Reviews of Passorn Thai

Prim was our waitress, she was lovely, very friendly and polite. Our food and drinks were delicious. We will be back, such a little gem off the beaten track.

Once again the food was spicy, tasty, interesting and absolutely delicious. My little beef salad was so tasty. And then there is the Black Tower dessert, I'm lost for words here...sweet, salty, hot, cold, fruity, tropical and just delicious! Yum! This place is a must for spice lovers.

One of the best Thai meals I have had. The Seabass Salad was to die for as was the rest of our meal. Will recommend to friends and family to visit when visiting Edinburgh.

We had a party of 7 as a surprise birthday party at Passorn and really liked the place. The food was extremely well prepared and full of flavour. The staff really attentive and helpful. My wife who celebrated her birthday also really enjoined the place.
The only slight gripe I had was that I had arranged for the surprise party that we'd be guided to the table with our friends already waiting there. I had confirmed with the owner minutes before arriving with my wife that one person on the reservation was not sure if they'd arrive on time or would still have to cancel. Yet the moment I walked back into the restaurant the owner who I had just told minutes earlier about the total people attending stopped me and my wife asking to confirm if the reservation was for 7 8 or 9 and this spoiled the final surprise as my wife assumed it was just the two of us up to that point.

Passorn is the best Thai resturant in Edinburgh forever...
Food are all perfect & so delicious...i feel less homesick, like it bring me back to Thailand..
ANGLE CURRY(PIC3)-Steak in red curry, SEABASS CHOO CHEE
CHICKEN KAPROW,
they are super duper tasty..we order all in level3,which is really nice for Thai.
Recommended! to serve with some not hot..
Fries vegetable-BUSARACUM and prawn kratium.
The price was reasonable..with their superior quality of ingredients..and services.
Cocktail..were also perfect...we had two glass of Passorn green and pink passion..😙

Arguably one of the best Thai restaurants in Edinburgh. Food tastes incredible. The beef salad’s refreshing with a slight spice kick whilst the Massaman curry is rich, creamy and sweet. Service is excellent. The food I ordered came from the set Lunch. A bargain considering how good the food taste. Highly recommended!
M. A.
Good food but their number 3 heat wise (which I thought would be medium) was very hot and I can take my heat. Will order mild 1 next time just to be on the safe side as might get medium then ;)
J. C.
Best Thai I have ever had! Service was outstanding. We were treated like royalty. The food was absolutely delicious. We tried a few of their specialty dishes and they were incredible. We will be back very soon!
L. T.
Great service in this up-market feeling restaurant. The food was very good; definitely recommend the Massaman curry.
P. J.
We took a client for dinner here and they were very impressed by the ambience and food quality. All the dishes were sumptuous.
J. K.
King prawn dish was delicious. Sticky rice rice as served in a plastic bag which wasn't expected. Decided to finish off the meal with a white coffee. Mistake as it wasn't great and spoiled the taste I had after the meal. I'll stick to green tea the next time!
I.
The food tastes amazing! Originally just wanted to try the food here but it turned out to be so good. Also great environment and friendly staff
A. E.
I came to this restaurant not sure what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised. The service was incredible and all of the waiting staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was also amazing, very spicy which I love! This is the best Thai I have ever had, easy 5 star rating from me and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for some great Thai food!

Just had 3 days in Edinburgh and came across this Little Gem of a place. Simply Amazing Food and Wonderful People!!! Thank you for a lovely evening and beautiful food.
K. S.
The waitresses are very friendly and efficient to serve the most beautifully presented, authentic Thai food in all of Edinburgh. The delicious, unique smells of the food are enough to put me in a good mood and the chefs never fail to deliver on quality/creativity. This is why I highly recommend Passorn Thai restaurant if you are in Edinburgh for the best (angelic!) dining experience.

Lovely, homely, intimate Thai restaurant serving tasty dishes from an uncomplicated menu. Good table service combined with the excellent cuisine provided our table with a great evening out. Will definitely return.
g. e.
Totally amazing Thai restaurant, small compact but the food and service were second to none. Our waitress always wore a genuine smile, she spoke with honesty and sincerity and was really polite. Go there again? In a heartbeat 😃

Why has it taken me so long to discover this Thai in Edinburgh. Every starter and every main was just incredible. Cindy has a real gem here in Edinburgh. Thank you for filling my belly with such delicious Thai food. Gary
J. E.
Most dishes were tasty but some portions were skimpy.
I. S.
Lovely atmosphere, very attentive staff and delicious, authentic Thai food.

We had an absolutely wonderful evening at Passorn. The food was so fresh and spiced superbly. The service was attentive and charming. Outstanding all 'round!
R. C.
Superb tasting food, good service. The restaurant was very quiet - Covid times, 9pm Thursday evening - with one other table in use, who left shortly after we arrived. We'd driven 380 miles, so were tired and hungry.
They were quick in serving the food and helpful with suggestions and advice. Take their warnings about spice seriously! Their 1-5 scale of spiciness is genuine. I like spicy food, and a rating of 3 was enough for me.
One minor criticism: they close the kitchen at 9:45, and they didn't tell us. We wanted a little bit of dessert after our main meal but, because we finished at 9:50, they couldn't serve us any. If they'd warned us, we might have ordered the dessert in time.
T. M.
5*, nothing else to say 😀. (I had a 4/5 chili heat dish 😡 hottest food I've had for years but still great flavours)
I. R.
Food, service and cleanliness is outstanding. This is the best Thai food we have eaten. If we lived closer we would visit all the time. Outstanding!
L. H.
Really nice Thai. I prefer their "standards" (tom yum, green curry, pad thai etc) over their specials, which I find a bit sweet and rich. Overall very nice food though.
A. B.
The food is always amazing. They give you a choice 1-5 of how spicy you would like your meal which I really like. 5 is spicy, just the way I like it 🔥 Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because for me it's a little pricey so not somewhere I would go very often.
R. S.
Fresh local ingredients with authentic imported spices and attentive service .
B. L.
Look at the owner's replies to the negative comments; I can imagine what "amazing" service they promised to provide. The negative comments may not be trustworthy, but their relies do. Although it is quite close to my new place, I don't think I will go there with my friends.
V. M.
Oh my goodness. The food was just beautiful! Everything we had was exquisite. The waitress was a bit snippy and the prices are quite high but to be honest the food was so good I didn't care! Will be back :)
P. W.
Very very tasty! The last few times we ordered the banquet for 2 takeout and very highly recommend. The green curry, steak and king prawns are delicious
A. A.
Top food, great service, good atmosphere. Called in with no booking about 7 midweek, I think we were lucky to get a table for 2. Highlight of the menu was the tenderloin beef salad starter with a really excellent mix of flavours - lemongrass, red onion, coriander, lime leaves, chilli, mint, tamarind.
I. W.
The food was delicious the staff attentive, we had a really good experience. The only issue was the small portion of monkfish in the asparagus and perfumed mushroom and monkfish main!! ...a bit disappointing...otherwise lovely xxx
P. A.
Staff was very friendly and helpful with the menu. We really enjoyed the spicy beef salad to start. Hot green curry was very nice as a main course. The atmosphere was pleasant. We recommend it!
S. F.
Really great food, attentive and friendly staff.
Absolutely a 5* experience, the angel curry is particularly good.
S. B.
Good Thai food in a comfortable setting, We, a table of seven persons, chose the banquet. Can't remember names of dishes.. but there were beef, chicken, prawn and monkfish dishes, some with curry sauce. Quite delicious really and the taste was quite Thai authentic, but toned down for the local palate. Service was prompt and friendly. Although a tad expensive, would recommend Passorn.
M. W.
I eat here regularly, it's a nice size restuarant and the staff are friendly. If your dining in or takeaway the food is amazing. K think the quality of the food is high and it keeps me going back.
D. W.
We had a most enjoyable experience at Passorn. The food was good, as was the service. Not sure if the pricing fits the product which might explain why we never returned again or sought it out on our trips back to Edinburgh. Other restaurants beckoned our return, this one never seems to.....
D. W.
We walked in without a booking on a Tuesday, and were warmly welcomed by the staff.
Our starters were promptly delivered, the Scallops are amaaazing.
Our mains were all excellent, with perfect heat levels. Red curry, green curry and stir fry all great.
Staff were attentive and very helpful, made it a 5 star experience.
G. R.
Was a lovely meal but found both dishes very rich and sickly.
Starter of Mr and mrs was deelish but would be better if you got 3 od each not 2. Maybe im just greedy
S. C.
Excellent food, amazing quality food, one of the best steak curries I've ever had. The customisation of the spice makes the dishes feel so much more personalised. Loved it!
m.
Meals were delicious but pricey.
E. T.
What a great place. The food was out of this world, authentic and tasty Thai dishes. The restaurant itself looked more more upmarket than I had expected when booking and the staff were just lovely. We had the pre-theatre menu which was great value, but I wouldn't say the main menu was overpriced considering the quality of the food. Try it!
A. W.
Excellent food but don't expect lots of menu options like most Thai restaurants. Reasonable prices, good portions. Very popular so worth booking a table, especially on the weekend.
P. M.
Had one of my best meals ever here only problem is it’s a bit out of the city area
G. M.
Passorn might just be my favourite restaurant in Edinburgh. The food is stunning - flavoursome Thair food with a contemporary twist, all made to order and you can even tell the chef how spicy (or not!) you would like it. We've become regulars here over the last few years and have always enjoyed our meals. Staff are lovely too.
P. L.
Amazing as usual. Food fantastic. Social distancing excellent. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Well worth a visit. Will defo be back.
R. S.
Been here several times over several years and really like it. Food is authentic Thai, fresh flavours cooked individually for your order. Recommended.
L. D.
Really fantastic Thai food with a modern twist here. Would highly recommend the spiced seabass (Pla Ka Pong Prig Plow) which can only be described as a symphony of flavour! Would give 5 stars but the only detractor when we went was we felt a bit rushed. Still amazing food, great service and one of the best Thais in Edinburgh.
R. S.
Local Thai restaurant with authentic Thai food (or as authentic as I can tell). The atmosphere is a little bright and formal and it's not cheap (might be worth checking the pre theatre menu) but the food is first class and definitely better than most local Thai restaurants
R. C.
Really lovely Thai food, and you can choose your level of spice for each dish. Delcious, if a little pricey. Service was very attentive and friendly.
J. M.
Lovely atmosphere and they do amazing cocktails. The food is good but it is quite expensive for nothing too exciting. Lovely place overall for a fancy night out.
M. S.
Delicious food and very good service. Great music too. Also doing delivery and carry out service. Can't wait to go back.
J. M.
Absolutely amazing food and attentive staff. Can't wait to go back.
P. M.
Visted Passorn Wed 21st March 2018, food was great, really enjoyed every course and the staff were very attentive but whilst still allowing you the space to enjoy your meal. Service was very quick our meal arriving promptly but still allowing time to enjoy each course. Prices quite reasonable for edinburgh. Would highly recommend passorn to friends and family.
L. A. R.
Food here is really top notch, every dish I try is so flavorful. The waiting staff are lovely. This is the place we go for special occasions.
A. A.
Really good and quite authentic Thai food, the spicy dishes really are spicy which is greatly appreciated, and pretty decent service and helpful staff as well! Will be going back
M. D.
Terrific Thai food, decent wine list. The portions are a little on the short side and the service a little fussy but this place deserves to be much busier than it is.
D. D.
I have eaten Thai food for over thirty years, somewhere in the neighborhood of 900 separate meals. The meal I enjoyed at this restaurant in Edinburgh was among the top five Thai dinners I've ever had, including those eaten on a long holiday in Thailand itself. For appetizer we ordered the Plar Neur – Yum Saow Dod, a Spicy Thai tenderloin beef salad that was delicious. We then had a bowl of prawn coconut soup that was some of the best I've ever had in a restaurant. Dinner was traditional pad thai and beef panang, both of which were spot on. Excellent Thai food is not easy to find, anywhere, not least in Britain. But this one is a true gem and worth any little trouble you might have getting there.
M. P.
Easily one of the best Thai meals I've had in Edinburgh was at Passorn for a friend's birthday around two years ago and I've never looked back. Passorn is in a great location just off the Meadows, the decor and atmosphere ooze class and the food is just phenomenal. If you're stuck on what to pick from the menu, go for the monkfish. I can honestly say that whenever I see monkfish on a menu now, I pass, because I'm pretty certain nothing will be able to top the dish I had at Passorn. If that's not a ringing endorsement I don't know what is!
L. M.
Very nice food if slightly over priced, service was very friendly and efficient but atmosphere was odd. Too brightly lit, and other guests voices seemed very loud.
p.
Food was really nice but atmosphere / service was a little stuffy.
P. H.
As always a great relaxing experience & always made to feel welcome. Probably ordered a bit too much food but worth it.🤔😂
A. G.
Went for pre-theather dinner. Service and food were awesome. Wife had the veggie pad thai and I had the Keang Massumann and they were both awesome. I recommend checking this place out for dinner anytime.
T. N.
Tasty food, drinks and nice waiters. I went for the lowest spice level and I still found it a bit spicy but it tasted very fresh and the flavours were good.
A. H.
Lovely food and staff, nice and clean, a real shame you cannot have a beer or a cocktail with your meal...
M. K.
The food was really nice and very esthetic. The place itself looks fancy and the staff is professional. The place is a bit pricey, but hey(!) you pay for what you get!
r. m.
Passorn probably my favourite thai restaurant in edinburgh, having been here now for a few meals that I could not fault at all.I would normally head straight for the chicken dishes but the lamb massamam is heavenly with the meat just falling off the bone, super delicious. It is probably a bit more expensive than the other thai restaurants in the area but is definitely worth making a trip there for a special occasion.
S. I.
I love their "curry specialities"! My fav is the Kaeng Phet Ped Yang,.. a red curry of grilled duck breast with cherry tomatoes, grapes, and Thai sweet basil. Delicious! Modern and elegant place, perfect for 2!
C. C.
Service and food fantastic for birthday dinner
R. W.
A little pricey but super tasty as always
J.
Good food, but service was a little ropey. Had a large group which didn't receive great service. I had a lamb shank and it was real tasty
C. E.
Best Thai food we've ever had!
A. M.
Absolutely the most authentic Thai I have had in a long time, cannot recommend enough..
S. B.
One of the best Thai places in Edinburgh - great lunch deal too.
J. D. (.
Its a nice place to go, probably a little more posh than required to be. The food is OK, and ambience right for a very formal dining kind of an experience.
S. D.
Wow another amazing time. Food is incredible. Its a definite must if your in Edinburgh. Staff are soo polite and friendly.
N.
Great food, excellent service, very clean. Top notch stuff!
A. K.
Not the biggest choice but they make up for it with fantastic flavoursome food. As spicy as you want, just ask any member of the very helpful staff.
C. C.
Great food and good service. Although we were kept waiting/standing for 20 minutes after the time we had booked our table for.
S. V.

Gorgeous Thai. Exceptionally well managed / it comes across, best Thai lamb shank - so so good
R. D.
As good as you will find anywhere.
If you're a bit squeamish about levels of spiciness any main dish can be tailored.
J.
