Absolutely faultless from start to finish, especially as we booked a table last minute. The food was fresh and delicious, with an impressive selection of gluten free, dairy free and vegan/veggie options. Every member of staff was friendly, helpful and attentive. Can't praise it enough, we will definitely be back.

I haven’t been to Zizi for a while but I’m glad I did. The staff are so friendly! The food was really good we shared a prawn starter I can’t remember what I was called but it was delicious. I had pizza my partner had calzone and we were given extra plates as the staff knew we wanted to share. The meal was so tasty and reasonably priced. I will definitely be back!

Excellent family meal at Zizzi this afternoon. Service was excellent, Ellise managed this effectively ensuring our table of 15 all received their food timely and at the same time. The food was delicious with a good variety and well presented. Nothing was to much, clear gluten free options for the little ones. All staff were friendly and welcoming. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it, with it being the first time for some…they were pleasantly surprised by the standard . The Pina colada dessert was a big hit too!!! Will 100% be returning and highly recommend 👍

I was a bit skeptical about the place, as being Italian myself, I have a very high standard for Italian food. However, I was welcomed by a very friendly staff, who checked up on us every so often. Service provided is just what you would want from a restaurant. I assumed it would take a while for them to prepare my meal. However, my meal was ready before I could even finish the starter. I ordered cheesy garlic breads for starter. Have to say it was amazing, one portion is enough to share between three of us. Crispy with soft and cheesy taste, although I love extra cheese with my food, so a bit more wouldn't hurt... Again that's just personal preference. For main course, the primavera pizza was amazing. Again thin and crispy, perfect amount of sauce and mozzarella and enough toppings including black olives and spinach, to give a balanced flavour and a surprisingly amazing taste. As an Italian myself, I would say this is one of the best Italian style pizza I have had in the UK. Only complain here would be the goats cheese. There was a bit too much of it, I do love extra cheese, however, it felt like taste of other ingredients were overshadowed by it. I just had a hot chocolate, which was just like any other hot chocolate, nothing to special. Although there were a huge range of drink to choose from, I decided to stick with a normal Italian soft drink The presentation was top notch, again pretty amazing (you can see from the pictures) Overall, definitely worth checking this place out, easily one of the best Italian restaurants I have been to. With some minor tweeks, it can be as good as a restaurant in Italy.

Walking in, the place was quite light and the tables were spread out quite a lot. Good music, but it seemed to be connected to someone's phone and kept going quiet. Nice servers who were polite, but they seemed understaffed. The food was quite nice, but not huge portions. I was there with one other person using clubcard vouchers. The rainbow Lasagna came out cold but after complaining they offered to make a fresh one. We just wanted it reheated so they did that. The desserts were also very tasty but not huge portion sizes. Unfortunately had to knock a star off as they needed another server in there and I nearly fell asleep waiting for the bill. Would go there again on vouchers but not with cash.

When I am craving for pasta with Sprits, Zizzi always comes to my head. This place is clean and big, so if you are with a group planning to have a dinner, always consider here. Also their pizza taste authentic italian. Service is also superb, nothing I can say negative on this restaurant just its located in town center and no free parking :/

Visited on the saturday of Mother’s Day weekend with a table for 8. Considering it was one of the busiest days for restaurants, there was 2 people serving all the tables upstairs and downstairs. Thankfully we had a lovely waiter called Sam who kept our Mother’s Day meal a lovely one. The poor guy was run off his feet but still found time to be attentive and helpful. Just felt really sorry for them that there was so few staff on. We were there for nearly 4 hours to eat a 3 course meal! The food was lovely and the place was clean. But it’s not fair on your staff to leave them having to work with so few staff!

Lovely food ..just seem in a hurry to serve us ...as we finished starter they were there with the main and had to ask for more cutlery and napkin as we had used the original for our starter..people next to us there food arrived within a second after the main ...they cleared my husbands plate as soon as knife and fork hit his plate ..and before I had even finished mine ....I did ask them to give me a few minutes before I ordered dessert...then as I finished they ask if we wanted anything else as we said no thank you the bill arrived same time as the card machine ...had to ask can you give me a second while I checked the bill ...such a shame ..not sure what time they were closing this was all before 9pm ..If they were closing early they should have mentioned this before they sat us down .

I wouldn’t normally leave a review but Sam was an absolutely fantastic host, despite being short staffed on a very busy weekend he made sure that we didn’t feel neglected and was extremely polite and friendly. He provided us with fantastic service throughout our visit and is a credit to Zizzi. Look forward to visiting again soon

Food was good. Pizzas were delicious but Slightly undercooked arancini which was odd considering it looked like there were to many chefs for one kitchen. Our waitress who was mixed raced was a diamond. She checked back on us, made sure everyone was happy and everything okay. 5* service. Overall, not a bad experience. Will be returning.

I think the Tiramisu is sheer perfection in this place. Drinks are expensive, so we usually stick to water, but the food is amazing and I like the way it is served. I recommend pizza made as rustica, it's so delicious. The children's menu is fab too.

This restaurant has been one of my favourites for as long as it has been open. Went on Friday 14th January and it has slipped in quality. Management needs to tighten up both the presentation of staff and the overall quality of the dining experience. In a nutshell, The whole offer was down market.

The food is good and I think if you are in a small party you won't have any issues. Unfortunately the service is not great. We were sat at about 2 and didn't finish until gone 5. The surprising part was that the food was pre-ordered! Zizzi knew our arrival time and what food they were arriving and yet the service was terribly slow. Another small complaint is that the awesome pizzas are served on wooden trays that have not been maintained, and so they are literally falling apart. If you can't wash the wooden boards without the glue separating, I suggest you avoid wooden boards, regardless of how pretty they look on day one!

We visited a couple of weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The restaurant was fully wheelchair accessible, staff friendly and helpful, and the food good value. We enjoyed the lively atmosphere. Portions were a good size, which I always appreciate. In fact my starter of garlic bread with stilton, was almost too generous, and I struggled to finish it. Another time we will share it! A good experience overall, and we shall go there again next time we come to Colchester

Beautiful restaurant on a shabby high street. There is something quite aesthetic and calming about the place. We were seated by a window at dusk and it was extremely pleasant with the gentle breeze but without the blinding light. The staff were lovely and efficient as were the chefs who cooked a delicious pizza very quickly to perfection. No complaints whatsoever with the food!

A great all round experience. Only one niggle and that was our table was quite near to the door so when it was opened it was draughty. Had a birthday party there. Other groups were also having celebrations. Brought our own cake and they were very gracious about it. My friend and I visited Zizzi's last night and it was a great experience. We received wonderful service from a very attentive waitress and the staff there were very friendly. I tried the new vegan pizza which was delicious! The only reason I am not giving the full 5 stars is due to the fact that the toppings (which I had to pay extra for) were incredibly measly. Other than that, it was a great experience and I would definitely go back.

The welcome was great. We came in for dinner, 2 adults and 2 children. The restaurant had only reopened this week post covid19 lockdown. The atmosphere was relaxed and all staff very friendly and helpful. There is a sanitising station on arrival and tables are spread out. Our food was ordered and came very quickly. The meal tasted great. I had the chicken pasta dish and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our waitress was amazing and worked really well under the new covid safe condition. Went there on Tuesday 21/11/2017 around 3:15pm. First time ever to walk in Zizzi, ordered the pizza which was delicious, the chef did a great job. But the waiter was so awkward, never smiled, never checked how we found the pizzas. Then when we went to pay again he didn't ask if we enjoyed the food, didn't ask how we'd like to pay, just billed my friends card the full amount with a straight face like he was annoyed to work there. I've been here 3 times now and I can honestly say I've never experienced as rude and obnoxious waitressing in my life than Thursday night when I visited the restaurant. It was our first meal away from the kids in a while! Firstly, we had to wait ages standing at the door to be seated for a pre booked table, we was sat down by the open doors (which were freezing by the way) and then left for quite a while before drink orders were taken, by then we had also decided on food. The waitress comes over, doesn't apologise for the wait (I'm a former waitress with years of experience) and then asks my partner what he would like, he orders cider and she said "what for both of you?"... firstly I'm a big girl I can order for myself and secondly I'm pregnant so no drinking for me. I told her "no, I'm pregnant" she smirked and sarcastically said "uh nice to know" so I told her that obviously I couldn't drink and I would like a raspberry mint cooler. We proceeded to order food and when we had finished talking she just walked away? I cant fault the food or drinks at all. Hence the 3 stars they was incredible! But this waitress was just rude start to finish, wearing open toe shoes and gym leggings to work and leaving each table too long to wait for check up service! So very unprofessional! Another waitress brought over our food and she was wonderful. I think the rude waitresses name was Andrea because thats what was on our receipt. If I ever go back to Zizzis and she is on shift I would make it a point not to be served by her again. She was just appalling.

Went here first about 7 years ago when I moved to Colchester. It was fantastic, and it continued to be over the next few years. Somewhere in 2015 and early this year it lost its way with the customer service aspect. We came across some really rude waitresses and waiters who frankly, it seemed, didn't want us dining there at all. On one particular occasion when we were (finally) seated we ended up getting back up and walking out - the one and only time we have ever done that and we eat out A LOT! This poor, rude service happened on more than one occasion and eventually we decided never to go back and waste our time again. This evening we went back here for the first time in pretty much 2 years. Mainly because I have recently turned vegan and Zizzi's have one of the best vegan offerings out of any of the mainstream high street restaurant chains. Anyway, to cut a long story short, the service was brilliant and the food was amazing, despite it being horrendously busy presumably due to school holidays. I forgot to get the name of the waitress who served us but she was exemplary and for that she received a significant gratuity. Zizzi's Colchester have won me back, for now. My 5 stars are thus based on my most recent experience and it will be updated as and when accordingly. Hope this review was helpful, please like/up vote if or was. Thanks!

The Vegan menu is great I had the margarita and it was amazing, my daughters had different pizza's, so a good choice. The vegan cheese cake was amazing, only moan could have done with a scoop of ice cream.

Zizzi Colchester always provides good food and the atmosphere is generally great. Staff are more often than not very pleasant and helpful. It's not the cheapest restaurant and the mark up on alcohol can be fairly prohibitive but the same could be said I suppose for many chains.

A typical Zizzi's. Very modern inside with high ceilings and an upstairs seating area. Open plan kitchen so you can watch your food being cooked however do try to avoid the small metal seats as they are quite uncomfortable. Aim for a nice wooden one and give your bum a night off too!

I like Zizzi's because it is family-friendly and has a great kids' menu. When you arrive they give your children a pot of crayons and a drawing to colour in. The food is pretty decent, especially the pizza, and the lamb meatballs "al forno" is highly recommended. The only problem is that due to the very high ceiling (think it used to be an auction house or something), the noise level gets pretty high even when it's not even that busy (we went at 5.30pm on a Friday).
