L. E.The best Indian Food in town.. wasn't too quick to get the food but it was delicious.. my favourite rice is the lemon rice.. the mango lassi wan't too sweet which i like.. happy to come back again
A. I.Delicious high quality indian cuisine. If you want to taste real Indian/Bangladeshi traditional food I must recommend this restaurant. During my 2-week visit in Colchester for my research training, almost everyday I took dinner at this place. I loved their Biriyani plates and Maharani Specialities (chicken items). The price is affordable. The ambiance is super nice, comfortable and homely. Last but not the least, staffs are awesome, friendly and welcoming.
l. c.This place is excellent. We had been to many other Indian restaurants and among them Maharani is the best. When it comes to food, quality and quantity they top it all. Everything is fabulous. Their hospitality feels like you are at home and they make you feel so comfortable. Especially, the owner of this restaurant is a gem and very very kind person. He makes sure you are comfortable and the food is according to your taste. We visit this restaurant very often because of all the above mentioned things.
J. B.I have visited this restaurant twice in the last couple of weeks and both experiences were a real pleasure, the staff are friendly, helpful and very professional. The service was excellent, the food is made fresh to order so takes longer than normal, in my opinion I prefer this in between courses and also demonstrates the food is good quality and fresh. I have dined in most of the Asian/Indian/Nepalese restaurants in the area and am fussy so have been very pleased with both visits here and will be visiting again. I can definitely recommend to anyone looking for an affordable Indian restaurant that provides great service and tasty food! Thank you Maharani and see you again very soon.
K. R.I have been to this place many times with my wife and son and I must tell that food is excellent. Also, the owner is extremely welcoming, kind and always so humble. He is one of the reasons we love to visit the place because he makes us feel so good and comfortable. Food is brilliant and the price is so affordable. Must visit :)
H. D.Friendly, attentive service and really good food too, a new favourite of ours. Comes with nice little details like complimentary nibbles. Tip: the white marshmallow-like things served with water at the end are in fact hot towels!! Definitely recommended.
r.Had a fantastic night, with excellent service and amazing food (and really reasonably priced). We were made to feel very welcome and we were really looked after. A very enjoyable and relaxing evening. We can’t wait to go back. Thank you also for letting us try the masala tea!
J. M.Food was excellent and service was polite and speedy. They were also accommodating when it came to menu changes due to a Keto diet. They went the extra mile for our birthday party and played music over the speaker and brought out a cake and chocolates (the latter a gift from restaurant that we hadn't brought)
Meats were tender and sauces rich and vibrant. The poppadoms were nice and crisp ( for the non-Keto guests) and the Nan bread were fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside .

This was my 2nd visit and the guys there went above and beyond with the service. I first called about 2pm hoping to book a table but they were shut, about an hour later they returned my call. I was booked in for 7:30, about 5pm they called to say they maybe running a little behind time so could we put it back 15 mins or so, which I was more than happy to do.
When we arrived we were early but greeted very well and were told we would be seated asap.
Once we were seated nothing was too much trouble and the service was first class. The food arrived in good time and was very hot and fresh, they were also well within ear shot if anything was needed. Once the meal had finished and I asked for the bill we were all greeted with a free round of drinks. Like I said this is by far the best service I have had since before COVID.
