The restaurant appeared clean and the server was friendly and helpful. The haggis bites were very good. The fish was very good; the chips were average. The food was delivered quickly. Overall, it’s a good place in the Royal Mile.

Great lunch here! It was raining and we were cold and damp. Jed, our waiter, was brilliant! He sat us a warm corner in a booth and was so friendly and welcoming, I can't recommend him highly enough. Credit to the FS. Fab food, great relaxed atmosphere and fabulous service. 👌

We visited FS on Sunday afternoon for lunch. The weather was nice and we sat outside. The staff was very friendly and smiley, that even if they didn't have what we initially wanted, was not a problem. We had the chicken tower and the pulled pork burgers and both were very tasty.

Having had a great day in Edinburgh we arrived into The Filling station. We all enjoyed a great meal and Lukasz made it more enjoyable by having fun with our two little boys, they both giggled with the idea of ketchup on their ice cream. Great food and wonderful atmosphere with lovely staff, hygiene was excellent. Thank for a great end to a wonderful day.

Fantastic food and service! My parents and I had the pleasure of being served by Jed who was very friendly and attentive to our needs. We really enjoyed speaking with him and he made the dining experience very memorable for us. I highly recommend this Filling Station to anyone, the atmosphere is cozy and the servers are phenomenal. If anyone is lucky enough to get Jed then do take care of him because he'll do the same for you!

Seems to be the only the second child friendly pub in this area! 21st century and we still don't have good access for disabled or buggies! So glad this place has taken that on board. Will highly recommend as my hubby and son had a lovely lunch here and they were able to chill without having to scramble for baby changing room. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff with good food. What more can you want. For those of you with kids highly recommend this place in Old Town.

Went for a breakfast which was lovely! Waited a while as there was a mix up in the kitchen but the gentleman who served us took money off our bill and give us a coffee on the house for our wait. I can't remember his name but it was the best service I have ever received when dining out hence why we decided to visit again. Unfortunately we didn't tip due to having no cash and we didn't realise you could tip on card. We come again for dinner tonight to be pleasantly greeted by him again ( thank god ) hoping he would know how much we appreciated his service as we wanted to leave a tip for him. He brought crayons over for my baby to keep her occupied too which was nice. However a lady had to take over and my partner got a cocktail but he couldn't drink it as it was just tastless ice ... we made the lady aware, and she took it come back and said that she had blended it so it maybe easier to drink. He still wasn't happy so she offered to take it away when we heard laughing between her and " the manager " over the cocktail and her asking what table number it was. She didn't ask once how our food was neither and my partner was quite infuriated that the ladies were laughing in regards to the drink as we felt awkward complaining in the first place. She also kept walking away when my partner was trying to ask her things.p Did not tip because of the service received by these ladies. But if the gentleman who served us before hand sees this, Thank you your service is appreciated and if we visit again, we will be sure to show our appreciation. The food was nice ( partner got a steak I got chicken and ribs combo ) thanks to the ladies that made us feel like rubbish after ,but the breakfast was beautiful, again thank you to the lovely pleasant gent who serves us with a smile 😃 x

First but not last visit to the Filling Station. Our server Sophie was lovely and very patient whilst we tried to decide what we were having. Couldn’t fault our food, drink or the price we paid for our meals. Our son is studying at University of Edinburgh and now we know where we can get a nice meal in a great location with excellent staff, we will definitely be back.

Seated quickly, clean booth and friendly staff but unfortunately the food was disappointing. Both me and my wife are vegetarians and we found both meals bland. I had the ‘veggie chilli’ which lacked seasoning and chilli plus the rice reminded me of a packet rice. Desert failed to hit the spot too, Oreo cheesecake was okay but the sticky toffee pudding came out barely warm and extremely dry. Overall it was okay and perhaps meat eaters would have a better dining experience as others around us seemed to be enjoying the burgers.

My good god!! This place is insane! Okay - from the beginning we was greeted to our seats by a very polite young lady named Jessica. She openly asked without hesitation if any of us has allergies to which one of us has a really bad strawberry allergic reaction on the skin. Therefore she made the upmost best effort to make sure everything including the drinking glass we drank from was thoroughly cleaned. Then out comes the food! Now I’ve tasted pizzas all my life but this beats the lot! The taste is remarkable and has opened up taste buds I never knew I had! Then the chocolate fudge brownie for after, WOW!! I’m not going to spoil it for you. The aftercare watching the team clean down seating from previous diners was beyond excellent. I admire the fact they cleaned down the seating cubicals more than once to make sure they cleaned every last inch! I fully recommend this place to eat in. As expected there may be times where the restaurant may be busy, but I wouldn’t let this turn you down. If your having a trip to Edinburgh I would sure make this one of your stops! The prices are very reasonable also!

Huge portions and extemely cheap! We visited only twice at lunch time and the 2 course menu's quality was not the best, sometimes a bit tasteless, but for the price it's worth a visit or two. Loved how you can get free refill on the soft drinks. First time we got a very lovely and attentive waitress, unfortunately next time we got a bored looking dude who quite much ignored us... but I would still recommend the place if you are looking for plenty of food for a small price. (2017 February) My second visit happened during Edinburgh Fringe (2018 August) so pretty much everything was super crowded. But they always found a table for me and were super nice. The food was exceptional and the portions still huge. They are becoming my new favourite place to eat when visiting Edinburgh.

I loved this place. Looking from outside and as the name "filling station" would expect just a simple food station, its much more. Large and comfortable seats and a wide offer of different food and drinks. But the very best is that super friendly and helpfull staff. Very fast service and always willing to help whereever they can. And for sure it wasnt that easy with me as i am very bad in making fast decisions :) I remenber one lady from Latvia i think, she was so patient with me and helpfull. Thanks for that. Always glady coming back to here.

Really liked this place. Had a lovely traditional breakfast. Very good service. Nice atmosphere. Was all great until a visit to the toilets. I found the disabled toilet in a disgusting state, my wife found the ladies were very unclean and smelt horrible. We were there about 10am so we can only assume toilets weren't cleaned this morning at all. Ruined a good experience for us both! Everything else was spot on!

The best place to eat when you're in Edinburgh. We ate there almost every evening during our stay. It looks like an American Diner inside. The food is great amd you can choose from a large variety of burgers, steaks, sandwiches etc. Drinks are great, too; they even serve cocktails. The staff is great. Well trained, fast, hard working, friendly and funny as well. Only deficit: The toilets could be cleaned more often.

Good food, good selection of drinks, great service. We was having a little trouble settling our 10 baby and getting her to eat a junior pasta meal. Staff where kind enough to take mine and my wife's meals back to keep them heated while we settled her down. Later discovered that the kids pasta meal had pepperoni in the meal which wasn't described on the menu? Apart from the pasta meal we had a great time. Well done.

In a nutshell, the food is simply delicious. Usually, the waiting times aren't long either. The interior looks great as well. The waiters are all really nice too. Overall, I can only recommend it.

Fantastic food and friendly service would go again. Two negatives; one they have added frosted perspex screens to seating booth so you can't see all the memorabilia on the walls should added clear. Second one breakfast menu is limited on 3 items. But the items they have are unreal so it's a small negative.

Walking down from the castle towards the Balmoral, feeling a little hungry, when we saw the Filling Station. We looked at the menu and liked what we saw, but across the street there was a Frankie and Benny's. We decided to try something new and go into the Filling Station, and I'm so glad we did. Price wise the two are similar, but everything else about this restaurant blows the American Italian chain out of the water. We were served by a lady called Asia, who was very accommodating and kind, helping make recommendations to us about what to eat. I decided upon the Roadside Sliders, three mini burgers from the menu served with chips and coleslaw, and they were gorgeous. Honestly I would highly recommend this establishment, whether solo, as a couple or in a group, this is definitely a place to visit.

It is as close to American restarant food you are going to get in Scotland...not including McDs and KFC, AND Burger King. I had mashed potatoes and bbq wings with an orange soda. Their potatoes are delicious. Customer service was great! I went their twice in Edinburgh...on the royal mile, in the middle of the festival activities.

Perfect place to stop and have drinks or food on the Royal Mile. Kid friendly with a good junior menu. Excellent service and very clean, with them cleaning tables and seating areas thoroughly between customers. Great atmosphere both inside and in the outside seating area. I needed a short quick dinner one evening, and I popped into this American styled place. I was pleasantly surprised by the shrimp appetizer, which fed me perfectly, and they had an incredible assortment of beers, wines, and ciders. I had Old Mout Summer Berries Cider from a recommendation from a friend, and it was excellent. Service was quick and friendly.
