Reviews of Aurora
O. K. K.
Wonderful place. While the space itself is rather small, the atmosphere was great and the restaurant managed to still feel spacious. Once we arrived we received a little beetroot soup as we looked through the menu. The dishes themselves were wonderful with a large range of flavoured and textures. I find the risotto the most memorable. The wines added a superb depth to the experience, each picked to match the strong points of the dishes. Also, the service was sublime. All in all a great experience which I will think about for a long time
N. H.
Worthy tasting menu with lovely mixture of flavours and styles and with some very interesting dishes. Small and cosy restaurant with friendly service. Overall a very enjoyable experience at a reasonable price point. Definitely to be recommended.

Unfortunately I thought that the menu I had at Aurora didn’t live up to the good reviews. I found it represented poor value for money and was overly priced for what was served. I didn’t really get why it was a “tasting menu”.
I found 3 of the dishes on offer tasted the same salty flavour but one was meaty (oxtail), one fish (cod) and one had no discerning flavour just texture although lovely (rice). I thought that all dishes were served luke warm on cold plates. Some individual elements of dishes were nice by themselves but I found overall none of the plates of food really came together. The dessert (camomile ice cream) was a scoop of ice cream surprisingly laced with popping candy and some aromatic wafers on top. One amuse-bouche was a half crumpet topped with sautéed mushrooms, pine nuts and pomegranates that fell off when you tried to pick it up.
I found that if description of ingredients hadn’t been listed in the menus I wouldn’t have been able to taste them in the food. Overall although the dishes were presented beautifully with interesting ingredients although I thought actual cookery was basic.
I think that plating food nicely, using unusual ingredients and calling it a tasting menu unfortunately did not mask the disappointment of paying that amount for dishes of that calibre. I found it amateur.
Atmosphere, wine, service etc we’re all good and overall nothing unpleasant about the dinner. The above is just how I found the food and overall I felt that it simply wasn’t worth the money. Having ate at other similarly priced places after, on reflection it was very poor.
Hopefully it was a one off as it looks loads of other people really enjoyed it from the reviews.

We dined at Aurora for a New Years Eve treat and will definitely go down as one of our best New Years ever. The restaurant is intimate, beautifully designed and relaxing and the staff are friendly, welcoming and knowledgable. My partner is a chef so he was really excited by the well put together menu anyway but I’m a bit of a novice and didn’t really know what half the things were from the description so I was a little apprehensive and wondering if I’d enjoy it but my word, I’m still day dreaming about it now. Every single dish was a taste sensation, the combinations were absolutely delicious, it was incredible. What a wonderful experience, thank you so much x

What an amazing experience!
It was my first time in a restaurant serving by courses, but I am definitely overwhelmed...
Firstly, the environment is cozy and make you feel comfortably relaxed, the music combines perfectly with the vibe,
The staff is really friendly and ready to help with any doubt or question. I have started drinking a Bellfield IPA and then, started with the courses...
The food is absolutely great, the taste, the textures, the temperatures, the smells, the flavors, everything compound an ineffable experience!
To be honest, the Aurora is one step forward compared to any other experience in Edinburgh for a comparable cost (and it worth every £ spent)...
I really recommend to reserve a table on your last days in Edinburgh, thus you will leave with an extraordinary affective memory regarding your trip!
R.
Be warned…once you’ve eaten here you will always compare other food to it and always be disappointed!
This was an excellent 5 course tasting experience. The food was incredible, unique, tasty and every detail had been thought about. Even down to what plates to use - see photos.
The value is amazing. We paid £45 for the tasting menu which is exceptionally good value for the quality of food, how much you get and the experience.
The restaurant is fairly small but well laid out with enough space.
I would highly recommend trying this restaurant out if you are in Edinburgh. you will not be disappointed.
M. N.
Fabulous lunch with unusual ingredients and beautifully presented food. Wine flight was a little bit different too. Staff very friendly.
D. M.
Great service, Great food!
I've certainly paid more for similar tasting experiences (double in fact) and you defiently get a lot more than you pay for so I highly recommend planning a visit.
D. W.
Visited Aurora for dinner this weekend and had high expectations - they were very much met. The tasting menu really stretches your imagination in terms of innovative pairings, flavours and culinary choices. Each dish was really cooked to perfection, generous and served by knowledgable, capable staff. Would definitely say this was the highlight of our trip to Edinburgh and worth the trip into Leith. Get here before the Michelin stars pile in.
C. F.
Best vegan meal we’ve ever had. All the tasting menu courses were delicious and surprising. We had the wine pairing and the non-alcoholic drink pairing and were not disappointed. All drinks were very well paired and the non-alcoholic drinks in particular were totally unique. Well worth it. We also had extra vegan cheese board which again was incredible and the best vegan cheese we’ve ever had. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly and the decor is tasteful and welcoming. Highly recommended

The food was exceptional. We booked this restaurant during our one year weekend anniversary in Edinburgh and that was a very good choice. All the combinaison were smart and subtle, flavours were incredible. Selection of wine is unusual, we didn’t know any of the wine on the menu but the waiter helped us choose. They change their menu every two months at the moment, and it is probably better to book in advance as the restaurant is small.
T. M.
Had a birthday meal here in February with the winter tasting menu. Completely sublime, my favourite meal in years. From the beetroot veloute on entry to the wonderful selection of natural wines it was just a great meal. It's not somewhere we would eat often as it's above our budget, but for a special occasion I would recommend it to anyone. The wait staff were attentive, friendly and helpful.
If the restaurant does ever read these, one minor piece of feedback is that my venison was a little overdone and tougher than I like but I would still award 5 stars.
D. W.
Stunning, well thought out and delicious seven course meal. Would go as far to say one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The alcohol free pairing was incredible too. Definitely recommend and will be back !
M.
Small restaurant with interesting, carefully thought out, and beautiful dishes. The execution and results are not always convincing in my opinion, but overall I had a very good meal here. I definitely recommend any food lover to try it. Especially the lunch option is very appealingly priced.
M. M.
Located in the hearth of Leith, this cute little gem offers an extraordinary eating experience. As a typical modern European eatery it offers plates with very interesting combinations of old European herbs as well as the more popular modern Asian ones.
Price-wise it is definitely worth the experience!
R. A.
Super tasting menu with an interesting and very different wine flight. Chefs and front of house staff really do know what they are doing. Too many menu highlights to mention. Can't recommend highly enough.
A. R.
Hidden gem! Just had the most wonderful dining experience here, cannot fault it. Each course was well thought out and the accompanying wines were perfect. Whatever you do, don’t skip the cheese course.
B. G.
Great food. Really, very great food.
J. M.
My husband and I came here for a meal on valentine's day. The food was absolutely beautiful, delicately flavoured and cooked to perfection. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was lovely. We will definitely be back to try the test of the menu!
S. F.
Stunning food, audacious and bold to go for it on Great Junction Street. Lovely knowledgeable wine knowledge. Had the wine pairing with the tasting menu and it was divine. Will definitely be back for more :)
C.
What a little gem this place is! The food was fantastic. We had the pork cheek and the wild mushroom dish, absolutely delicious! The place is quite small so I would advise booking in advance. Staff were all lovely and the place has a cosy and intimate feeling. Highly recommend this place!
A. P.
Small friendly restaurant. I enjoyed the style of eating, ordering 4 dishes and enjoying one at a time. The braised pig cheek was my favourite! However 2 out of the 5 scallops served were tough and rubbery, very unpleasant.
L. J. B.
Got to be the hidden gem of Edinburgh. Food was amazing , paired wines were fantastic and attention to detail was second to none. Reasonable priced top class venue.
J. H.
Went specifically for the advertised vegetarian breakfast from the brunch menu, and we ordered one regular and one vegetarian - both very good! My meat-eating friend said the bacon was perfect. Nice modern place, reasonably priced good food. Would recommend.
D. G.
Flawless food, amazing service and great wine pairings. Visiting from London and this was one of the highlights of our weekend! A must visit
J. A.
Fantastic little hidden gem, the taste and quality of produce is just exquisite, and the friendly service is outstanding. There is simply no better brunch to be had anywhere in Edinburgh/Leith. Lunch and dinner dishes are also fantastic. No frills, full-on foodie experience. Love it ♥️
UPDATE: This is still absolutely true, in October 2019.
L. E.
Food, drinks and service very good. Eggs benedict with crispy bacon and delicious hollandaise sauce. Pork cheek and lobster bisque was absolutely amazing. Cheeks so tender and bisque so flavoursome. Buckfast martini and cherry negroni went down very well. Highly recommended!
C. J.
Superb tasting menu served with care, explanations and style. An intimate venue with relaxed atmosphere.
A. H.
After an exceptional evening at Aurora with my partner I can honestly say the experience was truly memorable. The dishes were done perfectly - with every flavour coming through to combine into a perfectly balanced meal. We started with an amuse-bouche that I won't be forgetting in a hurry. Following on from that was a fantastic lead through the courses, the cod and ravioli particularly stands out although the cheese plate and desert worked well for me.
My partner took a recommendation of wine which paired very well with the planned menu and fit her pallet perfectly.
The staff were friendly from the moment we stepped in until the moment we left, they were knowledgeable about the food and pairings and even sprinkled in interesting facts about the origins of the wine my partner had been recommended.
Overall, I can recommend this unique feeling restaurant in Edinburgh and whilst if you walked past it you might not notice it was there - you'd be all the better for stepping in and booking a table for the next meal!
M. H.
We had a super dinner here one recent Saturday night.
The place maybe tiny but full of ambition - sparkling fresh oysters to begin, luscious duck liver parfait to follow and excellent venison to finish.
Unusual wine choices were rewarding and very reasonably priced.
Service is friendly and relaxed.
M.
Wow, what an incredible experience. Every. Single. Dish. Was delicious!! Artfully curated menu & beautiful dishes. The wine was excellent too. Our waiter was just lovely! And, for such a high quality tasting menu, the value for money was incredible. A must if visiting Edinburgh - Leith is wonderful & well worth exploring (visit the artist-run community cafe opposite before dinner!)
B. R.
Had dinner here 16th Oct. Amazing. Really brilliant. Would definitely, absolutely recommend. Food and wine pairings were excellent, the mixture of flavours just top notch. Definitely plan to go if you're in Edinburgh.
H. M.
Smashing experience with great food, service and atmosphere. 10/10 would go again, and you should too!
F. G.
Amazing! Good tasting menu which had innovative and tasty courses. Staff were all friendly and a thoughful introduction to every course served helped to appreciate all the flavors. Would definitely be back when/if we're in the area! Sorry we didnt take more photos but all courses looked amazing.
A. B.
Excellent food, very well presented. Wine list was very good, and service was fantastic as well.
A. W.
Came for the winter tasting menu, everything was truly spectacular from start to finish with sublime service. Couldn't recommend more highly
J. W.
Very delicious brunch with fresh ingredients and vegetarian/vegan options. Friendly service and very nice atmosphere! Recommended!
c.
Great food for lunch and at a very decent price! Would definitely recommend coming here for a nice relaxing lunch or even dinner.
A. N.
Food was perfect. Amazing baby squid and chilli. Followed by fresh cod pan fried (it could be a little better done to my taste). And a great dessert of kahlua ice cream. And I don’t like kahlua! Espresso was top and the opportunity to try the breakeven whiskey bottle is a great deal. We had the Rest and Be Thankful Bourbon Cask from the Bruichladich Octomore. Very good to try it, it being pretty peaty and thus so far from my preference, without having to buy a bottle or pay the bar premium.
C. F.
One of the most beautiful brunches I've ever had. The poached eggs cooked to perfection and the smoked salmon and sauce were so tasty as well. Defo be back
K. P.
Wonderfully balanced menu with inventive combinations and excellent flavours. Will be back.
D. M.
Absolutely gorgeous lunch menu, the non-alcoholic drinks were inspired and the nicest cheese course I've ever had. Amazing value for money and the staff are incredibly attentive and knowledgeable. Menus change about once a month so I will definitely be back to try what else they have to offer.
B. T.
A really delicious meal in a lovely intimate setting. One for special occasions or just for a fancy evening out.
A. V.
The idea itself - having a five course meal at your home, in such a great taste and quality it’s amazing! We had a delicious Italian menu, incredible to every single bite! Even the one food of the menu “Polenta with truffle oil” which is not my favourite, it was so well made that completely changed my mind and I enjoyed the whole thing! I can tell, how passionate the people in the kitchen have been to offer that delicious meal! We love food, and Aurora has been definitely the best one to our list of restaurants! Thank you!
F. M.
Have been wanting to try this place for years - they're not afraid to push the envelope when designing unique menus - the seven course autumn tasting menu was delicious. Some unusual mixes of flavours but there wasn't a single thing on the menu I could / would have made at home, or have tried or have even thought of!
I. K.
Amazing experience. Great value for money. Very creative menu where every dish was a revelation. Well worth a visit. The menu changes every 3 months with the season.
K. H.
Positives: excellent service, lovely atmosphere, presentation and one outstanding dish (tomato gazpacho).
Negatives: we are visiting Edinburgh from London and have been to many places with similar modern fine-dining at £40-50 a head. Overall, I found that most dishes were style over substance with different and unusual ingredients being used almost for the sake of it, and their flavour not really coming through to the finished dish. Portions were also too small and unbalanced (and I speak as someone who does not have a huge appetite). I left on a sugar high, but was hungry again within 2 hours. The best courses were the first course (gazpacho), the cod, and the petit fours, everything else was forgettable. I would not visit again, there are better places to eat in Edinburgh - eg Timberyard (where we went last year).
I think it has the potential to be great, but is not there yet.
D. M.
We went to one of their monthly evening events, vegan night. Fantastic food, great service.
M. O.
Delicious, interesting, beautiful dishes. We ordered the sourdough with herb infused oil, the Korean beef tartar and wild mushroom starters, and then the beef fillet and risotto mains. Everything was perfectly seasoned and delicious.
Cosy intimate atmosphere. Restaurant is very small, so I would definitely recommend booking a table in advance.
We will definitely be back!
J. L.
Amazing food and wine. The service is polite, friendly and very knowledgeable. In short, you can feel the love and care. It's quite small but open to bookings which I would recommend. It's so good, they should be full all day, everyday. My husband and I have been a few times and it has always been of the same high standard. Thank you team Aurora, we wish you all the best in the future.
E. R.
Excellent lunch with matched wine for each course - a real treat. Some unexpected ingredients but they work so well. Efficient, knowledgeable staff.
A. M.
There are so many words to describe this restaurant but they'll be covered below. In short, an exquisite experience made all the better by knowledge and affable staff. They even catered to my low carb diet which they didn't have to do at all. The attentiveness is just first class. Hands down one of the best dining experiences I've had. Thank you!
A. L.
Absolutely delicious food, great staff and very well priced. One of the best meals I've had.
Z. T.
I heard it was good but i didn't realise it was this good..
Artistically made whith perfect seasoning. Ill be back...
G. R.
We had a very agreeable meal here that was tremendous value. Nice when the reviews are genuine and we were certainly not disappointed. A very interesting wine selection on offer, we were able to match by the glass with unusual wines that were perfect. Do not hesitate to book!
L. C.
Outstanding food. Wine pairing very unusual but also fantastic.
A really special little place.
S. M.
Having been denied twice this month the pleasure of eating at this amazing local eatery, I was so happy to find the "Aurora at home" offer for this weekend on their website. Wow! 4 amazing courses, so easy to prepare and a beautiful bottle of red to go with it. Dessert was especially good!
A. T.
Such a nice place! The £16 for 3 courses is such good value, especially since the food is so good! The orzo pasta and the monkfish were so original and like nothing I've tasted before, and you can really taste the quality of the ingredients. The presentation of the food is also lovely, which is a great bonus.
F. T.
Went for the spring tasting menu with wine pairing a real taste revelation on both counts. Caesar was particularly knowledgeable and patient thank you a really special meal
A. B.
Delicious lunch menu (oysters were a highlight), great wine. Tiny venue so advise you book
L. N.
I had great expectations after reading the reviews and listening to mu friend’s opinion and they were partly met. The starter of scallops and mussels was quite nice as was the salmon as a main course. Probably, my favourite dish was the dessert (chocolate mousse). They call themselves “modern eatery” but I did not find their style particularly innovative. The ambience is warmly relaxed.
叢.
Great food, really good service. Brilliant place in Leith
K. B.
Lovely small restaurant. Excellent, tasty well cooked and beautifully presented dishes. Friendly, smiling staff. Menu has a limited variety of items, so that what they produce is great quality and good value. We'll be back!
S. R.
Never dissappoints. My favourite restaurant in Edinburgh!
F. M.
Forget about the Michelin guide. Forget about stars, forget about pretentious food called in a way you never heard of. This place is the real deal. Amazing dishes, you can tell the amount of hours spent to design each single element. Each dish works in perfect harmony and the front house does an excellent job with the wine pairing to make your experience even more enjoyable. 5 stars, just because I cannot give this place 10.
J. M.
Pretty perfect. A lively, inventive menu with playful combinations of ingredients, from starter to cheeseboard. Warm, attentive service. Brilliant alcohol-free options (as of May 2021) to accompany.
C. C.
I had such a wonderful time here! Restaurant is cosy and chill, food was devine and the staff were lovely. Their Covid measures were 10/10 for anyone who's worried about dining out. Would definitely go back.
J. K.
Just finish our meal.
Beautifully cooked good size portions.
Both starters were really good but the coconut prawn green curry was outstanding
PS 3 deliveries in the past 4 weeks all punctual
K. A.
Great fine dining experience. Food variety is great as menu is updated often. Knowledgeable wine recommendations by waiters are helpful; top quality service. Pricey & small portions, but food is always refined.
S. P.
Walked quite far in the rain to get to Aurora for some lunch and it was well worth it. My boyfriend had the three course lunch and I had the vegetarian breakfast and we were both very pleased. Best coffee I've had in ages, super friendly staff and a really nice and bright space. 5/5 🏅
D. “. B.
Lovely, little restaurant with some uniquely different dishes on the menu, including pheasant with goats cheese, black pudding, beetroot and pine nuts, which was delicious. Sticky toffee pudding was one of the best I've ever tasted, due to its whiskey sauce. We tried all 3 puddings on offer, all delicious though. There's obviously a chef here who takes pride in what they do! The front of house guy was really helpful, with a good balance of attending to our needs, offering recommendations and standing back and letting us enjoy the meal. Really glad we visited. If you like to be a bit adventurous and try new things, this is the place for you.
M. M.
Simply Stunning!
We felt in love with this small, independent restaurant. Everything seems to be just perfect. They’re coffee is delicious but most importantly - the food. Food is so so good. We tried their eggs benedict and royal. Both cooked to perfection and even served on homemade sourdough! We will be back!
You must go for dinner
K. M.
I'm relevatively new to receving fine dining at home and have recently gotten deliveries from both here and by Six by Nico. I'm not a regular to fine dining restaurants, but nevertheless I know what to expect for an order. I don't know how fair it is compare the two, but SbN was above and beyond the level of Aurora in every way, at £30pp with wine and special ingredients included.
Aurora was apparently £25pp with no wine included but I was charged fare more online, only to have to submit my bank details via email with an assurance that I was charged too much via their website error to receive a refund of the difference. Have to admit it didn't inspire confidence from the start. The difference was refunded, but I wonder why there was such a big error to begin with. The whole excercise made me think about the value versus SbN and I was left wondering in the end. Aurora was an okay meal, delivered promptly and as described, but in comparison there's no chance I'd bother again versus the incredible experience I had with Six by Nico. I dunno, maybe SbN has an unfair advantage that I'm unaware of, but after paying £25pp I had just managed to expect more.
I've never visited the restaurant itself and this order was based on the recommendation of a friend - I'm sorry to say I won't bother visiting post-lockdown. The food was good (but that's the extent) but I'm now sure there's far better value elsewhere.
J. D.
Absolutely astounding food. Cannot recommend this beautiful resteraunt enough. We had the tasting menu with wine pairing and spend over 3 hours being spoilt. We will definitely return. It should get a Michelin star!
K. W.
This brand new modern bistro is absolutely amazing. Everything from top to the bottom was just perfect. Friendly, attentive service, fantastic locally sourced food, interesting cocktails and really good wine in even better prices. Leith needs places like this, ad after our first visit I can assure you that you gain dedicated, regular customer. Big high five!
L. M.
Have been a number of times now. Always excellent food and service. Look forward to the next time.
A. W.
This is easily my new favourite small restaurant in Edinburgh!
The menu is super clever, offering a lot of nice flavours and a better than average vegetarian selection which I'm into. The plates produced are beautiful and very reasonable value, you can really see some quality ingredients being used and great care being taken by the chef's.
Would recommend this place for couples and small parties. The vibe is nice and relaxed, so whilst you'll enjoy a greateal you maybe won't have to dress super formal and you can take a bit of time over your meal and enjoy a drink. Speaking of drinks, there's a fairly thoughtfully selected wine list and bin ends on rotation too, which is always a nice touch.
G&T granita with my oysters was a highlight, they would get at least a 🌟 all on their own.
S. B.
Delicious food. Artisan style menu. Good portion size for value. Fair trade coffee traced back to source. Very tasty looking cakes. Definitely worth a visit, I'll be back! Highly recommend.
B. B. W.
Michelin-level innovation without the Michelin-price. We came here for our 2nd year anniversary and the dining experience really was the best choice ever. We loved every bite are still reminisce about it 6+ months later!
K. C.
Great, independent restaurant hidden away from the crowds of the Centre and certainly worth a visit! Not too far from the Shore and Leith. Food is delicious, fresh and lovely presented. I appreciate fact that is responsibly sourced. Good wines and cocktails. Staff is also very friendly. 5 stars!
C. M. S.
Absolutely fantastic! Great value for money!
C.
Excellent nouveau Scottish cuisine, very different, beautiful presentation, delicious food and fresh oysters. What more could you want? Pork cheeks came with fish, apples with a lobster bisque. Unusual and delicious, especially the potato and carrot glass. It was thin crunchy paper, appealing to the eye and the mouth.
Scallop and mussel appetizer, delicious and again great presentation.
Fabulous fresh oysters from 2 hours away. Vert creative on it's way to being one of the best nouveau restaurants in Edinburgh . Definitely worth a try, unexpectedly fantastic!!
P. N.
Had breakfast, was really tasty and consistently cooked, only negatives were overcooked fried egg and beans were under seasoned, which I know can be a taste thing, but only once past a point and in my opinion that point hadn't been reached yet. Small details in an otherwise great breakfast.
E. R.
Fantastic lunch - incredible value with great service. Exciting menu in a very laid back atmosphere. I had the squid to start and cod for main which were both excellent. I will certainly be back
G. H.
Found by accident when walking towards the port area in search of something to eat - so pleased we stopped and they managed to squeeze us in. Charming service, great wine and beautifully presented, top notch food. It's out on its own a bit but make the effort and you won't regret it.
L. C.
Fabulous people, fabulous food. Great to have a place like this so close to home. If you are looking for a private dining experience, look no further. Thank you for making our mum and dad’s Diamond Wedding Anniversary such a success.
W. B.
We had delicious lunch in Aurora! Love the relaxing atmosphere and organic vibe. Ingredients of every dish seem to be carefully selected and perfectly matched. My lamb kofta with a gherkins sauce was so tasty. The beetroot soup was very fresh and rich in flavour, served with warm, crispy sourdough bread. Also campfire potatoes is a must. Selection of wines short yet sophisticated (they are all organic and biodynamic). Service is very helpful and knowledgeable.
It's a fabolous place either for food or just for a coffee. Definitely worth visiting and we will come back. Thank you Aurora!
M. S.
I don't get to dine out very often but this was by far the finest dining experience I've had in years and well worth the money 👍👍👍
t. l.
Lovely small cafe offering tasty treats with good service and attitude. Warning to those with issues, the steps to the loo are steep! 7 us had a mixture of different types of hot drinks that were ace. I also had a fruit scone and a bowl of root vegetable soup which hit the mark
J. J.
Phenomenal tasting menu very creative and great date spot cozy atmosphere must book in advance
J. S.
This place is top notch! As an admitted New York City foodie, I had my doubts... but I must confess, everything was beyond excellent! We were delighted by our entire dining experience!
A. R.
One of the best meals I've ever had.
Such well balanced and inventive ingredients and a great value wine pairing. This team are knocking it out of the park.
J. J.
Really excellent tasting menu. Simple straightforward service. All the dishes tasted great and would've made great stand-alone entrees. Highly recommend
L. O.
A truly memorable experience; superb food, great service, lovely staff and magic from the kitchen - oh and the wine pairing was excellent. Thank you
N. V.
Really good quality food and fine dining experience, I recommend to go for the wine pairing for the whole experience
L. L.
Amazing meal, the value quality/price is very worth it.
The staff is lovely and the atmosphère suit very well to make it more enjoyable.
I'll definitely come back
K. W.
Amazing little place. The food is excellent. Highlights were pork cheeks, haggis bon bons and the wild mushroom. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the staff super informative and friendly. Would highly recommend

Another fantastic evening at our local fine dining eatery. Consistently interesting and high quality food, service and setting thoughtfully adapted for CoVID.
S. F.
Delicious food, the vegan option was so tasty and the seafood was fresh. Food was well plated and the service was very friendly from the Italian waitress. Will definitely recommend this place!
T. P.
First time in Aurora and didn't disappoint. Very nice food. Presentation and flavours really nice and tasty. Would definitely recommend. Great customer service.
T. M.
We visited for a taster evening and the food was phenomenal. Very reasonably priced for the high quality and inventive dishes we had, everything was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended!
I. B.
Blown away by how good the food was. My wife and I decided to try out their Tasting Menu and it was some of the best food we've eaten. I'm almost sad that I didn't know about the restaurant sooner!
K. M.
Fantastic food! If you want a great food experience without the fuss of some places, come here! Extremely accomplished menu.
J. D.
I am absolutely thrilled that I've found such a brilliant restaurant. I was there today with my family for mothers day and was blown away with the quality of the food and at such a great price.
A. M.
A hidden gem. Great tasting menu with some unusual but well matched wines. I would highly recommend and I will definitely be back.

A great restaurant with excellent food and first class service. I took my Mother for her 80th birthday and my children 9&13 and all had a fantastic time. Thanks

The best dining experience I’ve ever had in Edinburgh. Definitely coming back!

Fantastic food and service. A hidden gem in Leith that's definitely worth checking out. It's the type of place where you could order anything and it would be original and tasty.

Best brunch spot in Leith - maybe even Edinburgh! I sway between wondering why it's not always rammed on the weekends and being grateful it's not always rammed on the weekends! You won't regret a visit here! 😋
N. P. F.
I love Aurora- a little gem in Leith where you can enjoy lovely food, staff and a cozy place! Every time I am in the area,I pop in to enjoy their creative and delicious cuisine!
J. C.
What a fantastic meal - GF catered for exceptionally well too. Thank you!

Really recommend Aurora, lovely food, excellent wine choice, relaxed atmosphere and even better for me dog friendly. Definitely worth a visit. Another Leith gem.

Lovely place, been a few times, today is the only time where we have noticed a flaw, today the food was just a little lookwarm. Don't know if it was forgotten about but still won't stop us from coming back, mistakes happen.

Aurora is the best restaurant in Edinburgh right now. My wife and I had the seven course tasting menu with the wine pairing, all perfectly executed. Also the intimacy of the space really allows for excellent server/kitchen coordination; timing of every dish, glass of wine was spot on. The entire staff was very attuned to our dining pace which is a dying art form even in quality establishments.
