Reviews of The Quicken Tree
M.
Wonderful restaurant with a nice selection of good quality food and drinks, from small bites to bigger meals. Good place to have an event. Lovely big grassy area for kids to play in. At the time we went, there was a bouncy castle, outdoor bar and funhouse. Inside was a small bartop arcade game set to free play with a good selection of old arcade games installed. Will definitely visit again

Very welcoming quirky bar and grill. Car park was packed, altho there was clearly an event conference on so no surprise there.
Pleasant attentive waitress. My gammon was superb, egg frilly but acceptable, chips lovely-dunked in the gravy. My companions had the 2 for 1 chefs pie and were disappointed at how tough the pastry was.
Our meal was finished with scrumptious cheese cake n ice cream. To die for!
All in all. V pleasant lunch/special meal.

Came to the Quicken Tree for lunch before visiting Santa's Grotto this was a last minute decision but boy it was a great one. The service was excellent nothing to much trouble.
The food was tasty, hot, fresh and home made. Big thumbs up. Most definatley will be visiting again.
A. W.
Very well attended classic car and bikes monthly meet. Good weather helped. Burgers and hot dogs too expensive at £5.50 for a cheese burger, no chips.
Nearly £12 for 4 cups of tea in the quicken tree. Very clean loos, very nice restaurant, lovely
Grounds. Food prices for an outdoor meet a let down...

Afternoon tea for 4 via Groupon. The place itself is very nice, nicely decorated and spacious. The afternoon tea came very nicely presented. The cutlery and teacups were dirty, had to wipe everything beforehand. Selection of sandwiches weren't that great. Cakes were nice however one of our guests had an allergy to strawberries and they could not offer a different jam to have with the scones. I have been here for lunch before and I think I preferred that over the afternoon tea.

Good sized carpark, wonderful inside with lots of quirky statues, ornaments, pictures and seating. And set in lovely countryside with water nearby. My friends and I had afternoon tea with sandwiches, cake and tea. Four good portions of cake each that was lovely and moist and rather delicious.
C. W.
Great view's, good food, lot's to do and very friendly staff.
A. D. L.
Had drinks and pizza last night. Food beautiful. Staff, 3 ladies, absolutely first class service. 5 stars all the way. Update 9th Nov 2022. 6 of us visited tonight for drinks and food. Menu changed and not for the better. New chef has decided he needs to change a good menu to stamp his authority. No bar food or lighter bites no sharers. I would have spent in excess of £150 tonight, left after 1 drink. Menu is fine for 2 on a Saturday night, no good for family and friends. Really got it wrong.
D. D.
Visited to do the dinosaur adventure. Was really good
Other things on site. Bar nice but very limited selection of cask drinks lager lager lager Guinness cider one pale ale. Didn't eat here but menu looked reasonable.prices above average. Rooms /tents for hire. Boating lake. Land train cafe. Archery. Airgins

Brought my mother for afternoon tea yesterday for her Birthday. Absolutely lovely . Good service , food lovely. Lemonade expensive £7 for 2 pints of lemonade(for spritzers)
T. B.
Amazing food. Wonderful staff. A slight hitch with my order dinner BECAUSE Chef said "that's NOT going out" Now THATS 'oh yeah'
We'll be there again. and most likely again!
If you have the opportunity and don't take advantage take advantage then more food you!

Experienced the bar and grill section followed by the Childrens bouncy castle and Wacky Wagon.
Food quality and portion size for the price is brilliant. Quality ingredients. The ice cream was possibly homemade, also really good quality.
We walked and explored the grounds and even though most of it was closed/not being used, it was just a lovely place to explore.
Our daughter loved the Wacky Wagon. We even had a go ourselves. One flaw was that it hadn’t been touched since the 90s. It needed someone to go through it for safety. Plastic mirror was broken but this wasn’t a danger just something that had been missed.
Bouncy castle wasn’t large, so if it was a busy day, the kids may not get a look in. Suitable for 5 kids roughly.
Overall, staff were lovely, food was great and this place was well worth a visit. I’ll be back again.

Loved our day out to see santa with the kids. We were really spoilt for choice at the activities on offer. Good memories of our wedding day at the Heart of England conference centre 9 years ago. Really enjoyed it.

Went for a special birthday treat for my granddaughters, and our waitress Jodie made our evening, she went above and beyond to make the meal perfect, her enthusiasm and personality shone through, she certainly deserves a huge acknowledgement..
Food amazing as always, and we love this place, but she made our night...
P. B.
Excellent place to take your kids and enjoy yourself too. A friend of mine introduced me to this place recently and wished I had known about it earlier in the season, as I certainly would have visited more often. It has lots of things for the little ones and a place to relax and have a drink for the big ones, would highly recommend
C. M.
Absolutely gorgeous food, stunning place to visit, such a sight to be seen, everywhere you look there's something new and wonderful. Very quirky most definitely worth a trip out.
P. F.
Went for afternoon tea with a Groupon voucher and found it really worth the full price. The most delicious scones, cakes and sandwiches I've ever had. Pimm's were a nice complement as well. The place is very beautiful and has a lake with paddle boats. The cherry of the cake was the restaurant's big dog who took us for a walk around the lake and sat beside myself to take a picture lol. The smell of barbecue made me want to go back with friends for a Sunday lunch.
m. s.
We went on Sunday booked a table in advance. Table wasn't ready but that wasn't problem we had a drink. We ordered food with 2 drinks waited 20 min still no drinks so had to ask again. Food was Lovely and can't fault that. We had desert which again was lovely. What let's it down is the service. No organisation at all we was asked 4 times by different people did we want desert as none of the staff appeared to know who was doing what. We then waited 15 mins to pay the bill. Food excellent, service very unorganized. But staff were pleasant.

This place is really lovely.
Warm clean and friendly.
Car park is large.
We went for a winter's afternoon tea with mulled wine it was lovely a selection of sandwiches with a small cup of soup and a selection of cakes and a pot of tea witch was lovely.
Went down a treat on a cold morning.
The atmosphere was lovely calm and relaxing.
Staff were so friendly.
The bar room is really nice with the lovely seating area and the tables with the light is are amazing.
The quicken tree is at the Heart of England conference centre and has loads to see and do a good day out for the kids and a snack and bar area for the adults.
l. d.

Discovered this bar and grill by chance. Absolutely fantastic food. Meat grilled to perfection. Great vibe. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Lovely views of greenery from where we sat. Inside and outside dining and a more chilled area too. Will be visiting again.
S. S.
Staff were lovely wish I could remember the lady's name who served us. The food was great too.
D. S.
Had the most beautiful afternoon tea, fabulous food, lovely atmosphere and ambience, Vicky and Peter were amazing, nothing too much trouble. Our friends 60th birthday, they allowed us to go early to take balloons, provided us with table cloths all ready for us to place sprinkles and favors on the table, very helpful and attentive and no rush for us to leave. Highly recommended and we will visit again quite soon. Just want to thank them for an amazing and fabulous afternoon 🥰
S.
Fabulous service and afternoon tea. Thanks to all staff involved. Definitely will be going back.
C. D.
We just celebrated my husbands 80th birthday with a small gathering in the Cedar Room. We had the finger buffet which was really lovely. There was plenty of food and everything was very good. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to hire a small room for a celebration. The staff are very good and helpfull. Had a thoroughly enjoyable 4 hours. Thank you .
D. R.
Impulse decision while driving home to find somewhere to eat, a quick phone call and sorted us a table, a very nice meal.

Friendly staff and good food
I. L.
Extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with our food we got. Service was great, which it should be when we were the only people there… burger and chips were nice but fish and chips, for £16, was quality I could have gotten at whetherspoons. Wont be visiting again unless it’s for just a drink
A. D.
Absolutely superb Afternoon Cream Tea . Food was amazing and the staff were so lovely . Highly Recommended . Thankyou for a memorable experience yet again .
H. H.

I. O.
Very nice lunch the Turkey was superb and the service was exceptional, staff were very attentive.
S. G.
We went for a Pimms afternoon tea, which was a Christmas present for my mum-in-law. The food was very good, 4 different fillings in really fresh sandwiches, the cakes and scones were light as a feather and so fresh. We had tea and coffee and a lovely glass of pimm's. The restaurant was really busy, and the lady who served us was very efficient and friendly. The restaurant is lovely and modern and the views from the window are outstanding. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
D. F.
Lovely place. Nice and smart inside. Fab outside too. Plenty of space to feel comfortable in these hard covid times. Lots of open grass area. Looks like children and dogs welcome. Fun Islands on the lake with attractions to spot. Fair size car park
P. T.

Ordered pulled pork burger and 10oz steak, pint of cola and pint of smooth, £41, think was overcharged!!
Burger was great, steak was not 10oz (smaller) but cooked to requirements. The fries sadly cooked to a shell.
I. N.
Best outdoor place to take children to for pirate ride and dinosaur adventure.
K. C.
My friend and I have just returned from the best ever afternoon tea we have ever experienced. We meet for afternoon teas regularly and the tea at the Quicken Tree is the best we have ever had. the staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble, the teapot was never empty and they are efficient, polite and friendly without being intrusive. The sandwiches, scones and cakes are superb. We bought enough food home for tea ! Thank you for a lovely afternoon

Lovely rural setting with loads of space for kids to run around.

Really lovely surroundings and the restaurant is quirky and cool. The starters were really nice, but unfortunately after that the food was just bland and disappointing. The staff were really pleasant too, but waitresses disappeared for ages and certainly weren't attentive. Overall, I wouldn't rush back.
R. O.

P. P.
First time here, food and service was wery good eventhough there was a large party event at the same time. Will try again.
P. D.
I could see a lot of money has been spent on the place, however the food is just OK the starters were far better than the main I wouldn't rush back
M. W.
Quirky sort of place but well worth a visit. I've been there for lunch (just adults )and the food was excellent. Also a good place to take children in the summer for a drink in the garden. Huge grounds and excellent play area for the kids. Also do corporate days but I have no experience of these. Similarly not yet tried their functions (like Christmas party) but they look promising.
B. A.

G. B.
The place is absolutely gorgeous, nice and very clean, however the food, omg, went there first time, ordered caesar's salad.absolutely disgusting, soaked in supermarket sauce, and the croutons rock hard.second time there, ordered Portuguese chicken.big chuns of dried chicken, very bland seasoned with piri piri sauce.the baby burger was too bad ,we had to return it,but ended up paying for it because the professionalism is just zero,I work in hospitality and I know when the customer returns a dish you ask if you can swap with something rlse, but nobobody bothered ,so not going to eat there ever again.
R. E.

Disappointing, food was ok, patio tables could do with a clean before seating guests, music turned up half way through dinner to accommodate garden guests too loud in patio area, dog allowed to roam around restaurant and diners very off putting.
C. H.
Fantastic atmosphere excellent food well worth a visit

A. T.
This was my first visit for a family members birthday, very nice place in a lovely location
A. P.
Best food ever. Never fails to produce the perfect steak at a competitive price. Ambience and setting perfect. Just love it.
A. B.
Steak and fish and chips was good but the service was poor. I got the gyro which I don’t recommend. It was a Monday at 12.30 and we had to wait a few minutes to be seated, wait an hour to get our bread starter and 25 minutes for the main. Nobody else seemed to be waiting. We were sat at the back of the restaurant so we may have been forgotten about. They apologised about the delay and because I brought it up they took £10 off the bill which was nice of them. Good view and food but shame about the slow service we experienced.
K. P.

Lovely venue, green grass all around friendly service. It has bar for drinks and eating area both inside and out.
M. A.
What a great setting but the service was poor, staff were friendly and doing there best but totally under staffed, the owner Stephen Hammon was staggering drunk and shouting at staff in front of customers, felt quite sorry for them. Food was good when arrived.
L. A.
Lovely winter afternoon tea. Lovely staff, delicious food and very nice toilets (they are often a deciding factor in a re-visit)

The food was over cooked and for the price, it was very steep. Unless the prices are lowered and the chef changed, I wouldn't go back or recommend this place. Sorry, but true!

We visited for the Winter Pimms afternoon tea. Overall would highly recommend.
Firstly, the restaurant is nicely decorated with a variety of seating options and nice views over the lake.
The food was great - the sandwiches were lovely, as we're the cakes and scones. Definitely don't eat before you go! Tea was kept topped up.
The service was excellent. Possibly the most friendly and hospitable service we have ever had. We had a lovely chat with our waitress who seemed to genuinely enjoy what she does. Really refreshing.
Highly recommend especially with the Groupon!

We had a really lovely afternoon tea with Pimms afterwards. It was a really great deal from Groupon.
We asked if there was a possibility of meat free sandwiches, but only asked at the last minute. The vegetarian sandwiches were particularly delicious and we forgot to thank the chef for them and forgot to say how delicious they were and how grateful we were!
The scones were so light and delicious too , as were the cakes! .. we had a great afternoon ..
We even had a second pot of tea and coffee! ..
The staff were very nice ..
So, thank you for a really lovely afternoon tea!

Cant ever complain as always AWESOME

Had a lovely Sunday roast yesterday, the waitress Shannon was absolutely brilliant, chatty efficient and got my wife a piece of cheese cake with a sparkler when she realised it was her birthday. The only suggestion would be a better variety of vegetables, and more specific on the menu what type and how many per person, that would give the diner opportunity to order extra as a side dish
J. R.
Celebrated a 21st birthday meal for the family .....cant fault the meal, staff or the VIP area....a good time had by all :-D

Winter afternoon tea sounded a bit different & at under £13 it looked like a idea. Hubby & I went today. Plenty of parking, though when we looked for tge disabled parking there was a transit parked across 3 of the 4 spaces. The 4th space might have been ok for a Smart car but not a normal sized car. Fortunately there were other normal spaces close to the entrance. You need to look for & follow the sogns for the Quicken Tree but it is easy enough to find. Loos are on the way into the restaurant. Jake looked after us & wad very friendly & efficient. We were seated by a window so had a nice view across the grounds. Tea & coffee are served in pots along with a jug of milk. I got about 3 cups of tea from my pot. You are asked if you do want the mulled wine. We did & it was very nice & warming. We had an espresso sized cup of creamy mushroom soup. I didn't drink it as I'm allergic to them but hubby said the mushroom soup was very nice. A selection of sandwiches & cakes was served including warmed scones with jam & cream. All of the food was really tasty & of good quality. There's a lovely relaxed atmosphere here & though we were only in there about an.hour it was a nice relaxing experience. We would defo go again.

Frist time going We went on aTuesday, apparently they change their menu every week so this week was quite disappointing nothing really special on the menu, but decided to go for the mushroom starter that was very nice then had a chilli cheese hotdog which wasn't nice at all the bread was very dry and the chilli was way over cooked! Pudding delicious. Would go again but in no rush to go back. I'd check the menu the day before you go.

I brought a Groupon voucher fr my sister in law's 65th birthday as she loves afternoon teas. It was lovely the staff were really friendly.
Unfortunately the sandwiches were not to MY liking so l said l didn't like them with the dressing on. They immediately said that was no problem and went to get me some more fresh ones without dressing they were lovely.
The cakes were extremely nice too but couldn't eat them all so they put them in a bag to bring home. It was a lovely experience.
Would recommend t anyone that loves afternoon teas. Thank you staff again for being so helpful.

Booked afternoon tea for a 80th birthday treat for four people plus a toddler. It was all just ok nothing outstanding. We felt a little forgotten due to a big christening party. The food was scarce on the sandwich front but their was an abundance of cakes, which all looked lovely but were tasteless, not sure whether we had scones or rock cakes and couldn't decide what the accompanying cream was. We had to ask for hot drink top ups. I wouldn't go as far as to say I wouldn't return for a meal as they looked lovely coming out but certainly wouldn't have afternoon tea again or recommend to anyone else.
