A phenomenal western take on Asian dishes, must admit that the presentation of is rather satisfying and the setting is relaxing and exciting. However, the waiters are outrages, at least we had a very unpleasant time being served. From needing to wait 20min a for them to clean an empty table, to being left 10mins to get the menus…

I made a lunch reservation for a 10 person office group this week and it was excellent. Easy to use order from your phone setup with no apps needing installed which removed the "split the bill" pain. Incredible value for money and great food, especially their Asian offerings. Very nice staff.

I found Soba bar to be a hidden gem. If you want simple yet really tasty asain food then this is the place. Although it's not cheap I think the quality of the food , the freshly prepared cocktails and the friendly chilled out atmosphere make it worth the price. I'm a fuss pot when it comes to thai curries and this place nailed it! The staff were so kind and friendly with us , we will definitely be back.

The idea of order from your phone it's good but it's not working, so you need to wait for someone to take the order. The portions are small, the taste is good but some food are over fried. The place is cozy and nice looking.

Disappointed with this branch of Bar Soba after fantastic visits to the 2 restaurants in Glasgow ,this was due to the ordering system which is a bit disjointed and on the night we were there half the menu was greyed out as not being available , you could get nasi goreng as a starter but not as a main which seems a bit daft , food was fine of what we got but the servers were not as friendly and efficient as the Glasgow staff and we left feeling a bit unhappy , was the daughters first visit to a Bar Soba after hearing us wax lyrical about Glasgow and she thought it was a bit of a letdown .

I visited the hanover branch today where the food was delicious. However the experience was tarnished when we waited 25 minutes with no drinks upon arrival, then when 2 of the female staff kept forgetting the bottle of water we ordered from the start. Being pregnant and having just eaten a lot of salty and some spicy food, I really needed that water. It got to the point where even after getting up and asking for it again, they just kept chatting and totally forgot yet again. We were planning to stay longer but ended up getting the bill and leaving. This also took forever and they tried billing us for the water that never arrived throughout the entire meal. I wouldn't return purely based on how terrible and time consuming the service was, which is a shame.

Food is very tasty, although the main dish was a very small portion. I am glad that we have asked for a starter as well. The lunch menu is reasonably priced, although a small dish and a soft drink won’t be enough for surviving the afternoon. So I am not convinced that it is a good deal... Staff is very friendly, the place has a good vibe.

Went for an early lunch and it was delicious. The staff were super friendly and many of the tasty mains are available half price at lunch. There is music playing, so I wouldn't recommend it if you want a quiet meal, but it wasn't distractingly loud.

it's wild that a place called bar SOBA doesn't actually sell Soba Noodles - only wheat and rice noodles..... This is what turns me off from ordering from here. If you have a name that is a food item you should AT LEAST serve that food

First time there and it wasnt what I expected. Laid back friendly resteraunt where the staff are very attentive without being a nuisance. We had the £27 sharing with 4 cocktail which were well made and tasty. Food was lovely and you are given chopsticks and cutlery thank God. Quirky decorations and not oriental looking. Nojito was very sweet, the Apple and ginger Mojito very good Most of the food was good, however my Chicken katsu was overdone. I ate it because we were in a hurry and I was hungry. On mentioning the issue there was an immediate response from the shift manager and a complimentary round of drinks. Great service.

Really did not enjoy the food because it was way too salty. I ordered Pad Thai and it didn't taste like pad thai at all compare to the one I had in Bangkok. It was more like vermicelli fried with Soy sauce. Lots of soy sauce. My cousin ordered fried rice and it was also very salty. It was so salty that none of us could finish the food it was quite bad. I guess it is better to focus on just one cuisine instead of trying to be Chinese, Thai and Malaysian at the same time?

Went there for dinner with some friends. There was no asking of our details for track and trace. One of my friends had booked and they would have her details, however, it would have been better if they’d asked for everyone’s. The side dishes are more filling than the main noodle dishes - which are quite a small portion considering it’s a main. I don’t think it was a bad experience but simply not memorable at all. The only draw for me is that students receive 50% off their food which is great. Our server was fine but looked a little bit bored of being there which is understandable during these weird times. A little more knowledge on how to be in the restaurant any and encouraging using hand sanitizer etc would have been nice. When we were waiting at the door the greeting wasn’t particularly friendly and was more “what are you doing here?” Instead of “welcome” - but again, working during this pandemic is strange and new for everyone. I wouldn’t go again but it was fine for what it is.

Both our dishes arrived in a timely manner and they were cooked perfectly. Cocktails were great too although very strong! Bar soba has always been one of my favourite places to eat and drink but this is my first visit in Edinburgh and I was not disappointed. I can’t wait to go back!

We had a birthday party booked on a busy Friday night and our tables were on the mezzanine floor, which proved to be a great spot. We had an amazing time, very friendly and knowledgeable staff, nice layout, good tunes, great drinks. We ended up staying longer than we planned. Highly recommend and would book again. :)

My boyfriend and I ate here last night and we got two mains and two alcoholic drinks for £17 + tip because of different offers! Came here when it first opened and it was so popular it took an hour to get drinks! I really like it here, it's got great drinks deals Monday- Wednesday. My friends and I came here last Wednesday for a 'new menu launch'. We ordered starters and mains that were all delicious and we each got a free cocktail! It has been a while since I visited this spot, got a takeaway of the satay chicken and peanut satay chips! Divine! The girls at work were quite jealous when I came back on my lunch break with this to eat! The satay sauce was really thick and had peanut chunks in it, the chips were beautifully seasoned and paired perfect, with the chicken was melt in the mouth perfect! It was a random choice to visit during a work break but my brother had been there before while on holiday and highly recommended it too!

They burn incense, some would love that, I personally hate the smell but I ignored it easily. Been 7-8 times to Soba, the food has always been top notch, fresh with lots of Asian flavours. Unfortunately the service is consistently extremely poor. There s never anymore than two staff on mid week on the floor, though alway pleasent it doesn't make up for the poor service, I get the impression that the kitchen is equally under staffed as the food can often arrive cold. Waited an hour for food this evening. Such a shame as there s a lot going for this place.

Great bar and restaurant. I picked up a LivingSocial voucher for here and went in the first time but my friend wasn't feeling great so after the starter the server said we could just pay for our drinks and keep the voucher. It was so nice of them to do this as they were keen for us to try there food and enjoy it. We went back last night and am i glad that i did! We had 3 courses each and loved every bite. Would thoroughly recommend the Japanese tempura for starter and pork katsu bun for main. We even treated ourselves to a sharing cocktail which were all around £10 and were worth the price tag. Only downfall is the seating as its a bar at night and restaurant during the day so you are sat close to one another and the tables are quite small, but the food is so good you will clear your plate fast enough. Good vibe and great approachable staff, cannot wait to go back and try more!

Fantastic spot for cocktails. There is a varied drinks menu to suit everyone and the staff are very helpful if you're not quite sure what you're looking for. There are student deals and other offers through the week, but even at weekends drink prices are what you would expect for inner city cocktails. Would definitely recommend an Um Bongo or a Kiwi Chi!

Just went at Soba Edinburgh for dinner with my wife and had a bit of mixed experience - the place looks really cool with a nice vibe and atmosphere, they have live DJ's on Fridays and Saturdays so that must be really cool (we went on a Thursday so cannot tell). On to the food, my Bangkok burger was good though my wife's Masaman Curry wasn't the best with a somewhat chewy meat. Overall a cool place seems fun if you go there with friends or with colleagues for an after-work dinner out. Drinks wise, cocktails were great!! We waited like 10 minutes for a table....but that's cool, guess it's that relaxed vibe the city has...isn't it?

After receiving some deals here, I have now been twice and felt that staff were very friendly each time and that Bar Soba has a fun and trendy ambiance. Their dishes are good, but WAY too spicy! The pad Thai just about set my mouth on fire but, comparatively, it didn't hold a candle to the Thai green curry! I didn't expect to be faced with such intense spice in the island of bland food so was unprepared. I will come back for more pad Thai, but only hoping that they will be able to tone it down a few levels of spicyness next time! It can also be a really loud place, but it's something different.

Lively, warm and welcoming this Asian Fusion restaurant and bar is the perfect spot for a tasty meal over a few glasses of wine. The staff are helpful, suggesting their favourites on the menu and keeping glasses topped up. With a relaxed atmosphere Bar Soba screams Sex in the City. Dinner with my wife and 10 year old daughter. A bit apprehensive at first as my daughter can be picky with food but she had rice with prawns and chips with peanut sauce. Food was great - good flavours, fantastic atmosphere - friendly waiting staff - would definitely go back. Best of all - they take Tesco vouchers to £7.50 of free Tesco vouchers paid for £30 of food.

OK so I visited here last night. I'd heard mixed things - the Bar Soba in Glasgow is apparently legendary and that the Edinburgh version simply isn't up to it's standard. That the service is awful with long wait times if you want to order a cocktail, or if you're waiting to order one whilst the bar staff make them for someone else. Well I'm glad to say that I had a really good time. First of all it was surprisingly good value for money for a bar located just off George Street, probably the most expensive place to drink in Edinburgh. We weren't drinking cocktails but I still managed to get 4 drinks for under £10 (Pro tip Sundays to Wednesdays are cheaper, apparently the prices on some drinks are more expensive Thursday to Saturday). It was quiet ish most of the time I was there and the service was quick and friendly. Inside it's all achingly hip decor from the faux graffiti on the wall facing the bar to white tiled walls that reminded me of Victorian Baths. The atmosphere was pretty nice too - friendly, safe, comfortable and there is a live DJ Booth playing no doubt whatever is considered cool in the music scene right now. I had a good night and is definitely consider going again - next time to sample the food and cocktails which are it's speciality. Definitely a place worth checking out.

The food menu is mostly asian inspired street food with things like dumplings, fishcakes, pad thai, noodles, curries and burgers. My food was really tasty - if you just want something to nibble on while you have a drink, the side of fries was huge and under £3.

(Translated) By chance, this place is divided into 2 levels: on the lower floor there is the restaurant and on the upper floor the bar / pub. I am having only tried the restaurant my review is only on that point. From fusion food that I ate everything was to my liking, since the spicy chicken skewers with peanut and its sauce noodles (the size of the Italian fettuccine) vegetatiani flavored with lime, fresh and tasty at the same time, through the fried ravioli chr seem almost like samosas. I liked it because of the quality of the kitchen and the professionalism and friendliness of the staff. The selection of cocktails to accompany the meal is varied and there are also 4 beers on tap. The prices on the map are modest but so are the portions, so you have to consider a cost of at least £ 20 each to eat + Pint of beer. The desserts looked good but the small portions, for 6 pounds, did not prompt me to order them. Anyway I recommend it, you are in couple or with friends. (Original) Capitato per caso, questo locale è diviso in 2 livelli: al piano inferiore c'è il ristorante ed al piano superiore il bar/pub. Avendo provato solo la ristorazione la mia recensione è solo su quel punto. Da cucina fusion ciò che ho mangiato è stato tutto di mio gradimento, a partire dagli spiedini di pollo speziati con arachidi e relativa salsa ai noodles (dalle dimensioni delle fettuccine italiane) vegetatiani insaporiti al lime, freschi e saporiti allo stesso tempo, passando per dei ravioli fritti chr sembrano quasi dei samosa. Mi è piaciuto per via della qualità della cucina e della professionalità e cordialità dello staff. La selezione di cocktail da accompagnare il pasto è varia e sono presenti anche 4 birre alla spina. I prezzi alla carta sono modici ma lo sono anche le relative porzioni, perciò bisogna considerare una spesa di almeno 20£ a testa per mangiare + Pinta di birra. I dolci avevano un bell'aspetto ma le porzioni ridotte, per 6£, non mi hanno spinto ad ordinarne. Ad ogni modo lo consiglio, che siate in coppia od con amici.
