S. N.Tasty Caribbean food. The staff at their Derby branch were friendly and helpful. We went there two days in a row, the second time to try their mutton which was good as well. They have happy hours after 9:30 pm and before 7 pm for cocktails. The Jamaican draft beer and their real pale ale were good.

M. R. (.Had a lovely time. Went with my boyfriend on Friday night, and had some of their cocktails (Happy hour!). The staff there were very nice and friendly and help kept cleaning our table. The female bartender kept up good conversation with me whilst I was ordering my drinks, One staff member (Jay) kept coming back and making sure our empty glasses where taken away (thank you Jay!). They were all super friendly, a bearded member of staff kindly got my boyfriend some water (which was definitely needed!). So thanks to all of the staff members who made our night so enjoyable!

Updated: 17th June. Today we’ve been in for some lunch and the service and food was absolutely amazing. My wife is addicted to Jerk Chicken and says the food here is on par with the Caribbean.
Very good price for two starters, two mains, the cocktails and a beer.
K. Y.Love this place ❤ friendly welcome, amazing food, great authentic vibe. The only negative was a jobsworth barman .. poured wrong cocktails then sat them on the side all night when we could have had them as a complimentary drink. Not enough to put me off returning though 😄

L. S.I actually love this place. I see alot of mixed reviews in terms of lack of Jamaican authenticity, baring in mind my favourite meal of all is curried mutton, rice and peas. However, every occasion I've thoroughly enjoyed the food, and cocktails. Food is full of flavour and the atmosphere is a vibe. Always get excited when I've booked here 🎉

The reason I left 4 stars is not only cos of the cocktails but the sweetest guy who served us. He was so attentive and kind and apologetic as it was busy. I’ve worked in hospitality in the past so I felt for the staff especially with coming out of lockdown. After giving him a tip he came back to our table to thank us about 5 times🥺 I didn’t catch his name sadly but regardless everytime I’ve visited the staff are always friendly ❤️
T.Cute themed cocktail bar, happy hour deal is always a good idea. Coconut espresso martini was banging. Toilets were upstairs but it felt like I was in a staff only area?

F. F.Myself and my sister in law have been twice now for bottomless brunch, which is advertised as unlimited cocktails and a selection of options for food.
We have no complaints in regards to the food and first time round our server was great, apologised for delays and ensured we were getting a good flow of drinks.
Unfortunately last night, we weren't met with the same courtesy. We asked when a drink arrived if we could order the next one so it arrived as they were taking a fair while to arrive, to be told no, that's not how it works.
Upon looking up T&Cs there is absolutely nothing that says this cannot be done and our waitress seemed completely disinterested. Walking past several times and not acknowledging that our cocktails were empty.
Can't really advertise as unlimited if you get 6 in total. First time we visited we definitely had at least 10 each and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, hence rebooking, second experience was unfortunately not so great.

M.Turtle Bay not only has great food, but it is also rich in Caribbean culture from top to bottom. You can see the decor, music and vibe all inspired from the culture. It’s a great spot to be at! The staffs are really cool and the food is amazing. I love all of their one-pot curries; I’ve tried all of them and I still cannot decide which is my favourite! The only difference I’ve spotted at this Turtle Bay compared to other ones was that their two-course / three-course set for lunch hour was specific to certain items so I couldn’t choose just any appetizers or main course like I could with other locations. I was a little disappointed because I usually order whatever I like for the lunch discount. Despite that, I still adore this place and would come back to hang anytime.

K. T.Just back from dinner at Turtle Bay this evening. Probably won't go again. The restaurant was cold and I had to keep my coat on throughout. The staff were friendly-ish but the services was terribly slow. We saw our meals being put out for the waiting staff but it was another 15 minutes before it came, and that was after my partner went to ask the cook if they were our meals, and went to find the waiter to bring them over to us.
Food was ok but nothing special, and was cold when it got to us. Over priced for the quantity too. Overall, not thrilled with this restaurant.

L.A friend and I went to Turtle Bay Derby last night. What an experience. After being seated we wait 35 minutes, and were about on the point of walking out when the waiter came to take our order. We ordered our drinks and our main course.. we both wanted baby ribs, 1 with salad. The waiter was absolutely useless. Couldn't get this right. Only I ended up with a meal which was lukewarm but tasted lovely. We both dared to have dessert. Hot and delicious. The waiter was the problem not the restaurant. Spoilt our evening. Such a shame

Bit baffled with Turtle Bay as a business. I've been to five of them and NOT seen ONE employee from the Caribbean. Its like going to an Indian restaurant and never seeing Indian/Asian employees. Bizarre!

n. e.Usually I love coming here for food. However I understand all of the difficulty of places opening again after the pandemic, but me and my friend came to the derby branch on Monday 17th. It wasn't as busy as I thought it may be. The food was gorgeous and cannot fault that. We had a time slot of 1 hour 30 minutes which is an ample amount of time but when it takes half an hour for the main dish to arrive with us after our starter we were rushed. I was very excited to order a desert after finishing the main however the lady who served us automatically came up to us with our bill stating that she was kicking us out as our table was needed for the next people to come in. Which I would of completely understood, if the restaurant tables were full already but there were quite a few empty tables already. such a shame that we felt rushed and pushed out of the door.

L. H.I've visited this location a number of times but on my visit on Saturday 29th August 2020 we received the best service yet! A lovely man by the name of Miguel was our waiter for the evening and he was delightful. We had all taken part in the bottomless brunch and Miguel was always available if we needed to order anymore drinks. He also sent the kitchen staff on a hunt for some of their delicious coconut tart and they managed to find me some in a delivery that had just arrived! Hospitality workers have had a tough few weeks in August with the eat out to help out scheme and have been rushed off their feet serving often rude customers but Miguel didn't let this drag him down, he was super happy, helpful and couldn't do enough for us. I hope he gets a day off soon, he's certainly earned it!

L. G.Turtle Bay is a very family friendly restaurant. There is blissful food and a variety of drinks. I fully recommend as for another reason is they put lovley family friendly music on. The restaurant is very tidy and is a very sweet Caribbean theme.
o.really lovely food, had an issue with our order but our waiter Aaron sorted it super quickly for us and was really nice about it. felt super comfortable and safe as a disabled customer
D. S.Really fun atmosphere, with very friendly staff. They did seem quite overworked which meant table service was a bit slow, but that's no fault of their own as they were exceptionally helpful. The food was amazing! Not the largest vegan range but there were options at least, and the curry was delicious! It even came served in an old style cooking pot which just added to the experience.
Overall it's a fun and different dining experience with a pretty good drinks menu too.

D. C.If it was food only it would be a 4 out of 5! However service was a little slow and we had to ask a few times if we could order. We arrived at 8:15 and only had a sharing platter and some sides to share and try a bit of everything but it was almost after 10:30 when we paid and left which just felt super long for one course and some sides. But on a major plus side the food was amazing, first time really try Caribbean food but I was blown away by the slides and just the unique flavours of the dishes.
Honestly it was nothing like I would usually eat but me and my wife both agreed the food was top notch just wish the service was a little faster, but saying that all staff were friendly and apologetic even though we didn't say anything so I think they may have been having a super busy night and was backed up!

Haven't eaten in the Derby branch, but always looks nice and quite busy. Only downside is the toilet is a bit of a trek. Even so, the colorful walls and steps are quite a sight as you trundle up there.

E.We went for something to eat here on a Wednesday night and we were really glad we did, the atmosphere in here was excellent, the cocktails were 2 for £7.50 so we had a few of them and we enjoyed everyone we tried. The food was absolutely lovely, we had the seafood sharing platter to start which was perfect, we also had a main course each and both of these were delicious, unfortunately we were unable to eat it because we were both pretty full after the starter so we had it put in doggy bags to take away. The members of staff that were working were extremely helpful and friendly. We will definately be back again & would recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a relaxed place and good food.

The cocktails were good and the drinks menu was very varied. We did unfortunately have to wait an inordinate amount of time for a drink which took the shine off the service. Despite this the staff were very friendly.

T. H.This restaurant has a very nice atmosphere, the decor is interesting and a nice change from other restaurants I've visited. The food was delicious and had a lot of variety, there is also a vegan/vegetarian menu available on request which saves you hunting through the regular menu if you have restrictions. The cocktails are moderately priced and well presented. Staff and management were exemplary.

Turtle bay is a small chain restaurant so do bare this in mind when deciding to eat here but this in my opinion doesn't ruin the experience.

S.Booked early..staff were great and very friendly. Read the reviews before booking, however experience was good on this occasion and appreciate everyone is different. Not sure about the meal I had, but would try something different next time! Not too expensive, reasonable prices.

I can't recommend this place in enough. the service from the two waitresses was professional. Cocktail offers of buy one get one free is good but Could be dangerous.

R. S.I'm not sure about the food here, but, this isn't somewhere you particularly go for food, because, all cocktails are 2 4 1 one on a Friday and a Saturday Night. Give the Tease Me a try. Its well worth it. Especially when its as good as, if not better than, the Russian Bride Cocktail Revolution, opposite, serve, but, for half the price, because, cocktails at Turtle Bay are 2 4 1

As with any restaurant it can’t be perfect every time, I’ve been here a few times with friends, colleagues and loved ones and never had an issue, more often than not though there is a little jiggly thing that puts you off like a squawky blonde next to your table or one of the dishes is cold.
Typically it’s not the quietest place as well, there’s always a ‘louder than usual’ hum around it but I guess it’s quite popular.
Don’t be afraid to point out issues with food or table preference, we’ve asked to move a couple of times and that staff are always great, remember complaining is an opportunity for improvement - not a personal insult on the guest/staff member
All in all you get what you pay for, nice food, nice atmosphere but nothing to shout about, it’s pretty reasonably priced and the food and drink selection is good. Have a go yourself and see what you think, just beware of issues with food or dodgy clientele

I went for the beef rib and you get a thin slither of meat with four pieces of bone throughout it. A bit of watermelon with coriander and a small cup of fries. It tastes so good we ordered another... Its not just the food or beverages that are on point in this place but tye staff are also incredible. Very helpful and friendly and understand tye concept of customer service... Very warm place to get a meal.. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a place a bit more relaxed than most... But dont take my word about how good this place is.... Get down there and give it a try yourself ;)
