We booked to go in for a family meal but couldn’t due to one family member been ill. Tias kindly agreed to cancel our booking and provide a takeaway instead. They prepare a our food order in 15 mins. The food was delicious, the Mexican chicken and blackened Caribbean chicken was out of this world. BBQ ribs were also gorgeous. I will be going their again without a doubt. Highly recommended. Be mindful of parking in loading bays as parking attendants are over zealous and wouldn’t let me stop even too pick up my food.

Came for Saturday dinner with friends. Staff were attentive and helpful. Food arrived promptly considering how busy they were. Food was hot, tasty and flavourful. Tia's is the best in Durham for an all-rounder Mexican Restaurant. Hit it up during happy hour (5-7 Mon-Fri) for cheap, authentic beers, served in iced glasses - one of the best restaurant experiences in the city. There are also other deals for iced margaritas/etc. Food is great. Simple staples, done super well. Like the drinks, you can grab all kinds of discounted meals during happy hour. I'd highly recommend the chimichangas as a main, and loaded nachos to share!

Booked very last minute and they fit us in, lovely cosy place. Staff made the 5 stars, long wait due to it being a Saturday but they do their best to accommodate you. The lovely woman gave me a cocktail on the house to apologise and the food was gorgeous.

We had dinner here based on its proximity to our hotel and the good reviews. The menu has a good range of options all of which are reasonably priced, they also had some specials. There are a few reasons for three stars. When we arrived the restaurant was virtually empty but they made a big fuss about fitting us in which might if been justified if they were then going to be busy but even by the time we left there were more empty tables than occupied and they had taken more walk ins whilst we were there. I had a house Sangria which was a glass of ice with not much actual drink that I finished very quickly, as the server walked by they grabbed my glass and ran off not even asking if I wanted anything else. The food was good except the hand cut chips which for me were mostly crispy bits rather than proper chips. It was ok but not somewhere we would go back to when there are so many other options.

Wonderful spot we wandered into on vacation, everything we ordered was fantastic (maybe the best Mexican dish I had? It was a polo mira-something. To top off the good experience,, the waitress was very helpful and friendly to a few out of town touristy types. Thanks Tia's!

The food was good enough i forgot to take many photos, which should say something. Their onion rose is to kill for (the Americans call it blooming onion). Had ribs for my main course which were so tender the meat practically fell off them. All in all food was amazing and very reasonably priced during happy hour (5-7pm) as are the drinks. Bucket of 6 beers is £12, jugs of cocktails are £10 for the house cocktails, a bit more for a jug of margarita. Great place to start an epic night out.

The food is pretty basic for what you pay but is generally good. A pleasant atmosphere although the skillets make the place a bit smokey and there isn't much room between tables. Staff are lovely and friendly.

Gluten free heaven Hands down the best food I’ve eaten in Durham. I’m celiac and the menu is packed with dishes. Not like the usual places where there’s a select few options there is a full menu to choose from. When ordering I was reassured about cross contamination which always puts the mind at ease. Nachos and hanging beef kebab were excellent but the garlic bread stole the show. Being gluten free bread is a distant memory now. Their gluten free garlic bread was that good it felt wrong eating it thinking it was normal garlic bread. 10/10 this place from the service, atmosphere and food.

I went here on Friday 3rd September 2021 in a group of 6. We had a brilliant night. The food was excellent - full of flavour, plenty of it, and lots of choice. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and the service was excellent. We were made to feel very welcome and I will go again. The prices are reasonable and there's plenty of choice on the drinks menu. You do need to pre-book. There were no spare tables when we were there. Its a small friendly restaurant and definitely deserves a 5☆ rating.

Top Mexican food - I had the 'platter' as I wanted to try both the chimichanga and enchilada (and might as well try 2 different fillings), and not sure which I preferred so would have to get this again! The onion 'rose' is definitely worth having, and could be shared between 2-4 people as a starter. Good selection of cocktails, and I wish I'd had more time to sample the tequila menu! Can't fault the staff either.

Nicely decorated with tasty Tex-Mex food. Quite small so best to book. The food was flavoursome and portion sizes were deceptively large. The sound bounces around the dining room so it can be a little noisy if there is a chatty party.

My wife and I spent a great evening here. Full Social Distancing requirements in place (temperature check, hand sanitisation and even options in WC of optional extra sanitisation - wipes etc) but this didn't spoil the atmosphere - it still feels like a really cozy place. A lovely Mexican restaurant in the centre of Durham. My partner and I enjoyed a delicious three course meal (with drinks obvs 😁) and couldn't find fault with anything whatsoever. Lovely, attentive service and a nice, unhurried atmosphere. It makes sense to pre-book a table as I should imagine this restaurant is very busy at weekends (we went mid week). They are taking social distancing extremely seriously and temperature check all guests upon arrival. Would I go back to Tia's... 🤔, too right I would. Highly recommended.

Went for the first time a few days ago. The nachos were very good, although the chili con carne we had with them was a little bland. I'd definitely like to visit again after seeing the fajitas other people in my group ordered (although they all said they needed more wraps for the amount of filling provided). The restaurant has wonderful staff, and offers a fantastic selection of Mediterranean and Mexican dishes. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The hanging kebabs in particular were a spectacular display. If you are the adventurous type you may wish to take Tia's Tequila Worm Challenge - a small bottle of tequila with an Agave Worm inside, you must consume the tequila and the worm to win the certificate. It is important to note however, that the restaurant is not wheelchair accessible and the toilets are located on the first floor. Overall I would recommend Tia's, the food was fantastic and the atmosphere was great.

I work here so I feel like I can't really talk too much as I am somewhat biased... That being said, Google sees that I'm here all the time and demands a review... The chicken nachos (ask for them to be spicy) and steak fajitas (cooked rare, of course) is something I could eat every day until I die. I've also had the tias rose (go with garlic mayo), potato skins, chili beef enchiladas and various pizzas and garlic breads which are all pretty tasty. One of the servers here (Nicola) is really good on allergens (especially for coeliacs) so you can eat here safely if you have any special requirements. Love you guys ✌️
