Went for a late lunch so the venue was less busy, however the restaurant still felt lovely and with a nice atmosphere in the upstairs room. Food was very good and not to pricey, the ice cream was delicious and creamy. Will definitely go again. Noticed also it had a lift to upstairs.

Simply put. The best food I've ever eaten in a resturant. The staff are relaxed and friendly and the wine list is impressive.

We visited with a really large group. Communication beforehand wasn't great. Service on the night was exceptional. The gentleman serving us went out of his way to accommodate us all and was a pleasure to deal with. He checked on us regularly and even took on the role of photographer - I wish I had taken his name to thank him. The food was a mixed bag. On the one hand, the menu was really lacking and a handful of our party were unable to find anything to eat. However, the food that was ordered was excellent, arrived quickly, and the portions were generous. They would only offer steak medium, unless you upgrade to serloin for £10pp, though. That's ridiculous, and the drinks were extortionately priced. 3 stars for the service and few fabulous dishes. On balance, I don't think I'll be returning.

Very nice relaxing place for a bite to eat. I had the burger, which I rarely choose, but I'm glad I did as it was delicious. Really thick patty with lots of cheese, salad, sauce etc, very difficult to eat but well worth the struggle. My partner had the Ragu, which was also very nice and made with real chunks of beef rather than just mince.

Utterly Flawless... Great Atmosphere, Great Food, Great Service The Church Street Tavern is a small backstreet gastro-pub. Decorated with an eclectic assortment of living room furniture, it boasts one of the most uniquely intimate and friendly atmospheres I've encountered in a long time. Service is warm, welcoming, and attentive, without being intrusive, and the selection of drinks is above average. As for the food, the sirloin here is one of the finest steaks I've eaten outside the continental United States, and could easily hold its head high in any Texan steak house. Side dishes were prepared perfectly, and the entire ensemble was of frankly excellent quality. Full marks all round. I'll be coming back here soon.

This has got to be the cosiest bar in town. As soon as you walk in, you're always greeted with a warm smile from the bar staff. If you fancy a cocktail or two they have plenty on offer including exclusive mixes from the tavern. I love the way the place is laid out, lots of different comfy chairs and sofas to snuggle up on and plenty of books and board games to delve into. I love coming here with my boyfriend and friends and it's always been a pleasant experience.

First time here last night. Nice decor, very welcoming and homely. The pork belly starter was incredible. Its a must! Then had a fish platter for two, which was really lovely. Great table service as well. Will definitely be back for more.

Have visited and had two long lunches with friends in the past fortnight, once eating upstairs and yesterday downstairs. Both the food and service has been generally very good and consistent, I am sure I will return again soon. Stand out dishes have been the very indulgent toastie and fries and Jansonn's Delight. The omelette and smoked salmon, whilst simple, was excellently executed. I am a wheelchair user and some members of staff have gone out of their way to assist me - much appreciated.

Lovely decor and a sometimes relaxed atmosphere, although on my most recent visit it felt like a bit of a crèche, one of the beers I wanted to try was “broken” and they ran out of bottles of the only other beer I wanted to try. Have previously had decent experiences here (the food is delicious) but when you plan to spend a few hours somewhere and all the drinks you want aren’t available, you soon cut your visit short.

Wow ! This was the first day that Church St Tavern was open after lockdown finally eased. My mother in law was turning 82 today and we had booked an alternate restaurant. 30 minutes before the booking the “other” venue phoned to cancel, giving maintenance issues as a reason. My wife tried to stay calm, as parents in law were in our house, drinking Prosecco and getting excited. One lovely call to the Church St Tavern and everything was fixed. Remarkable service, they accommodated us within 30 minutes. The food was superb, wonderful to be back in such a vibrant and interesting venue. Locally sourced food, exceptional service. Just brilliant. Thank you so much !

The menu looked really good, but I didn't have time to eat. A decent atmosphere, but some of the prices were a little steep. My friend wanted some rum, two doubles were priced at £13.00, but a very nice pub. Staff were polite as well. I think the restaurant is going to be well worth a visit. Try it, but stick to beer or cider.

Absolutely love this place, apart from Friday and Saturday nights this is such a chilled out place for some very nice wine and different beer selection. Only 4* as haven’t eaten here yet, but will do very soon. Since lockdown we were met at the door and the hostess explained the score and it was so well organised with table service. Really enjoyed our visit here. Lovely atmosphere and a great menu. We had three courses and both of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Great decor and the service is quick and professional. Bonus being as soon as you sit down you get a bottle of still water with no charge. Why all restaurants don't do this is beyond me. Now to the food. We had Sunday roast. I had the beef and it was amazing. Also probably had the best roast potatoes I've ever had. They were epic. I had Cauliflower soup for a starter that was also delicious. Highly recommended.
