L. S.Visited here with my family not long ago, 19 of us total. Food came out reasonably quick despite the large order between us all. Food was flavourful and we'll presented, we will be visiting again!
s. e.Excellent staff and a lovely meal, was very impressed to find a 4oz steak on the kids menu, the waitress looked a little shocked when we asked for it rare for our 4 year old but that's how she likes it! All food was very good and even the fussy vegan in the group was fine
R. F.Not the best visit we've ever had. The place was really busy and service was slow because of that. There were 1 or 2 issues with the meals - modification that were not done but the server was very apologetic and were rectified quickly.

We walked in and waited to be offered a table.Five minutes later a person who we assumed was a manager of some kind put down what he was doing and actually decided to greet us by asking if we had a reservation.We told him we hadn't and after some silence while he consulted his diary were shown to a table and were offered drinks which were served promptly enough.A waitress came to take our order and we ordered off the lunch menu. The food when it came was of reasonable quality but could have been served a little better. My steak was served with the minimum of chunky fries and garden peas which was tasty enough but underwhelming. No sauces were offered on the menu and I had to ask for French mustard and salt and pepper.My wife's gammon she enjoyed but reported that it was nothing special.The starters we had ordered with the main meal were disappointing. The garlic bread consisted of two small thin wedges not much bigger than a slice of bread with no accompanying dips of any sort. My wife's garlic mushrooms were ok however.A meal which was ok but we expect and have previously had far better than this from Beefeater.
S. E.Wish they would sort this place out had a meal yesterday and the food was awful it’s literally hit and miss been there a few times and the food was great. Service is always good can’t complain about that but the food how can it be good one time and absolute garbage the next burnt mash potatoes old veg basically thrown on the plate!!

Understaffing doesn't account for allowing other patrons to smoke inside the building, for underwhelming mains and for allowing walk-ins who overstay their alloted table time.
Kudos at least to the staff, who, although completely overwhelmed by the level of work they were being expected to do, were friendly and cheerful.

T. W.Went here for the first time for Christmas Day Lunch. Booked for 14:30, still waiting for a table at 15:00. Would have been nice if we had been offered complementary drinks due to the wait and then had to remind the manager that we were still waiting.. when we did get seated our drinks order got forgotten about and had to ask a waitress twice if we could get them. To be fair it did seem that they were rushed off their feet and it appeared that they had too many people to deal with with the staffing numbers they had. Due to Covid they could well have had staff off sick which is understandable. The staff were very friendly and helpful when they were available and the food was hot and tasty when it arrived. If the very slow service was due to a staffing problem then I would go again for Christmas Day food as the food itself was very good.

S. P.We were really impressed with our recent visit to the Walston Castle. The service was absolutely spot on, every waitstaff who served our table was friendly, genuinely looked happy and generally made us feel very welcome without being over the top. The food was really good, and what impressed me most was they provided a list up front of what WASN'T available on the menu due to stock/delivery issues. This was genius and avoided having to panic choose something else when the waiter is taking your order and the chosen dish isn't on. No long waits for service or food, the place was busy but table spacing was well done. We'll definitely be back.

S. C.Jeeze ate here last night Sunday 21st November food was Luke warm , bar service was horrendous stood waiting 10 minutes to be served we even popped our head around the door to get their attention , it was not busy . Food served by 3 of them (???) .
Had brekkie booked for the following morning ( not again) . Brekkie was Luke warm, poached eggs swimming in water , they were runny though 😀. Bacon had a taste of last night grills on it.
There was a young family whose child was having an amazing time at the continental table playing with the tongues moving the food around from plate to floor an back again, yes parents should take control but so should the team it’s their rep at stake .
We are here at the premier till Thursday but we won’t be eating here again.
Up date……. After talking to Sean the restaurant manager we did give the restaurant another couple of goes and the food was good , everyone has off days . Well done team for pulling it back .
W. R.Wasn't impressed with the taste of the food. We had a selection of the mixed platters averaging £20 each but the meat was too dry, some overly well done (for a medium-well). However, customer service was very friendly and professional.
L. D.Breakfast is nice but not amazing . Didn't have veggy sausages on offer , but I was offered meat sausage, I havnt ate meat for 30 years . But waitress explained that some meat eaters prefer veggy sausages. Good though you can have cooked breakfast, toast, croissants and unlimited coffee , juice etc for £9.50 , also children eat free. Just don't like having to make my own toast , coffee and so on. Although you don't have to wait for a waitress , so that's the plus side of helping yourself. Lovely staff so thank you so much .
Only half a tomato given and hash browns are tiny , beans small portion and the bread is the cheaper loaf , but you can have a second helping .

Breakfast the next morning was all that could be expected . I asked the porridge and it was made to order . We both had the vegetarian breakfast and the poached eggs were perfectly cooked .

P. S.The food and drinks are fine. Plenty of choice for all BUT the service is very very slow. We went for lunch and waited a long time for our drinks order to be taken and then another long wait before they arrived. It was 45 minutes before our starters arrived. In all we were there for three hours! If you want fast food this is not the place to go. More staff needed everywhere. How the waiter and waitresses stay smiling I do not know.

T.Service was a little lackluster and we were ignored for a while on arrival. There seemed to be plenty of staff not doing very much.
Food was OK. Burger was fresh and tasty but the triple cooked chips were disappointing and not as hot as they could have been.
Prices were reasonable and less than we expected because they managed to process our order as part of a "deals" menu (which we didn't know about because we hadn't been given that menu - service again)

P. B.Always a nice meal here. As a loyalty card holder i had 40% off main meals. Without these deals i think its getting a bit pricey. They did allow a birthday cake to be taken in for my grandaughters birthday and lit the candles for us to so thank you!
S. O.Nice restaurant nice staff unfortunately there is a disappointing lack of disabled seating for table service on the lower floor. From the disabled parking bays you enter the restaurant and for table service there is four tables which seat four people and one large round table seating several. There are steps up to more seats and the toilets are also accessed via steps. As the disabled parking is signposted to the main front entrance it is not practical to have limited tables and no toilet facilities on that level.
There was no table service seats available so we sat in the bar area and I needed to order at the bar, the bar man was very nice and helpful couldn't have been more amenable, but I really wanted a table service lunch so it was disappointing. The meal itself was very nice.
D. S.Tried some new items today. Steak trio was average. 3 small steaks. Asked to be cooked medium rare. Came more like well done. Assume its because the cuts are so thin. Tried the lobster mac and cheese. One mouthful and asked it to be removed from the table. Tasted and smelt horrendous. Triple chocolate Brownie for dessert. Very doughy which I love but very very sickly. Disappointed with the summer menu and new items. Stick to what I normally have. Duty manager looked in a terrible mood as well. Not what you want to see when you go to a restaurant 🙈😂

M. M.We have been many times. The meal is usually good as long as you don't order a steak as you get a well done every time even if you order medium. Service is not good. So don't go if you are not prepared to wait. Lack of staff seems to be the problem here.
J. D.I have to admit this was one of the most random of evenings I have ever had. We had prebooked but had to wait 10 mins to be seated.. our drinks had ice in when we asked for none. Then the two waiters proceeded to run up and down the steps most of the evening seemingly running around like they were lost.
Our mains were lovely if over an hour in coming out. And we had to ask for the dessert menus twice.
All in all the food was OK to good.. the service was comical, as in I haven't laughed so much at the dire disorganisation. If it wasn't for the fact that we had a coupon for money off and free food I would probably have complained.
T. S.Really nice interior here, nice layout with plenty of seating for any size group. Lots of choice of food on the menu, can be slightly disappointing if they run out of certain things, but the staff are super friendly and helpful and you don't have to wait long to be seen. You would probably want to book a table in advance on certain days.

5 Prawns does not make a Prawn Cocktail when you have to pay £6 for it.
The Mushroom starter was lovely, but no greenery and just 5 Mushrooms, at £6 that's over a £1 a mushroom, that's taking the mickey.
The Ugly:-
Standing for 20 minutes with my family when we'd booked a table.
When we were finally shown to our table it was 15mins before they took our drinks order and another 10 minutes waiting for them to turn up - 25 minutes in total.
But by far the 'Ugliest' was the attitude of the waiting and Bar Staff.
They were obviously woefully understaffed and were getting extremely harassed. In turn they were venting that frustration at the customers.
Our Waitress, a large middle aged lady with no name badge or manners was downright rude to me and my family because we had the audacity to change the table arrangements to better suit a party of five.
I've been to the Walston Castle before and have previously left very positive reviews.
Last night's experience was bitterly disappointing, primarily down to time delays, expensive starters and rude staff.
You've got some work to do Beefeater!

J.So went here about a week and a half ago as a random idea with the missus. I've passed this place a million times and had always given it a pass. Well I think I will keep doing that from now on. We got in and it was a lovely looking building. Only to be waiting at host point for almost 10 minutes before I walked up to go and get the waitresses attention who kept her back turned to us while on the pass after the chef had pointed out we were there. So walking up I find the manager/shift supervisor sat down hidden out of site by the tables near the toilets... now I supervise myself and I understand you have to talk and plans shifts but do it in sight!... So next came the absolute poor service. Our waitress who I can only describe and a plump girl as saying a big mess would be not so nice... but when you walk past your table purposely avoiding eye contact I don't know what you would expect. Just to remind everyone we were 1 of 4 tables in the entire place so she was not run off her feet at all. Just lazy with the work ethic of an Arabian prince... or an obese dole bum. So our food then sits on the pass for about 5 minutes as the waitress stands arround chatting with other staff. Eventually the food was brought the 6 steps it took to bring to us and then when it arrived i noticed the peppercorn i had ordered (admitedly slightly later) hadnt arrived... well guess where it was. On the pass while id eaten most of my mixed grill dry. Eventually the chef himself brought it to my table!. And guess what? the waitress(If you could call her that) was just stood chatting yet again. During the whole time, other than our drink and food order we didn't see anyone to check back on us. We didn't see anyone to offer us desserts(which we wanted) and I litteraly had to flag the women down to get my bill as she continued to avoid eye contact with me. Honestly. I've gone quite light on this review because I'm not allowed to say bad names but the names I have for that waitress and her attitude are beyond. I supervise in a resturaunts and have done for the last 4 years so I know a cancer to a business when i see one. And that waitress is exactly that. Just putting it out there the food was top draw... so good I walked up to the pass and gave the 2 chefs a tenner. Telling them the food deserves a tip but the service deserves scrapping. There was a black late 30s or early 40's man with a white guy id say early 30s with him... who cooked an amazing meal for me and the missus. It's a shame. Service here completely let me down and all because she had the attitude of someone that's too good to work... get down the dole office luv. There's better deserving people that will do the company proud unlike you!

K. L.My girlfriend and I went for Sunday breakfast here for the first time and found that the Walston Castle had just reopened after a complete refurbishment.
The decor was light and bright, the staff cheerful and very helpful and cooked breakfast by far the best we've ever had in a Beefeater.
