Reviews of BABA
E. C.
Really lovely restaurant, we were very impressed. Despite some previous reviews, we found that service was generally very friendly, although slow to to take our drinks order. Highlights were the cauliflower fritters, chicken leg grill and the olive oil sponge, although all the food was delicious & packed with flavour. We were advised that a snack/mezze, grill and side per person would be sensible and found this to be good advice. Definitely not cheap though.
M. C.
A masterful culinary experience! The atmosphere is decadent - we were there on a night they took over rooms from the neighboring hotel (which we were told they do when busy on the weekends). But the real show stopper was the food. So flavorful, amazing texture combinations. Highly recommend especially for vegetarians. The grilled artichoke and falafel plate was unrivaled.
V. R. M.
One of my favourite places in Edinburgh. I’ve been coming to this place on and off for years and it never disappoints. Great atmosphere, food is incredible and prices are pretty reasonable for the quality you get. Service is also impeccable. I’d easily recommend it for anyone visiting Edinburgh!
M.
Great experience at a very reasonable price. Hummus and muhammara were some of the best we've ever had! Falafels and lentils were great as well. We also had the blackened potato and the cauliflower, but we were not as excited with those, as with the rest. The number of dishes we've ordered were actually too many for us (3 per person), so you may want to keep it to a lower level. Atmosphere was amazing and staff were friendliest ever. Definitely recommend to visit.

Word can't express experiance which we had.
Amazing food, very nice atmosphere, prime location in affordable prices. Waiter very polite and well trained - I've asked for advice in whisky and everything was delivered to my expectations.
Very good kids menu with posh twist. Our boy had cheeseburger with chips and even this looked and tasted like 3 stars 🌟
We went for mezes and lamb shoulder is something which I'll never forget. When yiu taste dish time will stop. If you're a foodie definitely should go for it.
Again thank you BABA this memories which definitely will stay with me for a long time.
C. L.
Amazing staff and wonderful food. be sure to make a reservation because they stay full. Try as much as you can and don’t worry if you are traveling solo they have a great communal dining table where I had excellent conversation and enjoyed my meal. Most items are meant to be shared.
S. C.
Delicious lamb shwarma on hummus, cauliflower fritters, and sweet potato! Also got the lamb shoulder on the couscous which was fantastic.
We also got the aubergine but wasn’t really a fan of it.
O. S.
Absolutely AMAZING experience! The service was so friendly and helpful. I think it was Carlos I had who made nice recommendations and was really attentive. 😊 The food was SUBLIME! Everything is so fresh, well seasoned and the menu is thoughtful and a wonderful presentation of Levantine cuisine. The rose and lemon cocktail was very well balanced. The hummus dip with pine nuts was the best I've had and the pitta was topped up throughout. 😆The cauliflower fritters are not to be underestimated- they were just as hearty as a meat side dish and nice and crunchy. 🤤 The chicken and chargrilled corn was a deliciously rich plate that was wonderfully spiced and succulently cooked. I was taking notes for my own home cooking. 😅 Really beautiful decor, clean toilets and great atmosphere. Definitely going to visit this place the next time I'm in Edinburgh! 😍
V. D. P.
Food was ok. The lamb hummus was delicious. I would say if you’re in Edinburgh only for a few days that this is not the first choice as there are others that would be more enjoyable.
A. B.
I visited this place the first time I ever stayed in Edinburgh, and I liked it. I decided to visit again last year, and I enjoyed it even more, which rarely happens. It’s really good contemporary Middle Eastern food.
K. W.
I couldn’t fault the food here. Every single dish looked fantastic and tasted even better! Will definitely be recommending this place to anyone visiting Edinburgh. The staff were lovely too!
J. L.
Very good service and amazing BABA ganoush!
We spent around £60 for a few dishes and drinks. Would definitely recommend BABA to my friends:)
L.
Food and service were both great here. Staff were friendly and came back to check up on us several times. All the sharing plates were very good! Would recommend dinner here.
R. M.
Absolutely fantastic restaurant and brilliant service. They were kind enough to let us push back our reservation as we had issues with our hotel.
We were recommended this place by a friend who lived in Edinburgh and we weren’t disappointed.
The food is intense and flavourful, everything we ordered worked together and our favourite was the green hummus and charred sweet potato.
Would highly recommend if you’re in Edinburgh and enjoy Middle Eastern food but want something with a twist.
N. B.
One of the nicest meals we've had in a while. I enjoyed the food so much and I'm looking forward to going back and having more delicious food at BABA. Everything was excellent!
t.
Certainly one of the best restaurants in Edinburgh, where every bite, seemingly whatever you ordered, was sensational. A pleasant experience start to finish, didn't feel rushed, waitress helpfully explained the menu... Just go for it, order as many dishes as you fancy, there won't be much wasted. Some of the tastiest food IV had this year. Beetroot hummus, the lamb shoulder, and the blackened sweet potato were highlights, though unfair to discriminate as it was all so good.
M. H.
We went in because everywhere seemed to be fully booked. We were a bit apprehensive because we didn't know if we liked Lebanese cuisine. The food was unreal, really well cooked! The chefs were cooking Infront of us which was really cool, and the staff were really friendly and attentive. Definitely coming back next time we are in Edinburgh!
A. P.
It was a big surprise, all the dishes we ordered were delicious, full of flavor and the highlight was the sweet potato.
I will always come back, and I loved the decor.
P. E.
What a surprise! the food is gorgeous, both visually and in terms of taste; Baba Ganoush is to die for. Just wow! Other mezze, mains (especially the monkfish) and sides were fantastic as well. Really nice decor and attentive staff. Already feels like a safe bet for next successful visit. Can't wait.
X. R.
V v good mezze restaurant with top tier hummus. Never seen hummus with so much good stuff chucked over it. Service was excellent and it had a nice atmosphere. Definitely visit if you’re in the area.
S.
Quite nice tasting food but a bit expensive. The plate you use for yourself to put the dishes on is far too small sadly and makes it quite awkward to eat. I also would have appreciated spoons for all the mezzes so it is easier to serve yourself. The mezzes were tasty but just a tad too challenging to eat neatly.
I. L.
Amazing food! We ordered grilled hand dived scallop with burnt butter and haggis mergurz and yemenite hot sauce
Totally will eat here again!
Ps loved the lamb!
C. N.
Absolutely love this restaurant the food is amazing, each dish is bursting with flavour, presented really well and is very reasonably priced considering the quality you're getting. Although the dishes are technically small plates the portions are generous and about 4 or 5 choices will easily do 2 people and it's easy to add more on if you're still hungry. The labneh and tomatoes and the beef and bone marrow koftas are a standout for me. Service is excellent and it's just a really nice restaurant to sit and spend a couple of hours in.
C. M.
Food was brilliant. The sharing concept allowed us to taste a good amount of dishes. Priced very reasonably too. Decor was also great. Only comment would be on the service - it felt a little hands off and could have been more personable.
T. R.
It was OK. Lovely decor and service was good.
Some of the dishes were really nice but others a bit salty.
It's quite pricey also for portion sizes. We had a nice meal but probably won't rush back.
M. B.
Absolutely staggeringly good food, this was our first meal out celebrating our wedding anniversary in years and we couldn't have chosen a better place.
The staff were excellent, really friendly and helpful. The wine was great and the food was spectacular (we definitely ordered too much)
I'd completely recommend here for a lunch or dinner, it's a bit pricier but nice as a treat, or if you maybe don't order as much as we did 🙂
K.
One of the best meals we’ve had in years. The flavours in these dishes are just incredible, and although the menu is quite small I wanted to eat everything that was there. It was so hard to choose. The cod in particular was beautiful, so moist and tender, and in a flavourful tomato soup. Can’t wait to come back when I return to Edinburgh.
M. W.
Really enjoyed the hot smoked trout as it was full of flavour. Thought that some of the other dip type dishes were low on flavour, possibly overpowered by the pickled chillies.
Probably worth a second visit to see if it was just my taste buds or an off day in the preparation.
T. M. M.
Delicious dishes, but maybe order less than the recommendation..unless you’re really starving! Bigger portions than we were expecting.
S.
Amazing food so much flavour!. Our server ( unfortunately didn't catch her name ) was the one of the best we've ever had anywhere. So lovely and friendly. Would 100 percent recommend.
R. G.
The best dining experience I have had in a long time. The sort of place where you need to order everything on the menu, it always leaves you wanting more
K. G. (.
Lovely food, and rich in flavour. BUT...Sadly I cannot give 5 stars for 2 reasons. First, the dish sizes for the prices asked are ridiculous. They child portions. Think just slightly bigger than tea plates. Second reason being, they do not accept cash. This made it very awkward for myself and friends. Some had to pay on the others behalf with card. Not to mention there was a 48p outstanding charge. Id have given it in cash but, once again...they dont accept cash. In this day and age that is unheard of. Especially if your bill is just under £500, probably best, either outright write off the 48p since the table spent just under half a grand or take the £1. Personally. I'm not returning here again.
W. D.
A must visit for some fantastic food and drinks. I visited as part of a birthday party celebration and they were very welcoming and attentive.
The food is next level and they have a fantastic selection to choose from along with a glorious selection of alcohol!
Would recommend and I look forward to returning.
S. B.
Absolutely fabulous Middle Eastern cuisine. Service was excellent. Thought I may have trouble with a fussy wife; however, she also really enjoyed. Good for people who don't mind sharing food. The larger the party, the more you'll try.
S. M.
The atmosphere was relaxing with a high end rustic feel, the food came out quickly and it was delicious, the service was on point making us feel at ease.
We ordered cauliflower starter, aubergine side, broccoli and lentil plus the falafel and artichoke mains after having to enquire about a few ingredients and which items were vegetarian friendly as this was quite unhelpfully not printed next to each option
I highly recommend
H. S.
The Blackened sweet Potato is no 1 on my list! It was amazing. We enjoyed the Turkish Chillies as well :) excellent Mezze :) the Broccoli and the lentils mains was interesting.
D. M.
Excellent mezze and grilled dishes, with a huge variety of rich and layered flavours. Surprisingly affordable! The pork is highly recommended.
M. S.
Loved it! All we ate here was extremely tasty, perfectly spiced and in a good amount to share for 2. Cauliflower fritters, lamb shoulder and falafel on beetroot hummus are a must. Bon appetite!
H. E.
It is a beautiful setting for a social gathering but foodwise it was underwhelming. I’m not particularly fond of the way the food is served - tappas style on small plates and served as each dish is finalised. That said there were some interesting and delicious flavours.
C. B.
Firstly, the food was phenomenal. The baba ganoush was unreal and the lamb shoulder was a must try! The attention to detail is excellent, every dish has so many little things going on from pomegranate seeds to chunks of cucumber. The service was also amazing. Our server Katie was so helpful and friendly. She really made the experience a memorable one. Thanks BABA!
A. M. T. N.
This is our second time at Baba and I learnt that at Baba less is more. As most dishes here have really strong flavour, I recommend not over ordering. Having said that, it was absolutely delicious. We got beetroot hummus, charred sweet potatoes, chicken and steak, all of which were so tasty. Our panna cotta dessert was unique and heavenly too. I 100% recommend it.
R. J.
Really delicious Lebanese mezze. Every dish we ordered from the mezze, charcoal grill, sides and dessert tasted amazing. Good quality ingredients and beautifully presented. The staff are passionate about the food and contribute to the lively atmosphere.
C. L.
Great little sharing dishes!
S. A.
Dined with 3 friends. Food was indeed delicious. Felt a bit rushed towards the end. Was told it was too late to order dessert, then told we could, bill was presented before we recieved them, only to be told the order had been lost. Because I was facing into restaurant, I felt under pressure to hurry up and pay and leave. One waitress was lovely but the other seemed very put out by how long it took for us to pay and leave the table. Standing outside my friend said she had noticed how rushed we were too, so wasn't just me. A shame as the restaurant is stunning and the food was very good.
C. C.
The food at BABA’s is amazing. We had the blackened sweet potato, baba ganoush, grilled aubergine and cauliflower fritters; all were absolutely delicious! The services was efficient and close to friendly….they seemed very busy and did not linger over taking your order or delivering the food. The restaurant is on the corner of busy new town streets and has big windows and great decor. I would highly recommend for lunch or dinner.
J. R.
Lovely Lebanese inspired cuisine, great for sharing. Really nice relaxed ambience and friendly service. Decent cocktails and wine list too.
H. z. n.
The taste was great, but portion size was small and not cheap.
I have an idea for this great restaurant that they can increase the portion size and so to have real prices.
K. P.
Beautiful restaurant and amazing food! The only area for improvement would be the service, which was a bit slow and not the most friendly. Otherwise, I highly recommend!
F. L. J.
Creative cuisine and delicious food. Highly recommended.
M. C.
Food looks amazing and tastes amazing!
C.
Have been twice over the last 2 years and both times have loved the food and overall atmosphere at BABA. Everything we tried was delicious, especially the slow-cooked lamb shoulder dish. The service was great too.
C. D.
Great food selection and excellent service. All of the dishes that we got were super, including the lamb nuggets. It does get very busy so I recommend making a reservation well in advance. We didn’t have a reservation and they were kind enough to sit us at the bar.
I. “. H.
We went for a "taste of baba" menu which gave us a lovely taster of several items on the menu. This included a mix of meats, vegetables, pulses and Baba Ganoush and houmous with flatbreads. Lots of really exciting flavours and something a bit different. We were so full after these dishes, but managed the delicious doughnuts! Would recommend!
m. z.
Food is fantastic, the service is good and cocktails are fabulous. However, when we were there, there was a bad, strong smell that we could smell it occasionally. If they sort that out, this place is one of the best restaurants in Edinburgh.
M. H.
Such good Lebanese food best I've ever tasted. Great wine. Excellent service.
G. X. L.
I was mstaying at the hotel right next to BABA and the staff recommended this restaurant as well as someone we met at a bar. The decor is so gorgeous. We were also very impressed by the food. I would highly recommend Muhammara which is a mezze. For their Ganoush, I have had better.
The grilled Lamb Shank is amazing! And pleasssse order the sweet potato dish from the sides.
For the dessert, the pomegranate sorbet was a perfect choice to finish the dinner. Fresh and perfectly balanced between sweet and sour flavors.
B. M.
Food was incredibly good and service was excellent. Every dish was a new taste on the tongue.
G. S. T.
The food was unbelievable, some of the best flavours I’ve had in a long time. The waitress we had was very attentive, polite and informative. All restaurant staff were delightful.
It was relatively pricey and you eat in a Tapas style!! But value for money.
The only thing that dropped one star was we entered through the bar and the bar manager wasn’t massively helpful and made some awkward joke.
Otherwise top top restaurant
J. F.
Really good food and service. Good information about allergies. The best food we ate in edinburgh!
K. T.
Dips selection were great. Loved the cauliflower fritters and beef kofta. Rice pudding dessert was a surprise for me. The rest of the food was average.
M. A.
Lovely food and great service. We ordered the kofteh and lamb shoulder as our mains -and it was some of the best meat we’ve had in the UK. The cauliflower was also a treat. The hummus and labneh were great too.
R. L.
Friendly staff. Tasteful food. A bit dark for my liking. I had to use my phone to throw light on the menu. Though not extensive, menu fibres ltd of options for vegans and vegetarians.
I. F.
From the moment we walked in and got a warm welcome from reception, through to George the bar manager and his team taking care of us, this visit was simply fantastic.
We had our two dogs with us, they were given water and treats and a lot of attention. They loved it too.
Drinks were well made and the pricing reasonable.
A definite return in the future.
M. S.
The food was fine, would say it’s a little overrated. Service was friendly and great though!
M. W.
Food was excellent ordered too much but it was delicious. Staff were really lovely. Great setting. Loved the experience.
S. L. (.
Have had two fantastic meals here. The staff are so friendly and helpful - helping pick out suitable dishes - and advising on quantities. I would always recommend this place for a quiet or group meal out.
Note: as the kitchen is in the main space, it gets really hot - dress appropriately!
B. D.
Go hungry, go with friends, order literally everything. Three of us ordered one of everything off the mezze menu, and the only problem was we couldn't agree on which dish was best!! Portions are generous and rich, and super delicious. Tip: it's less crowded at noon and more crowded at 13:00. So go early!
J. M.
Absolutely perfect. The location & atmosphere are an ideal setting for food that tastes as good as it looks. Middle Eastern flavours are tastefully presented as share plates for tantalising pleasures and lasting memories. These guys need serious kudos, the table staff are friendly and helpful too. On your way out tell the staff and chefs how much you appreciated your meal they deserve all the praise.
O. N.
Food was fantastic, cocktails amazing. We asked for all our food to come at the same time which it didn't and when we said we were ready for our mains even though we had some of our first courses left we didn't get them, we had to ask again. We ordered dessert and it came within literally 20 seconds. So some of the food seemed pre prepared? It tasted fine but we're talking sauces and garnishes, for the price I'd kind of expect it to be plated to serve I guess. It didn't take anything away from our experience necessarily but something to point out nonetheless.
M. A. S.
The food was really nice but the portions were small for the price we paid. The menu was very limited, there are few vegetarian options, and the fact that you could only order 3 dishes per person was a first but not like we were going to eat more than that each. We were forced to sit at a shared table despite the fact that the table to the left was empty the entire time we were there. Overall, it was not bad, but not good.
L. C.
Have wanted to visit here for a while, The Ox and Finch is a firm favourite so we had high expectations. We were in on a Sunday evening and it wasn't too busy, service was fast and attentive. The venison was amazing, I could have ate that all night! All dishes were well though out and delicious, we had had a big lunch so ate lighter than usual. I'm looking forward to going to The Ox and Finch next weekend for a proper comparison 😂
M. G.
4 stars for the overall experience: beautiful interior, very helpful and friendly staff, a lovely take on the tradition of sharing food. Now, the latter would score closer to 3 stars - though I liked the presentation, somehow the exciting positions on the menu didn’t quite match what was served on the plates. Take the dukkah or pistachios - barely a pinch over a whole mezze plate, or the goats cheese with courgettes - extremely salty!
Some dishes just missed that distinct flavour the menu promised. Perhaps the fact that it’s an umbrella Middle Eastern cuisine makes it slightly more generic on flavour too.
I can, however, wholeheartedly recommend the cocktails, both alcoholic and soft, with a middle eastern twist; and extra points for a full non-fuss gluten free menu!
L. M.
Lovely fresh food, great selection to choose from.
K. P.
This place always lives up to expectation! Food was amazing! Must try the humous and grilled lettuce side dish! Wonderful food and friendly staff! I will always visit when I come to Edinburgh without fail!
M. h.
Great food! Was slightly disappointed that they didn't have there full menu on offer but understandable due to Covid
R.
The hummus is stunning, but for all the Muslims who think the food is halal.. IT'S NOT! try the vegetarian dishes and the appetizers they are delicious
S. B.
Excellent service and really great food. A few reasonably priced wines would be appreciated. £26 was the cheapest white.
A. V.
Superb meal. Second time just as good as I remembered it. Wonderful food and drinks as well as a friendly staff.
L. P.
This is my fave place to eat while in Edinburgh. The food never disappoints so if you love Middle Eastern this is for you !
K. H. M.
Definitely one of our favorite dining experiences in Edinburgh. The food was really good and affordable. Don’t expect the portions to be big though, we were happy we ordered starters haha. The hummus and burrata starters were good and we also really liked the fish and the lamb we had for mains. Our total (for 2 persons) with one cocktail each was around £50 if I remember correctly.
You will definitely like this place :)
D. B.
Very welcoming and Friendly staff, felt at home thank you, fantastic cocktails 🍸 , will be back . Much appreciated.
C. B.
We had such a great meal here! The service was wonderful, very friendly staff. Food came out quickly and was amazing! Great flavours and lots of options. It was nice to try a different cuisine on a night out! Definitely recommend!
E. B.
Very classy restaurant. We had mezze (not their main meals), which was really delicious and fairly priced (as affordable and tasty as some of the other best Levantine/mezze places in Edinburgh). The jerusalem artichokes were absolutely delicious! There are plenty of vegetarian options, although they're lacking vegan food, which is a shame because it would be easy to make plenty of things vegan and other mezze places have plenty of vegan options.
S. H.
Fantastic food and good service, 10/10 👌
A. D.
Lovely food unusual tastes but brilliant.
Would definitely recommend it 7 stars if allowed
d. b.
Outstanding flavours and colours! Deliciously clean, crisp and refreshing! Well priced...try it!
S. S.
The food was innovative and delicious but the portion sizes are a bit too small
C. F.
Delicious meal. Imaginative, tasty middle Eastern flavours. Pleasant service.
S.
I'm a great fan of sharing food so everyone can get to try all of the beautiful tastes. I think we might've got a little too excited with all the dips and unnecessarily filled up our hunger with pitta bread. Scallops were delicious and well worth trying out and I am so happy we (three of us) shared one dessert to get that taste of sweetness to finish up the great meal.
Waitress was helpful with the menu and checked with her colleague when I asked about the wines. I also love how the wine list is divided into the Lebanese wines and then the more traditional European etc wines to highlight the rarer more unusual wines to try!
I really want to go back to try their Bloody Mariam!
M. P. A.
The menu was varied and delicious! Lots of tasty dishes that are shareable and affordable.
S. G.
Lovely food (vegetarian dishes). Good service.
L. C.
Lovely food and drinks. Rose and hibiscus spritz was beautiful. £12 for a small portion of monkfish which i thought to be rather expensive. A nice kids menu but again a bit pricey. Great service
C. I.
This is hands-down my new favourite restaurant. The food was exceptionally delicious. The flavours were so complex and the food still so healthy and nourishing. It was an absolute treat! To top it off, the service would wonderful and the atmosphere too! It also really didn't break the bank at all! We cannot wait to go back again soon!
H. K.
Excellent food in lots of little dishes nice and spicy good Middle Eastern flavours! Good for a quick snack or a whole meal.
A. V.
Fantastic taste of monkfish even it's served with yogurt sauce and oven baked potato ( bit less cooked maybe be better for potato coz burned taste suppress overall)... Mint limeade lovely fresh drink fully refreshing....Kunefe is a unique version not the original kunefe but it's a new tasty option (top cover a bit dry could be softened with a syroup maybe ice cream delicious with milk taste) Mocca coffee is lovely with fresh coffee beans smell.
M. L.
I had no idea what most of the menu was, our waiter was very informative and guided us through the selection process. I would normally never try food like this but I was there for a business lunch and it was picked as a location by my customers. The food was excellent, fresh and full of flavour. Certainly a great place to go for houmous and that Mediterranean style. We ordered too much of course but we enjoyed what we had. Certainly a good dining experience and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
R. K.
Food not so great. Not really authentic Lebanese food but lovely service.
E. D.
Great atmosphere and excellent customer service. They recommend 2 or 3 small dishes per person. The portions could be a bit bigger.
C. C.
Amazing food, the bill hasn’t come yet but for now I’m just very very happy.
C. F.
Rarely does a selection of small plates not render a favourite but these guys nailed it.. every plate was a superlative!
J. W.
DELICIOUS food and very friendly service. Highly recommend, and will certainly return.
R. D.
Great food, lovely ambience.
Let down by one very abrupt member of staff
D. R.
Amazing restaurant with different food. Had to get extra haggis balls, they're great!
J. S.
Best food I've had in Edinburgh in years. We shared 5 plates between two which was a perfect amount. Cocktails were great and very lovely attentive staff! Will 100% be back. Definitely check this place out!
I. B.
Good value and tasty, creative dishes - perfect for a group outing.
M. M.
Beautiful decor. Really interesting. Food yummy. Full of flavour. We had 6 dishes between 2 of us which was far too much. 4 would have been more than enough. Staff helpful and friendly.
L. T.
This really is a great place to dine out. Loved the small and varied Tapas style servings. Succulent meats and vegetable dishes with fabulous complimentary flavours. The friendly staff were very knowledgable and attentive in a relaxed atmosphere.
Would highly recommend Baba for a lunch or dinner.
A. B.
Good food, but nothing out of the ordinary! However the lamb shoulder was yummy :) Rating it a 4 as they were out of the pork dish + dessert way too sweet (doughnuts)
L. W.
Service was gracious, warm and professional, decor is absolutely gorgeous. However the food was beyond amazing with every bite! Our group was impressed with the next level flavours and textures of common dishes like labneh and hummus. My favourite dish was the lamb kofte, the flavours which seemed more than the sum of its parts. Will definitely go back next time I'm in Edinburgh.
N. T.
Sat in here for a Friday evening dinner.
Getting a reservation is not the easiest as it's normally booked up. However, we were sat, orders for drinks and food, and fed very promptly.
Although the food we ordered was absolutely delightful, I think the friendliness of the staff is what really made this a 5 star review.
Will be back for sure!
R. W.
Great food, full allergens menu, lovely staff. Will definitely go back soon!
J. S.
The food is excellent. The drinks are great. Our server left a lot to be desired or this would be a 5/5. Maybe we just got her on a rough night. It's still worth the visit.
E. D.
Amazing food, nice staff, the atmosphere is really nice!!
A. S.
Top quality hummus, baba ganush and delicious sweet potato. Served with warm and fresh pita. Nice take on panna cotta too.
M. O.
A bit meh considering the hype. Felt a bit like we were imposing coming in for a late lunch. Food was fine, dips were the best bit but the grill food was nothing to write home about. Service was fine but again nothing special. Have had better meals for less.
E. C.
Freshest, healthiest most delicious food I've had in Edinburgh.
R. L.
This is by far the best restaurant I have been in the last couple of months and a true surprise.
N. L.
Just delicious, great atmosphere, and you could easily go entirely vegetarian here and come away thoroughly satisfied
C. R.
I like the casual vibe here, it feels very relaxed. Cauliflower fritters were excellent, the rest of the food was ok but not as special. They do carafes of wine, and the Rioja we had was perfect.
V. L.
Very tasty food with interesting combinations of flavours and great dessert.
A. B.
Very nice accommodating staff as we popped up without a booking and they shuffled things around for us. We ordered a bit too much food but were so pleased with everything. The quality of the food is great and everything is mastered. I strongly recommend the courgette dish which was perfect from all sides. We were overcharged and the fox was complicated yet the staff did everything they could and were very apologetic about it. We will definitely return and bring friends.
I. C.
Great dinner, lovely environment, food and cocktails
R. B.
Absolutely delicious food cooked to perfection. Each bite was more flavoursome than the last!
Definitely coming back to this place to sample new items on the menu.
J. B.
Nice restaurant & bar. Vibrant and original decoration. The food is a nice and delightful journey to eastern mediterranea
A. B.
Great place to eat and the prices are reasonable. The babaganush is the best I ever had.
N.
A bit on the pricey side. 6 tapas and 4 beers - £82.00. They weren't huge portion sized tapas. The food was delicious but for lunch it's expensive. Service charge of 10% added to the bill.
M. S.
Such tasty Mediterranean food, will definitely go back!
K. C.
Had lunch at Baba today as part of the spa experience with the neighbouring hotel. Staff were attentive and quick considering that we had treatments booked. Great value for money! I highly recommend but definitely try the seabass with BBQ grapes. So so SO good.
W. S.
Ok. Pleasant seating area. Food was ok too.
N. I.
Amazing food! Mediterranean tapas style for the win!
m. s.
Excellent restaurant, they have tapas very good portion.
B. N.
Excellent food and great surroundings, alround great experience.
R. W.
Cool place with good food. The further inside you're seated the more cosy it is.
K. M.
I really enjoyed my lunch at Baba. The food was perfect in every way. You can't get better than that.
Service was good but it wasn't a challenge either so I don't know what it would be like with more customers and a larger menu. Which brings me to my only potential criticism: the lunch menu was a bit limited. Despite this being my first visit it wasn't an issue for me although if you are not very adventurous then it might not be for you. Make sure that you are familiar with the type of food that Baba serves. Our lunch menu was mostly East Mediterranean inspired and was made with very fresh ingredients.
H.
Great service, very good prices and nice food but perhaps unfairly comparing to London middle eastern it is good but not amazing food. Definitely still worth trying though.
S. D.
Food was good but staff didn't give enough time to finish starter before serving main courses.
b. h.
Didn't know what we were letting ourselves in for as booked by a friend. What a fabulous experience, great staff and surroundings. Food absolutely fabulous, would definitely go back again.
A. B.
Fantastic lunch and we were speaking to the restaurant manager who has worked with some good friends of ours. Small world. He comes from Duns though, but he seems like a good guy.
A. H.
All our dishes were really tasty. A nice atmosphere with friendly staff. If you get to sit in the sumptuous back room the experience is even better, but the main area is good too. If I had one small criticism it would be that our table was extremely close to that of our neighbours. But we'll definitely be returning.
B. S.
Some of the best Lebanese food I've ever had! Very dish was amazing and the staff were so friendly. Would definitely be back next time I'm in Edinburgh!
S. A. M.
I’ve been craving good Lebanese food during lockdown and the slow cooked lamb did not disappoint! The medley of flavours remind me of home and will definitely be back.
Staff were extremely friendly.
The only downside was the lack of pana cotta, I’ll reserve an earlier slot next time haha.
g. c.
Food was delicious, good service and dog friendly in the cafe area.
H. K.
Excellent place! We were a fairly large table so we managed to taste nearly everything on the menu and it was all delicious. Nice and fresh and packed with flavour. Staff were also lovely and the décor is beautiful.
p. h.
Delicious Lebanese food, great atmosphere and décor. The food was outstanding would definitely recommend eating here.
Staff were friendly and helpful 10 out of 10.
d. g.
Excellent, good was amazing. Service was quick and really friendly.
A. G.
Out of this world. We will remember this meal for a long time. Go to town, order everything! Also you can find places like this can be quite pretentious but at Baba not at all. A welcoming relaxed atmosphere
L. L.
This is such a fantastic place. The food was wonderful. From the hummus to the dessert. I can't wait to eat here again.
K. M.
Lovely staff, food just what we were looking for
D. S.
Visited on New Year’s Eve 2019 with a party of 10 and had a wonderful meal. Loved the decor and the low, intimate lighting.
Our party size meant we had most things on the menu but stand out dishes, in my opinion, were the chicken, ‘Beirut Burrata’ and banana chillis with feta.
Make sure you order plenty of bread to soak up some of the fantastic flavours on offer.
The service we received was warm and friendly throughout the evening, though there were some minor delays readying the table.
Highly recommended!
M. C.
Gorgeous
I. f.
I paid £7 for a hummus starter which I thought was a bit steep, until it arrived. Wow! The best hummus I've ever eaten, and I have eaten a lot! Well worth the price.
My main was a lentils and broccoli which was nice, but not as amazing as the starter. I had a pear cocktail which I wasn't impressed with.
The staff were friendly but not overbearing and the ambience and decor weren't offensive.
M.
This is a nice middle Eastern tapas style restaurant. You need two or three dishes per person, so can get a bit pricey. The food is really good and flavoursome though. They also do some good cocktails. The waiting staff were not that attentive. Took them a long time to clear or table and could not get their attention to order more drinks, so ended up not having many.
C. M.
Delicious Eastern Mediterranean food served tapas style. Great service at a reasonable price point. The main courses were delicious and would recommend them all with the exception of the sweet potato. Dips for two were enough for 5 and there was limited pitta to go with it. More a casual dining experience because the music was too loud to hold a quiet conversation. Good fun.
N. J.
Amazing food, great vibes, 5 star
D. K.
Amazing spacious place, decorated simply yet very classy. The staff was fantastic, helpful and very friendly. Briefed us joyfully of how best to enjoy the our experience and they were not wrong. With a focus on the sharing aspect the portions we're just right and unspeakably tasty. Starting off with dips and continuing on to a plethora of exceptional plates. Of course, not to be confused a budget restaurant, yet if you have a special evening planned or a calm and personal lunch, I would without a doubt recommend BABA!
S. L.
I seriously can't fault this venue. The food is amazing, great menu and so many options... I love the service, pretty chilled and not too in your face. Seems to always be busy which is a great sign.
N. P.
Great staff. Food good but considering the dishes are presented for sharing, the portion sizes could have been more generous. Some items were awkward too - how can you share 3 tiny chicken wings between 5!!! Style over substance i fear.
M. O.
Plenty of different options, food was very tasty, service was good, very helpful and friendly staff. Lots of different drinks options too
D. M.
Really nice dips. The decor is on point too.
C. M.
Food was delicious with many veggie options
K. B.
Best place ever!! The food is amazing! The service is great! The wine is very carefully selected...not the usual places: Lebanon, Greece, Turkey. Such authentic food! I took a friend here who is a chef who used to live in Jordan...I always worry that food won’t be good enough for her. However, she loved it too!!!!
C. F.
Food was amazing but I wouldn't order the broccoli again, nobody at our table liked it but everything else was perfect. Specially the lamb
K. U.
Another great meal. Booking in advance even during these times is advised
s. c.
Seriously good. Friendly staff, and the food is top notch, a level above most Lebanese places. Really worth a visit.
W. D.
Outstanding flavours which really gets the sensations going. Atmosphere is perfect for an really pleasant evening out, especially if you start in the immaculately presented bar for drinks beforehand.
Only note, the servers could be slightly more attentive.
G. S.
Very tasty food and very nice atmosphere!
S. G.
The food here was absolutely delicious, the staff were very patient in explaining all the dishes and making their own recommendations. Although we thought this could be expensive, it was amazing value for money which was an added bonus. All in all a great dining experience.
S. P.
Mezcal margarita was underwhelming and watery at best. Food was good and the lamb and couscous was excellent. Would totally go back just for that.
J. S.
Really interesting unique dishes, in a beautifully decorated building. Staff are very friendly and cocktails are superb. If you're in Edinburgh for just a few nights would highly recommend BABA!
H. A.
Food is flawless, such a great combination between each plate & its sauce. AMAZING.
Service good, same for staff. Just the portion so little, it’s better to ask before order. The waitress actually point out this for us so we order more than the usual.
Recommend.
C. S.
Amazing flavour combinations across all the courses. Tapas style but the portions are still generous and the food is reasonably priced. There is a good wine and cocktail menu although the alcohol is priced in accordance with location on George Street. The staff are very friendly, professional and attentive. The coffee comes with some amazing stuffed dates. There are plenty of vegetarian options and they are so good and tasty that the non vegetarian I was with kept pinching my dishes! I would thoroughly recommend a visit here, one to keep returning to.
k. f.
Very friendly staff and the food blows your mind. Definitely made us see veggies in a different light and the meat/fish is excellent
A. B.
It's a great place, clean with the right atmosphere. The plates are the right size and very tasteful.
The only big down side was the service.
We waited too much for just a couple of dishes while the restaurant was pretty empty.
We have been suggested a dessert too. Very keen to order it but the waitress never came back to take the order.
We decided to ask for the bill as 15 extra minutes waiting for a sorbet was too much.
M. M.
I went for dinner with some friends recently. The staff were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful, they were able to provide excellent advice on the allergen content of the menu which was extremely useful to one of our group who suffers from severe allergies. The place was packed and had a great atmosphere and the food was excellent and served quickly. They've set a high bar for themselves, I look forward to seeing if they manage to maintain it.
S. G.
Didn't know what to expect, but the food was super tasty and comparing to other restaurants I have visited in Edinburgh, reasonably priced. Will definitely go back
D. C.
Cute little spot in a small plaza, and fairly easy street parking.
I had the lasagna with mushroom. SO SO GOOD. Getting the mushroom sauce is WORTH IT. The lasagna is rich and comforting, and the mushroom sauce is creamy and adds lots of flavor.
My friend had the gnocchi and they were huge. It was good. Not as good as my lasagna.
M. R.
Service was a bit slack. A long week... I loved the food. So much did I want to try everything I over ordered. I literally could not stop eating the food. It was brilliant. My son who is a bit of a foodie said he prefers the Ox and Finch - the sister restaurant - and it is a close run thing. Worth a try and definitely in the very good category. I do expect to return.
E. M.
Lovely Lebanese. A bit more exotic than I usually eat but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The plates are quite small with the intention of getting many to share instead of one per person which does end up making it quite expensive. All in all, wonderful restaurant and wonderful food
P. T.
Food was okay. Staff were a bit rude.
O. M.
Amazingly different flavours we will never forget.
T. T.
The food was good but we were misled by the waitress and the menu descriptions when it comes to quantity. The sharing steak, which is "designed to be shared between 2-4 people" was just a 350gr steak - a regular portion for one person. Oh and it costs 45 pounds by the way.
Won't be visiting again.
S. S.
After hearing about this place since it opened and only being down the road from where we work, we thought it'd be a nice spot for our Xmas work night out. Decor was beautiful and it was fairly quiet for a Sunday night. But the service... Our waitress kept insisting that one main wasn't enough for one person (and considering they were £8-£15, they were surprisingly small, but the point was that no one was really that hungry, so why keep pushing?), and was a wee bit rude when noticed that we'd poured the wine in our beer glasses instead of the wine ones (again, what's the problem?). I guess I'd be back, because the food was DELICIOUS - I ordered some extra pitta bread to clean the plate... -, but as a group we were a bit disappointed.
H. C.
The food and atmosphere are 4-5 stars, but pricing and service is mediocre. Waiters are inattentive, and we had to ask for our food multiple times. Additionally, they charge you for extra slices of pita (only one small piece comes with an entire plate of hummus). Ultimately, the food and atmosphere don’t make up for the service and high prices.
T. H.
Nothing was wrong particularly but for this price range i would expect a better taste/food experience and service. It was a really average food and a not really attentive service.
B. A. O.
Good service and casual feel. Starters great. Cocktails good. But then you get the distinct feeling you’re part of a rotation. The food reflects as much. Maybe cool with a gang
C. M.
Great food, atmosphere and service. Highly recommend for a something different and unique.
H. J.
Incredible place. Visited here on Monday 24th May and had a wonderful meal in a great setting. Service was excellent too!
O. W.
Good, but not quite as good as its sister restaurant in Glasgow Ox and Finch. Due to the common theme in dishes it can feel a bit one note. Again, no actual problem with the food or staff. I guess we just wanted a bit more range.
P. L.
Had a great experience tonight at Baba while
We’re in Edinburgh for my wife’s birthday, really lovely guy served us from New Zealand (I think) very informative and friendly. Great food and cocktails, would highly recommend but go easy on the sides the portions are massive!! We didn’t manage to get to a dessert. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
V. D.
Excellent food our first experience of Lebanese and not our last!
We loved the decor, the style and atmosphere.........
R. M.
Alive & fun .. we have enjoyed small very tasty dishes perfect for sharing or trying new things !!
Fast service friendly staff
C. K.
Excellent varied menu and all 4 of our group really enjoyed our meal. Service was excellent and not at all intrusive.
T. V.
Really like the feel of this place. Relaxed but quirky menu with sharing plates and exotic flavours. Different décor which may not be to everyone's taste but we enjoyed it. A pleasant and welcome addition to the wonderful George Street in the heart of Edinburgh. Pleasant service to boot.
L. G.
Had dinner here with colleagues when I was in Edinburgh. The place itself is nice, the table we were sitting at is "box" so the place was a bit cramped. Dishes are tapas style it was advised to order 3 or 4 different stuff. I think the sizes are not that small (at least for me) so I won't go for 4 plates of food. Only 4 stars cause for me the overall experience felt like that :)
C. S.
Solid, great food and a somewhat reasonable price.
M.
Went to BABA for a relaxed dinner with friends and really loved it! At the very start, we were greeted by a lovely hostess and to be honest all staff were super nice, and most importantly professional and relaxed! The atmosphere in general is cool - not too casual and not too pompous:)
Our food was delish! The monkfish was cooked to perfection and all little sharing starters were fresh and flavoursome! The drinks were funky and arrived promptly (before food👍) so we had time to enjoy some wine with our meal😋
All in all, BABA is a really lovely place with tasty food and fab service! We will definitely be back some time after Christmas!
Ps. Sorry we forgot to take photos- we were too busy eating😊
g. c.
Lovely food, well prepared and presented, and most importantly tasty. The sea bass with smoked anchovy sauce and harissa was outstanding, almost ordered a second plate. Will return.
A. R.
The food was really good. Decent selection all very tasty. Nice interior and nice staff. Although one of the other customers stormed out without paying, not sure why?
R. K.
If you're looking for good food ,good service, nice surroundings. Go no further. You have found it at BaBa! Highly recommended.
A. O.
BABA was absolutely amazing. I came with a party of 4, no reservation. We were sat within minutes. We ordered 4 starters (hummus, babaganoush, prawns, olives), 4 grills (fish, beef, prawns, squash), some sides, and 4 desserts. Every item we received had incredible flavor and lovely presentation. The drinks were also delicious and refreshing. Can’t forget the venue. The restaurant is HUGE. Each room was decorated beautifully with comfy seating and the ability to enjoy a conversation with table mates.
A. S.
The food here was good overall flavours but just had too much lime on everything for my personal taste. Also portions were a bit small for the money paid. Otherwise nice service and quite accommodating.
M. P.
Fantastic place. The food was excellent, interesting and a little bit Scottish Lebanese. What's not to like about haggis kibbeh?
M. F.
Very nice decoration and friendly service, the maître that ensured we had a table was very courteous and smart. Music together with the rest of the atmosphere just makes you feel you have traveled to middle East.
Limited options for vegetarians, in my opinion the middle East is one of the most friendly veggie cuisines however not a lot of choice in the menu.
We had hummus, labneh, Baba ganoush, burratta and a baked sweet potato. I left very impressed by Baba ganoush and not that amazed by the hummus - we asked for the plain one however the olive oil taste was inexistent :-(
I guess I'll have to come back to try again and check if Baba can improve on the above mentioned things.
K. M.
Will definitely be back in due course. Absolutely brilliant food, lovely space, and excellent service including plenty of bar space to wait for your table over a drink if you're early. I had the squid and salmorejo dish, which is one of the most lovely dishes I've had in ages. If I could change anything, the seating is a bit close but it's certainly not overbearing. Go for yourself.
S. A.
Had the squid & goat nuggets, which are both highly recommend!
R. G.
Now this is a restaurant worth your interest! Beautiful decor, good service, and fantastic food.
The menu is based on sharing plate starters and lovely, innovative middle East inspired main courses. Maybe just watch how many starters you order to share, unless you have gargantuan appetites... you want to enjoy those delicious main courses.
The wine list is really strong with wines from places that will surprise many. But any wine list that includes Chateau Musar from Hochar Pete et fils in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley... really knows what it's about I promise you.
I loved the dining rooms, and their beautiful decor too... lovely rooms in which to dine with family and friends. I even wanted to steal at least one of the paintings. Altogether, this a quality dining experience with quality food, wine and service in a lovely setting.
A. Q.
Came in to Baba today as a group booking. Could not have chosen a more fitting venue. Very accommodating with gorgeous decor. And the food, well, the food was beyond great.
Would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone.
Also, a special acknowledgement is deserved to our server today (Courtney?). Not only was her service and attention exceptional, nothing we asked was beyond her call.
A. K.
Great food and nice atmosphere.
A. S.
Ridiculously delicious small plates and well priced. Pleasantly surprised with the pork with pesto sauce and the chicken legs with a unique sauce. Also the beet hummus was yummy.
G. P.
Food was delicious. With pomegranates sprinkled over nearly every dish it reminded me of Ottolenghi's middle eastern cooking. Their house red wine is well selected (a Sicilian nero d'avola). I would definitely come here again. My only negative remark would be that the size of the restaurant is a little alienating. Sitting in the more distant rooms does feel like dining in the hotel foyer.
L. R.
Best food and drinks in Edinburgh! Would highly recommend
k. b.
Amazing food, loved the pita (softest I've ever had) and the baba ganoush. The hummus was disappointing, however (only reason why it's not 5 stars), it needed seasoning (salt and garlic). Their limeade was tasty and their rose hibiscus spritz was refreshing.
C. F.
Meal for 4 £130 inc tip , a bottle of wine and a virgin fizz cocktail. Shared 1 portion of sharing dips with extra pitta.... delicious and perfect amount. 4 mains - monkfish , chuck steak , Schwarma , sweet potato , and I can’t recall the other one ! Anyhow all the food was beautifully cooked- meat tender and well spiced . Lovely atmosphere, room was super warm.... and staff attentive and knew exactly what was in all the dishes. A real treat , we will definitely be coming back here. ...and we had three desserts too😀
M. P.
Felt literally transported to the Levant through all the exotic flavours and colours of the region. This is exquisitely well done. The menu is thoughtful, diverse and totally unique in Edinburgh. The food was beautifully presented, perfectly prepared and the staff are very well versed in each and every dish and drink. The decor and ambiance are opulent yet relaxed making for a truly memorable evening. It's in my top 3 Edinburgh places to go. Amazing.
I. J.
Excellent food and atmosphere, wasn't very happy with the service. We brought our daughter with us to celebrate her getting a job, she is 22 and the waiter demanded to see her ID
A. P.
Went for the soft opening and was expecting some kinks in the service or food: there were none. The food was delicious. I really recommend going for all the dips option. The service was amazing: knowledgeable about the dishes and helpful. It was an amazing experience
3.
Excellent food and very generous portions, however you really need to get a blind on the George Street side window! Blinding
N. L.
Amazing food and great service and staff. Very authentic and tasty. Just need a wee bit bigger portions for the prices and the music clashes with the food. I suggest the Egyptian composer Omar Khayrat would do wonders for the mood. Highly recommended
T. B.
Exciting, vibrant and really delicious Lebanese inspired food. The chicken leg was the star of the grill and it was hard to choose between the labneh and the ganoush on the mezze. First dishes did take quite a long time to arrive, but that was more than made up for with a couple of freebies! Will be back.
M. H.
Nice bar inside the Kimpton hotel. Expect a premium price for drinks, we stopped in late night.
A. R.
Such good service, lovely quirky restaurant. The food was phenomenal. Would 100% go back!!!
I. S.
Great mix of oriental and contemporary cuisine. You can share mezze, main dishes and sides to taste different flavors. Some are quite spicy. Delicious deserts, especially chocolate delice.
M. M. L.
Excellent service : prompt, personal and professional.
Excellent food: fresh, good quality ingredients, good technical skills especially with flame-cooked meats, all dishes were flavour-bursting cacophony of spices, pickes and chiilies.
Long may this consistency last.
R. a.
The haggis was out of this world.. definitely recomend this place!! Has a Persian feel..
Loved it.
Definitely recomend it.
R. A.
We've been there for a X-mas dinner and we shared some dishes. A lot of vegetarian choices, can't name them all but everything was absolutely delicious. Strongly recommend.
A. B.
amazing flavor profile in their dishes! the bloody mariam is like drinking an alcoholic tomato soup (in a good way). the labneh snack is amazing, all the mains we ordered were awesome, highly recommend veal carpaccio as well. note that it’s a tapas/small plates restaurant, so it’s best to get one snack/mezze and one main per person. reservations highly recommended on weekends!
A. R.
First time I've been to Baba and it was excellent. We had the tasting menu which had a great variety of flavours and were full at the end. Highly recommended
E. C.
Delicious Lebanese food and cocktails. We had the haggis kibbeh (very tasty), burrata (overly herby for my taste), baba ganoush (very smoky, which I love, but strong flavoured for those who like milder versions), monkfish (wonderful), pork neck (ok, but not as good as I was expecting) and aubergine side (again, very smoky, but delicious). Came with pitta, although only 1 between 2 and cost extra to get more, which seemed a bit stingy. We definitely got the right amount of food for 2. Beautiful interior. A great place for a date night.
A. A.
Extremely delicious sharing dishes. The lunch menu has variations on pitta and humus dishes to be shared across the table - very tasty and even felt like a healthy meal out!
B. S.
I had dinner in Baba with friends last Saturday during our 'flying' visit to Edinburgh.
The food was outstanding - incredible flavours - fresh and a modern but authentic take on Middle Eastern cooking.
The drinks, service, interior and the whole experience in general were also excellent. For 3 of us we've had to share: Baba Ganoush, Hummus, Pita Bread, Grilled Octopus, Grilled Seabass, Grilled Pork Neck and Grilled Lamb Shoulder, all washed down with a nice bottle of white Garedo Verdejo. As it was a lot of food for 3 ladies we could only fit one dessert to share - Coconut Sponge cake with Mango Ice-cream.
All of that with service charge costed us about £27 a head, so quite reasonable for such amazing dining experience. I would definitely recommend the place and surely will come back when in Edinburgh again :)
L. J.
Excellent food, very rich so order less than you think because it's really filling (I had 4 tapas plates and was way too full) but its super tasty so you'll probably want more anyway, highly recommended.
n.
Comfortable seating and inviting ambiance. Friendly servers and excellent Middle Eastern food. Party of six and all our plates were scraped clean.
L. F.
Food and service were amazing, prices very fair. The chefs have a really great nose for flavours and spices. The bar seems to be lacking the vibe that the restaurant has.
A. D.
Not sure I'd go back. I found the food disappointing and I had been looking forward to it. Just all a bit messy and uninspired.
M. P.
Beautiful interpretation of eastern Mediterranean cuisine. Lovely ambiance and delicious food. Friendly service.
N. B.
Amazing Mediterranean food with great service. Perfect kids menu to go along side the adult meal. Definitely recommend if you can get in.
N. T.
Great food, though more than a smear of hummus would be nice, prawns awesome but fingerbowl needed, desserts were as awesome as the mains. V friendly staff. Good vibe to the place
N. P.
Delicious food, beautiful interior and friendly staff.
F. W.
Loved this place pn my first visit. Fantastic food served tapas like, amazingly good Lebanese wine, brilliant and friendly staff. Cocktails, decor, atmosphere and bience all quirky, relaxed and decidedly friendly
Will defiantly return.
S. D.
Great food, service and atmosphere
N. E. G.
What a place! Loved the food, its a great spin on lebanese/Syrian food. Don’t expect the usual. Service was great! We will be back
J. B.
Baba food is incredible. Service was good. And decor was nice!
C.
First time eating lebanese food. Don’t know if will ever be able to eat anything else after this. Go for the lamb nuggets, corn fed chicken and lamb shoulder. Absolute heaven.
E. C.
Great food. Rather poor service - lots of waiting. Some hot dishes, others lukewarm that’d been sitting around before they got to us. Poor explanation of the menu.
D.
This place has to be the best restaurant I’ve ever been to. The flavours, the presentation, the quality ... you can’t fault anything. We will be flying back to Edinburgh just for BABA!
L. B.
Food was really nice, good portion sizes. There was a fly in the wine when it came.
G. M.
Friendly, food was just perfect in terms of taste, variety, and quantity. And what lovely decor. Really nice place for lunch.
C. G.
Absolutely fabulous, best meal we’ve had by far. Must haves = venison carpaccio, hummus, roasted broccoli, and pork shoulder. Lovely ambiance and people!
E. L.
Food is amazing. But the kitchen closes at 10pm (we were there on a Friday night). Staff didn't inform us, and so we left hungry. Otherwise a great place.
C. C.
the service was really good, I had the hummus and baba ganoush which was delicious and came with a generous sized pitta. I love the atmosphere and the design of this restaurant as well as the food which is always good
P. N.
Incredible cousine if the Eastern Mediterranean/Arabic/Turkish cousine. Absolutely must visit if you enjoy something different or just to have some wine and squid. We enjoyed this very much and it will become our frequent place from now on. Brilliant!
g.
Simply one of the greatest dining experiences I have had.
Everything I had was delicious.
A. O.
Very delicious, tappas style, eastern mediteranian food.
The hummus was perfect and the pittas very good.
Steak and sweet potatoe were also very delicious.
Worth a visit for sure!
S.
A bit too expensive for my taste and seats ( benches really ) too small for 4 people, you will hit each others elbows. But on the plus side, tasty food and super friendly staff. Very pleasant atmosphere.
S. D.
We had such a lovely experience here! The service was amazing (as well as the food). Everyone was so polite and friendly - we felt so at home!! Would definitely recommend :)
T. G.
The meal I ate last night in Baba simply could not have been better. Try it, you'll love it. Highlights were the kofti, the babaganoush, and the doughnut
R. B.
Beautiful food. Excellent service. Friendly staff. Recommended
J. T.
Food is good and service is fair. Impressed with the very fresh and hot pita bread served in a brown paper bag. Had the hummus and chicken.
S. A.
Good food but service could have been better. Maybe some teething problems coming back out of lockdown.
A. M.
The Haggis Merguez mezze was delicious as was the Whipped Smoked Macherel.
h.
Very nice and trendy place with great mideastern food!
A. M.
Really love the food in baba. Pleasant decor I don't like the seating booths to constricting. Grilled prawns are amazing.
R. H.
Excellent, authentic and staff were amazing. Great surroundings and suitably priced.
P. R.
Amazing food great ambience
E. G.
Good food, small plates
C. W.
Amazing food. Felt like a really special experience!
J. T.
Food was fairly good. Small portions. Service was not very attentive. Something just a little lacking in the whole experience. Not sure I’d go back
G.
Absolutely delicious dinner, could not fault any of the food. Server on arrival wasn't the best but the waitress on our table was great!
S. D.
Absolutely loved the food here. Very tasty and reasonably priced. Staff friendly and extremely helpful. Would highly recommend.
L. C.
10/10 for ottolenghi style food frantic's best choice in Edinburgh. So fresh, so simple but complex, delicious, dynamic flovors
T. C.
The steak, Baba ganoush, chargrilled prawns, sea bass, were all out of this world, all so tasty, makes us want go to Morocco. Highly recommend.
A. C.
The food here was incredible. Highly recommend the corn! Staff were very welcoming and helpful too.
l. T.
The food in this place is simply amazing, as too was the service. It's a shame there isn't one in Sheffield.

Best Middle Eastern Restaurant in Edinburgh! The food reminded me of the food I had eaten in Israel! The food is far more authentic Edinburghs other Middle Eastern Restaurants due to its wide variety of spices and dishes!

Nice inside, but drinks are expensive, and quite dark, alsonlike a Wetherspoon miles to a toilet, which has no signs to say going in the right direction
