Reviews of MUMS Great Comfort Food

Scottish food at its best! Had an interesting and eye-opening mushroom Wellington with tasty layered pastry, as well as Haggis and Date Pudding! Main courses cost around 10-13 pounds. Only downside was the difficulty of getting a table (I encourage to make a reservation) and the slightly slow service. The sous/dessert chef was a very friendly chap!

This is the biggest meal I have ever eaten in the UK. The meringue is very soft and the soup inside is very tasty. At the same time, the owner is a very enthusiastic young man. He will tell us some stories about Edinburgh and buy one pancake. The bananas on the pancake are delicious, too.

First thing, nicest people ever here. Had a lovely conversation with our waiter. So cordial.
The food was solid if not spectacular. I had the steak and ale pie. Puff pastry top, so not a full pie. Beef was very tender. Not enough salt, and couldn’t really taste the potatoes and mushrooms.
We also had the sticky toffee pudding. Again, solid but not great. More of a cake feel, which is a legitimate school of sticky toffee, but not my preferred style.

The owner was very friendly and made us feel welcome. As you can see from the photos the portions are big but they were also very tasty and good value for money. I would highly recommend Mums Great Comfort food if you're looking for good food with no frills. Sara

The most heart and stomach warming Steak & Ale stew. The caramelised leeks and bacon mash was superb. The Shepherds Pie was incredible. I really don’t think you can go wrong here. We are planning to come back for breakfast!
Update: went back for breakfast! Didn’t disappoint. The Mums Classic was amazing and the pancake stack with bacon was unbelievable! The staff is so nice!

Where to start with Mum's Great Comfort Food! I came with my dear friends for a celebratory lunch after my exams.
The sausage casserole was proper nice, and a proper bargain as well! The best casserole Ive had in a while (might rival my actual mum's 😉) and was served with a side of smiles all round.
With a quaint atmosphere and lovely music playlist, Mum's Great Comfort Food is bound to delight anyone from anywhere on God's green earth.
Bravo!

Extraordinary place. Undoubtfully the best Haggis in town.
The main courses are deliciuos and the dessert as well.
Also, the service from the staff is exceptional.
The place accept all credit cards, too. Best value for your money

Nice place for good food and a interesting location. We enjoyed our stay and took the fish pie and the stew. The service was nice and not intrusive. Worth a visit & meal.

Exceptional food accompanied by equally good drinks and both served by an enthusiastic and down-to-earth man. Nico couldn't have been more helpful or generous with his time. MUMS is a must when visiting Edinburgh.

The food was delicious! I literally couldn't contain myself for taking the photo. I rushed in finishing up the Haggies, the Shepherds pie, the Steak and Ale and the buttermilk chicken burger, finishing with a delicious apple rasberry oatmeal crusted dessert topped with custard 🍮. The food and the ambient was casual and enjoying/relaxing. Overall I highly recommend visiting the place 😉 make sure to eat plenty of Mum's Great comfort food before departure 🛫
