Loved the food. Portions are very generous and taste very nice. We ordered all the vegetarian. Dishes and loved everything. Chef was nice, came out and asked the feedback for food. Service was good too.

Fantastic food, great service at a reasonable cost. Great service by the staff who are very helpful and polite and accomodating. Try the Garlic Chilli Chicken and garlic nan bread, it's outstanding. Overall, one of the best curry houses in Edinburgh.

Excellent experience all round! Lovely staff who are very attentive and helped us identify the vegan options. Food was nice enough, but nothing to shout about, especially as it was at the higher end of pricing. As other people have mentioned, it seems understaffed, so service very slow, though the the staff were lovely. Restaurant felt tired and toilet was tatty. This was a decent meal, particularly considering the desert of good Indian restaurants that is Edinburgh. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is that the mixed grill was a tad dry, especially the prawns that had been disappointingly incinerated. Still a definite recommend though - friendly service, nice sauces and generous portions.

Had a great experience last night with my fiancy . Good food with Indian flavours which remembered my home with spices. Excellent meal and attentive staff. The tapas quantities are quite large so you can't order too many. It's good to get away from restaurant chains. It has a feeling of being new to the staff, so maybe it has just opened. It was certainly very quiet for a restaurant so close to the Festival Theatre when there's an opera. There was an Indian family having a meal there, so this implies authenticity. (Just as I like seeing Italians eating in an Italian restaurant.) The only criticism is that the tables are really too small. Tapas involves having a number of dishes so the tables need to be bigger, not smaller. We arrived early and the restaurant had quite a few empty tables, yet we were directed to a table for two.

We ate here for the first time on a Weekend few weeks ago. I was worth! The staff were very friendly, attentive and enthusiastic about the food they were serving. Every course was delicious and beautifully presented. All of the sauces and accompaniments were fresh-tasting. We enjoyed our meal and were very impressed and pleased . If you like Indian cooking and would like to try something a bit different, this fits the bill.

Just back from this fabulous Indian restaurant in Edinburgh We have been to the Glasgow equivalent and loved it as well, this was even better. Tapas food at its best, service great and atmosphere good We had 4 tapas between 2 people, good sized portion and so tasty and fresh. Will definitely be back soon

Excellent food and service. There were over 50 Indian people dining in the restaurant, absolute vindication that this is one of the best Indian restaurants in Edinburgh. The taste and mix of spices made for tremendous authentic eating. I highly recommend the Kama Sutra and would come back.

The food was lovely. The black lentil curry was beautiful and I recommend it. My only complaint would be I felt the place needed a good clean. The toilets were grubby. Mark's on the doors and skirting etc. Nothing desperately filthy but definitely noticable.

I visited the Kama Sutra restaurant with my friends for dinner last week. Undoubtedly this place turned out to be the best Indian food I have had in the UK. I can't stress enough on the warm welcome we were given by the staff. As for the drinks and menu selection, there were a lot of varieties. The staff were careful enough to understand our individual tastes and suggested us options according to that. The starters were amazing. I will definitely recommend the lamb chops which were so juicy and tasty. All the chicken and lamb curries we ordered for main course were delicious and each had a different, yet equally amazing flavour to it. I will definitely come back to this place over and over again and recommend it to everyone who would like to enjoy a true Indian culinary experience in the UK. A special thank you to the staff! :)

My wife and I saw the restaurant by chance and decided to sample a few of the dishes. I am so glad we did. We both agreed that the food was probably the best Indian fusion food we have had in a long time. The naan was light and delicious and complemented the excellent Murg do pyaaza chicken very well. It is also nice to find a restaurant that allows small dishes to be sampled. Worth every penny!

Very nice food. We went midweek, it was quiet, but the dishes exceeded expectations and every item was very nicely done. They call the servings small so two of us had three dishes plus appetizers (samozas and naan) but it was actually abundant and plenty. Homemade sauces and the curry were very tasty.

A nice wee Indian restaurant that serves excellent food. A pre-cinema experience that was delightful. My friends and I were very pleased. There was a large party in at the same time, who were using a buffet-type service. It was particularly noisy and people were getting too close for comfort whilst I was eating. Good food though.

A proper Indian. Really nice staff. You can choose a full main meal or tapas, which you choose two dishes which is equivalent to a full main meal. Also, if there are 15 or more booking, then they will do a buffet style meal.

Waitress was friendly. Didn't expect the food to be as good as it was. We ordered the Chicken Korma, garlic and coriander naan, Lamb Shank prepared with traditional Indian spices and slow cooked over night. And a saffron/fruit desert with a sorbet texture. We tried the chicken do piaza, chole poori, samosas, kadi pakora, naan and mango lassi. Everything was great - it was the first traditional tasting Indian place we have tried so far in the UK. We tried Dishoom Edinburgh before this and really found it mediocre, recommend going here instead. Oh, also kudos to the staff here, they are absolutely great and honest - we asked if the fish in the starters was fresh/local and they were completely up front it was frozen.

my boyfriend and I randomly chose this Indian restaurant as our first indian food experience, and it turned out to be a nice try. We ordered the lamb curry with pepper and onion, a mild chicken curry with coconut milk, a coriander Naan, all of them are tasty! The boiled rice is not the type of rice I like, it is too dry. Overall we will come back again to try more flavor of curry!

Nice food, butter chicken could have had a thicker consistency but didn't detract from taste. Service charged added to each bill at 10% when you're just getting bottles of overpriced wine and have to open one of them yourself slightly annoying as they start to add up. When queried waiter arranged refund. Woman behind till with attitude problem gave us the dirtiest look and made us feel uncomfortable, instead of refunding the £6 gave us £2 part of which was in 2ps. Terrible management service which detracted from what was a good experience. Service met timings in show, one waiter did a lot more work than the others who seemed to watch him struggle on. Restraunt could do with a deep clean and freshening up. Thick dust on decorations.

I waited a long time to be sat, I was alone. Then I sat at my table for close to 7 minutes before my order was taken. I ordered masala chai, it tasted like cinnamon flavoured water. To eat, I ordered tarka daal. When it arrived it smelled delicious, then I tasted it .... So salty, there was not enough rice on the planet to dilute how salty the daal was. It did have a nice spice to it, not too mild and not overpowering, you knew it was there. I ordered Rogan Josh as well as the menu said they were small portions. I only hope it lives up to being more than just ok like my daal. The portions I think are reguar sized, especially if you order any extras other than rice. It was reasonably priced but I couldve saved even more had I known the portions we're going to be so large. The service was unimpressive, scattered and I felt forgotten more than once . I sat at the table with my card on the bill for over 5 minutes with several staff walking by and no one stopping to take my payment. I honestly could probably have left and they'd have been none the wiser! I would never do such a thing but it made me think as I got up to try paying at the front as the staff around me at the time all said goodbye!! I'd say if everything else was closed and you were starving, stop in, otherwise there are other Indian spots close by worth while and a Nepalese place "Ginger" straight up the road (cross the main street) which is where I was headed but it was closed today.

"Great North Indian Food - some of the best in Britain" We had an absolutely delightful dinner experience here after having initially hesitated from hearing the name. But as soon as we stepped in we were very much welcomed and the head chef even came out to greet us and take our orders along with providing recommendations. The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice and the wall art was thankfully had very little to do with the name of the restaurant. Service was prompt and we our glasses were never allowed to go empty. We ordered Naan, Dal Makhani, a few vegetarian appetizers (Samosa etc.), Jeera Rice, Raita and Ajwaini Bhindi. It turned out to be more than enough food to feed us all and it came out to half of what we paid at other area restaurants. So the value of the restaurant is great when compared to other similarly rated restaurants. I would highly recommend one go to this restaurant with a reservation in hand because it looks to be a very busy place and it took a while to be seated for those that didn't have a reservation. Then again that is what you get for not having one on a Friday night.

best Indo Tapas I had in U.K. I went with my family, while visiting Edinburgh, staff was very friendly and food was fantastic. A brillant expérience!!! Went for a family meal and Alok the manager on the premises helped us choose the perfect meal (off menu items).Very high quality Indian cuisine in the Scottish capital. I would high recommend Kama Sutra to locals and tourist travelling to Edinburg, please ask for Alok or one of his team members they always happy to help and suggest great variety if you are unsure of what you want to eat like me :). After an exhausted trekking experience climbing Arthur's seat we were seriously craving for some good food. Google suggested Kamasutra restaurant which is hardly 20 mins walk from Holyrood. We ordered Lamb Himalayan Hot Pot curry, dal makhni, fish Lahori, naan and basmati rice. The food arrived pretty quickly and the service was fabulous. The food tasted delicious and reminded us flavours from North India. Portion was really filling. For dessert we ordered a matka kulfi which was home made and was really awesome. If you are looking for authentic Indian food you won't be disappointed with this Restaurant.
