Cannot be anything but 5 star. Been a big fan of Mimosa for years so thought I would take my partner here as she loves Asian food. The décor is breathtaking throughout, such a great atmosphere. The food isn't cheap obviously but more than worth the cost in terms of Quality and quantity!! Shared Sushi platter to start, I'm not a massive sushi fan but it has converted me. My partner had the fish curry which again was excellent and I had the Korean beef short rib, which in truth was too big of a portion... Not that I'm complaining. Friendly staff also and the facilities exceptionally clean and tidy. Sat in the bar after our meal and had a drink as we didn't want to leave :). Will 100% be recommending to friends and coming again in 2022.

I took my friend here for their 8 course tasting menu and the good things about it was: • The venue was very beautifully designed, the blossom trees are a lovely addition to the decor. • The service was great. The negatives were: • The food was just OK • Our next course kept on being served to us before we had finished the previous course. • The food was not served in the order of the set menu. Usually a tasting menu is set out in a certain way to take the taster on a journey. For the price that we paid, I would have expected more.

The food was very tasty. The drinks were very good. The ambiance is amazing, i loved all the decorations. The staff is very friendly. However, the service was relatively slow. We sat down at 9:15 and received our food an hour later. The place was packed because it was a Friday night. I just wish the food would come a bit quicker or at least we could have been informed that there will be a delay. I would definitely come back👌🏻

10/10 absolutely unreal venue. We went for drinks on the terrace, they were unreal and looked beautiful. The venue is also decorated lovely. We then went downstairs to the main restaurant for some sushi, was lovely. Staff were so accommodating and friendly, will be back.

Decor and ambience are lovely. Food was well presented and tasty. Cocktails were lovely too. Took a star off cos they didn't have scallops available but only told me when I tried to order. Also I had 2 taster plates and friend had steak from the grill. We requested it all to come at once and were told it would come as and when it's ready. I feel like they could have cooked it so it was all ready at the same time but that wasn't offered so mine came first which was a bit strange.

This is a classy looking restaurant with a really nice bar area and equally impressive restaurant area too. The food is really nice, you are best to order different items from the menu to build a nice amount of choice. The chilli chips are delicious. Medium price range for a restaurant of this calibre. Came here with a friend of mine for a dinner date. It was a very beautiful atmosphere with lovely interior. We really liked the way everything was set up inside. The only downside is it was fairly loud inside at the time we went so it was difficult to hear each other speaking but other than that, it’s a really cute date spot. For the girls and the lads. I would definitely recommend coming here. 10/10 experience.

Came here after graduation with my family. We impressed by everything we ordered; the penang fish curry and beef rendang curry for mains, and the crispy aubergine and wagyu beef as sides. My parents said the wagyu beef was very tender and they even enjoyed the crispy aubergine, which they would not usually like. We got rose and lychee martinis which were delicious, although I would say the lychee martini from Bambu is slightly better. The atmosphere and interior design were brilliant, but we had to ask for the music to be turned down because the acoustics were not great. I probably would only come back on a special occasion as it's quite expensive, but definitely was worth coming for the experience. We were served by a girl named Leah who did an excellent job. A very memorable meal.

I really liked the layout of the restaurant it was very pretty and clean. The people who worked there were really nice too. I really enjoyed my sushi, and my friend really enjoyed his aswell. It is not the best sushi I’ve ever had but it was still really good. The sizes of the sushi was really good and it was very filling. I would definitely go again. I would also recommend going outside since it’s very pretty out there and they have a nice mirror. Also the bathrooms were really nice aswell.

Overall, it was okay. I definitely feel there are better alternatives around Colchester being cheaper too. Primary reason to come here out of all other restaurants would be its place being really nice. The food is mediocre and, service is rather poor. For instance, we've had a group birthday so we had to book two separate books otherwise we would have to be subject to a taster meal menu which not everyone in a group was interested. So, we have been told to via phone when arriving we have to ask them to put us together. Yet, the response we unfortunately received was that it cannot be done due to the system. It's ambiguity, and furthermore obvious copout answer basically prevented our group for socialising each other considering we were either side of the restaurant. Continuing, the service in the kitchen and I presume managers need to be improved. We were told as soon as the food is done - rather when everyone's food is done. For instance before my starter arrived - my friend already received her starter and main. Whilst almost forgetting, when we were seated - we weren't offered any drinks and had to wait 20-30 minutes before even being offered. Very disappointing. I have provided photos of food I myself ordered, highlight was desert considering it was cute however as described it felt very mediocre.

Came here for some beverages after work with some friends. Great atmosphere reasonable pricing and incredible atmosphere. The restaurant was clean and tidy throughout. Staff are attentive and provide extremely quick service. Unlike most places, not only do they clean the glasses (obviously) but they also then proceed to rinse them again infront of you to give you even more peace of mind. Thoroughly recommended.

Visited here as an evening out with my husband and it is a really beautiful restaurant. The decor is really stunning and the different dishes we tried were really lovely too. We liked the choice of foods to try so the tapas worked well. I wouldn't say the food was amazing but it was nice. The clientele definitely was not for us as they tended to be very young and loud in general. I have to say I agree with other reviews about the clientele. Although I would go back during the day time or for afternoon tea as perhaps that time will attract a different crowd. Service was very disjointed as we had a different waitress for most dishes and one just slapped the food on the table as she walked past and said 'enjoy' which got a bit annoying and felt quite rude by the third dish she served us. I appreciate staff are busy but just putting down the food with a bit of care and consideration would not go amiss. I do feel it is worth going just to enjoy the decor and tasting the different dishes. I would highly recommend the sharing dessert it is presented beautifully.

Had a fabulous night at my friends birthday. The food was incredibly tasty and a good selection too. However the service was most definitely the best service I have received. Tejas was fantastic. He went through the menu with us, checked for allergies, gave helpful tips on popular choices, was very happy and approachable. Despite the staff being extremely busy they were quick and efficient.

Great food (Asian) and drinks in a beautiful restaurant, with great service. So different to anywhere else around Colchester, felt like we were in London or somewhere :) Expensive, but definitely worth it for a treat - we went for a birthday. Can't wait to go back! - Been here four times now, always delicious food and great service from friendly staff. Lots of choices on the menu and seems to be changed up a bit, regularly. Love the decoration, definitely the fanciest place to eat in Colchester. Can't wait to come back!

If you like to be amongst a mainly young TOWIE-style dressed up crowd in stylish surrounding then you will love this place. The decor is smart, airy, modern and the lighting is nice. The staff are friendly and obliging. It’s popular and booking is probably wise especially if you want to eat here. The menu I found really confusing (it’s one of those small plates places which isn’t my sort of thing). At first glance the menu seems a reasonable price but if you need four to six plates each, it can get pricey. However the food is delicious. Vegans will find a few things suitable on the menu but there wasn’t much in the way of imaginative desserts for a vegan or plant based eaters. If you were looking for somewhere to take someone on an impressive date, this would be a great place to go.

Shocked at the bad reviews! Stunning 😍 and the food was delicious, our waitress was the lovely lady with beautiful pink hair and amazing tattoos and she was fabulous. This place is gorgeous. We came for my birthday yesterday before the westlife concert at castle Park and it was beautiful. The food was sooooo good I can't actually describe how perfect they got it! Will definitely be coming back!

Service, atmosphere, drinks & decor were all fantastic but the food was such a let down.. we had to send several items back as they were inedible. The wagyu steak was poor quality and the sushi plater only had 3 types of sushi on it to give a couple of examples.. We explained our troubles with the staff & when given the bill found no discount or compensation. Wouldn’t recommend & Wont be returning. Such a shame as the building and interior are stunning.

We booked last minute as our original plans didn't pan out. From the beginning to the end we received excellent customer service. Covid secure - we had to provide our contact details and our temperature was taken before we were shown to our table. The decor is gorgeous 😍 and the food was great. Everything was very reasonably priced. Can't wait to return!

Absolutely superb food, we had freshly made sushi, thick filled duck rolls, pulled beef, lobster rolls ...the garnish and sauces were delicious too. The dessert was colossal and over a foot long! No expense has been spared on the venue, and they have created a very unique restaurant, bringing nature inside. Lots of different seating areas too, plus a couple of outdoor areas, a huge bar, and private dining available. Will certainly go back.

Japanese restaurant decorated with natural stones and timbers to a very high standard. It's very easy on the eye in here. We went on a Saturday night and it was packed out. We had a table booked and were shown to our table quickly although it was so close to the other customers we were almost knocking elbows, I didn't like that much. The service was shockingly slow, I mean dreadful. My partner ordered a drink and I had one too and I managed to finish mine before hers came out so I thought she had ordered without me, I'd been to the loo in the mean time and thought she'd maybe ordered then but it was just a VERY slow service. The food was much the same thing, incredibly slow. It's pricey too, too pricey really I can think of other places where you can get very attentive staff and a lovely ambience with great food for the same money. I will be back but not in a hurry and probably not to eat.

I booked a table with 2 work friends as two of us had birthdays we ordered the 6 tasting menu one of my friends is vegetarian so she ordered that option food took a really long time to come out we waited a good 2hrs plus for all the dishes and myself and one friend had to share the food and its very very small amounts you get my vegetarian friend was given a meat dish in one of the tasters and we had to complain which I thought was not on our whole 6 taster menu took 3 hrs to have in the end its very hot inside the restaurant we was really looking forward to going here for the first time but will not be rushing back not great value for money and very long waiting times for wrong food and with two off you eating from the same bowel isn't fun very expensive

The 4 of us really enjoyed our visit, although it was a little more than we’d usually pay for a meal, the ambience, music, food & attentive staff, made it a lovely treat, for my husband & I, to celebrate our 33 years of marriage. I was in my powered wheelchair & they had a ramp to get me down the steps at the entrance, which was great fun, & seated us where it was convenient for me, as I can feel conscious if my chair is in anyone’s way. So we plan to return, when we’ve saved some more pennies, to celebrate another special occasion, hopefully one day soon. Thank you.

The dinner was nice but the table where we sit was very close to the tables next to us. I ordered a side to eat with my food and it came to the table after I already had the food, so I ate rice as a dessert. We asked for the bill and it took them 10 minutes to come over with the card machine.

OK Food, Soulless Atmosphere. My wife and I visited the Pavilion (26/10/21) to celebrate an anniversary and we were hoping for good things. This was not the case. When you enter, there's no clear or obvious location where a member of staff would greet you. We wandered in and someone came over. Don't get me wrong, this place is fantastic to look at but that's about as good as it gets. We asked for a large table as it wasn't particularly busy and the guy said, "not really that's for 6 people", I point out the obvious being that it wasn’t busy and he agreed. The staff at this place are either all miserable by nature or just dislike their jobs, intensely! Everyone seems very stressed, unconcerned and lack that friendly touch you need when working at a restaurant. We settled in a ordered some food and wine. When the wine arrived, they simply dropped it on the table and left, we didn’t even get to try it first. Turns out the bottle picked was disgusting. The food came and was OK, nothing compared to other places we’ve eaten at in Colchester. Overall, the food and service were dreadful and didn’t warrant the £140+ bill at the end. If you’re after sushi and Japanese style food, then avoid this place and try other two, less commercial, more inviting, and friendly places in the town centre. I score it 3/10. As a bonus on the building, everything seemed very clean, and the toilets flawless.

Beautiful setting with cherry blossom trees and fairly lights, excellent service. Fun and unusual menu. Love the sushi tasting plater and the desert plater to share. The steak with miso butter was amazing! Wish we had visited sooner, we tried it on the eat out deal, excellent value. Pavillion are extending the eat out deal into September, so we will definitely be back!

Lovely surroundings, great outdoor space. Service was good, didn't have to wait long for food, which was excellent. Manager personally decanted and served wine which was a nice touch. Maybe a touch pricey but got what we paid for, no complaints there. The dessert menu included cigars, I'm a non smoker myself, but thought this set this place apart from other similar establishments. Disappointed. After reading other reviews I would probably go again but not in such a large group. Food wasn’t great at all my quid was so rubbery I couldn’t even pick it up on my fork and my duck was so tough I couldn’t cut it and my spring roll was rock hard. Pretty sure the sea bass other friends ordered wasn’t even sea bass! Also our waitress was very rude. Lovely restaurant and quick service (although we pre ordered so there’s really no excuse if it wasn’t) however for the amount we paid I was disappointed.

I’m fortunate enough to live a short walk from the most beautiful establishment in Colchester, Essex - that is Pavilion. The riverside location is stunning! The decor and overall quality is hard to describe unless you visit and see for yourself. There is no expense spared on the highest level of quality and the attention to detail is second to none. The food menu is amazing and the range of different cuisines and flavours from all over the world is something very special indeed. The service from the team is mind blowing, to say they go out of their way for you is a massive understatement. Majeik the manager is so amazingly welcoming and great fun to be around - he is much more than professional and a true asset to the company and it’s reputation. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever been made to feel so comfortable - any where else I’ve visited. I highly recommend Pavilion to anyone and everyone. There is no better place to visit in Colchester, Essex for a delicious meal, cocktails and a fantastic evening out with beautiful surroundings and the very best service in town! Bravo!!

A very attractive modern venue. Well stocked cocktail bar. The acustics of the building make it incredibly noisy so not ideal for conversation. A very pleasing wine list!! This was the first restaurant to do a foyer COVID-19 temperature check which surely much be a no brainer for all public facing businesses and yet this was the first we've encountered. Bravo. Very enjoyable meal and drinks to celebrate a Family Birthday and if you are looking for a special meal this is the place to go in the CO7 area. In was very lucky to be taken to the Pavilion for my Birthday by my beautiful girlfriend,for the very first time.The perfect restaurant,food & of course the company too😊 The decour was outstanding.I would describe it as a top high end London restaurant.I had the Thai fish curry & the brownie,of which both are the best I've EVER tasted.So compliments to chef and kitchen staff and also the waiters and waitresses,who do an amazing job. If I had to find fault and this is very picky,I'd say on the weekend there is a bar & DJ & no physical walls blocking out the music which was slightly too loud when your trying to enjoy a romantic evening.But this would not stop me coming back & I'd highly recommend this restaurant to the world. Excellent job 10/10 my new favourite restaurant.

One of the best restaurants in town! I'm so happy they've started doing take aways during lockdown - they quality is just as good as eating in the restaurant. Definitely worth driving down to collect it.

First time here at this restaurant. It was a Saturday night and therefore very busy, so booking is recommended. Quite a good menu with lots of Asian dishes. Typical price for alcohol is about £4-£5 and average price for a starter, main and dessert is about £35 to £40 per person. A mainly young crowd and the bar area was extremely busy when we left at about 9.30pm. I would recommend a meal here anytime but if you prefer a quieter surrounding when eating, then a midweek visit would be better.

The most beautiful venue and interior I've seen in the area. I was recently here with a large group for an event where we ordered the afternoon tea, and if that's what you're looking to order I wouldn't bother. An upscale, London feel in the heart of Colchester. The bar is a great place to relax and drink with friends and the restaurant is reasonably priced with great tasting food. But when it's busy (Friday/Saturday nights for example), it is so loud you can't have a conversation, and the service is extremely slow (45 minutes just to place our order!)... A bit pricey too, especially as they encourage people to take many dishes, which is not necessary as the portions are quite big. I'll go back, not at the weekend though!

I've been to Pavilion with my girlfriend for a Sunday breakfast. The place inside is very nice and particular. There were few people, so it was also pleasent and quite. However, we didn't really enjoyed the food. My gf had some eggs and beacon, which was meh. We shared pancakes, and again they were nothing special. I had eggs royal, and I find them okish. So we were definitely not impressed about the food. On top of that, my gf ordered some juice which never arrived but was billed. Nevertheless, the staff was very kind, and they also offered us two juices to make up for the mistake. Overall, the place looks nice but I wouldn't suggest it for a breakfast. In town there are many better alternatives.

This is Colchester's classiest restaurant. No expense has been spared on the decor, the waiters/waitresses and barmen are on the ball, and the food is up there: tasty and beautifully presented. This was our second visit with the first their opening week so being from the industry know it wouldn't be fair to pick too much first time around. Love the idea, love the sharing concept and the interior is very grand for Colchester. If only they could deliver on the quality of the restaurants they have modelled their interior and concept on. Ordered sushi and the Dragon and Spider Rolls were great however if the menu said that they'd bastardised the salmon roll with cream cheese I wouldn't have ordered it. Also for the price of the sushi their Nori (seaweed) is a cheaper lower quality than expected. The padron peppers with togarashi were a great little starter. Salmon skewers from the robata were over cooked (as was our salmon with miso on our first visit) and heavily 'caramelised' on one side but the sauce was nice. Rock shrimp tempura was good and the mango sauce nice on its own but personally not the best sauce for it. However the chilli garlic prawn skewered sauce was probably the best sauce of the night! The prawns however looked anemic and didnt show any signs of being grilled. To be honest we compared photos of the first time we ordered them and they looked a lot more impressive and definitely tasted a lot better the first time round! The tenderstem broccoli was nice however not quite sure what the sauce it was swimming in was doing to compliment or enhance its flavour. Ordered the desert island for 2 which was magnificent. Great presentation the yuzu tart and pistachio ice cream were fought over as they were so good! The chocolate fondant was delicious and if I'm being a picky chef then would say it could have oozed more but it was so good! Food overall is ok. It could do with some fine tweaking and would benefit from a chef with a good knowledge of the style of food and an understanding of the ingredients used to just fine tune it into something that would come close to the restaurants they have got their inspiration from. Service was better than our first experience. Wine poured and glasses filled. I was very impressed with a tall male waiter with an Eastern European accent who was very attentive to everyone as he walked round and that he poured soy sauce which sounds a bit weird but coming from the industry these are all good signs of service. The only thing that let it down was that nothing was explained enough. With ingredients like miso, tobiko, and the different sauces if you don't know what it is you'd be none the wiser when you leave. It's a new style of Food for Colchester it's hard enough to understand the sharing concept let alone the specialist ingredients. I love the style of food very much and want this place to succeed so I can get good food locally. It needs fine tuning, skill and knowledge to be as outstanding as it's décor. The Pavilion is ok but it could be great and is one to watch. Definitely worth the visit!

WOW, the Pavilion is incredible, you almost can't believe this is in Colchester. The decor is studding, great friendly service and some of the best food I've had. I wouldn't say it's any more pricy than going to a good chain restaurant but the quality is much higher. I'd compare it to places like Milsoms and Grain.
