Reviews of Baby Grand Bar & Grill
N. W.
The starter I had was delightful, the hummus was rich in its taste, enhanced by the avocado and the pitta bread was a wonderful addition to it.
For the main, I had Grand Mac and Cheese and it was a delight. The texture and taste of it was wonderful and the jalapenos really elevated it for me. For the dessert I had the spiced plums and it was the perfect terminus for the courses, with it's sweet and spicy plums and cream with the biscuit-crunch leaving me very satisfied with what they have offered.
Overall, I enjoyed my time in Baby Grand, the staff are wonderful, the beers I've had are great and the food has been fantastic, served brilliantly with not too long of a wait. Fully recommended to anyone who visits or lives in Glasgow
R. G.
The staff were friendly and helpful, the food arrived quickly, the restaurant and toilets were clean. The food was exellent, really delicious. The pre-theatre menu is 2 courses for £14.95, so a fantastic price, especially considering the quality and portion size of the food. I will be very happy to return to this restaurant. Highly recommend.

Absolutely fantastic food, the salt beef is one to try! A superb chef deserves all the credit, sadly we had a very poor front of house, well one in particular, forgot a drinks order, fork, a side dish, was told the bread couldn't be toasted (but it was), was told they didn't have mustard (they did), side dish came out after the main, spilt a drink which happens but no apology, was told we'd have the side taken off the bill but didn't, we ordered a bagel but got toast and generally very very slow. It's a real shame because the food was outstanding, we asked to pass on a thank you to the chef but wasn't passed on.
However it's a must go to place.

Food was lovely and the new set up of the restaurant since I was last there was stunning. Only problem was the service. We only got our drinks when we were nearly finished our starters. After our dessert no-one came to remove our plates and ask us if we wanted coffee etc which we did. We waited for a bit then ended up forgetting about coffee and walking to front of restaurant where 2 staff where sitting and paid for our meal. A bit disappointing end but it won't stop us going back.
D. L.
The food and the service are always great here. The sandwich had no avocado as described. The staff took it in good humour.
K. D.
Lovely clean friendly place for a drink and the music was great. I just love a piano bar
I. D.
Lovely food, excellent service, would highly recommend.
M. G.
Didn't want anything off the pre theatre menu but that is the only menu they have .Nice wee restaurant but too pricy.
J. D.
Great little restaurant close to Charing Cross Station. It's been there for over 30 years so that should tell you something.
A. K.
Absolutely first class food and service. Pre theatre menu was very good value at £14.95 for two courses. The sticky toffee pudding was the best I have tasted in a long time.
A. K.
Staff and food were first class. Pre theatre menu was very good value at £14.95 for two courses. The sticky toffee pudding was the best I have tasted in a long time. Had been looking forward to anything with Raclette but wasn't on the pre theatre menu. Fortunately that means I will have to return another day.
G. L.
Staff were lovely and the music was good. Our only gripe was that two older gentlemen who appeared to be the owners perhaps, came swanning in wearing no face coverings and wandered around for a lengthy period talking to staff at length. It's not difficult so show some respect to the rest of us please.
R.
A choice of 3 menus gave an excellent choice of meals. Even had a window seat with a view of the Mitchell library. Staff were helpful and attentive. Would definitely recommend.
J. R.
Food was good, unfortunately they were understaffed due to a staff member being sick which meant waiting a little longer for our meals.
As we were in a hurry to go to the theatre we asked for our bill as we got our mains, paid by card (didn't scrutinise the bill) wasn't till I paid that I realised that I was charged for drinks that we didn't order £15 worth, spoke to manager who said that his assistant would deal with me, she refunded my money and apologised. I would advise checking the bill as when we were leaving someone else had a dispute with theirs.Makes me wonder if this was a one off or they are hoping that no one realises the mistake as they too are in a hurry.
M. A. P.
Food was good, this was just a quick lunch, didn't get that welcoming feeling, staff could do a ltlle bit better.
C. B.
What an amazing place to listen to lovely live music, and sip nice wine.
E. W.
Quickly writing this as I still remember, it was mine and my significant others anniversary, we didn't expect much from the outside but once seated we had an amazing time.
The service, atmosphere, and love music right beside us was fantastic, and can I say the young lady who served us Kaitlen was particularly fantastic.
J. A.
Was quiet when we visited but looked nice, was very relaxed and spotlessly clean.
A. L.
Favourite haunt in my younger days, it's expanded and still has a 'cool' atmosphere
L. H.
First time here despite it being a stone's throw from work. Absolutely loved it. Angus Burger was superb and even better sitting outside in the sunshine. Will definitely be back.
P. W.
Great place... Neck Oil on tap, great pianist for atmosphere and attentive staff. What more could you want.
Seek them out as they're off the beaten track.
D. S.
A great pre theatre menu once again. Worth a try
T. B.
Its a cute quirky location great staff fantastic range wines. great in summer to just sit outside enjoy glass wine in sunshine. worth a visit.
S. C.
Good coffee, good cake, pleasant staff, and a great atmosphere. Will keep coming back
S. G.
Food was tasty and a nice informal atmosphere
D. M.
Great bar with a good atmosphere and friendly staff
A. B.
Met friends who travelled into Glasgow by train. Perfectly situated for Charing Cross Station. Friendly staff, reasonably priced drinks, very clean and inviting.
K. G.
Went here a couple of times during my Uni days and it was a little run down, average coffee etc.
Went last night for dinner and wow has the place improved.
The lamb and parmasean fries was amazing and the service; excellent also.
Highly recommended.
K. M.
Had dinner with some friends last night. The staff were excellent, food was delicious and the restaurant was very relaxed and comfortable with plenty of outdoor seating. Can't wait to come back when the live jazz is back.
M. M.
Great place for lunch or pre theatre meal. One,two or three courses and an a la carte menu available. Good choices and competitively priced. Friendly staff. We were a party of 10 and everyone enjoyed themselves. Having a pianist play a Baby Grand piano adds a very special touch.
N. F.
Disappointing arrived around 19:30 and its already closed.
D. P.
I've only been here for their breakfasts, which used to be very good a few years back but seem to have gone downhill a lot in the past year. Given you're paying a premium for breakfast you'd expect quality produce but it seems of late they're using cheaper ingredients. Their coffees are also quite small.
The venue is very nice looking especially the baby grand piano but I'd say if you're visiting for the breakfast you should try out a few other places for comparison.
Y. R.
The Baby Grand is a nice little bar and much improved since it was extended a year or so back. They now have a full restaurant facility which is worth a try. Drinks prices are not the cheapest but you pay for the pleasant environment I guess.
j. g.
Arrived earlier than planned but wasn't a problem as lunchtime buzz was over. Advised that afternoon tea might be a bit of a wait as not yet prepared. We ordered a coffee each while we relaxed. Surprised when minutes later out came glass of presseco and tray of wraps, quiche, sandwiches, scone/cakes etc. Had to ask for pot if tea/ coffee, part of deal. Certainly not freshly made as bread bit stale on top and haggis roll slice surface hard. Rest of plates quite nice. Service very attentive. Average value for what paid but grossly overpriced if at "full" price which is the case with most of these deals
A. F.
My friends
And I had Lovely night, the meal service was excellent, all the staff where so nice,It was Special
Birthday for one of our friends , the young lady that look after us last night was so nice.We will be back.
I hope very soon. Ann x Friends.

Great Glasgow institution and the additional space has really opened up the space. I have not given it 5 stars as I have yet to eat an evening meal there so can't make an assesment of the food. However the service is very good and friendly ,coffee and drinks are great and the piano playing is wonderful.
T. P.
The bottomless Yorkshire puddings on Sunday was a fun idea, but we would perhaps of preferred quality over quantity.
Not the best food, other roast lunches in town are significantly better, but it was inexpensive and the staff were excellent.
m. a.
Meal was lovely,staff very attentive,nice cosy,clean
I. K.
Pre theatre meal before going to kings. Service, food, ambience all very , very good, and very attentive to an allergy in one of the party by itemising what was suitable in the menu, and for some items offering to change the dish slightly to accommodate the allergy. Will definitely go again. First class
G. M.
A lively place to meet up with friends after seeing them performing in a show at the King's, however very disappointing that last orders were called at 10:45pm when the bar is supposed to be opened till midnight. We'd only had one round by the time they rang the bell (Wednesday 3rd April). It's a shame as a lot of the cast, crew and their guests were in and it must have lost them a lot of money.
n. S.
Its a shame the service let things down a little on friday
B. K.
Great breakfast. Great location. Friendly staff.
j. C.
Went on the Saturday evening without booking ( tablet of 2) staff were very fendly and the atmosphere welcoming with the piano being played. Food was realy nice and prices good value. Will definitely be back.
S. B.
Lovely food with big size portions ,romantic piano music which provides a chilled relaxing atmosphere, excellent staff which were very friendly, chatty and welcoming. Great selction of wines and beers, highly recommended.
T. A.
A hidden gem. A warm welcome, good beer and lovely inexpensive food awaits if you take a short step from sauchiehall st to find Baby Grand. A step above most of the offerings on the Charing Cross end of Sauchiehall st. I was staying in the premier inn next door and came here every night. Also good for pre theatre meal if fellow dinners are anything to go by! A real pianist some nights. Just lovely.
S. M.
First video sit tonight, had fixed price menu £14.99 for two courses, can be either starter and main or main and dessert, chose fish & skinny fries with tarter sauce, best fish & I've had in ages
Chose Afogato for dessert, again delicious 😋
Would definitely recommend and will be back
Service was also excellent
J. H.
Excellent high tea.. Taste sensation.. Passion fruit Gin teapots were amazing..service was spot on every need was catered for. Location literally 20steps from train station.. 👌

One of Glasgow's hidden gems.
Great services, amazing food, delicious cocktails and fab atmosphere.
G. O.
This small bar and restaurant has been around for many years. The food is good and the live music from the baby grand piano that is tucked into the heart of the room adds much to the character of the venue.
M. M.
We've eaten here before when in Glasgow for a concert. Pre-theatre meals always good value, foods great as is the service and atmosphere and house wine is very respectable.
A. B.
This a fairly small bar but rarely overcrowded and has a really nice atmosphere. There is often piano player at the baby grand, yes there actually is one and the staff are pleasant and well trained.
L. R.
Food, drinks and service were really good. Unfortunately a lot of menu items weren't available. Definitely worth to go if you stay in a hotel in the area.
D. B.
Great wee piano bar/restaurant/cafe, full of character (that has recently expanded its premises!), in a very convenient location for Charing cross train station & Theatre Royal; Opened till at least 1am (certainly on Sat night), where they're happy to serve tea still after midnight! It's almost an 'institution' in Glasgow! It sometimes hosts different events, eg. Salsa night etc.
L. G.
What a beautiful hidden gem 💎 service was fantastic n food on point .. definitely going back soon
S. L.
A hidden gem. Don't be put off by the close proximity to the tawdry shop next door. Warm welcome from the staff with some pleasant piano playing awaits.
A. M.
Excellent lunch. Service was a little slow as only 2 serving staff on for lunch service. However, staff were very helpful and very chatty.
N. S.
Popped in for a cocktail when passing. Staff members friendly and attentive.
G. M.
We were only in for a late drink before getting the train so was close to closing but the staff did not let that bother them were all friendly and attentive
K. D.
Nice ambience, a pianist playing soothing music. Had Moules Marinera. Tasty. Good choice and reasonable pre theatre menu.
P. M.
Yeah love this place. Good food cocktails and atmosphere. Just the bar maid was a bit smelly she must not wash them dreads.
b. b.

S. D.
Have been coming here for years but this is the first time back after it's renovation great atmosphere, food and service as always.
K. M.
Starter was excellent but main was average. Food prices are competitive but drink is a little punchy.
K. M.
Good food and decent surroundings. Not flash and not in a great area but the quality of the food compensates, and it is not expensive.
B. L.
Great atmophere, and most evenings there's someone playing the name-sake instrument and usually playing it well. Good choice of drinks and food.
