Fabulous...was taken there for my birthday meal. Food was brilliant. Great different choices of food so interesting and was A+...staff are helpful and very nice...service was great too. Very clean and reasonable cost. The dining area is inside and outside depending on the weather. Would recommend.

This place came VERY highly recommended by a certain chap (the best slightly bonkers guy you'd ever meet) who rather likes trees. This is what perfection looks like. Worth a journey (definitely equivalent ((certainly more friendly than your typical Michelin one star)) to a one star Michelin restaurant). First rate. Five stars. Beautiful, outstanding, heaven.

Visited this place as a party of 12 , unfortunately due to me not being able to read , me and my partner were an hour early , the barman that served us , was a lovely bloke , showed us to the table and was so accommodating, and carried on like this throughout the meal , the food we had was beautiful, and well worth the price , and the waitress that served the table did a great job , me and my partner will be happily visiting here again , couldn’t recommend enough . I know not enough good reviews are put on as people just expect that standard , so when it’s good and better , I’d like to give the establishment the credit they deserve , thank you for a lovely evening

Part of a large birthday group. Food was cooked as described on the menu- I had the lamb dish which was excellent in both presention and flavour. All of the other food served seemed to be generous portions ( although some of the standard pub fare such as burgers or fish and chips may be just a tad overpriced.) The service from the staff was unobtrusive, professional and friendly- especially from the bearded young man to whom nothing seemed too much trouble in ensuring that my sister had a lovely 60th birthday. Thank you King William.

Fabulous gastro pub! Tom is amazing front-of-house. Food is outstanding. Had better food here than in some Michelin-starred restaurants. Great wine list and amazing cocktails. Ask for the secret ‘Conway Cooler’ on a sunny day.

Well above average quality food and good beer without excessive prices. Lovely but small main room, and large outdoor area for good weather. Strongly recommended for Sunday lunch if you’re visiting the area. Some complaints that the lamb gravy was massively over-minted, but large portions accurately cooked. I suspect they don’t sell as many desserts as you would expect.

Visited several times for a Sunday dinner and it's lovely. We often order a variety of the mains and nobody has been disappointed yet. Must admit we visited for an evening meal for a birthday, one Saturday night and the menu wasn't for us. That's not to say the food or staff weren't excellent, just not our cuppa tea. Would love the menu / website to be clearer as it doesn't do the pub / restaurant justice. When you click on it, it doesn't give any information and looks half finished. Once we've stopped been full we'll definitely be back for another roast

Lovely atmosphere, good service, attractive surroundings and tempting menu. I had the vegetable stir fry which included a padding of small, boiled potatoes. The meal was a tad greasy with an underlying taste of black bean sauce. Okay, but expensive for what it was. From previous reviews it looks like other choices are more favourable.

Went for a birthday party, where we were supposed to sit was still being used as in my opinion they had overbooked. The alternative was cramped and a thoroughfare from the kitchen and bar. The food was okay but not good enough for what they were charging! I won't go back.

Traditional village pub with a warm welcome. Good food, freshly prepared and locally sourced ingredients. Proper beer kept well. Staff knowledgeable about the menu and good humouredly attentive to requests. Several separate small rooms, open fires, upright piano with optional Saturday night sing along in one of the rooms when we visited. What's not to like?

Overall, very nice. Expensive. Decent range of drinks. Good menu and range of specials. Took a while to be seated as a previous diner had been delayed, but it was cosy and comfortable. Served pretty quickly, but took a while for the food to arrive. Should have ordered rare, as medium rare came through medium on both steaks, nothing major as it was very tender and very tasty. The jacket chips were good as well as the veggie accompaniments. Very nice venue for the occasional indulgence.

Amazing food, fantastic staff, very friendly and welcoming, we booked late at 9pm, yet the staff couldn't do enough. Not once did we feel rushed or that the staff we're needing to clear away. Good sized portions, the fish platter is to die for. A real hidden gem, with a riverside view and large rear seating area. If you want a treat, go here. Thank you for providing a lovely meal, and a relaxed evening meal for two. We will be back... Weekly!! All the best.

Really nice location next to the river idle. Large beer garden with extensive covered awning and restaurant area. Lovely food at reasonable prices and very friendly staff. Large off site car park. Well worth a visit. Fabulous ice cream shop next door.

Great food, friendly staff. I had the Thai fish cakes to start which were fine, but nothing special. The sirloin steak however was exceptional. We will definitely be visiting again. We even bought some Jersey milk from the vending machine (I know).

Lovely country pub with outside seating. Bar man very welcoming and knowledgeable regards the menu. Food was really good and homemade. They have recently started to serve food all day which we find convenient. Would definitely recommend and will be returning.

The staff, although obviously rushed off their feet, were great. The setting is idyllic with the river just down the garden. Old outhouses and stable/bar lends itself to nesting birds and overall setting. The weather helped too. We ordered a selection of small plates and sides ranging from 4 - 7 pounds each. The emphasis is on the word 'small' but it was well presented. The star of the show for me was the scotch egg although the satay sauce was more chip shop curry than the satay sauce I make myself. I didn't mind the ever so slightly underdone white. We chose the more expensive chips with truffle, bacon and parmigiano. The chips were beautiful cooked but I don't think truffle flavour adds anything. All in all it was good food but over priced for me. Will I be back? Yes gonna try the mains out AND I think it's important to help the catering businesses who have had a rough time of it lately.

After a long paddle kayaking down the river Idle we decided to end at the King William not to be rude after using their rear garden to exit the river we stayed a short while to have drink before returning home. Excellent place to eat and drink in a lovely location. Lovely beer garden to the rear with lawn area down to the river. P.S. really sorry if we smelled of river water had to make do with a quick towel down and change at the car.

Went today, my first time out since lockdown. Not going to lie I was a bit nervous.But we had a wonderful day out, there is do much grassed area for everyone to space out, didn't feel at all crowded, there was Hand sanitizer everywhere inside. They had table service, the staff worked so so hard bless them, they made sure they got everything right, really friendly too. Management was great and food was out of this world.

However went with a group for a pre-ordered Christmas meal. This was poor. Turkey dry and tasteless, duck tough. Service quite slow. Only full fat milk available for beverages, very surprising in 2018, so declined. Over last 37yrs had some really good meals at this pub, so very disappointed.

OK, we are now sat down at 10.20pm eagerly awaiting Big Red, but it’s been a long day in the sunshine since high noon. Superb - and I do mean suuuuperrb bbq at Boyneton Hall, the ancestral home of Lord David R Boyne & Lady Alison Boyne. 3 visits in under 2 weeks! My father, who lives in Spain, loves the place. Great choice of beers, wines and spirits. The food is exceptional and offers a good choice that caters for most people. My only slight, and it is slight, quibble "The service charge". Otherwise staff are helpful, friendly and cannot do enough for you. In fact another visit planned for later.
