Reviews of Loon Fung Cantonese Restaurant
R. F.
Authentic Chinese cuisine with great food and modern decoration is great for dinning experience. You won’t be disappointed on the quality they delivered. It is clean and tidy with proper distance amongst tables.

This was a special treat because I was meeting friends I had not seen for a very long time. This restaurant is located on the very busy Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow. Once inside it is so smart it has a certain ambience. My friends had been here before and it was pretty busy for Monday lunchtime. I enjoyed the Chinese tea, sweet & sour chicken then banana fritters. I liked the fact we were not chased away even although we stayed well past 2pm. The restaurant was at one point full so it is advisable to book in advance. It was a great experience and it was wonderful to see my friends again.

Super nice and tasty Dim sum restaurant!!!
True cantonese food! except for mango pudding :(
Staffs are nice and friendly.
last order at 10pm
Worth to try

Having wanted to try their dim sum for a while I finally found the chance. I am very happy with the food, delicious, authentic and the portions are good. The service is efficient and the new renovation of the restaurant makes it a comfortable place for dining.
K. H.
Visited Glasgow on vacation and was craving for dim sum. They have a variety of options and reasonable prices! Three dishes were around 25 pounds.
N. L.
Good Cantonese food, which is a Hong Kong style food. Looks small from front but really opens out at the back. Dim sum seems to be served all day and the roast meats are good. I had the pork dumplings which were plump and fresh. Special house noodles and rice in lotus leaf. All really nice.
S. D.
First ate here in 1990. Has fluctuated in quality somewhat since then, but certainly since its most recent renovation it is back to its very best. Polite, attentive staff, really excellent food, fast service and good value. Seems to have excellent options for those seeking authentic dishes as well as the more typical Glasgow favourites. Went on a Tuesday night and it was busy, which is the best testimonial going.
Y. M.
Good food though really expensive (even the expensive end of London price) had their roast duck noodles soup and the siu mai and was pretty happy by them. The noodles were of good portion too
E. F.
Newly renovated Loon Fung. Completely new look. Bright and vibrant restaurant. Complete menu with Chinese and English language on the menu. Food portions top quality!
I. S.
Possibly the best Chinese restaurant in Glasgow, has been around since the early 70s and has been recently renovated.
The food certainly doesn't need renovated because it's the tastiest and best Chinese menu in the city. The service is great and very friendly and attentive. I can highly recommend a visit, you will not be disappointed!! 👌👌👌
C. D.
One of my favourite restaurants. The love affair started when i was an undergrad at GSA and has only grown. All of the usual fare. The Dim Sum is amazing and the black bean chicken feet are a personal fave.
C. M.
A great traditional Chinese restaurant that has been here for quite a long time, can't believe I never knew about it before! They do a good selection of Dim Sum dishes with loads to choose from. I'd highly recommend trying it out as it allows you to try a lot of different things.
The food is very good and not too expensive, the staff are very friendly and it always seems to be very busy with Asian people which is a good sign. I'll definitely be going back!
P. D. C.
Stylish city restaurant with excellent selection of delicious dishes. Good lunchtime and pre-theatre offers. Friendly, attentive service. Limited selection of excellent vegetarian dishes.
V. C.
The food is good. We enjoyed our meal here. First time eating dim sum, prawn, mango pudding and durian for my boyfriend and he rated this place 10/10! Everything we ordered were good. The only set back was the shanghai dumpling. I think the ginger is a little too over powering, but others might enjoy it. Will definitely come back next time we are in Glasgow!
J. D.
A bustling Chinese restaurant with nice dim sum. A friend said this was some of the best dim sum in Scotland. The dim sum was tasty and well prepared. It was full of local Chinese, a good sign. There are special dim sum only available on Sunday. I wish there was a bit more variety of flavors. I look forward to visiting again.
D. B.
The best Chinese meal I have ever eaten!!!! Attentive and accomodating staff. Restaurant was very clean and authentically decorated. We had chosen it on a Google search so were pleasantly surprised how lovely it was. Would highly recommend
J. I.
Tastefully decorated, excellent customer service, nice food and VIP KTV karaoke 🎤 room available
Á. P.
I think I am addicted to Loon Fung, come here a bit too often for a Sunday yum cha. Service is very efficient and the food fab. Always feels a bit like being away from rainy Glasgow
C. R.
20% off bill before 4pm on weekdays!
Authentic, large dishes at reasonable prices.
M. P.
Pure 24K Gold - Been to several other Chinese restaurants in Glasgow but this one ✔️ all the hallmarks. The best one so far.
D. W.
I’ve been visiting the Loon Fung for over forty years and it seldom disappoints! We love the Dim Sum but there’s so much on the menu that you’ll find something to suit all tastes. Staff and hosts are always welcoming and whenever we’re in Glasgow we find the place hard to resist!
Portion sizes are generous so you won’t leave hungry! I’d also recommend ordering something different to what you might normally order in a Chinese restaurant. We’re all creatures of habit but the Loon Fung is a great place to experiment!
We look forward to our return!
J. M.
Food was good, staff were friendly and decoration was cool
C. S.
I do miss the old decor had the nostalgic feel, 3 roast mmmmmmmmmmm sticky rice mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm and I could just go on best to go try fir your self yum yum !!!!!!!!
T. L.
Cantonese place in Glasgow, last visited 30 years ago, food good as ever. They found me a place without having booked on Chinese New Year day! Only comment, not like 30 years ago when the waiters were rude now they have turned nice, too nice.
S. G.
Lovely food well worth the visit
J. C.
First time here.
From the outside it is very deceiving. Walked past many a time. Seating area through the back. Nice place, food was lovely is definitely worth a visit. Huge menu to choose from if your adventurous
S. 9.
Quick Takeawsy service and delicious Dim Sum and Rice Snacks♡
L. C.
Food was lovely. Service excellent. Lucky find for us as they also offered a pre- theatre menu which was reasonably priced.
S. C.
Good authentic Chinese food, the staff are not very responsive tho.
K. T.
The food was delicious, almost made it to 5 stars, but for the not-so-friendly staff.
A. V.
Very appetising Cantonese food, a must visit for all the foodie!! Warm ànd friendly staff. I would recommend to reserve a table in advance to avoid wait time.
S. B.
After seeing the extensive work they were doing during lockdown, we had to give Loon Fung a try. Wow! Extremely varied and sometimes exotic menu has something for everyone. The service was friendly and speedy, and the decor was gorgeous. I'm so glad we live so close!
M. B.
Great dim-sum, just like being back in Hong Kong. Highly recommended.
r. M.
Stunning food. Great service. Really nice atmosphere... The duck is so good. The pork is too. The staff made the place very special. The decor and seating perfect.
J. M.
It is very good with the new management. The food is tasty and the service is good. The new decor has made the restaurant so much more welcoming. Been visiting regularly.
M. C.
Fine food, service and price are OK.
It's always very warm there no matter the season. So make sure to have a thin layer for eating in.
T. M.
Good Atmosphere, food is nice! Not amazing but good! It is massive and has a massive selection of food!
A. Y.
Nice Chinese restaurant located in Glasgow city centre. Good oriental cuisine and courteous service. Can book tables by phone beforehand. Reasonable prices.
L. W.
One of the best dimsum restaurants across the UK!
A. K. L.
One of the best Chinese restaurant in Glasgow!

Great restaurant, staff were friendly and the food wonderful

Best dim sum and Cantonese cuisine in Glasgow
J. H. R.
My first ever meal in a Loon Fung restaurant was some Forty plus years ago, in the one at FountainBridge in Edinburgh. Shortly after that I discovered the one on Sauchiehall Street. I’ve been going there for a long time now and can honestly say I’ve never had a bad meal, the Cantonese food is excellent. The service can at times be a little remote, verging on inscrutable, but that comes with the territory. But mostly the waiting staff are friendly and attentive, plus leaving a good tip gets you remembered the next time you dine.
As in life everything varies over time, but I nor my family have ever been disappointed by a meal in the Loon Fung.
J. H.
Fantastic food, great service, lovely restaurant.
Would highly recommend getting the 3 meat roast with crispy noodles.
A. K.
Great Hong Kong experience! The dishes taste exactly what I ate in Hong Kong. Plus, many staff there can speak Cantonese.
K. F.
By far the best dim sum I’ve eaten in my 50 years. Great interior, friendly staff, you must visit if you like Dim Sum
R. E.
Now this is what you call a classic dim sum restaurant. Family friendly, amazing food. Not expensive either!
D. M.
Great food but unfortunately the restaurant suffers from a number of issues.
1) they give you Chinese tea without asking for it. In all other dim sum restaurants, it's complimentary. Not so here. Nobody minds paying for tea if they ask for it but putting it on your table without you asking for it then charfing for it is another matter.
2) The service here is horrific. Many of the staff look unhappy to be working there and won't serve you unless you're waving at them and even then they look like you're putting them out to ask for anything (cutlery in my case)
3) Holiday surcharge - watch out for this. They will put an extra charge on the bill during Christmas. Again, nobody would mind if they told you beforehand.
This place would be a lovely place to eat if it weren't for these issues so if you're aware of these things at least you won't get surprised.
i. b.
A Cantonese restaurant where many Chinese people eat. No better recommendation!
A.
Fantastic - just had a really nice meal at Loon Fung. First time there and will definitely go back. Great food (huge portions, best for sharing - don’t overorder...), nice decor and super attentive service, our waiter went out of his way to make us feel welcome and well looked after. Thoroughly recommend it.
L. C.
Newly refurbished and modernised but decor lacks interest.
Food is average.
Selection of dim sum is good and wait times are good.
S. R.
Unfortunately didn't manage to take photos but the food was amazing..We ordered roast duck, stuffed chili, crab meat rolls, spicy lamb, and an aubergine dish. We loved it all. Our kids did too. Authentic Asian spices used so if you're not food adventurous or turn your nose up at the aromatic Asian spices then don't go..but if you want less Westernised dishes and tastes then this is the place for you.
Z. Y. W.
Very delicious dimsum with very lovely staffs. They have been very polite and helpful. Would definitely recommend this place
J. R.
I have been eating here for sometime being one of the many "gwai lo" to that does. I have always found it to be a great place to eat the food is always enjoyable and hot, some time it can be a bit heavy on the spicy side. I have notice that the portion size has gotten smaller on the Din Sum side as 8 Din Sum normally would leave my partner and I "full belly" as he would say, but not now.
C. L.
Super authentic place - judging from the staff, the food and guests. The food is served fast and you usually don't have to wait to be seated as there is plenty of space inside. Their dim sums are the best in Glasgow.
J. B.
Food was good. Service was good. My wife loves Loon Fung - she wld give it 6 stars if she cld. Unfortunately I wld have preferred to be watching the Man Utd v Liverpool match n cldnt watch on my mobile as reception is terrible.
It's a huge restaurant. It's got a great choice n prices are reasonable for city centre venue. 👍🏼
L. S.
Had two meals, lunch and dinner, here. Lovely food. Great dim sum for lunch and wonderful duck dishes. There vegetarian chow mian was a good value. Advice: don't order too much.
g. l.
An very enjoyable experience for my wife and I yesterday evening. The staff was informative and altered elements of the menu to suit our taste. Food was great and authentic, ambiance good, service was a bit slow but maybe ... we were watching the time due to our next appointment. We definitely will return when next in glasgow.
T. C. 6.
Great Authentic cuisine, the best Dim Sum in Glasgow 👌 it is quite pricy for some items but considering the preparation taken to make it great quality I really do advise it. If u want to taste what it's like in Hong Kong go here
T. C.
Fantastic food and lovely atmosphere
J. C.
This restaurant serves really decent Cantonese style dim sums. There are many seats to choose from and the decor inside is quite traditional. We highly recommend the char su bao and sticky rice with chicken from the dim sum menu. The dumplings are delicious too. It does not take long for food to be served. There are television mounted on the wall just in case you want to watch the news.
K. D.
Tried a lot of different Cantonese restaurants in Glasgow and this is by far my favorite for both an evening meal or dim sum. Portion size is generous and great value for money. In laws from HK loved this place.
s. b.
The was delicious 😋 good proper Chinese food 😋🥰
P. H.
Authentic Cantonese food, pays great attention to customers and serves in a nice manner, had a dinner here the Cantonese roast was simply the best I had in Scotland, even better than those in London China town!
C. M.
Great, authentic Chinese food with great specials that you would expect to find only in Hong Kong. Service is a bit season and crowd dependent, but no more so than any other large Chinese restaurant. One of my favourite restaurants, recommended for yamcha with family and friends on a Sunday!
B. S.
Very good food and friendly staff. They will cater to your every need, quickly, and painlessly. There is a very wide selection of authentic Cantonese foods. I will definitely visit many more times.
H. y. H.
Almost the same taste as the restaurant in HONG KONG.
J. M.
Dim sum was amazing and place looked fab with its new look . Well worth the wait , will definitely be back soon
j. g.
Great place to eat especially from Dim Sum menu. Have tried and liked many traditional dishes. Been going for many years. Stephen is one of most helpful guys in here.
S. T.
Best Dimsum in Glasgow. Plenty of tables but I will recommend reservations. The dimsum is authentic and the price is reasonable. Just look at how many Chinese patrons they have and you know the food is good. They also do fairly good lunch dimsum deal. Only problem with this restaurant is parking is really difficult because of its central location. However, it is not far from Charing Cross station.
Y. C.
Big portions! Generally food is good here with decor that gives off a tradtional canto chinese restaurant vibes, roast items however were not impressive (i.e char siew wasnt charred the slightest bit) but will not stop me from going back again!
J. M.
Great food, reasonable pricing.
Good tasting with a varied menu.
M. R.
Outstanding. So tasty and fantastic staff.
r. c.
Great food establishment the food was really nice I particularly enjoyed the dumplings and salt n chilli chicken. My first time at the place and I must say the staff are lovely and the restaraunt itself was exquisite.
E. F.
Would hightly recommend the Loon Fung as Glasgow's go to Cantonese restaurant. Superb menu and consistently excellent food. Staff very helpful - they know the menu so ask if you're unsure about any items - excellent service.
N. P.
Delicious food and beautiful interior.
C. H.
Having loads of Chinese friends, i have eaten here LOADS of times. Great Dim Sum, Great Evening meals, and stereotypically fast efficient Chinese service.
Lobster noodles are brilliant, Sam Siu roast is another winner. But if you're there for Dim Sum - you have to try their Crispy Prawn and Beancurd Wraps.
I could eat those all day for the rest of my life and not get tired of them.
Kids welcome and they speak a few Chinese languages if you have Asian guests with you.
S. M.
Been coming to the Loon Fung since the 80's and love everything about this place; unique decor, pleasant staff and the best authentic Cantonese food I've ever had. Although I don't live in glasgow now, I always try and make a visit here. It's where the Chinese community eat, which says it all. If you like chinese, its a must.
O. S.
A real hong kong style chinese restaurant. We went for dim sum and it was buzzing with Chinese families. Classy food, lovely char sui bao and cheung fun tremendous choices good service lashings of jasmine tea. I cannot fault it.
G.
Come here a few times in the year to meet up with family and the food here never dissapoints me, top quality chinese food, for the price it is abit debatable but otherwise a very clean resturant with decent food and friendly staff.
C. X.
Very good Cantonese restaurant. Seated our 10pax with no problem for dinner. Price is reasonable and food is tasty. Would recommend for those looking for Cantonese food.
D. W.
Smashing chili squid and salt pepper chicken . Dim sum to die for. An amazing place. If I'll say just one thing to help you the Appetizer sharing platter was the only thing I would avoid, as it's; toast, seaweed, a spare rib a chicken scewer and what I'll describe as a tasteless giant deep fried chunk of batter that's as tough as old boots
J. J.
Great dim sum served day time only and great prices. Main menu serves usual chinese food quite good but its not cheap. Good service.
R. C.
Easily the best authentic Chinese in town. Brilliant for a traditional Chinese lunch and big tables allows it to cater to larger parties than your traditional Glasgow resturants.
R. M.
When the staff of one Chinese restaurant recommend that you go to another then things are looking good, and that's what happened to me.
We where not disappointed, excellent dim sum, lovely atmosphere sensible prices.
N. C.
Delicious food, friendly service ,beautifully refurbished , spacious and well ventilated .
M. S.
Good foods and nice services!
M. O.
Food was amazing, the restaurant was spotless clean, great service
A.
Food was top class and plentiful for a great price, very attentive, efficient staff and all this in absolutely beautiful surroundings.
Will most certainly be back to dine here in the near future.
J. H.
Good cantonese food. Great chinese doughnut rice rolls. The doughnut was nice and soft. Xo turnip cake lacks flavour and fried cuttlefish cakes were okay. The rest of the food was good and good portions too.
C. C.
Decent Chinese restaurant that served a good spread of dim sum. Had the Siew Mai, har gow, Chee Cheong fan, and the century egg porridge. Well made dim sum and the porridge was big enough to share. However the custard buns were not as good and had a solid filling.
L. T.
Food was nice, lovely place inside. Attentive staff.
D. H.
Simply the best dim sum in Glasgow. Always busy (good sign). If you want good authentic Chinese food then this is the place.
T. C.
As ever the food was amazing. The restaurant was very busy so sadly food a bit slow.
L. M.
This place is just fantastic! The food is incredibly tasty. Nothing much else to say as the food speaks for itself! Cant wait to go back!
J. Y. (.
Very popular with Chinese community. Went for lunch and dim sum menu is good. Menu has English and Chinese and a book to show images of what you are ordering if you unsure.
