Reviews of Mother India's Cafe
J. S.
Here’s a fact for you all- Mother India cafe does the best curry in Glasgow, no questions asked. Don’t waste your time anywhere else and head straight here. Great veggie ( and meat) curries, amazing bread and sides and incredible service!
F. R.
Fantastic food. I love the small plates approach ( have as much or as little as your appetite craves) and the garlic naan bread is some of the best I have ever eaten.
V. R.
A Glasgow favourite for good reason. Never fails to hit the spot. Great food (GREAT!!) friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Can do no wrong
G. E.
My favourite Indian food option in Glasgow (& Edinburgh). Staff here are brilliant, ambiance is fantastic and the food (veggie for me) is ALWAYS top quality. Definitely worth a visit, try to book early, quality means busy!!! Also great views from the window of the museum.
C. S. L.
Food was good not exceptional. Staff very polite with excellent service. But every thing served very quickly . I ordered all at same time but thought that they will ask before serving. So we got everything on our table. We wanted to have more drinks but food was getting cold . Dessert was very good. Can you imagine that we finished our dinner with wine 🍷, starter & mains in 35 min. It was so hush bush. Otherwise it's good experience of Indian food in Glasgow.
J. K.
The best Indian restaurant in Glasgow 😍 Delicious food with reasonable price :) I tried another Indian restaurant but it was overpriced and not that great.
S. S.
I tried Mother India's Cafe in Edinburgh where the was authentic Indian food really loved it.
Here i have experience the same taste of the food ,if you are looking for a Best India food in Glasgow you should give a try the food prices are not not over priced.
Will highly recommend this place to have Good India authentic food

Oh my. Lovely food, lovely service, awesome value for money. First come, firet served. Tapas style so great for sharing. 100% be back, sooo tasty!
E. S.
Superb Indian restaurant. The food is authentic, incredibly fragrant and so satisfying. The tapas style allows for sharing of dishes and is so affordable when sharing with others. Staff are super friendly too. High recommend this place for quality Indian food.
C. S.
This is a cafe and you have to queue for a table. It is so worth it. Great service, nice beer, food is outstanding. Reasonably priced. Just eat here, you will like it.
A. P.
The best dinning experience in Glasgow so far. I’m a big fan of Indian food, so I was in heaven with the diversity and quality of the food. The place is lovely and staff super gentle. Quite affordable too!
J. M.
Absolutely wonderful for a sociable evening. Delicious Tapas size portions which keep coming. Relaxed atmosphere. Friendly helpful staff.
S. T.
Kind and diligent service. Delicious food.
c. h.
Great selection of food. Small tapas size so lets you try a few. Prices reasonable and staff friendly. Defo worth a visit.
R. A.
Distinctly average. Not as good as it used to be:
- aloo gobi was all potatoes and was half hot, half cold
- the roti was like a popadum and far too crispy
- chicken karahi was also cold
- machi masala was lovely
- staff really nice
Not value for money. Need to up its game.
R. R.
Absolutely delicious, service was delightful 🥰

Anthony Bourdain wasn't kidding - this place is INCREDIBLE. We made a reservation for Mother India the night before and got a reservation for 7:30pm on a Thursday - we arrived an hour early and got seated, no problem, which was great!
We started with a mango lassi (4GBP) which was creamy, slightly savory, and amazingly mango-y. We then ordered the crab and prawn dosa which was so crispy, buttery, and seafoody, and served alongside a great curry-flavored dip. For entrees, we got the lamb with okra and the slow-cooked chicken curry, with a side of radish paratha and basmati. Everything was beautifully spicy, flavorful, and perfectly tender.
All told, our bill was 46 GBP after tip. Come here if you can get in!
G. B.
Great place and authentic Indian food. Very reasonable prices. Staff is really courteous and friendly. Nice aura and convenient location just opposite kelvingrove museum. Definitely recommended!!!
A. L. E.
Best Indian restaurant I've been to. Good variety of food and really nice staff. The garlic naan was the most stunning we have ever tried, really soft, buttery and amazing. Charming design and lighting. Wonder why there was so many working this night? We got served by at least 6 people, seems a lot to me, but who knows? At least it is really worth a visit. Like the tapas style when you share the food you get. Nice because you are able to try different kinds of food without the risk of not liking it! Great!
M. J.
No bookings taken
Just join the queue at the door. . (yes, there Will be a queue). Go in and experience a proper Indian meal. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. This place is LEGEND. 👍
V.
An authentic Indian dining experience, with good flavours and ample portion size. Plenty of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are available. We (party of five) ordered four garlic naans, three meat dishes and one saag paneer; we were completely full and satisfied by the end of the meal. Highly recommend trying the popadoms and mango chutney as well.
R. I.
Food is amazing! Its basic because of Covid but dont let that deter you from going, tasty, and roasting when you get it! Staff are great, understanding and fast. Thank you for my birthday lunch!
S.
The ambience, the decor and the food also the price were absolutely brilliant.
We ordered a pint + half pint of kingfisher indian beer to drink and continued to peruse the food menu. I realised not long after sitting down that the lunchtime rush was thinning out. The decor was modern and clean (?recently refurbished)and there was plenty of staff on duty.
We ordered 4 "Indian tapas" to share with sides of basmati rice/garlic naan between 2. I was aware that tapas usually means that food comes when it's ready and not altogether so it was a shame that there was a wee wait between the fresh, well filled samosas and everything else.
I can say that the service was very good and handled well although I would have liked to have been offered tap water and not have to ask.
One star less as I'm afraid that the toilets let them down. The actual toilet from floor up to the seat looked a bit grimy. Shame as paper, soap and towel were plentiful.
I have lived in Glasgow for a long time and have always wanted to try this restaurant and will certainly visit again.
J. M.
We came here twice on our 5 day stay in Glasgow, that's how much we loved it! Amazing food, loved the tapas style so you can taste different things. Best Indian food I've tasted. Thought the price was fair. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I am 100% coming back here if I'm ever in Glasgow again.
G. T.
Excellent food and service, one of our favourite places to eat out.

Love this place. They don't take bookings so unfortunately usually need to queue but worth it. Smaller, tapas style dishes and everything delicious. Saag paneer is the best I've ever tasted. Thoroughly recommend
G. A.
Very nice restaurant. Excellent service. Very good curries.
G. T.
Quick and good customer service! The waiter noticed when our water was empty and replaced it promptly without being asked.
Nice Indian food with good atmosphere! Good for groups and couples!
Chicken Tikka comes with fries and is a meal on its own! Not recommended to have with anything else unless you're a big eater.
Overall good experience, will visit again for the food and atmosphere
H.
Delicious food and great portion sizes. The fish pakora is the best pakora I’ve had anywhere. Staff and management are very friendly, polite and laid back
You have to wait sometimes but I’ve never waited more than 15mins and it’s well worth it. If you go late afternoon, there’s rarely a wait.
m. j.
A nice place nice stuff , not calm but perable, we chose the spice dishes my wife liked them they were spicy for me , there were other regular dishes with no spices to chose from. A rich menu
P. M.
Awesome dal makhni, in fact all the dishes were great. Innovative, and well balanced. Great for sharing. The peshwari naan was crumbly, sweet and delicious. Good wine list and beer list. And a few nice scotches! Can’t fault the service either, attentive and polite.
M. P.
Worth the 10 minute wait for table, food very tasty, love the small plates lots of variety to choose from, service was excellent and not over priced great value for money would not hesitate to recommend!!
다.
They serve tapas style food so we can order various plates. Garlic nan and chicken curry was really yummy. We had satisfying dinner with reasonable price. Also staffs are really friendly !
K. C.
Love curry, love sharing food, ticks the right boxes if that's your thing. Staff didn't appear enthused to be there but it is a busy gig during the rush. Overall nice experience for sharing food with friends.
G. S.
What can I say? Always 5 stars! Food, service, price. The Butter chicken, the naans+the aloo are perfect!
J. L. f.
Absolute top class food. A great amount of spice/bite. I love it. Toddler loves it. The food is great and the que is long but it is worth the wait. I had originally booked the Mother India restaurant and asked if they are wheelchair accessible. They said yes but were not.The cafe gave me a table immediately and what a view. The toilets were not easily accessible but the tables were shuffled so I could use them. I would prefer not to be a spectacle when approaching the toilets but none the less I return time after time because the food is just so good.
M. T.
The dishes here are more of tapas style, each person orders 2-3 dishes each. Good, affordable food with excellent service!
N. B.
Delicious, authentic Indian food. Attentive but not intrusive service. Good value too. What can I say. Highly recommended. I’ll be back again :-)
J. B.
The food was delicious and was a perfect spot to grab lunch after visiting Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum
D. F.
If you want the best this is the place to eat Indian food in Glasgow, nothing beats it !
n. m.
Second visit and it didn't disappoint this time either. Really recommend this restaurant for beautiful Indian food.
R. M.
One of the best Indian restaurant experiences in Glasgow. Food is of an excellent quality and the staff are super friendly. A really nice atmosphere and food comes to you quickly. You have to be early to avoid queueing, but it's worth a queue.
G. A.
Was not the greatest food was mediocre lamb not cooked long enough dry chicken overall was a big let down as was super keen to try this place I told staff no one seemed to care we left half of it overall poor effort staff were friendly so 6 out of 10 at a push
M. P.
Food was very good. Service was excellent. Very pleasant waiters and waitress as well as front staff. Went today at 21:30, no problem and even provided water and dates for sunset.
S. B.
Highly recommend the South Indian Garlic Lamb.
吴.
Very nice and cosy restaurant . food is really special and delicious!
K. C.
Food was delicious and the service excellent. Can't wait to return. Brilliant
L. R.
Food was good, service was poor, not the fault of the waiting staff! Owners just wanted people in and out uncomfortably quick.
N.
The fish was amazing. All the dishes can be as spice as you like
S. T.
Excellent food and service. Felt a wee bit rushed though.
A. M.
Had s great meal here will definitely visit again when in Glasgow
M. M.
Delicious curries. Never disappoints and well worth waiting in the queue.
A.
Everything we had was delicious. Best Indian food I've ever had, and in fact some of the best food I've ever had. Staff was also very friendly!
A. N.
Good Indian restaurant, very cool and comfortable. Tasty food
M. F.
Amazing Indian all around, well worth a stop in for tapas or a full meal. Only downside is that the menu is smaller than what you might usually find at an Indian restaurant, but you certainly won’t be disappointed by anything you choose
M. A.
Really great, cozy atmosphere. Succulent food and great vegan options.
D. L.
Great food, great atmosphere, be prepared to wait for a table as they don't take bookings but its definitely well worth it.
D. S.
Excellent food quality, lovely staff and amazing prices really has many Mother India's Cafe one of my favourite places to eat in Glasgow. I believe is a must-visit if in the West End and would recommend this place anytime with my eyes closed.
R. T.
Been going here a few years and it's simply one of the best curry houses in Glasgow. Authentic food that's tasty and staff are great. Really good all round
P. u.
Very satisfying food made with good ingredients carefully cooked and excellent value. Light, clean, balanced flavours. The menu is just one page describing each dish clearly. The waiters all knew the menu well, which helped us choose easily. Service was eerily good, there the instant you needed it, unobtrusive when you didn't. The fish pakora was especially outstanding. I've had many Indian meals that were as much about the late licence as the food, for me at least. So I had perhaps lowered my expectations and rarely choose Indian when I eat out since the wild years ended. My loss. Thankfully Mother India reawakened my love of good Indian food.
M. G.
After being in Scotland for over a week this was such a nice change of SPICE and FLAVOR! Mother India's brought me back to life and had me waddling home because I ate so much. The tapas style was great because I had the opportunity to try many delicious dishes. The sauces were savory, the meats were flavorful, and the bread tasted fresh. I love trying new places but almost regret not coming here more than once during my visit. The service was also excellent with very welcoming staff.
K. B.
Delicious gluten-free and vegetarian meal options, the tapas portioned indian is a the perfect food to share with friends.
P. B.
Very simple menu but you could tell that everything would be quality. Everything we tried was delicious, and our waiter was lovely. My new benchmark for curry in this city
L. B.
The food was absolutely amazing but it’s the service that really takes this place to the next levels 10/10
A. C.
Great food and good service, pricing reasonable tae
S. C.
How I want my Indian every time , Curry's always spot on pakoras always crispy , nan chewwy with crunch , is there a better Indian in Glasgow? If so tell me ha
G. M.
Probably one of the best India restaurants in Glasgow. The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff are friendly and helpful and I feel like the tapas style dining really suits Indian food better than monster plates of single dishes.
The cafe used to be famous for the massive queue outside, but on COVID times it's best to phone and book.
f. c.
First visit...but not my last...was recommended to me..very reasonably priced ..usually other places portions are too big with rice and nan...but this was just right...tried fish pakora and south Indian soft lamb (delicious)...no reservations just turn up outside and wait ..(.but so worth it) service is great.. will return
K. G.
Really tasty, high quality Indian tapas. The food on the kids menu isn't brilliant, and is only starter and main, I would rather pay extra and have a desert option for them. The restaurant doesn't take bookings and the premises is quite small, like all West End businesses, so be prepared to wait for a table. I would definitely return, but be more inclined to do so with friends or my just my partner as the atmosphere and dining experience is more suited to the idea of adults chatting, sharing food and having a nice evening rather than family dinner.
C. C.
Outstanding restaurant. We had a long weekend in Glasgow and ended up eating here twice, it was just so good! They have a lovely fresh menu, with daily specials and lots of variety. Everything we tried was delicious. It opened quite late too. Prices affordable.
D. S.
Top quality food and the staff are great hosts , have been coming here every Thursday since starting university.
S. D.
One of my favourite Indian restaurants! The food here is excellent. The dishes are more in the style of tapas so you can experience a few different dishes from the menu which can actually present a challenge as there is plenty of choice of great dishes.
There us usually always a cue out the door here and that alone speaks for it's self. But don't let that put you off, the turnaround is pretty quick and the food is worth the wait! They also provide a take away service too which I have used and the food was really good too. But for best results try the restaurant first to begin with.
M. Ò.
Best staff in any restraunt in Glasgow, always welcoming and friendly, as for the food... Its Mother India there is a reason its the most popular Indian cuisine in Glasgow..
L. V.
Always busy, so make sure you arrange your time appropriately.
R. D.
This is a 5 star review based on fellow feeling and kindness of the staff as much as the really good Indian Food. Note the judgments here come from a group of 5 Americans friends in Glasgow with little knowledge of Indian food. We did order a lot of dishes and 5 Kingfisher beers. We walked in on a Saturday night at 7:15 with no reservations. Thankfully because of the dark, windy and rainy night , there were only a few people in front of us waiting and a few finishing so we were welcomed warmly and seated in 10minutes. The staff 4 or 5 who helped us seemed to be enjoying serving us as much as we enjoyed their service. Food was good and people made it taste even better.
K. F.
Never disappoints. Great food. If you don't want to sit in (like me). Take out option is just as good.
N. R.
Good food as always. 20 minute queue before getting a seat by which time they were queuing out into the street. Medium sized menu catering for carnivores like me and strict vegan like my daughter. Compared to where I'm from (Aberdeen) excellent value for money
M. S.
Awesome Indian food combined with concept of Tapas. Great views of Kelvingrove Museum, top.
K. M.
Tapas style Indian. I didn’t like the floppy nan bread though, it felt uncooked. But all in all really good.
A. Q.
Food was average, all food arrived basically at the same time, no time to have poppadoms before starter and then mains arrived while we where still eating starter, not much taste in butter chicken, lamb sag was really tastey. Our waitress seemed she could not be bothered at all, not a smile, very little conversation. To be honest it all seemed very unprofessional.
A. M.
Excelent Dosas.First time trying them.Great food..Loved it.Excelent service
p. b.
Loved it. Live in India 5 months a year and enjoyed every morsel of food we had. Great staff also. We'll be back.
E. C.
Excellent food as usual. Tapas size portions allow for chance to try varied dishes. Day specials add variety. Tuesday is great value with 2dishes and thali. Service attentive and helpful. For visitors, ask for jug of iced tap water so you taste food and save money.
h.
Fantastic food. Reasonably priced and full of flavour.
A. M.
We came here after watching an Anthony Bourdain episode in Glasgow.
The food was unbelievable - so tasty and full of condiments.
The concept of the restaurant is tapas, they recommend you choose 3-4 options to share between two people and then get a side.
Good quality/price ratio!
S. B.
Had a fantastic lunch in here. 2 portions of fish pakoras, north indian ginger lamb,a chapati,2 pints of kingfisher and a large pinot grigio. £33. Great service too. Will go back for dinner.
A. M.
Great friendly service, nothing too much trouble and brilliant tasting food. Very reasonably priced and would highly recommend
E. C.
Excellent Indian tapas!! Very reasonably priced! The mixed Indian veg curry to die for!!! Nan breads melt in the mouth! Lamb dash delicious ! 4 dishes fed my daughter and I well at lunchtime! Well done! Handy for Kelvin grove Art Galleries
C. J.
We thought the food was very good, however, were very disappointed when we got seated at a table on the main floor (shoved up against the bar) when there was actually room downstairs in the dining room. We asked several times if we could be seated elsewhere but were told the restaurant was totally booked. We checked the lower floor ourselves and found several empty tables. Too bad as the space seemed very inviting and fun. I would recommend making a reservation as this was their excuse for not getting a better table.
P. B.
Without doubt some of the best Indian food I've had. Staff were super friendly, great wine selection too. Food was perfect, especially enjoyed the Fish Pakora, Keema Dosa and the Garlic Naan. Highly recommended
J. G.
Excellent tappas, small dishes, so you can enjoy more than one dish and not feel too full. Good atmosphere and comfortable, attentive service, good value. We will be back again, soon hopefully.
R. H.
Great food served quickly and with a smile. Wish it was on the end of our street back home
J. B.
The Dosa was tasty, but rather small and bizarrely soft, not crisp as it should be.
K. B.
Best Indian restaurant will be back soon
D. J.
Lovely food at good prices.
A. M.
You know the feeling when you visit a brilliant Indian and everything on the menu looks great but you can't manage more than one, maybe two mains? Well, the 'Indian tapas' concept however pretentious it sounds is the obvious solution to that dilemma by cutting the portions and prices to £5-7 taster plates.
The menu is filled with desirable classics and intriguing local dishes. The standout recipe for me was the Keema spiced minced lamb, served on its own even better than constricted within a dosa or samosa. You won't be disappointed with your choices, though, whatever you pick.
Only slight grievance I have with Mother India's Cafe would be the lack of table booking, as annoying now as it's always been. At the end of the day, however, the food is well worth the wait.
R. S.
Great food, with fast and perfect service. Even if the portions are "tapas" sized, they are not scarce. We shared six dishes (plus rice) between three people and we were all very full at the end. The atmosphere is cosy and the staff nice and the attentive.
S. T.
Tapas-style Indian that'll leave you wanting to taste absolutely everything on the menu. Staff are friendly and efficient. There's usually a queue to get a table, but it's worth the wait! My favourite Indian restaurant in Glasgow!
M. G.
According to me, it is just highly rated. We have read so many good reviews about it. So went for lunch.
Had to wait in a long queue just to experience ans taste an average quality food. The quanity was also not enough.
We had tried vegetarian options only but the quality of any item except breads was not upto the mark.
S. L.
The food is nice with a range of flavours, the portion size is labeled as 'tapas' or small serves as I saw it. Over priced for the quantity decent price for the quality. After I paid I would've tipped the waitress but she never came back with my change, so if I tight on money her actions would not have been good. Don't go if you are hungry and don't have a lot to spend, do go if you enjoy quality food.
R. J.
Absolutely love this place. Never have to book as long as you are willing to wait, which can be long but you expect it. Choice is superb. Service flawless. Food always top drawer. And it doesn't blow the budget either. If I could give 6/5 I would.
A. K.
Very good, authentic Indian food. Instead of ordering one big meal, you pick several smaller portions (I recommend three for a full meal). But: prepare to wait for at least half an hour before getting a table.
S. L.
Fantastic as always. Went to the dine in restaurant. Freshly made ready to order. Home style cooking. We ordered a simple chicken curry on the bone, black dahl and methi keema. They were really tasty and great value with generous portions. Recently redecorated and a bit more sophisticated decor while remaining friendly and casual. Personal service. Also, great for take away. Highly recommended. Possibly the best Indian in Glasgow!
A. R.
They serve tapas style dishes and do some of the most authentic tasting curries I've had the pleasure to taste. You cannot prebook so expect a bit of a wait on weekends but it's worth it.
For take aways they prepack a few of their popular curries and side dishes (all fresh made) so you can take them home to reheat. Great idea if you are in a hurry or want to pick up food to eat much later. I regularly pick up a quick curry and have never been disappointed. My only one slight complaint would be that the take away menu has not changed for years. Would be good to see some new dishes.
B. d. B.
Excellent! Had to wait outside, but line moved very fast. Friendly staff. Not rushed from table when done. Delicious food, lamb curry with mint was awesome, only the chicken tikka was perhaps a bit on the dry side.
D. A.
Fantastic food. They don't take bookings and sometimes you need to queue outside if you want to eat here which probably tells you how good it is. We went for a late lunch and the staff who served us were brilliant
A. J. U.
Food is very good. And service is quite good as well. We had to queue to get in, but they were quite good at all keeping up with new customers. Plus is a very interesting concept for customers to try different Indian dishes!
T. P.
Dam good food fantastic service from lovely staff xx
A. L.
Nicely located across from Kelvingrove Museum. This is one of a number of Mother India eateries in Glasgow. This one is a kind of tapas style - all cooked fresh and very nice. On a freezing cold day, I had a lovely cup of their Masala Chai Tea with lots of spices. Service was excellent and the prices not bad either.
A. Z.
Very mediocre food. Chicken and prawns were overcooked. Sauces are just hot instead of flavorful. Naan was great though.
C. C.
This spin off of heavyweight giant Mother India, Mother India's Cafe is a modern classic on the Glasgow curry scene and continues to dish up consistently excellent food at undeniably great prices. No bookings taken so be prepared to wait a while to get a seat but rest assured that any wait will be be well worth it. Highly recommended.
P. W.
Good range of Indian tapas at fair prices. Usually a wait to be seated as this is a popular place. The vegetarian dishes were lacking a little heat for my liking
J. O.
Tapas style Indian food, amazing!
Wonderful location too.
J. C.
Was in Glasgow on businesses. On my previous visit to the city I was eager to try this restaurant but as my party didn't opt for it I didn't go but finally got to eat here recently. It's highly recommended by the locals. Was far from disappointed! Good food with a very fast paced environment. I gather I ate in the cafe rather than the restaurant (which was closed that night) so can only assume and hope the restaurant has a more relaxed eating experienced. Will be back to try. Lamb karai was my favourite. A tapas style Indian is such a good concept if you havnt tried please give it ago.
c. c.
Food was fantastic will definitely be back for more
G. H.
Very nice place to eat. They serve food in a tapas fashion. Smaller portions and prices. If there's a couple of you 3 or 4 mains is good. I really like this style of restaurant. Top recommend.
N. D.
Very good menu choice and is a busy cafe in the evening. The curry is very tasty and the portion size is just right without giving you too much that you need to takeaway! Good service from the staff and good value for money too.
B. S.
Fantastic Indian serving small plates. You can taste the fresh herbs and spices in each dish. One of the best Indian restaurants in Glasgow, along with Mother India a few hundred yards away.
H. G.
Went out for tea with my husband and grandchildren.we did not realize it was a tapas restaurant.. this was new to us. We all enjoyed it and was a reasonable price for four. The staff were friendly and approachable.
M. R.
Tapas style portions, the food here is always first class and the friendly staff ready to advise and not steering you towards the most expensive or highest bill. Integrity. It's a busy place because of its great reputation, and often a queue at the doorway, but worth the wait. Kingfisher beer available on draught and craft beers by bottle. There are reasons this place is busy while other curry houses are suffering and that's great cuisine, efficient staff and table allocation, pleasant surroundings, partly the tapas business model, and customer loyalty based on a consistently enjoyable dining experience.
A. G.
This has to be the best curry we've ever had ( and we've had a few!) Truly authentic flavours and fresh tasting food. Very reasonably priced too and friendly efficient service. Just wish this place was closer to home.
L. D.
We recently had a weekend in Glasgow and arrived at Mother Indias Cafe on the Saturday evening for dinner with friends. We had to wait 45 minutes but it was really worth the wait.
The manager kept checking on us, gave drinks on the house and poppadoms. When a few seats next to the door become available they insisted we sit down while we waited. They were very accomadating and made us feel extremely welcome before we even had a table.
The selection of food was great, arrived quickly and tasted spectacular. The staff was so friendly and helpful, especially after a smashed glass of coke!
We would definitely recommend this establishment, it's worth the wait if you are not in a rush. Thank you again for a lovely experience.
J. E.
Sort of southern Indian tapas. Small plates, fresh tastes. Good food. Bustling atmosphere. It's the first time I have been but will definitely go back again.
O. L.
Best Indian food in Glasgow. Hands down. It's a tapas style place so you can have a whole variety of multiple curries, all done to perfection. The peshwari naan is the highlight. Absolutely amazing. Cant recommend this place any more than this. Wonderful meal.
C. M.
Lovely place with outstanding food. Not a huge menu but all options appear to be excellently executed - thinking about it is making my mouth water. Attentive, helpful staff. Clean, tasteful decor and spotlessly clean toilets. Would definitely recommend.
d. g.
Best Indian meal I've had..
M. G.
Only adding to the rest of their reviews. Lovely food. Each dish different flavours. Thali style small dishes. Get 2 or 3 per person and share. And the naan was delicious. Great service.. Well managed.. No booking.. Short queue that moved quickly enough. A few of these places in Finnieston. I need to visit them all. 😊

Why would anyone put up with school parties and grumbling pensioners while at the Kelvin Grove Gallery. For lunch nip across the road. I have been here a couple of times. Timing is everything. If it's busy, you will wait. That is the only downside however. It is busy for a reason it is good. I love having a selection of lots of small dishes. I haven't noticed any lurid reds or rancid yellows in any of their dishes. So all good there then. I had the 'Staff Curry'. After a wee bit of banter in seeking assurances that this wasn't made up of careless chef's digits 😁 I put in my order. It was tasty. Looking round, everyone else looked equally as happy.
M. B.
Been here on several occasions and am always thoroughly satisfied with food, service and value. Can get quite busy but even when we were told there might be a 20 minutes wait we are pretty consistently seated within 5-10 minutes and have never really bothered making reservations (though it may be a good idea on weekends?).
They do all the classics very well (saag paneer, dal, aloo gobi, etc.) and have lots of other tasty options to choose from. Four or five tapas dishes will keep it around 20 quid and is plenty to fill the bellies of a hungry couple. Servers are lovely and they seem to always have a floor manager to keep things running smoothly. Only issue we ever had was one dish not being brought out and when we told them they made sure to bring it quickly and with all apologies. Highly recommended Indian spot, great for trying a little bit of a lot of things, go here!
I. M.
a busy place with a good selection of small dishes to share. the staff are welcoming, the place is clean, the food is very good , prices are not unreasonable for the area. worth a visit.
G. O. C. &. C.
My favourite Indian Restaurant in Glasgow. Excellent variety of great food in a tapas style, served by friendly & helpful staff.
M. M.
Friendly staff quite small for about of tables they have in place. Food was nice but small portions.
V. D.
One of the best Indian places in Glasgow. All the food is great and a good selection to choose from. Can get very busy so worth phoning ahead. Highly recommended.
N. K.
They made us very happy! It's like tapas for Indian food, wide and good selection of dishes. Best was the chicken tikka 2 with plain Nan! So: Lovely staff, delicious(!!!!) food! Thank you very much for everything!
R. T.
Love this place! Food consistently good & very much value for money. It most certainly had the "wow" factor for our Danish friends! Staff friendly and helpful as always! Thank you Mother India Cafe!
L. B.
Don’t think the concept is remarkable as most of the time at an Indian restaurant we mix and match our dishes but as the lengthy queues in the drizzle suggested the dishes on offer and food quality was top notch. Unfortunately as with all Tapas restaurants in a reasonable sized party it is quite difficult to track all the dishes you ordered have arrived and when one failed to turn up we had basically ate our fill before it eventually turned up – great to know that it is cooked from fresh to order but no excuse when it was definitely noted correctly on the order when the owner/manager came to check.
The waitress staff were attentive, drink replenished quickly and the price was very reasonable.
Would definitely go back if passing and there were no queues but not sure if I would wait in the rain again.
H. S.
Superb! Excellent food, reasonably priced. Every dish was exceptional and the menu was varied and interesting. Lovely service and great atmosphere in this lively restaurant. Highly recommended.
D. S.
Fantastic tasty food and lovely staff. Getting a table is first come first seated, you mostly have to wait, but not long. My favourite Indian restaurant. Great with allergies.
Z.
I have a take-away from Mother India's every Sunday, and I tend to go for the same thing every week. If I lived nearer Glasgow I would be there several times every week. The food is excellent and the prices are very reasonable. It's a very popular place to eat.
C. P.
My favourite Indian Restaurant
C. W.
I'm struggling to think of a time I've more enjoyed a curry. Eating by yourself is never as much fun as with company, but the lovely staff put me at ease and tucked me away by the bar. I had the veggie dosa which comes with a delicious chickpea curry, minted peas and roasted Paneer curry and boiled basmati rice. It was too much so I got a take away as I couldn't bear the thought of it being thrown away. I would highly recommend this super cosy, quick friendly neighbourhood curry house - amazing!
A. A.
Early evening family dinner, and the restaurant was already full.. made to feel welcome, with poppadums ready almost immediately! Starters came out fresh and tasty , and main courses followed... a very satisfied family.. Thanks to Asif and his excellent staff
r. l.
Food taste was not upto to the mark
l.
Yes! Suggested to us by a local who specified to go to the cafe. Food served tapas style which is to say in small portions. You order multiple entrees which is wonderful for anyone who has a hard time choosing. The food tastes amazing and the staff was very polite and efficient.
C. C.
Had three types of curry dishes with rice and a nan bread.
They were nice and the serving sizes were reasonable.
It's a good place if you want to tray a few different dishes.
H. M.
Great food, fresh ingredients and great selection of vegetarian options. All easily made vegan. Top quality service, too - it was really busy but we felt well looked after and were never rushed to finish our dinner albeit the long wait for tables!
M. B.
Fantastic. Best food ever. Staff brilliant. Will be back again and again
S. W.
Only been here once with my girlfriend.
Food was nice if a little too small on portion size.
They say it's more like Indian style tapas dishes.
More like 2 mouthful per dish.
P. T. P.
Excellent food, no need to book but instead a queue outside system means you might wait 20 mins. Serves lots of small dishes a bit like Indian tapas. Very reasonable prices
B. M.
Always love this place,never dissapoints
A. G.
It was amazing. Food is really tasty, great service and good prices
P. W.
Good range of Indian tapas at fair prices. Usually a wait to be seated as this is a popular place. The vegetarian dishes were lacking a little heat for my liking
M. G.
According to me, it is just highly rated. We have read so many good reviews about it. So went for lunch.
Had to wait in a long queue just to experience ans taste an average quality …
S. S.
A lovely place with a big filling tapas selection. No reservations needed. Staff is friendly. Food is very good. Recommended
R. S.
Great food, with fast and perfect service. Even if the portions are "tapas" sized, they are not scarce. We shared six dishes (plus rice) between three people and we were all very full at the end. The atmosphere is cosy and the staff nice and the attentive.
B. N.
Polite, cheerful and helpful service. Good value for money. Tasty food perfectly seasoned (everyone enjoyed their meal)
J. F. H. C. -. 4.
The best Indian Restaurant you will ever find! Absolutely love this place. Have been coming here for 10 years and not once has it been a disappointment. Management are superb.
N.
Favourite restaurant in Glasgow. Concept and food are both amazing. Worth lining up outside in the cold for!
S. T.
Tapas-style Indian that'll leave you wanting to taste absolutely everything on the menu. Staff are friendly and efficient. There's usually a queue to get a table, but it's worth the wait! My favourite Indian restaurant in Glasgow!
A.
They don't take bookings so you take your chances. We got a table no problem. It is byob although they have a very limited list. Food was really good as was the service
P. C.
Buzzing Indian restaurant with a very original menu. Very popular here but they don't take reservations. We went early and were lucky.
E. G.
Great selection, delicious food and lovely service for a mid price. Vegan options, meat, veg and fish. Small sharer plates so you get to try lots of things. Queue was out the door on Saturday.
S. C.
100% the best curry house in Glasgow. Tapas style so no giant portions but oh, oh so good.
Try butter chicken, garlic and chilli dosa and the fish pakora.
You can't reserve a table and there's often a queue into the street, says it all! Worth the wait though😁
J. H.
Excellent. Food is out of this world.
J. F. H. C. -. 4.
The best Indian Restaurant you will ever find! Absolutely love this place. Have been coming here for 10 years and not once has it been a disappointment. Management are superb.
D. A. C.
Have eaten here many times over the years and it is always a delight. The food is quite outstanding and the staff are simply wonderful. Visited today and it was as good as ever. Looking forward to many more visits in the future.
A. B.
Tapas style Indian food that is exceptional. King prawns are especially good.
Informal atmosphere created by the cafe style. No bookings so often a wait at the weekend.
L. L.
The butter chicken is very good, nice place with a lot of choice
N. R.
The best indian experience in glasgow! Do you want the best indian and probably the cheapest price for a restaurant?
Look no further than mother india cafe. Myself and my partner have 3 curries here with 2 naans, 2 desserts and 2 coffees and it barely costs over £35!!
R. K.
My Favourite place for Indian food in Glasgow. Amazing dishes, tapas sized and great value, allows you to try several dishes. Lovely staff too.
D. F.
Best Indian I've ever had. I lived one floor above these guys and one week ate the chili garlic chicken with naan for 7 days straight. Every time I go back to Glasgow this is what I am dreaming about.
J. S.
Best Indian food I've ever had. Was recommended by multiple people, fully lived up to recommendations. Fresh, bold flavour and great naan and dosas. Amazing.
A. D. (.
Quite simply the best indian there is in Glasgow, and thats a tough crowd to beat. Staff were amazing, turnover is always super quick, food is excellent, couldnt have asked for anymore. Couldnt have fit anymore food in my belly either 😂
C. T.
One of my favourite places to eat in Glasgow, some of the best authentic style Indian dishes with a couple of fusion jems like the spiced haddock, no booking here, you have to queue...but even a 45min wait in the rain is worth it!
A must visit.
B. S.
This place is like tapas for indian food. However, if you get a curry and rice it will be fine for one person. Lovely space, friendly staff, and good food. It is a go-to place when family visits.
W. C.
Went for lunch after visiting the Kelvingrove Gallery. Five of us had a range of dishes: pakora, curries, naans, samosas for around £50 which was a sizeable lunch. It's only a small place, and was pretty well patronised.
Vegetable pakora were crisp and tasty, and would recommend the Thursday fish and lentil special!
S.
Warm and cozy restaurant with nice service and yummy food.
Our conversation with the waiter
"Do you have anything really spicy?"
"Everything is spicy, sir"
:D
T. H.
Really nice Indian restaurant, but more as a tappas cafe. Excellent service, however as it is very busy, and no bookings, you may need to wait in que.
C. M.
Possibly my favourite Indian restaurant in Glasgow.traditional Indian fayre served tapas style.very busy Restaurant which is also small inside plus you can't reserve tables.so prepare to wait in a queue for a table at weekend's.worth the wait though
J. H.
The best curry in Glasgow. My favourite, chicken pakora is unlike any other. Be sure to take a drumstick lolly on your way out. This place is the greatest.
R. S.
Fantastic food , my new fav Indian restaraunt
R. H.
Great food and a friendly, welcoming staff who were very accommodating of the two toddlers we brought AND our rush to catch a train! The dall and the butter chicken were particularly delicious.
S. T.
Superb Indian food, served tapas style so you can try different things! I'd say at least 2 meat dishes if you're an average sized guy or bigger for a filling meal (obviously plus poppadoms, rice, naan, and maybe some pakora to start if you're feeling extra fat haha)!
A.
They don't take bookings so you take your chances. We got a table no problem. It is byob although they have a very limited list. Food was really good as was the service
C. M.
Really love this restaurant and the fish pakora and the lamb curry was great but the spicy prawns and spicy baked haddock were not up to standards of old.
R. B.
Always great food in here!
P. C.
Buzzing Indian restaurant with a very original menu. Very popular here but they don't take reservations. We went early and were lucky.
O. K.
Really good Indian Tapas, this place is a victim of its own popularity though as they don't take reservations and as a result you often find yourself queued out the door in the Scottish rain.
M. K.
So very tasty. The food quality is outstanding. Nice to eat in your own or to share with friends. Thought it was reasonably priced for the quality.
A.
o
Always good value for money and very friendly and relaxed. Staff very attentive. Excellent take away variety of meals. Would recommend a visit.
C. L.
On the side spiced onion with peshwari naan went down well, the naan was a bit doughy though the centre was great. The spiced onion was nippy with fresh coriander and was delicious . Mains was a Chichen dosa and a Lamb tika dish. Both were nice and had a good bit of heat. Complimented with cashey and lemon rice that was light and fluffy. Washed down with some masala tea and coke. All for £22.
So I was happy that I left feeling full, got great fresh food and the staff were prompt, polite and helpful.
Chris
B. G.
Excellent cafe/tapas style Indian food. Great quality and variety. Excellent for lunch .You leave feeling satisfied but not having overeaten.
P. W.
The food is good, there's lots of choice. Service is nice and fairly fast. Uses a tapas style of menu, which is a bit of a let down
T. G.
Great food had the chicken pakora then ginger and spinach leaf with chicken nice and spicy but not to hot. Minor complaint needs air conditioning or ceiling fans.
M. M.
Great food and beatiful interior. The choice was good and the portions well balanced. Proffesional service. A Little bit dear but the whole experience was great.
D. K.
Always quick delivery and hot food via Uber Eats
S. W.
The food was good, but a bit off from what we expected. The butter chicken was spicy, which seemed odd and the Nan just seemed a bit off. Other than that we enjoyed our meal.
N.
The best curries in Glasgow, amazing flavours and fresh ingredients. They dont allow tables reservation so there can be queues outside the door but the wait is worth it
C. M.
If I could give this place 6 or 7 stars I would, fantastic service and even better food, I recommend the 'lamb chops' they are outstanding!!!! I go to this place once a week, it's never changed the whole time I have been going, value for money everytime
N. B.
Excellent meal. Baby Aubergine and Potato. Quick and courteous service. Good price. Hope to return soon.
C. O.
Every time I've been the food and service have both been amazing. In my opinion, it's the best Indian in Glasgow.

A. t.
Best Indian food in Glasgow, consistently great over the years. Great to see them offer vegan options too.
C. N.
Nice small place, good food and not badly priced, was tiny bit dark even though we sat next to a window. Overall I'd go back
R. R.
Service was good, but only go if you love spicy food. Little bit of an upset stomach today.
M. J.
Great food, lunch not too big, modern decor, love photos on wall, friendly staff. Good prices.
C. C.
Great food, great service. We built our order purely on the servers suggestions and were not disappointed. Thanks!
N. M.
More spicy dishes that any other Indian restaurant. Very quick service. The chicken butter has not so creamy.
K. K.
Great food...and it's always busy because the food is great!!!! Best Indian tapas restaurant in Glasgow.... don't be surprised if you have to queue. It's worth it!!!
M. N.
Imagine some delicious flavours exploding in your mouth, then different ones a second afterwards and then different ones etc. The food here is great but what really makes the place are the combinations you can have because of the tapas style dining.
G. T.
Been eating here every other week for ten years. Never once had a lousy meal. This place is one of the best in the city
V. M.
Very testy and healthy food
B. V.
Been there twice. One of Best service and dinner qualities in Glasgow! A must visit. Will 100% be back there. Thanks!

T. S.
A fabulous Indian style tapas restaurant ideal for groups. Cosy atmosphere but it is likely to be packed with long queues from early evening. That's the downside
T. F.
We tried a few different dishes, and absolutely everything was delicious! It was so good that we didn't even have time to take pictures - we just devoured everything.
b. O.

Tapas style traditional Indian food!! The only issue is that I always over order as my eyes are bigger than my belly..
L. M.
Very nice place, quite, good service and high quality food :)
The area is very nice.
Strongly recommend.
L. A.
Very good quality food but the prices are too high for the quantity of food you receive. You are better off going to the main restaurant
