Freshly made fish and chips at Salt and Vinegar is the best, especially after a night out. They are open till late in the night and are always hospitable!

As sad as it sounds I try to have a kebab in every place I visit. Nipped across the road from the Sheraton where I was staying and I certainly wasn't disappointed. Had a long chat with the owner who was a very pleasant guy, ordered the mixed doner ( lamb and chicken ) he made me up his special salad to go with it ( balsamic and olive oil dressing ) and I've got to say the whole meal was probably the best I've ever ever had. Next time I'm back in Edinburgh I know where I'm going again.

Lovely little chip shop - the secret surprise is the doner pizza and the lovely owner. The fish and chips and scampi are top notch but we came back for the chicken doner pizza and the warmth of the owner. Great value for money and really really good food!

Visited after reading the reviews, staying in Edinburgh for a few days and the food is absolutely delicious! I never normally have a kebab as I find them greasy but my partner ordered me one… and it did not disappoint! It was so fresh and tasty and not greasy at all. I poped in just to try my very first deep fried mars bar... and it was perfect! I stayed for deep fried pizza and got extra serving of kebab meat for free ... lads behind a counter are very friendly and polite... i can't recomend them more :)

A wonderful place that saved my life at 1:30am after lots of beer. The fish and chips are delicious, as well as the deep fried pizza or the fried Mars bar. The service is extremely friendly and it's a very clean and nice location. If you're around Haymarket, it's definitely worth it paying them a visit. Also they have sucuk.

Went there to grab food the evening after arriving in Scotland. Food was good, portions were massive, and service was exceptional. Had pleasant conversation about how we were from America, and received advice about what to do, where to go, and how to get there. While preparing for this trip, we heard about deep fried Mars bars a fair bit, and as the worker was packing up our food my mom jokingly pointed out that it was on the menu. Hearing this, he fried one up for us free of charge as long as we promised to write a review! So here we are lol

I had fish & chips here today and it was amazing! The owner was incredibly nice. The food was made fresh while waited and was every bit as good as other more expensive restaurants. I'll definitely go back. UPDATE: I stayed in Edinburgh for a month, and ended up coming back here 3 or 4 times. The food was always fresh, delicious, and the owner was friendly and welcoming. I love this place!

I had pie and chips with 3 battered sausages, the wife got fish and chips with curry sauce. It came to 20 pounds with two drinks. Food was good, traditional fish shop. We ate in and the Turkish guy behind the counter could not be not be more friendly. A sweet genuine guy who was super nice. Overall it was a great experience, not pricey and the food/service was great.

Absolutely fresh and amazing food. The fish was of high quality. The most memorable experience was the behaviour of the staff. My mom ordered pizza for take away but she liked the curry sauce given with the fish and chips which I ordered. On knowing that, he made some fresh sauce for my mom and did not even charge for it. A must go place.

Highly recommend this friendly takeaway!! Pizza was amazing and the chips were freshly cooked. Chilli sauce has a really nice flavour to it. Will be for sure a regular at this place. Staff are amazing and friendly too.

Big variety that are all done just right! I've seen other places such as kebab shops trying to do pizza or fish and chips trying to do kebab as well but not be that good, however this place is AWESOME. We all had a variety of dishes and they were all very good. I personally had a pizza and my wife fish and chips and ours friend's different kebabs each. We all thought each dish were well proportioned, priced and most importantly very tasty. The pizza was so nice and the pastry was different to anything I had beffore. It didn't feel oily with fat dripping off it yet it was very tasty. The staff are friendly and helpful, seemed like they couldn't do enough for us. The premises were very clean. The two down sides are, one it's not local to me 😭 and the other is it's not a very big premises so can't accommodate large groups sitting together but the food more than makes up for that 😉

This place is fantastic! My family and I ate here two nights in a row because of the variety and the quality. Every dish we had--including the fish and chips, wraps, pies, and kebabs--were amazing. The portions are generous, the service is quick, the staff are friendly and very accommodating, and the overall atmosphere is lovely. I definitely recommend this place!!

Amazing place to eat. I've eaten there three times during a trip of one week with my friends. As italians it's not to easy to satisfy us with food, but the two guys did an excellent job (they're also very nice people to talk to, we had a really nice time every time we eated there). We only tried fish & chips and the bacon cheeseburger, but everything seemed delicious. Definitely try this place if your in Edinburgh, and don't forget to ask for the chippy sauce.

We got there right after a lot of people .ade orders. We ended up waiting awhile. Ut they were very apologetic and gave us a bigger fish to accommodate the wait time. It was unnecessary but incredibly kind. Would definitely recommend them! The fish was also very good!

Late night flying into Edinburough. This was one of only a few places still serving food. They bent over backwards to make sure we had everything that we needed. They even gave us additional items that were not included with our meals. The fish and chips were fresh and crispy. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a quick meal or take out.

They sell the traditional Fisn N Chips which is a nicely prepared and marinated fish with lots of french fries, obviously with salt and vinegar. The dish is certainly too heavy and must be accompanied by a can of coke. Other snack items too are available here. The location, on the other hand is good... It's opposite to Sheraton Grand hotel, Luthion road, Edinburgh, UK
