Reviews of Cheswold Lodge Brewers Fayre
D. S.
We came here for a family dinner. There's free parking and wifi. Service was pretty good. We ordered food and drinks. The drinks came quickly. When the food arrived, my meal didn't. We queried this and apparently the haddock and chips was off the menu but no-one had bothered to tell us. I had to re-choose something and went for the fish pie. Not sure I'd come here again.
C.
Took my elderly Mum and my Brother there for dinner....been there before years ago and Id enjoyed it but last night fell short of the mark for me Im sorry to say! Ordered an Ultimate Yorkie dinner....when it came the pudding was a decent size but the 3 sausages were small, about 3 tablespoons of mash and a small pot of gravy barely enough to cover the mash and NO fried onions! My pud was a bit cardboardy too. I expected bigger portions of sausages and mash and more gravy. Had to go ask for more gravy...could've done with 3 pots worth really! No one came asking if things were to our liking either which would have been nice as it wasn't that busy. Mum's meal was a cottage pie and we both looked at each other when it arrived as it looked like a kids portion. It was in a bowl on a plate too. My brothers meal looked good though and a nice amount on there but Mum and I felt seriously short changed for £10.29 each. Dessert was really nice but didn't come in the type of glass shown on the menu. Sorry to moan guys but I wasn't all that impressed! 🙁👎

Was really nice food ,meat cooked to perfection. Only issue was the Diane sauce it didn't taste like the traditional one I like but everything else was perfect
D. C.
Lovely location. Decent food. Friendly staff. Play area for kids (is paid) nice pub.
T. S.
We had a 6th birthday party here for my son on the weekend for 20 kids. Couldn’t recommend them enough! Amy especially went above & beyond to make sure we were all happy. The food was good. Play area clean. Very attentive staff. It wasn’t rushed at all like most kids parties are. A good price also, party bags & invites included along with a good selection of hot food. Thank you very much for making my sons day special.
T. G.
Just as expected.. an average pub food, that's mostly microwaved, but well presented and served timely.
Minimal vegan and underwhelming vegetarian selection, yet unexpensive.
Children playing section seems to have birthday party program and other stuff, which will be attractive to families, but isn't always appreciated by others as it gets loud.
So if its your kind of place, great..
G. P.
Lots of items on the menu out of stock, not the fault of the staff , neither the coffee machine not being able to dispense milk ,
A note of caution next to the coffee machine was placed two kettles as the hot water dispenser was not working these could easily be dragged of by a child , kettles have no place in a public space with Children running around.
C. B.
Took 15 mins to get served and that was with only 4 or 5 waiting for service and two staff serving. A third staff member was also behind the bar but more interested in putting glasses away than serving, several beers unavailable. Maybe they had just had a rough day but it wasn't a great first impression.

Staff was polite and friendly when we arrived. One member of staff named Sally G was wonderful, she took photos of myself and my husband as we were celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary, she also presented us with chocolates and a card and told us to have a lovely meal and night. Little things like this make you want to go back as it felt like they were more friends than Staff. Thank you Sally G for making our night at cheswolds memorable
A. W.
Booked a table in advance. Ordered food for 5 and came with 15 mins easily. Polite service and food was beautiful. Black forest sundae was marvellous. Warm, background music and fairly busy. Would defo return.
P. H.
Took mum for breakfast but was very disappointed. Our eggs were over cooked and the hash browns we couldn't chew they were hard and dried out.
There was a table of six guys on the next table all talking about the eggs and hash browns. Unfortunately no one complained when we should have.
Sorry I wouldn't recommend or return at £10.00 per person.
M. W.
Not as busy as this place used to be.
Food is average, though the portion size of the chips are so small, even a child would be wondering what the hell is going on🥺!
On the plus side, the black forest sundae is a BIG thumbs up😋
C. W.
Absolutely lovely staff. The manager was so welcoming and helpful. She helped me put together a meal that was both gluten and dairy free on my second visit here (photos from one night and the next day. (Sorry, I’d already made inroads on the food when I took the pics). It sounds weird but I felt kind of like royalty when two of the staff brought my food over. I just felt that they really took care of me (I was eating alone) and made me feel very comfortable. A nice relaxed atmosphere for a lone, hungry traveller.
C. Y.
Very very slow service! Waited 50 minutes to then have to ask how much longer has had two hungry children waiting. Pub wasn’t even busy either! Other customers were also complaining about the time wait. Staff member went to see and turns out our meals had been in the kitchen for god knows how long. Food was okay but not the best. Won’t be returning!
A. P.
Had a daytime meal off of the menu. Very good value with good starters and deserts at excellent prices. Would definitely return.
M. T.
Ate here with the meal deal when we stayed at the Premier Inn, the waiting staff were very friendly and helpful but a member if the bar staff wasn't very informative, didn't explain the meal deal very well as a result we paid more than expected it wasn't a lot but if things had been explained better we may have made different choices, the food was ok, we also had breakfast next morning and this was good, staff friendly and helpful with plenty of choice.
R. C.
Second visit here and i have no complaints about the food here. Excellent every meal. Yesterday i had Chicken Goujons to start and then Chicken Tikka for main. This morning had a cooked breakfast i chose 2 fried eggs, 3 bacon, mushrooms, fried tomato and beans. Best breakfast in a Premier Inn yet. This evening Chicken Goujons to start and The Southwestern Burger. Chicken with spicy mayo with skin on chips and coleslaw. Couldn't fault it.
R. c.
Took my daughter here for the play area she really enjoyed it. The food was nice plenty if option and the staff are really friendly
S. P.
First Visit And Had A Wonderful Evening, Great Food Great Drinks, Great Staff.
Thanks To The Gorgeous Zara, For Looking After Us 🍻
C. A.
Went with my extended family for a meal out.
The kids enjoyed the play area. The food was excellent and the drinks good. The staff, Heather, Emma, Amy, Lee and Tom were very professional and pleasant. This was a wonderful evening and folk look forward to returning soon.
M. C.
Had a lovely Birthday meal. Even better when the kids pay 😆 plenty of choice from the menu.
T.
Staffing a problem, menu's like hens teeth. New drinks menu when ordered do not contain what advertised. These guys serving the public could do with More co-workers & training to communicate when problems have arisen. Food good & reasonable in a timely of financial osterity.
R. H.
The Indoor soft play is brilliant if you have kids only down side is limited seating area around the soft play the food is standard pub food nothing to scream home about but the staff are good and occasionally go that little bit extra to make people days strongly recommend a visit especially if you have kids
C. S.
Great breakfast, so much better when buffet is on compared cooked to order.
C. G.
Good staff, it's nice inside and very clean. I recommend the turkey roast. The meal prices are very fair. I'd certainly use again.
E. B.
Excellent service! Food came out piping hot and all the servers we’re attentive and made sure we had everything we needed . Definitely be back again !
G.
As I was staying in the Premier in next door this was the location for there meal deal.
Breakfast started at 6:30 and had the usual stuff on offer that we've come to expect lately.
The evening meals are thankfully very good, with a nice selection, from pub basics like fish & chips upto more fancy food from far away countries. The pudding choice was good too, my personal choice was the triple choc brownie ( but without the ice cream ).
On a final note, I have to say it, the staff were constantly helpfull and had a honest genuine want to help. They made my evenings that little more cheerful.
A huge thanks to ALL the staff, including the manager. Well done.
K. S.
Very noisy but it is Bank Holiday. Lot of tables uncleared for quite a while.
Nice pint of Tetley though.
D. D.
The food was pretty good to be fair, once you've chosen a dish they actually have available.
The issue was, within those walls I seemed to be invisible, I contemplated sprawling across the floor and playing dead just to get some attention, but decided they would probably walk right over me. I had to go to the bar for every interaction. When someone shows you to a table they should then follow it up with telling you to order at the bar, otherwise you'll be waiting a very long time.
It's McDonald's rules, which I'm not a big fan of (outside McDonald's)
Breakfast buffet was good though.
G. p.
Delicious food cooked to a lovely standard. Staff that are friendly and clean facilities, I would visit again.
H. L.
Excellent meals and service. Couldn't fault the food.
J. D.
Lovely meal .very handy if you are going to cinema eat before or after film.
A. W.
Service was good, food tasted lovely. Lots of choice & value for money.
a. m.
Nice carvery Sunday lunch . Great kids play area . Special mention for Amy who was so helpful.
D. F.
Booked a table for 8pm, at 9:30pm I asked for a refund on the none existent food and went to taco bell.
Shame because it's normally good but with only one chef on it doesn't help 🙄
l. M.
Loved the place went here for little ones 10th birthday and the manager and waitress also sang happy birthday and gave him muffins with sauce and candles which was a nice added bonus. Nice play area with screens in main area to keep an eye on the kids while they play and parents relax will be visiting again
b.
Food was fine , service not so good 😒
C. H.
Carvery was lovely my boys meal was free and we had free play are. Can't realy complain
S. H.
Great staff, they go that extra mile so you enjoy your visit. Good food and prices especially the 2 for £8.99 menu
A. E.
Ordering food is an absolute shambles. The staff are basically robots that can't think for themselves. The main saving grace was that the manager was very professional and was doing his best to hold things together. The majority of the food was ok but deserts were pretty atrocious.
V. B.
Food wasn't as good as before some chips were raw, starters where warm no table checks and after the plates where taken never asked if there was any puddings ordered had to ask a member of staff for my pudding after 15 mins, I wouldn't of minded if they was really busy but when we went it was fairly quiet
A. J.
Good food great prices a bit slow at filling up at breakfast but food lovely and hot 👍👍
K. T.
Had a really nice afternoon out for my sisters 40th Birthday. All the staff were very nice and food was nice and out quickly, even though they said it could be upto half hour. Sally G, the waitress on shift, was very kind and brought out a birthday treat on the house while singing Happy birthday. This is a big shout out to her to say thank you for being so nice and helpful. And thank you for her treat ! 😊
J. H.
Took ages for food. Not all brought at once. Staff not very helpful. The food was nice but not what was expected. Small portion sizes. Play area changed too much and can't always see the children. So called safety entry/exit is too easy to get through, there used to be a gate that had to be openedby a staff member. I'd be very concerned if I still had small children.
K. /.
You feel you know what to expect with a Brewers Fayre, however today well exceeded our expectations. The restaurant was busy, as you'd expect the first Saturday after lockdown, but the service from Julie was both attentive and friendly. The food did take a little while, but the kitchen would have been busy, and it wasn't an excessively long time. When it did come it was well presented, with generous portions, and delicious. The great service definitely had a bearing on our decision to stay for desert which was just as enjoyable. Overall it was a great experience pub lunch, and if the other servers are as good as Julie was with us, it's a totally recommendable venue.
L. W.
Fab my little boy is autistic and had meltdown whilst at a party and they bagged up his food he did not eat, they was very kind and I fully appreciate that at times like that
J. F.
Food was really nice, added bonus of blue light card discount. Nothing not to like.
M. P.
Wasn't great, wasn't terrible. Customer service needs a bit of a review, and food portions weren't exactly fantastic. Kids meals weren't very good, not worth what I paid for a family afternoon meal. On the other hand kids enjoyed time playing and running around. I would return just for that, but not for the experience I had dining.
D. R.
Nice place rooms very nice clean too
Only thing a can moan about we came back into pub about 10.30pm sat night the girl behind the bar was on the phone so stood there 5 minutes while she put phone down only for her to say sorry the bars closed.could have told us before rather than us stood there for nothing.
S. K.
Friendly staff food came quick we had the share platter is was lovely and easily filled 2 people and the quality of the food was really good drinks are reasonably priced too the hot sauce that comes with it was delicious
F. S.
Was very busy due to concert. Food was good given how busy they were x
J. w.
Staff always friendly and helpful good value for money been here a few times .
A. C.
A great pint with a great mate. The place has come a long way from how it used to be. Really like the new menu and the nice quiet atmosphere. Really good place for a Monday motivational drink after a long day. Will become a regular visitor. 5*
L. D.
We had a table for 12 b9oked for my dads 91st birthday....the staff were very friendly and helpful even though they were very busy they were very pleasant...polite and professional.
A. C.
Okay, not the best premier inn breakfast , however staff friendly and helpful as always.
c. c.
Excellent Service staff very helpful. Alan, Debbie and everyone we met made us feel very welcome. The meals are very good value and my husband loved the breakfast. I don't eat breakfast but they did me some toast. And made us feel very special on our wedding anniversary. Thank you all. 😊
E. H.
Always been friendly great place Alan and Debbie became my friends and it is sad they have moved on but they are not too far away and Vonnie great worker and my very good friend she keeps the place spick and span bless her
Yes great place great staff great food
r. w.
Staff did nothing to quieten loud group, slow service, food ok fish was nice
T. C.
Great staff, Alan particularly helpful with meal choice and service that was second to none! Very attentive and fast service. Would recommend anytime
V. M.
Booked a table for 11 people online for a birthday meal, and stated we needed 1 veggie meal no mushrooms. They phoned me the morning of to explain the veggie option had mushrooms in the crust, but as it's not an allergy, I said that'd be fine. The veggie option wasn't what was stated on the phone but something else that had no mushrooms anyway.
I got there early to find they'd sat us on 2 tables of 6 with a screen between them. After stating to the woman I'd really intended on us all sitting together (there was to be a surprise pregnancy announcement too), she and a colleague went to lengths to get us 2 tables pushed together. She'd explained how their system doesn't tell them if it's an online or phone booking, so they wouldn't call to check, as their biggest tables seat 8.
Food was great, as always, with some orders from the carvery and some off the menu.
C.
Really friendly, helpful and attentive staff. They made my hangover from hell so much more bearable and able to enjoy the great range of breakfast food they have on offer. Left there feeling much better than when I arrived and would definitely go again!
D. B.
Been a few times now and the food is always spot on. Very friendly staff and good value for money. Nice place to go after swimming or ice skating
L. C.
Nice food though not a lot of it
Service extremely slow.
C. C.
Went for lunch with wife, two free vouchers sent to wife for Birthday, free drink and Meal.
Fast quick service, covid policing in place.
Ordered food, fish and chips and a steak with pepper corn sauce.
Both came quickly. Lovely food well cooked.
Only after eating realised forgot sauce.
On paying bill just said about no sauce, cost knocked off plus my second pint.
Very generous.
Paid and left £5 tip for staff as a thanks.
Will return.
K. F.
Food was fantastic, we all cleared our plates. Our server Amy P was great, she checked to make sure we were enjoying our meals and if we needed anything. Would definitely recommend.
D. C.
Nit impressed with paying for a drink then having to serve myself.
G. D.
I would have give more stars if they was more staff to do there job and not leave it to the customers to help out like us
D. K.
Just stopped to take advantage of the meal deal before 6pm. Excellent value.
a. d.
It is what it is, staff are nice can get busy. Nice play area for the children
A. H.
Staff were really friendly & helpful. Play area great for kids. Food value for money
J. G.
We love coming here for a meal! Value for money and staff are so friendly, would definitely recommend this place.
M. M.
What a pleasure it was to have breakfast here. From the moment we checked it it was great, great welcome, friendly staff, a breakfast that you could pick what and how much you wanted. And I even got a box of chocolates off the staff for my birthday. All I can say is a big thank you.
H. M.
The food and service was really good. The place was clean and felt clean and safe from covid germs. Some staff where knowledgeable about all new restrictions in place. We went in the play area. I have a toddler that was a baby start of lock down so has no idea what any of these place are like. I showed her how to climb in the play area. A member of staff ran over shouting at me saying I wasn't allowed to be in the area. A toddler should be in the toddler area. I agree. I have never been to this play area before and had no idea where it was. However the Toddler area was dreadful and pushed in the corner a tiny slide only. My daughter refused to play on it! As we have a slide at home 4x the size if this one. She kept going to climb which Is her personality and getting upset as she was the only one on there and was not sure how to play.
Would of been 5 stars if I had not been with a child!
N. M.
The lady that worked on the play area today was a star! So helpful towards me being on my own with a toddler. I could not thank her enough.
C. F.
Went to access indoor play area & eat lunch, was enjoyable. Although no adults allowed in play area, which is slightly discouraging for those who are unsure 😕
I. M.
Nice place took a walk around the lake and called in for a couple of drinks
A. a. P. T.
Last minute meal out, place was heaving which is a good sign for food being good, getting served at the bar to put in food order took a while, not many bar staff, and then food took nearly an hour to arrive, food was good though 👍🏻
A. C.
Wasnt expecting food to be up to much to be honest . Was absolutely starving . Ordered mini mix grill . Absolutely gorgeous food . Amazing staff . Lovely evening out x
T. R.
Absolutely brilliant here, every meal we had was perfect. The breakfast was always fresh n the bacon was cooked perfectly. Well done to the staff.
P. P.
Food was nice friendly staff

Visited on Saturday greeted by a lovely gentleman Alan he made our experience a very good one it was quiet busy and we didn’t have to wait very long for amazing food will be back again
S. D.
Clean tables, pleasant staff, food was great and extremely reasonably priced. Was unable to get a receipt which was a shame.
g. H.
Did not like the breakfast. The staff worked very hard
M. P.
A wide variety of meals and snacks, this place is perfect for a few drinks or for dinner with the family, there's a large children's play area which is very popular. Clean, and a friendly atmosphere.
A. T.
Clean pub, friendly staff and efficient service, following COVID guidelines. Plenty of outdoor seating for good weather.
A. C.
Lovely place. Went with the family on a Bank Holiday Monday at lunch time, and waiting around 10-15 minutes for the food (which, for a family of four I thought was pretty reasonable). Food tasted great, and when my son accidentally spilled his drink, a member of staff was quick to resolve and get us another drink free of charge. Can't say fairer than that! Very surprised this place has received some low reviews - we had a positive experience overall. Great parking too, and a fun walk around the lake if you get the chance!
C. G.
Didn't expect much being a brewer's fayre but was very pleasantly surprised. Lovely staff. Very helpful chatty manager. Had a rump steak which was cooked perfectly. And all my requests for no salad dressing and other asks were fulfilled. We also had the cheese and mushroom burger was cooked lovely. Not greasy nice slaw and not over faced with chips which weren't greasy either. All in all a nice visit. Top marks would visit again.
S. P.
Breakfast here is bang on and the coffee is really nice
S. Y.
The food is great and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Great place for the family. Large play area for the kids. And there is also a small play area for the little ones. The pub area is clean and a lovely atmosphere. Cozy and warm vibe to this place. There's also a outside sitting area. And sky sports are played here. I would recommend to everyone who loves a good meal out with the family.
P. R.
What to say? Having been a handful of times having recently moved to the area... its handy to take the kids for a bite to eat and to let them play in the soft play area. However, the food portions seem to get smaller with each visit and the food seems bland. When compared to the competition, they need to up the game a bit more. That said, staff are generally friendly and there is good parking and the site is near to the lake, perfect for walking off desert.
B. M.
Excellent mixed grill,cooked to perfection.
E. F.
Lovely meal but not much space for seating in the play area
S. M.
Booked in as we stayed in the Premier inn next door. Covid aware and friendly staff, pub is a little run down and could do with a bit of tlc. There were major issues with supply and distribution of food. I ordered the Mac and cheese burger (double). There were 4, yes four pieces of pasta on the burger. The bread was over done, so too the chips which were a bit small in portion. The pizza for my little boy was not a pizza (as they had run out and we're doing it on sourdough. It was a Margareta and there wasn't any tomato or tomato sauce... Just cheese on sourdough. However it was only afterwards we realised. My wife had the steak and she said it was ok.
We complained and did get the burger for free, however I was then pretty hungry for the rest of the night.another table had the Eton mess with no strawberries as they had run out. Should have told people before ordering.
Front facing staff having to serve and cope with management and kitchen issues. Not really fair, however they should be telling us all if they have run out. Three stars as they sorted the issue with minimal fuss.
A. R.
Excellent staff and food, no doubt one of the best in Yorkshire.
Hard to go anywhere else now Sunday dinner to die for.
n. r. t.
Both the wife and I had a beaut 3 course meal, food was really nice and tasty, would definitely recommend to everyone. the staff was very helpfull / polite and table service by Asia was really gd 10/10 👍👍
I. J.
Staff shortages meant having to wait for cutlery, dishes and food for the buffet at breakfast
M. I.
Brilliant for families that want to go and have a coffee or a beer and dinner. Amazing people. Very friendly staff, especially Sally.
A. L.
Staff very helpful nice to talk to. Place nice and big popular. The meal stake done very well watering in the mouth. My dad salmon he enjoyed very much too. Took me a bit to figure out the drinks vending machine (I may be getting too old for technology Pepsi and lime :P)
E. S.
Good Premier Inn breakfast. Buffet-style now. Preferred it when it was cooked to order before restrictions were eased.
Staff are lovely.
M. S.
Food was amazing , the manager was excellent the pub had lots of reserved tables but he managed to squeeze us in without a wait , keep up the good work guys
a. g.
Disappointed on the night we visited
There was no carvery
B. W.
Family friendly with a soft play area and climbing area on the side for £3 for 90 minutes.
Try to book to make sure you get a table in the evening.Good menu selection.Friendly and efficient staff.
We stayed at the Premier Inn and had the meal deal, the breakfast alone is worth it as the kids eat for free.
A. S.
Foods was nice, but we weren't told we could actually eat in the play area, only discovered this afterwards. Disappointing as we actually asked about how it works on arrival and were told the price but not about the option to eat there. Ensured a stressful meal with children who wouldn't sit still and wasted food due to their desire to play, only to find we could have eaten in the soft play and saved us all a load of stress!
a. m.
Ideal place to meet up with family, there was 7 adults and a 2 years old who explored the play area. The food was great and very filling lots of choice on the menu, we still had room for a lovely dessert. Very reasonable price and value for money. Thank you
D. B.
Food was good, price was good, staff were great, hand dryer was like an asthmatic pensioner with an extra strong mint blowing onto your hands
C. S.
A lovely place for the kids with it having a play room. Meal was nice, but what made it for me was young Dan who was looking after us he was so helpful and so funny he absolutely made my day.
S. R.
we called here after a day at the wildlife park the staff were friendly and helpful, but the meal was dry over cooked and for the price of a burger and a few fries I expected better we wont be returning.
D. N.
Very nice staff I have food allergies and they were really helpful bringing the allergy list to the table ,also the kitchen system went but were lovely when they came to explain about the wait .
k. g.
Went for a breakfast with friends, the waitress we had was so lovely, she noticed we had a birthday in the group so came out with a card and some chocolates from the staff, which was really nice of them, the service was fantastic and the food was great we had a lovely morning, thank you we will definitely be back! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
L. B.
Lovely food, staff brilliant especially Sally our server. Definitely eat there again when we visit the area again
S. W.
Brilliant... they got my order abit wrong at first but a guy who works there,Terry went above and beyond to sort it
D. B.
We come here regularly very friendly and helpful staff food lovely cooked and not too dear there are deals on at certain times of the day which comes in handy when there is a few of you and also got somewhere for the kids to go up to a certain age in there indoor play area
C. B.
Nice place, quite pricey, both drinks & food. Also the food portions were very small
a. S.
Had the all you can eat breakfast and I did eat all I could 😋 the staff were brilliant 👏 the only thing I didn't like where the hash brown's they were over cooked but the rest of the food wad delicious
k. w.
If you stay at the Premier Inn you'll be expected to eat here. The dinners are standard pub grub but have some variety to them (even with the new Covid-induced menu). The burgers, pies and chips are tasty. The cooked breakfasts are great value but do NOT order the continental on its own - you will pay 7.50 for a measly portion of cereal and a sad, microwaved blob of porridge. Order the cooked, and you get the option of having some continental food with no extra charge.

The tall guy (possibly the manager ????) who greeted us and showed us to table was so incredibly lovely. Had carvery which was gorgeous and at £9.99 (inc tomato soup if you want it) was excellent value for money. Would definitely recommend. No waiting time either, bonus !! A most enjoyable experience overall.
A. L.
Good menu and very reasonable lunchtime saver deal.
M. D.
Visited for lunch today, served quickly despite being busy, food lovely and hot, dessert delicious (ordered of daytime menu) will be back again soon.
L. R.
Had the meal deal. Got a bonus card. Friendly staff and tasty meals.
P.
Excellent place with brilliantly helpful staff too. I can't fault it, service is quick and food always comes as ordered even when I've been difficult in changing or asking for specifics. The prices are pretty standard fare for a chain pub resturant and the addition of the play area keeps kids entertained too.
Opening times are pretty good for when watching a late-night movie just next door in the 'Vue' cinema and it's always a comfort to goto late on a Sunday night ( closing time is 22:30 ).
M. P.
Good pub grub, had the sweet potato & feta lasagne which was really nice. Staff were friendly and helpful. We went during the day so wasn’t too busy and food came quick. Can’t go wrong at 2 meals for £8! Place seemed clean and tidy and was ample parking.
L. R.
Great food at good prices. Nice atmosphere. Everywhere is lovely and clean and nothing is too much trouble for the friendly helpful staff. Would definitely recommend to all.
A. H.
Nice little pop in place if you are at Lakeside...
G. K.
Very good all you can eat breakfast ,excellent service from Amy and Emma ,good company with ex work colleagues well worth a visit!!
P. C.
The food was delicious and staff were friendly, but two items of cutlery were dirty, the guy said they shouldn't have been put out on the table.theres a play area there my grandson was playing she addressed him as oi when she spoke to him and when she came to speak to us she shouted from a distance that one had to pay to use the play area and get a band.i felt this was inappropriate as everyone could hear. I thought the person in question should have spoken to us discreetly. I also think the way she addressed my grandson was wrong to. Apart from this incident the place was lovely and clean and I would visit again as I thought the food was good.
P. S.
We love to come and eat here. The food is always superb, the prices are decent and the menu rotates often enough to keep the place fresh but not so quickly as you miss out on popular selections.
The staff are always very friendly, the star loss is purely because in the Play Area there aren't enough staff and the one person at a time on duty always seems disinterested and not very happy to be there.
S. C.
Fairly comfortable experience with helpful staff taking care to ensure covid compliance. Eat out to help out has got us out, but will we keep coming? I'm not yet convinced. Not a reflection on Cheswold so much as eating out generally in these times
J. F.
Standard of food and menu has improved immensley since I was last here about 2 years ago. Friendly staff with good manners and appear to be happy in their work. A better selection if non alcoholic drinks....not boring coke or lemonade. Congratulations to the person who has changed this place around. 😀
L. W.
Great service and the food was lovely.
The management could not have done enough for us. Thank you
n. b.
the batter on scampy and chips was soggy and mushy.
the tomato soup was so watered down it was unbelievable. the mushrooms again had soggy batter.
if you go there i would say sont buy anythin with batter on because it was either not cooked properly so it went soggy or it has been left on side too long.
the chicken starter was nice that would recommend, the normal burgers were nice and we recommend those but the chicken strip one we wouldnt recomment because of the coating on the chicken was all mushy and falling off.
overall you really need to be careful what u pick from here but if you pick right it could be nice
M. K.
I like the play area at back. My son really enjoys himself there. That's the reason why we go there. I wouldn't go just for food as there are better places for that.
P. H.
Went for breakfast massive selection staff are brilliant and value for money
C. R.
Great experience. Nothing was to much for the staff. Finally was great with the children
Asking them what they wanted rather than just dealing with the parents. Can't wait to go again when we stay in the hotel opposite.
r.
Not good tonight. Ordered food when the place was not very busy from the main menu aswell as Chefs Counter. It took 49 minutes and twice asking where the food was from the main menu. On the first occasion of asking where the food was we weren't believed and had to show our receipt. 4 members of party had finished their meals before the 5th arrived. The reason given was 'it is really busy'.
This is in marked contrast to when we have visited for breakfast in the past when service has been excellent.
T. A.
A little busy on a weekend but for a drink before the cinema it's a spot on location also food is decent aswell
C. Y.
Not very good food, some staff member a bit snappy and it wasn't even busy, restaurant dark and dingy alot nicer restaurant around
R. M.
Excellent professional friendly service, food very good.
Our party felt completely, safe and comfortable, credit to the management and staff.
C. W.
A bit manic and an hour wait for food which we were not told about. Appreciate staff issues but why fill up all your tables.
s. M.
Great breakfast for your money
L. B.
Had a lovely 2 night stay at the premier Inn next door ate here 2 nights and breakfast good value for money and really lovely staff
R. M.
Well worked out one way system meals are good service good not a fan of on line ordering ap as you don't have an option to customise meals to your taste
R. D.
4 star review is for families, you don't have children then I would give it 3 stars. The food us normal grub for this kind of place, is cheap and edible but nothing great. Huge space with lots of tables. Lacks cask ale, only one pump, and more regional ales in general. Mostly larger on tap. They have a few bottles of craft but nothing special. The important part is the massive soft play area for children that cost 3 pounds for 1.5 hours. There is tables to eat there while the kids play. Is well kept and has plenty of space for them to run around. Also free carpark and a Vue cinema just a few meters from the pub.
J.
Great place for a few drinks but the menu doesn't impress.
G. B.
Lovely staff. Nice food. Refillable hot drinks.
M. D.
Brilliant staff. Friendly and helpful. Dinner was fairly typical menu. We'll cooked tasted OK. Breakfast fabulous. Good prices as well.
T. H.
Always a pleasure to eat here. Four of us had breakfast and the food was of the usual high standard. The staff can't do enough for you, which isn't the case in many places we've been to. Well done
a. r.
Brilliant way to order if in group by scanning qr code on table welcoming and pleasant staff highly recommend
R. P.
Only called in to use the toilet and staff didn't mind ✅
J. H.
Smart enough inside. Queued at the bar for ten minutes to get served only to be told the food till is elsewhere, despite no signs to advise. Then spent 10 minutes in that queue. Burger and chips came, chips nice but burger lacking something, was a bit bland.
N. G.
Amazing breakfast selection and staff always friendly and helpful. Toilets near the play centre are at out of order, yet didn't have a sign on so used them and they were a disgrace!! Really need fixing asap as it does let the place down
Y. W.
Great place for the family. Kids love the play area but the food is not recommended.
B. B.
We like the brewers fayre bar food . although we did not find the food as good hear as we have done at the king William at oldcoats. The food was a little bit greasy and the chips little rubbery.bit like cooked and then warmed up.think we will tend to go to the king William as the food was good
E. M.
We were served by Natalie and she provided great customer service, made us feel welcome and safe with social distancing. Would recommend to anyone
E. S.
Lovely food, attentive staff, play area to entertain our 8 year old, job done!
S. T.
Just went for drinks and an icecream sundae. Was nice. Didn't have to wait to be seated or served and our puddings arrived in good time. Matt on the till was very friendly and helpful.
C. S.
Mediterranean mixed grill was lovely. Bit pricey for what is just pub food. Kids meals good value however and play area kept them entertained
V. B.
Car park (used by all nearby outlets) partly flooded. Food OK. Toilets all out of order raises question should restaurant be open? And the Muzak dreadful. Will seriously consider going to different restaurant chain. Switch the Muzak off! Get the plumbers in!!
A. C.
Amazing Food (Mixed Grill highly Recomended) Attentive friendly staff and just Fantastic Service 👍👍💕
A. L.
The member of staff went out of her way to look after us. Even the chef or manager came out with a birthday treat for my mum. They were not expecting us, my mum at 92 rarely goes out. Thank you
M. N.
It's a brewer's fayre, you can't expect a lot, they're chain pubs. We only stopped for a few pints, but it was alright, the beer wasn't incredibly well kept, but it was tasty. A bit odd, but my partner ordered a hot chocolate and was given a mug and a sachet and told to make it herself, which is a bit weird. Not bad, not good, just a bit meh
H. P.
Quite a cosy pub and definitely family oriented with the "Huge" children's play area and the larger 4x or.more seating that's predominant.
There's a seperate bar area which I assume is for the regulars and/or couples what's nice.
Service was smooth and polite and I'd most likely visit again should I be these ways in the future.
J. R.
Great Sunday roast. The rest of the food I can take or leave.
The play area is awesome for kids, the reason I've given a 4* is because even after I complained, 3 and 4 year olds were playing rough in the baby area and knocked my little boy over a few times.
C. N.
food was ok had vegan burger, but no vegan cheese, chips were nice.
L. P.
Not many patrons, the food & portions were excellent.Highly recommended by me.
D. F.
Very helpful staff and food is good 👍Alan the manager is always most welcoming
N. S.
Today was the first visit since they reopened this year and still got the great service we’ve always got even with all the extra measures in place to keep us safe, keep up the good work guys and we will see you soon
a. c.
Pleasant staff, helpful and attentive. Good food and drink. Will definitely go again
M. M. Q.
We stayed at the Premier Inn besides it. Had breakfast here every day and dinner twice. There is a huge soft play area for kids. The only reason it does not get 5 stars is that clean breakfast plates for the buffet were occasionally found to have food residue.
D.
Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Gets busy in the afternoon during events in the Dome, but not too bad. Steak and eggs were overdone, but edible.
m. b.
My daughter loves the kids play areas the lady that runs that side is brilliant, she goes above and beyond everytime we go, should be the best paid there.. Foods decent.. Drinks are a bit pricey but they have to make a living
D. M.
Great service friendly people good food
D. T.
Cams bird turned up so he was happy. She shared a bit of his naan bread. Had a table for four between the eight of us but not to worry haddock not bad. Refillable drinks great if you're greedy like me. Anyway must dash the haddock's repeating on me.
W. P.
Food was very nice would visit again. Very sneaky though how the 2 meals for 8.99 were hidden on back off the menu and didn't see them till after Id paid 2 £10.49 Meals.
N. M.
The food was ok on the whole with reasonable portion sizes. However the chicken ( the main part of the smothered chicken I ordered) was tough dry and impossible to eat. I won't be rushing back.
A. B.
A good family restaurant. It is not a carvery except on a Sunday. It has a variety of money saving offers and a cracking self serve curry on a Monday night. Good selection for vegetarians
J. A.
Just had an amazing meal here, staff absolutely fantastic, Alan and Amy were so attentive couldn’t have wished for a better meal and service
N. M.
Staff are very polite they are worked off there feet bless em with the ordering at the table only definitely be back
L. G.
My meal was very poor. They didnt even use flatbread it was garlic bread. Service was too slow. Such a shame in these times.
R. W.
Good food as usual. Nice friendly staff
R. E.
Decent pub grub next door to the Premier Inn Central East, Doncaster.
Staff, especially for breakfast, are always friendly and helpful.
K. B.
Great staff that looked after my little one really well when she hurt her hand. Great food my girls loves play area and always feel very welcome.
c. l.
food is always top notch here, friendly staff, never have to wait overly long for food, great for kids with the indoor play center, although there is a charge, there is even a dedicated drinks and food bar for them. Don't like kids? not an issue here there is plenty of seating away from the play area, you wouldn't even know it's there!
A. “. T.
Food was lovely staff not so great messed up on drink orders, come to take our order just as we was about to tell him he went to another table that shouted him and left us waiting while he sorted them out.
E. P.
Food wasn't great and was cold
D. T.
Lovely staff, yummy food. We often came down here to have some lunch and let the children play in the playground. It is a great little playground, and is a very safe area for the children to play in. I liked that there are tables and chairs inside the play area so you can comfortably eat while the children play. Not many places have that set up so it is truly great!
A. D.
Slow service. We've been before and never had trouble but unfortunately this time the food took about a hour to come and then 20 mins to clear plates before bringing deserts. Shame really because the staff are lovely there's just not enough of them
T. W.
Bread was hard on a children meal...even though I said plain beef burger they still brought it with coslaw!!
Need to improve on few things. Children area was freezing even though I said it was cold.
Need to listen to people views a little more apart from that it was a good meal.
L. F.
Lovely breakfast, offered Gluten Free toast for myself as a coeliac. Cooked to order today. No problems at all!
J. f.
Disappointed although its 15 years since I when last visited, it seemed shabby. The service was good, food ok but I thought it was overpriced. I won't be back.
s. o.
Excellent service, excellent food, was dining alone but didn't get shoved in dark corner out of way. Was spur of moment meal out, but will return.
L. B.
The staff are amazingly friendly and the food is always delicious. The daily deals are really good like burger and drink wednesdays etc
M. T.
I would like to thank the staff in front of house and those in the kitchen for making my granddaughter's 7th birthday special. We came for breakfast on Saturday the 2nd of December and the staff made a very low key meal into a something so specical for us all
I would like to thank everyone involved for their efforts and send a big thank you from us all .
s. e. m.
Love this place, staff are always friendly and me and my partner has been coming here for two years and has never been disappointed. Food is great. Highly recommended
F. B.
Always nice. They are doing well with social distancing using clear screens between tables. Felt comfortable to eat there.
s. b.
Really enjoyed the food and a nice atmosphere with friendly approachable staff
J. S. W.
Good for children to play indoors. Food not the greatest but depends what you order.
C. G.
Lovely visit. Highly recommend. Great food and lovely establishment. Moved from Doncaster 8 years ago and close enough to visit regularly. Lovely buffet n8ght ttenese as well as menu options. Love unlimited Costa coffee.
E.
Nice surroundings, massive parkings, with hotels, movie theater, bowling, swimming pool, lake..., can't fault the restaurant, usually go there for the buffet good service at the bar. There is kids play area,
A. M.
Good pub food. However had to ask where desserts had got to half an hour after we finished main course. Bit disappointing. The staff very helpful and friendly.
P. M.
Went for an early coffee with friends. Staff were helpful and welcoming.
l. t.
Lovely food. Happy to help staff. Very clean
c. I.
Awesome. You have to book tables ahead. Don't just go there expecting to find empty tables.
m. h.
Went for dinner before the cinema lovely food and helpful staff
D. R.
We were there for a family Xmas gathering .There is a very good seasonal menu so there was plenty of choice for the 15 of us including children the ordering and delivery of food was good food was hot and everyone enjoyed the meal. There is however one point I must raise that is the lighting which is small ceiling spots and occasional wall lights it was that dark everyone was using their phone flashlight to read the menu
T.
The food is very good and good value the staff are amazing every single one of them nothing is to much trouble my mother is in a wheelchair thay go out of their way to help her
D. H.
I don't ever put reviews online. But tonight my wife and I went to a event at the dome. Then stopped of for tea here we both had different meals and both our meal 10 out of 10 yum yum.
S. C.
Nice little pub for a good quick bite to eat or a pint, comfortable chairs and enough of a choice of beers and drinks to keep most people happy. Prices are reasonable for a chain pub.
A. M.
Pitcher was good value for money. Cant say i did much more then drink but the drink was good at least
E. v. d. P.
Great place to have a lovely breakfast! Lots of choices, good quality, nice and friendly staff. Easy to get to also.
G. H.
Was very busy so no cutlery available when we needed to change a knife for not being clean. Had to change the knife three times. Meal was good.
J. (.
Fast service and delicious food included with my premier inn booking - no complaints at all! Happily adapted my order for me being a fussy eater too!

I. M.
Very good staff and good meals
s. b.
2 mains for £9 were spot on however £5 for 4 small mozzarella bites is extortionate! Food was great though.
A. G.
Had chicken tikka was beaut very tasty quick service too
s. f. f. g.
Brilliant food fab service
K. G.
Loved it but shared toilet was really disgusting. Could do with a good clean..
b. “. r.
Staff are always great, food is delisious (I recommend the vegetarian lasagne), it's clean and tidy, VERY good value for money, giant softplay area for parties or restless kids. You should go :)
P. K.
Food service quick. Numerous refills for tea and coffee. Clean toilets Good menu. Play area for young children. Baby room available
G. t. g.
Lovely staff. Covid measures very good. Nice food. Uncleaned toilets. Would put me off going again.
A. P.
Good meal today, service could have been better but problems were rectified quickly, the kids had a great time
D. W.
Went for the all you can eat fish and chips but was very average. The mother in law didn't get any chips as everytime she went up there weren't any.
R. A.
Good tidy pub. Meals ok and close to Vue pictures and ten pin bowling alley.
Worth a visit but gets busy at night.
R. A.
Food was nothing special
T. P.
The starter was lovely and the desert was lovely and the carvery was OK with the exception of the under cooked Brussel sprouts, Green byeans and tough Yorkshire Pudding.
b. l.
Nowhere near busy but had 30min wait for food when it arrived not hot , warm would best discribe it but to hungry to wait longer no meal check.
p. t.
We have just returned from a VIP treatment at the newly refurbished children's play area my party of Severn( 4 adults 3 children) Invited along by our excellent host Natile Wood our every need was served by Guest Host Allan who kept us going with drinks etc The meal was of a high standard arriving piping hot and well presented dessert was to die for Apple Betty with caramel sauce The new play area consists of a area where toddles can explore with a gentle slide or for the moire adventurous a large self contained climbing frame The whole event from start to finish was run like clockwork and I would highly recommend this venue for any birthday treat etc Well don and Thank you for a very enjoyable time
Paul Thompson

Service good burgers were excellent and the fish pie was delicious although I don't think it needed garlic bread
M. L.
Had a nice couple of hours in the sun with family.
The staff were great and the prices were fair.
D. H.
Nice cold pint on a hot afternoon
I. B.
Good buffet service, however menu items took 45 minutes to be served.
Staff polite and pleasant and food itself was great
J. G.
It's OK if you have kids and not wanting top notch food. It is what it is. Basic pub grub with an indoor play are for kids (at a cost)
