great tasting lunch. Our server Lewis was brilliant and nothing was too much trouble for him.
B. E.
Come for Sunday lunch regularly. Staff, especially DELLA, helpful and friendly. Good selection of freshly cooked meats and seasonal vegetables.
N. W.
Charlie our waitress was lovely and helpful
Food was amazing can't fault anything very good service thanks again
J. O.
The carvery was decent and the staff was really welcoming and friendly. Very tight on the meat compared to other carvery's I've had in the area though.
R. B.
It was ok but the service was slow despite it not being particularly busy. Food was tasty but quite dry and several vegetable pots were empty.
M. M.
Great carvery, staff are awesome and very clean...we drive nearly 20 miles to eat there....an absolute joy
J. D.
Good food always, some burnt pigs in blankets though :( Lewis the server was lovely and rushed off his feet working so well and harder than any other staff and he’s only been here 3 weeks, a credit to the company
C.
Was served by a lovely can’t remember her name but really friendly and informative. You can’t go wrong for the food after catching covid over Christmas I was finally able to have a lovely roast. Good quality meat and there new beef dripping roast potatoes really taste lovely. Will be looking forward to coming back.
D. B.
Great food if you enjoy Carvery style meals. 4 meats to choose from and a good selection of vegetables. Alternative food options available. Lovely staff - friendly and helpful. Limited choice of beer (bring back Doombar).
P. C.
Main meal from the carvery was very nice, but the apple pie pastry was not sweet. I doubt there was any sugar in it at all. Apple pie pastry should be sweet to compliment the apple, but on this occasion it was bland and unappetising. Hence only 3* given.
A. S.
First time but won't be the last. Had more choice than the usual Carvery loved the potato selections roast mash mash with mustard sweet potato and potato grating nice Yorkshire pudding. I liked the fact it was hot and the meat was a generous portion. Good service i think Carrie served us. Spoke to the Manager Abby bout booking our boys Christening party. Sorry cant review the desert i was too full after my main.
D. H.
Fabulous bright, quiet and spacious room. Warm welcome from the staff and the Toby carvery next door has a tasty pint (or two) of Brains bitter after a long drive which helped with a great nights sleep.
Delicious breakfast to set me up for the day ahead before moving on.
Very happy to recommend.
C. T.
Food was really nice, and the staff was very helpful also lovley and clean inside
A.
Enjoyed a lovely meal and the waitress charley was amazing and tended to all our needs!
S. T.
Della is very good as she served us. Able to help us about the menu as we were new to your place. Chef was good, salmon was well cooked. Since we were sitting near bar, it was bit noisy especially the one with funny laughter, very disturbing. We informed one of crew, it was stopped.
Thank you. Merry Christmas.
l. c.
Just had a Sunday lunch where sometimes Toby can be unbearably busy. Loretta was our server, and she has been before. She makes the experience beyond amazing! I've never seen someone with such a spring in their step working on a Sunday. One of the best staff I've encountered working in here and so engaging with children. Food amazing and so was service from Loretta 😄😄
A. L.
Been here a couple times and today was by far the best visit ! The chef behind the counter with a beard and tattoos was really nice to everyone in front of us an us! Very chatty! Great service chefs seemed to be enjoying themselves! Food was great , there was no gravy left but we were quickly bought more ! Desserts were really good too! Very happy!
L. E.
Great selection with the carvery and are very fair with the meat.
Della was amazing, very helpful, polite and attentive. Would totally recommend based on my experience :)
S.
Lovely service , nice atmosphere with a variety of tables. Servers were attentive and attentive. The good was lush and an overall great experience
D. L.
Had a lovely lunch today, we had Loretta as our server who was so lovely, great with our little girl and very attentive. Thank you for a lovely experience, we drive from Newport to come to this Toby Carvery as it’s always great food and great service.
C. G.
Been here a few times now, food always hot with a good selection. Staff are very friendly, Alex is always very helpful, polite and always seem to be happy.
L. H.
Lovely place. Food was leaving a bit to be desired. Measily portions, the Yorkshires were rock hard, veg over done and no gravy.
D. B.
What a great place to visit and next door to Travelodge in Whitchurch, Cardiff. Exceptional quality food and drink, very clean and relaxed surroundings with comfortable Tables and Chairs and really nice Carpets. Tom the Manager is really ascessible, friendly and helpful. All the Staff were lovely and professional and very friendly. Special mention must be made to Katie, Molly, Charlie, Blonde Chloe and Brunette Chloe. Toby Carvery in Whitchurch made our stay so memorable... We will be visiting again and again very soon. Loved it !!.
T. R.
Lovely family meal out impressive young manager (thomas head) was so lovely friendly and accomadating hope to see him when we visit again soon to say hello, Couldn't be nicer, Thankyou.
C. R.
Lovely food great waitress but had to deduct a star as the ice cream machine was out of order.
g. w.
Staff were amazing, especially the manager she was helpful and very chatty.... food was also excellent.
J. D.
Fantastic carvery. Hot,fresh and great taste too. Lovely staff and great atmosphere!
J. S.
Arrived just as the food was being set out. No queue so I filled my plate. Unfortunately there wasn't any scrambled eggs but what I had was lovely. More if you wanted and plenty of tea and coffee. You can't go wrong for £7.50.
Especially if you enjoy a large breakfast. 👍
D. J.
Food is alway good there , went there today 9th March , green beans under cooked and the meat was cut so thin you could see through it, if you want to keep customers happy don’t cut the meat wafer thin
L.
Little bit slow service as getting my plate, food was good otherwise and it was quiet.
K. D.
Loretta was our server on New Year's Day. She went above and beyond especially showing caring attitude towards our autistic child and elderly mother. Her service should be acknowledged. 5☆+
S. C.
Great value self-service breakfast but gets busy resulting in a bit of a wait.
c. j.
My son suffers with anxiety and we were given a quiet corner to eat. All the staff were understanding and helpful. The food was beautiful. We had a lovely time and will be visiting again. Both Natalie and the gentleman at the door were really helpful.
P. O.
Always a good option for a meal out.. It was busy which means there will be a good turnover of vegetables. The meat was very good as always but the vegetables were a strange mix and rather bland.
E. W.
Food was good, drink service was slow. All around good vibes.
s. f.
Excellent service and excellent food i go every Sunday and being served by a lovely lady called Della she is amazing and cannot do enough for you
L. L.

Great service and quality food. Della was very helpful and friendly.
L. A.
Not to crowded, food great as always, friendly staff
A. M.
Greatly enjoyed last evening's carvery experience. Great food, particularly the potato and leek which complemented the meat offerings wonderfully! Excellent service from all the staff, notably Charley, Tia and the manager. Would love to dine there nightly unfortunately we live in Southampton! Until the next time.

Tables spread out
All spotless
Could serve yourself. Nice array of veg.
Meal wasn't piping hot is the only criticism
F. P.
Super Dooper breakfast buffet as my belt can't lie.
D. R.
We had baked camebert it was over cooked, but we weren't charged for it.it is a nice place we will let them off
H.
Very good at what they do. The carvery is inexpensive and good value.
The team in this branch were friendly.
Overall a good experience.
K. R.
Food was nice can't fault that part at all service was ridiculously slow considering the amount of staff just standing around chatting
H. H.
Super helpful and friendly staff and the vegan/vegetarian options were delicious. Super clean and welcoming.
T. W.
I am having chemotherapy and am immunosuppressed and we informed the staff of this. They seated us far away from anybody else and next to the open back door. The waitress asked if my appetite was reduced which it was and let me use a smaller plate for cheaper. We felt very welcome and well-catered for and the food was also lovely.
M. C.
Despite booking in advance for Breakfast, they were not ready for us so service was slow! And the food was only warm, not hot 😕. Despite this the venue was nice, and the staff were polite and friendly 🙂
A. C.
Good place for a family meal. The carvery was very good.
L. R.
Thomas the young man in charge was extremely helpful today mother's Day with our sitting arrangements thank you Thomas you were so helpful. Regards Mr rees
C. R.
Good food friendly staff. Unable to download app as poor / no WiFi available.
J. B.
My first Toby Carvery for about 10yrs. Really enjoyable experience and a good lunch
J. H.
Slow service waited about 20 minutes everytime we needed a drink or to order or to get deserts so we gave up.
D. P. (.
Lovely place to eat especially with the kids over the summer holidays Cardiff only £1 for them
A. P.
The food is always lovely. Maybe more choice of ales at the bar
c. w.
Food was lovely and fresh available constant quick service thank you
C. M.
Fantastic friendly server who really made us feel welcome... and you can't really go wrong with a carvery!!
K. F.
Had a really nice Sunday Lunch here, good selection of meets and vegetarian options
E. O.
Food lovely.. staff were amazing especially with our daughter
M. V.
Had a lovely carvery on Friday night it was one of the best and the service was first class lorretta was so very pleasant and made our evening see you again soon
L. J.
Food was lush, definitely what I needed for my first restaurant after lockdown. Only negative was the waiter was a little inpatient while taking our order which was challenging when you have 3 boisterous and excited boys shouting. Apart from that the food was really nice.
R. J.
Staying here for the weekend. Had fantastic service in the bar from Charlie who goes above and beyond for us. Thank you 🥰🥰
O. H.
Good food. Very busy though. Long queues for food
D. F.
Lovely breakfast. In and sat swiftly.
K. J.
Went their for a party. Food good . But had to pick up lettuce with our fingers. Which is not very hygienic as were coming out of covid. But no cutlery to eat our lettuce with. That was very poor. So that is why ive only given you 3
L. J.
We went on the breakfast deal for £4.99. It was a lovely all you can eat breakfast. Really enjoyed the food and the refillable coffee 👍
H. C.
Enjoyable. Being super fussy limited menu but great if you like carvery
P. M.
lovely breakfast, no complaints at all, very helpful staff 👍
l. g.
The best Toby I've been to. It Was lush.
H. T.
Fab experience here post-covid. Staff are super at handling the new regulations and ensuring that they are enforced there. When getting your carvery now there are 3-4 members of staff behind the counter and will dish up your vegetables for you, rather than you helping yourself, but did not feel like we were restricted in terms of portion size. In terms of allergies, the member of staff that served us was excellent, wouldn't take orders for desserts until the allergen menu had been checked and I felt safe - unusually there were a few options suitable for nut allergy! Would go again for a carvery.
M. R.
Food was great plus the staff especially della lovely lady.
B.
Carvery was lovely today,so tasty.Nice atmosphere and friendly staff
N. S.
Friendly staff, good prices and clean and tidy. The food was good, not brilliant nor poor. More than adequate.
To get another star, larger meat portion and better Yorkshire pudding and perhaps a better choice. All in all, recommend for a low key dinner.
Good car park and excellent location.
D. H.
Busy eatery, meat was good but some vegetables were of the frozen variety 😕
H. J.
Have been to masons arms quite a few times and the food has always been good but on this last occasion the food wasn't up to standard, food was cold, veg was all dried out, some of the veg was not cooked properly, it all tasted very bland, service from a Charley was lovey, she was very attentive, helpful and nothing was too much trouble, lovely friendly girl, I'm hoping the food situation was a one off as i do like a nice carvery,
D. A.
We visited for Father's Day.. My first visit to a Toby since lockdown. The overall experience food wise was little different to a Toby prelockdown. We thoroughly enjoyed our food. The servers portions were as large as I would have given myself!! All in all, a good lunch.
D. S.
Always friendly and hot food can't get enough of this Toby
M. L.
Fantastic service fast and very polite.
Food was excellent but only thing was my son couldn't finish his food and when I asked if we could take it home I was told no. I'm sure other people would like to take theirs home.
g. i.
I liked it here, I had the standard size plate and was stuffed. Best to get free refills on fizzy pop. welcoming friendly staff WELL DONE GUYS
H. L.
Lovely waitress. Excellent service. Great food.
R. M.
Server was lovely (Saskia) and food was lovely as always! Had the added bonus of sprouts!!!
m. w.
Fab carvery, very polite staff, cosy environment
M. O.
Went here on a Tuesday night . Probably be best to book as it gets busy esp on Sundays. Choice of calvery meats , beef . Gammon, pork and turkey . Stunning food definitely worth a visit .
V. M.
Lovely service, quick turnaround with food :)
D. W.
The food was amazing but the waitress service was something too be desired. The waitresses we had was awful and very rude. The bar staff were brilliant.
V. W.
Amazing place, the staff were so friendly and welcoming! Very covid secure too!! Went for a breakfast to cure my hangover and it was amazing, so fresh and so hot! Will definitely be returning, think I’ve found my hangover cure
L. C.
A jolly good roast. Thanks to Della our waiter!
L. E.
Always find it odd that restaurant czn be rather empty yet you still feel you may not get a table when you say you have not booked and it takes some time to find you a table that needs cleaning. All customers seemed to be put in close proximity and our table was not a great on as we were in the aisle (plenty of better tables available throughout our meal). Food was decent, roast potatoes not the best as kept warm too long. Small meat portion. Waitress attentive served quickly. Downloaded app to receive £5 discount.
i. j.
Stayed at at Travelodge needed s few beers and a snack. Staff very friendly good reasonably priced Guinness and a very nice turkey and gammon roll.
R. E.
Tuesday evening. The restaurant was quiet - we deliberately chose this location as the website showed immediate availability.
We were seated straight away and our order taken.
We waited 10 minutes for a member of staff to attend the carvery - in the end I shouted "hello" through the kitchen door. Vegetables had obviously been standing under lights for a while. Four meats on offer looked and tasted okay.
I expected better quality for the money.
R. Q.
Good carvery, best I've had in a while
J. M.
I was really quite surprised at how well organisedit was. For some reason I expected somewhere that did a Carver to be more chaotic and hense perhaps not quite as covid compliant but I was very wrong! The measures they have put in place manage to balance public safety without ruining the overall experience of dining there. I found the staff to be very helpful and with less people being served at one time the serving staff actually had time to smile and say hi and again be very helpful with food choices (one of my kids is allergic to dairy). I wouldve given 5 stars but I must admit it wasn't made clear on booking that you would need the Toby app to recieved the 50% off mains offer and trying to download it at the venue was problematic due to the pretty terrible internet service. But please dont let that detract from what a great experience we had as a family here and how wonderfully helpful the staff were. I would definitely recommend it and I will certainly be going back there....this time with app ready 😄
S. F.
Had a carvery it was really good staff really friendly great service
M. S.
Hannah and Toni went above and beyond to make our meal here one to remember. Not only was the service quick and efficient but they made sure my little boy had enough food and that he was happy 100% of the time whilst we ate. It’s hard as parents to have a nice meal with a toddler so thank you girls. I would definitely return purely based on their customer service.
l. b.
Food was great , the waitress did very well despite being run off her feet.
However the actual restaurant looked very tired , paintwork was grubby and the last time the window frames were painted it looked like a bad fit job as lots of paint on the edge of glass.
The walls and wood inside could do with a freshen up , very surprised as obviously been closed for months .
Cutlery needs steaming to remove water marks .
I would return as food and service was great and both the waitress and chefs were very bubbly
J. W.
Staff were very polite and friendly. But not used to their best for the pub
ie: 6 tables piled with plates and glasses. No one cleared them in 20 minutes I was there. Also got in line for carvery and waited 30 minutes
10 minutes acceptable! Not 30.
Lady carving the meat was on her own. Rushed off her feet. Waited a while for gravy too. On a positive note, food was very good
k. m.
Best food and service out of all the Toby's. Staff always welcoming unlike Cardiff Gate.. Miserable lot.
Thank you for your hard work.
a. G.
Amazing place for brunch and great drinks
S. J.
All good you get plenty .a great place
N. H.
Booked for breakfast, best toby by far for me. Everyone couldn't do enough from the manager to the chef, food was nice as well as the decor, would definitely return if in the area again.
B. C.
I and my family had Sunday lunch Toby carvery Whitchurch Cardiff
We all enjoyed the carvery which was near back to normal
I was sorry I chose the lamb as it was very chewy
It didn't effect a very good visit with friendly staff and I will be going there again but not having lamb

Great food and everything was run efficiently despite being very busy! The waitress, Tia, was lovely throughout our visit, very prompt and made sure we had everything we needed.
K. T.
Was seated quickly although hadn't booked. Staff were pleasant but didn't see them much. Although not busy empty plates were left, and we ended up downloading the app to pay even though we hadn't intended to- we may still be there otherwise. Food was standard carvery- but on the better side. Order off menu of veg roast and chicken great were dry and poor in comparison. Would go again as fair value for money, clean and convenient.
K. S.
We went here for a Carvery food was nice but long wait for our ice cream I would say much if there were busy but they wasn't
T. T.
Amazing service today from Tia working on the bar.
Fast and polite! Smiling as usual, really nice to see in these times.
Would Highly recommend a visit! 5*
P. L.
I have been going this Carvery on a regular basis. Very pleased with the food and service. I would like to compliment Della for her hard work and efficiency.
T. P.
Really good Toby; one of the best! All the staff are really friendly and very Covid aware, food was fresh, restaurant very clean. Adam served us and made us feel exceptionally welcome and couldn't do enough, it makes a big difference we will definitely be back.
J. B.
The soup on the festive menu wasn't very warm, the sprouts and roast parsnips was too hard for my liking. As for the mint sauce put on my plate it was way too much. Unfortunately there was no profiteroles so had to have ice cream...
P. T.
Only problem small bottle of tonic water £2.20!!! Carvery excellent

Went with my daughter and grandson on Sunday. Was very busy and was an hour wait. We decided to stay as it would have been just as bad to leave and go elsewhere. We had a drink each while we waited. The coke was refillable although barmaid didn't tell us .my grandson asked later on. Queuing up was a bit stressful for me as it was very hot but it's expected. The beef looked very fatty as the chef was carving it. We asked if he could find any pieces that were leaner to put on our plates with the turkey. He turned it around and carved other side. The veg was average. Cabbage carrots mashed potato peas . When we were eating our dinners we found the beef was still very fatty but we felt by then there was no point going back to change it as we were full from veg and potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. When waitress came to ask if food was good I showed her our beef and she said unfortunately they do get some joints from suppliers that slip in like that. I then asked to speak to a manager who said it's because it's rib eye! I said I wasn't happy as 3 meals cost £33 without drinks which we paid £12 for earlier. He the took £10 off the bill. We may go there again but not on a Sunday and definitely won't have the beef
D. A. J.
Hot food, service excellent, definitely return
G. L.
Okay food but a bit dried out, and you don't get the extra sausages and Yorkshire for the king size plate for some reason??
Waitress claimed ignorance about it!
Hilarious 😀
M. S.
Absolutely great ...staff very friendly and the pigs in blankets glazed for sharing were amazing. Also able to box up and take away what we never managed.
C. N. R.
This place just gets too busy. We feel a little guilty giving only a 3.5 star but the feel is almost like a school canteen. You get very good food for a reasonable price so the place is always busy during peak times and the queues are simply too long for us. All that said, we'd like to reiterate that we have never had a bad meal here! 3.5*'s
D. F.
It was very good today, plenty of good food, it was all fresh and hot, unlike a few weeks ago, when it was very little veg and meat. Most veg was dry.
B. M.
Just had a drink which was very reasonably priced for a Toby
J. D.
Reasonable good but no different to all the others
G. H.
We visit once a week and the service and food is first class
L. D.
Very nice place to eat. The waiter tia was brilliant 👏 we come here most Sundays and she is always happy willing to help.
L. M.
Lovely food, our waitress was lovely and attentive (not sure of her name- receipt says minera? Table 5?- shes new) thank you :)
N.
Have eaten here for Sunday carvery on numerous occasions and never been disappointed. Little bit different this time as to be expected with restrictions in place but still enjoyed a great Sunday lunch and plenty of it!! Well worth a visit and look forward to returning again soon.
T. R.
The food is good. I can't take that away from the place. The staff is friendly (mostly) sometimes been waiting for over 45 minutes even after booking online with a time slot. The place also gets overwhelmingly hot and stuffy when full capacity. Had a strange experience with the carvery. While queuing and being served, the portions of meat were being weighed. I was charged full price yet didn't recieve the amount of meat you'd expect for the price paid. Other than that it's a place worth a visit, just try to avoid peak times.

Had a good one way system in place but clearly the staff (Especially the Host/Greeter) had experienced alot of hassle with visitors as their hospitality skills seemed to have worn thin. There were no alternative options to the carvery and no dessert menus just a swift read through of the desserts that were available. The Carvery system was a little strange as the carvery had an assistant to plate your meal to avoid contamination by members of the public but both seemed to mistake our parties yes and no's, so when we got back to the table we had unwanted yorkshire puddings, stuffing, the wife had only a slice of turkey that wouldn't have filled half a sandwich( she didn't notice at point of service as she was helping our daughter with the veg options on her plate). Food crisis aside, we requested salt and pepper for the table and were given WET Shakers, the salt inside the shaker was clumped as was the next to be told that it was because they were sanitizing the shakers*( probably best not to sprinkle that on your dinner unless the shakers were only sanitized in a dishwasher). The food was absolutely outstanding!! The extras that were available as vegetables like mac'n'cheese and sliced potato in gravy made it even better than it already was. The desserts were good but didn't match the quality of the hot food. Would definitely visit again to see if it was just an odd day that they were having as the food deserved better hosting than that on the day. Come on everyone pucker up.
R. H.
Fantastic food a bit steep on the price 12.95 extra 1.99 for King size plate but it was a Sunday. Still really nice will definitely be going again.
V. B.
The food was delicious and the servers were so lovely. The space is really nicely spaced so you didn't feel too close to anyone.
G. F.
It was my first time going to a carvery and boy did I love it. The selection of meats was excellent and the staff very friendly on top of that the amount you can really take on one of the king-size plates is truly enough to feed a small family but I did eat it all to myself the reviews of the carrots gravy onions and roast potatoes are all the same they are well cooked and up to standards you do you expect and for the sheer amount of food this is absolutely perfect. I can only recommend that going to the Carvery on a Sunday is a lovely occasional especially if you'd like to overheat a little bit as I did.
L. P.
During a visit to our daughter in Cardiff University, we booked a carvery lunch at this venue. We've been before and the quality was excellent as before. The staff were most helpful taking our requests made during booking into account and making sure we were well cared for.
Very small queue for carvery, meat selection was good and of good quality.
Would recommend anyone to visit for a superb all you can eat roast
D. E.
Very nice meal as always and we got there just before the rush. I've no idea what that green stuff was but I wish I had more of it. There was a man there who was quite rude and the waitress dealt with him calmly and in a proficient manner. Are they given tablets to keep cool in situations like that ?
B. C.
Hit and miss but delish last time we went
F. T.
Meal was very good but the service was very poor. Had to ask twice for waiter to take dessert order and in the end had to write out the order and give it to a passing waitress. We then had to wait a very long time, over half an hour before having to ask the waitress twice where the order was. She said that they did have other customers and that it would be with us soon. A following 15 minutes later we finally had the dessert.

5 stars for the food. Delicious and plentiful carvery. King size is huge and we all struggled to finish it. BUT..
However so not set up for guests with disabilities. The seating was cramped as we had 2 guests with disability equipment . There was no offer for help for getting the carvery for 2 elderly disabled guests. We also had to stand in a queue for 25 minutes with 30 people in front of us for the carvery. Our elderly parents struggled to stand that long and the queue lanes were not wide enough for their rollators.
It was delicious food and worth the wait but really disappointed in the way the queuing system worked and the lack of consideration for disabled guests. Wheelchair users would have struggled even more.
R. T.
As usual, a very good selection of meats and veg at a brilliant price.
There is plenty of seating, but would recommend booking for Sunday as it is very popular.
Between the 8 of us, we had the newly added lamb, which was excellent, the beef- how can you go wrong, the gammon- just remember to get gravy afterwards and the turkey was moist.
The XL dinner- 2 sausages and extra Yorkshire pudding is a great hit and goes down well.
The refillable drinks have a good selection, with flavours available, such as lime, strawberry, cherry and vanilla.
Again, an excellent meal, would not hesitate to visit again.
A. C.
Food just above average - meat and yorkies good but everything else rather cold/stale...long overdue being replaced by fresh items. Looked unappetising.
Clearly very understaffed, it took almost 5 minutes for an available server to appear to seat us but they were mid task and there was no other staff member to assist. Another 5 minutes wait to be seated. 10 minutes for drink orders to be taken after being seated and a further 10 for them to arrive (by now we had began eating).
Staff very polite and professional but understandably rushed.
Very clean and tidy.
Used a voucher so total bill came to £16.10 for x2 carvery mains, x1 bottled soft drink and x1 bottomless soft drink. Paid quickly via app as waiting for a bill seemed like it would take a long time. If it were a more expensive meal I'd feel a need to complain but for what we paid, the standard seems appropriate.
G. G.
My family and I went to Whitchurch Toby Carvery and we really enjoyed the hot food and the service was at a good standard , the staff was friendly and very accommodating
T. O.
not the tastiest breakfast I've had..
but no complaints
A. B.
Hugely busy place, on a Sunday, very popular, with good reason too. Shown to our booked seats. Our mothers 88th birthday treat.8 of us were offered drinks they waitress was natural happy and friendly. We went to what seemed a long queue for our carvery. ..this queue vanished and the slight wait helped salivation as the huge steaming joints of meat were on display and carved generously. A vast selection of equally steaming vegetables available including "Roast potatoes in beef dripping" after adding all these delights to your plate you can then pour a "glossy rich gravy" over the meal.
This devoured. ....ice creams served by the friendly lady.
A very pleasant experience.
Thank you Toby Inn
T. P.
Always lovely food lovely place staff are friendly I was served today by Minera lovely person friendly and really helpful she done a wonderful job everyone should try toby carvery the carvery is out of the world
N. W.
This is a great place for groups or just couples, very welcoming staff, even when very busy they would let you know that you were next. Three of us had the carvery at a very good price for the portion size. Excellent choice of meat and veg and their superb gravy. I've been several times and the quality is always high, the only 'but' is book ahead because this place does get busy
L. L.
From walking in and being greeted by Emily, Mary and Mitch, the evening was fantastic. Considering the current circumstances, the staff were just so attentive, nothing was too much trouble. Food was so delicious, the staff on the deck, Lavinia, Betsi, Jenna and owain were superb!!!!! Every little detail of what you required was done. Brilliant staff!!! As for feeling safe, all the Covid precautions that they have taken, are top notch. I feel so very safe visiting Toby Carvery. Thank you all
R. M. V.
I came here Wednesday night but they'd run out of meat. Came for breakfast Thursday morning and while the food was tasty they didn't have hash browns or friend bread.
I should have mentioned (and it's unfair of me to leave out) that the staff have always been and remain excellent.
S. P.
Great value food, lovely staff, stella on tap. Special mention to our waitress Tia who did a fantastic job. Thank you :)
T. H.
Excellent service and really good food
A. R.
So the food was fine, I mean it's a Toby carvery. You know what your going in for, big Yorkie puds and loads of veg. Just what I wanted and why it got 3 starts. The two missing stars were all down to service, now I get it's Sunday and it's busy. But we made a booking and when we arrived we were met by the host who made no attempt at conversation, made us wait 5-10 mins in silence while he did whatever on his system in front of us. No apology no explanation of what's going on or how long it would be. Then after mains we were looking at the desert menu and when the waiter came round, expecting to be asked for deserts, he instead presented us with the bill. It felt like he was saying get out. So we settled up and ordered deserts and settled up again. Not ideal and not the usual service I'd expect from here.
G. E.
Visited on a Sunday after the Cardiff 10k race and it was rammed. Unfortunately as we had kids and with it being busy, we didn’t want to loose our table (which had to be in the bar because it was so busy), only one of us could go and get food at a time. However, by the time the first person had got the food it was too late for the other to go get theirs with the queue which had grown even longer, so we had to have a refund.
That said, it was nice food, staff were sympathetic and didn’t quibble over a refund. would go again, but not when it’s so busy.
R. B.
Great food. Social distancing was done well. I was served by Liz. An absolute credit to the company. You could see she was busy but did it all with a smile on her face.
L.
I absolutely recommend this place, because it is a place where family's can reunite. Nowadays, everyone is stuck to there phones, tablets or laptops and family's don't tend to keep in touch as much as they should. Especially, in my family but as soon as we sat down to eat we put all our electronics away and began to reconnect. Furthermore, if u have family that you feel you've become quite distant towards, then come and enjoy a spectacular meal at Toby Carvery.
J. J.
Food was good we had the buffet. Our waiter was excellent and so friendly and helpful. The one thing that really makes me angry in this Toby. Is how warm it is every time we visit and in this warm weather it was uncomfortable. They have very low ceilings and it holds in the heat there are aircon units there but they are never in use. I felt that I wanted to rush my food and get out of there. Will not visit until it's cooler but even in the winter certain areas are sticky and uncomfortable. Not pleasant.
L. W.
Great breakfast and staff really friendly.
S. B.
Let me order take away even though they were busy. I only had cash to pay so couldn't order online like I would of done, they leg me walk in order and take home was very nice of them even through they had a large queue for bookings. I don't live far so its convenient for me to take out. I dodnt see a tip jar though which is shame because I would of.
M. J.
Quality roast dinner, couldn't ask for more. the service was excellent and it was great value for money. It was ridiculously busy due to the wearher, but the queue went quickly and the carving staff serving the roasts were very good. Only bad points I could mention that it was really hot especially by the cavalry counter and they had run out of Real Ale that day which was a bit of a disappointment
S. R.
Not very child friendly. The carvery is amazing but if you have fussy kids like mine, the choice of meals is very very poor. It pretty much amounts to some sort of pasta dish or a filled Yorkshire pudding. There are no chips, sausage, nuggets etc so my son was limited to some meat with one or two roasts. Enjoyed the experience but wouldn't return here, there are better pubs which are closer and do both carvery and other meals.
S. W.
Food was gorgeous here today. Very busy but worth queueing for.
J. R.
Visited the Masons today for a carvery, we ate in the bar, the surroundings were pleasant and comfortable.
The food was very good and tasty but plates were cold and food tepid. Such a shame as it should have been excellent, not just okay.
I had beef and gammon, my portion was a good size. My husband had turkey and pork, his portion was small, about half the size of mine, he asked for crackling, but was told there was none left (this was around 12.15pm).
The staff were pleasant, polite and welcoming, though no staff approached our table to check if everything was ok, so did not have the opportunity to inform them of our disappointment.
Such a shame as it would have taken so little to make this meal very good.
E. M.
Greeted by friendly staff and seated right away. Have eaten at many Toby Carveries, but this one gave the best portions of meat and had a better variety of veg including butternut squash and leeks. Really enjoyed our meal, only issue I had was that it was very warm in there. Would definitely eat here again.
p. d.
Butlinsesque, long queues, strict 90 timing on tables, flat lager, smudged glasses and grubby cutlery, tasteless food. Avoid.
P. G.
Lovely meal good variety, we had a carvery. Bit of a long wait for desert to arrive
G. C.
Good carvery, separate vegetarian / vegan menu. Large carpark. Plus on-site Travel Lodge.
N. S.
It was a good meal and service was good.
D. C.
Has now been decorated and looks really nice. However recently went for food in the bar and paid, later was told the kitchen had closed an hour earlier as they had run out if meat! This is the 3rd time this has happened to me in the last 3 years and I don't even eat there that often. We were told its because they've been so busy since the refit, well for one thing that's no excuse, this is a business and anyway I have been told by numerous members of staff that the dining numbers have not gone up to that extent.
S.
Can't beat a king size portion whilst watching your children make do with their overloaded kiddy plates. As ever the little one might as well just ask for a plate of stuffing and Yorkshire.
O. T.
We spent the weekend above here in the Travel Lodge for a stag do, so as you can imagine, we spent a decent amount of down time in the carvery and bar. Clean and tidy, well presented with a little history on the area etc. Managed to sort me out a Vegan option at the carvery last minute which was incredibly nice of them. Large screen TVs to watch the sports and a large beer garden. What's not to like.
A. H.
This place is good value. The food is good quality and well cooked. It can be busy and noisy but this is never excessive. They do offer some 'non-carvery' options and one vegetarian choice .
==--=-=
I have revised this in January 2014. Service has become poorer, perhaps due to it being busier, and overall it is noisier and more chaotic.
M. J.
Breakfast deck very disappointing. Very few people in restaurant. Very little available to eat. Had to pop back twice for bacon, sausage and egg. Least you could do is have food ready
O. G.
What a fantastic visit! We were greeted at the door by a young lad wearing a elf t shirt who was very kind. Looked after by a tall young lad who gave excellent service. Great food. Great drinks and even at this busy time of year. I'll be back before the new year!
J. S.
enjoyed the food , great selection, more staff needed at this busy time of year though.
Polite staff and friendly.
They do definatley need to tart up the decor, a few ceiling lights were hanging away from the recess with cobwebs visible, my table by the window made me look at the stains on the wallpaper and white dust on the dado rails which is not very good.
Food and drinks great though.
M. M.
Thanks to Molly for making the experience at Toby Carvery a good one again today !! ... well organised safety systems also in place.
G. S.
I would highly recommend this restaurant. You need to book in advance on the weekend as it gets very busy but it is not surprising that it is so popular as the excellent meal provided is good value. The staff work hard to ensure that the customers are provided with a high standard of service. The location is ideal being just off the M4 but you may have to wait a while for a car space to become free.
C. P.
Very disappointed tonight. Waited an hour for a table which we accepted. Then queued 15 minutes at the carvery, then 3 before us they took away the turkey. Which still had plenty of meat remaining on it. Which left 2 meat's to choose from! 5 meat's advertised and 2 hours left of service with only 2 meats! My daughter in law only eats turkey so couldn't eat. Staff did apologize, but I still think this is poor service.
F.
Toby is Toby anywhere I guess, not a lot good or bad to make this one stand out but a solid cheap roast
G. C.
Consistent as far as Tobys' go. Ate 6pm on a Sunday so stock of meat and veg waning (to be expected). Always looks clean there. Service efficient and was able to get a table with no booking. Exactly what I'm looking for that time on Sunday evening, get in, eat, get out.
C. B.
Been To this particular branch a couple of times.
The first time I can honestly say the food and service was brill. However when visiting recently me and my partner were left a bit disappointed.
A few things that came to light. Went over to get a high chair for my son... it was filthy, covered in dried up food (it had obviously been left for a while). The food wasn’t brill. It all looked a bit sad. The stuffing was rock solid, broccolli was hard, roast potatoes were burnt, and there were no caramelised onions (a must have for me on a roast) there was a major que becouse people were waiting around for fresh veg to come out of the kitchen. Also the meat I was given was not enough for the price but in all fairness was really tasty. I like the fact you can get a refill on drinks. Also it was very quite as in there was no loud music on unlike most places.
Probably will come back again just not in a rush.
T. W.
Called here for an ' all you can eat ' breakfast. Food was alright for the low price you pay but service was not great and food items from the help yourself hot buffet had run out and there was no sign of any staff to replenish it. Also the vegetarian sausages had to be asked for as there were none out with the rest of the hot food which took a long time to arrive and even then it was just two served on a plate rather than just added to the buffet table. If you are not fussed on the quality of food is worth a visit but the premier inn breakfasts are far superior.
M. L.
Booked the day before and was greeted by a friendly member of staff.
The place wasn't too busy with a nice atmosphere.
All the staff I dealt with were friendly and helpful.
The carpark is a nice size too
C. F.
Lovely meal great service, thoroughly enjoyed, look forward to next visit
L. B.
This is a difficult one to write, the staff service was perfect and no faults there. friendly and efficient. Unfortunately the food was a bit lacking, and the gammon was way too salty, would go again but would hope this is investigated :)
M. B.
Fabulous food, little bit mean with the meat portion on my husband's meal. Service very good considering it was busy.
A little expensive but overall quality and choice was very high!
R. “. G. D.
Regularly come here for all-you-can-eat breakfast and it never disappoints.
It's generally quite quiet up until around 11 o'clock, the staff are friendly and the food is pretty decent but the coffee is not very good.
Cosy decor, ample parking and being just set back off the main road makes it easily accessible (easy wheel chair access too).
D. M.
Very disappointed with the look of the sausages Sunday. They were very cooked one side very very pale the other, plus they were all likened together???, was told by bar person they come in cooked and are probed. Fair enough but put some colour on them. The plates were too small, usually it's the bigger plates there so the food has to be squashed on looking awful tbh. Have been before so was disappointed this occasion.
D. O.
20 minute wait at 6pm for a carvery on a Sunday (table for 3), so we bought drinks at the bar whilst we waited. A pint of Stella l, a fruit shoot and a lemonade came to £8.10, which isn't cheap, but the lemonade was unlimited refills. Carvery was good, although they had run out of Gammon. Table was clean, and no fuss on the service provided. Good experience for a cheap carvery.
B. L.
Food good as always.. a lot nicer to visit since the refurbishment even the service seemed quicker... Can't wait for our next carvery there 😁
Visited again while staying for the England v Wales rugby 23/2/19.most of the staff really pleasant and friendly, except one in the morning of the game, he had all the approachability and friendliness of herpies, being in the hospitality industry means being Hospitable! Apart form him enjoyed our stay as usual,!👍
L. P.
Although the serving spoons and tongs were almost too hot to hold, the food was disappointingly luke warm - even the gravy. Meat had a lovely taste but there wasn't very much of it. The stuffing was cut into "bricks". It was totally overcooked and had no moisture in it at all. Having eaten at many Toby Carvery around the UK, this has to be my second from worst. There was very loud music in the kitchen. Maybe if the cooks spent more time watching the food rather than singing and dancing, the food would be much better!
B. S.
Excellent Food and Service Will Be Back Again
R.
Lovely food and great service, Tia we give you 5* out of 5*s lovely and friendly - very welcoming!
J. E.
Been coming here for quite a few years with approx 12 friends for xmas lunch. We went today and it wasn't up to the usual standard. We had to wait about 30 mins for our starters to be served and then the soup was cold so had to be returned to the kitchen. When it came back it wasn't much hotter. The meat on the carvery was ok. The parsnips were black and inedible and again the dinner and gravy was only lukewarm. I didn't have a dessert but my friends said the desserts were nice. When my colleague asked for the bill and the free bottle of prosecco for booking by the end of October she was told she wasn't entitled to it as the meals had to be booked by 29th October. She had booked the meals on 29th October. As we had such a bad meal the manager begrudgingly gave her the prosecco which she was entitled to anyway.!!
Don't think I'll be coming back here in a hurry. Would rather go to Cardiff gate!!
L. B.
It's quite good and decent for the price you pay. Not bad too is the XL upgrade for like the extra £2
S. R.
Bit of a queue but was steadily moving
I. F.
Fast and efficient carvery on a busy Sunday lunchtime. Nothing to really shout about, food was as expected, reliable Toby carvery!
d. d.
Breakfasts are nice here. You go pay for your breakfast at the bar and your given a mug to help yourself to as much coffee as you like. It's the same with the full English breakfast. You help yourself to as much of the full breakfast as you like including toast. Go up as many times as you want. Only downfall here is they do not open till 08.00 so if your an early started in your job before this time then it's not for you. McDonald is about two miles away for an earlier breakfast but they are expensive and the breakfast hun isn't value for money. Strongly recommend Toby carvery in Cardiff though for the breakfast which is eat as much as you want. At £6.70p it's worth it.(prices may have changed to co-inside with inflation but not by much(
R. C.
Had table booked, food average ,carvery looked like a under5 kids party old used veg in carvery deck chipolata sausages on floor!!.As it was Sunday increased price claiming had 5 joints supposed to be slow roasted lamb but wasn't was very bloody and undercooked.Gravey station was disgusting gravey pots seemed to be glued to table sauces were empty. Desserts wanted strawberry sponge only to be told after waitress had been to table twice had none ____ not very professional .Wouldn't recommend it on Sunday due to price have had a lot better.
D. A.
I like the company of the HM armed forces veterans breakfast club and the support that it gives the both wider the ex and current armed forces community. I have an issue with some of the lack of choice at breakfast including the late arrival of mushrooms and the lack of choice with no poached and no scrambled eggs. However overall it is a good place.
J. A.
Sometimes you want a reliable, predictable carvery. Since the Hollybush became a pizza-fun-pub-slash-carvery, this is probably the best local place to get one now. Comfortable decor, plenty of room, cheap deals on Doom Bar occasionally. Does what it does well - not much to shout or complain about.
D. S.
Visited for breakfast one Friday, food was amazing, and very well priced, will definitely visit more frequently, great experience
S. E.
Unbelievable superb food. The staff were superb under the busiest of times. The female chef was divine and the gentleman waiting staff was so attentive and kind!! Well done guys
D. H.
Great unlimited breakfast (the maple pancakes are awesome), really good carvery, although on some occasions the Yorkshire puddings can be a bit dry and overcooked. Other than that, excellent.
C. P. S.
missing meat on the plate... But delicious
A. D.
Big queues waiting for food. ran out off lamb my favourite meat.had to settle for turkey but nice food
P. R.
Nice carvery that was pretty good. Pleasant staff and great puddings.
J. H.
I would like to say a big THANK YOU to EVERYONE at this Toby Carvery today!! My Mum ( 87!) Is extremely immobile and from the second we walked in the staff were all so helpful ...opening doors and helping to lift the wheelchair over difficult ridges ect!! God bless you all!!
J. T.
It's Sunday and it's the morning after. Need a full English. Any other day of the week I would go to a proper cafe. Filled a hole, not as good as the work canteen. Quick, soulless and no I don't want a Yorkshire pudding with breakfast. For those with an all you can eat mindset this is the place for you. Distinctly average
D. R.
Had a lovely carvery meal here - excellent value, meat was beautifully cooked and plenty of choice of vegetable sides etc. The chocolate fondant and raspberry dessert was really nice. Special mention for the very attentive waiter, Tony, who I noticed was very observant and quick to help those who needed it, eg. helping bring plates of food from the carvery and helping people on with their coats etc - he also searched round for a socket so I could charge my phone.
C. O.
Staff fab food great
A. G.
Often come here and enjoy the meals. Mash isn't the best but the rest is full of taste and flavour.
Reasonably priced, with a nice variety of puddings available.
Can't expect anything less from your local Toby Carvery
M. D.
It seemed as though there just weren't enough staff and the staff there were weren't the best, drinks took an eternity to come out and starters, well we were reaching the point of getting up and leaving when they appeared, yep there was one missing which took another 10 minutes. I must admit the food was nice, the next sigh moment came when we went up for our carvery, there was meat that we had to wait for because all of the plates brought out were dirty so we had to wait for clean plates, from the meat we got to the potatoes and veg selection, there was nothing left so we had to wait a further 10 minutes for fresh veg and potatoes to come out, it sort of killed the mood of the dinner, we weren't impressed.
S. b.
Staff are very friendly and food is good quality. However, do you not come between one and 3:30 pm. Sundays are extremely busy. Either come at 12 pm. Or come at 4 pm onwards. We were queueing for 35 minutes. Really really busy. Plan carefully.
A. W.
Food was nice, very expensive though. Considering it is £10.49 per person for a normal size carvery, you'd expect them to be less stingy on the meat. The meat slicing resembled some sort of WW2 rationing.
W. S.
Always hot food, the food is well cooked however doing go if you like crunch veg as theirs is always well done. Polite staff and plenty of space between tables.
B. C.
Well it's Saturday night and I'm laying in the dark staring at my bedroom ceiling... I'd like to thank Tony Carvery for keeping me awake. I can't sleep through anticipation of what I'll be experiencing in the morning. They never fail to provide me with a FABULOUS Sunday morning breakfast, service with a smile and big belly when I'm rolling back to my car. Top notch grub for a great price.
P. “. P.
Staff are lovely, friendly
Place is clean
Food is tasty as always.
Love coming here
#StuffedNow 😁😁

Very disappointing as the food had run out we were there for 7.30 it was a family gathering so had booked as have tried to get in twice before without booking, we had come from Yorkshire for the occasion. Some of the staff were great but others were very abrupt.we wanted coffee afterwards and were told that they had turned it off this was at 9.30
M. C.
About a half hour wait on a Sunday evening wasnt too bad, staff were friendly and helpful. Could have had more meat on the plate considering it's a carvery, and vegetables to be better stocked, but overall a very enjoyable meal out.
E. H.
Having visited a Private Clinic in Cardiff, I lost my way going back to the M4 Bristol/London and came across this Toby Restaurant where we were well cared for by Tony the Waiter and he also helped me by carrying my Carvery Plate to our Table. Delighted with our lucky chance upon this particual Toby and will hopefully find my was there following my next visit to Cardiff in October 2018. I look forward to the Carvery with Great Anticipation.

Been ringing for the last 3 days leaving my name nd number and no one is getting back to me ,don't any one listen to your messages 🙃we finially got a answer nd book for today .and the food was lovely

Very good food with a fantastic staff team

Nice Toby......... Staff pleasant and helpful. A transitional feel, but nice for the type of pub it is.....
Renovated relatively recently, looks nice 👍🏼
Carvery great, just nice little stop-off

So the food was fine, I mean it's a Toby carvery. You know what your going in for, big Yorkie puds and loads of veg. Just what I wanted and why it got 3 starts. The two missing stars were all down to service, now I get it's Sunday and it's …
J. M.
A good carvery selection, very generous portions. The staff are very helpful and friendly.
M. V.
Had a typical Toby carvery. Server was helpful, and took drinks order. Chef was ok carving, thought meat portion had reduced since last time, and price gone up. Blame Brexit. You go here and know what you'll get. Also had a coupon from online. Worth checking and registering, as they regularly send through offers, and birthday discounts.
D. J.
A nice place to go for a carvery. Food is of a good quality and plentiful. Service is quite friendly. Top tip.... Try and book in advance to avoid disappointment as this place can get quite busy. There are parking spaces but can be quite tight.

Very expensive, coke and bottle of water £ 4.65

Feeding cattle market... don't expect more. Always feel you're being processed rather than fed in a Toby carvery. You can even pay bill via their app. Hardly need to speak to waiting staff. Ah well... stop the world. Food ok though.

I brought my daughter to Toby Whitchurch today and we were both delighted with the quality of food, the price and the fantastic staff (especially Debbie).
The roast beef was fantastic. We'll certainly be back.

A bit hit'n'miss in the past but this time the food was really delicious. Toilets a very old but looks like they're being done as every toilet cubicle had a proper seat!!

Been here a number of times and each time it seems they have different rules. Sometimes we can use the 2 for £10 and the ice cream offer (there's 5 of us and 2 pairs have the bogof and the other uses the ice cream voucher!) , other times we cant with the explanation that 'they were wrong last time!) , last time the turkey was delayed, last night (again) when we went in we were told there was problem and that the turkey would be about one hour, we went in sat down and chatted and delayed going up for a bit, 20 minutes later were told (upon asking chef) that the turkey would still be about 1 hour, OK so we ate from only three not four meats , we still had to pay full price though even though two of the party really mainly genuinely wanted (only) the turkey but would have the beef instead as there was no choice. Anyway a bit of a row ensued as we were refused the ice cream offer unless we paid full price (£5.99 each not £5 each) for each of the 5 carveries, fair enough maybe but be consistent, train the staff to get it right, so we paid £5.99 (4 meat price) for a 3 meat carvery , look it was yummy , but customer service was lacking.
As we left some 2 hours 40 minutes later , people coming in were being advised, there was a problem with the turkey, it would be ready within 30 minutes!!!! Lies lies and damn lies, just get the suckers in, sit them down, get them eating, take their money, sod the service, sod the honesty, bye bye, not coming again, despite regular repeat custom, treated like dirt too often and this last time, the staff were over run, (under staffed though it was busier than usual but that's not our problem) ,I had to request the bill 4 times and only got it when I was curt with the staff ,and then the lies re the turkey, do they really think we dont realise what's going on?

Recently refurbished and food is always great, when it's not so busy carvery chefs are in the kitchen so getting served at the carvery involves a little wait. Overall nice relaxed atmosphere super service and great food.

Came for breakfast, good quality sausages and bacon, fried and scrambled eggs, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms , lovely hash- pots and onions with cheese, toast , jam and marmalade...only drawback was waiting for my daughters veggie sausages which had to be ordered and were obviously done in microwave so not at all appetising, apart from that was good value and did enjoy everything else.

My son left his IPhone on the floor in one of the boothes, Jack kindly found it and handed it over and Della off her own back used her own money and time to make sure the phone got back to me by registered delivery really well wrapped to avoid any damage. Really greatful and the service during our meal there was brilliant very kind and friendly . Thank you guys x

Cait provided awesome service for my dad's meal for fathers day and the food was excellent will definitely return. I was also offered the pigs in blankets at the start which I regret not having.

Loved it. Lovely roast meal.

Usually have food in the toby carvery in rhoose. Whilst the food was nice the food must of been at the counter for a while as most of it was dry rather than tasting fresh, no option for mint gravy if I was comparing between this one to rhoose by far rhoose wins.

Restaurant was great, many people here with a great selection of food, the atmosphere was calm and relaxed with not a lot of noise.
My favorite part was the carvery as there is a good selection if different meats and add-ons.
