Reviews of Laila Lunch & Brunch
S. U.
A cute little cafe in the heart of Edinburgh Old Town. This cafe serves breakfast/ lunch / brunch. Everything is pink and perfect for kids and adults alike. The dishes were well presented and our server Mo was exceptional. All the food came out quick. Personally I did the think the pancakes were a little dry and needed more sauce or something else, they are served with candyfloss on top which the kids loved. The unicorn and ruby latte were subtle in taste, but if you add coffee it may be better. Overall a really Instagramable cafe.

Great decor but average food. However, they offer some very interesting options that you likely won't find elsewhere like the "satay French toast". Seating and service can be very slow given that they get busy. Would definitely try to revisit and update the score after I try other food options as they are one of few halal food places that are offering something different.

You cannot leave Edinburgh without trying the birthday cake they have. It’s just the best! Trust me… I’m a cake lover and this was the best I’ve tried in a while, it was perfect!! Plus it was a big portion for a cake, you can easily share (but it is so delicious that you might not want to).
The service was really nice as well, they were very attentive and smiley. We didn’t have a booking but it was not that crowded so we could find a table. Later on that same day we passed by and it was full… so consider booking online.
You can have a beautiful view if you eat outdoors.
It is a little bit pricey but totally worth it. We had a chai, hot chocolate, and the birthday cake; £16,50 I think.
I’m actually sad we don’t have this café where I live.
R. K.
Website clearly says they keep tables available for walk-in customers but then claimed to be fully booked for the whole day.
They do not offer cooked food outdoors, nor takeaway and the girl on the door was not very helpful in suggesting alternatives either.
Shame about the customer experience really, as it seems like quite a cool cafe.
Edit: fast forward a few months and I decided to try my luck again. Can honestly give this place a 10/10 - from the service to the food. It lived up to expectations 🙌🏼. My previously 1 star is now a 5.

The pancakes and the waffle was really nice, capuccino was small for the price though. If you like to take photos to your food you will enjoy it. Keep in mind that it's a bit pricey so you don't receive the surprise when you ask for the bill, worth it though 👌
J.
Super dreamy Instagram cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. Attentive staff and a healthy menu. Fantastic choices of non-caffeine alternate drinks. Came on a weekday afternoon and was fortunate that I didn't need a reservation.
A. T.
One of the best cafés in Edinburgh for breakfast and brunch. Go for any dish you like, it’s equally tasty. Maria was very kind enough to accommodate us even without our table reserved.
M. S.
Visited here in December and the older gentleman that served us was really nice. Liked the waffles but didn’t enjoy the cake very much. Interior is beautiful and looks great for the photos 😉
P. D.
Really good brunch place, the chicken pitta was delicious, the aioli and chillis made it taste really unique. The waffles that others in the party had, looked amazing and tasted amazing too. Coffees were fab, nice to have something a bit different. We didn't have space for the incredible looking cakes, so they packed us one to takeaway. Staff were lovely, despite being really busy. would defo recommend.
K. K.
Was out and about Edinburgh with my daughter for the school holidays. As we passed Laila's she wanted her morning snack (definitely a rare treat) and she loved the pink and flowers everywhere. They were clearly under a bit of pressure as really busy and potentially short staffed. The cost for this particular snack, £12 for those pancakes was a little over priced, but I guess premium for their location. Over all it was nice enough, but not somewhere I'd rush back to. The staff were friendly and did their best to make sure we enjoyed our visit.
N. G.
service was slow. waited for almost 30 mins for our pancakes which I believe that has been ready to be served for awhile but they forgot. pancakes was cold and not fluffy. the staff that served our table was not friendly. the table that we were seated at was so slanted making us uncomfortable to eat at peace. only good thing is the food was pretty. friend ordered a hot chocolate for £4 ish and gosh the cup was so small.
M. A.
Nice breakfast/brunch spot on the Royal Mile. We didn’t have a booking however staff allocated us a table. Food and drinks were good and prices were decent too!
N. W.
Food was lovely and staff were friendly however we waited over 40mins to get our food, and it wasn't particularly busy. Noone warned us there would be such a long wait which made it frustrating. Won't be stopping in again.
L. M.
Laila have put so much attention to detail into their brunch restaurant. The decor is stunning with so many different photo opportunities and everything is perfectly colour coordinated, even my free water came with a gorgeous pink straw! I absolutely loved my red/pink waffles!
C. M.
Extremely slow service, booked a table was told we had to wait 5mins, they forgot about us and gave our table to walk ins. We then had 2 be sat at two tables rather than us all together. Waited over 20mins for our order to be taken, we were ignored by two staff members for over 10mins. Inside space is cramped and so hot. Food arrived quickly and was delicious. Very pretty cafe, with good food, sadly let down by staff.
B. H.
Exceeded expectations given the mixed reviews! Nice atmosphere, well decorated and very clean. Tasty drinks though small and pricey for what they are. Pancakes were delicious - perfectly cooked and a good portion size to fill you up and finish it without needing more. Service was fast and friendly although they were quick to offer the bill as soon as we finished eating which gave the impression they didn't really want us to hang around. Friend asked for water which never arrived – but that's easily forgiven. Worth a trip if you're not on a tight budget.
N. S.
Staff were extremely friendly 10/10. The place was clean and gorgeous 10/10. But the food was not that good. It was pretty but plain and the taste wasn’t that good. The cakes were not that tasty. They looked beautiful though. 5/10. Hoped it would have tasted better for the price. Would recommend to visit at least once.
H. I.
An absolute gem of a find that made the slight wait (yes, it was *that* popular!) tolerable. I had their signature Aleppo Eggs and Ruby Latte.
Would definitely come back and recommend to others.
M. C. A.
I had the most wonderful experience in Laila.
I was dining alone, but I was absolutely living!
The interior and exterior decor is just absolutely stunning. I was enjoying looking out the window and looking at all the decor.
The food menu is small but everything looked delicious.
I absolutely enjoyed my meal and was stuffed for the rest of the afternoon before my flight home.
The waitresses were extremely friendly. I absolutely enjoyed my time here!
Thank you Laila
S. H.
Sugary cafe with a implemented concept. The interior, menu and coffe were all instagram friendly and cute.
Not only was it good looking, it also tasted very well. The staff were friendly and professional.
A. K.
Amazing food, really friendly staff. I got the caramel latte and lamb pitta, Mrs had the buttermilk chicken pitta and a hot chocolate. Couldn't fault it!
F. R.
Beautiful food, decor and great service. Not only is this a quirky and fun little place to eat, but the menu is done well....not too many items, which is always a good sign and means good is fresh and made to order. Authentic, good quality food cooked well witha fun twist. The rose cheesecake is exceptional. I have no idea how they produce so much food to such a high standard in that tiny little kitchen! We will be back to sample more.
L.
I had a very good experience here. The restaurant is decorated beautifully! It's absolutely stunning inside and out . I had the unicorn latte and the pancakes with candy floss. I thought for sure this would be a sugar overload but I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't. Everything tasted and great and made for very cute photos.
M. T. K.
Most Instagramable place if you are searching for something new and unique. The taste may not be the greatest tho.
D. f.
We ordered Shakshouka 6/10, waffle 8/10, falafel 8/10, halloumi 9/10, tea 8/10 rose latte9/10 and black coffee 9/10. The service and atmosphere 10/10.
S. N.
This place is Outstanding. We had a booking for 9am and although early I got the waffle with added Buttermilk chicken and this was amazing, kept me going right through till 4pm. She got pancakes with bacon and a unicorn latte which she really enjoyed too. Great service and spoke to the owner who was lovely
J. B.
Lovely cosy decor..
Efficient service ..
A much sought destination for middle Eastern brunch and more
S.
Nice place in a popular street. The food was lovely, felt rather luxurious, and the staff friendly, the wait was perhaps a bit long but no wonder since the tables were all full. One thing we felt could be improved was that our table leaned/ tilted downhill a lot so we were a bit afraid the cups and plates would slide off of it. Perhaps something could be placed underneath the tables to steady them up.
S. L.
Beautiful instagrammable place. Coffe looked so cute but wasn’t that nice, it was quite sweet and considering that they have no dairy free alternatives I couldn’t really enjoy it as I am lactose intolerant, was curious to try it tho. Their waffles were pretty tasty, I totally recommend them! This place is Worth a visit if you’d like to pop a bit of colour in your Instagram page!
R. S.
Top marks for the creative menu and setting the scene. The lamb was lovely and the presentation great. Likely due to us having to eat out due to current covid restrictions, we walked a few minutes down to the gardens for lunch. The pancakes were soggy, probably needed the syrup in a separate container until ready to be eaten. Our hot latte drinks were not very hot. Disappointing consider the price for 3 meals 1 side and 2 hot drinks was £53.
A. R.
Very nice little cafe, and special food menu (middle eastern touch)
D. O.
Really pretty! Just popped in for a quick bite and drink. We're seated quickly. Order taken and food and drinks came fast. Exactly what we wanted! As we only had a snack I can't comment on the meal, but everyone else's looked great!
S. A.
3.5 stars!! We really loved the theme, the Middle Eastern aspects of the food, and the drinks were wonderful!! It’s so creative and we had a lovely brunch for my birthday. I would definitley go again! The reason it’s getting 3.5 stars is because the service was a bit slow and it was a bit spenny so just keep that in mind- otherwise I really recommend!
S. M.
We were seated quickly as a walk in. The waitress forgot to bring the requested tap water but did so once we asked again following the food, and was able to accommodate items on the side. The real-life interior finish and styling wasn't quite up to the expectation set by the photos online and accompanying high menu prices, but was a pleasant enough environment and good for those driven to generating tbose Instagram posts!
Over rated in my opinion
N. M.
Meals look unusual, it could be a good choice for instagram photos, however pancakes were a little bit dry.
C. M.
Absolutely lovely food and drink. I really enjoyed my Golden Latte 😋 Staff were really lovely and friendly, we will be back!!
b. d. r. p.
A little lunch and brunch restaurant in the centre of Edingburgh. Everything pink and such deliscious food and pies!!!! Staff so friendly and really interested in their custumers. Thxxx very much
B. K.
Absolutely delicious brunch! Very nice personal. Thank you so much for this experience!
L. R.
Nice surroundings and lovely staff. Lovely lady served our table, however, we were asked if we had any allergies or any of that malarkey. Great that everyone was asked, but if I had an issue with foods, especially anaphalatic allergies, I would have found that statement very upsetting, using the word malarkey. Maybe a review on the approach is needed there.
A. N.
Lovely food, service and atmosphere <3
H. A.
Lovely decor , good food. Question mark with the cocktails.
M. D.
Aleppo egg and halloumi pita were divine!
R.
Good location and great staff .
I ordered a Rose baked cheesecake it was nice for someone who loves rose water,
,the Coconut passion fruit was so delicious.
The Bannoffee praline was not as good as i expected .
A. S.
The food is very delicious, but I was treated racistly. I'm the only one who asked me to pay in advance while all the tables were paying after they finished. I was wearing a hijab
I hope I miss understand them .
M. V.
Nice atmosphere, but bread was a little bit more roasted.
V. V. G.
Nice break from lockdown. Great vegan options ... definitely recomend. We did not have a reservation but got a quick seat. But I think we were lucky. It was a busy time and the staff was attentive and kind.
Thank you.
S. J.
Delicious food served here. We had salmon and lamb with rice together with grilled veggies. Dessert and drinks also good. Nice ambience. The service is good. Best of all this outlet provided toilet within their property. After being in London and Scotland I could testify that this is indeed a 'luxury '. Great job guys 👍
L. B.
Great little find. Lovely food and setting with decent portion sizes. Staff were friendly and attentive.
R. C.
Place to eat mediterranean food, the quality is not the best but it’s enough and price-quality is good. Covid rules are in place, the place is simple, service is kindly and we didn’t wait too much to have lunch. They should change the fries because were not good.
H. L. G.
Amazing experience! Service, atmosphere & food were ALL top shelf! Fresh ingredients, quiet & calm atmosphere. I am.from the US and I have been telling everyone about it! I am also very picky about the total package of a restaurant experience so, my recommendation go if you want fresh & flavorful food!! Priced very fair too!
J. G.
Real fun place for brunch. Advise to book ahead. The white chocolate drink was delicious 😍
M. H.
Lovely themed cafe with exquisite food. Ordered the chicken pitta which was filling. Could place to come 👍
L. H.
Absolutely good food and different aswell i enjoyed my waffle and chi latti here the staff are friendly aswell and the place is beautiful.
H. S.
Food was good, but service was a little slow and the prices were quite high for what you got.
For example the trio of starter dips for 2 with bread was more about style over substance. Very shallow and small bowls in a wooden tray were used to present the hummus and other dips. This was complimented by 2 small pita breads in a stylised bowl, which reinforces my original comment.
The main was somewhat better in portion size, and the deserts were more exotic.
A nice location and environment, but would not say it represents value for money. Best to visit if you appetite is small and your wallet is big
k. w.
A somewhat awkward combination of delicious food (my smoked Salmon and cream cheese panini was delicious) and terrible, rude service. Our waiter was directky rude on more than one occasion, and gave off an air of anger when he paced around. If you dont care about that- i would vertainly recommend.
S. I.
The service is okay, waiters welcomed and guided what to order and explained everything since it was our first time. I ordered a grilled lamb pita, personally its not bad, but its not something that i would repeat again if i come to Edinburgh. As for drink, the caramel salted latte was too sweet for me! We also tried the halloumi fries, i didn’t really liked it, but my girlfriend enjoyed it. So i depends on the person i think. If you like cheese and chewy fries, then you may like it.
The only thing i like about the place is the decorations and Everything on the menu is halal!
P. A.
Very cute and pink!
A. R.
We turned up early for our booking and the staff took us 45 minutes early! The staff were amazing and welcoming. I had the ruby waffle and it was incredible, the fruit was fresh and the presentation of the food and drinks were just impeccable. 100% recommend this place to anyone who wants a brunch in Edinburgh!!
Z. K.
Service 11/10 and Food 10/10.
Everything we ordered was ridiculously good, Aleppo eggs were my personal favorite esp. on a rainy day. They do gluten free substitutes for pita as well when asked as I don't think it says so on the menu.
- To reiterate the customer service made everything all the more special; it was my last bite in Edinburgh before a 6 hour drive back home and Laila's made an already great trip greater ⭐
L. f.
Nice home please. Great menu! The staff friendly and helpful. Amazing place to eat.
K. G.
Amazing place and an amazing service. Food was delicious!! Fully recommend!
H. O.
Good meditarian food, visited many times, one of my best restaurant in Edinburgh, very friendly staff, they provide halal food ,food taste for me is on different level highly recommended.
A. A.
Great chef and workers. I ordered an old dish that’s not there anymore and they made similar one as I requested(it’s not the one in the pic). Highly recommended.
s. i.
Amazing food, not just a nice looking venue which was what I was kind of expecting. The food is jam packed with flavour and you can taste the freshness. Go back to it every time there's space for a reservation and have never been disappointed. Staff are attentive and relaxed too which is nice, just wish there was even more space so I could get a booking a bit easier
A. D.
Stoped in for a quick lunch, good size portions. Best lentil soup I’ve had in a while. Great place.
E.
We discovered this place by accident but we’re glad we did. The food was good and the Italian girl serving us was very nice. Glad we had a table by the window.
I. J.
We went there because its looked really beautiful with the flowers everywhere
Coffee is expensive but it's does taste good, haven't eaten food so can't comment on that
P. T.
Great atmosphere, menus ? kids loved 🙂
S. S.
Went there for brunch and was greeted promptly by the waiter and seated. Food was presented very nicely, arrived hot and in a reasonable time. Portion sizes were good and overall the experience was lovely. I would recommend the avocado chips!
L. A.
The cutest place from decor to your food, such a hidden gem! The only vomplaint I have is I feel staff forget about you once seated due to them trying to accommodate both outside, inside and also anyone who wants seated. We waited around 25mins before our order was taken and had a tricky time trying to flag staff down for the bill. Overall however, food was amazing just wish it didn't take so long to get to us!
k.
The bad reviews made me anxious about my visit and while some of their critiques are fair the manager is really caring and dedicated and clearly loves what he does. It's a really nice little spot and the food was clearly freshly made to order. It was such a nice place to visit, if the bad reviews make you anxious too, dont worry, I think it's a really lovely place, you won't regret visiting.
C. C.
Visited twice. Once for cocktails and once for food. The cocktails and food were very good. The service wasn't great. Takes ages to get served and you have to keep catching waitress attention for the menu, then to order, then to get extra bits like sugar. The coffee wasn't much to rave about. Overall very nice setting and food but waitress training and organisation not great. Would still recommend a visit as long as you're not in a rush and you've got some time to relax. Also the toilet didn't have any soap or hand towels which isn't ideal during COVID.
O. L.
Good decor and ambiance, but food is average.
B. W.
Nothing to complain about at all, great brunch food.
A. D.
Great food and drink, middle Eastern style. Service was a little slow but were a staff member down. Very tasty in a nice central location- we had Ruby Waffle and the Shakshouka - both lovely. Nice for taking pics for Instagram too!
S.
Great food overall and brilliant service. Salad was a bit sad but perfect lovely little place and worth a visit for sure. Added bonus. This place was in the avengers infinity war.
R. K.
Nice location and service. The food also tastes delicious, although the soup is a little too salty for me: )
A. A.
Amazing atmosphere, delicious food , recommend the rose pancakes
N.
The food was delicious and our server Mo was very helpful and very friendly!
T. R.
Highly recommended a visit ...a beautiful little.place near train station food suplime and staff lovely
A.
Refreshingly interesting menu. Great service. Nice location and ambience.
L.
Fantastic experience, ordered 4 meals and all enjoyed. Well priced. Good stuff.
K. C.
Lovely place with a unique menu, definitely recommend
H. A.
Food and drinks look like they came from a Disney movie! Loved it!
E. T.
It's definitely worth to try their kids menu which includes main course, dessert and drink but costs not more than 10 pounds. Nice atmosphere and people.
O. C.
Yummy halal food. Is a must if you enjoy Mediterranean food. Plus it was in the Avengers infinity war.
B. T.
Cute, delicious, and nice wait staff 💖
S. K.
Absolutely loved this place! In our short stay in Edinburgh we came here 3 times because the food was just amazing and the service Fran provided was just impeccable. I think undoubtably we would recommend Laila’s chicken and if it’s a nice day then take advantage of the outside seating area. Laila’s does get pretty busy so do try and book in advance.
S. J.
I hardly give anybody 5 stars, but they totally deserve it. The location is awesome. One of the best food i have consumed in my life. We ordered grilled chicken pomegranate rice, lamb chops with rice, and the pasta of the day. We also had hummus with toasted bread on the side. All the food was exquisite and perfectly cooked. The ladies who served us were phenomenal in their tasks. I couldn’t hold myself back, so i barged in to meet the chef. A hidden gem in Edinburgh where I’ll definitely visit again in the future.
J.
Food was good, and overall experience was really nice.
H. I.
Good food. Great pride taken into small details. Great service. Nice decor. Overall highly recommended.
K. T.
Cosy little cafe, friendly service and good prices. Was quite fast and food was lovely!
S. M. K.
Nice restaurant, bit pricey but a cosy atmosphere
S. C.
Very disorganised. I asked for an extra hot latte. It came but with no sugar. I asked for sugar. No sugar came. I went to get my own sugar. By the time I put some sugar into the coffee, it was lukewarm. I asked for another extra hot latte to replace it. I got a lukewarm latte.
Wasn't best pleased.
I. G.
This place had great Google reviews so dropped in for dinner on a weekday. Staff were really accommodating food was pretty average. I'd say it's a good spot for a drink and light snacks but wouldn't recommend it for a meal
k. r.
Really nice food and at a great price. Friendly staff and great service. The waitress informed me that the beef was not halal even though I didn't ask. I appreciated this a lot
C. W.
Lovely brunch location in a beautiful part of the city. Food was tasty! Service a little slow but it was a busy time!
A. E.
Hearty portions of delicious food. The main dishes are a bit lacking in vegetables though, pretty much just a meat + carb situation. Service was a bit slow aswell. But over all a good experience and we would go back again.
g. غ.
Food was nice and big portions🙏
p. r.
lovely food. enjoyed it thoroughly. Vegan and gluten free options are available here. Located at the heart of Edinburgh city, we could see people walking by. the sunlight streamed through the glasses going us warmth in the winter season and the hostess and servers were really friendly. they brought us alternate menus.
D. 8.
Love the creative coffee choices 😊 very cute place 😊
J. F.
Food was delicious, would definitely recommend the blue unicorn latte and the satay french toast. Nice decor and good atmosphere.
R. B.
Very impressed. The staff was friendly and the food was really good. Stuffed vine leaves, lamb casserole and grilled salmon were all great. Atmosphere is cheerful/crowded. They do take advanced bookings. Looking forward to our next visit.
S. B. J.
I liked the new cake (honestly I don't remember what's called, but it was delicious). The coffee was good, but too expensive compared to the cup size
F. a. F.
This is one of my favourite locations in Edinburgh. The menu offers a variety of plates to share ranging from Mediterranean specialties to Scottish favourites. You will find something to satisfy even the pickiest eaters here. The food is always fresh and tasty and is more affordable thanks to being bring your own wine. I recommend this place to anyone visiting Edinburgh. This restaurant is very vegetarian friendly as well as LGBT friendly.
C. M.
Cutest place near the royal mile. The drinks are colorful and really good. If you like sugary drinks or are looking for the most Instagram worthy cafe, then you have to visit Laila's.
J. R.
Great presentation! Really enjoyed our brunch here, the waffles and pancake (with bacon) were great 👍
M. N.
Absolutely superb, recommend you give it a go 👍👍👍
s. s.
6 of us arrived having been turned away from a spot further down the street , they immediately made us welcome , pushing tables together in an alcove to give us plenty space. Choices were excellent, mezze plates , salads , wraps and paninis. Our vegan diner had choices too which is always good. Cocktails were fun and the wine I'm told was delicious too. Service was quick and friendly, 6 mains , couple of desserts ,wine and cocktails were £95. A really excellent find 👍
L. B.
Interesting and tasty food and beverages. The owner and staff were accommodating, friendly and genuinely seemed to care about the customers.
E. M.
Great food, lovely place
G. M.
Had an eclectic mix for breakfast but sat in the morning sunshine outside was a nice reflective summer memory. Food very good , service likewise
A. C. A.
Popped in here whilst on a visit to Edinburgh. We were passing and decided to take a chance at lunch time. So glad we did. Food was lovely, I especially liked the chicken and pomegranate rice. Lots of flavour and the price was really good too.
Even if it's empty don't be put off, you won't be disappointed!
K. W.
The food is good but nothing special. Definitely the place to go if you want that amazing Instagram pic
J. M.
Looked very inviting from outside and I was very glad I ventured inside. Meatballs were delicious and it was a great experience to try Lebanese wine for the 1st time. On top of all that it was used in the filming of Avengers: Infinity War. What more could you want?!!
S. S.
Had lunch here in June 2021. Portions are huge and really delicious food. Service is good too.
A. H.
Loved every minute of this quick meal. BYOB with no corkage fee (we ran to the Mama Said to grab wine)! The food was delicious, large portions, reasonably priced, & one of the fastest European meals I've had. All in all, it was great!
R. L.
We had lamb pitta bread with chips (skinny and sweet potato), the lamb was tasty but small and overpriced the sweet potato chips were excellent.
L. B.
From the outside we thought it was a little cafe and we're just about to give it a miss when someone came out and said it was very nice. We went in and very happy we did. Food was excellent and very tasty. Staff were very friendly and went out of their way for us.
We highly recommend it and will go back again.
A. I.
Overpriced tiny portions..tasty
A. G.
I had the best chicken shawarma I've ever tasted in my life here. Wasn't expecting to find this gem in Edinburgh! The staff were very friendly as well! I also felt the prices were reasonable compared to other restaurants of similar quality in the city.
D. S.
A lovely place but extremely busy, because of that I think the service suffered. Waited for a while and drinks were luke warm when they did arrive.
J. B.
Amazing food, very tasty and lovely service, the only downside was the menu was a little limited/repetitive. But good simple food, done well!
M. C.
Lovely to sit in the sun on their small terrace. I drank their unusual cereal latte.. was interesting to say the least.
A. O. (.
Nice place to grab a bite to eat, not that far from the train station. However, there is a bit of climbing to do, up a steep slope, which might not be to everybody's liking. The food is good and fresh, although a bit pricey. Try the special of the day, you might be pleasantly surprised.
W. J.
Beautiful place. Food was delicious ans the surroundings of the place are so pretty a lovely place to sit and eat 😊
A. M.
Good food. I recommend the salmon with mix fried vegetables and white rice.
R. B.
Excellent wee place. Interesting menu. Busy but lovely staff. Good for veggies. Turkish and interesting.
Z. H.
Incredible food, their shakshouk tastes authentic and the location is brilliant. Highly recommend
H. A.
Food was amazingly presented and the service was very good. Only thing I would say was the waffles were a tad dry.
s. h.
Great menu with lots of variety. Nice seating area overlooking Cockburn st and the wonderful architecture in Edinburgh. Friendly service and great value for money
m. l.
I really liked this place - I have passed it a few times and thought how warm and cosy it looked from the outside!! It has a lovely relaxed atmosphere and the staff were really nice. The food was gorgeous too, spicy and tasty! We had starters of warm bread and dips followed by a light bite and that was well enough food (and came to £14 each) they don't serve alcohol but happy for you to take it in. Will definitely be going again.
M. S.
Lentil soup was super, comes with a gorgeus bread, delicious!
Bit pricey for the size of the dishes.
Falafels dry, bit overburn outside, quite dissapointed.
We loved the main dishes tho. But not so good portion size for a main dish.
Place was cosy, delightful ambient.
M. H.
Nice food, a bit too expensive though... staff were ok but seemed very busy so at times weren't as attentive as they maybe should have been. Government guidelines followedish but could be better.

Great food, beautiful presentation of the dishes with different options of Mediterranean Gartronomy (The Salmon Fillet or the Ratatouille are delicious) . Lovely Staff. Friendly atmosphere right in the Heart of Edinburgh, just next to Royal Mile.
A. A.
Small intimate place serving Mediterranean (Arabic) food. Went for the chicken breast on pomegranate rice - pleased I did so, portion was just right. Cardomem tea to wash it all down, and a walnut cake as a guilty pleasure... Would recommend.
A. M.
Loved this little place! Had a lovely meal here on New Year’s Eve, the service was great (if a little slow at times) and food was delicious. Loved the atmosphere inside as well!
R. O.
Lovely, tasty food - the Baba ganoush was beautifully smooth. Mezze portions maybe on the small side - more flatbread would have been good - but the mains were truly excellent. The Lebanese lamb sausage casserole was fantastic. Great table service.
M. R.
Lovely deco and great service
A. M.
Food was good and the place was clean would be 5 stars but some of the food came really late into the meal and they forgot to give us our chips whilst almost charging us as well.
G. E.
Stumbled across this little bistro as we were wandering around the city, really glad we did! Food was great and the service and atmosphere was friendly and relaxed.. Ciara even gave us some free dessert for my birthday.. bonus, 5 stars!
C.
The Food was very delicious but high priced. I ordered Chicken with grilled vegetabels and chips. The price for this was 15,50 pounds. But when I got the bill, I noticed that I had to pay another pound for Charity. For what charity? I do'nt Know. Besides it was so damned cold there and noisy from any Machine or something. I couldnt find out what it was. I would'nt go there a second Time.
D. M.
Fantastic place for Lebanese lunch. Booth tables are great for social dining. Not that much options available on menu. BYOB so remember to take along alcohol if you want to have a drink. Service is great and food is delicious
G. B.
Great place, delicious food with really generous portion sizes. The staff were really friendly and was great to see it was a BYOB restaurant. Lots of different options on the menu with some lovely combinations so something here for everyone.
l. m.
I really like this place, small & cozy also with outdoor seating. The waitresses are so sweet & willing to help. The fish & chips were yummy & I love the apple tea.
D. B.
Popped in here today for a spot of lunch with my partner and 2 teenage sons. What can I say? Food was mouth watering and service was excellent. Would definitely recommend 😀
b.
Stumbled upon this mediterran gourmet pearl by incidence, the Skewers and Ratatouille were absolutely fantastic. Family business, relaxed atmosphere, great service - I can only recommend this place to all of you.

A. F.
Had lunch here towards the end of the festival and it was very busy. We waited to get in although not too long. Food was good and staff pleasant enough. We have used the sister restaurants and they were good too.
M.
Really good food! And beautiful location!
S. A.
Food quality has degraded over time. It was fabulous until a few years back, now it's just ok.
T. W.
Busy, smart cafe just of the Royal Mile, nice selection of food definitely worth a visit
A. R.
This was a gem of a find for a place for lunch yesterday. Staff are very friendly and the food is delicious. Great portion sizes making it good value.
W. H.
Nice place to rest and have a snack
n. m.
Feels decadent and magical. Have the golden latte!!
J. P.
Very good fresh products, nicely presented. Well done, thanks ☺
C. C.
The staff were really friendly and efficient. Food was fantastic - excellent burgers. Price is excellent especially considering the central location. BYOB really helps! NB: there is an offlicence directly across the street.
r. a.
Very cute place but not much in the way of vegan food or salad.
C. J. (. J.
Good food but a tad overpriced, would've liked more vegetables with the main too, as the salad only consisted of a slice of cucumber and some olives. The lebanese lamb sausage was delicious!
J. H.
Great place and great food!
j. C.
Came here on the off chance with my hubby and his mother last Wednesday, never been before. Great service, lovely food, ambience, staff could not have been more helpful and friendly and was pleasantly surprised by the good portions of meat, fish etc on sandwiches....not at all stingy.
M. S.
Good food ... served the best falafel i had tasted. Reasonably good value. The only small thing i didn't like was being served a can of guiness in a pint glass that didnt fill and charged nearly £6 for it. Anyway, it's in a great central location and was open qhem many other places were closed.
S. G.
Big size and good food
F. M.
Great food
A. M.
Loved this little place! Had a lovely meal here on New Year’s Eve, the service was great (if a little slow at times) and food was delicious. Loved the atmosphere inside as well!

Popped in here whilst on a visit to Edinburgh. We were passing and decided to take a chance at lunch time. So glad we did. Food was lovely, I especially liked the chicken and pomegranate rice. Lots of flavour and the price was really good …
A. E.
Hearty portions of delicious food. The main dishes are a bit lacking in vegetables though, pretty much just a meat + carb situation. Service was a bit slow aswell. But over all a good experience and we would go back again.
F. M.
Lovely cake and a great cup of coffee. First visit - will definitely be back
M. W.
This place had been on my list since I first noticed it and following a visit to Pomegranate (same owners) I opted to pay it a visit on Sunday evening. I went for falafel and hummus, batata harra, a side of bread, mango juice and finished with an Arabic coffee. I sat outside in the sun and never once stepped foot inside. The waitresses were very attentive and also made sure everything was good. The food was superb. The texture and flavouring of the falafel was a highlight. £15 odd all in. Not bad at all. Luckily this is both near work and home so I shall definitely return. Next time I might even step inside.
J. A.
Had Ruby Pancake with add'on buttermilk chicken.... it was sumptuous and luscious!! go and grab them!! worth the price!
N. C.
I always try to visit Laila's when I'm in Edinburgh. The food is ridiculously good and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend washing it all down with an Arabic coffee.
U.
Good food. My father and I especially love their grilled prawn with rice dish that we came 3 times during my 10 days stay in Edinburgh 😁
R. P.
Good simple Mediterranean food. Solid meal. The bar menu can be challenging. My second time here and it's been enjoyable both times.
J. C. D.
It was my first time to try ratatouile here. I really loved it, even though I usually don't like tomatoes. I even tried to cook ratatouile when I got home, but it tastes so different. Can you tell me what's in your ratatouile? 😂
O. W.
Good food. Pricing is a bit high. Staff should be more attentive.
p. b.
Really good food and lovely service
L. M.
Nice enough food. However service was rather slow. The ladies toilet was dreadful with second rate wc and a handdryer that did not work. Very disappointing experience.
M. P.
This place has great food and extremely friendly staff. It also sits in one of the best locations in the Old Town. Perfect place to stop for lunch if you're exploring this side of Edinburgh.
F. P. O.
Grilled lamb chops are to die for, along with okra aubergine stew... perrfect with red wine 🍷 BYOB is a PLUS... TRY IT TRY IT... WORTH PAYING... SERVICE IS GOOD... SERVERS KNOWLEDGEABLE... OVER ALL 5 STARS...

Great service from the soon-to-be EU/Britexed Spanish waitresses and the food is too good to describe.
No booking days in advance to get in and... did I mention the BYOB?
