Reviews of Dunelm Ridge Brewers Fayre
K. T.
Good deals usually available. Makes for a cheap and cheerful meal out. Food is obviously frozen stuff bought in definitely- not fancy and freshly prepared stuff, but still fills a spot and is enjoyable enough. Often eat here, as we have a card and you get good deals. Have recently enjoyed the carvery. Nice relaxed atmosphere and ways clean and tidy with friendly staff.

Nice place , clean and friendly . Food is good . Children not controlled by parents worried me for safety reasons . Children crawling around the floor while staff are trying to give people their food and dodging the children . It was also very noisy and my husband who uses hearing aids struggled badly and at one point we had to shout at each other to be heard . The following day we used the adult area and it was quieter . Staff were very friendly and helpful as we are both disabled .
There was a children’s soft play area .

I never really expect much quality from chains but after a lunchtime visit yesterday during a long haul journey back to Skye I found myself being pretty surprised.
Started with a sharing platter, beautiful fish goujons and tender chicken along with other sides.
The main surprise was the 8oz sirloin steak with the extra sides, really well cooked and seasoned lump of meat, excuse the terrible photos, temporary phone being used.
Looked after by the beautiful Paige we had good friendly pit stop and for a great price we left pleasantly stuffed.
Glad we stopped by.

Large pub/restaurant with plenty of room and tables. It has an adults only section, although it appears a lot of people can not read and still take their children into this section, but the staff do then inform them and ask them politely to move to the family areas. Good selection of traditional food on the menu and a decent selection of drinks. If you are looking for somewhere quiet for a meal, then this is probably not the place for you.
A.
Nice restaurant with lots of space. Small garden with more seating. The staff are under pressure so it may be necessary to queue to order. Food arrived quickly and was very good, well cooked and tasty. Some great meal deals. Good drinks prices. Would recommend.
A.
Kids had fun in the soft play and the outdoor play area, we (a group of 5) all ordered some food and was a mix of kids menu meals, normal menu orders and sides and we all enjoyed our food - took a little long to get to us but as the kids were playing, we didn't really mind letting them work up their appetite! £3.50 for the indoor play area for 90 minutes play, they didn't seem too busy when we were there so they got longer than their 90 minutes (don't know if this was intentional or not but a bonus either way), but the little ones enjoyed themselves and was an easy way to spend a good few hours during the summer hols.

Called in for breakfast to set us up for a family day out.
My goodness. What a selection from continental, full English buffet, fruit, drinks.. Amazing. As much as we wanted. Suited all of us.
So did the price. Great set up. Very well organised and very clean.
The most friendly, welcoming, helpful and respectful staff. Credit to you all. This was our 4th visit in the past few month and always enjoyed it.
A treasure hid behind trees.
Lovely garden area to relax in also. Play area indoor and outdoor.
What more could a family want.
K. M.
Nice layout with tables in the garden and a adult-only section. Very friendly staff. This place would be perfect if it had a salad buffet. Getting drinks from the bar can take a long time when the place is busy.
C. B.
Family visit. Food was lovely, staff friendly and establishment very clean. One critique, on most starters it would be nice to get salad garnish on plates as starters are £4-£5 and it would enhance the plate
N. M.
Always come here for a cheap lunch, love how they have a dog area so we can take our puppy and staff make a great fuss over her, they have lots of toys and treats to help yourself to aswell as a nice comfy bed and blanket for your furry friend. I think all places should have a pet area as they are a big part of your life
M. T. (.
Food here is excellent. A great selection and it's hot and fresh. The staff are friendly to boot and the selection of beers and gin are very good. It's never too crowded and I only waited like 7 minutes for my food. The menu is up to date and has nice seasonal selections as due to travelling with work I've been here throughout different periods of the year.
D. J.
A party of 12 had lunch here for my grandsons 7th birthday the staff were absolutely brilliant the food was delicious I took a cake and they lit it and brought it to my grandson singing happy birthday, they even gave him a present my grandson and us had a lovely visit here and the staff did everything to make everything perfect for us and made my grandsons birthday extra special
C. M.
The food was OK we got 2 for 10 pound I had the fish and chips they where nice and hot.
V. R.
Visited for breakfast with my family and it was ok. I expected a wider selection of items on the menu but found they were less than 10 items. The place was clean and the staff was very helpful. Parking is available nearby also which was convenient for us.
j. b.
Good family pub. With lots of contractors. Average food and drink.
Larger soft play for children.
J. P.
Ah, fantastic staff amazing and the children's play area staff think her name was Emma, ah she was so kind and none judgmental towards the children wonderful staff.
l. f.
This is a clean, well maintained, cared for site . All the staff we encountered, both for the evening meal and the following morning for breakfast were welcoming and chatty . The food was well cooked , I had the lamb and my friend ordered the burger. ln the morning ,despite it being a buffet , I ordered porridge and 2 poached eggs ,,( which were cooked perfectly ). This is a brewers fayre I highly recommend and if I am ever in Durham again I definitely would revisit . Great experience guys , thank you .
J. L.
The staff are very helpful and friendly. The food is excellent and great value but sadly the furniture , tables and chairs need an urgent update. On our last visit the tables were not clean neither had other tables been cleaned after diners left . Although we have been eating regularly at this venue for a number of years we are not keen on returning until the issues I have raised are addressed
S. H.
Great range of breakfast buffet and can select your own. Also includes a continental breakfast with the price. Refill costa coffee and orange or apple juice. Highly recommend as it fulls you up for the day. Free onsite parking although can get busy as its part of the Premier inn. Convenient location just outside the arnison centre retail park.
P. T.
A very busy pub/ restaurant with really helpful staff. It is attached to the Premier Inn, so all breakfasts etc are taken there.
The food and service is superb, and every customer is welcomed and shown to their table. We could not fault it at all.
I. A.
Honestly not great the staff do there best but sadly it's not quite right.
Probably need to get a few more people in, seems to me the staff are run of their feet.
b. m.
Very nice chips with Chipotle. Kids had lovely meals. Really enjoyed our visit. Staff were nice and helpful. Only reason for not getting 5 stars was some items off menu unavailable. Also, no sandwiches on menu.
N. G.
Friendly, helpful staff. Our meals were great.
As my wife and I are both disabled, we do have a problem with their 'system' which is geared towards the able bodied.
P. H. (. F.
Food was nice, but nothing to write home about. Good kids soft play inside which the kids loved, it's a shame you need to pay for it as well as a meal.
P. S.
Very good food children can get a 3 course for £4.99. Portion sizes are good . vegan options available alongside meat options.
a. h.
Food average wasn't that busy but had to wait 30 mins plus between each course with a 6 year old...walked out without child desert as waited 10 mins wasn't prepared to wait another 20 mins
D. B.
As these places go it's ok. The menu is fixed, of course, and mostly includes chips. Staff were friendly and helpful.
D. W.
Lovely filter coffee & free refills. We both had a salad which was fresh & tasty.
T. M.
Brilliant! Great value for money. A great range on the menu and the service was excellent. Gemma's service was outstanding!
l.
Decent Sunday carvery and reasonably priced starting from £9.99 even has soft play area for the kids
S. A.
I was in a party of 11. Everyone liked their food. A member of staff even went through a folder containing ingredient lists to advise a gluten intolerant woman what dishes were suitable. I had 2 courses for £12.99 Christmas special deal. Pork lollipops starter was excellent. Very moist and flavoursome pork. Main course of turkey dinner was MASSIVE. Loads of turkey and all the trimmings you'd expect (including Yorkshire pudding) and all cooked and presented well. Nothing was too much trouble for the team of friendly staff. Breakfast was great too. Loads of choice. Staff are brilliant. Santa was there for the kids. Best santa I've seen. He came to our table to see us. All in all we had a great time
D. W.
As always a lovely breakfast, staff were a delight to talk to, very helpful without being too attentive. Would heartily recommend this place. Great cooked breakfast, freshly made! If only they had the correct apostrophe in the name of their establishment!
A. T.
We had the carvery, very poor. The beef was as tough as I've ever had. The mash carrots sage and cabbage etc was that stodgy it wouldn't come off the spoon onto the plate. I must say the service and the lager was good.
J. P.
Food was fantastic, great service and atmosphere
R. P.
Nice family friendly pub and restaurant with dedicated indoor and outdoor play areas. Great for hound families looking for somewhere to take the kids for a bite to eat and a play. Prices are reasonable, which is a bonus!
P. H.
Stayed at premier inn next door. Really nice place. Good food and drink, freindly staff we would definitely recommend this place. Good that they have a no kids area.
x.
Amazing place with amazing staff service is always great prices are right for every meal keep up the great work
C. J. A.
Food was fine nothing stunning just adequate, I thought the front of house service friendly but slow it seemed to take forever between courses yet the place wasn't really very busy and football was on the TV that's ok but I found that the volume to be too loud. We ate 3 courses it cost £58 for both of us.
D. S.
Spot on everything was great staff friendly and accommodating agreat Lunchtime bit and drink 🍸 👌.
J. S.
Come here all the time, staff is friendly and food is good. Recently got a chicken and bacon salad which was lovely. Usually get the baked salmon, have been to a few Brewer's Fayre pubs in the past year and Dunelm Ridge always do it best.
P. G.
Usual premier inn quality and excellent breakfast in brewers fare pub next door.
I. A.
Good value for money, food was okay service was slow.
B. L.
Canny food took kids into play area they love it here refillable coffee
M. U.
The best breakfast around, especially their hash browns, they are the best I've ever had, lovely and crispy. Thanks guys.
G. B.
Very helpful and friendly staff. But I would like served at the table, staff are losing tips.
D. C.
Excellent family venue for dinner. Lovely staff who provided great service.
D.
Kids eat free with breakfast and you can eat as much as you want well worth it
J. K.
Had lunch here with a friend. The staff were very friendly and helpful letting us know what desserts were not available. We both had fish and chips the fish was beautifully cooked as were the chips. Every where was nice and clean. We will definitely be going back there. The only reason they got 4 stars was because afew desserts were not available.
M. P.
A good variety of tasty meals but first choices are not always available. If staying at the neighbouring Premier Inn, it's worthwhile booking in advance and also taking advantage of the meal deals If you like a bit more peace there is an area specially reserved for adult diners only and some choices can be taken out. Despite the pressures on catering staff these days everyone there was relentlessly attentive and helpful.
w. t. d. M. A.
A nice Sunday roast here most weeks.
My only criticism is that the gravy let's it down every time.
Thicker gravy is required to make this place great.
L. B.
We went for breakfast with Santa today and it is such good value for money. An all you can eat buffet breakfast which was very tasty, a great Santa visit with an excellent Santa who really had my 2 yr olds and 5 year olds attention and then a play in the soft play. It was well organized and staff were friendly and attentive.
G. N.
You can't help but like the staff here. They're always very pleasant. The food is Brewers Fayre.. Wholesome. Breakfasts are help yourself: well laid out, nothing missing for choices. This venue can get busy, but you will be accommodated if at all possible. Comfy old chairs for after meal chats available.
M. S.
Had to wait on arrival to be seated, 4 staff available, 1 acknowledged we where waiting then continued to serve the bar queue, including the 3 customers that joined the queue after we arrived at the welcome station. If we had not bought the mealdeal from the adjoining premier inn we would have not bothered.
The food was reasonable, the service not too good.
Breakfast the next morning was a complete transformation, helpful friendly staff who put the customers first.
P.
Good service with friendly staff. Drinks and food excellent value too.
W. S.
Carvery 7/10 so not the best but not the worst ..kids enjoyed soft play .. typical family pub
S. T.
Been here for breakfast a few times and it's alright. Sometimes doesn't have everything that is promised on the menu for the continental style breakfast but the hot breakfast is nice.
S. A.
Lovely food and setting. The burger was delicious, the staff were really friendly and the place was spotlessly clean.
K. A.
Popped in with my son whilst waiting to collect his brother close by. The staff were so friendly and attentive and the food was ok, what you expect from a brewers fayre pub however it wouldn't be my first choice when paying for a meal out.
A. D.
Overly food good atmosphere and an excellent choice of beers.
A. L.
Had a very nice meal and good Portion size and all well cooked, used taster card to get 2 for 1
L. O.
Clean hotel friendly staff lovely brewers fayre opposite can't fault it 5 stars from us
I. W.
We all had a great time, staff very friendly food good, children had a great time in play area. Good value for money. Will return. Children very content. Happy Days.😃😃
D. A. H.
Came to Durham for the day & popped in here mainly so the kids can release their energy in the big indoor play area they have.
All I can say is a big thank you for the staff who are so friendly & welcoming our server Carl's was amazing & they do so much for you.
Definitely will return, amazing family restaurant
S. G.
Although very short staffed (isn't everywhere), they were very helpful and doing there best. We'll done.
S. G.
Popped in for quick drink before booking into Premier Inn
s. b.
1st visit with my daughter and grandson..Food was fab and excellent value. My 3 yr old grandson played in soft play. The young girl in there was fab! We all had drinks, ate and played for well under £20.00. Will definitely be back!
(Not posting as Steven but his wife)
L. C.
Brewers fayre is a brewers fayre. Cheap and cheerful, staff were really friendly, place was clean. Breakfast hit the spot and dinner was lovely as well. Just a roll out of bed and you're there.
M. S.
Friendly service, nice restaurant withnice food for a a good price,
S. V.
Decor and staff excellent, very bright and friendly. The food range very standard, OK but nothing special, not bad though.
J. M.
Had a very pleasant meal here, tasty food at reasonable prices. The service we received was excellent especially from Sarah B. (Sorry about the B but didn't ask her surname. She's a real credit to the restaurant. Look forward to the next visit
G. M.
Food is good. Prices are reasonable and the staff were all friendly. Never seen any of them that didn’t have a smile on their face!
C. F.
Lovely food visited yesterday with 3 children aged 4, 5 and 6, customer service was excellent! And food delicious it really was, the kids played in the soft play area and parking was free and ample, I will definately be back!
L. E.
Lovely food good selection all fresh , staff lovely
D. C.
Really friendly staff and good service. We didn't eat but the little ones went in the indoor soft play and then the outdoor play area. Kept them all amused for roughly 2 hours. Will be going back!
A. B.
Brilliant place to eat thank you for serving us without a massive wait, the service was really good!
D. H.
Standard chain pub food , but I've come here countless times and I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal . Always cooked properly and hot .
H. F.
We really enjoyed our time here. Extremely friendly staff they're a real credit. Children loved the outdoor play area. Indoor one still closed. One way system in place which works well when people actually followed it!
Only criticism was that no one was wearing a mask at the hot or cold food buffet at breakfast. Staff didn't ask people to wear one. I feel that masks should have been worn especially around food.
T. I.
The usual type of pub food with a few bits that stand out - the baked salmon and the burrito salad were very good. The breakfast was very nice and a wide choice of items - didn't find anything poor quality, and I tried a lot! Excellent friendly staff and a soft play area inside and small play area outside. The indoor was £3 for 90 minutes, and only for under 140cm
L. T.
Sunday lunch is beautiful here and you get plenty of meat
M. S.
Staff here are very friendly, it's a cosy place but the limited menu and the fact that a few items on the menu were not available was a let down for me.
Apart of that its a nice place with ample parking and space for the little ones.
i. m.
Good food although service slow including a long wait before being seated even though we booked in advance.
R. M.
Great breakfast, fresh and tasty!
S.
Spent a few hours here with family on a Sunday (4th July). Staff were very attentive and a pleasure and made us welcome.
I commented on this to management when we left. Better than other Brewers Fayre I've been in. Would go back.
R. B.
Staff are brilliant and very welcoming. Have had breakfast and dinner there this week and it hit the spot. Very convenient as it is attached to the Premier Inn. No complaints here :)
S. J.
A call out to lady who served us on first morning Sat 22 June. She went out of her way to accommodate us and ensured my daughter had her breakfast vegan. Exceptional and friendly service. A nice welcome to Durham!
B. B.
Always a great place to eat, although staff dependant they do often get the burgers wrong when we try to remove salad etc for hubby or son, it all depends on whose in kitchen and can get annoying when sending it back three visits in a row but if the right staff are in it's fantastic.
D. R.
Been here a few times. Decent steaks. Carvery not good.
L. C.
Usual slow service at the bar, mediocre food, expensive play area which hasn't seen an over haul for years. Plus £4.50 per child!!! When one of them spent about 10 minutes in the play area.
Won't be going back in a Hurry
T. R.
The food was ok, nothing spectacular but wasn't going in with high expectations either. The staff were friendly and helpful, although we had to wait quite a while for the food to arrive. The nearby Newton Grange does much better food for a similar price. However the soft play area was excellent for the kids, so would recommend coming here if you want something for the kids to do too.
S. A.
Very friendly staff and good service. Food is very filling and delicious. Nice little play park for kids or an indoor play area for them too. Definitely recommend dinner here.
I. C.
Like every other Brewers Fare, food served hot, staff friendly. Very busy with families using soft play area but did not effect us too much.
P. C.
We visit regular and been here this evening ( 3rd August)for evening meal.
Ordered food which arrived within 15 minutes,Emma who was working was very polite , attentive and a real bubbly person and a credit to Brewers Faye.
P. D.
A friendly welcome, with typical Brewers Fayre food and drink. Perfect for my overnight stay at the Premier Inn next door.
A. S.
The staff and service are always excellent. The breakfast offer is amazing, very well priced and brilliant quality.
P. J.
Excellent service and food was delicious for me.
C. H.
Waitress called (Isabella) was so welcoming when we walked thro the door asked if we wanted to order breakfast as they were nearly finishing serving them then showed us to a table.
After placing our order my husband took our 2yr old grandson into soft play area the young member of staff working inside was also friendly and helpful. We can't find fault with anything the 3 staff who were on that morning were all exceptional. Excellent service thanks. Can't fault the breakfast lots of choice.
B. G.
Food is pricey and in a very quiet pub we had a long wait portions were fair but not all that big
Service was lovely but wouldn't return
B. S.
It was good food was good staff was friendly very nice
G. H.
Don't get the wings with, or loaded chips...
They're horrid...
Breakfast was good... Sausages and black pudding was lush... Buffet..
M. C.
Visited here this morning for breakfast with my friend. The place was very clean, so much to choose from. Continental and/or Full English cooked breakfast, hot drinks and fruit juice. The cooked breakfast was freshly cooked and served, not sat for hours under heat lamps. Excellent quality. The staff were very pleasant and helpful although the same can't be said for some impatient customers. It wasn't expensive and I can highly recommend it. We'll definitely visit again.
D. L.
Always happy with service and quality of food at Dunelm Ridge. Not been disappointed.
R. W.
Fine as Brewers fayres go but disappointed to see no staff and very few of the customers wearing masks, considering how high covid levels were in and around Durham at the time of our visit. It was not explained to us that there was a qr code on the table and we could have avoided queuing at the bar to order.
5. Y.
Lovely and clean staff can't do enough to help great beer and the food was absolutely beautiful will certainly be returning
M. D.
A decent size pub with a small indoor and also outdoor childrens play area. The indoor play area has a number of tables where you can eat and also watch the children. It can get noisy. There are other quieter areas in the main The food is tasty with delicious Sunday carvery lunch and a good priced two meals Mon-Fri. Worth a visit
m.
Service very good. Food as expected, good size portions and 2 for 1 during daytime is very reasonable. Paid £3 for the soft play area for my granddaughter which kept her busy and entertained. Toilet facilities were clean and had disabled and baby changing.
S. R.
Have eaten here several times before and it's pretty much what you expect from Brewers Fayre - we ate mid afternoon so got the "two for .." deal. Food not quite as good as normal this time, but nothing bad enough to send it back. Soft drinks consistently expensive, always are - they have to make money somehow I suppose. All in all, 4 out of 5 is fair I feel. We'll be back again I'm sure, it's convenient and consistent.
A. B.
Good food, and well priced. However, the service was painfully slow on several occasions, and one of our party had a gluten intolerance, who found it difficult to make an informed choice without needing advice from the manager. In this instance, a more clearly labeled menu would've made things much easier.
P. H.
All precautions in place so it felt safe eating out, unfortunately as in other places the play area was closed. We all enjoyed our meal and service was excellent. The bonus was the eat out to help out.
S. T.
I always enjoy going to the Brewer's Fayre. I came with some friends to have a meal and play some of my own board games. We had a nice quiet table at the side and the drinks and meal were fine. Service is usually good here and it is a pleasant family pub. One order was forgotten but after chasing it up, they quickly brought it to my table.
C. C.
The family and I reguarly visit this restaurant, always nice. Food is nice for what you pay, staff very friendly and plenty to keep the children occupied. Nice atmosphere and inside is clean and tidy. We choose to come here rather than our local Brewers Fayre (extra 7 mile) which is the best compliment I can give.
W. B.
Had a meal here wast too bad did find it rather cold in here however staff said there was air conditioning on it wasn't warm.
G. O.
I liked it. A clean and friendly place. Food was great and the beer was cold. It's a bit awkward to get to but that's not their fault.
F. T.
Great fun in the soft play for my little girl we take her here often and she always loves it, the outdoor play area is also really good! Staff are friendly and coffee/teas are refillable. Food is a little pricey for what it is but still this place is a winner for anyone with young families!
J. H.
Pretty decent was a tad short on a few things on the menu but was overall better than most of this type of Premier inn/pub
E. D. H.
Warm and welcoming atmosphere. Great for families as the children's soft play will keep them occupied though will cost you £3 a head before food or drinks. Children's drinks are way too pricey. Food is reasonably priced and a good variety.
s. m.
Disappointed with my chicken on the chicken and ribs ombo. Overcooked and wafer thin like eating cardboard. Ribs were nice. Not usually like this have always enjoyed it in the past.
G. P.
Great food and the staff are fantastic.
L. H.
It was lovely to get all my family together although the lady who helped organise the balloons for the table etc was fantastic, the serving staff could do with a brush up.
They just seemed to be wandering in groups collecting one plate at a time. The birhday cake was brought after asking for it twice with no plates or forks or a knife to cut it so we did have to ask for these things twice also.
The food wasnt fantastic for the price it seems to have gone abit bland since I last went there just seems like everything is warmed up rather than cooked which is a shame a their food use to be amazing.
The kids loved the play area that has always been a winner.
J. G.
We go once a month for a meal and are always pleased with our meal and service.
E. W.
Food was OK but expensive for what is essentially Wetherspoons fare. Annoying you have to pay extra for the soft play as well.
L. C.
Food is nice, can be a bit chaotic at busy periods. Kids play area is great. Soft drinks may be expensive but they're refillable for £2.79. So if you plan on being here a while it's worth the price.
A. M.
Went on Friday night and they were quite busy but alas the food although adequate was yet again COLD this is the second time I have had cold food in this place sadly it will be the last cold steak and chips does not appeal to me so if you want cold food then this is the place for you marks out of 10.probably 1
S. C.
Very convenient for the Premier Inn next door. Always enjoy the continental breakfast which has a good selection. Also have a bowl of porridge as part of this choice. Evening meals not as good but the burgers are good. Staff are always attentive and helpful.
R. R.
Have eaten here several times over the last few weeks as staying at the attached Premier Inn. Food OK - what you would expect from this type of establishment. Some of the staff very friendly, some not so much. The older lady who does breakfast was particulary pleasant. The cleanliness of the toilets have something to be desired and please do something about the awful creaking the kitchen 'out' door!
J.
Well looked after as usual. Birthday party treat with family for breakfast. Staff really helpful food lovely and help yourself so everyone really full. Kids played inside and out. It shares the area with the Premier Inn and their customers use it for food etc.
D. S.
Food was very nice but bar staff don't seem to know what they're doing. Took four explanations to order two drinks and one was a diet cola. They tell you that you can run a tab to pay at the end but then come to your table five minutes later to ask for payment!!
J. G.
Food was delicious and nicely priced. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
H. S.
Great family friendly restaurant. The wacky warehouse is a godsend for keeping our toddler happy on a grey and rainy day as it's open quite late on weekends. Food is always good value and decent for the style of restaurant.
L. W.
Dunelm Ridge Brewer's Fayre restaurant - I visited with my mam for lunch (we often do this and although we frequent different places, we always end up back here.) The restaurant is quite large with different areas to sit and a closed off small soft play area that also has seating inside (height limit on soft play and it's a few pound for each child. Round about £4.) The staff in here are very friendly and helpful. When I go in here with my mam on a lunchtime we usually eat from the lunchtime special offer menu which still has a very good choice of meals but you can also order off the main menu on a lunchtime too so there is a large variety of meals on offer... I can highly recommend the chicken tikka, haddock and chips, the different burgers and the Sunday carvery (which I often come to with the whole family) is absolutely gorgeous with a good range of vegetables to go along with your choice of meat and ofcourse the must have Yorkshire Pudding! Prices are very reasonable here. Meals are delicious. They also do a fantastic children's menu and a dessert menu (I love the cheesecake or caramel apple Betty!) They have ample parking outside which has adjoining travel lodge (which is useful for visitors commuting into Durham City and also about 10 minutes from the A1 and just off the A167). Situated behind the Arnison Centre retail park for essentials or shopaholics too. They have a lovely beer garden for the warmer months and an outer play area for the kids. Would highly recommend a visit!
K. A.
Our favourite local pub. Great staff, warm cosy atmosphere. A wide range of food choices. We have tried most, and have never had a complaint. Kids are kept in one area beside the kids play area.
A. M.
Very tasty food nice atmosphere
A. C.
Cheap food
Slow service time
Have to ask for mains to be cleared for desserts
Not enough staff
C. B.
Family friendly with small soft play area indoors and one outdoors when weather good.
Also offers other no children quiet areas.
Big screen for sports in bar area.
Buffet nights and standard food, good value.
Accessible parking
A. H.
Very much a chain offering, we had a problem with one meal but it was sorted very quickly and professionally
A. R.
Experience was heavily marred by two drunken "fathers" who'd rather throw their kids in the soft play and drink all day, then cause a riot by arguing with the management over a 99p bowl of chips. They were eventually asked to leave but we'd moved out of the kids play area by that time as their language and behaviour was FAR from what we'd expect in the kids section of the restaurant... However the food was good, and the manager came to apologise for their behaviour before we left.
B. B.
Hubby and I stayed at the Premier Inn next door and had breakfast twice at Dunelm Ridge which was great. We decided to book for evening meal too and were very impressed with the friendly staff, relaxing environment and the food was surprisingly excellent.. ..so much so we returned for our second night.
G. S.
Food and service in the soft play area is great tho the lack of supervision in the soft play area because they only have 1 memeber of staff doing it all and waiting on the table aint really there best idea esp when adults cant go in to check whats going. This then allows bigger kids that maybe shouldn't be in there bully and push little ones would be the only reason i would maybe take a star off but in general not bad and the food is great to
L. F.
Great food and good for Kids with the play area
K. W.
Went here with family for Sunday lunch. Really enjoyed it too. Lots of people there but the service was good. Enjoyed meal and price was fair. Would definitely return.
J. J.
Friendly staff, good food, and not much waiting time. Would recommend the eton mess sundae.
C. B.
Definitely a solid option for lunch. Great value on the daytime menu- tasty food with decent quality ingredients and fair portions. Unlimited refills on soda really made a difference. Will probably be back for the all you can eat burger & hotdog night!
k. w.
Friendly staff and great prices! We ordered off the set menu and I was pleasantly suprised at how nice the food was! We are looking forward to visiting again.
D. H.
The lady who works in the play area section called Emma is amazing, she is always welcoming and super happy. My daughter Poppy loves to see her and chat with her.
C. M.
Excellent value food and served piping hot. Service was slower on our second visit.but staff friendly and helpful.
K. W.
Great breakfast as always. Fab choice and perfect poached eggs.
J. R.
Food is always good. I had a naked burger and my partner had a carvery. His carvery looked delicious. My only complaint is that the salad I had with my burger was quite acidic.
S. B.
The head server was excellent and very friendly. Didn't catch her name. She was working on the Tuesday night and Also there at breakfast on the Wednesday morning
K. B.
We eat here at least 2 times a month, it seems to be the only brewer's that don't cremate your food. The staff are always friendly and the soft play area is great on a weekday but a bit crazy on a weekend. The only grumble I have is there's not enough options for vegetarians which puts me off going because I get sick of having the same thing.
L. C.
Never had a bad meal in here yet. Staff are always helpful and friendly.
K. G.
The prices were very expensive. Had a Tandoori mixed grill which looked amazing on the menu photo but when it arrived I was very disappointed. It was £15.99 I could have got a nice Indian meal elsewhere and would have enjoyed it. No very appetising at all.😣
T. H.
I had paid for a meal by mistake that I hadn't ordered and when it arrived and we questioned this the manager without delay or questioning refunded the price of meal. Too many places when this happens make you feel guilty. Excellent friendly staff so we returned in morning for breakfast which while not being fancy was great value.
P. B.
Great breakfast and evening meals
Very welcoming and efficient service.
D. H.
Food was okay, not as good as the Harvester we sometimes visit at Ryehope as we vvisit both for the indoor play area and lunch or an early dinner. Seemed a bit tired, understaffed and mediocre when we last visited. Needs a refresh and better food.
B. S.
Good honest food at the Brewers Fayre. Extensive menu with regular special meals each week night.
Service is good and quality is to a standard.
It is always busy with a regular trade from the nearby Premier Inn.
Special deals available before 6.00pm.
V. G.
Absolutely beautiful food highly recommended staff are so helpful polite and and to help in any way felt our stay for the weekend was worth every penny spent see you all again very soon guys 😁
R. H.
Not a great place for smaller children. There is a toddler play area, but it’s connected to the bigger one, and bigger children run trough, jumping off the soft play and throwing the toddler toys. It’s fine if you have a bigger child or if there is no one else there.
A. L.
Went for a catch up and a meal. Food was ok but had a chocolate fudge cake with a "salted caramel" filling which was awful but they took it off the bill. Friendly staff and they do 25% discount for blue light card holders.
M. N.
Spot on for breakfast just under 10quid each for breakfast you would think is a bit steep but its all you can eat and drink and plenty of selection. 3 coffees, 4 glasses of juice, pancakes to start with golden syrup and Nutella, pan au chocolat then a full hot breakfast. An hour well spent.
R. P.
Really nice place with good food.
Lost a star because the roof started dripping from loafs of places under heavy rain and the staff basically said "Yeah, we're used to it". Not fair on them, the management need to invest in fixing the roof.
Z. T.
I met my lovely friends and children here today for lunch. Food was lovely and staff were very friendly and helpful especially when it was really busy. Big thank you to Carla for sorting food order. Thank you !
k. r.
Went for a carvery. I really enjoyed what was there, but I think there should be a bigger variety of vegetables. When we arrived we were told just to find somewhere to sit. When I've visited in the past we've been sat somewhere by staff.
R. D.
I have a gluten intolerance and i wouldnt say they have the best choice of gluten free food e.g no gluten free burger buns for burgers, no gluten free tortilla wraps for buddha bowl and no gluten free bbq glaze for ribs. All basic things other places have GF these don't. However, play area is good for kids and safe were friendly.
K.
First of all the positives:-
1. Friendly staff and couldn't be more helpful.
2. Very clean and in good condition.
3. Staff well trained and trying to upsell tea, coffees , deserts etc.
Negatives:--
1. Expensive unless you're taking a deal for example pre paid premier inn voucher or after noon deal.
2. Mass produced chain food.
M. A.
Service was FIRST CLASS, food was all delicious too. 2 adults and on free child so price was quite reasonable too. 3 full tummy's later and looking forward to our next visit!
L. W.
Average bar meal, husbands was lovely although chips were frozen, I got Yorkshire pudding wraps, and very tough to cut, but edible, staff were very friendly and looked after us well although they did not ask if everything was ok
S. D.
Lovely hot breakfast (help yourself) and all the staff are fantastic and can't do enough for you, very friendly and helpful!
D. T.
Been coming here for twenty years, lovely staff, food is okay, steaks are best value. Bit pricey for drink.
L. W.
The food is just ok, not the worst but definitly not the best.. its great for entertaing kids tho.
A. H.
Staff really friendly, we had a waitress called Emma and she was amazing with my two sons.
Food was lovely too.
N. C.
Great food. Good service
M.
Great Food, great atmosphere, toilets very clean, menus easy to read and plenty for the kids to do. Very family friendly and the staff were really good too.
R. E.
Not up to the usual standards no storage space very small wardrobe
Disabled room along way from main door
S. B.
Had a lovely night. However not the right booze in for the cocktails they have on offer the last twice we have been in. Shortage of Champagne glasses and. cocktail glasses too. Big queues all night when paying for food or drinks
D. G.
Friendly staff, great selection of food, great little kids play area
S. G.
Great staff and meals always pleasant and welcoming. Food always good when I've had it .Only bad point is the size of the soft play which isn't there fault really with the space they have.
S. W.
Just the standard Brewers Fayre, no better or no worse than any other. It was fairly quiet when we were there so no waiting to order and food came quickly. It started to get busier as we were eating, mainly with families.
A. C.
Breakfast: good food, lots of choice. Only 4 stars because I asked for the racket (music?) to be turned down and I got the ridiculous answer that it cannot be done because it is set. I don't like being treated like a fool.
G. O.
Only used the kids play area, as I'd taken my grandson for a run out. It's smaller than others we've visited but well kept. Good choice of food and drink for the kids.
R. G.
Calm and relaxing sat in the bar area. Very good choice of food and drinks. Very good value. I also have a Brewers Fayre club card which collects points wether lm just meeting a friend for coffee or having a meal with my husband on a saterday evening and l also recieve emails of good offers like 40% off main meals which is an amazing saving!
C. M.
Helpful Staff Good to bring the kids. Food and drink decent value. It's great to be able to enjoy meal and the kids can run some steam off in play area.
A. S.
Due to local lockdown walked in with my family we got seperated whilst most of us had an area to themselves others had to share and area no bigger than our sitting room with strangers at 2 other tables.... sort it out Boris. I can catch covid from strangers but not my own family shouldn't that be my choice
L. S.
Had a lovely meal with the family, staff friendly and helpful, service was good, nice clean and tidy place, value for the money you pay.
o. b.
Food was great, wasn't very busy but the tables took ages to be cleared. And we had a wait for our meals to arrive. My neice loved the softplay area
S. R.
Very nice place, friendly staff and nice food. We did have an issue with my wife's meal the first night but the staff were excellent and fixed the problem very quickly.
D. S.
TUESDAY 4th February - Visited for lunch arrived just before 11.30am ordered meal and waited about 15mins the freshly cooked meal was excellent and the staff very pleasant and efficient. Will certainly go again
A. L.
Breakfast, good variety of cooked and continental. Excellent coffee and great value for money.
t. c.
Good selection of food and decent prices, staff are friendly and make you feel welcome enough. Shame the christmas burger wasn't on though.
R. J.
The place was lovely however I thought the food was expensive for the quality.
Also there is a soft play area, I thought would be free at least if you were purchasing a child meal however had to pay for each child.
J. L.
Service wasn't very good. The waiter came back twice to check our order. The meals were okay. The children enjoyed the play area
F. M.
About time, menu has changed. If you on Thursday go for Curry night. The curry dish on the menu(tutru??) Is OK but not worth having twice.Like all Brewers fare good food well cooked, pleasant staff, decent beer, quiet night sleep.
B. w.
OMG the best porridge you will ever have. Good breakfast and good choice for evening meal.
Staff are tentative and friendly, would recomend a visit even if not stopping at the hotel.
B. D.
Decent pub grub but the main benefit for us us the soft play area. This meant our son could play before and after his meal while we talked with friends.
W. A.
Lovely meal great for kids
K. A.
Decent food, decent atmosphere, helpful staff and a play area for younger kids, an easy way to fill an afternoon, we went New Years day and could still book a table, no complaints.
E. L.
Really good food and service. I would only say 1 thing and that is that the food was only slightly warm but other than that really enjoyed the food.
C.
A bit of a wait for food, but it was nice- shame we were asked if we wanted any sauces and then they weren't brought!
a. t.
Not bad, food was a bit well done but nice all the same
S. B.
Straight forward food and low prices we felt. Nothing really stood out as great or bad.
A. M.
Food was nice only problem was shortage of desserts from there menu 5 where unavailable.
M. W.
Buffet style hot breakfast , No soap in ladies or gents by 10:30 . Not great when sharing food handles. Staff polite , food tasty
J. C.
Food was alright, chicken a little dry. Atmosphere is lively mostly because of the old people drinking but it's a good place to sit around.
S. D.
Food arrived cold. But ok
A. L.
Expensive for a pub (£10-£20 meals) but food is good. For £3 pp the little ones can also have a run around the soft play area.
A. “. R.
Really nice place to eat. Breakfast for two adults and two kids (all you can eat) for £18. Lovely food too. Cannot fault the place
R. S.
Great family pub, sometimes service is slow as they don't have enough staff but it's always good food and atmosphere, good play area for the kids too.
R. C.
For me the best in the country, and we've ate at quite a few, so tasty, and so friendly.
This is the one the group needs to excel too
S. G.
Grandson had an amazing time in the play room. The food was excellent
G. M.
Good food. Soft play was clean and staff were great.
F. S.
Warm and friendly atmosphere a lot of the meals are very good. But what lets them down are the chips, they usually
are poor and cold
J. H.
good company
bit slow on ordernging srcond drink due to fotgetful costomer. othetwise fast and efficient service. pleasant evemning. with friends. staff very friendly and stayed in background. good time all round
G. T.
It's a brewer's fayre, but the staff are all friendly, toilets were clean, and food was definitely better than in previous visits to other branches. I'd definitely visit again.
J. S.
Slightly out of the way for Durham, slightly pricey for the northeast, but excellent food selection (I especially enjoyed breakfast) and friendly service. A must if staying at the Premier Inn.
C. E.
Nice food.. but shame when we came on fri the 14 play park was so full kids could not go in and play. Would have been nice to be told befor been seated as that's the only reson we went in the first place, so very upset kids
a. w.
Delicious food. Very helpful as we had a wheelchair user with us. Value for money and very tasty
R. C.

C. J.
Nice meal ,good value normal pub chain ,the difference being Vanessa, what a brilliant, nice, pleasant attentive waitress, who could not do anymore to help you ,such an asset
P. w.
Met my dad here for lunch and a coffee. Food delicious, refillable hot drinks. Staff very professional. Will definitely be back.
M. D.
Had nice meal .think it's a bit much to pay £3.00 each for children to play in play area though.especially when we all had 3course meals
C. G.
Food was great one of the girls working here made a real fuss of Buster kept coming to see him he loved the attention and the sausagea
j. w.
Lovely staff, a rather reduced menu....due to going into lockdown again..other than that, no complaints.
T. B.

Visited today with family , lady who was taking our orders at the till must of been poorly ,hardly any voice and she was sucking a throat sweet not pleasant to hear or healthy to be near .Finished our meal , another lady came to clear our table and proceeded to start scraping the leftovers onto one plate spilling some on my daughters arm .Staff training needed on health and Safety .
W. R.
Very good food and value
S. B.
Wholesome, well presented pub grub all provided by friendly staff to covid rules. Well done.
c. a.
Went today, it was cold ended up sitting with coats on, someone complained but nothing happened. Meal was ok but not as good as other brewers fayres we've been too
J. C.
Has a very strange offer. The menu advertises a glass of wine for £1.99?
But the staff don't know what it means!

Staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was OK and reasonably priced for what you got.
C. F.

K. S.
Haven't tried the lunch & evening menu, but friendly, helpful staff & plentiful choice of fresh, cooked & baked goods for breakfast.
B. F.
Perfectly adequate for families with children and reasonably priced. The play area outside could benefit a bit of a tidy up and fresh paint
A. B.
Food was nice from here, and it also has a play area to keep the kids entertained whilst waiting for the meal to arrive.
M. B.

Decent food at a decent price. Not somewhere you would go for a date but ideal if you have kids and fancy a change from the Toby or a Wetherspoons
P. E. R.
