Reviews of Chinaskis
T. P.
COOL BAR. If you’re venturing to the West End from central then pop in here for one.
Chilled bar area and nice beer garden. Staff could have maybe been a bit more attentive and less on their phones (it was quiet when I went in but still, it doesn’t look good).
The beer garden is small, but plenty of seating area.
W.
Great food. Good DJ. Staff too busy to look you in the eye though. Difficult to get service at the bar. Would go again when it's quiet perhaps.
H. N.
Had the most delicious meal 😋 quirky friendly atmosphere and fantastic service from the two girls. Would highly recommend and cannot wait to come back.
A. K. G.
Cozy bar, cool music, friendly service👌
H. F.
Best bar in Glasgow! Not cheap but plenty of ambience and decent bar food too. Outdoor space has been improved with heaters and roofing now.
g. f.
Great spot to drop by for a drink or two. Nice heated outdoor area if you cant get inside. Friendly staff and great atmosphere.
G. M.
Great bar in a convenient location. Not overly priced either.
w. k.
Amazing pub with fantastic food, on par with many high end restaurants in my opinion. Large outdoor area perfect for summer and a cosy candle lit interior for winter. Only downside is a small selection of cider :(
D. R.
I'm not really a fan of the main bar area, but the beer garden is excellent and is probably the only reason I would go there (that and the Weihenstephaner on tap).
T. B.
Looking forward to Marc Donaghy playing there on the 19th of March so you know the music is going to be top notch.
R. S.
Food was great, waitresses were lovely. I was a wee bit annoyed that the menu online wasn't available on th day. However, the service and food was so good I couldn't mark down for it
K. M.
Great wee bar with a huge amount of outdoor space. Can recommend their own brews, they're decent. Good food too.
Q. M.
Great cocktails, not cheap though
A. S.
Fab staff, great service, plenty atmosphere and cocktails worth their weight in gold
W. Y. H.
Went to Chinaskis a few days ago. It was busy but the staff were still extremely attentive and warm. The drinks were amazing and the overall atmosphere was immaculate. 10/10 would go again.
M.
Great bourbon and cocktails, really laid back atmosphere. Dog friendly. Great seating options outside
S. M.
This is a very good bar. Decent music and excellent staff who are helpful, friendly and motivated. It is cool without being intimidating and hipster.
There is no fuss about having an enjoyable evening. In summer, there is a terrace at the back for al fresco drinking.
Z. D.
Great food and drink, service is really welcoming and friendly with a nice crowd. The garden out the back is pretty big with some heating and a balcony sort of area - outdoor all closes from 10pm though. The inside at night is dimly candlelit and I'd consider it romantic, but also good for drinks with friends.
w. l.
Lovely cosy pub with an excellent variety of high quality food. This is coupled with a large yet intimate beer garden, which is a remarkable sun trap during the summer. The staff are always engaging, friendly and happy to assist. The very reasonably priced lunch menu should be checked out during the week.
M. C.
Really awesome place. Four of us ate here on a Saturday night during a trip to Glasgow and we all loved it. The quality of the food is way beyond what you may expect for a place with such a laid back feel, the menu is creative and flavours on offer tremendous. In addition, there's a great selection of drinks; beers, cocktails and wines. The best thing about this place however is the atmosphere, it looks and feels brilliantly cool, there's a real buzz about it.
A few criticisms... We were sat next the door where people were constantly walking through to the smoking area which was a bit annoying. We were waiting a while to be given menus after sitting down, the waiter however apologised and had plenty of banter with us all. The kitchen closed at fairly early meaning we couldn't have desert, we were all full so no real bother but forewarning when booking our table would have been nice.
All in all this was my favourite bar/restaurant I visited during the trip, having also tried Ubiquitous Chip the night before.
A. B.
Great bar, good staff and a friendly clientele. Large decking area out back for sunny days, or cold days if you're a smoker. Menu is varied enough for a bar and never had any issues with the food, although I haven't eaten here that many times.
Lots of beers/lager options with spirits to match. If you're a burboun drinker you have many, many choices.
D. G.
Used to spend an inordinate amount of time in Chinaskis before moving to Canada 10 years ago. How much did we love it? We still talk about it all the time. We’ll be back one day. (We used to be in enough to be on chatty terms with one particular waitress and we feel bad we just left and never said goodbye).
S. C.
Good selection of beers and nice bar for a bite to eat too, good location not too far out of city centre so worth the walk up sauchiehall street.
R. G.
Great staff who were very helpful and polite. The place was busy but still felt attended to. What keeps this place from a 5 is a lack of sign on the front of the place and the food was nothing to write home about. I can only speak for the burger and the Mac and cheese. The food was perfectly edible but only just maybe worth its price.
N. P.
Love the vibe. Poetry in the loos sells it for me. What better way to pee than reading some inspirational verse. Staff are friendly and there is a decent selection of drinks. The outside area is large and on warm summer evenings is the perfect place to relax after work.
J. P.
In for drinks on a Saturday night. Fantastic atmosphere, really good gin selection and a white Russian that was cracking.
L. W.
Best Margaritas! Lovely during the day with the seating area out side and lovely at night when it's candlelit!
K. D.
I enjoyed visiting Chinaskis when I visited Glasgow. Lovely atmosphere inside, ambient lighting, server was really nice and helpful. Food was delicious and they have a large array of when cocktail and whiskey choices. Highly recommended.
J. H.
Really cool place, with great food. I had the panko chicken and it was delicious and reasonable enough. Great selection of beers and other drinks too.
It was a little loud and warm, so more for a get-together with drinks than for a full sit down meal.
J. C.
Super hip trendy pub with large garden. Crowd is young and friendly and the staff are very friendly. The menu is wide ranging and had a good Vegan choice. However the food was a bit disappointing. Had the broccoli which was so old it was like wood. The vodka infused salmon was chewy and super disappointing.
L. G.
Lovely little bar with a nice hidden seating area out the back. I didn't know this place even existed until someone took me! Friendly staff, large outside area, good beer.
k. d.
Lovely staff. Pretty pink fountain. And Bukowski.
R. H.
Great little bar but they don't have their name on the front. Did not have any food but what impressed me was the American Whiskey collection. It's one of the best I've stumbled across sporting two Pappie van winkles and both the 18 and 21 year old Elijah Craig. If you like American Whiskey pop in for a wee dram and savor the irony that you are in Scotland enjoying the top notch American Whiskey.
D. B.
Great spot for an old fashioned. Nice selection of bourbons and drams. Food menu and chefs must have changed recently and not for the better from what I hear.
Nice to stop off if on the way somewhere...
D. G. (. G.
what a banger - kinda hard to find and there is no sign on the door - that makes it even more interesting though.
Cocktail had a touch too much lemon juice in it - but the Olive and goats cheese pizza was brilliant. They have a vegan menu too if you are into that
K. Q.
Good in the summer, nice beer garden but apparently don’t expect to go for drinks after work without being harassed to order food, or rather “everyone must order main courses”. The food is nice right enough, but found attitude unnecessarily abrupt and abrasive.
C. M.
I like this bar and tend to go to it regularly with work, their food is good as well, although no matter when you order it always seems to take over an hour for your food to arrive. We've tried many things, ordering in advance via phone/email, having anything between 5-12 ppl, no starters, asking drinks when the meal comes, asking them to bring it out as/when it's ready, regardless it always takes about 1 hour...
S. H.
Great atmosphere and attentive friendly staff. Didn't feel like it was full of 'kids'. The food was well prepared, well presented and tasty. Reasonable value for money. I'll be back.
D. B.
Great bourbon bar with large outside seating area. This area is heated after dark but no drinks outside after 2200. Food is of a good quality too and served later than most bars in the area.
K. D.
Such a discovery! First time in Glasgow and I fell in love with this city for places like this one. Don't know about the food, but the atmosphere was really relaxed with nice ambient music. The Chinaskis IPA is good!
j. C.
Was really busy and it seemed the staff were struggling to cope and same for the chefs. We got presented with a bill before we had even ordered our first drink, must have been for another tablet. Service time was very long, over an hour to get our mains and all we had to start was popodoms. Hard to get staffs attention and when the food did arrive we were a bit disappointed. Rice was cold and clumping together, my curry was super hot but my partners was barely warm and his beef was chucky and very over cooked. By this point we just wanted to eat what we could and go, getting hold of staff to get it rectified would have been a challenge and then to wait again would just spoil our evening. Had been really looking forward to the visit but felt it was a poor experience all round. Sadly wouldn't recommend on a busy night.
d. k.
Nachos could have came with all sides separate like everyone else other than that 5 star
D. K.
A great place with very nice food, with an open garden which is nice both for the summer and the winter (that have heathers), however keep in mind that after 2200 the place is quite crowded, once you can't drink more outside. You can take the last order somewhere around 21:15 which is convenient if you are in for a late dinner.
J. K.
My fave bar in Glasgow. Service is great. Lovely chilled atmosphere. Loads of great beers on tap... Including my favourite asahi. Food is different and tasty!
J. M.
The place is cosy, great drink menus and good range of whisky. The atmosphere is superb and the service is outstanding
L. K.
One of my favourites. The Thai beef salad was delicious although portion was small for a main meal. Lovely beer garden too.
E. E.
Good spot for drinks after work. Always has a buzz about it. Burgers are good. Small place with a little beer garden and a couple of tables Al fresco.
J. K.

Great service. On line app orders in the garden. And the staff continued to serve in the rain!
L. S.
Great small bar, a little hard to find but once you're inside it's amazing and has a nice outdoor sitting area. The tunes are great
S. R.
Nice candlelit ambience. Interesting selection of cocktails

(Translated) It is a quiet place with good music, to have a beer. It has an outdoor seating area where smoking is allowed, but that area is closed at 10:00 pm. A tribute to the alter ego of writer Charles Bukowski (Henry Chinaski). In the place there are some of the signed American writer's books and photos or conics.
