Reviews of Dylan's Criccieth
v. h.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here. The restaurant was ok, it was crowded when we came. The service was great. The cocktail was nice and the dessert was fantastic. And the mains was nice as well.
The only problem was on my scallop got some grains in it probably from the grill. Pretty plating as well. Well done to the line chef.
A. W.
What an amazing restaurant. Set on the beachfront with beautiful views, you get a lovely experience.
Food is very good. Service is equally as positive. Not a bad thing to say. We went for Sunday lunch time so got a table no worries. Saturday night was fully booked.
B. P. M.
This place is as good as it looks! The fish is cooked to perfection. Unfortunately for is the mussels were sold out and they were slightly understaffed, but the food was worth the wait! The seabass tacos are a must and the seafood chowder is outstanding
L. C.
The coconut dessert was incredible. Lovely starters and mains too. We had the calamari, chicken bao buns, burger and pork steak. A wide variety of food on their menu so something for everyone. The venue is relaxed and comfortable with beautiful views.
J. D.
Beautiful Art Deco building and setting, just on the sea front. Great food and cocktails. Lovely staff, the waitress was very friendly and helpful. Disabled parking out the front with plenty of room for a wheelchair inside.
S. C.
Great food with the best views! Highly recommend the Trio of Pork, partner had the Hake which was lovely too. Good menu choices for the children, they particularly enjoyed the Red Boat icecream.

First of all it's great that we could take our dogs, Your sat in an area near the bar with other dog owners. We arrived 15 minutes early and where taken to our seats but told we can't order until 7:30pm that's fine and understandable, however our drinks order wasn't taken until 7:50 and food order after 8pm. Food arrived within about half hour and worth the wait. Full of flavour and nice sizes. However waiting service wasn't great, slow and never asked if the food was OK or if we wanted more drinks. Its just the little things that make a huge difference.

This restaurant is in a fantastic location beside the sea looking onto Criccieth Castle. (As you'd expect on the beachfront, you have to pay for parking at somewhat of a premium but the PaybyPhone app works well.) Staff are welcoming, they have a dog-friendly indoor seating area, and the food is delicious. Strangely enough, we found it difficult to get seafood in the Portmadog area so this place really ticked all the boxes for us. The seafood platter is a lovely treat for a special occasion and the chowder is a super creamy and rich winter warmer. Even if you're not into seafood, this place has got something for everyone. Basically, if you like fresh food, you won't be disappointed.
M. P.
Great food, and they have a dog friendly area which is always a positive for us. My food was well presented, fresh and well cooked but came as a fairly small portion for the price, I hade a hake fillet which came on 3 roasted new potatoes. Very tasty but not filling for just under £20!!
K. J.
Great place for seafood! We had starters and a seafood platter. Just wish we had one closer to us in Norfolk!
Kiddies well catered for too.

After hearing very good things about Dylans me and my partner thought about visiting the place for a date, the location and the view of the place is absolutely prime. The service was exactly what you would expect for a place like that, lovely and super welcoming staff, when it came to the food that was a bit disappointing, all food lacked seasoning, ordered the fish chowder and it was really nothing more than cream with fish in it, no flavour to it. My partner ordered the linguine and it was very plain as well. For the prices on the menu I'd expect a lot better.
J. W.
Had a lovely meal out at Dylans on quite possibly the warmest day of the year. It was of some relief to find they had air conditioning! Food was excellent and the table service was second to none. Sitting out by the beach afterwards with a pint was also wonderful. Would definitely go back again, as would the rest of the group I went with.
J. L.
A group of 9 of us came here on a weekday for lunch (they couldn't fit us in for a late notice next booking for dinner!). Staff were friendly although it was quite busy so occasionally difficult to get their attention but they were always extremely polite and helpful! The food was delicious (the Chocolate Parfait, Mussles (ft pearls!) and Pizza were highlights for us). The building itself is fabulous. Art-deco style and overlooking the sea through its vast windows makes it even more fabulous. It also has a little van which allows you takeway bits to have seated under festoon lights along the sea front! Would definitely recommended a visit.
M. T.
We had a lovely meal at Dylan’s this evening. We booked in with the dog and we were all made to feel very welcome. We had bao and taco starters, moules, steak and Korean burger for mains. All the food was gorgeous. Staff and service were excellent.
The view out are amazing and the building is beautiful.
It was easy to book through the website, all very easy and everything worked perfectly.
Highly recommend.
K. S.
Wow I've never had seafood like this. I was certainly not expecting to be trying so many new fish dishes and enjoying them. The pictures don't do the food justice. The staff were incredibly friendly and chatty, I will definitely be coming back here in the future.
G. L.
Lovely restaurant in a fabulous location. Our food was delicious, and the service was excellent throughout. Highly recommend if you are in the area!
L. M.
A lovely seafront restaurant that looks spectacular. Dog friendly which is a huge bonus. Sea food was incredibly fresh and tasty, we were just disappointed about the amount of rosemary used in everything battered, but that was our only gripe, we would definitely visit again and recommend it!
J. H.
Main reception lady was rude and impolite on us making a call to confirm our booking.
I hope the food and service in the restaurant is going to show us how it’s meant to be done.
Fantastic venue and the food was delicious even the kids ate it all up, made up for the above comment.
D. R. (.
We only went for a drink and prices are what other places charge. However we purchased at their outside drinks and snacks van and sat in the seating area alongside the beach. The views and location are second to none. Service also friendly and helpful.
For a special birthday I booked a table for an evening meal. By booking we were guaranteed a table as it does get busy. I also asked for a window seat if possible and they were happy to accommodate. On arrival the staff were very friendly and service was excellent throughout the whole night. The food was tasty and worth every penny but the prices are reasonable anyway. We shared spicy minced lamb tacos with a burger and chunky chips for my wife and Korean chicken burger and chips for myself. The food was so tasty. Dylan's in Criccieth is very much worth a visit and thanks to the staff again.
V. T.
Really lovely food, great veggie and vegan options!
Staff were friendly and great views of the sea!
Plus suoer dog friendly, which is always a bonus.
R. W.
On way back from long day in Snowdonia we stopped and grabbed a quick bite to eat from the outside bar and food van.
They kept the food van open a little longer for us as was meant to be end of service, was very much appreciated as other takeaways had 45min queues.
Really nice seafood snacks and good chips! Lovely service and great views over the castle!
S. B.
We loved the food the staff and the location. We were given a window seat overlooking the cricceth beach. Ask and they may offer it to you.
For starter we asked for the dough balls and pizza bred (half of each were boxed for us).
We then had the welsh steak...... Wow the herbs on thd perfectly cooked steaks for each of us, we're amazing. Take your time if you have this as we did to saver every bite.
For sweet it had to be sticky toffee pudding and once again it did not dissapoint.
If you worry about the bill then either don't have a starter(but you will regret it).
I would highly recommend Dylans and if we are lucky enough to be in the area again I'm sure we will book it.
On that note guys book early as all the tables go quickly.

Delightful meal and place.
Atmosphere was a tad drab when I got there but half hour later they turned up the music and the waitstaff weren’t all congregated in one spot. Took a while for someone to come and greet me.
Food was great and tasty! Had the small mussels and orders skinny fries. Recommend.
F. G.
Friendly staff. Good food. Reasonable prices, all of the party were still hungry when we left. Fries aren’t that expensive so it wouldn’t hurt to make the portions a bit bigger.
T. V.
We were delighted to finally be able to dine at Criccieth, which for us is the most stylish of all the Dylans locations.
The service was professional, but approachable and friendly. We shared the trio of starters. They were excellent and very light considering they were three deep-fried dishes. We both had the poke salad bowl with a panko chicken thigh for topping. The salad was delicious. The seasoning and dressing was spot on. Our only regret was that we had no room for dessert. We will return and I’d heartily recommend you book yourself a table.
A. S.
Stunning setting, friendly promot service even when busy. The food was delicious 😋 now been to all three restaurants.
M. B.
Spent a few days at a cottage in Criccieth this August and we were recommended to book in at Dylan's. We were certainly not disappointed! You do definitely need to book in though and make sure you do it in advance especially during high season. After being seated in a lovely booth overlooking the sea, the choices on the menu were endless! In fact it took me quite a while to choose what to have. We decided to skip starters in favour of desserts. For main I finally decided on Anglesey Crab Salad, which was absolutely delicious and my daughter chose a pepperoni pizza. We only waited 10 minutes, if that, and they were served by the very friendly staff. My daughter said it was one of the best pizzas she has ever had. Then came the desserts, an extremely morish sticky toffee pudding with ice-cream for me and a very yummy serving of churros, chocolate dip and scoop of ice cream for my daughter. Along with a fabulous mojito cocktail and diet coke this was the best meal we had all holiday. Highly recommended and we'll definitely be back at one of the restaurants soon.
N. P.
We had a nice evening, the food was good but a little on the expensive side for what it was.
The waitress was really friendly and helpful, the whole team are a credit to the restaurant. The toilets were very cramped and a little grubby so because of this and value I did have to knock a star. I don't mind paying extra, for extra delicious but this was just decent.
C. R.
Great place, food and service with wonderful views. Reasonably priced and staff were accomdating
M. C.
Art deco beachside restaurant and bar. With good cask beer and nice food. Plenty of outside space for warm summer days. Enjoyed our visit... However on busy days they need to check their toilets more frequently, lost a star as a result.
If you want food in the evenings and at busy times you need to book.
J. B.
Fantastic from start to finish. Lovely busy atmosphere but staff very on the ball and attentive. Food is amazing and something for everyone. Great artdeco feel to the place too. Thoroughly recommend for a special meal out !
G. W.
Booked a table for 530, but was a little early, even so, the staff managed to get us in. Great menu, specials great too, do much so I couldn't make my mind up! Thankfully staff helped me choose the chicken and chorizo pizza, nice guest ales as well. Staff so friendly and views to die for. Well worth a visit!
R. I.
Top notch service by the team, very fast order to delivery! The food was very nice and the prices were fair. Thoroughly recommended! 😊

If you looking for a Beachfront restaurant that it's the one! The amazing view on the ocean from the fantastic massive windows that run along all the restaurant seats, feel like you sit in front of the sea! We went three times and we always had an amazing lunch or dinner! We love fish so every occasion was the right one to try new different recipes. The food is superb! Delicious! We was lucky enough to find space without booking but it's advice to booking as it's always busy. So I was saying that we was so lucky that for two consecutive times we have the little square table just attached to the window! Such a cute table that you feel very warm and in a friendly atmosphere. I looking forward to come back and to do such a nice walk on the way back to reach my car parked(council car park you need to pay but not expensive) just in front of the beach with an stunning view of the ocean! If you have extra time I suggest to visit the Criccieth caste with a beautiful view over the town/ocean!
I really love this location and the beautiful village all over in front the ocean! I can't wait to come back! The only point it's that the restaurant didn't have a car park so you need to park like 1 minute walk from the restaurant in front of the sea but this it's one welcome occasion to do a nice short walk to stop watching this stunning view!
R. V.
Food tasty, large portions. Very big varied menu . Staff were attentive and friendly. The restaurant is on the seafront with sea views. Large outdoor seating area for warmer days. I would recommend booking, and it's card only. Enjoyed our evening and would recommend.
G. W.
Visited a few months ago and booked in advance of our latest trip to North Wales and we were not disappointed. A good menu, wide choice of dishes, very well cooked with friendly service. The seared pork sirloin steak was succulent and tasty. Great atmosphere - even when it's raining outside.
r. w.
My only disappointment is that I didn't take any pictures of the food we were served to show to others!
The service was very attentive and personal from start to finish. For each course the food arrived promptly and hot, it was all perfectly cooked and presented and more importantly tasted fantastic!!
Thank you to all at Dylan's, we will definitely visit again.

Though the building looks a bit tired the experience we had was excellent. Food was of a very high standerd beautifully presented and reasonably priced. Most impressive was the hard work , service, helpfulness and friendliness of all the staff. Tables were cleared immediately, service was quick and there were no delays even on a busy night. It was obviously a team effort and it certainly bore impressive results. Would highly recommend it.
D. B.
Fantastic location right by the sea.
Really friendly staff.
High quality fresh seafood.
And of course, a great name.
M. D.
Lovely restaurant, great food, excellent customers service. Definitely will come again to dine here.
P. H.
Saturday lunch with my partner and our two dogs. Dog friendly bar area which, although having few tables was nice and roomy with great views out to sea. We had seafood chowder, pizza & the teriyaki sea bass....all of which were fantastic. It was very busy but the staff were very polite & attentive even though you could tell they were under pressure. All in all, can't fault the place and would definitely like to return
B. B.
I've been to Dylans on Menai Bridge, which is excellent, I found Criccieth a little under standard.
The mussels were gritty, and the vegetarian katsu was pretty bad. I would have given this feedback on the Day, but no-one asked, so I am feeding back here.
It was my birthday, but I didn't order pudding.
Normally if you were to make a gesture, you would stick a small scoop of ice cream or something.
I got an empty plate, with happy birthday written in chocolate. Luckily I was able to accessorise with an espresso Martini :).
Perhaps it's the thought that counts..but I found
It was "ok". But they need to step up to match the angelsey counter parts.
That being said the crab salad was very very good as was the chicken in a basket
G. C.
Lovely sea side spot in an old art deco building. We had excellent service, speedy from ordering to food on the plate and superb advice on the specials and menu options. Our server "Josh G" was excellent and deserves a lot of credit too. The specials menu was intriguing and the sardines on sourdough toast were lovely, the mussels are some of the best we've had in the UK, the broth was neither too creamy or acidic and was very more'ish!
Dylan's is well worth a drop in for any meal or drinks with friends and family. I would happily recommend it and will definitely visit again soon.
G. h.
Love the place, staff so friendly. Love the Christmas decorations. We will be coming again when we back in wales again 🏴
M. H.
Very tasty food, smiling staff, interesting building in great seaside setting. Marvellous.
S. M.
Another wonderful experience at Dylans Criccieth! Bethan at the helm, with a great team who are so professional and also delightful. Not always the case at some places these days unfortunately. And the food? Fabulous, tasty, huge choice, and three of us even had local lobster which was devine. Highly recommended and we will be back very soon.
B. F.
Beautiful setting. Fabulous waiting staff. Helpful and knowledgeable re menu and suggestions. The Hake and Cod options were gorgeous. On the down side the prices are high. My chicken pasta dish was gritty maybe from mushrooms?
R. W.
We had an amazing, family, food tasting meal. Will definitely be returning!
S. J.
We were visiting the beach and stopped for a boardwalk coffee from Dylan's. It was very quiet, but all the better to see the spotless cleanliness throughout, take a look at the menu for another visit and have our coffees brought out to the boardwalk. This is a fabulous location, right on the beach.
B. L.
I booked at short notice but still had a great table to dine at.
The two female staff were absolutely lovely, both Welsh speaking, and looked after us both.
We had salt and pepper calamari and soup to start with, then I had a panko chicken poke bowl, my husband chose the chicken burger. I particularly enjoyed the calamari and could have ordered a double portion starter and been perfectly happy with just that.
S. C.
We enjoyed a wonderful family meal at Dylan’s- a stunning 1920s Art Deco restaurant situated on the beautiful seafront at Criccieth. Excellent customer service and delicious food, with great choice for vegetarians. Our puddings were incredible. We’ll definitely be back when we’re next in Wales!
S. H.
Would be higher star rating BUT off-putting start because pouring with rain, windy, no parking (though plenty (cheap) in public car parks nearby enough to be only half drowned by the time I got back to the restaurant!). Food was good, interesting though my husband wanted his pork crackling crisper. Service was excellent. I had one minor complaint which brought immediate apologies and the offer of a free drink. We didn't think our lunch was particularly expensive especially nowadays. I live nearby and would certainly put Dylan's in my top three local places to eat, and will go back.
PS The taps in the women's loo are difficult to use: not enough space between basin and taps.
P. W.
Visited twice in the last week of October. Had the chicken in basket which was lovely altho a little saltier than when I visited in March. On the second visit I had the featherblade of beef which was absolutely delicious. The staff are wonderful and a credit to Dylan's; particularly Bethan. It's a beautiful place in which to dine and has a lovely atmosphere. Already booked in for Christmas! Oh and dogs are now welcome in one part of the restaurant providing you mention it when booking. Lastly - please bring back the katsu chicken it was lush.
O. H.
My favourite Dylan’s and definitely my favourite Resturant in Criccieth. Often eat here.
- Staff are great
- Amazing and well decorated building and interior
- food is to a high standard, can be hit and miss which is why I haven’t given 5 stars but on most of my visits food has been very nice
- definitely order drinks, I love their non-alcoholic cocktails
Definitely recommend for anyone in the Criccieth area
J. C.
Great food, brilliant service. Loved the menu selections, especially the mussels!!
B. K.
Definitely worth checking out if you're in this neck of the woods. Friendly staff, great service and a pretty extensive menu!
PS: The seafood pizza and the sticky toffee pudding will not disappoint
P. P. P.
For something a bit different, please ask them about their wedding reception packages. This was one of the best weddings I had the privilege of shooting. AMAZING food, stunning surroundings. What is there not to love??
M. T.
A great stop for lunch on our way to Abersoch for a week's break. Food and drink both good with attentive service provided throughout our time.
It is priced at mid to high range for the location but didn't break the bank.
Visited several times over the years.
J. T.
Made our booking for 9 people by telephone to celebrate our daughters 40th birthday which was happening whilst we were on holiday in Criccieth. They accommodated us well. The food was delicious and the staff warm and welcoming.
R. M.
Amazing building with amazing views. Great food and service family all loved it.
K. D.
What a totally awesome fresh seafood platter to share - a wonderful selection of chilli king prawns, calamari, whitebait, mussels in cream and cider and crab balls food with seaweed salad and lovely dips and breads. The personal friendly service from Tom and all the staff was exceptional - nothing too much trouble and a lovely friendly courteous service - thank you - can’t wait till we come again.
D. S.
This was our first visit to Dylan's to celebrate our anniversary. On arrival the staff were friendly and the service we received was excellent as was the food. We will definitely be returning. Many thanks
S. H.
Dylan's is a nice seaside restaurant, some dishes a little pricey, but a range to suit all price brackets. Didn't see that many fish dishes which was a little disappointing for my wife considering the location, however the food we had was enjoyed by all. Kids menu good.
R. L.
Great food and brilliant service. Really nice menu and great offerings from the bar. Beautiful building in a great location. Staff were friendly and attentive.
H. D.
Always love coming here, staff are lovely, service is good and food lovely. Fairly priced. If only there were more places with a contemporary feel in this part of Wales.
M. D.
Great service, amazing food. Good beer. Dog friendly. Loads of seating. Went twice during our trip. Can't wait to go again
N. W.
A really enjoyable experience, the food was great and was good value. Most impressive was the warm welcome and efficient service. The building is lovely but the people make it a relaxed and comfortable place to eat.Its definitely worth visiting and revisiting.
V. D.
Amazing location, warm and friendly, menu was brilliant but the most delightful moment was created by DJ, she managed to make a great birthday surprise that will remain a magic moment, she treated us with so much care and professional manner! Many thanks our lovely!
J. J.
Had a fantastic meal here for my husband's birthday. Stunning building and location. Very friendly staff. Excellent service and delicious food and cocktails.
A. K.
Went with my family and our new puppy. We had to book well in advance knowing we were going to be staying near(ish) and it was middle son's birthday.
Service was top notch, loads of explanation of the menu and local produce available. Food was delicious and very well flavoured. Great selection of food for the pescatarian in our midst. Separate dog-friendly area of the restaurant. We also came away with bottles of the amazing Dylan's branded sauces, although not the sweet chilli sauce that came with my starter (unfortunately, as it was delicious!).
Definitely reccommend booking in advance as it's always busy.
S. M.
Food is excellent. Friendly service. Booking is recommended, we’d planned to just turn up but fortunately rang first, they were full but we booked a table for the following evening.
S. H.
food was good and the service was good. Sat by the beach and it was brought to us.
D. S.
Great staff, lovely mussels and a drop dead view of the castle as the sun went down. A busy vibrant atmosphere in a classic Clough-Ellis building from the 50s. We felt like Vincent and Mia at Jack Rabbit Slims (Pulp Fiction).
M.
Can't fault the staff. They were very attentive, friendly and professional. The only issue was that too many of them at least three) were checking on us several times to see that everything was okay for us. They were lovely but it became irrating as we were deep in conversation. We certainly didn't have to wait long to get someone's attention which again was very good. Food wise I was disappointed by the lack of topping on my walk in the woods gluten free pizza which also had a soggy centre base and a rock hard crust so when I tried to pick a piece up to eat the end went limp and the few mushrooms that were there fell off (I don't think the chef knows much about cooking gluten free dough) . Basically I could hardly taste the topping as the pizza was more base. The mushrooms were trying to run around to look more impressive shouting "look at me! " 😜. I felt quite sorry for them. More cheese to glue them on might have worked. Sadly the topping was not just light it was almost non existant. I like the place and I would probably return for a coffee (because of the lovely staff) but the meals are now so expensive for what you get I might not order one until things improve.
Parking is in the public car parks on the prom. So bring cash or register with the parking payment phone system (which didnt work very well for me at all).
Lastly. Ease up on the antibac table surface cleaner guys! My elbow kept sticking to the table.
M. P.
Lovely place, have visited 3 times now, had a delicious meal in the 1st time, 2nd time it was fish tacos from the takeaway van as due to lockdown and 3rd time recently ate outside. Great looking building and views, the food was fantastic, service was faultless. The staff were very friendly and attentive and there when you needed anything. Couldn't have been a better experience on all 3 occasions. The sharing seafood platter is superb and nicely laid out and a delight for seafood lovers.
C. R.
Absolutely excellent food with a really warming atmosphere. All the servers were really friendly and had excellent customer service. The service here was very quick and efficient which allowed the evening to run smoothly. Was very crowded with people which is a sign of a really good place. Definetly recommend to others, although you do need to book a table in advance.
P. M.
New Years Day meal. Great Atmosphere , Great range of Food , Great Quality Food , Great Service Good Value. Great start to 2023
D. C.
Loved this restaurant, we will be going back, the food is absolutely amazing and fantastic service from the staff. Most restaurants get the portion size wrong for kids but Dylan s got it spot on.
A. S.
Beautiful location, Art Deco styled architecture with cool minimalist seaside styling inside. Great staff and great food. Price is OK especially because the view is so spectacular. Seafood linguine was epic, one of best if not the best I've ever had. (One of my most favourite dishes). All in all amazing. We visited the Criccieth restaurant on Thursday slightly after 2.
d.
Very happy that they have Staropramen premium beer on tap. Great food and came out piping hot. Had the Chicken Thai Green Curry which was really nice and shared a Speciality Charity Pizza with my girlfriend. The dessert was beautiful. Had great company, great place especially by the sea. Come highly recommended and hope you have the same experience as myself.
J. H.
Great place to eat in Criccieth. Staff are friendly and helpful, the art deco building has been tastefully restored and the food is good quality
G. P.
Great menu great service, good choice of wine. The food was the best we have eaten on the llyn peninsula during our visit on holiday from England.Thank you for a loverly
evening.
A. L.
Dylan's Criccieth notably busy and understandably so..booked for a take out slot and was not disappointed. Reasonably priced,no fuss ordering and collection.
A. C.
Have visited Dylan's several times this year. Every time is a very pleasant experience. Very good quality ,well presented food. Good choice of drinks. Great staff. Can't wait for our next visit.
S. C.
Food was good but shame about the service. All three of us enjoyed the starters, and I thought the Chowder was very good. My Dad ordered the steak cooked medium but it came very rare. When he asked for it to be cooked more it was taken back to the kitchen and wasn’t brought back for 15 mins. When it was brought back he wasn’t given a set of cutlery or his side dish. The waitress avoided us and when had to get up and ask another staff member. By the time he was given cutlery and his side the rest of us had finished our food. The community choir performed whilst we were there and they were very very good.
J.
Had the muscles which were good. Some of the sides/ starters were average, all round good atmosphere in the restaurant. Excellent outdoor seating areas on the sea front.
M. R.
Food and staff lovely. Along with perfect spot over looking the beach.
R. T.
My wife and I visited Dylan’s on 24/06/22, we were down for a wedding
on 25/06/22 staying at the Lion Hotel for 3 nights. We booked a table in advance and when we got there not many people inside but it soon filled up.My wife had the Monk fish and I had Hake, followed by the cheesecake. Overall a very good restaurant and excellent food, would recommend.
G. N.
Sat outside on the deck and had drinks and snacks from their chuck wagon.
Nice selection of drinks and snacks, good service - only reason it wasn't 5 stars is they ran out ie (it was very hot) and drinks were being sold so fast they didn't have time to chill them properly.

The venue, nice to see a 1930s well preserved and staff were brilliant but the menu not that great. I had fancied the fish pie since I made the booking 3 week prior only to find out when we sat down at our table that the fish pie was sold out. Disappointed. The replacement from the menu, hake was ok, but we'll presented but a small dish. Felt it was over priced and only just above average food and left the restaurant a feeling little peckish. Would we eat here again 🤔 no.
A. T.
Great location with views of Criccieth Castle. Love atmosphere. The staff are friendly and helpful - very good service. Great menu choice with a wide variety of dishes, well cooked and presented. Very much enjoyed the hake with parmesan crust and creamy leeks.
A. H.
Very flavourful food. We even returned in the evening for cocktails before moving on to another place. Really great view of the beach front and good vibes all round.
S. W.
Seafood platter was excellent as were our other choices of fish. Amazing service all done with a smile. All in all a lovely lunch on a glorious sunny day
K. W.
Lovely place overlooking the beach.
Great food, friendly staff.
P. G.
I had a brilliant time at Dylan's. The building itself is beautiful and the interior is spacious. The staff were very attentive, friendly and totally proffesional. I ordered the bao bun with lobster filling, and my friend had the Welsh beef burger with cheese, and both were extremely delicious, using high quality ingredients. I loved the pickled samphire so much that I bought a couple of jars to take home. I will certainly visit Dylan's in Criccieth again.
J. S.
Nice meal at Dylan's. Service was pretty good - although things like extra drink orders went missing during the meal. Food was very nice - and the position is great.
D. C.
Family visit for dinner and it was Yummy.
We love a visit to Dylans although the previous 2 visits have been below par.
I can confirm Dylans is back....
The service from all members of staff was excellent.
Slightly disappointed that for a 7pm reservation that 3 states and 2 specials were not available.
The food, drinks and overall experience was top class again. Everyone in our group enjoyed the evening.
Well done Dylans glad to have you back.
K. S.
Have been several times - the food is excellent and we struggled to choose from the menu as we all wanted several of the choices! The toddler with us was very happy with his home made fish fingers child meal.
J. M.
Everything was very very good, food, service, surroundings, and staff. Because of illness it's been months since I've been in but several staff recognised me and made us very welcome. One criticism, the drinks were a little on the expensive side but still thank you. John Matthews 14th Aug 2022

Wonderful late Friday lunch. Arancini and Calamari starters, seafood linguine and chicken Katsu mains. All excellent, including the drinks and the staff!
M. S.
Dylans is an amazing looking building, very retro which wouldn't look out of place in a Poirot movie. We had a lovely walk along the beach to Dylan's , once inside it was lovely with great views across the bay.The service was excellent but I must say the Calzone i had wasn't the best.Too dry, difficult to cut, as was the doughballs. Will definitely try something new next time because it's such a lovely place to be .This is a great find.
g.
Great place, would love to be there in the daylight. Great food, very nice house wine and good service. Interesting decor.
R. E.
Dylan’s was absolutely wonderful, fantastic food in a stunning location! The arancini were some of the best we have ever had and the service was great, even on a busy Saturday evening!
n. m. T.
Lovely location! We sat outside looking out on the front with a beautiful view of the sea. I had a Caesar salad and my dad had a chicken burger - both were delicious! Lovely staff as well!
D. H.
Pretty good food and excellent friendly staff. A tad overpriced but great views.
A. G.
The food is excellent. The staff are helpful and attentive. Nice selection of beers on tap. Highly recommended.
J. a.
We wanted coffee and cake and felt it was more geared up to welcome fine diners not us day trippers/ walkers! Only a small part of the building was open to non diners. I.e. hot drinks and cake eaters, the nicer area was saved for people eating from the nice looking menu. I did try to access the empty large seating area (as it was cramped in the other area) but I wasn't allowed Please make it comfy for the customers that maybe only want coffee and cake! (Chairs were hard and tables close together) I like what they have done to the place though as it used to be run down. Only disabled parking in their car park allowed. Pay and display on sea front near by. Nice views
D. B.
We have been to Dylan’s at Criccieth on a good number of occasions and have always had good service and food, the building and view of the bay are amazing.
It’s nice to visit a restaurant and come away feeling satisfied with the experience.
K. C.
Lovely restaurant. Excellent, beautifully presented dishes and friendly service
L. T.
Really lovely staff, very patient with me and my needs. Food was excellent and all locally sourced from what i could see i recommend this place to everyone
S. M. w. #.
Fantastic location amazing service, meal was the best of the best, fantastic steak cooked to perfection, followed by sticky toffee pudding and the Dylan’s sauce was spectacular
G. P.
Great nyt great food
J. D.
Great place ,my grandson called Dylan so we thought it would be a lovely place to go ,not disappointed. SHAME they didn't have his size in a T -shirt with the wording on the back wecwould have loved one .
E.
Lovely food and brill staff
T. S.
Fantastic place to have food or coffee very welcoming and you can bring your pooch.
Also staff have good knowledge of the building and area.
J. R.
What a lovely experience! - Great food, staff, building & view! Worth a trip to eat here. (I was also lucky enough to see a travelling production of The Tempest whilst dining that evening)
S. R.
Lovely atmosphere. Polite staff, the waitress who served us was so energetic and friendly. I tried the local charity pizza (see menu). It's very nice to see a successful business supporting local charities. It was absolutely delicious with local mushrooms, goats cheese and truffle oil (I did add an extra topping of cured ham)! Rest of the family also tried the Drunken mussels (which was a very good portion made with cider and bacon, served with sourdough bread), creamy carbonara calzone, and the chicken in a box with Dylan's own bbq sauce!
J. W.
Had a great meal here with my family. 4 stars as i think it was a bit overpriced but happy with the service and food. A mistake was made with the desert order but the extra icecream was given free though the children were that full they couldnt really eat it all anyway.
Good choice of seafood but would have liked more steak options and maybe a special or two. I would go back as a special occasion but likely not with the children
P. E.
Great beachside location. Good service, pleasant atmosphere and high quality food. Choice of real ale but wine by the glass is expensive.
L. U.
Great location & lovely food. Service excellent & all the staff very friendly.
We love Dylan’s
J. T.
Called in for coffee after a lovely walk on the beach. Really friendly welcome, great atmosphere and lovely coffee.
H. J.
Fantastic place and delicious cheese and onion panini..my granddaughter said it was the best ever.. a bit pricey though...
P. P.
Staff very efficient and friendly.
Food only average unfortunately and fairly limited menu range.
Outside of the building is stunning but once inside it becomes a mish mash of styles ☹️
M. R.
Brilliant place, lovely staff and great food! Very helpful with my daughter's allergies too. We found it really hard to choose off the menu as everything looked amazing!
S. B.
Nice food although a little pricey for what you get, friendly staff and part of it is dog friendly.
P. C.
Varied menu with something for everyone. Reasonable prices for well cooked and good quality food. The fish burger and Welsh cheeseboard were outstanding. Staff professional and friendly which helped create a lovely chilled ambiance. Beth our server was excellent.
D. B.
Recommended by a friend. Certainly worth a visit.
Iconic building, filling portions, great service.
T. L.
Amazing food, & despite them being very busy with a 60th birthday party in the service was great.
D. C.
Went to Dylan’s in criccieth very good food I had the sea food chowder excellent went with the xkcc jaguar club all members had great food will be going again the food is excellent
S. W.
The staff, particularly the waiting staff are brilliant. Polite, attentive and will chat with customers, nothing is too much trouble. Well done. We ate there Tuesday night and the food was the usual high standard.
S. W.
Great place to chill outside in the winter sun trying out local gins. Lovely staff and fabulous gifts.
J. P.
Took the wife in for a bit of dinner. WOW amazing food, I can recommend the sea food chowder. The chips are awesome. Her in doors had this bayo thing wooooh that was lovely!! Well worth a stop for a quick bite. Thank you to all the staff who couldn't do enough for us.
V. E.
Good food, good service
A little busy on the weekends gets a little noisy
You must book before going
Very cosy
Good prices as well
Good place for a dinner with family, it has a kids’ menu
I would love to have more options on the menu, like fish and chips
Thanks for the great moment
S. R.
Amazing choice of food, amazing staff (very attentive). Made our night perfect.
C. B.
Fabulous place. Great locally sourced food, great friendly service in a great Art Deco building
L. O.
What a fantastic night! Stunning food, amazing atmosphere and attentive hosts.
L. R.
Nice location right by the sea, enjoyed a meal here on 16th June, our last night in Criccieth of a 5 night stay.
S. R.
Fantastic food, great staff, amazing location with a good variety of drinks. A must for any foody. I had the Menai pizza while family shared a platter. Children well catered for and served quickly.
E. C.
Stopped by for quick pint with some friends after a walk along beach. Service was great.
S. P.
Fantastic location right on the seafront and nice preservation of old building features. Great atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and the food was tasty and well presented with some decent vegan options.
O.
Starting to lose it's edge, but food is still good.
Been going here for years but running out of fish specials in a restaurant known foe its fish is a bit poor.
R. J.
Took my mother here for lunch Friday, staff was great and the food was delicious
s. c.
Excellent food, very friendly staff and an unbelievable setting. No wonder it took us three nights to get a booking!
The hake just melted in my mouth 👍
R. C.
Beautiful food! Well worth trying. Overall great experience
I. S.
Excellent quality food and good selection at affordable prices. Plenty of space and seating outside as well. The Moqueca fish stew was my choice and was well cooked.
S. B.
Lovely food, great location attentive friendly staff. Recommended by owner of our cottage. Fabulous
N. C.
A lovely art deco building overlooking the sea serving a very appealing menu and using a range of local producers, such as mussels from Menai and beer from Cwrw Llyn. Good service, and the seafood was good quality.
S. B.
My favourite restaurant to visit! Food is always brilliant 👏🏻
R. S.
Great food, very friendly staff. Had a lovely meal with friends.
C. K.
Wasn’t fortunate to dine in (as they said they were fully booked) although there were plenty of tables and it was weekday. Got lobster rolls from their food trucks nearby and it tasted a bit like a disappointment as for £12. Great views on the coastline but if you want something hot cooked I suggest you go with something else.
C. B.
Fantastic new Vegan menu. I can recommend the sharing starter with nachos, houmous, veg, sour dough bread, suchi. A bargain at £8.50ish
B. G.
Lovely food, something for everyone on the menu. Superb location and in a Clough Williams-Ellis building as well
P. R.
Nice cafe by the sea front
Plenty of choices
Tables were a little grubby
Quiet time when visiting in November
D. F.
Yet another lovely evening meal, lovely and cool with aircon on much needed as very hot day 13th Aug. Staff helpful, food tasty and fab views
K. D.
Excellent food choice. Great ambience. Lovely staff. We'll be back!
P. R.
Really good place; food is excellent as is the service. Dog friendly and seating ibside and out, overlooking the sea. Well worth a visit.
P. D.
We've been to Dylan's many times and keep coming back. The food and drinks are lovely and staff are super friendly.
S. H.
Usually we are impressed with the food and service. Hope you bring those large juicy mussels back again.
M. W.
Absolutely wonderful lunch at Dylan’s. Superb location and we were really happy to get a window table. Staff were brilliant throughout and it’s clear they’re being well looked after in challenging times. Menu is diverse and full of fresh options for everyone. We had seafood for both courses and it was fresh, tasty and nicely served. Wines and cocktails also very good. Can’t fault the whole experience!
H. M.
Have eaten in Dylan's Menai Bridge as well as Criccieth. Both are superb
M. H.
Great seafood platter, stunning location. Make sure you book
A. E.
I would definitely recommend this amazing place, food was wonderful and the staff were absolutely amazing and so helpful and so accommodating. I would highly recommend.
G. P.
We spent a couple of days in North Wales, and the meal at Dylan's was superb. My wife raved about her lamb hotpot, my halloumi burger was very good, staff were fast, efficient and friendly. It's a lovely place too, so what's not to love?!
K. W.
Disappointed as had been looking forward to visiting for ages. Great building but in need of a lot of tlc. Outside windows need rust removing and repainting. Lots of settees ripped. Food and service good and of course the view and location is great.
R. G.
Bang Average.....
In terms of looks and style, this place is a 5-star location. Strikes the perfect pitch.
In terms of food. Quality is moderate at best. Soggy fish burgers, tasteless garlic bread. Pizzas are floppy. The chunky fries are terrific however which is a sign that things can get better or indeed we went on an off night.
Customer service. This is where the scores tumble. Very poor table service. Had to repeatedly ask for cutlery, condiments and sauces for the kids. Drinks were slow and food service even slower in comparison to other tables. Perhaps ordering lobster, steak and bottles of wine buys better service than simply ordering from the normal menu! Who knows.
Not a great deal of local choice of places to eat so, don't be put off but don't expect The Ritz either.
N. J.
Lovely building, beautiful setting, friendly staff but the food is not as good as it used to be sadly. Very pricey for what you get and I didn't appreciate a supposedly gluten free 'naked' burger being sandwiched between two sliced of dry gluten-free bread.
T. D.
Great Art Deco Seaside building.Vans outside for Covid safe take aways. Plenty of external seating on a sunny day. Great Hot Choc and Brownie.
f.
Good ambience in an interesting building in a great seaside location! The food and service were very good, but nothing outstanding. Well worth a visit for dinner if you're in the Criccieth area.
T. S.
Really nice meal. Great service and a popular place to bring dogs.
G. B.
Food was fantastic, location is superb and the service was excellent. A great end to our wedding anniversary day.
S. B.
Delicious meal in a gorgeous setting. Highly recommend this place.
P. Q.
Very enjoyable meal, yet again, at Dylan's, May 2022, and also enjoyed the outside area overlooking the beach with a chilled glass of prosecco. Lovely.
J. R.
This was our second visit within 4 days. The food & the atmosphere are excellent. Very welcoming. A special Thank you to Chloe who took care of us on both nights.
J. E.
Was ok, food was average and expensive for what it was. Very quiet on a Sunday afternoon at 6pm, only a few people in there eating. Staff were lovely and helpful, catered for gluten free which was good, but overall food was just average really.
A. F.
Nice outdoor seating area, snacks and drinks , lovely view
M. G.
Great food, very helpful staff, fully recommend a visit if you're in the area.
a. m.
Fantastic place to eat, staff are welcoming and friendly. Been coming to Dylan's Criccieth for our anniversary since it opened and we've never been disappointed. Always book first !
A. M.
Visited mid week for a family meal. Managed to get a table without a booking but I think if we arrived 30 mins later that wouldn't have happened because it got really busy. Building interior and exterior are very art deco as you'd expect from a sea side restaurant of this age. Staff were attentive and the food was good. Kids meal was good value and both mains and deserts we're lovely at a reasonable price. I'd come back if I was in the area again.
R. E.
Very popular so need to book in advance but the food and service were excellent.
B. H.
A pleasure to come back here after three years. The food is still very good. On a very hot day the air-conditioning was a great comfort. Lovely location with views of the castle and Cardigan Bay.
M. C.
Disappointing ,food not great . nice place with good views ,staff good and friendly but I would swerve this place if I was you. It certainly isn't good Value for money.
P. F.
Some Welsh town with a nice beach and lovely views of the castle and coast line well worth a vist
J.
Great food, service and surroundings. Dog friendly and highly recommend..jdg
G. D.
Just stopped for a coffee in this interesting art deco building with great views over the sea. Staff friendly.
L. W.
We called in on a windy day for a snack. The food was nice although you didn't get much for the money. Beautiful location.
R. A.
Lovely spot - great service in the restaurant and lovely food. Couldn't manage a dessert so got a muffin to take away.
s. s.
Excellent food, wonderful staff, beautiful setting
R. F.
Great menu with a wide variety of dishes. Seafood options well worth a try. Service very good, notably Josh who was charming.
K. T.
This was my second visit in 3 months and the service and food was good as I remembered. This time I booked to take a large group of my family and friends, everyone enjoyed it. The restaurant were really accommodating. Suitable for GF. We will definitely return
I. T.
Food and service were excellent. Had hoped for larger portions for the price, but overall positive experience
M. G.
We’ve been regular visitors at Dylan’s for many years and it never disappoints. Great staff, great food and a great location.
R. S.
Wonderful place. Last time I visited criccieth this place was a a closed down surf shack and beach cafe, so what an amazing surprise to find this seafood and grill restaurant with a lovely drinks menu right on the sea front. A great selection of cocktails and food and what an amazing surrounding. Even have blankets for you to sit on the lawn outside. Can't wait to go back!!!
C. H.
Lovely place! Had dinner here with family. The food was great and the service was excellent. Could not have asked for more.
M. L.
The food is phenomenal. Valentines specials (tried the chocolate indulgence cocktail and dessert) were amazing. Not too pricey for an excellent experience. Staff always so friendly and helpful.
O. R.
Great food and exceptional service
V. D.
Great place for casual dining in a picture perfect location. Good choice of really well made staple dishes (burgers, Chicken in a basket) as well as a selection of great seasonal seafood dishes. We dine here fairly regularly and they use good ingredient's - we're not had a bad meal yet. It does get really busy so book well in advance. And they are Dog friendly
J. W.
Nice restaurant on the beach. Food tasted fresh and staff were polite and friendly.
C. T.
Great place for cocktails , food and beer . It's priced for for tourists £5 for a pint of average larger. Staff and service exceptional.
D. R.
We also return here when we visit so that's a positive. Menu is diverse, but perhaps a little expensive for some of the simple dishes. Service is always fast, polite and efficient.
J. D.
Beautiful fresh food, with a fantastic drinks menu to compliment. Helpful and friendly staff.
S. C.
Overpriced for sea bass. I've had a similar meal for £6 less and still had the same amount and quality. Disappointed as I was highly recommended this place and was underwhelmed tbh
M. M.
Amazing food, fantastic service with really friendly staff.
L. T.
Super expensive - I'm from Manchester so I'm used to paying high prices nowadays - but Dylans prices are pitched at a very captive market without particularly justifying it (other than a gorgeous art deco building) As an example, on one of our three visits so far we couldn't even sit at the (empty) bar due to being fully booked as per the previous 2 times. So we sat outside and paid the same prices for wine in a plastic cup which we had to queue for at the pop up stall for 20 minutes. There's a few staff members who are borderline rude too which is a shame as we are (in my opinion!) very conscious of being polite and understanding towards hospitality personnel and how hard their jobs are at peak times especially.
J. H.
Lovely food, great atmosphere.
K. A.
I and my family visited this venue tonight and we were mightily impressed. The menu, if not somewhat different, was none the less varied and catered for all tastes from the more European to the good ole original burger plus pizzas. I had the Seared Seabass which was exquisite of taste and presented in a modern art fashion. The rest of my family also commented on the quality of their meals too. Puddings were varied again for our final course. Once again these were of excellent quality, l strongly recommend the Apple pie and Vanilla custard. If your looking for something slightly different from your run of the mill eatery? Then this could be for you. The overall ambience completes the whole experience.
r. p.
Visited this Dylans for lunch, as expected the service was exceptional, the food was fantastic, the restaurant was a great.
M.
Such a lovely looking place, every table looked to be spacious and have a nice view. Our food was excellent, the seabass tacos and the muscles in particular were superb.
D. F.
Wonderful atmosphere, good food and fabulous wine. Dessert are to die for
m. b.
Plenty of parking lovely coastal town well worth a visit
D. H.
Great menu, great service and really nice food.
N. C.
Great food, decent portions and hospitality was top banana.
N. A.
Lovely food & great views. No on site parking but its not a massive issue
K. G.
Great food and service what more could you need.
H. R.
Another fabulous meal at Dylan's... staff are really friendly and the food amazing... a nice chilled out Family new year lunch 😋 sticky toffee pudding and cinnamon churros delicious
S. W.
Excellent location and meal. Very good service from Reece.
L. E.
Lovely building and location on the seafront. Good service although short staffed which was not their fault. Good quality food but overall some things did feel overpriced given the portion sizes. Large seafood chowder was disappointing for almost £20 as was the Bakewell tart dessert for £7.
R.
Lovely art deco restaurant. Our food was all delicious, staff were friendly and it's dog friendly, we were also given a bowl of water for the dog.
L. C.
Excellent cocktails and very nice food. Lots of choice on the menu make it somewhere you'd like to visit again
M. S.
Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at the terrace. Staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. Would definitely come again and recommend it to those with kids.
G. M.
Excellent food and service, if you are in the area try to visit
T. D.
Nice food, good service and friendly staff. Dig friendly too, always a bonus
a. d.
Popped in for a quick bite to eat, amazing fish finger buttie and Mrs. D had calzone pizza with ham hock wild mushrooms and riccota.... Mm
A. D.
Beautiful view while eating delicious food, the staff were brilliant. Well worth a visit
R. R.
Loved the food great service and amazing setting
M. R.
Excellent food and service, great with conditioners in this heat, but don't forget your mask
R. S.
Very clean and tidy excellent food and friendly staff.
J. J.
Great food, lovely staff, iconic building and amazing views.
G. J.
Perfect location, good food, but my pizza did need some more time in the oven.
C. C.
Lovely sitting outside with the stunning views of the castle on one side and snowdonia on the other. Beautiful food from the diner van in the car park. The restaurant was fully booked and apparently if that is the case you can't even have drinks on one of their outside tables, seems a shame and a waste
A. M.
Great place to dine. Extensive menu, Something for everyone. The staff are great. Well worth a visit.
B. D.
Great food, lovely place and they are really good with children.
J. B.
Fantastic views, great food and fantastic service. Have some change in your pocket as they can't take tips via a card.
J. J.
Better than some restaurant's. Service and food excellent. Avoid the real ale though. Card only.
D. H.
Just had hotdogs chips and drinks and was good but was from their burger van ..no experience of the Restaurant but seemed to be busy enough.
L. L.
Delicious food and great service at Dylan’s Criccieth with beautiful views out to sea.
L. M.
We were on holiday for four days at Haven greenacres just outside Porthmadog..
One sunny day we decided to take a little car journey down to see Criccieth as you could see the castle from where we were staying, so being the nosey bunch that we were of we went...
As we turned down the road to take you to the beach upon entering Criccieth there was a restaurant called dylans.. My son shouted out and said look mum its mine..
We decided to go in and have a look and orderd some hot chocolates and teas.. Which were fabulous to be honest..
Whilst we were enjoying these my son wanted to go tell one of the workers his name was Dylan.. I toke him inside and he told them.. The workers all liked that and gave him a small cup with Dylan on it and some chocolate coins with Dylan printed on it.. That small gesture from them Workers made my sons holiday that little bit better..
I definately recommend going for a look at the place.. The views are amazing!
H. M.
Excellent restaurant amazing views & lovely food.
S. L.
I had lunch at Dylan's Criccieth toady. I had the seafood chowder which was sublime. My son had the steak and ale pie, mash and seasonal veg. The pie was a real pie, encased on all sides in a pastry crust, rather than the usual sorry pot of stew with a flaky crust only on the top. Anyway, Dylans know how to make and serve a pie and, along with excellent accompaniments and gravy, my son assured me it was "bangin" - high praise all round then. I will be back as soon as I am next in North Wales. Friendly and attentive staff and service too from the moment we arrived, which made us feel very welcome. Top marks! We strolled on the beach after lunch and skimmed some stones. Thank you.
J. L.
Great service and drink. Brilliant views over the bay
E. T.
Excellent service as usual. Out of all the Dylan's restaurants in North Wales this is the best - amazing location, building and food. Fish always good. Smoked Mackerel Pate to die for. Worth a visit in all Seasons 🎆💃
J. V.
Popped in from the beach - had a lovely meal and staff were very friendly. The crab arancini was particularly delicious.
D. W.
Good food and service in a beautiful old art deco building by the sea.
B. P.
Ha ha, returned 5 years later and the same lovely waitress. Also same excellent food and service. Lovely venue and stylish 20s building. Thanks again see you sooner next time.
H. B.
We love Dylan's. The Criccieth venue is spectacular and the location stunning. The staff are friendly and service is excellent- efficient and friendly. The food is delicious.
K. A.
Lovely meal in a nice atmosphere. Staff were really nice and very attentive.
K. S.
Varied menu. Lots of choice. Excellent staff service.
S. S.
Great atmosphere, great outlook and lovely food!
J. T.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and with great service. Highly recommended.
L. R.
We've been coming here for a few years as it's close to our caravan.
The food is excellent. The menu is varied and the prices reasonable.
The restaurant is clean, well maintained and a pleasure to spend time.
The sea front tables, when the weather and sky are right, are an absolute dream. We ate here the other day, on an outside table, and could honestly have been anywhere in the Mediterranean. Incredible.
We'll continue to be returning regularly.
a. m.
Website indicated reduced menu on offer but only a couple of dishes not available. 2 specials on the chalk board. Friendly welcome and prompt service. All staff wearing face masks as required. Table adjacent ours was not in use to allow for social distancing. Card payments only and staff instructed not to accept cash tips but gratuity can be added to card payment. We went with fish dishes but chicken and beef dishes also on offer. Unable to comment on vegetarian or vegan options. We ate early 6pm but still a good atmosphere. Have eaten here before and it can get quite noisy when rammed but current number of covers in our opinion made it a better dining experience for a "couple". Tbh couldn't fault our food so it's a 4 star plus. Reduced menu perhaps stops a 5 star rating but this should be weighed against current pandemic issues. Support your local restaurants!!!
J. G.
Excellent food. Staff were fantastic and really welcoming.
Y. J.
Been here a few times for lunch, first time in the evening.
Busy, but waited an hour for our mains..one meal was dried up as if been left on a hot plate while other meals being prepared.. my chicken in a basket was dry, had 1/2 a teaspoon of coleslaw .
Pudding came with small jug if custard, that came out in one lump..
Not the best
D. C.
Had whitebait to start . Lovely . My wife had the mackerel pate . She said it was delicious . I went for the steak for main . It melted in my mouth . Nicest steak I have had in a restaurant for a long time. My wife went for the mussels in garlic and wine . She said they were really nice . Staff were all very friendly . Lovely place and great food .
D. C.
Great service, great food and very good value. Love it.
D. R.
We regularly visit Dylans for a meal, location is great and food very good. Advise booking as always busy especially in holidays
P. C.
Great location and relaxed dining environment. We enjoyed a seafood platter, with a couple of side salads which was enough for two people. The desserts and cocktails were also very good. It's a shame that its so popular, otherwise we would have gone back again during our stay in Wales.
B. S.
Great food, nice location and decor etc, not expensive.
J. I.
Can't fault it at all. Very tasty food, pleasant waitresses and nice views!
j. s.
The sea bass taco was very tasty but too small.
A. P.
We always enjoy Dylan's. Food is excellent and every member of staff is lovely, welcoming and nothing is ever too much of a problem. Also, they have excellent vegan options. It is a must for anyone staying in the area.
t.
Book a table, eat here, enjoy the view - you won't regret it.
H. N.
Great food, wide menu to suit all tastes and preferences. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options. Definitely want to go back. Also lovely building and location with fabulous views.
H. G.
The 'Dorsia' of North Wales.
I'd give it 5 stars if we could get a table there, but the last 3 times we've stayed in Criccieth, the member of staff on the door just laughed at us.
If you want to eat at Dylans, I'd advise trying the one in Llandudno.
Oh and the one in Menai Bridge is just as bad.
Never got in there either.

Lovely location. Exceptional food. Great menu choice and above all else, friendly, welcoming and attentive staff. Glad we made it (we were late due to the high volume of traffic coming out of Wirral in to Wales, but Dylan's kept our table). We'll be back again.
S. P.
Wonderful food, table, service, location and view!
A. D.
Nice building. Good choice. Nice food but possibly a little overpriced. The service was also a little slow as it wasn't busy.
Nice own brand sauce.
d. s.
Very nice place however prices can be a bit high depending on what you want. Very friendly staff and great atmosphere

Food was incredible. A tasty lobster linguini for lunch that was worth every penny and crisp sauvingion to accompany. The staff were very attentive and very wuick service. Highly recommended.
A. G.
A great restaurant with brilliant menu. We loved the small changes this time around (not that there was anything wrong with the old menu!), and the staff are never less than fantastically welcoming. Would give Dylan's six stars if I could.
A. H.
Recommend booking as this restaurant is very popular with good reason. We had a lovely meal and the atmosphere was great.
k. c.
Great place to eat. And very helpful and accommodating.
O. B. J.
Really tasty food, terrible service. Slow and unattentive.
M. W.
Such a great place to eat whatever your tastes. Professional feel with a strong local flavour. Lot of choice on the menu which appealed to both kids and adults. It's very popular so booking ahead is usually needed.
A. D.
We only stopped for coffee but the girls were great at the bar and the place was clean and tidy. The lavatories are antique and worth a visit!
A. C.
Lovely food and service and they let dogs in
A. W.
Excellent service and lovely food. The industry has obviously had to make a lot of changes relating to covid, making jobs in this sector even more challenging. Despite all of this and a small handfull of unnecessarily demanding customers in these already difficult times, the team at Dylan's worked well together and everything ran very smoothly. Thanks for a great family lunch.
p. h.
Location was great and staff nice but unfortunately the food did not live up to expectations. Pasta overcooked, pizza looked like it had came out of a box and the coleslaw to accompany the burger was the smallest portion I've ever seen.
g. a.
Excellent meal, knowledgeable staff, good atmosphere
J. H.
Excellent food, great value. Friendly staff, great service.
M. M.
Was great to find fresh oysters to eat.
J. H.
Great casual dining with stunning beach views. First time back since lockdown and still good. Greeted by friendly staff and taken to a well spaced table. We had three courses that were perfectly cooked and presented. Looking forward to next visit.
Z. M.
Went last Saturday. Great food but there was no ambience due to all the signs up about covid and the masks. Note that this was the restaurants choice and not legally required. I may go back once they grow a pair.
J. R.
Food was excellent but the menu has been reduced quite extensively. There is certainly an increase in the prices especially the sweets and the triple sharing pud has gone, such a loss it was a real treat.
K.
Food was very nice, my first time having scallops for starter, very tasty. Linguine for main was lovely. only down point was my partner had hake, which came with 3 potatoes, no vegetables, again very nice, but not enough for an adult meal, but I suppose it is a fine dining restaurant, as opposed to the local pub.. staff pleasant as well and view would have been good, but heavy wind and rain.!
m. L.
Large establishment but NOT SERVING FOOD. not very hospitable.
v. c.
Great meal with a great view in a family friendly environment
H. M.
Tasty food. Staff are helpful, friendly and caring. Booked for outside dining, due to covid restrictions, received a call warning that due to high winds umbrellas would not be up. Risked it and when the rain started staff changed our food to takeaway for our main course without any issues at all. They also brought out umbrellas to try and shelter us before we abandoned them.

A beautiful restaurant on the sea front at Criccieth. Delightful fish dishes and friendly staff. Nice grill options, and a pizza and burger menu too.
i. f.
Lovely food, great service. They were so kind about the mess my son made. Thanks!
J. E. H.
The food was very good. Unfortunately the experience was spoiled by the very slow service that all customers seemed to have. We were told that it was because they were short staffed. In that circumstance Dylan's should not have taken so many bookings.
R. J.
What an amazing restaurant good quality food and service .
G. S.
Excellent lunch with extremely helpful and friendly staff.
J. W.
We ate outside from the posh fish and chip van, it was gorgeous in nearly every way. It would have been even better if the bins weren't so near the outdoor seating, they just chipped the L off Luxe Welsh.
P. R.
We were so lucky to be able to get a table without booking. The restaurant is set in such a beautiful building! The food, staff and ambiance was wonderful
R. H.
We’ve been here many times and have always had a fantastic meal in superb settings.
With some establishments, you get the impression that they put the prices at a certain price to give the notion that what you’ll be served is quality. With Dylan’s the prices (in my opinion) are very honest for the superb quality of the dishes which are always tasty and beautifully presented.
The staff are always on hand to help and assist.
Like I said, we’ve been many times, and we’ll be going back many times again!
L. M.
Great staff, good food and lovely use of the building!!
A. D.
Really nice setting for a great meal in a lovely area of the world
K. T.
Beautiful views on a terrace outside overlooking Criccieth beach. Food was very tasty, with gluten free and vegan options - we enjoyed the Angharad Tacos (Sweet Potato, Hummus and Red Pepper) from the from the pop up van outside!
J. W.
Really great food and nice service.
Nice lighting and good music,
I've seen a fair amount of unfair reviews on here complaining about waits for food.
I'm assuming this is holiday makers stressed out with a lot of children, maybe if you're not interested in waiting in a restaurant for your food a McDonald's would be a better idea?
Besides, I specifically timed my wait. It was fifteen minutes and the restaurant was busy at the time. Great place and people reviewing it seem to be a tad dramatic.
P. B.
First class restaurant delivered in style by lovely engaging staff. Art deco building lovingly restored, very bright in the sunlight overlooking Cardigan Bay. Nice toilets but watch the glass on the doors as warned on the notice. Generous portions served for a reasonable price and excellent coffee. Large bar area if you just want a drink and a snack. Best to call ahead and reserve especially in the summer. 5 stars.
t. j.
Lovely as usual, fab service and food
F.
Fantastic place in Criccieth. Varied menu with plenty of options. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great place and will return when we are in the area next.
T. “. H.
Delicious!
A bit on the pricey side, but good portion sizes mean you don't leave feeling short changed!
J. M.
Great location and a good choice of meals...
G. R.
Fantastic location . Great food. Great staff. A must visit.
K. M.
Went to this restaurant recently. Staff really friendly, service very good. Food excellent. Four in our party and all agreed the food was fantastic. Presentation was professional, meals were so tasty and desserts lovely. Not overly expensive either. I would definitely recommend.
S. P.
Fantastic from start to finish. Great Art Deco building, from first entering the restaurant greeted with a warm welcome. Good choice on the menu for both food and drinks. Fantastic seafood and champions local produce very well. One of the must visit restaurants in North Wales.
D. P.
Fantastic meal today great view
P. F.
We sat out overlooking the sea. Had food and drinks from the van. Very busy but enjoyable.
p. h.
Fabulous meal, great staff and clean surroundings. I would be happy to eat here every day.
Prices acceptable for the quality of food and service. Book so your not disappointed when going for a meal (busy even with covid restrictions).
J. S.
We really enjoyed the food. The staff and service was also great. The building is really nice too.
The views and location is really good and parking was easy with the car park next door. £1 for 4 hours.
Well worth a visit. I will be coming back if I am in the area.
N. J.
Wonderful family celebration night out as it is always when we visit & have done over many years. Great to see the restaurant open & full again during these challenging times.
A. T.
The 2 dishes I ate were truly delicious - the seafood chowder being absolutely the best ever & the spicy beef tacos were ace too! Excellent service from efficient & friendly staff & the location & views were impressive too.
M. C.
Fab food, good service, gorgeous location.
H. H.
Really lovely art deco building and dining terrace with unbeatable views. Really friendly and helpful staff (Dan served us and was great). The beer and drinks are very good - lots of choice including cocktails - and well made. We had a prawn Thai green curry and a burger and both were good
A. L.
In these strange times it’s just so refreshing to be greeted with such a lovely team of staff. The food was excellent but I stayed for the service.
So many other restaurants make the COVID guidelines part of their opening line and deliver them with brash totalitarian personality. It was refreshing to be greeted with a smile and casual conversation before having my corona rights read.
Keep at it Dylan’s you’re doing it right.
B. G.
Gorgeous building and beautiful views of the bay, its next to the beach.
Food is ok. Very mainstream and very middle of the road. Nothing special, it's like any chain restaurant really.
Go for the location which is stunning.
C. G.
First time visiting this Dylans but the food is always consistently good. The Criccieth restaurant is in a great location overlooking the sea.
R. R. (. M. R.
Another fantastic visit. The staff have worked hard to create an excellent dining experience after the easing of lock down. If you are wanting to go, make sure you book first otherwise you won't get to eat their great food!
J. H.
Amazing meal, great ambience and service. Sat in the window watching the world go by. We will return
L. B.
It was a pleasant experience. Located on the coast and gorgeous ambience. Food was excellent. Especially liked the crab starter and dessert trio. Make sure to book in advance.
M. M.
Great we always go there when we go to N.Wales .. we live in Berkshire
E. B.
Lovely building with fantastic views over the bay and Criccieth Castle. The young staff are all very friendly and professional and are happy to advise on something to eat. For me, the reason to go, is for the fish - lobster, chowder, hake, moules... And if you fancy a treat, there are a few cheeky cocktails on the menu. What's not to like?
S. H.
This is my second time at Dylan's and the food was delicious! I would recommend the pizza (had this on both visits). My partner had the salmon and he really enjoyed it. The staff and service are very good, came over in good time to ask about drinks order and then ordering of the food. Very busy restaurant so would recommend booking in advance - its a good sign that it is busy! I would recommend this place for friends and family, very nice location overlooking the sea. We will be back in August!
J. E.
Another great meal. Dog friendly but limited tables so book ahead if possible. Staff really helpful.
S. O.
Called in yesterday
to book a table for 8 of us before Christmas.
Lovely member of staff booked us in and even said which table we will have. Lovely ambiance there too. Look forward to our Christmas meal.
K. H.
Food was lovely but weather was terrible. So sitting outside was a bit of a problem. Not there fault as it’s the times we are in. Hope they can get a marquee to help with this. Realise building is probably listed As it is a lovely example of art deco design.
f. s.
I am gluteon free so last week I asked if they had a gluteon free curry, they said yes so I asked for chicken curry. When it arrived it was quite large but found out it was a Vegan curry and they had added chicken it was verry nice but they charged for a vegan curry and then for a chicken breast. So when we paid I mentioned this double payment and was told when we went again they could just make for me a plain gluteon free chicken curry. Went again tonight and I mentioned this and was told yes that would be ok. So lookin forward to a plain gluteon free chicken curry went backand asked the waitress for this but when it arrived it was rice, spinach, a whole piece of chicken and some curry sauce poured on top. Surely with a large resturant like Dylans it is not much to ask for a simple Gluteon free chicken curry. When I paid the bill I mentioned this to the waitress and she just said sorry but no other explanation .
L. M.
Lovely location and very friendly staff but the food was very disappointing.
Stale bread in the bread basket and on the burger, uncooked pizza bases, cheapest of ingredients in everything, frozen chips!!!! (how hard is it to peel a spud?) low rent ginger beer in the cocktails and generally everything seemed to be done as cheaply as possible and nothing was done really well. The prices were crazily high considering the quality.
Can't understand why everyone is so polite with their reviews. Is it that people expect low quality and the bar has been set really low? A good chef could rectify every problem in an afternoon and make it fabulous. Such a shame to waste the building.
L. P.
The scallops were amazing! I love visiting here whenever I'm in north Wales with family
R. F.
Great family meal. Most amazing view.
D. M.
Great setting in the bay, with views of the castle. Option to eat outside, ordering from a more limited menu worked really well, as we had dogs
V. S.
Great food, lovely views, friendly staff. You can't park in the car park unless you have a blue badge. There's pay and display parking next to Dylan's in a car park or along the sea front. Further up the hill you can park for free.
You can take your dog in, on one side of the restaurant which is dog friendly.
There's a varied menu including desserts and drinks. It's worth a trip if you're in the area!
P. I. T. K.
The building and the location here are superb. The menu has something for everyone and the portions are very generous. Great for groups. The quality of the food is generally high but could be even better with a few minor tweaks. The service is friendly and eager but can be a bit chaotic at busy times. Popular, so make sure you book.
D.
Great meal wonderful staff great location 👍👍👍
M. T.
Brilliant place to have a drink outside taking in the view.
G. R.
Really lovely restaurant with amazing views. The food was good too. Excellent, efficient service too.
A. W.
Spent a week in Wales for our mini honeymoon and came here to eat on the penultimate night. So pleased we did, it was quiet but then it was also February so low season. But the food was delicious and the restaurant is beautiful and overlooks the water. Such a lovely, peaceful, first meal together as a married couple.
u.
We were staying at the lovely Bron Rhiw Guest House run by Andy & Tina Croot who suggested we have our evening meal at Dylan's , me managed to book a table for 4 on Saturday night. We felt safe how they are running the restaurant and our meals came well presented and very enjoyable and not forgetting the great location. Thank you Dylan:s
N. W.
Food was brilliant and the location is amazing
M. T.
Not what I'd hoped for based on family recommendations. Staff friendly and efficient but the food was a bit of a let down. It's decent but for the prices it was a disappointing visit.
R. C.
Visited on 03/08/2018. Amazing food. Great service. Fed a table of 7 (5 adults and 2 children under 8) for under £115 including a mains, desserts and a round of soft drinks.Would highly recommend this place. I would advise you to book in advance as Dylan's is very popular and obviously gets busy!
L. W.
Loved it, great food & service 😍
L. O.
This was our first time at this restaurant, we normally go to Menai, but booked here for a change. It's a lovely art deco building with fantastic views. The staff were attentive and the service time was quick especially for a busy bank holiday. We had a fantastic meal, the taco starter and pate were so tasty and the rump steak was cooked to perfection and beautifully tender and the thai curry was delicious. Would have no hesitation in recommending this venue.
D. P.
Lovely food, great setting in Criccieth, Welsh speaking staff too so well done for that, chicken in the basket was a huge portion!
C. C.
Great restaurant, food is good, but take away your have to order in advance. Good dinning with outside tables, and snack bars in the day
a. e.
Consistent, caring service and quality food.
This restaurant commands beautiful views over Criccieth Bay and serves food & drink too match. It specialises in seafood but there are plenty of other menu options if that's not your bag. The decor is stylish & considered. The menu is clearly carefully considered & staff friendly, helpful & attentive.
I've eaten here twice and can't think of a single detracting feature. Keep up the good work Dylan's, you deserve success.
b. d.
Gorgeous food and cocktails. Will be returning and would highly recommend
C. W.
Lovely food from Dylan's van. Unfortunately no room in the restaurant but good to seeing a local business doing well. We will remember to book next time
B. W.
Really nice food and service. Couldn't fault it!
k. S.
Went here before 3 hour drive home and was 5star from start to finish, I visited with two grandchildren, they said it was the best sausage and chips they'd ever had. I had haddock and chips with salad which was absolutely delicious and amazing, the staff were very polite and friendly and helpful. I will definitely be visiting them again in few weeks!
E. L.
Great setting (art deco style building with seaview). Fine selection of meals prepared with ingredients of high quality, the food was very taste. Reasonably priced. Friendly staff. We had dinner with 2 adults and 2 children (age 8 and 14) for a bit less than £60. We would definitely return to Dylan's. Recommended when you are in the area of Porthmadog. Reservation in advance is recommended, as the place is frequented a lot.
M. C.
The food was well cooked and the staff were very helpful. All augmented by a great view of Criccieth Castle. Well worth a visit.
K. G.
Only stopped for a drink but menu looked excellent. Lovely spot too.
S. M.
Fantastic location on the seafront. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Covid compliant but polite in enforcing. My starter of arancini was lovely but sadly I chose the wrong main. Sweet potato tikka curry... Completely tasteless.
S. P.
It's a restaurant, we went in for coffee and a bit of cake. We felt like we were in Second Class at one side, they didn't offer to bring the drinks to the table. The drinks were good and although cake choice was very limited the millionaires shortbread was very nice. We felt the staff could have been more welcoming and the cafe/bar side of the business could be advertised a bit more outside which would bring in more passing trade.
D. H.
I hadn't been here for a long time, since back when it was a tired cafe and amusement arcade. Wow has the place changed! Redecorated to really show off the fabulous art deco building it is gorgeous inside and out. Food was great and reasonably priced, the menu had almost too much choice. Gets busy so recommend booking in high season. I will definitely be back.
G. P.
Lovely spot for a quiet lunch in winter with fantastic food
R. G.
Great place to eat, staff were very attentive
You need to book for the restaurant but outside on the beach boardwalk you can sit down at a table and enjoy a drink from Dylan's outside van
k. s.
Great food and lovely location recommended.
c. m.
Excellent food, great menu choices, friendly staff, ideal location overlooking the seafront. Highly recommend the moules mariniere. Definitely need to book ahead
C. E.
Brilliant place very classy, friendly and helpful staff.
J. R.
Very friendly, efficient staff. Lovely food, value for money. Prefer not to sit close to Kids playground, next time.
R. C.
Really nice pub/restaurant, great selection of drinks and even though we didn't eat the food that we seen looked really good. Right on the sea front which gives way to eating outside on a sunny day a lovely way to spend some quality time. Staff were great as well, we had the pooch with us so a bowl of fresh water was brought out by the friendly staff.
