Reviews of Quick & Plenty Cafe
V. B.
I came here for breakfast yesterday and it might have been the best decision I made during my trip to Edinburgh. The owner (Jonathan) was very nice and warm and welcomed me into the restaurant and gave me the run down on the Scottish breakfast. I was a bit scared to try the haggis and black pudding, but everything was delicious! Jonathan said that they had the best haggis in town and he wasn’t lying. The meal was warm and delicious and the perfect fuel for a long and cold day of exploring, and more than that it gave me a taste of Scottish hospitality! You have to need to come here at least once, but hopefully more, in your life!
S. S.
Really great cafe with an amazing owner! The food was great, and we tried many different Scottish foods here for the first time. Amazing experience!
S. L.
Went to Edinburgh for a short trip and I ordered the Big Breakfast to get the full Scottish breakfast experience. The food came out very hot as you can see from the smoke in the photo haha. Each item taste great and the staff are very friendly. Definitely will come back again and recommend this place to everyone.

Breakfast at Quick & Plenty Cafe was a perfect start to the day. Food was delicious and service was amazing. The owner was very friendly, stopped by every table to chat and made sure everybody was comfortable. We also got free haggis and millionaire shortbread with our breakfast to try. Overall it was a memorable experience and one of the best places I've eaten at in Edinburgh. Highly recommended if you're looking for a place with great food and atmosphere.

Absolutely lovely place! We went to the Quick & Plenty Cafe with few friends for a Scottish breakfast and we couldn't have found any better. Food was delicious (we've ordered various versions of both meat and veggie dishes). The staff provides amazing atmosphere and vibe which combined with the meals gives you extra energy for the rest of your sightseeing. Fully recommending :)
A. S.
Great place. The food is as you expect, sorted us right out. The owner was really sound and had a good chat with us, there was a good buzz on what was an exceptionally busy time for them. Have to give 4 stars as since they were busy, it meant it wasn’t too ‘quick’ but it sure was ‘plenty’ and we will be back again some day for sure.
R. L.
My favourite go to local cafe. Loved by the community, yet a hidden gem to others. Still family run and as friendly as ever.
Just great no nonsense fare, with a bit of flair.
I'm always here when l'm in Edinburgh, my "home town".
T. C.
The best traditional little eatery i’ve been to in a long while. Great value for money and the food was great. We stopped for breakfast with family while passing through Edinburgh and we were more than satisfied with big portions and tasty, traditional full scottish! Haggis were top notch and their scones with homemade jam nice and fresh! Loved the old fashioned, locally vibe as well.
Can not recommend it enough, shout-out to the owner for being so nice, family business through and through.
C. H.
An absolutely essential delicious and affordable breakfast/lunch spot. The owner Jonny is one of the friendliest people you'll ever meet and made the whole experience genuinely unforgettable. It felt like you're just hanging out with real Edinburgh-ers(?) while eating delicious Scottish food. I can't recommend Quick and Plenty enough. One of the greatest dining experiences I've ever had. Such an incredible representation of such an incredible city.
A. F.
Quick and Plenty was the bomb! Breakfast was great and the cook was fun and had good jokes too. High quality traditional scottish breakfast was a great way to start the day. Thanks Johnny!
K. L.
Great place to go for a proper breakfast and they know how to make a great cuppa! The 2 guys that were there were so friendly and up for a laugh. Would definitely go back and would highly recommend 👌
A. M.
We went on a short trip and this was the perfect place to have a traditional Scottish breakfast. It is a family owned business and the owner is very kind and hospitable. We got the "hungry tummy" (9 pounds) and it was more than enough for 2 people. Make sure to grab some cake on the go as well - the caramel one is great.
C.
Great food and service will definitely come again!
C. W.
Just been for a curry off their new menu. Sunday night eating never been so good. Blew me away tonight! Food is astounding, great place to eat and hang out. Superb!
D.
Looking for a breakfast this morning , came across this place , was just opening , well what can I say ! Staff were brilliant, so friendly.food was good, I have to mention, a woman came in and asked for a piece of buttered bread for her son who was hungry , they gave her cakes and the bread for free , but also with a smile and some banter. Friendliest cafe I think I've ever been in . Thank you , will be back .
N. N.
Scottish breakfast! It was so yummy. Love the food and the vibes 😄
J. B.
Cracking wee place for a cooked breakfast to set you up for the day! Staff were friendly and chatty which created a welcoming atmosphere. Will definitely return at some point in the future.
A. S. M.
Had breakfast here for our last day in Edinburgh - Johnny and the gang were lovely kind and funny which made us feel right at home. The food was 10/10 and it's just a very homely place to go. Would recommend to others :)
S. M.
Not only do these guys do belly busting breakfast, they’ve also started doing curries at the weekend!
I went with a friend last night (Sunday) and they have a traditional chef in the kitchen cranking out amazing stuff!
Try the pakora and traditional curry just for starters!!!
J. W.
Amazing breakfast from here, if it's a proper hearty fry up you're looking for this is where you'll find it. The owner was a lovely bloke (with great music taste) and made us feel really welcome.
A. L.
Excellent food (try the legendary big breakfast!) with a relaxed, friendly vibe and a charming atmosphere. A very welcome change from chain cafés and pretentious brunch spots.
F. C.
Love this place! Delicious food, good prices, and friendly people. Best breakfast I've had in the UK.
L. L. d. S.
Great Scottish breakfast, great service! Very friendly guy serving us! I recommend it if you are around Edinburgh.
K. B.
Love the place, the food is amazing. The staff are so friendly and nice, they made me feel like home even if i’m a foreigner!❤️
A. R.
Great wee cafe. Food was good and cakes are amazing. Would recommend!
J. J.
This place is brilliant. My and my mate were walking past and the cafe is slightly hidden but other shops so it didn’t stand out however we still went in. The staff are amazingly friendly and hilarious. The tunes are class and we were made to feel very welcome. Food pricing is good and comes fairly quickly as long as they aren’t dancing around for too long 🤪. I will be returning!
J. C.
Fantastic cafe - really friendly owner and staff. Tasty food cooked to perfection. Really good value aswell. My brekkie set me up for the whole day walking around Edinburgh :-)
V. I.
Simple, tasty, local cafe. Family business for over 90 years - "it was quick & plenty, today it's slow & little" said our busy chef. Glad that was a joke!
Definitely a must visit for a proper Scottish breakfast.
G. R.
The Staff were very helpful, their hot Breakfast was amazing. It's a good old fashioned, warm, friendly atmosphere cafe, that serves the best food, without all the modern coffee shop pretentiousness. A Good Builders Cafe, but also a Great place to recharge when Christmas shopping.
Highly recommended.
D. R.
Quick and Plenty's QP stands for quality product 😍. Thanks for the great breakfast, vegetarian too 😍😍🥳
A. B.
If the fact that this place has been open and family run for 99 YEARS isn't enough to tell you that they are doing something right, let me tell you..it's a traditional wee Scottish cafe, they do cheap, amazing breakfasts and the banter is top notch. Exactly what I needed to cure my hangover!
Also.. Edinburgh chippy sauce on the tables...😙👌
A. T.
The place was awesome and the food delicious! Both of the owners were really nice to us. They also offered free higgies and typical Scotland sweets. Definitely we will come back.
A. C.
Great food at great prices served by some of the friendliest people in Edinburgh. Everyone should visit.
K. B.
Called for breakfast 2 mornings whilst on a short break to Edingburgh on the 2nd and 3rd Dec. Friendly staff good food and I'd never had haggis before it was delicious. Would definitely return
A. N.
Budget-friendly fresh and tasty food served with lots of love and talks. People are very welcoming and friendly here. Met Jonathan who also served us world's hottest sauce.
Love from Sheffield.
R. H.
Best cafe in tollcross. Great food especially when your hanging. Staff was friendly with banter and top tunes
M. N. L.

N.
The food was great, the atmosphere is absolutely amazing and the chef is super nice and kind.
C. M.
Delicious and filling breakfast, great service and you get your food fast!
L.
Very good Scottish breakfast. Friendly owner. Good experience
A. Z.
We were treated very nicely, the place is tiny but it makes it kind of cosy. We had a small breakfast to have a taste of Scottish ones and it was okay! Gave us a lot of energy for the day ;P
B. F.
Cracking hospitality and a top Scottish breakfast. Well worth it!
R. C.
Popped in for a coffee and a scone, and was pleasantly surprised at how busy it gets. This is a small cafe in size , but very busy with its extensive menu , also prices are way below city centre cafes , the owner was very welcoming . Definitely will return again .
J. A.
Very friendly staff, good food and price and very convenient location. Very busy but very well managed.
J. G.
Café is small but you have what you need. The food was really nice and the John the owner? is energetic, friendly and efficient. He was a staff member down and was busy with not only people coming in to eat but also with delivery orders. I didn't wait long at all for my food and they even checked that my food was ok during my meal. I got the Hungry tummy breakfast and I was not disappointed, absolutely stuffed.
As I am a visitor, he even gave me a taste of Scotland as he put it, a piece of Millionaires Shortbread it was delicious.
Would definitely go back if in the area again, you have to try the small local run businesses when travelling. It was a good find.
T. H.
Does exactly what it says on the tin. I really enjoyed my Bacon Burger. I walked past McDonald’s, Subway, Spoons and some hipster burger places to get here, which tells you something. (Apparently opens at 9 though, not 8 as listed on here.)
P.
The best traditional scran in Edinburgh, Johnny is a gem of the city , always return when I’m in Edinburgh
E. H.
Everyone was really friendly and made sure we got our breakfast even though they were really busy !
A. J.
Came here on a bank holiday, delicious food, fab atmosphere 10/10 ✨

Absolute gem of a cafe, the owner was lovely and the breakfast delicious and cheap! If we're ever back in Edinburgh this will be our first stop!

Beautiful bacon rolls, tasty, cheap, fast and very friendly service. Will be back.
E. A.
Excellent breakfast spot. The owner is really nice and welcoming and the food is great!
F. W.
Very tasty goat cheese, homemade green pesto and grilled peppers panini. BBQ pulled pork on baguette was so good with cheese and homemade coleslaw so yummy
N. D.
Great banter while I waited for my BEST IN EDINBURGH chicken mayo roll...dont forget to grab a delicious tray bake or two as well ;-)
V. R.
Delicious breakfast! Cozy and authentic Scottish cafe serving an all day breakfast. Very friendly staff with an at home feel. No frills, but that just adds to the authenticity of this great cafe. Would definitely recommend the quick and plenty breakfast with a hashbrown on the side.
s. m.
Lovely little spot, with great service and tasty food. Will be back soon.
S. R. D.
Good banter. Fun timez. Classic fry-up. We even got to choose the music.
K. A.
Brilliant cafe .. Great food and great customer service from the dancing cook .. Will definitely be back :)
R.
One of the best cafes I have visited in a long time, especially given this was my first visit to Edinburgh! I will 100% be coming back in the near future. Great food, great service and brilliant history!
M. R.
The food was fresh, properly prepared and a great value for the price. We highly recommend it. The breakfast brunch was great. We went at 10:45 and everything was still hot and there was plenty of everything. Our server was very friendly and took good care of us.
Keep up the good work Johnny!
Thanks,
Mano.
K. B.

F. B.
Just wanted to say a big thanks to the delivery driver today. He was under a lot of pressure being so short staffed but still his customer service was excellent. Thanks for replacing the coffee. The food was really good and fresh.
B. W.
The breakfast was really nice and I would highly recommend eating here. I had a take away and got home yolk was still brilliant and run when cut in to it. Haggis was brilliant i not a big fan of haggis being English but this was really nice, black pudding was really nice. Would eat here again and highly recommend to others to try it
F. R.
Proper full Scottish breakfast, black pudding, haggis, tattie scones, the works!
A. W.
Both the food and service were truly fantastic. The host was curious about our trip and offered us some very helpful advice, and on top of that was a great cook. Perfect place for honest Scottish breakfasts.
My only regret/complaint is not getting to go back. If you find yourself in the area, I truly suggest stopping by.
A. R.
It’s a small cafe that serves a fantastic breakfast.
J. D.
Very friendly staff and great food will be coming again.
Z. B.

So glad they're back open again. We had a lovely breakfast - reasonably priced, hearty all day breakfasts. They even have vegetarian options. Great service, super friendly.
I. C.
It's a great local business, where you can eat plenty of delicious Scottish breakfasts, andtand owners are very friendly. We really got a taste of Scottish hospitality. When we go to Edinburgh again, we'll definitely return! Thanks!:))) Greetings from Hungary❤️

Wonferdul breakfast, both veggie and non-veggie, in a cosy place and with a lovely staff ! Great quality for cheap prices!
M. G.
Extremely nice people here. Food is good and they are very accommodating and cheerful
M. G.
Friendly and excellent service! I had the Hungry Tummy breakfast and it was abundant and delicious. Will definitely come back. Highly recommend to try the caramel shortbread too. Thank you!
M. v. W.
Very welcoming, friendly atmosphere. Perfect full 'Scottish' breakfast at a very reasonable price. Had breakfast on Monday. Went back for seconds on Wednesday. Do hope the next investment will be a new exhaust hood, since I can still smell the bacon in my coat (smells good though).
A. M.
Dropped into Quick & Plenty Cafe, discovered it is a family run business, serving locals and the like for almost 100yrs. Came across it as it was the only place in the location that I could find that does an all day breakfast. We ordered a small breakfast with tea, bacon roll and a scrambled egg roll with an added potato scone. Absolute delish, just what I needed. Great price!!! Also great wee atmosphere with quick entertaining service, will be back for sure.
B. L. A.
Not to discourage anyone from going to this place but I do think that the outside of the place and the inside decor was gonna reflect on the food and service. When I went in I wasn’t optimistic about how I was going to feel with the said things above. I did feel like I wanted to leave and go somewhere else but it just goes to show that the inside of a place isn’t the reflection of the food or service. We was greeted warmly and straight away noticed the genuine guy with the food at his heart. With a big full breakfast and toast with scrambled eggs and beans with a tea, would have expected to cost us more than £10! With such little prices and amazing food, I would recommend this to anyone in Edinburgh.
C. A. h. b. f. o. m.
Staff are super friendly, and the food is good
R. K. R.
Really nice traditional Scottish breakfast place - great Fry-Up's and Rolls. Its rustic, but the genuine welcoming hospitality from staff and their 90 year old history serves a reason why it is still a stable business with lots of customers. Staff likes to joke, and are in really good mood. For finishing all of the big breakfast option I got given a small complimentary cake. Prices are very good, used to consider Wetherspoon breakfast as a good deal, but I was wrong, never going there again. Their name wonderfully exemplifies their business attitude, it's quickly prepared and plenty for your appetite. Can't recommend enough.
M.
Quick & Plenty is a place you HAVE to visit. It doesn't look much from the outside, but it's been serving breakfast for 90 years.
The Scottish breakfast is fabulous, having 3 sizes to choose from. But on top of everything, there is the guy who runs it. He's extremely friendly and playful, joking around all the time.
Definitely worth it!
R. V.
Brilliant affordable food - definitely coming back!
C. C.
The best place. Delicious food and great people. I Love it.
c. f.

we actually wanted to do a roadtrip through scotland but our motorhome broke down in england, so we stayed in Edinburgh for one week, the city is beautiful, there is a lot to see, many great restaurants and shops, with great friendly people who made our honeymoon pleasant after all, thank you so very much! :)
Greetings from switzerland, we will miss you and your breakfast

A. C.
Wonderful service, great full Scottish breakfasts at great prices. Staff are so cheerful, it's a friendly atmosphere with a mix of locals and visitors. Will definitely return!
C. G.
Good small cafe with friendly efficient service at very reasonable prices. The only drawback is that there is not very much leg room at the tables. Apart from that little bit of criticism I will definitely be back.
P. N.
Food was great, simple yet lovely! Staff were having a laugh and visibly enjoying their job which gave the cafe a nice feel to it. Also excellent tunes, thanks again for the free cake!!!
C. M.
Delicious traditional breakfasts and rolls, quick service and wonderful atmosphere. Be prepared for some quality banter if you choose to sit in. Take the table by the window if you need a bit of space to sit down as it's a cozy place and the tables and chairs are fixed in place.
G. T.
Hands down the best breakfast in Edinburgh! Peter and the guys do and amazing job and make this a truly family oriented and wonderful experience. Huge portions of delicious, local sourced food!

Absolutely incredible. I’ve never had a better breakfast in many years of traveling. It’s a small family owned business and I cannot wait to return to Edinburgh for another breakfast here.

Best place for breakfast in Edinburgh! As the name suggests, quick and plenty. Lovely atmosphere! Treat yourself to a visit
A. ..
Wonderful little cafe not far from old city center and castle! Good food, reasonably priced, fun atmosphere with good music, and most importantly friendly and generous owners who offered complimentary Scottish bites. Would absolutely recommend going!
S. H.
Fantastic service at the oldest cape in Edinburgh great food 😀👍
F. R.
Lovely home cooked food served quickly. Staff are lovely, genuine and very welcoming. Would definitely recommend to vegetarians and meat eaters as there were plenty of options available.
P. D.
Found this place on the off chance thought why not
2 lads from Birmingham England asked for a full English got told no it’s a full Scottish.
It was mint loved the lot of it
Tried the haggis and loved that to
Top class cafe good vibes and good staff
Keep up the good work
All the best
F. A.
Food itself is really good and there’s lots of choice. However was extremely disappointed by its service on Deliveroo: they have their own drivers and it took 4 HOURS for the food to arrive despite saying the delivery time would be 20-35 minutes. Go to the cafe itself!
P. R.
(Not so) Quick (oh I get that's festival! Just Eat delivery driver must have been struggling) however one and a half hours waiting for a burger and (overcooked) chips? Plus, my order was incomplete. Where's my Toffee yum yum?
J. G.
Love this place. Over the top hospitality and great food. Local eats if you ever saw it! Great Scottish breakfast.
T. W.
Really good authentic food and really friendly staff members. Would definitely recommend.

Great small hidden gem in Edinburgh. Have to respect the chef who seems to be coping very well with a large quantity of orders.
P. C.
Great full Scottish breakfast, including Haggis, and cheery service.
Interior is like going back to the 90s, in the best possible way.
E. B.
Great visit again, this time it was the 'team girls' who served me with a smile. Music was used to brighten the mood, fun banter and that was had by all. Will visit more still.
K. B.
Cheap, good food, quick service and staff who are up for a chat, in a cafe that's been in the family 100 years. Would definitely come again.

It is like Narnia: from outside looks like a old wardrobe, what makes it special, but when you go inside, is a different world.
Perfect place to choose between a huge variety of healty products and its highly reccomendable for the whole family.
Jhonny and Daniel are connected by pure friendship, brotherhood. They are what really makes the place special!

(Translated) Can't fully understand the good rating. The tables and benches are way too narrow and should be redone. The air in the store is also very bad when the fryer is running in the kitchen.
The breakfast was delicious and the brown sauce is recommended.
(Original)

Niepozorne miejsce, pyszne jedzenie i niesamowity właściciel. Zdecydowanie polecam odwiedzic to miejsce aby poczuć klimat miasta od strony jego mieszkańców i spróbować typowego szkockiego jedzenia.

(Translated) A fun experience, but the food and drink were not so delicious, but the atmosphere was high in the store. The waiter misunderstood the order and the food was not cooked ready when it was served. However, this was rectified upon request.
(Original)
En sjov oplevelse, men maden og drikkelsen var ikke så lækkert, men stemningen var høj i butikken. Tjeneren misforstod ordren og maden var ikke tilberedt færdig da det blev serveret. Dette blev der dog rettet op på efter opfordring.
