What can I say about this place?!!! Staff were really polite and friendly, the food was the best I've had in ages with a huuuuuge menu, every dish that came out (including those not on our table) looked fantastic!! Great atmosphere, you could tell lots of people are repeat customers!!🥰

My partner and I got married at the City Chambers last week and were looking for a restaurant nearby where we could enjoy a low-key meal with our family and friends. We’d ordered takeaway from Babs before but hadn’t actually been in so decided to give it a go. The staff were accomodating right from the start. There was 14 people in our wee party but it was absolutely no problem despite the fact the restaurant was so busy. The food was unreal and the service was phenomenal - plenty of vegan and vegetarian options too! Thank you so much to the team at Babs for having us and making our day extra special.

Very nice restaurant in the city centre. The menu is a mixture of Eastern Mediterranean cuisine (Lebanese, Turkish, Greek etc). There are many different options to select from. It can get quite busy, so it's better to make a reservation in advance.

Walked in, was seated, order taken food and drink brought out within 10 minutes. Lady in a pink shirt served me (didn't catch her name apologies), was extremely polite and attentive. Didn't feel for a second like I had to wait even for my receipt. Would definitely recommend.

Moroccan + Turkish restaurant in central Glasgow. I’m very picky when it comes to couscous but it was amazing. I loved the shrimps they were seasoned and cooked perfectly. However, I was disappointed as the meat was super dry. Also the prices are quite high considering I got a 1 shrimp skewer and 1 tiny beef skewer yet payed 19 pounds for such small portion. But, the place is pretty clean and the staff are very kind and friendly.

BABS is a Turkish restaurant serving one of the best chicken shawarmas I've had in a while. We didn't make a booking but were able to get a table for three at dinner time. I've never been to Turkey but the interior of BABS gives me a feel for what it'd be like. Vibrant and unpretentious. I loved the lighting. Their food is Halal. I had a hummus chicken shawarma (£12) which was served with some pitta on the side. Some of the best hummus I've had out and the chicken was grilled expertly. We were made to feel welcome and not rushed in our meal. I would re-visit without a doubt!

This is my first visit after a year and a half. I used to go there at least once a week. It wasn’t a very good visit this time, but still I like the place and would give it another try. I had the chicken hummus, which was one of my favorites, but won’t go for it again. It is still good, but not to my taste. They’ve changed it I guess. The previous version of this dish was better.

It is our first time here and we had read many good reviews about this place and we were not disappointed! The lamb shish and lamb hummus were delicious! The lamb is well seasoned and tender. Pita bread was great on its own as well. Definitely will come back to try more!

Service was very good, prompt but not pouncing. The menu was nice and clear. I've given 3 stars for food as the food was drenched in manara sauce to the point i couldn't have the bread at the base. The sauce was too overpowering for my liking and it put me off enjoying my meal. It's a shame as the sirloin steak chunks were amazing, melt in your mouth succulent. Maybe next I'll order the same minus the sauce (if possible).

Incredible food. Great location, quite central in Glasgow. The kebabs tasted great - we got chicken, lamb, halloumi. We also got the dip platter which was fantastic with pita. Staff is very polite and considerate. Premises are clean and the place overall has a good vibe.

Wondered into here a bit by accident as we couldn't get in to where we wanted and what a revelation. The food was wonderful and cooked to perfection. I had the Lamb Iskender, which I highly recommend, and it was delightful. I also had parmesan chips, and again, delicious. The staff went out of their way to cater for me and my friends yesterday. We were due to sit inside but set up a couple of tables on the street out the front so we could have a drink and enjoy the weather. Really, thanks for the hospitality. The food was great as well. I really enjoyed my meal here - 'Babs has a really authentic feel, so much so you almost forget you're in Glasgow for a second! Really clean as well. Couldn't fault the service, food arrived quickly - I ordered the Seabream (seen in photos), however I have to say the portion sizes were a bit small for the price. We were given 2 small pittas to share alongside a main each, and mine had no rice to go with it. Other than that though, the food was fantastic. Would happily go again.

I agree with some of the comments: this restaurant is a great addition to the Glasgow food scene. The place is fully and wonderfully decorated, and the quality of the food is very good. Went with 2 friends last week. Staff are friendly and cheerful. They still do not have an alcohol licence so DO bring your own booze (for just £1 extra fee). I found the quality of the meat really, really good. I had a lamb shisha and it was very tasty. However the dessert menu is quite limited. Will repeat again.

I have wanted to go here for a while, and wasn't dissapointed after going for lunch today. They serve up generous portions packed full of taste. Every plate is served beautifully colorful. They had just ran out of Donner wraps, which I was hoping to try. But our server recommended the Hummus Chicken instead, which was really juicy and very tasty. We visited here in February for the first time and the food was great. The halloumi fries were the best myself or my partner have ever eaten, and that is a bold statement! We've been thinking about them all lockdown, hence this review as we've been reminiscing! The doner burger was so fresh and juicy, if anything just a little too salty. We had grilled chicken thighs on the side and they were beautiful too, full of flavour and moisture. Cant wait to go back. The only thing that knocked a star off was that the service could have been a little friendlier.

Lovely buzz about the place, staff obviously extremely busy but service was prompt and friendly. Lovely beer selection. Food came fast, I ordered a bab's doner wrap and my friend ordered a lamb iskender with Greek fries. all tasted great, looked good. only minor was my wrap and contents were lukewarm at best, my friends was served hot. I wasn't overly bothered as we were checked on promptly, offered drinks at right time and the host had nice genuine chat. Going back soon to sample the rest and more courses as this was a flying visit before travelling. Impressive

Food fads come and go. But I have a suspicion that the current wave of kebab restaurants opening will have a difficult time ...topping (sorry) the food offered in Babs. I ordered a lamb souvlaki and garlic parmesan fries and I was not disappointed. I wasn't expecting to be asked how if like the lamb cooked - I asked for medium and it was cooked to a perfect medium. Good start. The lamb was well seasoned and flavoured. The flatbread was fresh and toasted well. The veggies were fresh and added such a nice freshness to the kebab. The fries ... Garlic and parmesan. What's not to like?!? Get them when you go. You'll love them and you'll love this place.

The chicken shish is well presented, deliciously diverse in flavours, and a pretty substantial portion size! Highly recommended. Note: they do not take bookings.

Called in whilst strolling about the city and was met with the most pleasant and welcome staff. My partner had the halloumi wrap which was huge and I had the beef Greek yoghurt wrap. All ingredients fresh and moreish, and as it was lunch we got fries included. We opted for the Greek style fries with zatar, feta and tzatziki and they were so so good, even as I write this my mouth is watering. Very enjoyable experience.

Tasty lunchtime meal, but a bit pricey... Second time at 'Babs and the food was very good as expected from my previous visit. The halloumi fries are very tasty and the doner kebab was done well. Lots of fresh accompaniments in the kebab too. Portions are very generous and a kebab each plus side to share was more than enough! It did still set us back £20 each with soft drinks, which is a bit much for a quick bite. Service was very attentive and staff were friendly and offered plenty of advice on menu options. Would recommend a visit if you haven't been!

This is a great place with food inspired from different Mediterranean cuisines. It has a great variety plates inspiref from Greece, Turkey, Italy, Lebanon and more and it does a great job combining all of them perfectly. The atmosphere is nice and friendly. The baklava is also very tasty!

Absolutely the best Shawarma we've ever had. The Halloumi fries too. Really reasonable price, given it's one of the best meals we've had in years. Shame you can't book a table and you are sometimes in for a long wait (especially if you are an odd number of people e.g 3 or 5) - but to be honest the food is so good that once you do get a seat, all is well with the world again.

I tried the vegan gyros from 'BABS last night and I was blown away. The vegan tzatziki was phenomenal, the "chicken" had a lovely flavour, especially the charred bits and the flatbread was really soft and great for soaking up the juices. Super impressed at how fresh it all was and would definitely buy again. Also the woman at the door who gave me my takeaway had a lovely attitude and only wish I could of had her as my server.

I actually left Glasgow this king I’ll have to come back just to try this place again. You don’t need a large budget to eat here either as the menu is very reasonably priced. Has quickly become one of my favourites in Glasgow. Cracking, good quality food that has a feel of authenticity. Have now had the Chicken Hummus Shawarma and the Chicken and Lamb Shish. The starters are delicious dips which set up the main course very well. Authentic Mediterranean drinks are very good, too. There are no reservations, so pitch up to get a place. Cannot recommend highly enough. The food is terrific, great menu selection and very reasonably priced but the main event is the service. The restaurant operates on a no bookings basis but my wife was keen to go for her birthday as a table of ten at prime time on a Friday night. The manager and her staff were so accommodating, asking for one member of the party to arrive a little earlier just to confirm and then started to set aside space for our party. They also set me up with a seat at the bar to wait with a drink while I awaiting the rest of the party. The staff also made a nice fuss over my wife for her birthday. Really next level service and very deserving of repeat business.

I didn't know what to expect, but I'm glad I chose Babs for today's lunch. I love Mediterranean food and I cook it well myself so I'm normally disappointed by Glasgow Mediterranean restaurants. Not Babs. We've had a fantastic meal - lamb iskender, baba ganoush with octapus and grilled veggies and a generously sized Greek salad. Fantastic quality, well served and in good atmosphere (great music - including one of my favourite Greek singers, pretty obscure to most, I didn't expect to hear that in a restaurant in Glasgow). All in all, top marks for quality, authenticity and friendliness! We'll be back soon!

Went in for a late lunch on Saturday and the restaurant was quarter full. Very attentive staff and nice selection of dishes (which I was told had changed from their 1st week after opening following feedback). We had the Chicken Shish and Pork Souvlaki and both were delicious. Good portions and very well presented. Had a side of flatbread and aubergine dip, which was smoky, but nice. We tried to order the freshly made Baklava for dessert, but the Manager suggested we order an alternative, as it hadn't set yet. Thought that was decent of them. So went back today and tried it...delicious!! Will definitely be back again.

Been there three times now and always had a decent plate of food. Lunchtime deals pretty good two things off the menu for a tenner. Options are all tasty grilled meats salad and flat bread with some chips to up your carb count. Chicken and lamb always seems much more tasty off the grill and I love the pickled chillies head along if your bored with a Greggs lunch five days a week.

The problem is they don't do table reservations which may embarrasse you if you bring on some guests. Just like what happened to me. I phoned them on a Sunday afternoon to book a table for 6 people at 7 pm. They told me and I Quote "we don't do pre-booking but it is a Sunday night and the restaurant will not be crowded, so finding a table will not be an issue" However, when my guests and I arrived, the place was busy, and we had to wait for an hour or so to get a table!!! Do you see what I mean! I was very disappointed and I had to apologized for my people. I wanted every thing to be organized but I couldn't. There was no restaurant manager to talk to, and none of the staff served us a complimentary drinks or some thing like that to make it up for us. I have been in similar situations before in different places, where we received a complimentary drinks or complimentary dessert or what so ever in addition to sincere apology from restaurants managers themselves. Which is of course so professional. Oh well, life goes on!

From the lovely folk who brought us Bread Meat Bread now bringing the same standards to kebabs as they did to burgers. They set a high bar and have somehow managed to pass it. By following much the same plan that made their burger joints so successful - fresh local produce, cooked to perfection and served by friendly, happy and efficient staff - they've given kebabs a similar makeover to the one they have burgers. The menu has enough choices to have something for everyone without going overboard. I much prefer a menu that means the kitchen gets stuff right rather than so much choice you know there are going to be rarely made duffers in there. So far everything we've had has been perfect. Cooked just right, seasoned to perfection and presented beautifully whilst avoiding fuss and pretension. The restaurant itself has a rather less frenetic feel compared to BMB, at least on the times we've visited. Its less prominent location probably helping there. It's warm and welcoming, bright and manages to feel quite sunny and Mediterranean even on the coldest Glasgow days. One of the greats.

New restaurant by the people that brought you the meh Bread Meats Bread. Shared starter of Baba ganoush was nice, though it's difficult to mess this up if your ingredients are fresh. Waited 25 minutes between starter clearance and main course. Chicken shish was ok but I've had better for less money in Glasgow. Shawarma fries were grossly over salted to the point of being inedible. Baklava was a little dry, though the Turkish coffee was excellent. Service was pleasant but way too slow. Price wasn't very high but more than the food or service deserved. BYOB when I visited but wasn't advertised as such outside the restaurant.

The free range chicken spiedini was cooked to perfection with marinara sauce, served with veg and in house delicious focaccia. Shawarma chips and homemade arancini absolutely delicious. Staff were very friendly and helpful, we really enjoyed our visit here. I thought prices were very generous considering the quality of food and the portions.
