Reviews of Tattu Edinburgh

Amazing food, drinks and service! Came for an early valentines meal, left feeling incredibly satisfied. Staff were so lovely especially our server Jackie who was so super welcoming and great explaining the menu for us first timers! When we come again we'd love to have her as our server again!

Recommended to come here as we were in Edinburgh for the weekend. Food is visually very creative and exciting. Food was cooked very well and packed with flavour. An expensive restaurant but has lots of flair. Would recommend for a special occasion or if you're a big foodie!

This restaurant offers contemporary Chinese cuisine, fusing traditional flavors with modern cooking methods and beautiful presentation.
The place itself is well decorated and very pleasant to stay. And the staff is very attentive as well.
I went there to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday and she loved it.
On the downside, we found the cocktails (PEEP SHOW BELLINI, TIGER LILY and GEISHA’S SECRET) and the deserts (WHITE CHOCOLATE DRAGON EGG and CHERRY BLOSSOM) although very well made and with an elegant presentation they were way too sweet for our taste. And because of that we couldn't even finish them.

Incredible meal here last night. Food was spectacular….the beef and caramel soy, sweet potato and tiger dessert were a highlight. Our waiter, Aaron G, made our experience even more enjoyable…knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. Looking forward to coming back!

Fantastic experience from start to finish. The food and cocktails were outstanding and our waiter Sam went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed every second of our visit. We will definitely be back!

An experience I won't forget, from start to finish. I was blown away by the decor, the staff and of course the food. I was a bit cautious at first with this being a small chain restaurant (more than one) however I was drastically surprised with how my experience went. Our waitress (Alba) was exceptional as well and truly made my experience much better. I thoroughly recommend here.
J. S.
This is by far one of the best restaurants in Edinburgh. Sammy was our waitress and she was absolutely amazing, she really took time to help navigate the menu and made some excellent recommendations. The food was absolutely out of this world and really top quality, overall this was an amazing experience.
A. E. F.
Absolutely fantastic. Cannot express how satisfied and how amazing the food was. The meat just melted in your mouth. The drinks were absolutely heaven and the desserts were just another level compared to any other restaurants

I have no words to describe my birthday lunch in Tattu, We had the 2 for share meal, all the dishes were gorgeous and the staff were so nice and friendly, our waitress was Jackie, it was a pleasure to have her as a waitress she was very knowledgeable about the food and wine and nice, also Aurelia helped us and recommend to try the Sake that was delicious. I would definitely, come back here.

A lovely looking restaurant interior and a nice buzz about the place. Music maybe a little too loud for while eating dinner as we did have to shout a bit to be heard. Very helpful waiting staff who explained the menu well and were careful to advise one of our party about the menu regarding a food allergy. Their recommendations for how much food to order was perfect. Food itself is good but maybe not as good as the price would suggest in my opinion. Starters of tuna and chicken truffle dumplings and main of monkfish were excellent but the sweet and sour pork and fillet steak mains more average. Overall everyone enjoyed the meal and the experience.

An amazing experience. Food, cocktails and service was incredible. Micheal was our server and he gave us great recommendations. It was my boyfriend’s birthday and we had an outstanding evening.
S. F.
Great cocktails. The food was an experience in itself. Theatrical and delicious. I ate a sweet bonsai tree. The staff couldn't have been nicer. Beautiful restaurant covered in blossom and lanterns. We even got a suprise firework and cookie display from the staff for our anniversary.

Came here with a last minute reservation on Valentines day and our server Davy was absolutely phenomenal! Literally the only issue I have with our booking was the prices 😅 for what we got it was just a bit overpriced in my opinion. Presentation was lovely but the food itself could have used a little more finessing to make it worth the price and the cocktails were far too sweet for my taste. Even the house negroni had way more sugar in it than I’m used to. Nitpicking aside, we genuinely had a lovely time here and it was a perfect Valentines treat and a great experience to have had! Would come back 100% purely to be served by Davy again 😂

One of the nicest interiors I've experienced in a restaurant. The visuals really are something else. Carolina was our waitress, she was absolutely fantastic, attending to all our needs, explaining the process and also recommending some dishes. The food overall was good. We had pork belly (our favourite dish) this was truly amazing taste, the CRUNCH. Chicken Shumai (open top dumpling), which was good. Chinese barbecued chicken which was my second favourite after the pork belly. Also Singapore noodles served with chicken, pork and prawns again tasteful. The slight disappointment was the sticky beef short ribs. The sauce was nice, but the ribs where a bit chewy, once you'd pretty much chewed threw the sauce there isn't much of a flavour to the ribs.

First time being at this restaurant and it was fantastic. Going into a place like this is quite intimidating, i didn't have a clue what to get and I'm a really fussy eater, so i was quite panicked. The waiter recommended a few dishes that he felt id like, and he was spot on. I had the Wagyu steak with a few sharing platters, the steak was perfectly cooked and literally melted in my mouth. Desserts, cocktails and Dom pérignon just topped it off.
Really enjoyed my birthday at tattu, thoroughly recommend everyone try this place.

Awesome restaurant with great food and service. The atmosphere and restaurant decoration is really nice and welcoming, so is the service. The food is well cooked and packed with flavours - price is a bit expensive but worth the money.
P. A.
A beautiful experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious, the duck being the best we have ever tasted, excellent cocktails. Our waiter, Davie was absolutely brilliant, very friendly, engaging and knowledgeable about the restaurant and the food. We wouldn’t hesitate to return.
F.
The most fancy and beautiful restaurant in Edinburgh. The staff are amazing. Food is so good. I highly recommend it for special occasions ❤️🔥

Amazing food and great service. The truffle wagyu so good, truffle chicken wonton so good, sashimi so good, drinks so good. Water so pure like-a the clearest stream on mount Fuji, glasses shine like the most precious jadestone. Arigatou gozaimashita! ᘳ⇀‿↼ᘰ

Gorgeous interior and the drinks are unbeatable. Wish there was more vegan options. The vegetarian chicken can be made vegan which tastes great! The sweet potatoes were amazing but waaay too salty which is easy to fix I guess

I can not describe how good This restaurant actually is, hand on my heart one of my favourite restaurants I have visited. You may see this restaurant making its presence known on TiK Tok and I can clarify it defo lives up to the hype. The restaurant it’s self is beautiful, the decor is elegant and classy with the booths giving you your own privacy and are able to actually chat without others listening in. The food OMG drooling even thinking about it, wok fired angry bird (hot chicken) is delicious literally just melts in your mouth. Can see why it’s a favourite on the menu highly recommend. The chicken truffle Shumai as a starter was also divine like a fancy dumpling style dish. Now let me talk about the desserts the cherry blossom which tbh I wanted really just for the video and the picture was one of my favourite desserts. Such a unique plate could actually go it right now tbh! Also tried the passion fruit egg dessert very fruity and it has a strong passion fruit taste so if you ain’t too keen on passion fruit maybe give it a miss but I do highly recommend. Also with myself being a bit of a pig tried out the fried banana with the caramel sauce oh my days outstanding.
Along with the food the service was 10/10 literally can not fault the waitress was amazing from her tips on what to eat and going through the menu. She also gave us free shots of tequila to celebrate the occasion ( I mean I wish she had chosen another choice of shot) would have been rude to decline. We were also given one of the desserts for free due to a mix up in the ordering.
Zero complaints for this place !! I’ll be back ASAP
R.
Sam provided us with outstanding service. He was informative yet charming. Very pleased considering how busy the restaurant was. I’d recommend the restaurant for more of an experience or celebration. I will definitely be back!

What a fantastic evening dinner we had at Tattoo in Edinburgh! The ambience was super cool. Roxie, was the very nice hostess who showed us to our table. She was very warm and friendly. Then our waiter Ben provided expert service, explaining the food and drinks we were considering. Ben made sure we were all taken care of the whole night. And several other members of the team were also helping all over the restaurant to include the evening manager. That was great to see a whole team working together to ensure their customers have the best experience. Then the food which was absolutely amazing. Every course was delicious and full of flavour. Going t Tattoo in Edinburgh was the best dining experience I have had in the UK in a very long time. Thanks Ben!!
S. P.
Staff are so friendly, food is amazing & decor simply beautiful. We had a really memorable birthday dinner here - it was perfect. Shoutout to our waiter for being so kind & attentive throughout the evening!

My partner and I went for dinner to celebrate my birthday. It was our first time at Tattu. The whole dinner has been awesome. From the hosts to our waitress Jackie we’ve received an outstanding service. Great attention to details and they made us feel special. The food was spectacular, extremely tasty and beautifully presented, and with the great help of Jackie, who has taken the time to go through the menu with us and made brilliant suggestions everything has been great. Thank you!

Booked here for my partners birthday.
Been to a couple of Tattu restaurants and they never fail to deliver.
The staff are all professional and super friendly. Our waitress Sarah was especially attentive, helpful and warm.
The waiting area is in the entrance area sectioned off from dining, unfortunately due to current pandemic restrictions we were unable to perchance a drink while we wait and the check in (as efficient as it is) was a bit of a faf with both our details taken, however the body temp scanner was the most sophisticated I've seen yet.
The interior is classy, with their standard cherry blossom decorations (more in this place than I have seen yet) the lighting was warm/dark with lit candles on each table. (the draws on wall do not open lol)
I do struggle with my dietary requirements due to being allergic to items not commonly on list. So I did struggle to find items on the menu... However they were very accommodating and I ended up with a larger starter dish that was delicious. My partner enjoyed the wagyu main.
I really like their skull candy cocktail and would highly recommend if you like the sweet flavour of lychee (see photos)
The lavatorys are a single locked cubicle with wash basin & large mirrors, that gives you the level of privacy to reapply makeup and check outfit that the majority of establishments don't provide.
If you like this style of food and can afford the prices I would 100% recommend. We will definitely be dining back here when we are up in Edinburgh again.

What an awesome place! I really enjoyed my Saturday night. The staff was so kind and always willing to give details with regards to menu. All beef dishes were outstanding. A must go place for anyone visiting Edinburgh.

From the moment we walked through the door until the moment we left full and satisfied, Tattu dining was a LOVELY experience! The staff are very friendly, warm and attentive. From the hostess to our very kind and knowledgeable waitress Katrina, we were treated like important guests. The sharing platters were flavourful and adequately portion sized. We never had to call staff over for anything because we were consistently checked on throughout our dining experience. Kat was attentive, warm, kind and genuinely lovely. She is a credit to your business! Several staff came over to bring food or check on how our meal was going for us. We felt very welcome and greatly catered to. I will highly recommend this gorgeous restaurant and look forward to returning again. THANK YOU!!!

Oh my goodness, what a place. And what food. A wonderful, professional, courteous and funny welcome from Aiden we were ushered to our table set in wow-factor artwork and ambience.
I could go on about the food, but suffice to say it was absolutely perfect.
If is sounding good so far, it only gets better. We were served by Alba, originally from Spain, she absolutely stole the show. Hugely attentive, excellent explanation of the menu and choices, and totally compelling. Nothing was too much trouble. Quite simply the best service any of us have ever experienced.
The icing on the cake, I don't remember there being any dreaded piped music. It might have been there, but if so, it was suitably quiet; the next-best thing to being not there at all.
YOU MUST GO. Awesome.
K. A.
Excellent food, lovely drinks and fantastic service!
Mikey, our server, was very welcoming and had brilliant knowledge of the menu, and was able to provide great recommendations (all of which we went for and were not disappointed by!).
We could not fault any of the dishes we had, portion sizes were great and every dish was full of flavour and presented beautifully.
The decor was stunning which added to the overall experience. We will definitely be returning to Tattu when we next visit Edinburgh.
C. G.
There are no words to express how good the food is here, honestly there aren’t. The menu might seem overpriced at first, but it’s worth every penny, definitely recommend the set menu number two. Shout out to Karolina for an excellent customer service.
S. M.
Food is out of this world. Every single bite from start to finish was amazing. Staff are so friendly, warm and attentive but NOT over bearing. It was on the more expensive side but honestly worth every penny. The cocktails are fantastic also.

Me and my boyfriend went to Tattu in Edinburgh for our anniversary and had a fabulous experience. Our waitress Jackie was fantastic, very informative and welcoming - making sure everything was alright. Our food was fantastic too - we had a sharing menu and felt full at the end. Really good cocktails too. Would definitely recommend and will be back😊

Really all we can say is Excellent in all areas. The staff were friendly, the food was the best Asian food we've eaten, the interior was gorgeous. The low height single chair left me with slight stiffness but I suspect that's due to my age and not the chair.. we thoroughly enjoyed the cocktails and the experience. We have already recommended to family and friends and I don't doubt we will be be back when next we visit Edinburgh.

First of all, the decor in this place is brilliant. It does really feel special sitting there, so props for that.
Service was exceptional. All the staff who interacted with us were very friendly, and we didn't feel like we waited long for anything. They were also provided us with an allergen menu so that we could avoid what we needed to which is always appreciated.
As for the meal, we had heard good things about the drinks here, and we weren't disappointed. The menu had some really good looking cocktails on it, and the few that we tried were all great. Prices were above average when compared with some other bars in the area, but I think you're partly paying for the experience of being in the restaurant as well. Not eye-wateringly expensive anyhow.
As for the food, pretty much everything was good. The shortrib and pork belly were delicious, and the duck was very nice too. We didn't much care for the foie gras in the war tip but that's just personal preference I suppose.
As for the whole experience, we definitely enjoyed it but I don't think it's something we'd come back to. For us, Chinese food is casual and focused on serving inexpensive but delicious food, with little regard for any frills or decoration. So if you're just looking for good, authentic Asian cooking, then I suggest trying to find something a little cheaper. But if you're looking to impress someone, then dress up fancy, enjoy the fantastic interior, and splash out on some food and drinks. You won't be disappointed.

I brought my boyfriend to Tattu for his birthday and he loved it… We both did!
We ordered at least six different dishes and couldn’t say what is my favourite yet, everything was really delicious and tasty.
They bring to you the plates as soon as they ready and everything is to share, which is a really good idea.
The service was amazing also! This guy (Aaron G) made us feel comfortable for the entire dinner, he made us laugh and he explained to us every single plates that he served to us. One of the best service I’ve ever had in a restaurant.
Will come back for sure!!!
D. W.
Absolutely delicious meal and exceptional service from all the staff. The caramel soy beef fillet is out of this world and the deserts are fantastic. Cocktails are wonderful as well. Couldn’t recommend highly enough; just make sure you book in advance so as to avoid disappointment as it’s very busy.
J. S.
First off, the food was great. Short rib & Aubergine starters very good, intense flavors. Mains monkfish and sea bass, delicately steamed, very tender. Desserts rich & decadent. Negroni an interesting variety to the standard.
Why 3 stars then? The service is not up to the considerable price point (plus the mandatory 10% service charge).
Came on time, table not ready. No problem, wait at the hostess area, have a drink. Problem was, after getting drink menus nobody came to take our order.
Forgot one of the starters, brought out later. Forgot one of the main sides, brought out later. Both were taken off our bill, which was nice, unfortunately the slow and inconsistent service diminished the dining experience. It felt like the service team fell apart towards the end of the evening, various waiters came and went. 10% default service charge (as this is unusual for Scotland) could be mentioned more prominently on the menu and sadly was not deserved on this Monday evening.
E. P.
We had such a wonderful night here! Delicious food, wonderful cocktails and amazing friendly staff. The Décor is gorgeous! I can't recommend this place enough. The barbecue chicken and the sticky ribs were exceptional! Thank you so much
D. G.
Beautiful, flavoursome food; exquisitely presented and served by polite, attentive staff; all in a calming, and impressive atmosphere.
An absolute MUST visit, if you're in Edinburgh.
T. G.
Loved this place. It's absolutely gorgeous inside. Staff very friendly and helpful. Went for cocktails. I had a crouching tiger and it was great. Gin based cocktail. Lots of other choices to choose from. Food menu looked amazing.
W. S.
Wow! Fantastic food served in an equally fantastic setting by very helpful and attentive hosts.
R. S.
Wow!! We chose one of the taster menus (as advised by our server) and we were SO glad that we did! It was the best meal that we have ever experienced. Every dish was full of flavour, as was the sake! All staff were extremely friendly and sociable, but I must mention our server Ollie, who made our experience 5*. We were not the only table that he was serving and yet, he made us feel as though we were. Thank you Ollie and team!
K. _.
Excellent service and food! Went with my family for my birthday and it definitely made my 21st that much more special. It was on the pricier side but you definitely get what you pay for. They have a couple of vegan options which were incredible as well. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion.
C. B.
Excellent place for drinks and food, cannot fault service. Staff very happy to recommend which pays off!
S. S.
Stunning meal in a gorgeous setting with super upbeat and funky vibes for a Saturday. The food really was outstanding in both taste and presentation and the waiting staff very friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back. Just minutes from the train station so perfect location also.
L. P.
We visited tattu last night for a birthday meal and were wowed from start to finish. We opted for the tasting menu and every single dish was exquisite. Jackie served us and couldn’t have been more attentive and to top it all off we had some absolutely delicious cocktails. I would highly, highly recommend here if you want a special night
J. B.
The decor in this restaurant is lovely, fantastic cocktails, great place to go with a group of people. The food is all presented in the middle of the table to share, buffet style. If you have any issues about others touching your food this is not the place for you.
S. S.
Went there on my husband birthday and it was awesome. Loved the szechuan rock shrimp so much that we ordered it again. Will definitely visit again
A. P.
Was everything delicious, ambient impeccable and Kátia was speechless, one of the best waitress I’ve ever seen, 100% profissional and with knowledge. Well done 👏🏻
M. C.
Very nice modern Chinese restaurant. Great environment. Surprising food experience!
C. E.
Food was fantastic, serving member of staff was very friendly and informative, great cocktails.
This visit was completely spoiled by the fact the tables were too close together. People sat at tables either side within touching distance, could hear every word of each other’s conversation.
Given the pandemic we have experienced and still taking precautionary measures, very poor from this establishment.
M. S.
We had fun at Tattu! The dishes were prepared well. I really like the aubergine with hoisin dip. Unfortunately, the other dishes we had lacked flavor. There was no “wow” factor that’s why the 4 stars. But the dessert saved it! 😌
K. Y.
Gorgeous tastey food, we went for sharing experience. Attentive staff eating in very floral surroundings. The loos are stunning, will be back 😍
G. P.
Had a meal here with colleagues this evening and it was fantastic, as usual. The food and service were great. Ben was a delight, he took great care of us, made some fantastic suggestions for food and generally was very attentive and good fun, can’t ask for more from a waiter and it definitely added to our great evening.
C. M.
Have been multiple times now and have had a great time each time. The food is brilliant, with a great variety and enjoyable emphasis on presentation. Drinks are great too, with equal emphasis on presentation. Service is always spot on and delivered in a lovely setting to top it off.
I. H.
Had a great experience here. Very vibrant
place with a great atmosphere. Kate, our waitress, was absolutely amazing. She made the evening even more special. All the staff have been trained well and met and exceeded our expectations. Food is a little pricey and would opt more for small plates next time and aim more for an Asian tapas.
Thanks Kate for making our 5th anniversary special!!!!
S. C.
My husband took me to Tattu for my birthday and we had a delightful experience. The ambiance, service, and meal were all top notch. Our server, Kira, was very knowledgeable about the menu and suggested cocktail and wine pairings for our selections. It was truly a meal to remember!
A.
Staff are great here and the food is very tasty. Definitely had a great anniversary meal here also received a few extra treats for celebrating our special occasion 😀
M. K.
Fantastic place with great service. Food was really delicious and melting in our mouths no matter what it was.
J. H.
The service was really nice, really good experience, the food, we was feeling welcome. Only 4 stars because of the quantity. We was still a bit hungry when we get out after pay 60£per person . I think for that price you should be full after a restaurant
A.
First visit to Tattu and wasn’t disappointed. Great atmosphere, lovely decor and swift service.
Food was great, highly recommended the pork belly and the beef tips.
It is really expensive, but you do get what you pay for.
I will be back.
A. E.
Amazing food would recommend one of the set menus as they give u a big variety also amazing service and the waitress catriona was “very exceptional”
l. W.
Had the best time at Tattu last Friday. The whole experience was brilliant...the setting, the servers, the drinks and, of course, the amazing food. The best restaurant experience I've ever had. Also, big shout to our lovely server Ben. Top place. Thank you!!
G. M.
Gorgeous place, a wonderful experience, food that is a feast for the eyes and just a feast.....have the lobster and prawn toast and the cherry blossom tree for dessert and you won't be disappointed 😋
R. S.
This was such a memorable experience for our anniversary dinner. Everything from the environment to the delicious food to the service was spot on. We were served by Alba who was a pleasure to meet and whose service was second to none!
So worth it and would go back again.
K. L.
Food was amazing! Managed to satisfy the extremely fussy 16 year old with us, which is exactly what you want. Our server, Lewis, was really nice and attentive, always checking in on us which was nice as well! Totally recommend!
D. D. M.
Great experience for my sister's birthday. The price is high, but it's worth it!
C. M.
Best meal I've had in a long time! Thought it would be like a up scale Chinese, how wrong was I! More like Asian inspired Morden food. Flavours are amazing, everything we chose was so good we will be back to try more of the menu. Quite similar to a tapas, best to order a few things and share. Everything comes out as its ready rather than one at a time. Highly recommend the pok belly and beef short rib small plates. Cocktails are delicious, very instagramable, same with the gorgeous interior. Staff very friendly. Extremely good food and service for being a what I would call a chain restaurant.
S. P.
Not your usual Chinese. A rather catholic Oriental menu, extending beyond the Sino-centric, and with nuanced twists on regular Chinese cuisine. Eg crispy duck is crispy duck, but not as you know it.
Exquisite interior decor.
Z. I.
Really lovely for a special occasion, all food was beautifully presented. Short rib was a bit of a disappointment, but otherwise food was superb.
T. G.
As first timers in Edinburgh we didn't think to book table ahead anywhere so we were struggling to find any restaurant and we got to Tattu by accident. We were welcomed in by a really friendly front of house. We did not have to wait long to be seated. Our waitress was kind, chatty and went above and beyond to make it a truly memorable dining experience. The food was delicious the highlight of our stay. We would thoroughly recommend dining at Tattu if you are looking for a fine dining experience.
N. S.
The starter and drink was ok. But the main was sooo salty. I think they added to much soya sauce or some form of salt. We told the waiter but she said it’s meant to be salty because of the sauce. But this was way to salty. I love salt but we could not eat it. Even with rice. I think they made a mistake but still it ruined the night. I couldn’t get the taste out. Desert was beautiful but it didn’t taste that good. Everything looked good but didn’t taste like well. The service was amazing though. Shame about the food.
D. Y.
Had a fantastic meal and a fantastic night. Didn’t get sat at our table till 30 mins after our booking time. However. Complimentary drinks of our choice were provided on the house while we waited. Lewis our server was a lovely and very helpful you man with a great knowledge of both the food and drinks menu and was very attentive through the course of our stay. The food was fantastic and struck my pallet in a way that left me wanting more. “If only I wasn’t full”. I’d most definitely return to this restaurant and do it all over again. Also recommend the cherry blossom dessert not only is it a delight to eat but it’s a feast for the eyes and a great opportunity for a little instagram video with the dry ice flowing all over your table once served. 10/10. Thank you for a great night.
F. M.
Zingy atmosphere. Interesting but the lunchtime menu severing sizes are small. It was tasty but you'll need a top up somewhere else.
If you don't care about but tradition or expense give it a go.
l. b.
We had an amazing time at tattu. The food was to die for. Our server Lewis was so friendly and attentive and helped us with recommendations on drinks and food which were spot on. The Chinese bbq chicken was our absolute favourite. We were out celebrating getting married and to top the experience off, a surprise was sent to the table to congratulate us which was such a thoughtful touch. Keep doing what you do. We will definitely be back!
J. N.
Excellent food & fantastic service, Absolutely loved our first experience at Tattu, and we will definitely be back, still drooling over the pork belly it was divine..
N. G.
Amazing time for my 30th birthday. Sam our server was fantastic, super helpful and really friendly :) Food was delicious and the restaurant is beautiful.
B. M.
Absolutely fantastic! Amazing atmosphere, incredible food, and attentive-yet-relaxed service. Only loses a star due to being overpriced (in my humble opinion), and automtically including gratuity. Otherwise, pretty flawless
S. T.
I've been lucky enough to visit all of tattu sites, but the Edinburgh one is by far my favourite, great atmosphere, food and service as always. Edinburgh venue is a little more intermit than the others, and we were very well looked after by the team.
Keep up the good work and I'll be back soon.
J. W.
Everything was amazing. From the decor and service to the food
G. P.
An excellent restaurant. A lovely setting, with a real wow factor. Delicious food, quite different from other restaurants serving Asian cuisine. Interesting drink options. Not cheap but worth it. Very efficient and friendly staff.
S.
Lovely restaurant with delicious food and romantic ambiance. The red pork belly skewers and char siu monkfish were flavourful. Espresso martini and cherry blossom dessert are also highly recommended! Service was warm and welcoming.
J. C.
Absolutely gorgeous place to eat. Food was served quickly and was delicious. The wok fired angry bird was exquisite. The Chinese bbq chicken was sublime. Our server Aaron couldn't do enough for us. Would definitely recommend you visit Tattu.

I was taken here as belated birthday rest by my sister and it was AMAZING!!! The food was stunning and delicious, the service was excellent and the restaurant itself is beautiful. They had implemented a one way system so entered in one door and left by another and all staff were wearing masks. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion. It is pricey but it is well worth it. Compliments to the chefs and staff!!

Fantastic set menu meal. Loved every course. The interior is sublime. We had a lovely evening. Staff very attentive and friendly too.

Gorgeous food and beautiful surroundings.Staff lovely and tentative.Aaron was our Server really nice.

Tattu calls itself a modern take on Chinese, I would say it's perhaps Asian European fusion. We visited the night before Valentines day and the place was well and truly heaving. We were pleased however to been able to book a table online at short notice, albeit as it turned out a small round table. Staff were quick to bring a cushion for my girlfriend after the chairs at the round table were a bit uncomfortable for her.
The ambience is good, a lovely atmosphere, and the staff very attentive and friendly. Our waiter explained how food was put in the middle of the table for sharing and how it would delivered when ready and not all at once. You chose from a range of small and large dishes, though there are some preset sharing meal combinations starting at £60 per person.
The food we had was beautiful, very tasty and you go away satisfied without feeling bloated. Our choices included wild mushroom spring rolls, a tofu dish and sea bass. All delightful. For afters we enjoyed their take on banana fritter and white chocolate dragon egg.
The bill includes 10% service charge and £1 towards a local homeless charity, both of which I had no objections at all. Food and atmosphere wise we both thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I would say though, that Tattu is not cheap. This is somewhere that we most happy to eat at for a special occasion, but a regular stop off it is not. Even at lunch the menu is the same. And like most inner city restaurants, a few drinks and the bill rockets.
However all in all, for that special celebration, Tattu is a one ahead of the regular restaurants in and around town. If you would like to try something different at a friendly venue with lovely atmosphere, you can't go wrong getting a Tattu.

I went for a birthday meal and it did not disappoint! The service was amazing and the food exceeded expectations.
We went for the 'Emperors Choice' which was a sharing menu for 2 people.
Starter came with scallops & beef short rib... so so tasty!
The main was waygu steak, black cod, coconut creamed spinach and duck egg fried rice. They were all amazing.
The desert was super special and the cocktails are fabulous too. 10/10
M. G.
Tasty contemporary Chinese food in an absolutely exquisite setting featuring artificial blossoming cherry trees.

Had the most delicious meal we have had in a long time. We were made to feel welcome from the very beginning. The staff all look amazing in their very stylish uniforms and are all super friendly and very knowledgeable about all of the dishes on the menu. The restaurant is beautiful and absolutely immaculate. A huge thank you to Anka @tattuedinburgh for making our visit so enjoyable and special!

Brilliant place! Went there in the evening 9:30pm to celebrate my girlfriend's 30th birthday (17th February). Even though they had no Calamari, the Rock Shrimp as a substitute was so so good as well as the rest of the meals..so mouthwatering. The decor and ambiemce was amazing and loved the birthday touch as well. Props to the waitress (Can't remember her name but I remember her saying she was originally from Inverness) We came from London to Edinburgh for a short getaway and we were delighted to learn they'll be opening a restaurant in London. We can't wait until that happens and we visit and receive the same lovely service. Thank you!!
J. M.
Went to Tattu for my dads birthday and had a fantastic meal. Service was prompt and informative from our server Lewis P. Will absolutely be returning soon! And cheers again to Lewis for making it feel special.
L. C.
It's a beautiful restaurant, the mirrored tables reflecting the cherry blossom decor. The staff are friendly and the food is excellent. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion.
J.
Food tasted great and the staff were excellent. However the portions were much smaller than expected and way overpriced. Large dishes are really not that large at all
R. D.
Firstly service was great, nice welcome and jackie was so happy and professional. The food for me was over-priced for what you received. I dont mind paying more for food and i always think i am fair in any comments in relation to price vs value for money but i cant say i found this here. The restaurant is a sharing concept which I love, but for £22 for a large sharing plate, I expected the portion to perhaps be inline with a main course size, or perhaps served with something, it was just one chicken breast really. I am glad i went, it was my birthday so it was always somewhere I fancied, but there are higher end places in Edinburgh I prefer. The place looked great, and the toilets were lovely, but the atmosphere was funny, cant put my finger on what it was, everyone was really quiet, we found ourselves whispering and wasnt relaxed... oh ps: diet coke size was silly (the size served was for a mixer not as a main drink) overall for my birthday i was a bit underwhelmed

One of my favourites Restaurants in Edinburgh.
Tattu is an amazing Asian Fusion restaurant decorated with cherry trees and its lovely flowers making you feel you are in a very nice Japanese garden.
Its food is just gorgeous, and perfectly balanced between price - quality - presentation and the flavours it is possible described as umami and tried something that you normally would not order.
The service is nice, but my personal advise try to avoid book a table during the weekends, because could be a really busy restaurants turning a little bit stressed if you want a nice and quiet meal with family or partner in that beautiful place.
Nice selection of wines but I might recommend more champagne by the glass and less sweets cocktails (my favourite is the cherry negroni, tattu twinkle and auld rickie) but just let you know, the barman are able to make your favourites one.
I really recommend this restaurant that you will definitely enjoy since you pass through its doors.
S. s.
Lovely food but disorganized service. We were six in a table for four, no-one offered us to change even though there was a bigger table available. Also, the light on our table was not working, we had to use our phone torches to read the menu. They forgot to bring us our wine which was placed by the kitchen door and we had to ask a couple of times. On top of it, one of us was charged double - luckily he checked his bank account.
The waiters are very kind, it's just about organisation.
j. w.
The food here is amazing, we have been here lots but please please put the lights up in the disabled toilet!! If there is one place moodlighting is not needed its a baby changing table. I had to use my phone to change my baby and just hope for the best that he was clean
L. C.
We had heard great things about Tattu but we were a little disappointed 😞.
The food was 'nice'....not great or amazing as we were expecting. Decor and staff were lovely. The fact we were expecting to be blown away by the experience was probably the reason we were so disappointed. We also thought it was a bit expensive for what we got.
H. K.
A Must Go unforgettable experience!
This Birthday dinner was an unforgettable one for all the right reasons! This was one of the best meals in Edinburgh we would say! The staff, the food, The Decor! It was an incredible night.
Starting with the decor, in my pictures below, was beautiful it was absolutely magnificent in the restaurant, the first thing you see when you walk in is the ceiling, well, you can't actually see the ceiling as it is completely covered with cherry blossom trees which is just stunning! I also loved the Japan esque decor (as I assume).
The servers were lovely especially our main server Vaseem who took care of most of our meal and kept coming back to check on us making us feel very welcome.
The Food!
Chilli salt baby squid were incredible but also incredibly spicy! The sweet chilli sauce was not just spicy but had a great taste to it and was perfectly sweet at the same time! They arrived garnished with togarashi spice and an assortment of small veggies.
Crispy duck spring rolls were incredible they came wrapped with a bowl of hoisin sauce. They had a lovely fluffy pastry outside and a warm, moist inside. The duck was also shredded to perfection and quite soft.
The Salt and pepper Aubergine had a crisp tempura batter with a velvety soft interior, they arrived with a tangy cherry hoisin dipping sauce garnished with a beautiful flower and were arranged as a Jenga tower like fashion.
Surf and turf shumai are a perfect end to that set of dim sum and small plates although, the 'dim sum' weren't typical soft white doughy but I didn't mind as they were perfect and I couldn't have asked for more.
The surf was a sticky red prawn on top with a small chive garnish which was a nice addition to, what I thought, was the main of the meal - the Turf of short rib, it was the perfect balance of savoury and sweet and was probably my favourite starter!
Starting off with one of my favourite mains... The Chinese BBQ Chicken! It was cooked to perfection and melts in your mouth probably on of the best cooked chicken meals I've ever had I just can't get over it! It came with pickled cucumber, chilli and sweet soy sauce and a lime
Next another one of my favourites (to be honest most of them were!) The black pepper and honey ribs, they had an incredible balance of chilli and honey, and I don't like ribs that much usually and they are something I stay away from but these I would probably order every time I go there because they were all succulent meat and NOTHING else! They were probably in the top 2 of what I ate today.
Also something exceptional that stood out was the complete dish of white miso salmon, I don't think I could ask for any more out of a dish like this! It was sweet, with a delicate finish in taste and texture a complete, perfect dish.
Yet another great dish was the Thai style Monkfish - a stunning crispy batter with a buttery soft fresh piece of Monkfish inside.
The beautiful Jenga esque style garnished with lime, shallots and lemongrass. A must get dish!
The sides or the plates we chose from the 'Rice, Noodle & Vegetables' section were the X.O. Fried Rice and the Special Fried Sweet Potato. Both great accompaniments to the mains I especially like she X.O. Fried rice, the potatos were just good they weren't incredible but they were good
This was a dinner we wouldn't forget and would definitely go back and definitely recommend that you go as well!

Amazing food, nice Deco, lovely 😍 staff.

Food is super yummy, staff is very friendly - especially our server, Kat. She helped us interpret the menu (which was very needed on my part) and regularly checked in. Thanks for a lovely night! xo
H. T.
We came in for a special celebration last night, and I honestly had one of the best nights of my life. The ambience was great (music upbeat but not super noticable, great lighting, smells, and decor) and the food and cocktails were incredible. Our amazing server Anka really made the evening - she was so sweet and attentive and had a really great energy. It felt really special, and I am 100% certain to be coming back. Photo is of the espresso martini!!

Fantastic place! The food was absolutely delicious, the staff friendly, knowledgeable and courteous. Great decor. Highly recommended.
J. E. A. G.
Was an experience unforgettable, deco is stunning.
The reception was really friendly and polite with us.
We got a table close to the window and could see how beautiful is the restaurant.
Such a good service, the food speechless, tops dishes Seared Tuna and Caramel Soy Beef Fillet.
We had the pleasure to meet Petra and Aleksandra, they were absolutely lovely, friendly and professional, their made our dinner specially marvellous.
Awesome experience, totally recommendable.
F. W.
Incredible meal and absolutely amazing restaurant. Lewis was fantastic, very helpful and made some great recommendations. Never said OMG so many times eating a meal.
A.
Going into the restaurant was an amazing feeling, marble wall, huge trees inside the restaurant, great atmosphere.
All staff are polite and well knowledgeable about the food and drinks.
Food is outstanding throughout the night but only one plate that I did find bland (ish) was the monkfish no taste at all told the staff and they were willing to change it without a hassle 🙂.
Sea bass, sweet potatoes chips and the rest were on point.
I will recommend this place for couple or friends and family gathering.
A. P.
The best part of this place is the atmosphere. Food and drink were terribly expensive and the food wasn't top notch cuisine. I went on a Wed night with friends and even with a reservation we were sat late and all night the wait staff was busy and inattentive. Our main server was stand-offish and wasn't very pleasant. We were told that the dining experience is supposed to a sharing one, like in some Asian cuisines. However the ambience, slow service, music and entire flow of the restaurant doesn't give off that vine at all. One of my friends had the mushroom hot pot and it was basically a bowl of soy sauce with veggies that was too salty to be edible.
A redeeming part was the brownie pagoda that had a stunning presentation and was big enough for 4-5 ppl.
G. S.
First meal in Edinburgh and it didn't disappoint! Our server was Lewis, he was attentive and professional. Food was amazing!
J. K.
Great experience.
Lovely food, brilliant service and very knowledgable staff.
We will be back.
I. B.
Stunning restaurant with beautiful decor, creating a lovely atmosphere.
The food is exceptional as are the staff. It isn't a cheap night out but totally worth it for a special treat.
Make sure you leave room for a pudding.
B. C.
Tattu Edinburgh was a brilliant surprise! My partner and I loved everything about it. From its fab interiors, delectable menu, and most of all its amazing, amazing staff. Special mention to the lady named Sara who we thought gave an absolute outstanding service to us. Cant recommend this business enough. Fab fab fab!!!!
C. E.
Great food and drinks and the staff are amazing and super friendly.
D. F.
Food was great, the dragon cocktail was a slight letdown, would definitely go back, our waiter for the day was David and he was so good on advising us on choices of the menu
K. M.
We were mostly excited to go for the atmosphere but it didn't match expectations. The club-like music ruined it. Tables are small and very close together.
A lot of mains aren't worth the price. However, the starters are excellent and so are the desserts. Waitress was brilliant, good service and super friendly.
R. S.
Very bust will require booking well in advance, server recommended her favourite items and was vet attentive. Great atmosphere and food was really nice. The angry bird chicken was delish.
M. R.
I'll start with desert as whatever my wife had she described as the best ever. That says it all. We eat fish but not meat. The teriyaki salmon melted in the mouth but the monkfish was another level. Then there was the veggie chicken which was made from seitan. It was so morish and satisfying and a large portion. Sides and small plates were all superb. And service was excellent as well. Can't fault it. Worth every star.
G. M.
Absolutely beautiful dining experience.
For opening night service was impressively smooth, personable and professional. Staff were welcoming, knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
Food was very tasty and the setting is truly an experience. Absolutely beautiful dining room. I’d highly recommend the angry bird chicken.
k.
3rd time dining at Tattu, each a special occasion each a delight. Fantastic food and service. Thanks again! Vassem and Aaron who have looked after us were brilliant!
A. C.
3.5 stars but rounded up! The inside is really fun although the middle row of low booth seating we were sat at wasn’t the greatest. Very deep and cushioned which meant you sink in but also can’t lean back without being half lying down.
Food was half amazing and half not so amazing. We started with the Sticky Beef Short Rib, Surf and Turf Shumai, and Salt and Pepper Aubergine which were all to die for! So so so delicious. The Thai Style Crispy Monkfish was also great. However the Wok Fired Angry Bird, Fried Rice and Shanghai Noodles would have been at home at a Chinese takeaway menu. Not to mention the fried rice was only so-so and the Shanghai Noodles as a side dish was very very small yet cost more than any of our starter dishes!!!
P.
Absolutely delicious!
Service was outstanding!
Cocktails was sublime!
D. B.
Excellent meal, cocktails and service with a smile from Lewis P. We followed his recommendations and were not disappointed! Many thanks
J.
Delicious food and cocktails, the service is absolutely amazing and the restaurant itself is very nicely decorated.
D. C.
Service was excellent, food was even better. Not the cheapest, but the food is worth the cost. Atmosphere was informal but grown up.
V. G.
Stunning place, really great vibes and fantastic service from Lewis who attended to our needs for my daughters birthday. I would definitely recommend visiting this place.
A. S.
Place attracts a trendy crowd, and has a nice decor. The food is okay for its price. I had 8 different finger foods: 3 were amazing, 5 I could and would make in my pajamas.
D. T.
Excellent food and a great atmosphere. Would highly recommend the set menus! Slightly disappointed with the rice but rest of the food was outstanding.
S. A.
Unfortunately we only came here for drinks, because this place is not only gorgeous, but their staff makes the whole experience worth it. Since we work in hotels, we love to seat in good bars and taste different drink flavors, and their house cocktails couldn’t be better for that.
l. c.
An amazing dining experience. Excellent service. Fantastic food and gorgeous surroundings.

Celebrated our friends 30th birthday and it was the best choice. Decor was beautiful and Sam our waiter was incredible. Definitely recommend!
S. A.
Really great experience! The food, decor and atmosphere was amazing and our waiter Sam was brilliant, really friendly and attentive.
Thank you :)

Very tasty food beautifully prepared, great friendly service, and the whole place looks so gorgeous!

Absolutely wonderful night with my partner, the dessert sake was beautiful recommended by the wonderful sam who had fantastic recommendations throughout, food was beautifully prepared with the shimai being my favourite, we will be back! 5 stars

We went last year for our anniversary and it was wonderful, the manager was a delight when we had an issue and our waitress Sarah was amazing and really helped make the night magical! Looking forward to going again
P. A.
Let's start by saying the good things:
- Amazing location, the whole decorations set a really nice mood
- Nice staff, each member we interacted with was very nice
- Amazing desserts, very good and very nice looking
- Ok food, good presentation but for that price I could have expected a bit more
- Awful service, we waited 15 minutes on our booking reservation, since there were many people like us I can see is not a sporadic event but more a overbooking/too many tables situation. 1,30 hours to get the first dish, the waiting was so long.
Waiting so long to be served is a waste of time and is just due to the fact that someone want to make more money and so they squeeze more tables in. That is unacceptable!
We had nice company so the evening went well, still not going there again.
i. c.
Food was excellent quality, very tasty. Good service, knowledgeable staff.
B. D.
Best meal I’ve ever had, the experience was amazing and our server Davie made the meal so much better for us
A meal I will never forget as the food and ambience was incredible, would highly recommend
A. M.
Amazing place. Great new addition to the Edinburgh restaurant scene. Brilliant well presented food. Friendly helpful staff.
S. T.
Absolutely the best experience we’ve had at a restaurant in Edinburgh. Food was spectacular, service was impeccable. I couldn’t find fault in anything.
A. C.
Very nice restaurant, great setting, service was impeccable....however the food was not as tasty as expected and nearly slipped off my seat when I saw the bill. Very over priced and there are other restaurants with a similar servicing style (brought out when ready rather than set courses) where the food is better. You are paying a lot for the ambience and service but double others is not worth it in my opinion.
D. S.
It’s not traditional or authentic Chinese food, but they innovatively combine Chinese dishes with Japanese and European food! And the service is great though price is not low:)
K. H.
Fantastic food and service. A place to visit wherever you're in Edinburgh.
M.
Nice food plenty atd, lovely staff.
D. F.
Definitely unique in its decor which is both over the top and some how, for the moment(s) you are there, works. Food is good, don't over order which is easy to do, waiter was helpful: short ribs, tuna wonton and wild mushroom rolls, filet steak caramel soy, black cod & duck egg fried rice.... bon appetit
R. R. (.
A marvellous dining experience. Can be a bit pricy, but it's definitely worth it. Food is delicious, everything is great. Service is top notch, as as the drinks. Atmosphere is to die for, and the decor is simply stunning. One of my favourite places to eat out. Can't recommend Tattu enough.
M. H.
Totally awesome from start to finish, service was super friendly and attentive, setting was lovely and food was Stellar !!! Special thanks to Daniel and Ellie for making a special night even better 😀
L. G.
The best asian food ive had outside of asia. It was so delicious i wanted more even though I couldn't eat another bite! The design of the restaurant is beautiful, with cherry blossom trees and lanterns decorating the entire restaurant. Is a wee bit pricy compared to other restaurants in Edinburgh of the same quality but as a treat it was well worth it
J. S.
Beautiful decor and delicious food & drinks. Friendly and attentive service as well. Came here at the start of our Edinburgh honeymoon and it was the most memorable meal we had. Staff were also kind enough to offer us a free dessert to commentate the occasion
A. N.
Very tasty however donuts are not nice. Short Ribs are tender, and monkfish delicious. Staff are very nice and made my day better.
J. F.
Chamdni provided an amazing service and more, such a beautiful person inside and out! We accidentally booked got the restaurant and all the staff were so nice and accommodating to this situation. Such a lovely place can't wait to go back for food next time! Can't praise Chamdni all the best and wish her all the best and all of he staff! Shout out to boss elli too, thanks again❤️
R.
The most beautiful restaurant we’ve ever eaten in. Food, drinks and service were top class with great advice from our waiter ‘Aaron’ who was fantastic. Thankyou
S. C.
A special evening at undoubtably Edinburgh’s top restaurant. Wonderful Greek waiter served us all evening and can’t wait to be back.
m.
Five stars doesn't seem enough. Please go here, eat the magnificent food, and get the Dead Man's Chest to finish your meal. An amazing experience, and advice on the best Sake from our server (Aaron) was much appreciated.
A. V.
Amazing restaurant! The food was delicious and the drinks were very fun. Shared platters make for a fun experience, and we ordered k rounds so if we wanted more it was easy to order more. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend Tattu!
D. L.
Incredible food and a very funky interior.
Skull cocktail was delicious!!!!
S. C.
Deco: the decoration is beautiful, very special designed. The atmosphere is nice, although the music is a bit noisy. More like a bar instead of a restaurant.
Food: the food is disappointing and over-priced, importantly it’s not Chinese food. The only food I feel good is actually the beef fillet. I would think better to characterise it as Asian food with good looking. X.O rice is not as good as a fast chain restaurant. The water costs 4 pounds a bottle without asking us.
Service: the service is overall good. The waiters are all welcoming and enthusiastic. But a head manager seems to be arrogant and judgmental.
I don’t think I will come back to this restaurant for the food but might for the atmosphere if there is a special occasion.
G. A.
Absolutely stunning restaurant, food was spectacular. Staff needed to deal with a food allergy problem with my wife and they were unbelievable, they were able to accommodate her brilliantly. We will definitely be back for another amazing meal.
C. G.
Fantastic place! Excellent service. Amazing food. Great cocktails.
H. G.
Lovely place to dine for a special occasion. Limited menu though but food was excellent.
O. M. (.
Excellent food, however very oily, the flavours were good but not enough variety for non pork eaters.
K. K.
Had a lovely romantic dinner with the partner, great food and drinks, amazing interior.
L. O.
Amazing decor, reception staff were very friendly and polite and waitress knowledgeable. We were sat in a booth which was really private which was good but no-one took our coats which meant we has to tuck them into the inside of the seat which creased them all.
We all felt that the choice was limited for the mains. As the server explained at the start the dishes come out when they are cooked so "it's best to share" we wanted to order something we would all eat .
My husband isn't a fan of fish or peppers so this limited our choice.
We ordered 3 small plates, the duck with pancakes for 2 and 3 side dishes with 2 mains .
We felt that the food being served as it was cooked left the meal disjointed. Seaweed came out first, then 2 starters then the sides (we asked for 1 plain fried rice ) 1 with sausage and 1 Singapore noodles . Both rices were the same and there was little noodles for vegetables .
Then the mains arrived with the duck some time later.
The food was amazing but overpriced. The food portions were small but adequate if you had ordered a few to taste.
Overall the bill came to £220. This included 1 large bottle of fizzy water. 2 small bottles of still water. 4 colas and 2 glasses of red wine.
Up until we got the bill the overall experience had been really good. It wasn't the bill total that upset me it was the automatic 15% service charge. Along with this a pound was added to the bill for their charity.
As always I would leave a tip which I would have done anyway but To automatically put this on your bill along with a pound deduction for your charity is unacceptable for a table of 3 .
Why does the restaurant not pay the pound themselves for each table that comes through the restaurant ?
For each table dining and spending an average of £150 and then incorporating a service charge of 15% that's £22 × approx 35 tables - £770 for 1 sitting alone. I assume the staff are not paid the service charge over and above their wages ?
To round it all off I went to the loo and no toilet roll was available.
Gorgeous toilets, lovely soap and moisturiser but nothing to wipe my bottom with !
I have mixed reservations about returning back. Within 2 hours of leaving the restaurant the 3 of us were tucking into ice cream from the local shop as we were still hungry.
S.
An absolute worthwhile experience. All the dishes we had were first rate, each had something different about it along with creativity. The staff were welcoming and helpful in choosing the dishes.
A truly wonderful experience, leaving you with a sense of urgency to go through the whole experience again. Can't wait for them to open a restaurant in London.
Great stuff guys, now you've set the bar high, I hope it can maintain the quality of the food, ambience if the restaurant and great customer service.
M. R.
Amazing food , great for sharing with friends . portion sizes just right , teriyaki salmon ,duck bon bons mmmm scrumptious .pricy but well worth it. a great evening !! Oh and deserts totally scrumptious
M. S.
Amazing cocktails and super customer service from the floor staff. Also food is very tasty however we waiting long for it.
W. P.
Lovely Restaurant interior
Cannot understand all the hype! Unless you have not visited many Restaurants in your life
Service is very attentive but although food presentation is good the taste is no better than most Chinese Restaurants.
Most shocking is the cost
S. C.
This is amazing, the service is great and the food is fantastic, the food looks great because of the dry ice and the Asian feel is real
M. F.
Beautiful decor, great service from staff. Food us without a doubt the best Chinese in Edinburgh. The tasting menu gives a great and varied choice. Well worth a visit.
Can't wait to go back.
I. W.
Comfortable and luxurious restaurant with a unique and delicious take on Chinese cuisine- we were very well looked after by Sammy and the team
G. D.
Brilliant night at Tattu! Oli was a fantastic waiter! Food was amazing, cocktails great also! Amazing place 👍🏻
C. C.
An impressive & delicious experience. Outstanding service & attention to detail from Jackie. Would definitely recommend as a treat.
R. F.
Great food and beautiful restaurant. The restaurant is very busy so be prepared to wait. Wouldn't listen to the staff recommendations into the amount to eat. 2 starters and 2 mains with 1 side would is sufficient.
D. H.
The food Is to die for! Only complaint is the drinks menu don't list all the ingredients/flavours, so ended up with one I couldn't drink due to it containing cider! Despite this the quality of the food and the service from front of house was amazing.
G. F.
It would get 5 stars if your only is aim for your 'instragamability' kudos. Well presented visual establishment with credit card melting prices. Quality of food was good but extremely poor value for money. If your not worried about the bill you will have a good time, especially watching all the Wannabees.
S. G.
Lovely atmosphere and great food, our server Ollie was absolutely lovely, attentive and made the best recommendations! Thank you :D
k. f.
Definitely a go to when in Edinburgh! Our waitress Petra was lovely, so efficient and helpful, especially when explaining the menu to us to make sure we had the best experience. Highly recommend

It was lovely food. Everything tasty. Service was very good too.

I absolutely love this place, it had become one of my favourite regulars. The decor and ambiance is absolutely stunning.
Aaron was our Barista, he was so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. I took my family last night to celebrate my daughters 18th birthday, they are all saying they will definitely be back too. Thank you Tattu for making it so special for her. 🥰🎉🎂
A. B.
Great service, phenomenal food. Great ambience across the restaurant. I had duck spring rolls, sesame roasted scallops, duck, Thai style monkfish and the pièce de résistance was the cherry blossom dessert which is probably the best dessert I have ever had
J. P.
Gorgeous restaurant with fantastic service and great food our waiter Aaron was excellent. Couldn't ask for a better start to our holiday!!
N.
Inside the restaurant is lovely. A great setting. Couldn't fault the staff. All the front of house and waiting staff were attentive and friendly and just what you'd want. The food was unfortunately a bit underwhelming. A lot of it was bizarrely sweet. None of it was seasoned well. This is a shame because it's a lovely place and the menu was promising. I hope there are improvements soon.

Still sitting at my table. Needed to say how amazing this place is. The food is outstanding and staff equally as good. Our server(Sarah I think) is amazing, such an asset to this place. I will be back in the very near future.
B.
I had high expectations for this restaurant after wanting to visit for nearly a year. The restaurant is easy enough to find from Princes’ Street.
Once we arrived and checked in - our temperature was taken which was nice to see. I then assumed we’d be taken to our table but alas we weren’t. We were asked to take a seat at the bar while we wait for our table which I thought was odd as we weren’t early and had to wait ~5 minutes which isn’t a long time but I was starving myself all day to come here! Not that great.
The restaurant’s decor is stunning. My expectations were met here. So gorgeous and they’ve really utilized the space well. Stunning place.
We were shown our table and the waitress was very friendly. Introduced herself to us and explained what covid precautions they’re taking to protect their staff and customers (one-way system, mask must be worn except at the table) which is really excellent to see as it was so thorough. She then explained you can have the starters as tapas which we didn’t do on this occasion. We asked for water which was £4 a bottle which wasn’t even a litre but I won’t fault them on that as I didn’t specific whether I wanted tap water but noticed all other tables had tap water.
We ordered the food which came in a reasonable amount of time. I had the baby chili squid and the monkfish.
Firstly, the squid was nice but it wasn’t nicer than any other Asian-styled restaurant I’ve been to. In fact I’ve had nicer ones at cheaper restaurants. The portion size here was good though.
I had the monkfish for my main course which I found extremely disappointed. The dish is presented in a similar way to how Harvester presents their halloumi and chips. Not something I’d expect from a restaurant of this calibre and the price of this dish is eye-wateringly expensive at nearly £30 and for something that is known as poor man’s lobster - I was expecting more on my plate.
Overall I left feeling disappointed and to summarize my views on this place: I wouldn’t recommend it unless you want to show off to people on Instagram about the decor of the restaurant. I wouldn’t recommend coming here. The Ivy or Chaophyara are equally as nice but much cheaper. However I’m glad I’ve been.

In short: fantastic service, phenomenal food, but quite expensive.
While the prices are high, you are paying for excellent service from attentive and polite staff, and excellent food at Tattu. We went for one of their 4 set menus which range from £40 per person (vegetarian menu) to £99 per person (including an £80+ steak). We went for the £45 set menu which has about 7 different dishes, all relatively small, but together are extremely filling! The food was absolutely fantastic and gave us a good variety of Asian tastes.
The decor in the restaurant is beautiful, with it designed with Japanese blossom trees lining the walls and ceiling. It is a really unique and interesting design choice which provide a beautiful setting to eat your food in. The whole interior is extremely classy with black and gold accents all throughout!
Overall I would highly recommend this for anyone going out for a special meal such as an anniversary or celebration with someone special. Or if you're just rich AF and want to have a nice meal! Class!
G. M.
Setting is very cool, cocktails are fun and different but food is very average, especially considering it's pretty pricey!!
G. M.
Fantastic experience here, amazing tasting food and drinks with a great atmosphere and awesome decor.
G. B.
Excellent ambiance. Friendly staff and the food is fantastic.

Decor - amazing
Staff - pleasant
Water - overpriced
Food - dissapointing
The decor is absolutely stunning. We ordered a bottle of water to start which was suggested. Was later annoyed to find that the bottle is £4 each and about 70% of the other tables were given what appeared to be tap water which I assume was free.
For the starter had the baby chili squid Which was nice but tasted a tiny bit overcooked and the ratio of batter to squid is a little selfish. Made for a very filling but not exceptional dish.
For the main course had the monk fish. Priced £26. Was left dissapointed because it was four reasonable size pieces which was soggy and not crispy enough. Having had a £17 monk fish curry at the Ivy London this one left me dissapointed and made me questioned why I'd come here.
When the bill came I was left feeling more like I'd been conned. £8 for water makes me speechless. I've been to asia many times so know what good asian food tastes like
Will not be returning here again! Would however rate highly the Giggling Squid in the south or the Ivy which can be found across the UK

Fantastic food & great service by Lewis, will definitely be back

So beautiful...the food was amazing and the staff were very nice. There was a bit of a long wait for my cocktails and food...but the place was very busy so understandable. Highly recommend.

Really cool place. Everything tasted amazing, staff were friendly, confident and in control at all times.

Definitely unique in its decor which is both over the top and some how, for the moment(s) you are there, works. Food is good, don't over order which is easy to do, waiter was helpful: short ribs, tuna wonton and wild mushroom rolls, filet steak caramel soy, black cod & duck egg fried rice.... bon appetit

One for the gram that's for sure. The venue itself is amazing... A little on the overpriced side of things but worth a visit if you want a few more likes. Food is ok, nothing blows you away, if you're a fan of Asian food and know what you're talking about, then maybe try something more authentic. But overall, pretty cool concept.
A. C.
Aesthetically stunning and the staff are warm, welcoming and very professional. But we go for the food, right?!! 10/10 for presentation and concept but very overpriced for what it is. £45 for lunch with no alcohol (lockdown situation) is steep. At the end of the day, it's a chain.
Go, see it, have the chocolate pagoda!! Experience it once, that's all that's need.
Also attracts super rich, scantily clad teenage girls, if you're into that kind of thing.......put some clothes on missy!! It's damn well lunchtime!!
N. W.
Fantastic! Just Fantastic, service, choice, food and ambiance all fantastic.

Aaron h was absolutely fantastic amazing waitering and service felt well welcome and just a fantastic night out thank you so much tattu Edinburgh!!!.
M. K.
What a night! Fantastic service and food. Our server Dan was so helpful with the menu and recommended the short rib and angry bird, they were fantastic! We then had the cherry blossom tree that was the icing on the cake. A night of theatrics and quality food. If your after a date night venue then go here
M. G.
Not worth the money.
I booked a table a week in advance and we had to wait more than 15 minutes for the table and when it was ready was probably the worst table in the restaurant, just two meters away from the pass where the staff takes the dishes from the kitchen.
The restaurant was full so there was no chance to get another table but I don't think that's a table you should give to someone who has a booking, maybe for a walk-in is ok but no for a booking.
We ordered a selection of 6 dishes. For those prices you expect the food to be amazing, but only one of the plates was. The rest were just ok or quite average. We ordered the brownie to share for dessert (is one of my favourite desserts) and we couldn't finish it. It was tasteless, not worth £11 for sure. They put a lot of effort on the presentation of the dishes, but felt like they forgot about the taste and the quality of the food itself, which is the most important thing in a restaurant.
The place is very beautiful inside and the service was very attentive.
L. A.
Was only in Edinburgh for a short time and this place came highly recommended and gosh it didn’t disappoint.
From the moment we arrived you were captivated by the the surroundings , the ambience and the professionalism of service. .
The food was outstanding, a fantastic cocktail menu and very knowledgeable staff .
A special mention to Brodie , our waitress/server , she was exceptional.
A highlight of our travels and a truly memorable dining experience.
J. R.
The decor and style of the restaurant is amazing but the food and service wasn't. Ordered the fiery angry bird but should be salty angry bird. The dish was far too salty and wasn't spicy in the slightest. I agree with other comments that you could go to other less expensive Chinese restaurants and the food quality would be far better.
Regarding service, it was going well until they forgot about one of our dishes so one member of our party was sat without food for another 20 minutes and by the time they got their meal everyone else had pretty much finished theirs.
It all just oozes style over substance to sum it up which is a great shame but these are things that can be improved.
D. D.
An Instagram worthy restaurant with beautiful decor. Nice seating, lovely ambiance and amazing walls. The service is impeccable. The servers were knowledgeable, courteous, and always with a smile. The drinks were good and we had a few to compensate for what came next which was the food. How can you have a restaurant that charges so much for food but doesn't even deliver quarter of that. The food was overcooked, underseasoned, and just lacked flavor in many dishes and we had ordered 8 out of which only 2 were good. Why do this to your restaurants where you have the potential to make it a good one. And it wasn't just the two of us who were complaining, the tables next to us wanted to go to Burger King for something to eat. I'm giving it three stars for the service and drinks because yes you can go there just to have a few
L. B.
Lovely service, food and aesthetics, Katrina was amazing! Definitely recommend x
J. R.
Beautiful room. The decor is fantastic. Food is delicious, enjoyed the lamb cutlets and short rib in particular. Amazing cocktails, the cherry blossom negroni was fantastic. Can't wait to visit again and try dessert.
K. W.
Great surroundings and Delicious food and cocktails. Service excellent 👌
A.
Really nice food with excellent service and a great place to be. Not cheap but for everything else, couldn't fault it. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
D. C.
Ate here for a special birthday occasion. The food is presented exceptionally well. There are lots of unusual choices available and the service is very good. It is really very expensive and I think one visit is enough, but it's worth going to because the restaurant is stunning inside and it's a real experience to see it. Wouldn't eat here again but glad that I had the experience once.
A. M.
Awesome food. Bit of a crazy menu with chinese thai french fusion but it worked really well. The staff were great, very helpful and well informed
R. G.
The service staff were very welcoming and were lovely to us - always making sure we had enough drinks and were enjoying our dinner, which was exceptional. We will absolutely be back.
Y. B.
First time diner at Tattu and wow, just wow! The decor, the staff, the food, the cocktails, the dry ice desserts! We opted for one of the set menus to experience the "Waves" and loved everything! Tempura was perfect, monkfish was heaven, candyfloss cherry blossom was for sure a piece of art. Thank you for that special dessert for our 3yr anniversary, you really made my [our] night! I will certainly be back.
P. M.
Nice place, good food and nice service.
J. T.
Great service. Lovely food. Stunning restaurant
K. L.
Really cool place. Everything tasted amazing, staff were friendly, confident and in control at all times.

Went for my anniversary with my partner. Had an incredible experience, the restaurant is stunning with sakura trees decorating the room and ceiling, the staff are friendly and attentive. We had Ana and she was incredible, all her recommendations were spot on. The food was outstanding, my partner had the wagu beef that I also tried and love. It was busy for a Sunday, so would recommend booking beforehand.
S. D.
We came in for a late dinner on a Sunday night. We thought we might be the last table to come in but there were still people coming after us. Decor was amazing, creating a nice relaxed atmosphere.
Food and drinks were top notch 👍🏻
Service was great - staff were knowledgeable and friendly.
We would recommend this place to others ✅
S. B.
The best food experience I have ever had. The staff and service is first class. We were well looked after by our server Carys, she was excellent. Will definitely be returning to this restaurant.
A. B.
Every bite was divine!
I brought my partner as a treat while we visited Edinburgh and we were both blown away by the great atmosphere, friendly and knowledgable staff as well as the brilliant food.
Every mouthful I had was full of flavour and perfectly cooked.
We shared the salt & pepper aubergine, white miso salmon, tempura monkfish, lobster & prawn toast and the cherry blossom dessert.
Our waitress we charismatic as well as knowledgable on the menu.
We had an excellent experience that we'll be raving about for years to come.
Thank you!
I. K.
First class experience in Tattu today.
Girl in reception very kind with a big smile.
Food was really good! Carpaccio was amazing! Cocktails were excellent, nice job bar team! Star of the day was the service! Alex knows what hospitality really means!
Thanks a lot Sir!! We will be back soon!

Had a lovely time. Excellent atmosphere. Got a chicken curry clay pot. Found it to be absolutely fabulous. Wait service was great had a fella called Laurence serve us he was attentive and the wait wasn't long at all for the food.
J. W.
Really good food and attentive friendly staff.
A. D.
Very lovely staff and place, nice atmosphere.
I personally didn't like most of the food I ordered, buy definitely a good place try new things
L. H.
One of the best eating out experiences I've ever had. Food is top class and service was brilliant. Definitely the place to eat out when in Edinburgh.
N. M.
An absolute delight. Took a family member for a birthday lunch and from the moment we entered nothing was too much trouble. The barstaff were extremely convivial and recommended a skull candy cocktail, an instagram pleaser but also very well balanced and a delightful drink. The food was well cooked coming as and when ready so ordering a number of plates is a must. The scallops, dim sum and monkfish were beautifully cooked to name a few of the dishes and our waiter Vaseem was attentive and polite and never were we left to linger for more than a moment when ordering anything extra.
The desserts were another opportunity for photographs and were larger than expected so save some room! Overall a 5 star experience to challenge any and though perhaps not an everyday eatery due to the cost is well worth a trip for a special occasion or just to splash the cash.
M.
Fabulous food, excellent service. A must 👌
S.
Visited the tattu for my birthday .Staff were friendly ..atmosphere was nice .Food was really nice, apart for one of the dishes which was very salty .The one real big issue I have is the serving plates.we are expected to share our food and we are given seperate side plates to use .Firstly they are small round plates and I don't know how you expect your guests to eat noodles and rice on small dessert plates. Its very uncomfortable and not very practical. You should offer your guests deep bowls when you know they have ordered noodles or rice to eat ..everything is slipping off the plates ..it was not a very nice way for me to eat my dinner so I just got most of my food packed to eat at home. I seriously think its something u need to consider as you know Asians do eat their noodles and rice in deep bowls .This issue is a big thing for me hence why i can only reward you 3 stars .Otherwise It was a nice experience.
N.
Food was amazing so were the staff. Couldn't fault any of it. Had an amazing time. The decor and the dishes looked amazing 👏
B. B.

S. E.

R. L.
Had a really great meal with great service. Prices are much better than expected as well. Such a good meal for two with drinks for £90, we really did expect we'd have to part with more ££ for what we had. Definitely recommend!

Amazing food,Amazing drink. Perfect night

So, i came up to Edinburgh from Liverpool for Valentines weekend.
I was recommended to go Tattu by a friend.
I can honestly say, iv never been to a better restaurant.
My girlfriend an I received the best service we possibly could. The waitress came over at the beginning, gave an over view of the restaurant, gave advice on meals an drinks as there is so much to chose from. During the meal the managers came over to check everything was ok, an even gave recommendations on where to go after the meal knowing we were from out of town.
Once our food arrived, the portions were big, the taste was amazing.
You knew you was getting something special.
The Duck Bon Boms are possibly the tastiest Food iv ever eaten.
Thank you to all the staff for an excellent first Valentines with my girlfriend.
S. F.
Staff were amazing and really look after you and know a lot obout the food and drinks they are serving! Really nice food and amazing cocktails!
G. F.
Absolutely fantastic from the beginning to the end!!
Vaseem was looking after us and his recommendations were brilliant. Duck Spring Rolls and Szechuan Rock Shrimp for starter were exceptional and Angry Bird chicken dish for me stood out!
Clean and beautiful surroundings, 5 star service and great food. All round a great experience, one I have and will continue to recommend to everyone!
A. L.
Unfortunately, not a favourite place of mine within Edinburgh. The lady controlling the front of house was very snobbish and rude. This attitude made for an uncomfortable atmosphere and very much put myself out of sorts.
However, the drinks were just delightful and brimming with extravagance. The decor was so lovely and wonderfully thought out.
Truly a shame though, first expressions are very important and not an attribute to over look.
D. S.
Absolutely fantastic. Exquisite food in beautiful surroundings.
K. T.
Wow, waited weeks to go here. Was defo worth the wait. Amazing 👏
N. M.
Visited Tattu during busy Thursday evening and was pleasantly suprsised by the decor and friendliness of staff. Food was great, especially Vegetarian Chicken and Sticky Toffee Pudding. Service was top-notch, special thanks to Brodie, Kasia and Chloe who made us feel welcome and well taken care of!

This was a treat from my son, I Absolutely loved it here, the food was amazing, service excellent, desserts yum and beautiful (the dragons egg is a must) Wow!! Just Wow!
E. B.
Great staff, great food and ambience loved our dine in from start to finish and made my birthday meal feel extra special! Can't wait to go back
S.
Temp check on arrival. Service was good however not sure they should encourage sharing food which was maybe once acceptable. Food was nice but not sure I would visit again. Table was restricted to 2 hours for 3 people.
M. E.
Food is amazing but the service really wasn't great at all. Seems a bit like people only go for the experience and decor. I've had better service at much cheaper restaurants, but if you don't mind sloppy service the food really is incredible
G. S.
Astonishing architect. Food is mediocre to be kind. A pricey version of wagamama.
Scallops were excellent, so were the small beef cubes. But the seared tuna was ice cold straight from the fridge , the squid "tempura" was just a poor chep batter and cleared had been fried from frozen.
Gpod service.
That's it.
Not worth the booking hype. This bubble will burst soon.the three stars are for the settings the food is 2 stars
R. G.
AMAZING service and the food was so delicious! I had the vegetarian chicken with the bean sauce! Two days later, I ordered it again and loved it! Thank you so much for the amazing experience!!
R. G.
Very pretty scenery and good atmosphere, service was good. Food on the other hand was meh - lacking in taste, chicken was dry, very mediocre considering the price. To be honest I won’t go back.
D. R.
Great selection of delicious food, great atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff. Can't wait to go again!
D. L.
The team at Tattu have done it again! The atmosphere and styling in this restaurant is second to none. Every venue tops the last and of course the food is out of this world. Highly recommend. 10/10
