Lovely little place, missed by many I guess as it's not on the main strip. Over a couple of levels the downstairs offers a tidy little bar area with what looks like a good range of gins and cocktails if that's what you're after. Upstairs is more for eating and has a couple of different varied rooms. Server was lovely, chatty and genuine - a bit of a change from some of the other places I've been to. Food menu was short but that seemed to mean they did each dish well. We had a 'proper' cheeseburger and a veggie lentil Dahl, plus a beer and cocktail - didn't shock me on the price and I'll definitely return when in town.

Our first visit here, but certainly not our last. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by very friendly and attentive staff and the excellent service continued throughout. We had a table for 2 with stunning views of the River Wear and Durham Castle. The food certainly didn't disappoint either. The confit of duck was absolutely stunning and the Eton Mess to finish was the best I've ever had. After finishing the staff managed to find us a table in the vip room where we finished with drinks. Outstanding.

Fantastic selection of beer on draught, food was fantastic and to a very HIGH standard, as a chef myself I wasn't expecting this high standard in the pub. The bey pork was very good indeed 👍🏻👍🏻 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

A fantastic bar with stunning views of Durham cathedral and castle. A good selection of cocktails ,beers and lagers. Sunday lunch is available as well as bar snacks. All of the staff are very friendly and attentive.My favourite place in Durham as it a great place to sit and just people watch.

Had a absolutely amazing experience at the curious mr fox, My partner and I where visiting Durham for a business trip and where looking for a nice place for dinner when we came across this restaurant, it’s got a very unique exterior style that caught our eye. This unique decor is continued on the inside of the venue, extremely pretty. We had the pleasure of being seated and hosted by Matt and Jack who honestly made our evening both where extremely chill . Unfortunately we where in a rush but hopefully this gets back to the chef of that night our dinner was lovely and our dessert was divine ( the best meringue my partner has ever had). And if you’re looking for a pretty restaurant with a chilled atmosphere to finish off you visit to Durham I would strongly recommend this amazing hidden gem ! Thanks

Amazing views, beautiful interior, and fantastic customer service. A little hidden gem reminding me of similar places you’d expect to see in London’s Soho; uprooted and placed in the heart of Durham

Great pub great atmosphere and staff, drinks have reduced since opening as one of the past owners set the bar way too high now in line with most Durham City center bars, please try it the food is good as well cheers.
