The food here was really nice, I especially liked the hariali. Peshwari naan was nice but could have had more filling and portion sizes were small, the rice was very small for £4.50, not really enough for 2 people. The staff weren't very friendly and the coke was totally flat so deducting a star for that. My starter plate wasn't clean which is why I didn't bother with poppadoms or a starter, the food hygiene rating is only a 4 also. I'd probably still go back though as the food was decent and there's not that much choice for Indian food in Durham.

I had dinner here with my partner, I tried 2 curries, they were very tasty and full of flavours. I am very picky on indian food and this was just the way i like! Nan bread also was really nice. The decor is nice the one you'd expect in a indian restaurant.

Had a great meal for my husband's birthday. Service is professional and very good. A rare Saturday night off for me as a chef myself. Compliments to the chefs. My lamb was beautifully cooked.The dish was was lovely. They provide salt and pepper at the table: it's not needed. Everything was perfectly seasoned. We very much enjoyed our evening.

Nice room. Good lighting - soft but not dark. Linen napkins and tablecloths. Looks great. Food ok but quality of ingredients not high. The fish in the Fish Tikka was not very tasty and the lamb in the curry had no flavour at all. Orange Juice was cheap and nasty. I waited 30 mins after they collected my plate after the main course and still I had not been offered a desert or coffee... or anything, in fact. If you're only interested in how the restaurant looks then this is the place for you.

The customer service is great! The waiting time is good. As a not Indian person I think the food was tasty, although my Indian friends think it is not that authentic. The portions are reasonable, the place is really big and the vibe of the place is nice! They have cool music in the background.

My absolute favourite Indian restaurant. The food is absolutely beautiful, the chicken tikka masala is so rich and creamy one of the best I’ve tasted, amazing and full of flavour. The staff here are very welcoming and pleasant, really give off good vibes. Such a warm and cosy atmosphere. Great service and don’t have to wait too long. Also very good portions, always leave here ready to explode. As a huge Indian food lover this place will definitely take some beating, definitely recommended!😍🥘.

Wow! I have been to many differing curry houses up and down the country. Curry is by far and away my favourite dish. This place is something else. From the wonderful service to the stunning decor. The ambience is perfect. Then the food happens! Oooohh! The food happens.........Absolutely stunning food. The flavours, colours, aroma and the asthetics. These guys have just set the bar for me. Do not hesitate in booking here.

Incredible flavours with the dish I had. The sevice is on point. Such lovely people. The restaurant is large but has lots of nooks and crannies so it means that there are private tables. I would not hesitate recommending this spot to anyone. Think it might be going up to my favourite indian. Well done to the owners for making it so.

First time here, nice food, nice restaurant, however the manager was rather rude as due to unforseen circumstances a few in our party of 16 didn't turn up, I realise from a business point of view its polite to inform if you can't make it however it was a last minute situation that wasn't anything to do with the rest of the party who did attend, also it was an early evening booking,.6.30pm, and there was plenty of empty tables to accommodate walk-in patrons. The attitude was uncalled for and we did apologise numerous times, may think twice in the future before I book another meal here.

Moving from a city to village we found most takeaways are bad food and high prices. I've had 3 meals last few month at alishaan the food is absolutely beautiful had no criticisms at all staff are good bunch can have a laugh with the lads on the floor. Had a very nice meal here after dropping our son off at Durham University. We are looking forward to sampling the varied menu again soon..the only downside were the stale poppadoms but we booked for 6pm so I guess they were left over from lunch. Service was friendly and polite and prices the same as Surrey!

Fabulous - popped in on the off chance they were still serving food, late on a Saturday night. Initially they said they weren't - and then they seated us without any pressure to order quickly once they checked with the kitchen. Food was stunning, the staff were great and will definitely be going back for the full dining experience. After learning our local curry house had closed we decided to try Alishaan based on a recommendation from a friend. Lovely atmosphere even though there weren't many people in on a Tuesday. Tried a green curry which was rich and creamy. Pickles were exceptional. Service good and didn't feel rushed.

I got a takeaway which was very nice. Upon picking it up the restaurant looked very modern and clean inside with a very nice atmosphere. Only knocked one star off, as it's a little pricier than some other local Indian restaurants. However I do believe you get what you pay for.

I went with my friends. Seven of us visited this restaurant. For most of us, this was our first Indian meal out in Durham. The location of the restaurant is good and convenient. It is located in the heart of Durham. It is very close to Durham railway station and Durham bus station. The menu of the restaurant has provided us a lot of options, encouraging us to try something different. After discussing with each other and consulting the staff there, we had ordered from starters to main courses, including duck, lamb, chicken and prawn (see pictures). All of the food presented well and just the right amount. And all food is excellent and good taste. Particularly for lamb shank, it is very nice and tasty; not very spicy. My friends and I love this course. Also, Galic Naan is our favourite food. So, lamb shank and Galic Naan are strongly recommended to you. Very tasty and excellent value. For our seven people, we have only spent £96.9, each person £13.80. We were all satisfied. The staff was very friendly and very attentive to our needs. Plus, very nice atmosphere. We extremely enjoyed our evening here. Would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant. Definitely, we will be back. Noticing that the opening time of this restaurant opens at 5:30PM, from Monday to Sunday. It is ideal place for family celebration and a gathering of friend.
