Really good quality foods, especially the meet platter. It says it is meant to feed 2 people but honestly it feeds 3 boys. The staff is extremely kind and it really gives a homey Greek vibe. And also, desserts are simply fantastic!

First time trying Taxidi in Edinburgh and I have to say I wasn’t let down on any front.. The usual friendly Greek hospitality from the outset which made the evening really enjoyable. The owner who is from the northern part of Greece (Thessaloniki) explained his menu is based on this region. He recommended some starters and then the specials which were a Tomahawk port steak and some lamb chops. They were absolutely delicious, so tender and juicy (to die for). I thoroughly recommend to give this a try if you like Greek food.. one word or warning though is to book in advance as it’s not a huge place so better not to be disappointed by just turning up on the off chance of a table. Fantastic once again. From the Greek salad to saganaki ladotyri and Vouno above all. Amazing! Loukoumades are highly recommended for dessert! Owner is really nice and goes above and beyond to give you a great experience! Rest of the staff too, no complains at all, just happy smiles!

The food is exceptional. Everything I have tried was awesome and had the quality of hearty homemade food. Limited options for vegans, but you can find something like beans, chips, fava. The beef stew with the smoked aubergine poure is out of this world. The beans on the other plate where literally melting in the mouth. The hand-cut chips a wonderful surprise! The place has the vibe of a good Greek tavern. Busy, noisy, cozy, super friendly and all that comes with being Greek. Not the kind of quite/romantic restaurant. More like a community get-together where everyone is talking to each other. So if you like this vibe and good hearty food, you will love this place!

Loved this Greek Bistro, food was amazing and cooked with passion, the flavours were bang on and would recommend anyone to visit if your craving some good traditional Greek food, the service was very attentive and the host was very welcoming and friendly throughout, one I will say is due to Covid and the windows being open we made the mistake of turning up with the correct clothing, it is a bit cold as the evening comes in but it didn't spoil what was a really enjoyable evening with some top notch food 👍👍

This place haunts me. Incredible food, especially the octopus. I don't like octopus... or squid... and this changed my actual game. The owner and staff are lovely. Truly lovely. Extremely laid back atmosphere. Inside and out. No rushing. I highly recommend ordering several dishes and eating them slowly, as they come out, with your favourite drink. And if you like wine, you're golden here.

Really friendly, personal service. Tiny place but you don't feel overcrowded, good for couples or small groups of friends. The food was authentic, tasted amazing and reasonably priced. We had the lamb special and a seafood pasta with a tomato sauce. We had been to Crete on holiday recently and it was a little bit of nostalgia when the ouzo came out at the end! Will definitely be visiting again.

Visited in July. Served by the owner of the restaurant. Very friendly and willing to explain us the menu. He was passionate in his menu and cooking. We ordered 2 main course. One is the day special, lamb chop. The order is a lamb shank. Both are very delicious. The meat were well seasoned and chargrilled to perfection. Highly recommended.

The Athens of the North (very similar to Scottish breakfast) is a huge portion so I recommend to be really hungry! Absolutely wonderful. We ordered almost one of everything vegetarian on the menu (the staff were a bit scared but we managed it no problem)! Friends booked here for our long awaited get together, and we were anticipating a top meal given Taxidi was #12 in all restaurants in Edinburgh. We were not disappointed. We were warmly welcomed, made to feel like we were in Greece with fantastic service and amazing food. We had the Fava, tratziki, and the Greek spring rolls to start with. Then we tackled this bad boy, the Vouno .....a mountain of grilled meats, slaw, pitta and chips. Wow! To finish off we had the Greek donut balls and Baklava, finished of with the Cretan spirit Raki. We had wine, beer, diet coke and it came to just over £30 a head. Fantastic value for cracking food. I would definitely recommend and we will be back 👍🇬🇷

Amazing food. Authentic greek food in Edinburgh but with a creative touch. Everything in the menu is well thought and super tasty. Great place for breakfast (grandmas omelette), lunch and dinner but also for coffee as it has great desserts too. My favourite thing on the menu is the mountain which is a mountain of delicious different types of meat, handcut chips and pita bread. New things are being added on the menu every so often as the owner is very passionate with his job.

Taxidi is the best place in Edinburgh to taste a bit of the famous Mediterranean Greek cuisine. An amazing little place on Lothian, with super friendly staff and a relaxed cosy atmosphere. The food menu is excellent! I recommend the breakfast eggs and many of the delicious pitas. One thing I have to give this place is that it's not trapped to the stereotype of what Greek cuisine is and what a Greek restaurant should look like. No! This is a place built with love, focused on providing excellent comfort food away from any pretentiousness. This is a place for anyone who wants a cozy and friendly cafe serving quality food and for people that want to disxover what contemporary Greek comfort food really tastes like. I honestly don't have enough words. Keep up the excellent standards!!!!

The food is great and the prices are reasonable. The mountain (to vounó) is probably enough for three people if you don't have gigantic appetites, make sure to order some tzatziki to go with it. Also the desserts are great, often a big let down in so many restaurants but not here, though the Greek doughnuts weren't very exciting.
