Absolutely fantastic meal tonight at this restaurant! Super quality food and presentation, staff are so polite and friendly. We'll worth the money, will definitely go back again when visiting Edinburgh.

Lovely gem, no doubt at all. A sort of earthy ambience, with kind and enthusiastic service to match. The space is bright and homey, warm… The food was top notch in my opinion. Salmon cooked perfectly, roasted sides a gorgeous texture, nothing too much or not enough. In particular the smoked haddock cream stew was just so indulgent and tasty I ordered another without shame. The desserts as well a smash hit! If I was local this would be a staple of some monthly sort. I found the cuisine to be a bit less pretentious and “modern European” as every other restaurant in the UK; a bit more rustic with an identity of its own and thank goodness for that. I suppose with the wrong information you may mistake this for a quick stop bistro but it is anything but. This is a full proper restaurant and It’s deserving of praise and attendance, thank you!

Randomly walked by this restaurant and went in for dinner, had the Scottish salmon cakes and Haggis with red wine reduction, along with a glass of pinot grigio. The dishes were excellent: the salmon cakes with crisp coating and a fruity salsa and arugula garnish; among the best salmon cakes I've ever had. The Haggis was not typical with a spicy flavor and no aftertaste of sweet breads and other proteins typical of haggis. The red wine reduction gave a satisfying finish to the overall taste of the dish, the best haggis I've ever had (having enjoyed many servings of haggis over the years, especially around Robbie Burns Day!). Instead of dessert I had a dram of 10 year old Talisker single malt whisky, which made for a nice conclusion to a marvelous gastronomic experience. The service was friendly and professional, with the right amount of attentiveness. Covid19 protocols were in place, with contact tracing documentation and tables are well spaced. The decor is warm, modern, muted, understated yet inviting. I would go again. And highly recommend this restaurant for a great dining experience.

Opened in 2017, a newer restaurant on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh with traditional Scottish fare. The menu is smaller, but each dish is top of the line in taste! I ordered a filet of beef and it was cooked to perfection (The picture does not do it justice). In addition, I ordred the chocolate cheesecake for dessert - excellent! Complements to the chef on all food ordered!

Our experience of Edinburgh thus far has been some what hit and miss. The rules regarding having a 6 month old child and trying to dine out has been a nightmare. That said this place has truly changed the game. Incredible food and I mean incredible!! The steak was one of the best I’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot of steak. The service was good and friendly. Food was great, ordered the soup and haggis. Customer service could be improve. Definitely should look into fixing the address on google map. I was lost for almost 30 mins and a kind pedestrian showed me the correct way. Google map pointed me to the restaurant’s old address which is now a Japanese/Chinese restaurant, about 10 mins walk from the current restaurant’s location.

Pretty average food, which would have been fine if it weren't for the prices. We had a table for dinner in the lower area which had more of a cafe vibe than a restaurant feel. There were also a couple screaming children at different tables, although that's not Pibroch's fault!

It can be a hit or miss. We were 4, 2 of us had lovely dishes that were really well presented (chicken and duck mains) the rest of the group ordered the pie. The pie was massive with fillings coming out of the pastry and chips covering the entire plate. If you want a fancy meal definitely stay clear of the pie but if you are starving the pie would be a great choice as it is really big. Nevertheless the food was lovely and the pricing was more than adequate. I especially liked the haggis appetiser and the duck main! Highly reccomended but be careful with what you choose Also the vegetables on the side are mainly potatoes and some carrots, so not really what we were hoping for, Nevertheless really tasty

This is the second time I've been to the Pibroch but the first time I'd tried the steak. Up until last night I would have said that the best steak I'd ever had was in The Plough and the Stars in Philidelephia. That changed last night, the steak was unbelievable. Cooked perfectly, perfect flavour, just gorgeous. My son who also had the steak was of a similar opinion. Our 2 ladies had vegetarian and loved it. Haggis parcels to start scrumptious. Again a wonderful experience.

this place is amazing. I was there for dinner tonight and didn't expect the food was so good. The soup (seafood chowder?) and my salmon fillet were fantastic. The salmon was grilled to the perfection which the meat was extremely tender and tasty. I would give it a 9.5 out of a 10. The service was also great. You cannot go wrong with this cozy restaurant. I'm Chinese, and I am very picky, so if I tell you that this is a must try, please take my word for it.

WOW! WOW! WOW! The best food we have had in Scotland, by a long way! The haggis parcels were amazing, the chicken parfait was fantastic. The duck for main was out of this world! The cheese board and the chocolate cake for dessert were excellent. Would recommend the Isle of Arron blonde beer too and the strawberry thistle cider. We also had a couple of Whiskies which were lovely soft and smokey. The staff are friendly and the decor and atmosphere are perfect. We would recommend 100%.

The food was amazing- glowing reviews for the aubergine and goat's cheese tart and the pan fried duck! We picked up the sticky ginger pudding too after reading a positive review and whilst I was happy with it, my mum said she couldn't really taste the ginger in it. Be prepared for the service to take a LONG time. I'm not sure if the kitchen wasn't prepared for someone ordering the vegetarian option on the menu, but it took around half an hour, and another 20 or so for the dessert. The waiters were also pretty slow and didn't communicate to each other very well but the place had only reopened a couple of days ago so it was likely a one off! All in all, a great stop if you don't have any plans. If you're going to the theater or something after dinner, I'd think again.

I popped in the this restruant quite last minute without booking. The very kind waitress found a space and told me to take my time. I felt instantly welcome. The menu is small but perfect. A nice selection of meat in particular. I was genuinely couldn’t decide. I opted for the beef fillet with chips. It turned out the be the best steak I’ve had in years- definitely since moving back to the Uk 2 years ago! Perfectly cooked, portioned and with a peppercorn sauce that wasn’t creamy or overpowering. Very sim y and nicely done. The chips were fresh and homemade. Faultless. I didn’t have dessert- too full, but again a nice choice. Wine wise- I had a Malbec, lovely and reasonably priced. My daughter and I are visiting Scotland for the first time and wanted to try Scottish food. We stopped by here in the late afternoon- after the lunch crowd and right before they closed for the late afternoon. We ordered the haggis parcels which were amazing! A savory taste with a sweet plum sauce on top. The filling was a smooth texture wrapped in the crispy, flaky filo wrap. For the main course my daughter ordered the mushroom and Parmesan risotto - wonderfully prepared with great flavors. This is very filling and is perfect for any picky eater in the family. I ordered a steak and ale pie. Loved it! Even loved the beets on the side. The chips/fries were the best we have had in our entire time in the UK and way better than anything I have in a long time in the US. Dip the fries into the gravy from the pie- perfect! Above all, the staff was super friendly and kind. We were there after everyone else left and the restaurant was closed for the afternoon. They never rushed us and made sure we were well attended, even packing up our leftovers ( the portions are big!) and the take away dessert we ordered. We are going back on Sunday to try the dinner menu!

Lovely place to get some Scottish food. Excellent service and super yummy food. I went here for lunch today and had the Cullen Sink soup and one of the best desserts I have ever had, a date/ginger bread pudding with salted caramel ice cream. The ambiance and decor of this restaurant is also very nice. Lot's of light and space. The menu is inventive and does a nice play on some Scottish classics. Very tasty traditional Scottish cuisine in a very nice environment. My friends and myself absolutely loved it. The staff are the friendliest and most accomodating people I have ever met. This is the first time I have bothered to review a restaurant, but this place deserves five stars. This is a restaurant which serves traditional scottish comfort food, made to perfection and served in wholsome portion sizes (no «waffer thin chocolat’ monsuir» nor ‘merican supersize) and presented in an appetizing fashion. The staff is helpful, skilled and very friendly. Being wished welcome back upon returning by the staff, even the ones not serving our table, and remembering how I like my tea served illustrates this. The restaurant has a unike charm being tastefully decorated in what I would describe as a scottish minimal rustique fashion. It was a shame we found this place only on the second to last day of our vacation. Needless to say we came back on the last day as well.
