First time eating here. Absolutely amazing. The mixed grill was great and everything was cooked to perfection. The cheesecake is one of the tastiest things I've ever eaten in my life. No exaggeration. Would highly recommend this place.

Very smart well laid out restaurant. I love steaks and burgers. If I had to eat steak every meal for the rest of my life I would not be devastated. Whilst I began to think the wait for the food was slightly long I understood why when it arrived. The nicest steak I've ever had. I'm 37 and I love steaks to put that in perspective. Outside on the window it says 'owned by butchers' and boy does this show. My chargrilled rump tasted unlike anything I've had before.... The chargrilled taste was superb. This was along with extremely nice on-the-vine tomatoes and curly fries. I savoured my steak from start to finish and have never wanted to pass on my appreciation to the chef because of their steak before. (unless the chef is the Mrs and you pretty much have to) A real steakhouse done well with emphasis on great cuts of meat brilliantly cooked.

Walking in you would be forgiven for thinking you've walked back in time to a 90's Italian restaurant, but don't let the dated decor fool you. The staff were funny and helpful, very informative of the menu choices. The portion was very generous, the starter was like a main by itself. I had the mixed grill, the steak was soft and flavoursome, the lamb fell off the bone and cooked to perfection. Highly recommended.

Visiting from the USA and wanted a good steak dinner. Small and quaint place with friendly staff. I ordered a glass of Malbec and the filet (rare) with Diane sauce. The steak was prepared perfect on the grill, the sauce was very good, and the baked potato nice and soft with a crispy skin. I'm very impressed.

The steals here were amazing, you must try the haggis tower as a starter. It was our introduction to haggis and we loved it. My husband's steak was slightly overdone but mine was perfect. We would recommend a visit as the overall experience was lovely.

The staff is very friendly and the steak, omg, it's cooked to perfection, the cut is so fresh and juicey, the bourbon sauce is going to go to waste because the streak is so good, I can have it on its own. Lovely portion size. The ribeye steak was cooked perfect, it was moist and juicy. It didn't however have much flavour hence only giving it 4/5. Although everything else was spot on if I could give it a 4.5 then that's what I'd say. Giving the option of how I wanted it cooked, either pan fried or on the grill charcoals . I chose grilled. Good selections of sides sauces and extras, I got a half rack of bbq ribs. Dine between 5.30 6.30 and get 20% off the total bill 👌 I'd definitely go back and recommend this restaurant.

Look my hotel said everything was closed, This is Scotlan not Spain on a Saturday night, so at 9 your thinking I am doing kebob and calling it a night. So when you see a place your setting your expectations a bit low. But this place is a solid hitter. Steak in this place is a total treat, and the staff clearly know a thing or two about it! Drink options are rather limited, they couldn't offer the full drinks menu at the time (as restaurants were only newly starting to reopen after lockdown) but even the full menu didn't have all that much on it. Let's face it, no-one comes to Scotland to drink Jack Daniels whisky. Would have liked to see some greater variety (and personally, I like red wine with my steak but I appreciate that's a me thing ;) )

Good steakhouse - could be great. The window claims the restaurant is owned by an award winning butchers so we dived straight into the steaks. Sirloin was tasty and well cooked. Onion rings were nice - not the soggy oversized ones you sometimes get at similar restaurants. Steak fries were freshly made and better than many - but double frying them would have made them superb. We had a very decent bottle of red. Whilst I enjoyed the meal it just felt there was something missing and if that were there this would be a great steakhouse. Just a bit of finesse in the presentation and finish of a couple of things, lifting the atmosphere which was a bit flat when we were in. Definitely going again though.

I so want to give 5 stars, but 3 fillets of chicken were each too dry and chewy at the edges, even with the sauce. I didn't mention it as I was meeting 1 of my companions for the 1st time, and I don't like to complain about food when I know a great effort is put in. The staff are absolutely great, all aspects of service excellent. Eg Despite serving many other customers 1 of them remarked that she'd seen me come in with a walking stick, when I didn't have it out the case on the way out. I was so grateful for this reminder and personal attention.

One of the other steak strip dishes tasted of beef and not steak. one starter was simply a plate of sausages, we foolishly thought there would be more to this but nope. Best steak in Edinburgh. Arrived before the dinner rush. Everything was very good. Had a local soup for a starter, which was delicious, very hearty. Salad was very fresh and a good serving, but not too much. Had a rib eye that was done to perfection. A side of mushrooms and it was steak heaven. No need for sauce here. Make reservations or get there early, a very busy spot.

Popped in last night for an impromptu visit, the lady who found us seats on a busy Friday night was fantastic. The four of us had the ribeye steaks and sides, the food was out of this world, I’ve been recommending the place for years on the back of picking up customers in my cab, but now it will certainly be a personal recommendation after my first visit.

If you're after a hearty steak then this is the place to visit. McKirdys is apparently a local butcher and it shows with excellent cuts of meat. I had a T-Bone that would have been easily 500 grams and cooked to perfection. As was my partners Rib-Eye that was closer to 300 grams (9oz). All the normal sides were available, curly fries were particularly good, and a variety of sauces. The price was cheap compared to other steak houses in town and although the place doesn't have someone playing Sinatra on a piano the quality of the food makes up for the lack of atmosphere. Wine list was decent. Basically if you want an outstanding steak in a no-fuss restaurant then this is the place in town.

The best steak iv had in a resturant perfectly cooked medium the sides are also very good and if you like sauce with your steak you will enjoy there sauces are very good all round good for the money we went on a recomendation from our taxi driver just asked him a good steak resturant and he took us there it was a friday night and they had no tables but the waiter sent us to the pub opposit and came and got us when our table was ready about half an hour later so even the service was good cant fault anything about this place next time we are in Edinburgh will defo visit this place GREAT FOOD AND GREAT SERVICE
