Reviews of Scran Bistro

Stopped in here as it was chucking it down with rain. A bit disappointed everything seems to be served with chips which were just frozen standard french fries, no options for baked potato etc. Burgers big size. Chicken and pesto wrap unfortunately soggy as heated on a grill meant the pesto had separated and left the underside of wrap all greasy. Would have been better to offer it as a salad wrap cold. A bit pricey for lunch and better to be had elsewhere for less. Good coffee.

Stopped in here for lunch. The food was nice with large portions. Staff were pretty inattentive, even though there were more than enough employees for the number of people eating here. They brought out the wrong kind of drink - with ice despite my request for it without - and weren't particularly friendly either.
It seemed the role of two of the waitstaff was to amble around the dining area with nothing to do. We waited maybe 15-20 minutes before anyone enquired if we were finished, enough time for roughly four laps around our table. The entire dining area, and all of its patrons, were situated in one small room.
For a chain with multiple locations, you'd think its workers would have more accessible training.
Complaints aside, the food - pictured below - was good, and the restaurant was aesthetically pleasing. I doubt we would return to any of their locations due to this experience, especially when there are plenty of other eateries with staff who at least pretend to be happy to see you.

Food was absolutely amazing. I had the Scran box buffalo chicken, and my partner had the Chipotle wrap. The portion sizes are very generous here. Would 100% return when i come back to Edinburgh 💙🏴

This place offers a serious feed for a very reasonable price, especially considering the location. The staff were great and I couldn’t even touch the second half of my wrap, because of the generous portions. Scran doesn’t advertise “brunch” because you eat it between breakfast and lunch… it combines both meals into one!! Also, treat yourself to a coffee - I haven’t been able to find a nicer one in an Edinburgh café yet!
K. R.
The staff were all amazing, making sure we had everything we needed and just all around made it a great experience. The food was just as amazing with large portions and delicious homemade feeling food! I will definitely be going back.
M. L.
Food and coffee was amazing, quick and friendly service and beautiful inside with a great location, but unfortunately the reason for only 3 stars is the worst toilet I have been to, in years, the toilet seat was broken, completely cracked in 3 different bits, the lid was behind the door, the toilet roll had to sit on top of the sink, which guess what it was wet n soggy. The floor, walls, mirror, toilet and sink were dirty, not like too many people used it since it had been cleaned, it has clearly not had a good proper clean in a while and lastly the hand dryer would take about an hour to dry your hands, it was so weak. Very disappointing after everything else was so good.
For me a good venue make sure they look after all aspects of the business.

It's not easy finding good food places in general but it's even harder when your on holidays. I looked up the best food places in Edinburgh and this was one of the top ones that came up. I definitely wasn't disappointed! Firstly, the portions are really generous secondly, the prices are very affordable and thirdly they have charging ports which is a must nowadays. I would've loved to give 5 stars but unfortunately some of the servers weren't very nice or attentive. I was left to be served by one gentleman who was really kind and pretty much doing everything for myself and other customers (deserves a raise). All in all I highly recommend Scran and give them a 4/5.
M. S.
At first I was skeptical, pasta in a wrap? But it was amazing, I definitely recommend. Also, you need to try their milkshakes! I got a takeaway then had to go back for another milkshake, so good!
R. G.
Great food, reasonably priced. Friendly service. We went early for breakfast and when we left there was a queue out of the door! So would advise getting there early as they don’t take bookings. Highly recommend the breakfast roll (pictured below).
D. K.
Great place for unusual food combo’s. Seen it on tik too and decided to visit when I was over for a day from Glasgow. It’s gets busy we had to wait few minutes for a table but it was well worth it. Mac & cheese wrap and pizza fries were amazing
J. S.
Fantastic food- great service. I had the falafal adn hummus wrap with sweet potato fries. My hubby had the chipotle chicken wrap. At the servers recommendation, ordered a nutella milkshake - yum!
G. A.
One of the best chai latte's I've had, one of the best breakfast's me and my friends had on our visit to Edinburgh.
The place is very nice, has a calm zen atmosphere, no overpowering music, no overpowering smells, no overpowering lights, just calm and welcoming.
Outdoor and indoor seating.
The food is good, like, pretty good. It smelt so delicious and tasted exactly the same. We voted it the best out of all the restaurants we visited on our 3 day stay.
The staff can make or break an experience, the staff here are very helpful. Checked up on us every now and then, took our special requests and overall just seemed happy to help.
We didn't wait too for our food to arrive, which was an issue in most of the restaurants we went to.
I'll be there again the next time I visit Edinburgh.

Nice little bistro in old town. Wondered in randomly but ended up really liking the place. All-day breakfast menu is extensive, alongside normal wraps and classic meal options to anyone’s taste. Good value for money too.
S. F.
Great food with great views!
Visited with a friend and we both had the breakfast waffles, they were really good.
Staff is really friendly and helpful with the menu. Prices are normal for Edinburgh.
Recommended!

My girlfriend and I visited all three Scran locations whilst at Edinburgh (we later realised the brunch and cocktail branch was right by the main one)! The food was incredible and certainly exceeded expectations, granted we discovered Scran due to TikTok. Milkshakes were such an incredible addition to the food and the presentation of everything was so aesthetically pleasing. Absolutely recommend for tasty food, drinks and thoughtfully plated meals.
Y. A.
Amazing food. The fried chicken is remarkable their wraps have a decent portion size and the loaded fries are so flavourful.
Beyond the food the seating is really nice and comfy and the aesthetics and vibe the place has, is really cool and relaxed.
Their biggest selling point is staff however, all the staff are super friendly and nice and most importantly they look like they have fun. Massive shout out to Holly and Katie who were funny, light-hearted and amazing all round. Whether it was listening to them sing or just get on with their work with a good attitude and smile they are definitely an asset to this business.
Come for the food stay for the vibes.
L. C.
Quirky restaurant in Edinburgh. Food tastes great and had good priced cocktails and alcoholic drinks. God portion sizes too. Waiters very attentive.
C. S.
Really good food and not too expensive. The location is also very nice. Not all staff were very friendly but that alright as the food was good!
T. R.
Food was fantastic, dogs were made so welcome and the staff were lovely. Just make sure you don't eat before you go as the portions are VERY generous! Very good value for money. i wanted to try the milkshakes but I couldn't eat anymore after my food so... we will just have to come back.
J. P.
When we arrived, we were greeted by very friendly staff. The options for food were outstanding and the food itself was so fresh.
I had the vegan bagel and my partner had the French toast. We both loved our meals.
The service was impeccable.
The only thing was, we were asked twice if we wanted anything else after we'd finished, both quite quickly after each other so we were unsure if were being rushed. We put it down to a lack of communication between the two staff members and didnt think much else of it. We also needed to be somewhere soon after, so didn't mind too much.
Would highly recommend!
J. F.
We loved our meal at Scran. The service was sincerely friendly. The comfort food offered is on steroids- as in, so tasty, so appealing and so filling. Pepperoni fries?!? Come on! The sun cascades by day and the tall buildings cut down the breeze. We can't recommend it more highly.
B. C. W.
Great location for an early morning breakfast! It seemed to be shut initially but as we walked through the arcade we saw it was simply just open at one end. It could perhaps do with a little more signage from the side of the arcade which is unmanned in the mornings!
B. B.
Best value food by far that we saw during the 3 days in Edinburgh. Menu is pretty varied and unsophisicated but you get good sized portions of tasty food. We went there twice. If you're lucky enough to get a window table, it's the best spot in the city for people watching on a beautiful sloping street just off the Royal Mile. Usually pretty busy and not huge inside, but its worth a visit.
B. W.
We love the milkshake here! Also the Scottish Breakfast is delicious. Staffs are very friendly too.
S. D.
Decor and vibe was nice.. though some questionable music choices.
Food was subpar. For the money I would’ve expected a lot more. I had the Vegetarian burger- which unfortunately wasn’t a moving mountains but a potato and sweet corn fritta; which i was mildly disappointed with. My partner had the avocado and bacon beef burger which was decent but nothing more than a Wetherspoons burger but for more money.
Service was decent. just the food was a little disappointing, and though i can’t speak from experience but everyone around us who had the wrap and the pizza loaded fries left a lot of their meal and didn’t look much pleased with what they did eat.
If your in Edinburgh on a trip i would avoid this as we left feeling like we had missed an opportunity to eat somewhere better and what we would’ve expected from an Edinburgh bistro.
J. H.
Some of the best breakfast I've ever had... veggie haggis was amazing, everything cooked to perfection. Great portion for the price. Cool vibe and decor. Lovely staff. We came back the next day for breakfast too. Just amazing!
R. P.
Amazing breakfast place. Requires a bit of patience to be seated but food and service make up for the wait. Biscoff milkshakes are wonderful
J. R.
Mid price range, good quality food. Had brunch and it was all served quickly & decent size portions. Not the best coffee I’ve had but still a decent brunch!
J. C.
Great location for people watching from the outside tables, plus an excellent menu with generous portions. The bread alone is worth a visit. The black pudding is superb.
S. H.
Great Scottish breakfast and a good coffee. Shame the experience was let down by poor service. It was busy, but staff still preferred to chat amongst themselves. rather than being attentive to the tables. Drinks arrived after the food and further drinks ordered after the meal never arrived.
J. Y.
An amazing breakfast if you're looking for somewhere to go on the royal mile. I had the full Scottish which comes with haggis and a potato scone, my girlfriend had the breakfast stack which looked amazing too. There are so many options so you won't be disappointed!
E. P.
Delicious food and welcoming staff. The food was fantastic and all came out at the same time. The staff were very attentive and made sure to get our orders completely right which I was impressed with as we were a group of 8!! I’d definitely come back and recommend to anyone staying in Edinburgh🥳🥳
J. B.
We came here for brunch and both had the breakfast stack which was bacon, poached egg, black pudding, hash browns, avocado and potato cake on sourdough toast. Would definitely recommend
R. C.
Great food and friendly staff. I ate here twice during my short trip to Edinburgh and will definitely return. It does get busy so I would recommend avoiding the peak lunch time.
w. w.
Just fantastic had wanted to go from the moment we knew we were going to Edinburgh as had seen posts on social media, we were not let down it was the 1st meal we had in Edinburgh during our 3 day stay and it was by far the best! Price was also very reasonable, go you will not be disappointed staff where all brilliant I'll be back when I'm next in Edinburgh, cute panda 🐼 😉.
H. V.
The service was extremely efficient at Scran. Our orders were taken and served promptly. The portions were large and satisfying.
l. l.
Came to scran during my time in Edinburgh, ordered the chipotle wrap, flavour were immaculate and massive portions, ended up coming back again that evening and again the next day, amazing food each time, Mac and cheese wrap was sooo tasty as well as the burgers, friendly staff and fast service. Can't recommend more if you're in the area. Instantly felt welcomed by the lovely Sully he was so helpful and made us fall in love with the restaurant!!
B. L.
Came here for lunch with my friends, food was phenomenal, service was a bit slow, but it was really busy so it's fine. 10/10 would visit again
A. I.
limited evening menu. specialty is brunch and cocktails I think. would like a bit more to taste. nice interior and location. in the heart of the city
s.
I had the goat’s cheese wrap, but it wasn’t great: way too much caramelised onion. It would’ve been tastier with fresh spring onions. Chips were really crispy though and service was friendly and fast.
B. W.
Great food with a lot of variety. A wee bit different. Staff really nice and nice environment too 😊
D. M.
Delicious food. Reasonably priced. Service wasn't great but that wouldn't stop me from going again. Veggie stack and Veggie burger were delicious. So was the cajun chips. Wouldn't go for the pizza chips again.
L.
The place was absolutely lovely and I enjoyed the vibes, decor, and the music playing but overall the food was not what I expected it to be. I had ordered the Croque Monsieur and when it arrived did not seem toasted at all, had very little ham in it and I could barely taste anything aside from the flour in the bechemel sauce. I was very disappointed given the rave reviews, but the staff were absolutely lovely and it might have just been a one off, but I don’t think I’ll be returning anytime soon.
L. f.
Genuinely the nicest iced latte I’ve ever had, they’re usually bitter but this was a bit sweeter but a perfect amount. Also got the chipotle wrap and it was lovely. The vibes was great, seeing the staff having a good time is a fab mood lifter and makes the experience better. Not too badly priced either 10/10
E. G.
Had a great breakfast here. Good and drinks/latte were solid. Presentation was pretty and our server was accommodating to fit us in at a good table at a busy time of day. Thank you!
V. S.
The food is yummy, place is cozy and lovely staff. It is located on north bridge.
C. P.
Delightful place with a super speedy and delicious breakfast :)
G. G.
Service 👍 food 👍 only the hot chocolate could have been less sweet.
V. M.
Lovely food, staff and atmosphere, not too far from Edinburgh Castle worth a visit..try the Scran Fries lol
J. D.
We had a great meal here. The Mexican burger and mac n cheese wrap were great, especially the jam in the Mac n cheese wrap. The chips were nice and crunchy outside but soft inside. The staff was really nice. And the price is surprisingly low for the quality and location.
D. B.
Delicious food and really nice service, a very cosy atmosphere in here. A great selection on the menu
C. M.
Had a great allday breakfast here. Staff friendly and service is quick. Black pudding was very good quality. Great little cafe, will definitely be back again. Pancakes looked so yummy!! If your looking to support local businesses then you must try here!
N. H.
Nice servers and cool location, but below average food. Had a veggie burger and didn't even bother finishing it despite being hungry as it was simply to worth the calories. Bun was dry, fries were bland, and the patty was your disappointing given that nowadays so many places can do amazing veggie burger patties.
s. w.
Delicious food. Extremely quick service. Our server, Katie, was lovely.
T. A.
The breakfast menu felt quite incomplete. The seating area was very cold and the food was ok. I would not recommend this place to anyone for breakfast. Perhaps they are better for lunch or dinner.
E. C.
Lovely food and a very warm atmosphere. Kind service and amazing milkshakes! Without doubt would eat here again.
R. S.
The Breakfast wrap is absolutely stunning. Just wow!
L. H.
We didn’t have long so the waitress was kind enough to let the chef know we didn’t have a lot of time! My friend had the ‘best wrap’ ever- the chipotle chicken and I had a great fry up!! Thankyou so much, we will definitely be visiting again when we’re next In Edinburgh x
M. M.
One of me and my partners go to spots when in Edinburgh.Breakfast and brunch covered with lots of options, staff are nice and service is good considering how busy it always is.well worth a visit.
C. B.
Good food, the waffle sandwich was amazing but I was a little disappointed with the scran stack, the bread was hard to cut through and it was cold. Would definitely go back though to try something else as everything looked delicious :))
M. C. N.
Lovely place for breakfast! Fancy place with great presentation of food and super tasty! Free tapped water automatically. If you are around for breakfast, try this place!
R. H.
The pizza loaded fries were pretty good, could have done with some more cheese! The macaroni was pretty basic and plain but overall eatable! I got takeaway and it didn't take that long for my food to be ready :)
H. V.
Although the staff are friendly the food is not as good as you’d have expected from such place.
They didn’t have the drink on the menu.
And the coffee after all was terrible.
L. J.
Great breakfast with a nice assortment of options!
S. R.
Fantastic Scottish breakfast and soup. Loved the tranquil atmosphere, the service was warm and we got our food quickly! Good portions too. The sweets look amazing but we didn't get a chance to try them.
Highly recommended. Definitely plan on another visit while in town.
E. R.
Had the Scran stack, it was tasty considering the reasonable price. The mimosas were delicious! Lovely terrace and staff.
N. H.
Very Nice food and atmosphere not many tables as the indoor space is quite small but they do have a outdoor area .
J. L.
Really yummy, the only problem I had was trying to decide what to have as everything look so good and it tastes even better, definitely going back.
H. W.
Would so recommend going here! The food is amazing and the portions are huge. 10/10
M. A.
Popped in for a cocktail before our evening meal. Staff were friendly and welcoming and at first glance the decor was modern and well done. The drinks were nice, although the service wasn't quick and they were relatively small portion sizes for the price.
Scran was let down, however, by the upkeep of the toilets. They were appalling, with the only usable cubicle (which didn't have grim looking liquid all over the toilet seat, or it's seat hanging off), had large holes kicked in the door and toilet roll and other rubbish all over the floor. Generally the cleanliness was really poor.
C. W.
Absolutely delicious food and a great cup of coffee - a wonderful way to start the day! The atmosphere in this little joint is first-rate, the service quick, efficient, and friendly, and the prices - by Edinburgh's standards - seem pretty reasonable, all in all.
L. K.
So good we came back the next morning! Really well priced for a morning coffee and a little bite to eat. Highly recommend the nutella hot chocolate (DELICIOUS) and the mocha. Really cool decor and a lovely, cosy vibe.
Also its actually in the arcade, opposite where maps says it is.
M. C.
Really lovely breakfast. Nice staff. They don't do the Government dine out discount scheme.
T. M.
Great food! Highly recommend, very accommodating to allergies (but not vegans) :(
D. T.
Not the best food experience.
Tried the Highlander burger. Not so good. :( patty was not juicy. Maybe ask for medium. I think well done is a default.
Waffle is not soft and crunchy. :(
But milkshake is nice. Size is quite large for kids.
P. C.
Really lovely Pitstop!
Food is really nice, The Camden Pale Ale is lovely here too.
A must visit the locals love!
P. C.
Walked in for a drink and some nibbles and it was definitely a good choice. Really liked their cajun fries and the portion was big.
J.
It was busy when we visited at lunchtime but we seated quickly and served quickly. The food was good and a good size portion.
R. L.
Such good vibes in here: friendly staff, great music, great food (super reasonably priced), the interior decor is great, close to city centre. I highly recommend!
S. M.
Great location, great food and lots of choice. Reasonable prices too.
Lovely ginger beer!
O. L.
Great breakfast, friendly service!
A. T.
The Strawberry Nutella Waffles was delicious & the ham cheese croissant was the best dish to try for a good morning breakfast
A. H.
Service was a little bit slow but the food and drinks made up for it. If you like cocktails, I suggest the Jack Apple Spritz, its amazing. Also, I had the Cheese nachos and my friend had the Mac and Cheese wrap, these were incredible- absolute must haves.
t. n.
Good breakfast with friendly staff 👍
C. M.
Food was great, staff pleasant but the industrial table and chairs made from old gear parts were some of the most uncomfortable, and downright dangerous I’ve sat at. Have a bruised and and cut kneecap after catching on the sharp bolts and cut off gear shafts underneath. Who thought that would be a good idea? HSE nightmare.
L. C.
The food was really good and they were very accommodating for my dietary requirements. Jan was very attentive and friendly and the place was clean and had a good atmosphere. It was also very inexpensive.
L. M.
Waffles were a bit cold unfortunately. Scran stack was nice though. Happily replaces the black pudding with sausage for me
t.
It's a nice hidden cafe. I ordered breakfast roll and coffee which was good.
The gates of arcade are open both side so you can enter to the cafe from ether Cockburn St or North bridge.
L. A.
It’s rare to have food that gets me all emotional. The food looks exactly like on their instagram. Respectfully bussin.
P. F.
Had a full Scottish breakfast and it was outstanding... The haggis and black pudding were fantastic.
Staff were professional and polite.
Prices are very reasonable.
Would recommend and will be visiting this establishment again.
Z. A.
Food nice, service ok, got order wrong but did correct it.
B. W.
Great value simple food, in a quiet arcade off the main Edinburgh tourist streets! Friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere! Also impressed at the cleanliness of the facilities and bar area.
J. W.
We had a nice late evening coffee here after the kitchen was closed (closes 8.30 I think) and enjoyed sitting at the tables in the arcade. It was a nice compromise between inside and outside and suited our pal who is being careful about social distancing ahead of visiting family. Nice drinks and a beautiful surrounding, looking forward to coming back to try the food. Staff v friendly and helpful.
S. R.
A menu with many combinations that could be added further. Wonderful window to watch the world in a superb location. Staff were friendly and polite - well done!
D. M.
The carrot cake is really good. Coffee was above average. Nice and cosy. The light fixture is a bit ropey.
A. C.
Delicious food and milkshakes. The wraps we ordered were enormous!
L. B.
My partner and I were walking past Scran, so we decided to check it out as the place was busy. The food looked nice so we sat down. We were greeted by a very nice friendly guy who gave fantastic customer service!! We ordered milkshakes which were amazing! Food was great, big portions too. We even went back the next day! Would definitely recommend!
B. O.
What a hidden gem this is! Lovely industrial furniture, excellent service nothing too much and what great food. Limited menu but excellent delivery! Surpassed our expectations by far!
O.
The food, coffee and service is amazing. I would highly recommend this place. I would definitely come here again when I visit Edinburgh.
T. D.
Lovely restaurant and wonderful staff. We went into town for the day and failed to book a table in advance anywhere, and they were kind enough to accommodate us. Originally haiking from the states, we are pretty serious about our burgers. My son loved his burger; full of flavor and a good size. The rest of us had the Scran chips box and Buffalo Chicken Chips, and all were delicious. We will definitely be back again.
P. A.
Lovely bistro in a great spot in the old city grounds of Edinburgh. Lovely atmosphere and welcoming friendly and attentive team. Great food, really good burgers and wraps and a very reasonable price. Even a thumbs up from the five year old. Thank you we'll be back.💙
J. T.
Stopped off for a quick lunch while visit Edinburgh! Food was absolutely amazing!
M. W.
We travelled into Edinburgh from Hartlepool after Edinburgh zoo for a walk around and found this little bistro!!
Upon arriving the staff were so welcoming!! They even took the time to talk to our toddler💗 we felt very welcomed and the food was absolutely unreal!!! I would definitely travel back just for food!!
I've never been for food at a place where the staff are so polite! An absolute asset to the company for sure!
This deserves more than 5 stars for sure!!
p. k.
Incredible food, super friendly staff and a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Will definitely be visiting again the next time im in Edinburgh. The Waffles are certainly recommended!
M. B.
Nice atmosphere, long queue but moves quickly, nice staff.
We ordered 2 wraps which were not the best. Mac & cheese was bland lacked seasoning. Salad ordered as a side and it was the same that was used in the wrap.
Waiter to ld us that the chicken is halal but if fried it will be mixed with pork so won't be halal and advised not to order the chips for the same reason.
L. O. T. R.
Best spot in town! The portions come big and the service is outstanding. Thanks guys
N. T.
Have only had takeaway - a number of times. You're not going to get the healthiest food but you'd know that going in. The menu has a lot of different options. The food is delicious. However, based on the type of food, it is on the expensive side.
Food ordered:
Mac & Cheese
Buffalo Chicken Scran Box
Numerous Milkshakes
Sides
R. C.
Staff took names down right away and offered hot chocolate while waiting to be seated. Very friendly and helpful!
N. T. (.
Ordered the brie melt, barely noticed any brie and there wasn't much bacon either. Chips were a bit underdone too. Not massive complaints but for the price it did sting a bit, this place isn't super cheap.
A. P.
The Scran Stack is one of the top 3 breakfasts I've ever had. And I'm 55!
J. J.
Amazing food, huge portions which will fill you up for the rest of the day
S. M.
Score let down by being told we couldn't sit inside when I asked to (I'm a powerchair user and had got cold and wet so wanted to try and warm up). Then when I went to use the bathroom I was disappointed to see two grab rails on the same side (not one on each) and a freestanding changing table in the space a wheelchair user would use to transfer to the toilet. Please invest in a drop down changing table and make this space more accessible.
M. G.
Very good breakfast
E. R.
Took my family to Scran for coffee then lunch and both times were great! The service was friendly and quick and the food was amazing. Thank you Leona for the fabulous, smiley and polite service. I will definitely be coming back!
R. v. D.
Nice place with good food and friendly service. Would have given a 5 but our food was warm, not hot, meaning it had been sitting ready to be served. It was busy but that is no excuse.
H. A.
Large portion, delicious food. Perfect hangover cure!
J. H.
Amazing food for a really good price. Kind staff and good ambience
l.
I've been to Scran twice now and it was fantastic both times. Today I had the Mexican chicken wrap and my boyfriend had one of the chicken boxes. Unbelievably delicious. We didn't have a milkshake but they looked amazing! We'll be back.
L. P.
Myself and my daughter are staying in Edinburgh tonight and got a takeaway from Scran for dinner. Service was great, very fast and the food was delicious and huge portions. We would definitely come again next time we are in the city
j. r.
Lovely food and beautiful setting.
b. m.
Great breakfast, best in Edinburgh!
B. R.
Amazing service and tasty breakfast! The salmon bagel is a must here and yes, it comes with chips 🍟😬
R. T.
Just brilliant we went when it was absolutely rammed and it was still pretty quick the food especially came really fast and cappuccino was perfect 🥰 we had the breakfast stacks and the waffles all were great, well done and well done staff for coping under pressure!
T. M.
Nice food and good service. Bit disappointed in toilets they were quite dirty (not a good impression for state of kitchen, people judge by this!)😫
M. A.
Lovely food, lovely cocktails , nice service, it is on the expensive side though, which is the only reason we won't go back. Still the quality was 5 star
S. Y.
Make sure you go with an empty stomach. Big portions and very tasty!
B. H.
Slightly confusing in that the Scran you enter from North Street has a completely different menu from the Scran you access from Cockburn Street. If you are looking for Burgers and Wraps then go to the one off Cockburn Street. Good food although the service was a little slow but no doubt there are Covid staffing issues. The milk shakes are amazing. Will visit again.
M. Z.
Nice atmosphere. Great for tea time and to chill
J. C.
Great food with a good variety and plenty of specials! The staff were really friendly and accommodating, and the place had a lovely atmosphere. The interior feels like a cross between a cafe and bar making it perfect for any occasion.
A. M.
Great spot for lunch. The burgers were big and tasty, staff were friendly and the venue has a nice feel to it, well decorated. The milkshakes looked amazing too, will get one next time!
J. G.
Food was ok, but half their menu was unavailable and what we ordered took ages to arrive (lunchtime). We were sat in a draughty corridor and the food got cold quickly. Flat White was terrible.
D. T.
First and foremost, I can tell you - with no doubt in my heart - THIS IS A CAFE. Don't let a government stooge tell you otherwise.
I stopped in for a bite during The Great Lockdown of 2020, and it was a great experience. The food was amazing, the coffee was perfect, and the whole staff engaged this lonely traveler in fun, pleasant conversation. I went out of my way to go back the next day, and I highly recommend you drop in and do the same when in Edinburgh.
A. B.
Great breakfast and coffee to start the day. Had the amazing Scottish breakfast and my wife had the veggie. Both superb.
C. J.
Best breakfast.. Nice surroundings.. very busy.. come early!
E. P.
Wow, a place that’s delicious, affordable and does breakfast all day! We got the Scottish breakfast, veggie breakfast and smashed avo with bacon. All amazing!! This was the third time I’ve tried haggis and now I understand why people like it - here, it’s tasty! Our table faced the cakes, which meant we gave into temptation and got the lemon loaf and the raspberry muffin, and both were out of this world! Every item, coffee included, was truly exceptional! We’re already planning to come back in the afternoon :)
A. M.
Lovely and cozy place. We enjoyed our coffee break there.
A. G.
Scran a great place for a visit lost og great dishes and cocktails to boot some for everyone milkshake of all types through ur chocolate delight and the meals are a great portion and good value get there soon u will enjoy the place for sure
R. R.
An amazing place to eat! The food was absolutely delicious, has great vegetarian options, the portions a good and the price is very reasonable. The staff is friendly and the service as quick. If you looking for place to have lunch or breakfast, do visit them.
L. O.
Super nice place with great food and lovely staff!
S.
Good food and lovely staff , can't fault it!
R. A.
Good food , great location and helpful, friendly staff
A. P.
Service was slow but understandable due to how busy it was. Food was absolutely fantastic, portion sizes were large and venue is beautiful in terms of interior and location.
H. P.
Lovely cosy cafe, friendly staff, great food and smoothies!
C. M.
Great food, drink, atmosphere and location! Had a very pleasant lunch outside in one of their covered booths.
C. “. C.
Love the loaded scran boxes, food amazing and not too expensive
R. D.
A very popular cafe/restaurant, great service, great food and relaxing atmosphere.
R. S.
Loved it here. Had the Scran stack and a full breakfast both were amazing and staff were super friendly and welcoming
E. B.
My husband and I had an amazing breakfast here while visiting Edinburgh. Service was great. Staff were friendly. We would definitely come back when next in Edinburgh.
O. C.
Fairly low quality breakfast. Staff were nice, but food (bacon, eggs etc) felt like it had been sitting around for a while.
A. H.
Food was flawless, as were the staff! Would come back again in a heartbeat.
A. R.
Great service especially as both of us have food allergies etc thank you
c. w.
Great friendly service. Nice food. Huge portions.
K.
Just came back from holiday and needed my British brunch. This place filled that hole nicely. Staff were friendly, place was pretty full but everyone was still somehow pretty quiet (a sign of good food) will definitely come back the next time I'm in town. And will highly recommend.
Hopefully see you there! :)
C. G.
Great spot for breakfast which is served all day! Excellent coffees and cakes also . Staff very friendly and helpful. Amazing choices of main courses too at ressonable prices. There is also a wide selection of whiskey on offer to try. Will 100% be returning and bringing friends!
L. S.
Great all day breakfast
C. M.
Nice friendly service and cool location. Ordered the Veggie stack which was off the scale tasty.
D. E.
Great food , friendly staff and fast service
L. B.
What a great little find hidden in an arcade. Had a lovely homemade soup and sandwich at lunchtime and so happy to find somewhere that catered for my coeliac friend. We went back later that day and there was live music. All staff lovely and would definitely recommend this lovely little bistro great food and a lovely atmosphere.
C. G.
Go for the Scottish breakfast, honestly so good. The milkshakes are also worth trying, incredible flavours.
S. W.
Went for breakfast and food was good quality and very reasonably priced
F. M.
Pleasantly surprised! Fantastic space, reasonable prices, friendly and capable staff -a real hidden gem. Can't wait to head back for a drink and try out more of the menu!
T. R.
Unbelievably good food and coffee. I always try to find and buy local rather then go to the usual generic, chain cafes and this place is justification as to why. They are killing it! First thing through the door, we received a warm welcome with table service and food and coffee was fast! Absolutely love this place and will definitely be returning again when up this way!
J. W.
My favourite foodie find in the whole of Scotland! The food was fantastic and very reasonably priced. We had the burgers, the French toast and eggs Benedict and all were delicious. Staff were super friendly, and the store is wheelchair accessible - even the toilet. So extra points for that! They also have live music and kareoke on set nights which we sadly missed due to a short stay. Despite only two days in Edinburg we made sure to visit Scran a couple of times.
Note the location on google maps is incorrect, it’s actually just off the main road just up from Boots in a little alley.
N. M.
Superb food. We've been twice during our trip to Edinburgh. Wonderful staff. Very friendly and polite. The milkshakes are amazing!
T. A.
Had one or two drinks here back at the start of the summer. Awesome venue with a great atmosphere and service!
J. R.
Nice bar with outdoor seating. Lovely on a sunny day. Good selection of drinks and serve a nice aperol spritz.
N. E.
Fantastic brunch spot in the heart of Edinburgh, really big portions for a reasonable price and super friendly staff.
S. C.
Loved it. Good filling food to fuel walking the city.
R. K.
My first visit to this cafe and it's great. Service was quick and friendly- and my soup was hot and tasty, just what I needed. I love the interior, which is cosy and quirky. I'll certainly be back soon.
A. B.
Lovely experience here! Great for brunch! Customer service, food selection, timing, all of it was just perfect.
J. R.
Really great wraps! I had the Chicken Pesto, really delicious and the wraps were packed full! Great value for money
B.
A fantastic place to eat. Great food, excellent service & atmosphere. Recommended.
r. c.
Was looking forward to trying here but starting with the loud mouth server it didn't go that well. Slow service, average food and the fact we had to ask for utensils and condiments. Not the best.
D. B.
Absolutely wonderful place to go out for dinner! Chucked away in a little shopping alley, it's a true hidden gem right in the centre of Edinburgh! The price/quality of the food and drinks is superb! Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxed place that's not crowded like the other more touristy restaurants
C. F.
Located centrally, this lovely little cafe is hidden away in the arcade. The service was very fast and the staff very friendly. I highly recommend the french toast and the full english breakfast as they were fantastic.
J. A.
Great prices, generous portions, good food and friendly staff. Will definitely be going back again for more grub!
J. T.
Cosy café tucked away in the North Bridge arcade. Easy to miss but well worth a visit, as offers delicious food for a reasonable price. Portions were generous and our bagels had loads of salmon in. Interior is quirky and there’s also a mezzanine with additional seating. We loved the 80s soundtrack too! Would definitely recommend for breakfast or lunch.
P. C.
Wow. Amazing place. The food was delicious, first class. good 🍷🍻. Really friendly atmosphere. Definitely recommend this place.
Z. B.
Loved it here, very relaxed. We had bagels and Bellinis and they were fab. Thanks!
P. R.
Great wee place, an super central for castle and other attractions. Food was tasty, falafel panini was dry (they did offer a sauce when presented, I declined). Little bit of the side salad helped give it moisture. Friendly staff, I'd go again. 🙂
S. W.
Food was scrumptious... a hidden gem :-)
J. N.
Lovely staff, food and atmosphere. Would absolutely recommend. My children had the banana Nutella pancakes which were insanely good!
A. D.
Was so impressed with our visit and the amazing service from Vickey. Food was so tasty and the deco really nice. We will definitely be back.
k. g.
Newly opened bistro, been coming here for a week now and they have a wide range of breakfast and main courses. The food here is amazing and all at good prices. They have a wide range of spirits and whiskey. 100% the new spot in town

Food great, service quick and very friendly, and affordable prices (although we did not have alcohol)
H. D.
Went with my 13yr old vegetarian daughter, nothing was too much trouble, there wasn't a great choice for her but they made a bagel of her choosing up. Everything was fresh and delicious, impeccably clean, staff lovely and great value for money
C. S.
Was absolutely brilliant. Friendly and helpful staff, nothing was too much. Food was excellent. Highly recommended 5*
i. b.
Nice place and staff. Limited choice of food. Especially when you have a baby. Prices are average.
A. H.

M. D.
Had a breakfast wrap which was great but the chips that came with it had been salted it should be up to the diner to put salt on if they wish apart from that it was good value
S. v. d. M.
Okay food & service. Charged me an extra 50p for a sauce that was supposed to come with the dish (as described on the menu).
D. C.
Absolutely unreal breakfast wrap had today, and great portions, I couldn't even finish it which is unheard of! Lovely place and lovely staff will be back 😀
K. W.
Nice quiet bistro. Great tea. Had fish and chips and it was nice. Reasonable prices too, great service. Nice to get away from he hustle and bustle of the city. Great little accidental find!
S. G.
Absolutely LOVE this little bistro... what a find... it's tucked away in a little shopping arcade and unless you know it's there you wouldn't see it... Brilliant food and drink, lovely relaxed atmosphere, great surroundings and friendly staff... one of my top 5 favourite places in Edinburgh... would highly recommend to anyone, whether it's for coffee, meals drinks or any thing inbetween I would definitely go here!
M. S.
Delicious food. Lovely venue. It was busy - but didn't affect service or space. Great for families.
P. S.
We pass a lovely moment with Anita !
t. c.
Food was great, pity it was served by a bloke who was stinking of body odour, not good enough for a Food establishment.
P. W.
Lovely lunch. Helpful friendly staff and good value.
M. F.
Good but when i ordered my beans there was no sauce with them, somthing ive never experienced before. There was also a man smoking a joint next to me (very unpleasant)
J. M.
Loverly little spot off the beaten path. Really friendly service, food is great value. The pancakes I had were a little underwhelming though. Would go again to try something else.
M. d. C.
Wonderful coffee and a full Scottish breakfast cooked to perfection. The decor is cosy and it is a little hidden gem so quiet too.
A. M.

I. P.

T. H. J.
Good food nice cosy seating area and the milkshakes are fantastic!
C.
Read the menu folks, someone snuck some guacamole into my coronation chicken wrap and just about ruined my day. Good chips.
B. B.
Nice place and food, but they were busy and quite slow serving drinks and food (outside, after 8PM with cov regulations)
A. K.
