Amazing service from the door to the table. We met by a gentleman at the door and he could see I had issues breathing so we were directed straight to the lift for a beverage before being give a menu to look over, which I thought was the best idea as you could take your time perusing the menu. The staff were all wearing masks 😷 which was excellent to see. The barman Shane was extremely knowable about whiskeys, cocktails and wines 🍷.
A lovely gentleman came over and asked if we would like to order or did we need a few minutes. We ordered and then a few moments later we were sat at a table that was socially distanced from other people eating. Well done and forwarded thinking looking after patrons and staff. We were offered another drink and water for the table which we accepted. Our drinks came and then our starters arrived I had the scallops perfectly cooked and the starter as a whole was divine. My husband had the prawns also cooked to perfection and divine. We were never left without a drink or someone checking to see if we needed anything which I found totally different from most places I've been. Our main arrived hot and prompt the portion sizes for this restaurant were spot on. Honestly most places pile on the food that you really only need a starter as they are so big the my mains never get eaten. I had the venison rare just as I had ordered as when the gentleman came to take our orders said they serve it medium rare. My husband had the beef pad thai that sizzled at the table for the longest time. Both meals were exquisite. The only criticism I would have was the bacon and cabbage was not needed with the venison and did nothing to lift the dish at all. I would put green beens, asparagus or even baby carrots.
We both ordered the crème brulée, with a rhubarb compote at the bottom as you can see they both came out looking exactly the same. A lovely finish to a fantastic meal. I couldn't eat it all as it was quite a hefty portion. Please don't charge your portion sizes or your team as everything was just perfect. Thank you all so much for such a lovely evening. Definitely 5 stars 🌟.

My husband and I had booked a table for 12 on Saturday night. Even though the restaurant was really busy the service and food was excellent. Staff were really attentive and everyone in our party said how much they enjoyed it. A big thank to all.

Lovely Atmosphere . Very busy on the Saturday night we visited . But enough staff working so we were never neglected . Not a quiet restaurant, there were a number of birthday parties and large groups but also couples

Although the food was tasty, the selection was poor. The meat was sliced very thin (almost see through) and we felt rushed at the end. We were only there an hour and ask to move to the bar. We booked a table that morning for our daughter and her boyfriend as it was her 21st birthday. Normally there is a big birthday song and a cake but she said she was disappointed because there was nothing. We made sure it was noted but to no avail. Not the Viscounts I remember.

Great food. Only had to wait twenty minutes fir dessert. But worth the wait.

Food is nice but not as much as I would expect it to be if we're taking the prices in to consideration.
Staff and the service was incredibly good, very helpful and friendly, all with a smile (excellent service!).
As for the three stars, it's just OK.

For quality and class this restaurant is still the best around in Northern Ireland, perfect, food tasteful, and great selection.

Lovely relaxed atmosphere. The staff were very helpful. The food was excellent. I had Duck breast. Cooked to perfection. I would come back again.

Lacking....lots. Spent the day out with the eldest daughter, aged 8, and thought we'd try out the Viscounts Restaurant...did we enjoy it, well, yes, but in all honesty, nothing special.
Meet and greet was fine and we were escorted to a table situated upstairs, menus provided and drinks order taken, nothing too complicated, water and coke. Waiter arrived to take our food order within a minute or two of being seated, I asked for a few moments as we hadn't had a chance to look over or discuss the food options....you'd have thought I'd just fired him, rolled the eyes, turned and walked away, no acknowledgement and not a bit of manners about him.
Food eventually ordered and arrived to the table.
STARTERS
Me: prawn filo parcels -
lovely presentation, great flavours...but could have been hotter.
8yo daughter: garlic mushrooms -
piping hot, tad over cooked but very tasty, served with a delicious garlic mayonnaise and fresh salad.
MAIN COURSE
Me: filet steak with prawns (surf n turf), champ, green veg and pepper sauce -
requested a medium steak but arrived medium to rare, swimming in blood. Had to pay an extra £4.95 for 3 prawns...rip off! Veg was very al dente which I prefer, champ was satisfactory but the peppercorn sauce had skinned over. Although undercooked, the steak was full of flavour. I'd have enjoyed it more had it been cooked medium.
8yo daughter:
burger and fries -
decent size burger, lots of flavour but a little too big for an 8yo to finish (that's not a complaint).
DESSERT
Me: pavlova -
in a word...divine! A huge slice arrived so I was rather happy and so was the daughter because she knew she'd get some. Really crunchy outside and soft and chewy in the middle, delicious.
8yo daughter: sticky toffee pudding -
"best part of the meal" said the little lady, and I have to admit...it's probably the nicest sticky toffee pudding I've ever tasted, really couldn't and wouldn't want too fault it. Top marks.
There were several concerns with the meal but I didn't want to ruin the 'Daddy-daughter date' and therefore chose not too complain. I was extremely disappointed with the lack of politeness/friendliness from our server....was he having a bad day? Who knows! We had 3 courses but not once, and I sincerely mean, not once, were we approached and asked if everything was alright or was there anything else required. Poor service in my opinion, checking in on your customer is a basic requirement for any restaurant.
CONCLUSION
Lacks atmosphere despite being in a beautiful building. Staff seem completely disinterested. Food has the potential to wow but just lacks something.
Will I return...not sure but possibly, everyone deserves a second chance...don't they?
