On the site of the sadly missed Earthy, creating a casually relaxed atmosphere with the friendly staff and the upstairs yoga studio. The surprisingly filling vegan Mac'n' Cheese, maybe not as 'cheesy' as I would have liked but great with extras like jalapenos and oven roasted tomatoes. The avocado with sourdough toast was tasty too. Outside seating allows you to stay distanced, but check for wet seats before you sit down! 😀

Totally in love with the place! There’s plenty of space inside and outside (in the garden area). My avocado toasts were delicious! You definitely need to cross it out your bucket list if you’re vegan and visiting Edinburgh!

Lovely place with a relaxed vibe and a large outdoor space in the back. The staff are really friendly and the food is great. I'm obsessed with their vanilla chai and matcha lattes and the cakes are delicious. They also have a reusable cup deposit scheme which is a great alternative to disposable takeaway cups. I'd recommend booking at weekends which is easy to do on their website. The only con is that the double door entrance can be a bit difficult with a pram if you're on your own, but there's usually someone willing to help.

Vegan cafe’/bakery with a good selection of salads, panini and brunch options. Amazing lattes, tried Pumpkin spice this time and an amazing matcha latte last time. Rather pricey, but good quality ingredients. Spacious, with parking space in front and gardens in the back. Recommend booking online during busiest times of the day. This is not a place for you if a little background noise of young children bothers you. Yoga studio upstairs.

Beautiful cafe with stripped back and minimilistic decor - very relaxing atmosphere and lovely staff. The cafe is surprisingly spacious with a rugged outdoor seating area. The food was also really good (although the blue-flower latte was a little two fragrant to finish) with a great selection of inventive dishes and at a pretty reasonable price.
Highly recommend a trip of you're looking for somewhere to have some tasty vegan friendly food and decompress!

Delicious food and fab service.
Bit of a walk from the city centre but completely worth it

excellent vegan food and drinks. Warm environment and great back garden with seats. Friendly atmosphere and cool decor. I'm so sad to hear this place is closing. I hope to be back before it closes in October.

Don't hesitate to come if you have doubts. To enter here you have a big parking space and the facade is a little bit hidden from the main Street but the reason of that is because this is one of those small paradises hidden at plain sight. It has a lovely big room with an open kitchen. All decorated in the most hippie and cozy way, after that it has a garden twice the size of the building where you can find tables and trees and plants and peace.
The menu is completely vegan and very tasty. In the pictures you can see a brunch option of vegan haggins with Cesar salad and two vegan fried eggs on avocado and lime toast. Really delicious and not very pricey. The staff is lovely and the rest of the menu looks delicious. For what you can observe is always good to booked a table because they are pretty busy. But the garden looks to always have space(some small rooms of the garden have ceiling and very cozy looking sofas).
I'm very pleased to discover this place and I will come back!
Covid-19 notes: wear a mask around the restaurant and wash your hands on the door. No menus.

Commune kinda vibe…in a nice way. Loaded croissant and French toast were great.

I'm so glad this place exists! All food is vegan and there are plenty of gluten free options. The desserts are also delicious! The staff is kind and friendly and the atmosphere is lovely. I also recommend having a seat outside in the beautiful garden when it's sunny.

Honestly, don't let yourselves be fooled by the exterior appearance of this lovely vegan cafe and restaurant. Once you go in, you are in for a treat. Charming staff, amazing food and utterly delicious vegan cakes. Oh, and if you like cheese, order their vegan cheeseboard. You'll be surprised, promise.

If you're a hungry vegan visiting Edinburgh, then you simply MUST head to Beetroot Sauvage and treat your taste buds to some of the mouth watering treats that are on offer.
Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the busy main streets of Edinburgh, this hidden gem offers far more than just delicious food and drinks. This is a vegan cafe, wellness centre and home to Edinburgh community yoga.
Set within a reclaimed industrial unit, some serious love and attention has taken place to turn this building into the warm, welcoming space that it has now become.
Downstairs offers a spacious environment to enjoy a fantastic selection of home made snacks, meals, deserts and drinks. It was hard to choose from the tempting menu. In the end we opted for the vegan mac n cheese, a west African peanut stew, the delicious quiche of the day and despite these all being very filling, we somehow managed to squeeze in a couple of fantastic deserts.... but only just; It was a very difficult choice but the millionaire slice and the chocolate / coconut cake that tasted like a giant Bounty chocolate bar were the winners for us!
For those who aren't all that hungry, there is an extensive range of teas, coffee's and other hot and cold delights.
On warm day's you might want to venture out into the secret garden space behind the building. A lovely tranquil space that has been carefully transformed from it's previous industrial usage.
We loved seeing how not only the building itself, but most of its furnishings and furniture have all been lovingly reclaimed and up-cycled. This space is simply oozing in character!
Upstairs is a fantastic and very surprising open space used for yoga, workshops and other activities. The tall South facing windows mean that even on a rainy day (like it was when we went to visit), this room still feels so bright and fresh. A really fantastic area.
The staff were all so welcoming and friendly, from the moment we walked in, right up until we left with big smiles on our faces.
This should be right at the very top of anyones list of places to eat when visiting Edinburgh. Vegan or not, there is such a wide variety of different things to eat and drink so no matter what you're craving, there will always be something to satisfy it.
We can't wait to go back next time we visit Edinburgh!
A. L.
Would go here every morning if my wallet could afford so. The menu is always changing, with new vegan food choices (their deserts are so flavorful), big wood picnic-style tables, and there is quite an expansive backyard garden with outdoor seating that you should be sure to check out. And some fresh flowers on the tables never hurt anybody!
I had the “tuna” jackfruit avocado open sandwich and some sort of berry creme cake.
P.
Amazing atmosphere and delicious food. I loved their vegan feta and I’m usually really picky with vegan cheese. French Toast was amazing too! I will definitely be back to try more of their menu, everything looked so good.
A. S.
It's completely VEGAN. The food is tasty and hearty. The coffee was here the best so far in my life. The sweetnesses are not too sugary. Everything is freshly made.
V. M.
Came here wanting to taste the blue coffee. But I was very upset by the appearance of the cafe. My friend's cappuccino was brought cold. They forgot to bring the Blue Latte😅
But the photo is beautiful, yes. …
A.
Fantastic place with great food on offer. Has a lovely vibe. Cant wait to go back try some different dishes.
R. W.
Beautiful vegan spot, a nice place to sit and relax. There is a large inside area and outside area. I enjoyed my tea and scone so much I bought a second scone to go.
S. P.
Delicious vegan cheese board with soft sourdough bread. The addition of olives and caramelized onion is fitting. We also got a french toast which in my opinion tasted like pumpkin. The portions were big and I enjoyed the Karma cola which was kinda nostalgic in some weird way. Would visit again.
K. G.
A lovely space with amazing food! We went for brunch and ate enough for the whole day! The haggis roll was wonderful, along with the pastrami sandwich and delicious scones! Also I am not a hot drink fan but the tumeric latte blew me away. Staff are super kind and friendly too and it really is a lovely spot to relax and meet some like-minded people!
m. z.
The best plant based cafe in Edinburgh. Foods are delicious and portions are big. The stuff are lovely.
M. C.
Had a great lunch here today. The scrambled tofu is everything I was hoping for. More places need to serve it. We could not believe how good Thier vegan cheese is. They also serve steampunk coffee and it's hard not to have a couple while you're there. Highly recommended.
K. K.
I have had many lovely meals here over the past four years. However, we stopped by the other week for a late lunch for the first time since Covid, and I don't think we'll be back.
We arrived about an hour before closing time, only to be told the kitchen was already closed. So we decided to order cake and coffee instead. Our coffee took absolutely ages to arrive, but the cakes were delicious, so we left slightly annoyed at the experience, but not too bothered.
However, we have just received a £100 ticket for using the carpark. I have noticed from the response on another review that there is signage up, but tbh, we parked here numerous times in the past and didn't even think to look at the signage. My other half is currently in the process of disputing this, as we have our receipt from the purchase.
This could have been avoided if the staff had mentioned it when we placed our order.
I love the ethos and atmosphere of this place (the rear courtyard is a delightful sanctuary), and have very much enjoyed the food in the past. But I'm afraid this has just left us with a bad taste in our mouths, and I don't think we'll be back :(
J. G. C.
The girls who work in the restaurant are very nice, attentive and friendly and the food is great, the atmosphere is unbeatable, the place is beautiful with a large terrace, I recommend this place 100%
A. H.
What a great place. Well off the beaten track but we enjoyed the walk down and managed to find it easily enough. A very industrial rustic/garden design, I loved the decor and the general vibe. Loads of tasty vegan food on display, including cute cakes for Valentine's Day! We had a mango lassi and a peanut butter smoothie, French toast with banana, coconut bacon (salted, roasted coconut - ace!) and maple syrup and a grilled vegan cheese sandwich, which sounds rather plain by comparison, but the vegan cheese was excellent. We were both completely stuffed after the smoothies!
L. B.
Gorgeous matcha latte with coconut milk. The rainbow salad was amazing as well!! ☺️😋 …
N. T.
Most gorgeous outdoor dining area and devine pizzas! All food was great and the staff so lovely. Perfect for large groups or a romantic dinner for two! ♡
K. B.
Amazing vegan spot! Food, staff, smell and music are 5 stars.
Super friendly environment, they have a garden at the back with a lovely decoration. Simple, good taste and cozy.
Totally recommend.
E. S.
It's lovely. We go there loads with our dog because they have a great garden space out back. Great coffee and cakes, super friendly staff
A. C.
Great experience. Delicious food, relaxed atmosphere. Very dog friendly.
F. P.
The building is fantastic with an amazing huge walled garden patio out back with little semi-private nooks, the serving staff are lovely, dogs are welcome and the non-coffee lattes are fantastic as are the desserts, but I think the savoury food is very hit and miss and I've eaten here a few times and it's never been great. Vegan food can be amazing, but some of the dishes here are bland and lack heart, and substance. I wish they'd do better with the main meals, because I love this place.
M. P.
Tasty vegan food and very kind service. A little cold inside ❄️☃️🤭
N. P.
Beautiful and relaxing place for breakfast or lunch. We had the soup of the day, the stir-fry and the mushroom strogonoff with a mocktail and a tea for £30. Highly recommended!
S. C.
A great space to take care of yourself and relax. The food is lovely, the coffee is really great. The yoga programme has variety and choice. I love it
A. M.
Wonderful place serving delicious plant based food downstairs and running yoga and therapy sessions in the light-filled upstairs area.
L. K.
The afternoon tea was a delight. Delicious and creative sandwiches and cakes along with well executed classics and a range of tasty teas makes for a deeply satisfying culinary experience. The fruit scones were a highlight
W. F.
The local cafe I normally go to have lunch with friends. Nice staff and good food!
B. L.
Came for lunch one afternoon. Everything is done by app so ordering etc means limited contact with others. Seating is well spaced out and the food was delicious. Such a lovely atmosphere, a real highlight to my Edinburgh visit.
J. B.
Wow great venue for a yoga day. Wonderful private space upstairs. Bright airy warm and comfortable with everything on hand
With good weather we got to enjoy a delicious delicious healthy lunch outside
Yoga teacher Esme Lopez was brilliant, inspiring challenging encouraging and supportive. Her wealth of experience and range of knowledge insures you get a lot out of the day. I would recommend the yoga days at Beetroot Sauvage to anyone interested in yoga and well being whatever level of knowledge or interest you have in yoga and your own body

Lovely little place - excellent service, big courtyard to enjoy the sun ☀️ and tasty food. What more would you want? Absolutely recommended.
A. A. R.
One of the best vegan restaurant of Edinburgh. The food is tasty and the ingredients super fresh. Also the the staff is always very helpful and friendly. The restaurant has a backyard garden so outside seating is possibility when the weather allows it.
S. B.
Great food, friendly atmosphere and nice staff. Best Café I’ve been to in Edinburgh. Very good prices and great coffee. Will be back!
B. M. (.
Favourite cafe/restaurant ever! Their food is amazing, well priced and they have many different dishes for different tastes! Their vegan cheeses are the best I’ve ever tried, when I lived in Edinburgh I was obsessed with them even though I wasn’t vegan!
Love both the inside and the outdoor garden, and the staff is so so nice!
I went many times including with my mother which usually doesn’t like vegan restaurants as she finds the food too complex, but she loved Beetroot too!
If you haven’t been there yet you absolutely HAVE to, you won’t regret it!
c. h.
If you care about eating fully vegan food this is the cafe to go to. The staff go above and beyond to be helpful and considerate. The relaxed atmosphere and the beautiful garden seating area invites you to return again and again, the staff also love and welcome dogs with water bowls and plenty of cuddles. This cafe very quickly becomes a regular stop for great coffee and cakes.

I come here often for breakfast and lunch and I really love it. It has a good selection of both healthy and naughty treats. I love their smoothie bowls, soups, full breakfast plate and their mac and cheese topped with veggie haggis. In fact I like everything I have tried on the menu. They always have a good selection of cakes and tray bakes too! So good. And a lovely seating area out the back which is great on a sunny day.
L. S.
I absolutely love eating here, there is so much to enjoy. The food is exceptional and plant based but if you are thinking boring salad you could not be more wrong. You can taste the love and creativity that goes into each dish. Then there’s the coffee... excellent! Finally, the venue is wonderful... there’s a large beautiful outside area with an abundance of plants and fresh produce growing. Please go, you will not be disappointed
S. A.
Lovely atmosphere and people. I like there's parking space and love their sweet stuff. Came back two days in a row, had the French toast and the brownie the next day with a hot chocolate.
A. T.
Everything is great! Food, events, yoga, atmosphere. I love this great little cafe and community centre. It has a really cool, chill, earthy vibe. The back patio is so nice for those rare nice Edinburgh days. The food is delicious. The scones and cheese are absolutely divine! I enjoy yoga through the Edinburgh Community Yoga Centre. And went to a vegan wine and cheese night that was so lovely.

THE BEST VEGAN PLACE IN EDINBURGH!!
Me and my boyfriend had a Halloumi & Harissa Bowl and Açai Smoothie Bowl. It was so tasty and fresh. Coffee was also okay :)
The decor is really nice and friendly staff!!
Definitely worth to try! You'll be satisfied.

We so enjoyed our breakfast. Glorious food & plenty of it. Coffee smoothie was great too. Bought 2 packs of their home made cheese, really good. This place oozes with character❤ & a must if you're visiting Edinburgh!
J. M.
I love this vegan plant based cafe. Great choice of food and salads and plenty of teas, smoothies and other healthy drinks. Carafes of water and glasses are available for the table. Sometimes you have to join others at the long tables but its all very pleasant and sociable. A must visit.
t. w. f. b.
Really good menu for vegans and vegetarians, I had the scrambled tofu which was tasty. Very family friendly. The "cheesecake" wasn't quite right - very dense and not much mango flavour for a mango "cheesecake" but good coffee & free parking if there's space.
c. w.
My favourite chill out spot - the yoga classes are fab with underfloor heating, the studio is so fresh and clean, the best studio I have tried. The cafe is just perfect with all the best vegan options
H. H.
Beetroot Sauvage is an excellent cafe/diner. The food and drinks are all very tempting & reasonable price wise. Good portions of delicious food. Friendly, happy staff. Good vibe and table/chair space both inside and out (weather permitting). This place has it all.
T. O.
Fantastic vegan cafe, great atmosphere, a wide choice of tasty savouries and desserts. Friendly helpful staff, great to have a vegan cafe that welcomes dogs too. Lots of space inside, even more outside, plus a car park. A hidden gem in Edinburgh, will be spreading the word and plan to return regularly. I’d recommend not only to vegans, veggies, but also to anyone who enjoys delicious food, and to those with a dog. Wellness Centre upstairs offering yoga classes too. Can’t wait to return :-D
R. K. (.
Great tasty, wholesome and healthy vegan foods! Good for kids. Staff was friendly and service was quick. But it was so cold inside that we were sitting in wearing all our winter layers. Please put on some heating.
S. J.
Great variety of vegan food with gluten free options. Friendly staff. Lots of room and many tables. Car park. Reasonably priced. This is our third time here and will be happy to return again.
M.
Amazing vegan food and very friendly staff! The best porridge and açai bowl ever. The coffee was also delicious. What a place! We will be back.
N. S.
If you are vegan you'll find it very good. I am not vegan, so cannot say for sure. However, food was good, tea nice and hot. There are 2 outdoor seating areas and a lot of tables inside. The place had it's own car park which is vital for Edinburgh
L. S.
Delicious plant-based afternoon on lovely vintage china in a seriously stylish unique venue. Best afternoon tea I’ve had in years. Great for kids - heaps of space, a large safe outdoor area and indoor toy corner. My 5 year old was very happy to be here
V. L.
Lovely relaxed atmosphere, delicious food and my double espresso shake was thick, creamy and an absolute joy.
J. P.
Cafe has excellent food and coffee but it's popularity makes it very busy and surprisingly the customers seem to have forgotten the importance of maintaining a degree of separation. Lots of people milling around while the staff are very busy making and serving the great food.
C. L.
Lovely plant based café with a large selection of teas, coffees and other hot drinks - I love their beetroot latte! The brunch is huge and delicious. They also have yoga classes upstairs!
D. C.
Lovely vegan food in Edinburgh 💖 ~ I am usually a regular at yoga at Beetroot Sauvage but was finally able to try their food. Was not disappointed. Really love the vibe in the outdoor garden space, was very tranquil. ✨ …

I followed this place for months on Instagram from Colorado and couldn’t wait to eat here while on a trip to Scotland. My dear husband navigated the bus routes to make sure I got to eat here and I certainly appreciate his labor of love. It was delicious! My husband had the pesto mozzarella melt, which comes with sun dried tomatoes, though they happily subbed avocado. He’s not a vegetarian but was pleased with the sandwich and greens. Our son got the same melt (with the sun dried tomatoes) and declared it best panini ever. Our other son got the French toast, and though we all desperately wanted a bite, we were denied. My mom and I shared a Buddha bowl with hummus, sweet potato, roasted red pepper and quinoa. Quite delicious. We also had a snicker square. Also tasty. I would recommend this place and am just sad I can’t go again to try something else.
B. R.
One of my favourite places in the city! Their food options are so good, sweets or savouries both are unbelievable delicious! The community is just amazing, staff is super friendly and easy going! also their ongoing classes are great, this is such a great place!
K. M. C.
Gorgeous food and an excellent atmosphere. Love taking our kids and dog here to cater to our many dietary needs! Lots of gluten free options, so I'm happy.
E. R.
Really lovely food and staff, could have stayed in there all day the atmosphere is so relaxing 😊 would recommend the French toast and the haggis roll! …
P. R.
Great vegan dog friendly cafe. Service wasn't the quickest, but food definitely made up for it. Absolutely delicious! I'm tempted to go back tomorrow before heading back up north. 😁 …
S. R.
Calm and welcoming venue. Yoga studio upstairs and secret garden wonderland outside. Perfect if you want an escape from the city without leaving the city.
Vegan menu and locally produced products including Left Field Kombucha.
Staff are accomodating and friendly.
I've also booked the studio upstairs for a private event - team yoga followed by breakfast and it went down a treat.
M. R.
Excellent food. Nice environment, peaceful and relaxing. The staff are very kind. Been attending since 3 years ago already and love it.
S. H.
The vegan food and drink at Beetroot Sauvage is so delicious and fresh. I’m not vegan or vegetarian, I simply like good food made with high quality ingredients, which Beetroot Sauvage does so well.

Great menue, selection, prices and staff. Chill big atmosphere, very content. 😊🌟🌈 …
C. G.
A bit pretentious although the staff are friendly. I was told there was a long wait for food which I thought was ridiculous as there were hardly any customers. The tea was good.
M. Y.
Healthy, tasty food & amazing staff. Love the place ❤️
M. 4.
Super friendly staff and a delicious vegan Philly cheese steak sandwich. Coffee was awesome too. Will definitely be back.

Vegan food in a comfortably simple environment. They also offer yoga classes.
Do: settle in for wholesome eats and drinks.
Don't: expect any concessions - no cow milk.

Excellent vegan afternoon tea. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the food was beautiful. Would definitely go again!

Lovely food, lovely staff, good value, well set up for social distancing etc, wheelchair accessible (though the toilet may be problematic for transferring to as there's no space next to it to put the wheelchair.

D. G.
I'm not vegan, but I love fresh food cooked with panache and that is what Beetroot Sauvage offers. Been many times, including to a very jolly cooking lesson. I'm a big fan of the Bhudda bowl and the cheesecake but everything is good - and the turmeric lattes are second to none.
A. D.

(Translated) The place is very nice, but the day we went it was quite disorganized and there were a lot of people. Since we traveled a lot to get there, we stayed and tried their breakfast. The muffins were exquisite, the coffee too, but the avocado toast was the best or they skimped on the avocado and the scrambled tofu, all abundant and well served although it took a while. Orders are made from the table with a qr code and paid online by card. We had some connection problems and it took us longer, they should consider that tourists generally do not have the best internet connection and that can complicate us. Otherwise it was delicious.

Einrichtung ok Ausblick naja

Unfortunately too complicated ordering process!!
Everything at hand and pay even though there are 3 cellars in the store with moderate visitors. Unfortunately impersonal and really exhausting in the morning simply ordering a coffee from the cellar is not! Food is ok but nothing special hence the 3 stars! Facility ok view well
