We went in for coffee and then fancied some cocktails but were told they didn't do my favourite, a Grasshopper. However, subsequently another barman decided he would rise to the challenge and duly produced a fantastic Grasshopper. The other cocktails were excellent and reasonably priced but the efforts of the barman and other staff really made it a memorable experience.

Lovely relaxing place. We were seated in our chosen place quickly and served almost immediately. We ate from the lunch menu which was a great price and a very good choice of meals. A lovely glass of red wine and two courses was little more than a tenner. Food was perfect and I was very happy. Would definitely come here again.

Popped in here for dinner - have always walked past it and it looked busy so we tried it. We all did the two course for 12.95 which was pretty reasonable. I had the burger - a little overdone but enjoyable, and the apple pie. The service was nice and quick - food came in a decent amount of time which was good and we were able to pay separately which was nice. The bathrooms are downstairs and was very clean. It wasn’t packed when we were there but they seem to do a lot of music nights. Very reasonable.

In the centre of Edinburgh good sized restaurant and reasonably priced food . Food was very rich , Scottish salmon with cream , veg , and tattys . Salmon was a great size but no flavour in the sauce it was simply cream with dill in at the end . The chicken stuffed with haggis on a bed of mash with a tarragon cream sauce had plenty of flavour a great big punch in the mouth and a good amount for one . Great if your hungry . Two meals for £12.95 or Three for £14.95 , Diet coke £2.20 . Parking near £3.70 hour in the centre

A nice place, cozy and serves real nice food, there's always a lunch deal between 12 and 4 pm, 2 courses for 8 quids, which I find perfectly good, food is yummy and portions are not bad at all, been there 2 times already, service ia not bad, didn't face any problem, I got fish and chips and calamary salad, another time got the fried pepper with feta and spinach, and main dish is battery chicken which is really delicious

Great welcome from serving staff as always. Very few people as it was lunch on a Tuesday and after lockdown. Lovely lunch and fine refreshments. Looking out those huge windows at life outside was such a pleasure. It was a joy to be back. The food was very good. I will return.

We came here on two evening during our Scotland Tour 2018. The food is average and not bad, the dessert was very good though. The portions were plenty. The prices are fine for a city centre. Special focus lies on the staff - they are very welcoming, very nice and very supportive.

Went for lunch recently. The lunch deal is worth it, 8.85 for an entree and main. The food arrived in a reasonable time, the staff was generally nice and the lunch went without an issue. Looked forward to my lunch, was on my own and stated this when being seated, it was not overly busy yet I had, a good 20 min wait to be served. Ordered my salad which came with a "dressing" it was more like a soup than dressing, it was drenched all over the salad, I actually couldn't eat it as there was was too much of it. I left 2/3 as I actually couldn't taste any of the ingredients. I mentioned this to the manager as I paid. He said that the chef was a very generous man, which I understood, I suggested that they inform patrons that they advise its a lot of dressing or change menu to state dressing on the side. He was very helpful and said he'd take these opinions on board. I think I would be happy to try eating there again.

Nice friendly staff... however... upon looking at our Bill it was £4.50 for a pint of draft diet coke.. we had 3 so was basically £15.00 for three glasses of coke... absolutely outrageous.. could walk over to tesco and but a bottle for 1.99.. pity in Edinburgh alot and would of went back apart from that.

The people who gave negative reviews probably went in with an attitude. The staff are good . Care given to specific needs . Go to the loo before going lots of stairs. Food here was lovely and comes in quite large portions. The prices are reasonable and the staff were very friendly and to top it all off, they have a 20% student discount. Perfect for the financially restricted students.

Food can be quite hit or miss, though some occasionally spectacular meals have been served. Mostly students due to proximity of Old College and other uni buildings, evenings seem to have the same student crowd. Drinks do get a decently dearer in the evening, moreso than surrounding pubs

Biblos is very large, and nice! Staff is kind, although pretty slow, and the food is delicious. You can sit in a bar area with live music, or a restaurant area. We tried haggis for the first time here, and it was actually pretty good! If you're visiting Scotland for the first time, make sure not to leave without trying haggis, and this is a good place to try it, although you can find it almost anywhere.

Biblos has been around for as long as I've lived in Edinburgh, and it's a reliable bar. Drinks wise there is a standard selection or beers, wines and spirits and there is a farily standard cocktail menu too. The cocktails are enjoyable, but will probably not 'wow' you...the sort of place where you'll get a nice French martini. They offer student discount on certain drinks, and a discount on food for all customers.All drinks are priced at fairly standard Edinburgh prices.The decor (as suggested by the name) has the feel of a library from yesteryear; shelves full of old books, armchairs to sink into, pictures of classic writers. It is an enjoyable pub to visit for a few drinks, and can be a good spot to meet before heading on to another venue. Food wise, the quality has varied over the years (I'm not sure if this is due to management, or chefs or whatnot). On my most recent visit we shared a plate of chicken nachos, and they weren't the best. The tortillas were a bit stale, too much orange cheese,standard bought in salsa and guacamole, and just not very tasty. It's a shame, becasue it doesn't take a lot of effort, or talent to make a good plate of nachos. I have sampled some good meals over the years, so this most recent visit wouldn't put me off ordering food again.

I am a wheelchair user and I recently visited Edinburgh for the Fringe & Tattoo. We came here for a quick lunch as we were staying in a hotel nearby, and I have to say that the beef ravioli was one of the tastiest meals I had during my 3 weeks visiting the UK. The staff were warm and friendly and the building was wheelchair friendly - a quality lacking in much of this beautiful city.
