Updated Aug 27 2022 I don't know what's happened. I ordered the same meal, there was one sliver of beef, no chicken and a few prawns. Portion was half of what you see in the pictures. Flavour was still great but I also got food poisoning from it this time. I'm gutted. Bringing it down from 5 to 3 stars. Old review: Absolutely loved it here and can't wait to go back! The food actually had spice in it, tasted authentic, the portions were MASSIVE, the mocktail was tasty and the service was excellent! I'm salivating just thinking about it. 🤤 We had the Korean fried chicken, red curry and Singapore noodles!

Food and cocktails at Bar Soba are fantastic. The satay sauce is amazing, I would very much recommend the nasi goreng which comes with an egg and it’s perfect. I wanted to mark it down a little as being as I sat outside when you order drinks to the table and it took 25 minutes even though it wasn’t busy. That being said I have been back frequently.

Absolutely wonderful food and people. Honestly couldn't have asked for better service as they were lovely and really quick with any requests. Got quite a lot of food and drinks (4 of us eating and sides) and there were no complaints at all. Its relatively good price wise too as all of the food was delicious and not hellish expensive! We hired an area for a birthday party last night and we can’t praise the place and the staff enough. Brooke was so helpful and went out of her way to make sure the place looked as we asked and nothing was a problem. Luke was our own personal bar man and he was amazing. Everyone commented on how great they both were. The food was gorgeous, the atmosphere was great and we all had a fantastic time!

The service here was pretty terrible. It was the last Saturday before Christmas at around 5:30pm and it was relatively quiet, definitely not full. We waited about 20 mins for our drinks to arrive and only because we asked where they were. The cocktails were nothing to write home about. The food was lacklustre and there wasn’t a lot there for the price. We waited 15 mins for the second round of drinks and had to ask twice for the bill. I won’t be back as it’s overpriced and overrated

I had a great meal here with my boyfriend. We each had a starter, a main with a side, and a cocktail each. The Yellow Dragon is a very cool cocktail, and nice for the decent weather we're having just now. The food was delicious. The portions aren't the biggest, but it was a great taste. The problem, thankfully knocked back by his student card, was the price. If we didn't have 50% off food I don't think we would have come here.

Great experience! Service was friendly and fast, the food diverse, flavorful and on point. The ribs we got were a bit cold, which should not have happened. But, all in all, the experience was great!

Staff were excellent, polite and helpful. Drinks were ordered and delivered speedily, the food order similarly efficiently taken and delivered back to our table. We both had the 2 course for £9 offer which meant that the starter and main arrived together. (which was perfectly fine) as we were on a bit of a time crunch anyway. The fried dumplings were lovely, really tasty and piping hot. The main was also delicious. Overall a really good experience. Would recommend.

Unique food experience in the heart of city. The decor is modern and super cool, with comfy seating and graffiti walls. Food might not be to everyone's taste as the it is a combination of flavours you might not thought of combining. Firstly chips or chips with peanut butter is a must try!! Good selection of vegetarian food as well. Good place to go for a lunch break as service is quite fast. Staff is very funny and friendly.

There's several Bar Soba dotted around the city now and they are all similar which I suppose is inevitable, why change a trusted formula? This one has seating outside and a smart interior with a dedicated bar area and the restaurant area in one largish room space. Bar Soba is not the cheapest so beware.

I love this place. The food is amazing (I've been several times and always get something different and nothing has disappointed thus far) and the drinks are nice too. Only down side is that it's pretty expensive, but they have a really good deal for students available Mon through Thurs. Despite how good it is I think without the deal it is a little overpriced for their targeted customers.

It is a fun spot! Located in Merchant Square, which has several restaurants located around an atrium, the place is lively with a great drinks menu. Their gin and tonic selection is extensive! Great vegetarian Asian food options available. Tasty green curry and pad Thai. The only reason I didn't give it a higher review is that they lost our order from the scanned menu and we were waiting for a long time before they fixed it.

Ordering is done online - once you've registered and given your details. No option for tap water. There's a card transaction fee. Really feels like buying plane tickets. Just a really unpleasant user experience. Once ordered though, service was great. Friendly and professional. Food was very tasty. A big issue with ordering online was that half of the table got their main course and dessert - and finished eating - before the other half of the table even had their mains brought. We had to ask the staff if they could help. Obviously that's not a great experience. Apparently there was no toilet paper in the ladies toilets. And our water glasses had lipstick on. Overall I don't think I would return. While the food was good, the online ordering was unpleasant and caused issues with timing. There were plenty of staff on hand to help - which was great - and they were helpful and understanding. But overall, there's too much potential for a bad time.

The staff was very friendly, food was good but we waited for more than 50 minutes for our meals to be cooked. When the food arrived, half of the sides were cold and the table we booked was quite dirty (crumbs and tissues all over the place).

Servers were really nice but the food took over an hour and a half to come. 5 meals came together and then there was further wait of 10 minutes for the last person which meant food was not very hot. Serving sizes were quite small for two dishes even though they were 'large plates' in comparison to the other dishes. Food was good, if a bit cold.

Popped in here on a whim and then had a fantastic asian meal , sat inside as the classical concert in the central area of the Hall was so loud that we couldnt hear ourselves. Inside theres plenty of seats and some funky artwork on the walls , we were served quickly and had Bang Bang chicken wings in satay sauce for a starter and then I had the Singapore street noodles and the GF had Nasi Goreng .. amazing food ,terrific flavour and just so good , add in the great service from the staff and the value of a city centre meal for 2 for less than £50 makes this well recommended.

The food and drinks themselves were lovely but the service was somewhat lacking. Our food got to our table slowly in stages because the staff seemed confused about what food was at what table. When it came to ordering a second round of drinks. Half the drinks came 20 minutes later and some never arrived until we reminded our server who then brought more drinks 10 minutes later but one person still never got the Pepsi they ordered half an hour earlier and no one seemed very apologetic about the wait. We decided to finish our night elsewhere. I would have understood if the place was packed but it was only about 3 quarters full. We also asked to split our bill but the server charged it all to one card even though the rest of us sat there with our cards out

Located within the beautiful Merchant Square, this place has a great atmosphere. Good choice of dishes on the menu, at a decent price and they have an extensive cocktail list too. Food was fresh and delicious, especially the sharing plates which we all agreed we could easily have ordered instantly again. Place is popular with groups, so can get noisy and service was very slow. Member of staff did apologise for the wait though.

This is one of the many restaurants located inside Merchant City. As you have a large number of restaurants located in an enclosed space made of hard surfaces it gets extremely loud and it can be tough to carry on a conversation. This place seems to attract groups. It is popular and gets busy but they have a large number of tables. If there is a wait it should not be too long. The food is decent but not great. We ordered steamed dumplings and 1/3 of them had lost all of their fillings while cooking. I do not recommend ordering them as a result. The fried chicken curry was missing something and as a result was a bit on the bland side. Also note it is just fried chicken, white rice, and sauce. The fried pork was similar, pork, rice sauce, and a weak effort to include a very, very small amount of vegetables. The service was good and the price was reasonable. But to can get better food at a similar price around town.

Great food great cocktails and thing's in place to minimise covid19 spread👍 One week later not much I'm place one member of staff wearing a mask.... it's table service so the staff are carrying food and drinks🤔🤔 mask's should be worn as it made me feel safe....also the table's were closer together this week compared to last week leaving no social distance in place....not to mention we were billed over £50 extra on our bill which was rectified after about an hour of back and forth with staff and management 😠😠😠very disappointed indeed compared to the week before. To add insult not even a drink was offered in compensation 😠by the time the whole thing was sorted out our nice feeling from our cocktails had worn off. It was my cousin's birthday so thankful the company was great and not all was ruined.

Had booked a boozy brunch with 3 other friends early afternoon which included a sharing platter to start, a main course and 4 cocktails. The bar wasn’t overly busy and it took at least 35 mins after being sat at our table before being asked what we would like to drink. It states on the menu you can only order 1 cocktail per head at a time and due to covid we only had the table for 2 hours. The cocktails took ages to come and we kept having to try and catch a member of staffs attention to order our next drink. Due to the slow service we managed to only JUST squeeze in our third cocktail having to drink it in one go as it arrived as our time was up. We were wondering if the service was deliberately slow so we wouldn’t get our money’s worth. If we hadn’t kept catching the staffs attention for ordering drinks we would have only had 2 drinks in 2 hours. Love bar soba but the service was extremely slow even though the bar wasn’t overly busy when we were in.

Been to this restaurant a few times now and I am never disappointed. From the moment you walk in the staff are friendly and attentive, I've never had to wait to be seated. The food on offer is delicious, food doesn't always taste exactly the same as the last time you went but this is most likely due to using fresh ingredients and not pre-packaged, regardless the food is always delicious. Cannot recommend enough.

Have ate in Bar Soba twice now (second time in mitchel lane). Both times i ended up with an upset stomach. Food is nice but very rich and way over seasoned. Dumplings and cheesburger springrolls are nice though. Very few staff working the night we were there so service was slow. Staff were lovely though.
