Lovely food. Great service. If we were local we'd go again for a special meal. Prices more expensive than we'd usually pay but it was a lovely venue - would be even nicer on a summers evening! Only disappointment was that I couldn't swap my mash for chips as "it's not allowed". We had amazing deserts too!

Awkward service, low quality food at high(ish) prices. Lovely fit out and atmosphere I just wish they'd spent more time on quality training and food. Eg multiple times we had our food almost taken from our table while still eating. Also, we made a point of ordering our toddlers food immediately asking for it to come as early as possible, it didn't. We got our food before our toddlers. They got the order wrong and the quality and portions were poor. £7.50 for 3 tiny fried balls of macNcheese. Cold chicken tacos with barely any chicken £8.50. I understand that times are tough but this was crazy. Lasagne was tasty but probably down to it being super salty. Fish and chips were good. No check back on our table until we were about finished our meals. When i asked for the bill , they brought it and she just stood at my shoulder waiting for me to pay insisting I check the bill there and then. Super weird and awkward. I wanted to pay with cash and as I saw her hold a card machine I told her this, she just said ok and made me feel like I had to pay there and then, watching me count the notes from my wallet. I can't see me rushing back I'm afraid.

My family and I ( party of 8) had a lovely meal here tonight for our granddaughters 7th birthday. Food was absolutely delicious, service was excellent from very well mannered and helpful staff. We even took a birthday cake along which the staff brought to table after our meal much to the delight of Millie. Would highly recommend a visit.

Our first visit to the Boat Yard since its makeover, and we were not disappointed. From arrival to departure, the service was first class, and the food was amazing too. A highly enjoyable evening celebrating my sons and granddaughters joint birthday. The fact that there were no free tables says it all! Highly recommended

Food was lovely! Burger was slightly overcooked but was still very tasty! Fish and chip were nice and crispy 😁 kids' desert of 3 scoops of ice cream (candy shop), haribos choc ice cream was a bit steep as very basic.. mushy peas were flavoursome.. Decor standard was above 5 stars and toilets were very clean and hygienic and very well decorated. Coffees were aromatic. Thought that staff could have been a bit more down to earth as they seemed a bit rigid to make experience more personal and welcoming etc. Overall, good experience and 100% satisfied. 🙂👍 Thank you! 😁

Visited today with sisters and was really impressed by the beautiful renovation and lovely atmosphere. The staff are extremely friendly, pleasant and welcoming and the food delicious. Will definitely be back! 😆

This is a lovely restaurant but unfortunately the service let's it down. My husband and I popped in for lunch and it was more than fifteen minutes before someone took our drinks /food order. There appeared to to be one person taking the orders which caused such a delay. This is such a pity because it's a lovely restaurant.

Food was very good. The only complaint I have is that the window table seems to be a cold spot after sitting for about 30mins we were both feeling the chill. So much so that my wife had to put my jacket round her shoulders. I know this is probably a minor complaint and it was cold outside but it did detract from the overall experience. Will not stop me returning just not to that seat.😀👍

Food is amazing, service is at times lacking, however after a visit on Sunday it has definitely become a lot better. The atmosphere is lovely and the new decor is gorgeous. On Sunday when we went my 14 year old asked for a beef burger but I didn't realise there wasn't one on the menu. They delivered a "smash" burger which he moaned about and when I tried it I realised why. It was disgusting. I said to a waiter and he swapped it for a kids beef burger. They were very prompt with this and didn't charge us for it so I was very pleased about that. The only issue I would say which is an issue in numerous restaurants at the moment, is that the tomato sauce is rationed and I kept having to ask for more. We were in and out of the restaurant very quickly and they were very efficient. Would recommend.

Food was nice and decoration is lovely. Had to ask 3 times for a children's menu though and 4 times for a high chair so it was all a bit delayed. Otherwise nice.

Impressive venue and great atmosphere. Good selection of food choices if you are Gluten free. Impressed that the GF menu is extensive compared to other restaurants. Ordered tempura chicken which was amazing. Have to say I was very disappointed with my Chicken faitas. Quality of food excellent, tasted bland with no bite to the sauce or flavour and skillet came "wet" with too much sauce. I guess this is the recipe used here but would have been better if it was on a sizzilng skillet with more intense flavour of sauce. Did mention this to the manager at the time as I did not finish my meal. I have put it down to that one dish, as my wife's meal was delicious and everything else was fab. Definitely will try again in future, just a bit off on our first visit hence only 4 star. ☹️

Food was nice and portions were decent. Most of the waiters were nice. They were out of a few things on the set menu but they said it had been really busy. Overall it was a bit expensive for what you got (£28 for 2 courses, although I live in the city centre so maybe I'm just spoiled for choice lol) but it was nice.

Gorgeous place My food & desserts were lovely, however told the waiter my husband's lasagne was awful, just like a sauce & cheese, he said chef not had a complaint about this since opening all pre made, I felt we were dismissed for saying this, didn't want a refund or another dish which most restaurants would have offered, was just letting them know so they can keep an eye on it, dealt with in wrong manner in my opinion!! Will be back however not for lasagne

The renovated Boatyard is looking fabulous, and extra special with the Christmas deccies. Food marked down a star as I had the Punkind & Sage ravioli , which was a bit clawey. I'm assuming because it was a combined vegan/veggie option (only one on the festive menu) there was no egg in the pasta of cheese. Its a wee bit frustrating these days when restaurants combine what were veggie options into vegan ones - sometimes, like this, taste suffers. Keep your veggie options please whilst catering also for vegans.

Had dined at old lochhouse three times monthly prior to renovation.Sadly returned to boatyard today and disappointed with cluttered new decor, definitely overdone.No atmosphere in premises and due to open exspanse noise level very high. Service slow between courses though food remains good. Food portions extremely good though pricing increased. We felt it had lost it’s old ambience and possibly changed to cater for younger generation.This had always been one of our favourite restaurants but sadly will not be returning.

1st time at the Boatyard taking my son for a birthday meal with his girlfriend. Starters chicken tacos were lovely, chicken tempura hmm 🤔 so so. My son had the sliders as a main and enjoyed them. His girlfriend and I had the fajitas which were very bland. No fajita seasoning on them at all only tomato puree so needed salt and pepper to taste anything. Mentioned it to the waitress who then spoke to the chef who said ahh yeah they are mild if you wanted them spicier you'd have had to say!! There was no fajita seasoning at all! Very disappointed and wouldn't rush back 😕

Wasn't the best had tandoori prawns starter not very tandoori wasn't happy about maincourse lamb cutlets tandoori were a bit raw in places waited a long time on maincourse somebody came and apologized so I complained but no feed back from kitchen duty manager came over got not a really good response from him used to go a lot before refurbishment but definitely not the same quality very disappointing

Decor beautiful, but disappointed with food, got prawn cocktail, not jumbo tempura prawns as stated on menu and no lime, shredded lettuce, tiny prawns in sauce and half a cherry tomato, bread on side, I got main portion size of chicken tempura which was ok, but just looked dumped on plate, wee bit of garnish would have made a difference....

Closed for a year and reopened last week rebranded as The Boat Yard. Flat car park with disabled spaces marked at the door an ramp access is a welcome improvement. No wheelchair issues except access to the toilets is a little cramped Friendly and welcoming staff. The menu has changed a little but the Gluten free menu has been improved greatly, and the attention to “free from” is most welcome However for our table of five one dink was missed from the order, and the served incorrectly. One meal was served with no veg. Another main was served with boiled instead of mashed potato, the mash was brought eventually and added to the bill as an extra side order. And one of the three sweets requested was served with no ice cream. All in all the decor has changed but the service we experienced has declined. All the above problems were brought to attention discreetly before the bill was presented, but still we were charged for food we did not order and did not receive what we did pay for. We were Driving home to England and looking for somewhere to stop off for breakfast googled what was nearby and found the Loch House just off the A737 so didn't really divert off our route home, beautiful setting with views overlooking a Loch, when we went in was greeted by a lovely lady cheerful and friendly as were all the staff. The menu had a lovely selection on it and the food was delicious really can't recommend this place enough just sorry we were on our way home so we couldn't get to sample the evening menu as well and credit to the staff for some fabulous customer service.

Lovely food, a really varied menu, really polite and friendly staff, such a nice atmosphere and a killer cocktail menu which is always a personal favourite of mine in any restaurant. Great value for money too. Furious with myself that I've passed this place for years without taking any notice. I went in today just to use the facilities and the smell of the food was lovely, so I decided to come back later and was not disappointed! only thing to note were the home cut chips were a little soggy and not as crisp as I normally like -- but aside from that, all was fantastic!

Always love my dining experiences at The Loch House. The waiters and waitresses are 100% on the ball every time, and unbelievably friendly! Being a vegan with, also, a severe peanut allergy I found plenty of options here for starters, mains, sides, and desserts. This particular time I ordered the honey-root veg burger with cajun sweet potato fries. Although it says honey root vegetable on the menu, I did ask our waiter to check to see if it contained actual honey (which wouldn't make it vegan) but it doesn't have honey in it. For dessert it ordered the vegan browie with vanilla ice cream (vegan too of course). Both dishes were honestly out of this world delicious 😋 see you again soon, Loch House!
